Recovered content

On or before July 13th, 2017, a description for John appeared on the American website:

THE INQUISITOR JOHN SEED John’s doctrine is “The Power of Yes.” As the reaper for Eden’s Gate, John will use intimidation, faith and violence to secure resources vital to the Cult’s survival—whether it’s home or human. And anyone who tries to interfere with The Project will face a merciless death… Unless of course, John has another use for them.

The next time the page was archived, on February 9th, 2018, although the rest of the text remained the same, John’s title was changed and became THE BAPTIST instead of THE INQUISITOR.

On or before March 27th, 2018, a Cult Vignette trailer, the one dedicated to John, was added.

The page existed and looked like this at least until February 7th, 2020.

On the European website, only about one-third of the description was used (and the word “human” became “a person”), but his title was always The Inquisitor. In the game, it’s only The Baptist.

Commentary

There it is: John’s title changing from The Inquisitor to The Baptist before our eyes! The description still seems accurate, and my guess is that the “other use” he has for people who try to interfere with the Reaping (and who don’t get killed) is sending them to the other Heralds. As a Resistance fighter in Far Cry 5 says, “Whoever John doesn't keep, he sends to Jacob. Or Faith”. A cultist in John’s Gate also explains, about people who said “no” to him, that “in his infinite mercy, he’s decided to send them east. They’ll walk the path and become Angels.”

[In the original Monster Manual 2, quartons have absolutely no unique abilities whatsoever. Which allowed them to be a blank slate for me. So I gave them powers of crafting and construction, and also a bunch of references to the spells and magic items of original AD&D that assumed that high level characters would settle down and build their own dungeons. On a related note, is the lyre of building a joke about Nero? Or is there some myth or story about construction sped up by playing a lyre that I don’t know?]

Modron, Quarton CR 18 LN Outsider (extraplanar) This humanoid giant has four arms, two enormous and two small. It has fan-like wings growing from its back, and a head like a helmet. A symbol of a diamond sits on the center of its forehead.

Quartons are the modron hierarchs that represent Primus’ mastery over artifice. They are engineers and builders of incredible skill, mixing magical and mundane techniques to create buildings and tools that are unparalleled throughout the planes. They often act as architects and supervisors, coordinating the efforts of lesser modrons to perform the bulk of the labor, and then adding the finishing touches to optimize efficiency. As such, a single quarton may oversee construction projects throughout Regulus, delegating to a team of decatons for most of the day-to-day affairs.

Although quartons have four arms, they are decidedly uneven in size. The smaller pair is used for spellcasting, while the larger pair is used for combat and manual labor. A quarton typically carries a massive two-handed hammer as a badge of office, and blows with this hammer can shatter inanimate objects and clear earth and stone with ease. A quarton often focuses its strikes in combat on enemy gear rather than on their flesh, hoping to demoralize foes and persuade them of the wisdom of surrender. If this fails, or if fighting chaotic enemies, the quarton instead fights with maximum lethal efficiency.

As quartons rarely leave the bustle of Regulus, they provide tools in order for other modrons to fulfill the will of Primus on other planes or planets. Their workshops build the vast majority of the weapons wielded by modrons, and they also provide hierarchs on the Great Modron March with tools for securing and defending territory. Instant fortresses, lyres of building, and simple scrolls of stone shape and move earth are provided to expeditionary forces. On the rare occasions where a quarton leaves Regulus, it is usually to inspect a site captured by modrons to determine if it is suitable for long-term occupation, and to design fortifications to spec if it is.

SAINT OF THE DAY (March 13)

St. Roderick of Cordoba was born in the 9th century.

Roderick, also known as Ruderic, was a priest during the persecution of Christians by the Moors in Cabra, Spain.

He had two brothers, one was a Muslim and the other was a fallen-away Catholic. 

One day, he tried to stop an argument between his two brothers. However, his brothers turned on him, and as a result, he was beaten into unconsciousness.

The Muslim brother then paraded Roderick through the streets proclaiming that he wished to become a Muslim. His brother also told the authorities that Roderick had converted to Islam. 

When Roderic awoke, he renounced his brother's story and told the authorities of his loyalty to the Catholic faith.

The authorities accused Roderick of apostacy under Sharia Law and he was imprisoned.

While in prison, he met a man named Solomon, also charged with apostasy.

After a long imprisonment, they were both beheaded in 857 AD in Cordoba, Spain.

Electric Trains are the Future Timeline

Since I plan for Electric Trains are the Future to cover multiple time periods with small time skips throughout, as well as small one-shots/smaller stories connected to it, I wanted to put a timeline together for it that I will update as the story goes on and more stories are added. Note: There are two time periods in this fic, but they are both tracked here.

Hisuian Era

October 28th, 1868 - Ingo appears in the Alabaster Icelands of Hisui, and becomes a rumored spirit.

November 7th, 1868 - Gaeric sees Ingo atop Avalugg’s Legacy.

November 9th, 1868 - Lady Sneasler arrives at the Pearl Settlement with a bloodied Ingo. Ingo receives medical attention, and after seeing that he is without memories or a home, he is welcomed into the Pearl Clan.

September 30th, 1869 - The Galaxy Expedition Team lands in Prelude Beach, and sets up a base camp in a natural valley. After a few weeks of discussion with Irida and Adaman, Galaxy Commander Denboku Kamado is allowed to settle his people permanently in what becomes Jubilife Village, and given leave to bring more settlers, as long as sovereign lands and treaties with the Clans are respected.

December 19th, 1869 - Shiki, the Warden of Lady Sneasler, passes away at age 87. After a week of mourning, Sneasler chooses Ingo, who Shiki had been helping get used to Clan life, as her new Warden. He is official indicted as Warden on December 29th.

January 13th, 1871 - The Space-Time Rift tears itself open above Mt. Coronet, sending both the Clans and Jubilife into a panic.

September 18th, 1871 - Hikari falls from the sky and takes the name Akari as she joins the Galaxy Expedition Team. The next night, after she is accepted into the Team, Lord Kleavor is sent into a Frenzy.

September 18th, 1871 to January 30th, 1871 - The events of Pokemon Legends Arceus take place. Akari, 15, frees the Nobles of their Frenzy, is banished  for a short time, and defeats Volo at the Spear Pillar.

March 18th, 1872 - Akari accidentally summons Elesa into Hisui, and Electric Trains are the Future begins. Akari spends the night talking with Giratina to plan how to fix her mistake, and Elesa and Ingo talk about their shared history.

March 19th, 1872 - Elesa begins work at Edith’s Hair Salon and with the Galaxy Security Corp. Later that day, Warden Ingo collapses due to the strain of his memories returning.

June 24th, 1872 - Warden Ingo’s coat is restored by Elesa.

July 2nd, 1872 - Akari completes the Hisuian Pokedex, evolving her last Pokemon and turning it in to Laventon. That night, she gets a text on her Arc Phone, summoning her to the Temple, and a new page adds itself to the Pokedex.

July 5th, 1872 - While investigating potential locations for a new Galaxy-funded Village, Warden Ingo falls from a cliff face. 

July 6th, 1872 - Warden Ingo is in critical but non-life threatening condition.

August 18th, 2010 - Ingo and Emmet Grayn, 23, form the Battle Subway in Nimbasa City with the support of Champion Alder and League Official Palmer Walton. Ingo has been Head of the Unovan Transportation Authority for 4 months.

June 2012 to November 2012 - The events of Pokémon Black take place. Hilbert Blackmore, 14, bonds with Reshiram, the Dragon of Truth, and defeats N, the King of Team Plasma and trainer bonded to Zekrom, the Dragon of Ideals. Though inducted into the Hall of Fame, Hilbert refuses the position of Champion and leaves Unova to search for N.

October 17th, 2013 - Alder Begay, 56, steps down as the Unova League Champion after holding the position for 16 years. Iris Grayn, 14, the co-Gym Leader of Opelucid Gym, is appointed to the position of Champion due to her previous win against the League Champion in an exhibition match. Drayden Grayn, 65, returns to being the full-time Gym Leader.

April 2014 to September 2014 - The story of Pokémon Black 2 takes place. Nate Rivers, 13, defeats a renewed Team Plasma, and completes his Gym Challenge. He faces against Champion Iris, but is unsuccessful, and begins working in earnest at Pokéstar Studios.

December 23rd, 2016 - Palmer Walton moves to Sinnoh to establish the Battle Tower, as well as to take care of his ailing mother. His family moves with him.

June 8th, 2017 - Elesa Stark, 31, and Skyla Cirrus, 29, are married in a private ceremony in Lentimas with friends and family.

December 25th, 2017 - In a Delibird Day Miracle, Hilbert Blackmore, 19, returns to Unova after interning at the Indigo League with Kukui Mahi’ai, 21. A few weeks after his return, Hilbet challenges the League once more, defeating Iris Grayn, now 18, and taking the spot as Champion. Iris takes control of Opelucid Gym, while Drayden, now 69, retires to administrative work.

February 18th, 2018 - Palmer expands the Battle Tower into a Battle Frontier.

November 28th, 2018 - During a check on Pokémon in the tunnels, Ingo Grayn, 32, disappears and remains missing. Multiple regional Leagues look into the disappearance, but no major leads are found.

January 2019 to July 2019 - The events of a Pokémon Platinum Remake occur. Hikari Mifune, alongside Lucas Kubo and Barry Walton, all age 12, take down Team Galactic in the Sinnoh region. Hikari and Barry both finish their Gym Challenge, and while Barry is unable to defeat Lucian Hale, Hikari defeats the Champion, Cynthia Kurosawa. Note: This event is used by both Interpol and the Aether Foundation to help ascertain when they are dealing with Fallers or Travelers from other realities, as almost every other reality had these events happen in 2007.

September 13th, 2019 - Hilda Whitman, 21, is instated as the new Subway Boss full-time, moving from the Afternoon Singles line to running Singles and Super Singles on all operating days. She battles alongside Emmet on the Multi Lines in addition to her Single Lines duties. Rosa Whitaker, 19, is hired as a Depot Agent for the Double Line.

April 14th to June 3rd, 2020 - Team Plasma resurges, attempting to attack the Subway and Pokemon League before they were quickly quashed by N Gropius, Hilbert Blackmore, and Rosa Whitaker. 

September 21st, 2020 - Grimsley Winstar, 38, resigns from the Unovan Elite Four due to a medicial emergency. After a short search, N Gropius, 28, is hired on to replace him, taking over both the spot and the typing.

February 19th, 2021 - Elesa Stark, 35, and Emmet Grayn, 34, are married in a small ceremony in Anville Town, with only family and close friends in attendence.

September 18th, 2021 - Hikari Mifune, 15, disappears from her room. There are no signs of entry or exit, and her Pokemon were still in the house. Investigations are ongoing.

March 18th, 2022 - Elesa Stark, 36, disappears from the runway of her Gym during a photoshoot. Investigations are ongoing.

May 31st, 2022 - Emmet meets with Professor Burnet Mahi’ai, 27, of Alola to discuss what may have happened to Elesa. Volo, age unknown takes the chance to visit the Ruins of Life with Professor Kukui Mahi’ai.

June 18th, 2022 - Emmet returns to Nimbasa City briefly with Volo and Alolan Champion Elio Nozawa, 12, to check in on the Transport Authority and investigate Ingo’s disappearance.

July 5th, 2022 - Emmet collapses in the Eterna Forest, and is taken to Galactic Urgent Care in Eterna City. He is discharged within hours, but is unconscious through the ordeal.

July 6th, 2022 - Emmet meets with former Sinnoh Champion Cynthia Kurosawa, and makes a plan to find their missing families.

However, an injury has kept him out of the crease since the middle of March. That has given Jaxon Castor the opportunity to shine, and he has certainly done that. Dating back to the end of the regular season, Castor has gone 8-1-1 in his last ten starts, and has allowed two goals or fewer in seven of the eight wins. The Nailers have also added Garret Sparks, who backstopped the Toronto Marlies to a Calder Cup Championship in 2018. Lethemon and Jan Bednar mostly alternated games during the regular season for the Walleye, and that continued in the playoffs, with Lethemon starting games one and three, and Bednar getting the call in games two and four. Lethemon had a 26-22 advantage in wins, while playing in 23 more minutes. Bednar posted the better goals against average (2.66) and save percentage (.901) over his partner. DefenseWheeling: Belliveau, Bunz, Drake, Lee, Nickl, Roehl, WaughToledo: Anderson, Cameron, Gabriele, Graves, McCourt, Michaelian, Pietila, PrapavessisThis series features two groups of defensemen who enjoy success on both sides of the puck. Two names that will be mentioned frequently in the series are Toledo's Brandon Hawkins and Wheeling's Jordan Martel. Hawkins won the ECHL MVP Award by leading the circuit with 40 goals and 93 points. Martel was a huge addition for the Nailers, as he finished the year with 35 goals and 58 points. Both players led or tied for their team lead in scoring during the first round, with Martel being joined by his captain, Justin Addamo. The Nailers went 12-for-12 on the penalty kill in the final three games, and even tacked on a shorthanded strike, thanks to Matt Koopman, who had six shorthanded points during the regular season. The penalty box attendants were pretty lonely during Toledo's first round series against Kalamazoo, as the two teams combined for just 14 power plays, with each side going 1-for-7. Two players in particular should gain lots of attention on these units, which both eclipsed 20% success rates in the regular season. Wheeling's Jordan Martel factored into the scoring on five of the team's six power play goals in the first round, and led the Nailers with ten goals and 21 points on the man advantage during the regular season. Toledo's Brandon Hawkins led the ECHL with 34 power play points during the regular season, and was tied for the lead with 15 goals. Both head coaches played college hockey (Army - Providence, Mikesch - Michigan Tech), prior to starting their pro playing careers in the ECHL. Derek spent the majority of his playing career with the Nailers, in addition to time in the AHL, while Pat played five of his eight pro seasons in Germany. Army began his coaching career as an assistant with the Worcester Railers in 2018, before coming back to Wheeling in 2020. Mikesch began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Michigan Tech, before he moved on to the USHL's Green Bay Gamblers, where he was an assistant coach for three years, then a head coach for eight seasons. Army played against Walleye Assistant Coach Alden Hirschfeld, as both retired from playing at the end of the 2017-18 season. Wheeling Assistant Coach Mitch Giguere has over a decade of coaching experience, which includes a QJHL Championship at Longueuil Collège-Français. Toledo originally hired Brent Bain as a video/assistant coach in 2017, and he shed the video portion of his title in 2022. ExperienceWheeling: 1,558 North American professional games (0 prior Kelly Cup Champions)Toledo: 2,684 North American professional games (1 prior Kelly Cup Champion)For the second straight round, the Nailers find themselves on the younger end of the age/experience spectrum, but this time around, it's a bit closer. Both teams are only using one of their four available veteran slots (260 pro games or more), and both of those players are defensemen - Wheeling's David Drake and Toledo's Jacob Graves. These are two clubs that are loaded with young and exciting talent, as 22 of the 47 players currently on the rosters are rookies. Despite still being considered a rookie, Matthew Quercia is one of two players (Drake) who suited up with the Nailers the last time they faced Toledo in the second round of the 2022 Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Walleye also have two players who were part of that last head-to-head series - Brandon Hawkins and Conlan Keenan. Hawkins is the only player in the series who has won a Kelly Cup before, which he did with Fort Wayne in 2021. He is also one of two players to have worn both teams' uniforms, as he played for Wheeling in 2019-20, while Michael Prapavessis played in 15 games with the Nailers in 2020-21. The Nailers were originally known as the Thunderbirds, as they relocated from Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1992. WesBanco Arena was known as Wheeling Civic Center at the time, or for diehard fans, the Thunderdome. The building which looks out onto the Ohio River has gone through multiple renovations, with the majority of those taking place since 2014. Toledo's ECHL history began in 1991 as the Storm, who played out of Toledo Sports Arena until its demolition in 2007. Hockey fans in Northwest Ohio waited two years for the sport to return, as Huntington Center opened in 2009 and the Walleye were born. Counting regular season and playoff contests, the cities of Wheeling and Toledo have watched their teams do battle against each other 273 times. Home ice has treated both clubs extremely well thus far in the postseason, as the two teams have a combined 5-0 record, following home win totals of 23 (Toledo) and 21 (Wheeling) during the regular season. ARIZONA - The Dodgers enter the season with more superstar talent than any team in Major League Baseball (MLB). But what makes this group even more special is team depth and versatility. Manager Dave Roberts and President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman have always valued players who can play multiple positions. Chris Taylor has made a name for himself in Los Angeles doing just that.

With the re-signing of Kiké Hernández and the addition of Andre Lipcius, Los Angeles now once again leads the league in super-utility players. “I think they can move everywhere,” said Dave Roberts. Taylor made the All-Star team in 2021, moving all over the infield and outfield. Hernández can play anywhere, having seen time at every position on the diamond, excluding catcher. Yes, he has even pitched before. Lipcius will likely start the season in the minors but will be called upon in the case of injury. Last year, he saw time at first, second, and third base and even spent some time in left field. “I think adding Andre is just another piece of depth, where in a long season, things can happen. So, another guy that can play anywhere on the dirt and conduct an at-bat has sort of been one of our secret sauces on the position player side,” said Roberts. Lipcius got his first crack at big-league action last year with the Detroit Tigers and had a .286 batting average in 13 games. Surprisingly, he was DFAed midway through camp before being scooped up by the Dodgers. “I certainly know bringing Kiké back was a priority, and what CT has done for us over the last five years has been huge, so we expect Andre to fit that same mold,” said Roberts. For Hernández, it is another chance to cement himself further as one of the all-time fan favorites in Dodger Blue. He won a World Series with the team in 2020 and is often viewed as the guy who raises team morale in the dugout and locker room while also coming up with clutch hits in monumental situations.

In the end, it came down to Dodgers or Yankees,” said Hernández. “They were able to guarantee me to at least start against left-handed pitchers to start the year, and then from there on, anything can happen.” When Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, or Freddie Freeman need a day off this season, the lineup will not suffer. Another player will fill in with ease. Most teams would see a significant drop-off, but it is just business as usual for the Dodgers. It would not be surprising for one of the utility guys in Los Angeles to be the star on any given night, as it is something they have done time and time again. The club has assigned defenseman Nikolas Brouillard and forwards Karl Henriksson, Ryder Korczak, and Bobby Trivigno to the Wolf Pack.
