A GUIDE TO FINDING YOUR OWN STYLE: PART. I Y2K ୨୧ ׅ ۫ 𖹭
Tumblr media
The Y2K Era became well-defined by 1997, replacing the Core '90s Era which had been known for its grittier aesthetics such as Grunge. The Spice Girls' single "Wannabe" was released in the U.S. and gained international popularity, leading to a new era in teen pop. Y2K fashion calls back to the biggest trends of the late 90s and early 2000s. It blends the pop culture of the millennium with bright colors and kitschy aesthetics to create an unapologetically maximalist look. One of the key fashion points of the y2k wave are: low raised jeans, crop tops, small handbags and mini skirts. POC POPULARIZED THE STYLE. The fashion icons of the y2k era were Destiny's child, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Christina Aguillera.
Tumblr media
I. TYPES OF THE Y2K STYLE ୨୧ ׅ ۫ 𖹭
1. CYBERCORE
Y2K (also known as Kaybug or Cybercore) is an aesthetic that was prevalent in popular culture from roughly 1997 to 2004, succeeding the Memphis Design and Grunge eras and overlapping with the McBling, UrBling, Surf Crush, and 2K1 aesthetics. Named after the Year 2000 problem, it is characterized by a distinct aesthetic period, encapsulating fashion, hardware design, music, and furnishings shining with tech optimism—sometimes literally. Some of its aspects include tight leather pants, shiny clothing, silver eye shadow, spiky up-dos, Oakleys, gradients, translucence, and Blobitecture. Most Y2K aesthetics rely on the use of technology and slick futuristic looks, signaling the optimism for the 3rd Millennium or 21st Century. The Y2K Era ended around 2004 and was succeeded by the Frutiger Aero era. This style is full of mostly gray, blue, green and black colors. One artist that i think perfectly describes the cybercore concept are XG in their newest concept photos alongside with AESPA that can sometime miss the concept they mainly do.
Tumblr media
2. MCBLING
The McBling aesthetic went into full swing around late 2004 with the release of the movie Mean Girls, the popularization of Myspace, the popularization of emo via Green Day's American Idiot, the phasing-out of 2K1, the iPod becoming a huge status symbol via Apple's silhouette ad campaign, the premieres of Laguna Beach and Lost, and Gwen Stefani starting her solo career, further hastening the end of the Y2K era. McBling was concurrent or overlapped with a number of other 2000s aesthetics, such as UrBling, Surf Crush, 2K7, and Frutiger Aero. This led into the ElectroPop 08/Hipster/Jersey Shore Era, which lasted from about 2008 to 2013. On social media in recent years, the McBling aesthetic has grown in popularity, albeit it is often lumped with or mistaken for the Y2K aesthetic. The colors of this style are: pink, white, silver and gold.
Tumblr media
3. DARK Y2K
Instead of lighter and brighter colors, like pinks and pastels, the Dark Y2K aesthetic heavily revolves around colors like black, grey, deep blue, dark purple, and dark green. However, hot pinks are also seen in Dark Y2K fashion. The Dark Y2K visual focuses on freedom and youth, and rebelling. Visuals that are typically seen in the aesthetic are low-rise jeans and belts, with lipgloss and sometimes even glitter eyeshadow. Some of the styles worn could even be viewed as provocative. The 2003 film Thirteen can be seen as an influence to Dark Y2K fashion and visuals, with its main characters wearing cropped tops, low-rise jeans with a noticeable thong, and studded belts. The main characters are also seen rebelling and sneaking out, and getting tongue and bellybutton piercings.

Kim Kardashian's influence was undeniably strong from the second half of the 2000s to the present. However, Kim is more than this carefully curated sex object she display for all of us. This Blog would be a timeline of Kim's achievements and setbacks throughout her career, with her job titles aligning after her leaked sextape with her then-boyfriend Ray J. Then it followed a pattern with American Pop Culture trends such as being a Reality TV star during the golden age of Reality TV in the 2000s. Then, as social media began to gain popularity. She quickly hopped on the trend and started influencing most notably on Instagram throughout the 2010's and later in the decade when social issues were brought to light and recognized in America. She became a Human activist for Prison Reform. Finally, for the 2020s she plans to focus more on connecting with the fashion industry and solidifying herself as a fashion icon for many European fashion houses. With honorable mentions for entering new industries such as personal financing companies, celebrity video games, lingerie clothing companies, fragrance, and makeup business ventures that were either a massive success or a massive failure throughout her career from the 2000's to the present.
Aside from her business and career ventures, her physical appearances have changed dramatically, and I will discuss the rise of the Hourglass body and The Brazilian Butt Lift or also known as "BBL" operation that spread like wildfire throughout the 2010's, as well as the current rise of a Slimmer body that began to attract attraction post Covid due to the comeback of trends of the 2000's and discuss many of the public speculations on how she attained her new body physique with either normal diet and exercise, reversing her plastic surgery, or most notably this now viral diabetes drug with one of the most well-known side effects which is massive weight loss.
Her style evolved dramatically from pre-Kayne, during Kim and Kayne's marriage, and Post-Divorce styles of being trendsetting or following a trend that shows a visual point in America's Pop culture and what is the craziest trends and latest fads of the 2000's, 2010's, and finally the 2020's.
These are the three main components of Kim Kardashian's recipe for becoming America's Favorite Sex Object. On the surface, it appears to be beautiful, but in reality, it removes the human from her.

Kanye West: no American icon has ever self-destructed so spectacularly
This article is more than 1 month old
Andrew Lawrence
Tumblr media
Sat 29 Oct 2022 03.00 EDT
No longer was West the dorky producer turned rapper agitating to break out of Jay-Z’s shadow. He had become something even bigger: a true star. The only person who could stop Kanye was Kanye – or Ye, as he’s preferred to be known of late.
Now his empire lies in a smoldering heap in the wake of the 45-year-old artist’s October media blitz.
West himself says he lost $2bn in a single daythis week.
First there was the smear campaign against his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, then the White Lives Matter fashion statement in Paris, then his complete transformation into an alt-right puppet. And it crescendoed with West’s fusillade of unprompted antisemitic commentary, starting with him needling the Kushner family during an hourlong Tucker Carlson sit-down in early October, that cost West his diverse portfolio.
Gap, JP Morgan and Creative Artists Agency are among a raft of partners that quickly cut ties. All the while West dug in, claiming on a podcast appearance that Adidas – whom West teamed with after leaving Nike – would never leave him regardless of how many more antisemitic assertions he made.
But a week later, Adidas went their own way too, a move the company reckons cost them $246m in potential fourth-quarter earnings. Overall, West’s Yeezy line accounted for as much as 8% of Adidas’s bottom line. No wonder it took them a week to break up with him.
We’re a long way from the days when a Kanye drop used to mean something else entirely, a deeply immersive sound collage from the vanguard of pop music’s new wave. After years of being typecast as a producer, albeit one who had a hand in Jay-Z’s seminal Blueprint album, West crossed over into emceeing in 2003 with The College Dropout – which didn’t just distinguish him from the gangsta rappers of the era, but made preppy style and nerd idolatry cool. Two years later he consolidated that break with Late Registration, a Billboard blockbuster that marked a sea change in pop music.
West may not have been gangsta in the 50 Cent mold, but he was tough in his own way. He had his own near-death moment, a 2002 car crash that shattered his jaw. During an emergency surgery, a metal plate was inserted into his chin and his jaw was wired shut – a fortunate outcome that nonetheless would disadvantage an aspiring rapper. But West used the experience, rapping about it over a sped-up Chaka Khan hit. That single, Through the Wire, became the lead single of The College Dropout and announced West as a talent who could not be deterred.
Tumblr media
And yet, astonishingly: he nearly survived every controversy until Adidas changed their number and things came to a head this month. Now, with just about all his collaborators gone, West isn’t just off Forbes’ billionaires list. He’s a toxic asset. Not even the rightwing pundit Candace Owens will have him on her show now – and West was supposed to buy the rightwing social network Parler off her chief executive husband. Loyal fans who took West’s antics as judo moves to get out of his apparel brand deals surely must feel let down after hearing West made an unsolicited visit to Skechers’ LA offices and was shooed away. “I don’t think a board of directors in a million months of Sundays would ever allow a business to touch him again,” says Matt Baker, the chief strategy officer at the brand management firm Deutsch NY.
Where West’s rise beat the odds, his downfall beggars belief. No American icon has ever self-destructed so spectacularly – not the actors (Mel Gibson, Isaiah Washington), TV creepers (Matt Lauer, Bill O’Reilly), sports heroes (Michael Vick, Joe Paterno) or even the tabloid targets (Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan). Even Roseanne Barr, who once dressed as Hitler and was finally written off her own TV reboot after a racist one-liner about former White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, didn’t have her fingers in as many pies as West – not only desperate for new partners, but a new divorce attorney, too. Camille Vasquez, the attorney who redeemed Johnny Depp, won’t touch West, either.
It’s only in recent days that West has trialed an apology on Lex Fridman’s podcast, another unoriginal version of the “if I offended” word salad. But it didn’t make things better for the students of his briefly shuttered Donda Academy, or vindicate his tarnishing of George Floyd – or stop him from spouting more offensive rhetoric. But with Ye’s billions reduced to millions and JP Morgan no longer willing to grant him loans against his net worth or otherwise engage the classic rich guy tax avoidance game, West might soon find the only entity willing to engage him is the IRS – and for them, Heartless is more than a West anthem. It’s modus operandi, too.
Kanye West had it all – wealth, power, status, autonomy. But in the end it wasn’t enough. There was no predicting it would come crashing down so dramatically. And yet there’s still no telling how much farther he could fall.

The Community and World of Makeup Artists
Makeup is an artistic, transformational, and self-expression technique in addition to being a cosmetic to improve look. From the sparkling crimson lips of Old Hollywood actors to the kohl-lined eyelids of the ancient Egyptians, humanity have been using makeup for decades. Makeup artists have been instrumental in the development of makeup as not only a multimillion dollar industry but also a potent artistic medium.
The Development of Cosmetics
The history of makeup dates back thousands of years. Crushed insects and valuable stones were combined to create vivid paints for the lips and cheeks used by the ancient Egyptians. They also lined their eyes with kohl to protect themselves spiritually as much as aesthetically.
Pale complexion was considered a sign of riches and prestige during the Renaissance, a habit that was harmful to one's health. This was accomplished using lead particles. With the rise in popularity of Hollywood films in the 20th century, cosmetics became more widely available. Stars like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn made the dramatic red lips and winged eyeliner popular, which would later become iconic looks.
Influenced by fashion, music, and subcultures, makeup developed as a tool for identity and self-expression in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Throughout history, makeup has represented uniqueness and creativity in a variety of ways. Examples include the bold, cutting-edge looks of contemporary influencers and the daring punk makeup of the 1970s.
A beauty or editorial makeup artist is one kind of makeup artist that produces looks for runway shows, photo sessions, and ads. They are heavily involved in the fashion industry. To ensure that their work features the newest trends and accentuates the inherent beauty of their models, they must remain ahead of the curve. Pat McGrath, the renowned fashion designer, is renowned for his ability to push boundaries and create bold, futuristic looks for editorial spaces.
Bridal Makeup Artists: These artists specialize in bridal makeup and focus on creating stunning, long-lasting looks for brides. Making the bride look beautiful not only in person but also in the photos and videos that capture the day is challenging.
Bridal makeup artists need to be proficient in both traditional and airbrush makeup techniques in order to produce a beautiful finish.
Theatrical and Film Makeup Artists: In the worlds of theater and film, makeup artists are responsible for bringing characters life. This includes everything from historically correct costumes to special effects makeup, which may include generating new species, aging effects, or wounds. Artists like Rick Baker, who became well-known for his work on films like An American Werewolf in London, have revolutionized the SFX makeup industry with their creative techniques.
Special Effects (SFX) Makeup Artists: SFX artists use latex, silicone, makeup, and other materials to create realistic prostheses, injuries, and otherworldly monsters.
This type of labor is highly specialized, involving not just mold-making and sculpting techniques but also cosmetics understanding.
Celebrity and Individual Makeup Artists: These artists usually work with well-known clients for social media campaigns, TV appearances, and red carpet events, such as celebrities and influencers. Often, they don't have enough time to prepare perfect, camera-ready looks.
The Impact of Social Media on Cosmetics
There have been developments in the makeup artistry industry due to social media. A new generation of beauty influencers has emerged as a result of makeup artists being able to present their work to a worldwide audience through platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. Thanks to these platforms, artists can now freely build their brands and cosmetics are now more accessible to a global audience.
Social Media's Effect on Cosmetics
Social networking has brought about changes in the makeup artistry sector. Thanks to sites like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, makeup artists can now showcase their work to a global audience, giving rise to a new breed of beauty influencers. These platforms have democratized the beauty industry by enabling artists to freely launch their own businesses and increasing makeup accessibility for a wider audience.
Prominent makeup artists such as Jackie Aina, James Charles, and NikkiTutorials have amassed substantial wealth through their digital platforms.

NFL Football: A Jolly Good Show
The NFL is not just a sport; it’s a spectacle — a grand show that captivates millions of fans around the globe. From the thrilling touchdowns to the nail-biting comebacks, the NFL delivers a weekly dose of drama, athleticism, and entertainment. But what makes NFL football such a “jolly good show”? Let’s dive into the elements that make the NFL a must-watch event.
The Unmatched Spectacle
Every NFL game is a production, a carefully choreographed event where the stakes are high, and the emotions run even higher. From the moment the teams take the field, fans are treated to a visual feast: the bright lights, the roaring crowds, and the immaculate fields that set the stage for a day of excitement. The pre-game rituals, the anthems, and the flyovers all build anticipation, making the kickoff a moment of pure adrenaline.
But it’s not just the game itself that’s a show — everything surrounding it contributes to the spectacle. The halftime performances, often featuring big-name artists, have become iconic in their own right, with the Super Bowl halftime show being one of the most-watched musical events in the world. The NFL knows how to put on a show, and it’s this understanding of entertainment that keeps fans coming back week after week.
The Drama on the Gridiron
What sets the NFL apart from other sports is the unpredictability of the game. Every week, underdogs rise, giants fall, and last-minute plays change the course of an entire season. The tension that builds up as the clock winds down is palpable, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.
Consider the Cinderella stories of teams that defy the odds to make deep playoff runs, or the fierce rivalries that produce some of the most intense matchups in sports. These narratives give each game a unique storyline, transforming it from a mere contest into a drama where anything can happen. The NFL is a league where legends are born in a single play, and where every game can turn into a jolly good show.
The Characters We Love (and Love to Hate)
The NFL is home to some of the most charismatic and larger-than-life personalities in sports. From the cool, calculated Tom Brady to the electric Patrick Mahomes, the league is filled with players who not only excel on the field but also capture the imagination of fans off it. These athletes become household names, their every move scrutinized and celebrated.
But it’s not just the players who make the NFL a spectacle; the coaches, commentators, and even the fans themselves add to the drama. Whether it’s a legendary coach like Bill Belichick working his magic on the sidelines, or a passionate fanbase like the “12th Man” in Seattle, the characters of the NFL are integral to the show. And let’s not forget the villains — the players or teams that fans love to root against, adding another layer of excitement to every game.
The Cultural Impact
The NFL is more than just a game — it’s a cultural phenomenon. From the iconic Super Bowl commercials to the memes that flood social media every Sunday, the NFL has a way of permeating pop culture. The league’s influence extends far beyond the field, impacting everything from fashion to music to politics.
Consider the annual Super Bowl, which has become a de facto national holiday in the United States. It’s a day where even those who aren’t regular football fans tune in for the commercials, the halftime show, and, of course, the game itself. The NFL has a way of bringing people together, creating shared experiences that resonate long after the final whistle blows.
The Global Reach
While American football is often seen as a uniquely American sport, the NFL’s reach is truly global. From London to Mexico City, the NFL has been expanding its footprint, bringing the game to new audiences and creating a global fanbase. The International Series games, where NFL teams play in cities outside the U.S., are a testament to the league’s growing popularity around the world.
For international fans, the NFL represents a slice of American culture, a jolly good show that offers a glimpse into the passion and excitement that the sport generates in the U.S. And as the league continues to grow its international presence, the NFL is poised to become a truly global phenomenon.
The Future of the Show
As the NFL continues to evolve, one thing is certain: the show will go on. With advancements in technology, new stadiums, and an ever-expanding fanbase, the NFL is set to deliver even bigger and better spectacles in the years to come. Whether it’s through virtual reality experiences, interactive fan engagements, or new ways to watch the game, the future of the NFL promises to be as thrilling as its past.
In the end, the NFL is more than just football — it’s a jolly good show that entertains, excites, and unites fans from all walks of life. So, whether you’re a die-hard fan or a casual viewer, sit back, relax, and enjoy the spectacle that is NFL football.

Leather Jackets and American Diner Culture: A Timeless Love Affair
American culture is a rich tapestry of traditions, styles, and subcultures that have evolved over the decades. Among the most iconic of these cultural elements are leather jackets and American diners, both of which symbolize a bygone era yet remain profoundly influential today. Explore variety of Leather Jackets at Cuir Jackets USA. This article explores the fascinating intersection of leather jackets and American diner culture, examining how they have come to represent the quintessential American experience.
The Origins of Leather Jackets
Leather jackets first emerged as practical garments designed for functionality and durability. In the early 1900s, they were primarily worn by aviators and military personnel, offering protection against harsh weather conditions. The classic leather flight jacket, known as the A-2, became a symbol of bravery and adventure during World War II.
The post-war era saw leather jackets transition from military apparel to mainstream fashion. This shift was largely influenced by Hollywood, where iconic actors like Marlon Brando in "The Wild One" (1953) and James Dean in "Rebel Without a Cause" (1955) sported leather jackets, cementing their status as symbols of rebellion and coolness. These films and their stars played a pivotal role in embedding leather jackets into American popular culture.
The Rise of American Diners
Simultaneously, the American diner was becoming a staple of the American landscape. The concept of the diner dates back to the late 19th century, with mobile lunch wagons serving factory workers. By the 1920s and 1930s, diners had evolved into stationary establishments, characterized by their streamlined designs, neon signs, and stainless steel interiors.
American diners represented more than just a place to eat; they were social hubs where people from all walks of life could gather. The affordable prices and extensive menus made diners accessible to everyone, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Diners were particularly popular during the post-war economic boom, becoming synonymous with American prosperity and the burgeoning car culture.
The Cultural Intersection
The 1950s and 1960s were pivotal decades for both leather jackets and American diners. As young people sought to carve out their own identities, they gravitated towards symbols of rebellion and individuality. Leather jackets became a uniform for the burgeoning youth culture, symbolizing defiance against societal norms.
American diners, with their 24-hour service and casual atmosphere, became the perfect backdrop for this cultural revolution. Teenagers and young adults flocked to diners to socialize, listen to rock 'n' roll music, and express their newfound freedom. The diner was a place where one could linger over a cup of coffee or a milkshake, clad in a leather jacket, and discuss dreams, aspirations, and the latest trends.
The marriage of leather jackets and diners was immortalized in popular media. TV shows like "Happy Days" and movies like "Grease" captured the essence of this era, depicting leather-clad characters congregating in neon-lit diners. These portrayals reinforced the association between leather jackets and the diner experience, creating an enduring image in the collective American psyche.
The Evolution of Style and Culture
As the decades progressed, both leather jackets and American diners evolved, adapting to changing tastes and societal shifts. In the 1970s and 1980s, leather jackets found new life in the punk and rock scenes. Bands like The Ramones and The Sex Pistols embraced leather jackets as part of their edgy, anti-establishment aesthetic. This period saw the emergence of various styles of leather jackets, from the classic biker jacket to the sleek bomber jacket.
Meanwhile, diners faced challenges as fast food chains gained popularity. Many diners closed their doors, unable to compete with the efficiency and marketing power of franchises like McDonald's and Burger King. However, those that survived did so by capitalizing on their nostalgic appeal and unique charm. Vintage diners became beloved landmarks, preserving a slice of Americana for future generations.
Contemporary Resurgence
Today, leather jackets and American diners continue to hold a special place in American culture. Leather jackets are a staple in contemporary fashion, embraced by designers and worn by celebrities, musicians, and everyday people alike. The versatility of leather jackets allows them to transcend trends, making them a timeless wardrobe essential.
American diners have experienced a resurgence as well. The farm-to-table movement and a growing interest in retro aesthetics have led to a renewed appreciation for diners. Many modern diners blend classic elements with contemporary twists, offering gourmet takes on traditional diner fare while maintaining the iconic look and feel.
The Enduring Legacy
The enduring legacy of leather jackets and American diners lies in their ability to evoke a sense of nostalgia and timeless coolness. They represent an era of freedom, rebellion, and cultural transformation that continues to resonate with people of all ages. The leather jacket, once a symbol of rebellion, is now a versatile fashion staple, while the American diner remains a cherished institution, offering comfort and community in an ever-changing world.
Leather jackets and American diners are more than just clothing and eateries; they are symbols of a cultural legacy that celebrates individuality, freedom, and the American spirit. Whether you’re donning a leather jacket or enjoying a milkshake in a vintage diner, you are participating in a rich tradition that has shaped and continues to shape the American experience.
In conclusion, the connection between leather jackets and American diner culture is a testament to their enduring appeal and significance in American society. They encapsulate a sense of identity, history, and a love for the open road and endless possibilities. As we move forward, these icons will undoubtedly continue to inspire and influence, reminding us of the timeless allure of the American dream.

The Evolution of Sneaker Culture in the USA: From Sports to Streetwear
Sneakers have transcended their athletic origins to become an integral part of fashion and culture in the USA. This evolution from sports gear to streetwear staple is a fascinating journey marked by innovation, influence, and individuality. At Soles Art, we celebrate this rich history and the significant impact sneakers have had on American culture. Let’s take a closer look at the evolution of sneaker culture in the USA.
The Early Years: Function Over Fashion
In the early 20th century, sneakers were primarily designed for sports and physical activities. The Converse All-Star, introduced in 1917, became one of the first popular basketball shoes. It was endorsed by Charles “Chuck” Taylor, whose signature helped boost its appeal. During this period, sneakers were valued for their functionality, offering athletes the necessary support and traction.
The Rise of Iconic Brands
The 1950s and 1960s saw the emergence of brands that would become synonymous with sneakers. Adidas, founded in Germany, gained international recognition when Jesse Owens wore their spikes during the 1936 Olympics. Nike, originally known as Blue Ribbon Sports, was established in 1964 and would soon revolutionize the sneaker industry.
In 1972, Nike introduced the Cortez, a running shoe that combined comfort and style. This period also saw the birth of the Adidas Superstar and the Puma Suede, which would later play significant roles in the hip-hop and streetwear scenes.
The Birth of Sneaker Culture: 1980s
The 1980s marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of sneaker culture. This era saw the convergence of sports, music, and fashion, propelling sneakers into the mainstream. Two major influences during this time were Michael Jordan and hip-hop.
When Nike released the Air Jordan 1 in 1985, it not only revolutionized basketball shoes but also set the stage for sneakers as fashion statements. Michael Jordan’s incredible career and the innovative design of Air Jordans created a frenzy, making them highly sought-after both on and off the court.
Simultaneously, hip-hop culture was rising in prominence. Artists like Run-D.M.C. popularized sneakers in their music and style. Their song “My Adidas” and the group's endorsement deal with Adidas solidified the sneaker’s place in hip-hop culture. Sneakers became symbols of identity and self-expression.
The 1990s: Sneakers as Cultural Icons
The 1990s continued to blur the lines between athletic wear and fashion. Sneakers like the Nike Air Max, Reebok Pump, and Vans Old Skool gained popularity. This decade also saw the rise of sneaker collaborations, where brands partnered with athletes, musicians, and designers to create limited-edition releases.
Basketball remained a dominant influence with players like Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson getting their own signature shoes. The decade also saw the introduction of lifestyle sneakers designed for everyday wear, reflecting a growing trend of athleisure.
The 2000s: Sneakerheads and Collecting Culture
The turn of the millennium brought about the phenomenon of sneakerheads—dedicated collectors and enthusiasts who are passionate about sneakers. Limited-edition releases, retro reissues, and exclusive collaborations fueled the sneakerhead culture. Websites, forums, and social media platforms emerged, allowing enthusiasts to share their collections, trade, and discuss upcoming releases.
Brands like Nike, Adidas, and New Balance capitalized on this trend by releasing coveted limited-edition sneakers. The sneaker resale market also began to thrive, with certain models fetching thousands of dollars. Sneakers were no longer just footwear; they became valuable commodities.
The Present: Streetwear Dominance
In the 2010s and beyond, sneakers have firmly established themselves as key elements of streetwear. Collaborations with high-fashion designers, artists, and influencers have blurred the lines between luxury and street style. Brands like Supreme, Off-White, and Yeezy have redefined sneaker aesthetics, making them essential items for fashion-forward individuals.

The History of Fashion Shows: From Paris to New York
Tumblr media
Fashion shows have evolved dramatically since their inception, reflecting the changing dynamics of the fashion industry and society's relationship with style and self-expression. From intimate salons in Paris to grandiose runways in New York, the history of fashion shows is a fascinating journey through time, innovation, and cultural shifts.
The Birth of Fashion Shows in Paris
The concept of the fashion show as we know it today originated in Paris in the mid-19th century. Charles Frederick Worth, often regarded as the father of haute couture, is credited with pioneering the first fashion shows. Worth revolutionized fashion presentation by creating live model presentations, known as "fashion parades," to showcase his designs to select clients in his Parisian salon.
These early fashion parades were exclusive events, attended by high-society women who had the means and influence to set trends. Worth's innovative approach not only elevated the status of fashion designers but also transformed the way clothing was marketed and perceived.
The Golden Age of Couture
The early 20th century marked the golden age of couture in Paris. Designers like Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Yves Saint Laurent continued to develop the tradition of fashion shows, turning them into elaborate productions. Paris became the epicenter of fashion, with its twice-yearly haute couture shows setting the global standard for luxury and style.
During this period, fashion shows were characterized by their elegance and exclusivity. Held in opulent venues, these shows were attended by a privileged few, including wealthy clients, socialites, and fashion editors. The presentation of each collection was a meticulously curated event, emphasizing the craftsmanship and artistry of haute couture.
The Rise of Ready-to-Wear
The post-World War II era saw significant changes in the fashion industry, particularly with the rise of ready-to-wear (prêt-à-porter) fashion. Designers began producing more accessible and affordable collections, leading to the democratization of fashion. Fashion shows evolved to accommodate this shift, becoming more inclusive and diverse.
In the 1960s and 1970s, fashion shows began to move beyond the exclusive salons of Paris. New York emerged as a major fashion capital, thanks to designers like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Donna Karan, who embraced the concept of ready-to-wear. The New York Fashion Week, established in 1943 as "Press Week," gained prominence, offering a platform for American designers to showcase their collections to a broader audience.
The Spectacle of Modern Fashion Shows
The 1980s and 1990s witnessed the transformation of fashion shows into grand spectacles. Designers like Gianni Versace and Karl Lagerfeld turned runway presentations into theatrical productions, featuring elaborate sets, dramatic lighting, and live music. These shows became cultural events, attracting celebrities, media, and global attention.
The introduction of supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, and Kate Moss further elevated the allure of fashion shows. These iconic figures brought star power to the runway, making fashion shows must-see events and solidifying their place in popular culture.
The Digital Age and Virtual Fashion Shows
The 21st century has brought about significant technological advancements, impacting the way fashion shows are produced and consumed. The rise of social media and live streaming has made fashion shows accessible to a global audience in real-time. Platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok allow fashion enthusiasts to experience runway shows from the comfort of their homes, democratizing fashion like never before.
The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of virtual fashion shows, as physical events were canceled or limited. Designers and fashion houses embraced digital innovations, creating immersive virtual experiences using augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and 3D modeling. These virtual fashion shows have expanded the creative possibilities for designers and provided new ways to engage with audiences.
The Future of Fashion Shows
As the fashion industry continues to evolve, so too will the format and purpose of fashion shows. Sustainability, inclusivity, and technological innovation are likely to shape the future of fashion presentations. Designers are increasingly focusing on eco-friendly practices, such as reducing waste and carbon footprints, which may influence the scale and nature of future shows.
Inclusivity is also becoming a central theme, with a growing emphasis on diversity in model casting and representation. Fashion shows are gradually reflecting a broader range of body types, ethnicities, and gender identities, promoting a more inclusive vision of beauty and style.
Conclusion
The history of fashion shows is a testament to the enduring power of fashion as a form of art and self-expression. From the intimate salons of Paris to the global stage of New York, fashion shows have evolved to reflect the changing dynamics of society and the fashion industry. As we look to the future, fashion shows will continue to adapt and innovate, offering exciting possibilities for designers, models, and fashion enthusiasts alike.

Kim Kardashian Similarities to Marilyn Monroe
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Source)
(Source)
Some may say it's an obsession. Others may say Kim Kardashian is our Marliyn Monroe of our time. One Thing is certain, these two women in our recent herstory have broken boundaries and set standards, fashion, and most importantly the glamorous aesthetics in the two powerful platforms in their respective times. With Marliyn being seen and viewed as the most beautiful and glamorous woman in Hollywood’s Golden age or most famously known as “Old Hollywood”. Fast forwarding to the 2010’s with the rise of technology in our society and the rise of social media. Kim Kardashian used it as her advantage and created this hyper feminine and glamorous aesthetic for our time.
Both women capitalized and used the Male Gaze in their favor to create careers and distant themself to other competitors. It worked out in their favor and made them Iconic in American pop culture.
When you think of Old Hollywood, what first comes to mind? Marliyn Monroe is one of the first thoughts that came to mind.
When you think of the Queen of Selfies or name a celebrity who’s famous for having a big behind, what first comes to mind? Kim Kardashian.
The comparison of these two women are endless with both woman having an hourglass figure and both woman are seen in fashion and both woman are used as adjectives to describes things such as “Marilyn Monroe effect” or “The Kardashian affect” both describing the essence of what these two women are known for.
The last comparison I'll be talking about is when Kim Kardashian wore Marilyn Monroe’s iconic “Happy Birthday Dress” which was created by French fashion designer Jean Louis based off a sketch of a then 21 year old Bob Mackie an American designer who was fresh out of school at the time. It was the first time the dress was worn out in public since 1962. Kim Kardashian famously states that she “needed to lose 16 pounds in under three weeks to fit into the original dress.” the dress being worn stir a lot of controversy with Kim Kardashian having both designers both stating that "it was a big mistake" since the dress was created just for Marilyn Monroe to wear due to the dress being perfect fit to Marilyn due to the dress being custom made and sewn onto her moments before her going out to sing Happy Birthday to our 35th U.S President, John F. Kennedy. Also another point that added more fuel to fire was that it went against the Met Gala main point because the point of The Met Gala was to preserve these historical and landmark pieces of clothing to the museum and Kim Kardashian might potentially damage a piece of fashion history but also American History that cannot be replaced.
As a fan to both of these women, the dress should’ve never been touched out of respect of Marilyn Monroe's legacy and what remains authentic to Marilyn Monroe should be preserved and not risk the potential damage. Kim Kardashian publicly stating that she’s a fan of Marilyn Monroe and wouldn't risk to damage the dress or any of her belongings. However, Kim Kardashian did gave Marilyn Monroe media coverage again and connected Marilyn Monroe to one of the most glamorous events of the year and pay homage to Marilyn Monroe to the second part of the Met Gala American theme of “Gilded Glamour”

When Did Preppy Products Become Popular?
In the world of fashion, trends come and go, but some styles stand the test of time. Among them is the iconic preppy style, a look characterized by its polished, classic, and clean-cut appearance. But when did preppy products become popular? To answer that, we'll need to delve into the history of preppy fashion, its evolution, and its lasting impact on modern style.
Tumblr media
A Brief History of Preppy Style
The Ivy League Origins (1910s-1950s)
The roots of preppy style can be traced back to the early 20th century, particularly within the Ivy League schools of the northeastern United States. Institutions like Harvard, Yale, and Princeton became the epicenters of this budding fashion trend. Students at these prestigious universities began adopting a look that combined traditional British attire with a relaxed American twist. Read more at our website
Key elements of early preppy fashion included:
Blazers and Sport Coats: Often paired with khakis or chinos.
Button-Down Shirts: Typically in white or pastel colors.
Loafers and Boat Shoes: Footwear that was both stylish and practical.
Sweaters: V-neck and crewneck sweaters became staples, often worn over collared shirts.
The Mainstream Explosion (1960s-1980s)
While preppy style had its origins in elite educational institutions, it wasn't until the mid-20th century that it began to permeate mainstream culture. The 1960s saw a significant shift as brands like Brooks Brothers, J. Press, and Ralph Lauren started to popularize the look beyond the confines of Ivy League campuses.
Notable Influences:
Ralph Lauren: In 1967, Ralph Lauren introduced his Polo line, which epitomized the preppy aesthetic. Polo shirts, chinos, and navy blazers became synonymous with preppy fashion.
Television and Film: TV shows like "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and movies such as "Love Story" showcased characters dressed in quintessential preppy attire, further cementing the style in popular culture.
The Preppy Handbook (1980s)
The release of "The Official Preppy Handbook" in 1980 marked a pivotal moment in the history of preppy fashion. Written by Lisa Birnbach, the book humorously yet accurately captured the essence of preppy lifestyle and fashion, effectively turning it into a cultural phenomenon. It provided readers with insights into everything from wardrobe essentials to social etiquette, solidifying preppy style as a coveted and aspirational look.
The Evolution of Preppy Fashion
The 1990s Resurgence
After experiencing a decline in the late 1980s, preppy style made a comeback in the 1990s. This resurgence was largely driven by a renewed interest in vintage fashion and the growing popularity of brands like Tommy Hilfiger, which embraced preppy aesthetics with a modern twist.
Key trends of the 1990s included:
Bold Colors and Logos: Brands incorporated vibrant colors and prominent logos into their designs.
Casual Preppy: The blending of casual and preppy elements, such as pairing polo shirts with jeans.
Preppy in the 21st Century
As we entered the new millennium, preppy fashion continued to evolve while staying true to its core principles of classic elegance and refined simplicity. The early 2000s saw brands like Abercrombie & Fitch and Vineyard Vines reinterpreting preppy style for a younger audience.
Modern Preppy Brands:
J.Crew: Known for its timeless and versatile pieces that embody the preppy ethos.
Lilly Pulitzer: Famous for its bright, colorful prints and resort wear.
Southern Tide: A brand that infuses Southern charm into traditional preppy attire.
The Digital Age and Social Media
The rise of social media platforms like Instagram and Pinterest has played a significant role in keeping preppy fashion relevant in the 21st century. Influencers and fashion bloggers have taken to showcasing their preppy outfits online, creating a global community of preppy style enthusiasts. This digital exposure has helped preppy fashion reach new audiences and maintain its status as a timeless and adaptable style.
Why Preppy Style Endures
So, what is it about preppy fashion that has allowed it to remain popular for over a century? Several factors contribute to its enduring appeal:
Timelessness: Preppy fashion is built on classic pieces that never go out of style. Items like blazers, loafers, and button-down shirts are versatile and always in fashion.
Simplicity: The clean lines and understated elegance of preppy attire make it accessible and easy to wear for various occasions.
Versatility: Preppy fashion can be dressed up or down, making it suitable for everything from casual outings to formal events.

An American Tradition: The High School Prom and Its Fashion Evolution
The high school prom is an iconic event that holds a special place in the hearts of many American teenagers.
Introduction
The high school prom is an iconic event that holds a special place in the hearts of many American teenagers. It is a night filled with excitement, glamour, and memories that last a lifetime. In this blog, we will delve into the history of the high school prom, exploring its origins, cultural significance, and the evolving fashion trends that have shaped this important dance.
A Glimpse into the Past
The concept of prom can be traced back to the early 20th century, when it emerged as a formal event held for graduating seniors. Initially, proms were simple affairs, usually held in school gymnasiums or community centers. The focus was on socializing, dancing, and bidding farewell to the graduating class. However, it was in the 1950s that the high school prom truly started to gain popularity and evolve into the extravagant event we know today. With the influence of Hollywood movies and the rise of the teenage culture, proms became more elaborate, mirroring the glamorous world of celebrities and high society.
The Cultural Significance
The high school prom holds deep cultural significance in American society. For many teenagers, it is seen as a rite of passage, symbolizing the transition from adolescence to adulthood. It is a night when students come together to celebrate their achievements, create memories, and bid farewell to their high school years.
The Prom Fashion Evolution
One of the most exciting aspects of the high school prom is undoubtedly the fashion. Over the years, prom fashion has undergone significant transformations, reflecting the changing trends and styles of each era.
