Sprites, Ideas, and a change of plans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, I going to hold off on making full games, I'm to test things in Godot and experiment, I've learned how to make player character, I also learned how to make first person and third person, I also learned a little bit about making basic ai enemies and states for them (Wondering, idle and fleeing), I learned a bit about shaders, I learned how to make basic menus, I learned a bit about making weapons like that sword sprite, doing a attack and doing damage to the slime enemy, I made a basic health system for the enemy slime, and it makes the slime disappear when the health is at 0. Still a bit confused on what do from here, I'm basically in tutorial and chatgpt hell when comes to learning this program, but I will make my own autistic learning guide for Godot because, I'm still confused about a 90% of stuff on Godot, I know mostly all of the nodes but I still don't understand what the code does, like I understand some of the code because Godot's code is easy to read but I don't know how to compile it together, so it works.
This game is going to be a 2.5D Game. I want make this game like cult of the lamb and Great God Grove, Like make game being in 3d but with 2d sprites (A mix of pixel and hand drawn art). This world is fantasy. Shoot em up or Hack and Slash, Procedurally-Generated/ Randomly Generated. Attacking using tarot cards with different attacks and spells. I also want to have Hylic's designs ideas.
What am I going to learn next:
Code How to spawn monsters on a specific place
fix bugs with attacking.
fix bugs with enemy.
update and add stuff to enemy ai.
fix and update sprites.
try to add shaders to make the game look cool.
Add item collection.
Add textures on walls and floors.
Make health bars show up on screen.
Make procedural generation.

random brainstorming about AI
imagine if instead of stealing art and being used for scams ai instead was built into all devices (phones, tablets, laptops) as an automatic assistant. bear with me
currently ai is mostly accessible via websites which means all you can have is a text box and image uploading (there are some exceptions, chatgpt has a desktop app and phone app but the functionality is the same)
if ai was actually built into the OS itself, instead of always having a million menus to navigate the ai could literally just do it all for you via text commands the assistant could just do menial tasks like clean up your desktop or sort folders or change settings for you
it would also effectively take the place of a standard search engine, instead of having to open a browser tab and google something you just ask the ai that's already there
it could also have a data repository (something like a compressed just-text version of wikipedia) for if you're offline
all this functionality is literally super easy for current ai in terms of actual computing power, it's just a hardware integration issue
devices could be made with ai button triggers or gestures on touchscreens to ask it stuff
right now the current methods of ai still have a lot of friction, only in a few specific cases is it frictionless enough to be worth using instead of google or whatever
(most of that is solely due to the task and not the friction of the ai)
hardware integration would actually truly make it frictionless, and would majorly speed up pretty much everything you do on every device
some other benefits of just integrating the ai directly into the OS are instant tech support for anyone that's tech illiterate, it's essentially a perfect automatic screenshare with an IT professional + the general ability to ask about anything on your screen without having to screenshot it and send it to the ai (extreme friction)
this is less of an objective fact but i kind of think the "talking to ai via voice" thing would catch on more if it could "see" your screen and you could use the screen as sort of an interfacing medium for it to understand whatever you're asking about (edited)
if this was actually implemented well i honestly think browsers would overall become kind of obsolete, if you can just ask the ai to link an article about something you really don't need a browser to search for stuff, you just need to view the webpage
overall i think phones/tablets benefit from this the least (touchscreens are inherently super frictionless Uls, and typing is hard) but could still take some pointers
for desktops/laptops i'm envisioning a system that is based around essentially a screenshot mechanic, but that screenshot immediately gets analyzed by the assistant and you just type dialogue right as you take it, to ask the ai about what you're seeing
could even be something like a button press signaling that you want the ai to pay attention to whatever you're pointing at with the cursor
the ultimate goal is just make the most frictionless UI so the use cases increase, because it is actually very useful if there isn't friction
big mistake everyone in ai seems to be making is thinking use cases are tied to the computing power/functional capabilities of the ai when actually use cases are mostly tied to how frictionless its UI is

Conversational AI in Healthcare: 7 High-Impact Use Cases
Tumblr media
Open AI’s ChatGPT dropped and went mainstream in November 2022, and since then, businesses of all sizes, in B2B and B2C, across industry verticals, are looking to integrate Conversational AI or Generative AI into their workflow. The end goals, unlocking efficiency, productivity, and time-to-market. Additionally, companies want to expedite their processes and create convenience. So, it was a matter of time before healthcare embraced the same.
Healthcare faces a myriad of bottlenecks, from EHR errors to staffing issues, diagnostic delays, and nonspecific care. They’ll need to welcome any evolving technological inflections in their ecosystem — one of them being Conversational AI. These agents can help future-proof their infrastructure, realize intrinsic value, and pass on extrinsic value to improve patient outcomes. So, what are some value-oriented use cases of conversational AI in healthcare? Let’s dive in!
Use Cases of Conversational AI in Healthcare
1. EHR Document Management: Repetitive and error-prone wasteful administrative tasks can be automated with AI. It will transcribe, summarize, and update electronic health records (EHRs), in addition to assisting with indexing, retrieval, and categorization. When needed, you’ll be able to locate it right away. A couple of conversational prompts and the relevant answers appear on the screen — no wasted clicks on drop-down menus, radio buttons, and fields. It’ll recognize records and templates on the files, read the data against it, and accurately auto-populate the same on the screen.
This feature along with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) tech helps office staff digitize paper records. Clinicians can access and review a patient’s medical history from PDFs, Docs, etc., effortlessly in real-time. All they have to do is ask. E.g., “What were the blood test results for Dave?” Natural Language Processing (NLP) and conversational AI with data parsing and semantic abilities can interpret unstructured data in diagnostic reports and convert it into structured formats.
2. Helpdesk Automation: 24/4 staff-centric customer support is inconvenient and costly. Healthcare providers want to shrink this legacy system and embrace an automated natural language framework for handling patient queries. Conversational AI in healthcare can do just this. It’ll act as an extra lever for the content repository on the website. Instead of paying for resources, healthcare providers can save overhead costs with these multi-lingual, intuitive, and user-friendly interactive tools.
These AI-driven virtual assistants are equipped with NLP and sentiment analysis to automate and handle high-volume inquiries, provide immediate and accurate responses, and only escalate matters after a series of questions. From appointment scheduling to available hours, AI and ML chatbots learn on the go — acting as customer reps to automate workloads, reduce latency, and improve patient outcomes.
3. Clinical Decision Support (CDS): Doctors and physicians interact with a conversational AI tool to diagnose personalized treatment plans. It helps them determine the best course of action, from first-stage medicines to alternative solutions. The AI meanwhile is trained on vast and verified medical library data. These systems using ML algorithms aggregate patient data from electronic health records (EHRs), lab reports, and other unstructured documents to diagnose conditions in real-time.
The AI agent provides actionable insights at the point of decision-making, providing data-driven efficiency and accuracy even in complex medical diseases and pre-existing morbidities. The AI agent is tailored to such an extent that it could even flag potential drug interactions and identify emerging clinical patterns based on the patient’s current and historical medical KPIs. In essence, conversational AI helps augment the consultation and analysis phase.
4. Online Therapists: Mental health and emotional support through NLP, assists patients and therapists. The empathetic analysis of tone, content, and context helps to provide meaningful real-time assistance to distressed and psychologically traumatized individuals. The HIPAA-compliant, automated, affordable, and generative AI tool is a boon for patients who can’t find a therapist in far-off areas and for therapists who can attend to critical patients.
The situation can be escalated to a therapist if the patients seek next-level human support. Else, the AI agent’s data processing abilities are more than capable of adapting to the user’s mental state and conducting a holistic analysis to offer tailored interventions rooted in evidence-based clinical psychology. The cognitive behavioral analysis in interactive AI tools enables accessibility, guides users, and helps them cope better while freeing therapists/counselors from the preliminary workload.
5. Appointment Scheduling: Leveraging conversational AI, healthcare workers can be freed from the mundane and tedious activities of booking, rescheduling, and confirming appointments. No more manual reminder emails and phone calls, instead automate and leave the same to a conversational AI tool. It’ll sync with the patients, accept convenient dates & times, match with the right specialist, check availability, and send bi-directional alerts close to the date on SMS, email, and other platforms.
AI bots with conversational abilities eliminate scheduling conflicts, manual inefficiencies, and long hold times. These automated workers, powered by ML, can also proactively suggest ideal appointment times based on historical appointment and location data. So much so, that these agents can request confirmation close to the time slot and predict potential no-shows accordingly. In essence, hospitals, clinics, etc., automate the entire scheduling workflow to deliver quality patient-centric experiences.
6. Post-discharge assistance: No need to have resources follow up, track, and remind discharged patients. No need to have them check by phone, email, messages, or in person to ensure compliance with prescribed recovery plans. Instead leverage conversational AI, IoT, 5G, ML, etc., to empower staff and make it easier for patients to auto-report their health markers. Staff can log in and check vitals or be alerted in real-time to an emergency. If needed patients can chat with a staff member remotely without leaving the interface/terminal.
Patients can check symptoms, receive simplified empathetic guidance, schedule medication, and fill in daily readings of vitals — all in their native language — simply by keying in prompts. The data goes into an EHR system embedded with predictive analytics that raises red flags based on pre-set thresholds and informs authorities, ensuring adequate and timely intervention. What does this mean? Caregivers can now prioritize critical patients and take a passive approach to those less serious.
7. Clinical Training & Knowledge: Conversational AI agents can act as medical knowledge hubs and virtual tutors, empowering healthcare personnel on guidelines, research, breakthroughs, and best practices 24/7. In the backend, these interactive tools are trained on verified research papers, case reviews, biomedical literature, whitepapers, etc., and can access info in near-real time for procedures, therapies, and treatment protocols, helping doctors stay abreast with the latest concepts. Further, take pop quizzes and timed exams to test your acumen.
The Generative AI capability means, doctors at all levels, can ask colloquial questions and get immediate context-specific and evidence-based updates. The AI agent removes the friction and delays in accessing high-level diagnostic nomenclature and procedural methodologies. It can summarize, highlight, quote, and reformat any lengthy peer-reviewed write-up to save healthcare professionals time and effort in having to read through the whole piece. They get succinct and structured answers tailored to their proficiency level to facilitate lifelong learning.
Wrapping Up: Conversational AI in Healthcare
Conversational AI in healthcare is slowly emerging as a mission-critical asset. It is freeing healthcare centers from their dependency on monolithic workflows. AI-powered virtual assistants, embedded in EHR systems and CRMs, streamline administrative workloads and optimize resource allocation to help healthcare providers focus on patient needs, mitigate risks, and save more. And with every update, they evolve to interpret complex terminologies, intent, and contextual nuances even better.

How GenAI is Revolutionizing ERP: Smarter Insights, Predictive Analytics, and More
First off, before we dive into what AI systems could do in ERP, you should know that Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is a powerful tool, which has always been the right hand of business, equipped with both intelligence and automation, within departments such as Finance, Supply Chain, and HR. That being said, the conventional ERPs are often characterized by clumsiness, complexity, and, obviously, being a little behind the times.
Tumblr media
The GenAI Glow-Up: How It’s Changing ERP for the Better
1. Smarter Insights with AI-Powered Reporting
Old-school ERP systems provide data, but they don’t always explain it. GenAI changes the game by making reporting more intuitive and insightful. Instead of drowning in spreadsheets, businesses can now ask AI-driven ERP systems questions like, “Why did sales drop last quarter?” or “What’s the best strategy to improve cash flow?” and get clear, actionable insights in real time.
2. Predictive Analytics: Seeing the Future, Today
Imagine if you could forecast supply chain issues or predict customer demand precisely? GenAI operationalizes ERP analytics with historical data and trend analysis to enable highly accurate predictions. Gone are the days of trial and error — solid numbers rather than gut feelings are what drive businesses.
3. Automation on Autopilot
ERP automation isn’t new, but with GenAI, it gets smarter. Instead of just following rigid workflows, AI can learn and adapt. Think of it as an assistant that not only processes invoices but also flags anomalies, suggests optimizations, and even handles repetitive tasks like purchase orders and HR requests with zero manual intervention.
4. Conversational ERP: No More Clicking Through Menus
Let’s be honest — traditional ERP interfaces can be intimidating. But what if you could talk to your ERP like you do with Siri or ChatGPT? GenAI brings conversational interfaces that allow users to interact using natural language. Need last quarter’s revenue report? Just ask! Want to reorder inventory? A simple command does the trick. No need for endless menu navigation.
5. Personalized Dashboards & AI Recommendations
ERP dashboards often overwhelm users with too much data. With GenAI, dashboards become smart. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, AI customizes dashboards based on user roles and past interactions, serving up only the most relevant information. Plus, it suggests actions like cost-saving measures, ideal inventory levels, or workforce optimizations.
6. Enhanced Security & Compliance
With cyber threats on the rise, security is non-negotiable. GenAI strengthens ERP security by detecting anomalies, predicting potential breaches, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. AI-driven monitoring keeps businesses a step ahead of fraud and data leaks.
The Future is AI-Powered ERP
Blending GenAI and ERP is no mere fashion statement — it is the future. The companies that adopt AI-induced ERP solutions are way ahead of others, as a result of their higher level of efficiency, accuracy, and agility. The high-speed rise of artificial intelligence and machine learning is leading to the creation of a new era of intelligent enterprise management, the time of solid and clunky ERPs is behind us, which will be replaced by it.
Are You Ready for the AI-Powered ERP Revolution?
Whether you’re a business leader, an IT professional, or just someone who loves a good tech upgrade, GenAI is reshaping how ERP systems work. The question isn’t if your business should adopt AI-powered ERP — it’s when. And if you want to stay ahead, the time to start is now.
So, are you ready to let AI do the heavy lifting and make your ERP system actually work for you?

We often take the internet for granted. It’s an ocean of information at our fingertips—and it simply works. But this system relies on swarms of “crawlers”—bots that roam the web, visit millions of websites every day, and report what they see. This is how Google powers its search engines, how Amazon sets competitive prices, and how Kayak aggregates travel listings. Beyond the world of commerce, crawlers are essential for monitoring web security, enabling accessibility tools, and preserving historical archives. Academics, journalists, and civil societies also rely on them to conduct crucial investigative research.
Crawlers are endemic. Now representing half of all internet traffic, they will soon outpace human traffic. This unseen subway of the web ferries information from site to site, day and night. And as of late, they serve one more purpose: Companies such as OpenAI use web-crawled data to train their artificial intelligence systems, like ChatGPT.
Understandably, websites are now fighting back for fear that this invasive species—AI crawlers—will help displace them. But there’s a problem: This pushback is also threatening the transparency and open borders of the web, that allow non-AI applications to flourish. Unless we are thoughtful about how we fix this, the web will increasingly be fortified with logins, paywalls, and access tolls that inhibit not just AI but the biodiversity of real users and useful crawlers.
(MIT Tech Review gives you a free read - I think every month - so click through if you haven't read from them recently, but if you've already hit your limit, the rest of the article is below.)
A system in turmoil
To grasp the problem, it’s important to understand how the web worked until recently, when crawlers and websites operated together in relative symbiosis. Crawlers were largely undisruptive and could even be beneficial, bringing people to websites from search engines like Google or Bing in exchange for their data. In turn, websites imposed few restrictions on crawlers, even helping them navigate their sites. Websites then and now use machine-readable files, called robots.txt files, to specify what content they wanted crawlers to leave alone. But there were few efforts to enforce these rules or identify crawlers that ignored them. The stakes seemed low, so sites didn’t invest in obstructing those crawlers. But now the popularity of AI has thrown the crawler ecosystem into disarray.
As with an invasive species, crawlers for AI have an insatiable and undiscerning appetite for data, hoovering up Wikipedia articles, academic papers, and posts on Reddit, review websites, and blogs. All forms of data are on the menu—text, tables, images, audio, and video. And the AI systems that result can (but not always will) be used in ways that compete directly with their sources of data. News sites fear AI chatbots will lure away their readers; artists and designers fear that AI image generators will seduce their clients; and coding forums fear that AI code generators will supplant their contributors.
In response, websites are starting to turn crawlers away at the door. The motivator is largely the same: AI systems, and the crawlers that power them, may undercut the economic interests of anyone who publishes content to the web—by using the websites’ own data. This realization has ignited a series of crawler wars rippling beneath the surface.
The fightback
Web publishers have responded to AI with a trifecta of lawsuits, legislation, and computer science. What began with a litany of copyright infringement suits, including one from the New York Times, has turned into a wave of restrictions on use of websites’ data, as well as legislation such as the EU AI Act to protect copyright holders’ ability to opt out of AI training.
However, legal and legislative verdicts could take years, while the consequences of AI adoption are immediate. So in the meantime, data creators have focused on tightening the data faucet at the source: web crawlers. Since mid-2023, websites have erected crawler restrictions to over 25% of the highest-quality data. Yet many of these restrictions can be simply ignored, and while major AI developers like OpenAI and Anthropic do claim to respect websites’ restrictions, they’ve been accused of ignoring them or aggressively overwhelming websites (the major technical support forum iFixit is among those making such allegations).
Now websites are turning to their last alternative: anti-crawling technologies. A plethora of new startups (TollBit, ScalePost, etc), and web infrastructure companies like Cloudflare (estimated to support 20% of global web traffic), have begun to offer tools to detect, block, and charge nonhuman traffic. These tools erect obstacles that make sites harder to navigate or require crawlers to register.
These measures still offer immediate protection. After all, AI companies can’t use what they can’t obtain, regardless of how courts rule on copyright and fair use. But the effect is that large web publishers, forums, and sites are often raising the drawbridge to all crawlers—even those that pose no threat. This is even the case once they ink lucrative deals with AI companies that want to preserve exclusivity over that data. Ultimately, the web is being subdivided into territories where fewer crawlers are welcome.
How we stand to lose out
As this cat-and-mouse game accelerates, big players tend to outlast little ones.  Large websites and publishers will defend their content in court or negotiate contracts. And massive tech companies can afford to license large data sets or create powerful crawlers to circumvent restrictions. But small creators, such as visual artists, YouTube educators, or bloggers, may feel they have only two options: hide their content behind logins and paywalls, or take it offline entirely. For real users, this is making it harder to access news articles, see content from their favorite creators, and navigate the web without hitting logins, subscription demands, and captchas each step of the way.
Perhaps more concerning is the way large, exclusive contracts with AI companies are subdividing the web. Each deal raises the website’s incentive to remain exclusive and block anyone else from accessing the data—competitor or not. This will likely lead to further concentration of power in the hands of fewer AI developers and data publishers. A future where only large companies can license or crawl critical web data would suppress competition and fail to serve real users or many of the copyright holders.
Put simply, following this path will shrink the biodiversity of the web. Crawlers from academic researchers, journalists, and non-AI applications may increasingly be denied open access. Unless we can nurture an ecosystem with different rules for different data uses, we may end up with strict borders across the web, exacting a price on openness and transparency.
While this path is not easily avoided, defenders of the open internet can insist on laws, policies, and technical infrastructure that explicitly protect noncompeting uses of web data from exclusive contracts while still protecting data creators and publishers. These rights are not at odds. We have so much to lose or gain from the fight to get data access right across the internet. As websites look for ways to adapt, we mustn’t sacrifice the open web on the altar of commercial AI.

How Generative AI & ChatGPT will change business
Tumblr media
The way we use software is about to change due to generative AI, and this is significant for organizations that rely on software to interact with their clients. It's about ushering in a new era of personalization, when digital interactions are customized to meet every client's unique preferences and needs, possibly revolutionizing how businesses compete.
Thanks to generative AI, customers will interact with software in a more fluid and user-centric manner. This means bidding farewell to intricate menus and features that are frequently overpowering. Instead, clients will be presented with a straightforward query:
For today, what are your plans?
After that, the software will make recommendations based on previous exchanges, the present situation, and the client's primary objectives.
This change in engagement has an effect that extends beyond certain brands. Software must now provide all-inclusive solutions covering any task a client desires. This could entail working with outside partners, reconsidering the conventional definition of what a brand offers, and building the data and technological infrastructure required to integrate each solution component seamlessly.
Not only can generative AI produce text, but it can also produce speech, images, music, videos, and even code. When paired with an individual's personal information, it expedites the completion of tasks. No more figuring out convoluted menus. Alternatively, users can ask, and in milliseconds, the software will develop code to carry out the specified activities.
This streamlined method of interacting with software would democratize access to apps, freeing users to concentrate on accomplishing their goals rather than being constrained by the software limitations of a brand. There will likely be a significant shift in user expectations and interactions.
Although generative AI has drawn much attention for its capacity to produce sounds, images, and text, it is also quite good at writing code. It provides a shortcut from a command to an action by creating code responding to user commands, eliminating the need to go through menus. Furthermore, a straightforward query can now be used for complicated data analytics that formerly required manually gathering data from multiple sources. For example, queries such as "When is my next trip to NYC with an available dinner slot?" or "Who are the contacts I haven't called in the last 90 days?" can be quickly and swiftly answered.
Thanks to this change, more brands can develop applications as a component of their value proposition, streamlining current applications' user experience. The capabilities and economic models required for this new era are already emerging, even though the game is just getting started.
Businesses looking to develop their offers in a world where generative AI and other advanced AI systems are becoming more and more commonplace need to concentrate on four essential areas:
Bring Data Together: Integrating data from several sources inside and outside the business is necessary to offer clients a comprehensive solution. Although it has historically been challenging, AI systems can now assist in lining up the schemas of various databases, improving the efficiency of data integration. While AI capabilities make data integration more accessible, data governance and purification are still essential.
The Rules Layer: Establishing precise guidelines for AI replies becomes progressively more important as traditional software interfaces are eliminated. Companies need to establish guidelines so that the AI reacts correctly and doesn't react to its capabilities or improper ones.
End-to-End Journeys: The primary goal should be providing clients with comprehensive solutions. Through seamless information sharing, companies can develop alliances to expedite a customer's journey. This network of business partnerships will make brands stand out.
Differentiation Through Ecosystems: As companies expand their end-to-end journey capabilities, they should consider new types of partner partnerships. The partners' data's nature, reliability, and application will define these partnerships.
Setting Safety, Fairness, Privacy, Security, and Transparency as Top Priorities: A brand's identity is partly shaped by managing its data. Reducing the dangers associated with prejudice, accuracy, copyright, privacy, and manipulated rankings is essential. Businesses must examine data for bias, proactively handle possible hazards, and guarantee data privacy and integrity.
The potential of generative AI is expanding at a never-before-seen rate despite the significant hazards involved. As additional data sources are accessed and efforts are made to address and remedy errors, AI systems' accuracy will increase. Startups and well-established brands seeking to develop AI-driven products will be drawn to the software's potential for ease of use, customization, and democratization of access.
Encouraging Organizational Change: The Importance of Chatbot Education and Certification
Chatbot training has enabled organizations to utilize ChatGPT and adjust to these revolutionary shifts entirely. Professionals and companies should use chatbot certification programs to become certified chatbot experts.
In addition to providing people with the skills needed to create, improve, and manage chatbots, chatbot training ensures that these machines follow security and ethical guidelines. A ChatGPT certification denotes proficiency in using state-of-the-art AI technologies to enhance user experiences and streamline corporate processes. A certified chatbot can quickly negotiate the complex world of generative AI, guaranteeing that its chatbots are efficient, secure, dependable, and in line with user expectations.
Investing in chatbot certification is crucial if companies want to stay on the cutting edge of innovation, increase customer satisfaction, and set their brands apart in the rapidly changing digital landscape as they use generative AI in customer interactions.
Conclusion
As generative AI becomes more deeply ingrained in businesses' operations, businesses' interactions with customers will revolutionize. By concentrating on data integration, well-defined regulations, comprehensive journeys, ecosystem development, and preventive measures, enterprises may effectively leverage the potential of generative AI to provide inventive solutions and improve consumer experiences. Generative AI can revolutionize the business sector by enabling companies to create new revenue streams and differentiate themselves from competitors.

Topic: AI
In a reading for my science fiction class I found an interesting excerpt that details how emotion informs the technology that humans create. I found it relevant to my own considerations of how AI art is missing something.
“An educational system that teaches us only about our tools—the how-to of them, their creation, their maintenance—and not about their function as facilitators of our desires, is, in essence, no more than a school of toaster repair. You can be the best toaster-repair person in the world, but you will cease to have a job if toast is no longer a desirable food item on the human breakfast menu. “The arts”—as we’ve come to term them—are not a frill. They are the heart of the matter, because they are about our hearts, and our technological inventiveness is generated by our emotions, not just by our minds. A society without the arts would have broken its mirror and cut out its heart. It would no longer be what we now recognize as human.” (Atwood - Scientific Romancing)
I looked an an article about AI art and the issues of copyright, but I got a bit bogged down in the details since it got complex. I thought this line was interesting though. “Under traditional copyright law, creative works are granted protection based on the principle of originality, which requires human authorship and a modicum of creativity” (link to full article)
That article also had a list of AI artists who were using AI in ways that I found to be more intentional / creative and less the blatant theft type of digital art.
I also found a wonderful forbes article that pointed out a lot of issues with AI art which was a good find. (link to article). It brought up an interesting point of how Google searches are getting bogged down with fake AI images (misinformation and general internet ruining vibes). Another good point was how water wasteful ChatGPT is. This was one of my favorite lines from the article, “The technology is a solution to a problem that never existed. Artists, as much as they like to complain about the struggle of the creative process, enjoy making things. The creative process is incredibly rewarding, even if the final piece doesn’t match up to the original vision." This was another great line, “When we immerse ourselves in art, we experience a touch of the unique perspective that an artist brings to their work, the smeared fingerprints that makes art worth talking about.” And there was mention of an event that I saw another article talking about, which was when the renouned Studio Ghibli guy, Miyazaki was shown AI art and in response said, "I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself."
I tried to find some info on AI misinformation / how it's changing memes but didn't have a lot of luck. But those are topics that I would want to look into more later.
I looked into AI art and issues with theft and found some interesting things. My favorite lines from this article were “There is no transcending of the source material, just a mechanized “blending together,” and “It kind of boils down to: what is art? Is art the process, is art the human component, is art the conversation? All of that is out of the picture once you’re just generating it.” I also saw a blog post that had found a website where you could tediously opt out each image of your art that had previously been used in something, but only for future use. So anything it was in already, was too late. And they also mentioned the big idea that if artists aren't getting rights for their work, they won't get paid for their work either. It makes me think that in the future if AI art is stealing too much maybe people will be less inspired to bother making new art. So a stalling out in creativity may happen. Or not. Maybe people will use AI in a good way to supplement their ideas instead of just stealing.
My favorite thing that I found in researching was that a random subreddit had voted 2 years ago to totally ban AI art from it and when I checked the current rules, it was still banned. So there is hope somewhere at least.
Tumblr media
My mind map from class
Overall there are some interesting avenues for this topic, but I found research a bit tedious due to how many clickbait type articles that come up whenever I try to Google anything about it. Also it was hard to wade through the rhetoric since everyone has such an opinion with what they're saying about AI art. And even though I had a lot of ideas on my map thing, I had a hard time approaching how to research them and find relevant information that was related to them.
