How did you discover the show? I discovered it through my dad. He was a fan of the 80s series when he was a child. He even has an old toy yellow lion and Hunk out on display. Around when season 2 was still new, he was basically like “Hey, you should check this series out! I think you’d like it. There’s also a character voiced by the same guy as Finn.” so we watched it together and bonded over it.

Was it love at first sight or did it take you a while to get into the show? I fell in love immediately and I hyperfixated on it for at least a year. It's still special to me despite all of its issues, and that hyperfixation still comes and goes.

Do you have a favorite episode(s)? There were so many good ones. I honestly don’t know what my favourite is, but to name a few:

The whole Balmera arc, because Hunk is my son, my star, and I love to see him shine

Do you have a favorite Paladin? Lance was always my favourite, and Hunk is a very close second. I think I relate to them the most.

Do you have a favorite Lion? Blue. I always wanted to pilot Blue. Maybe because it’s one of my favourite colours, and I’ve also got a connection to water - being a Scorpio, living on the coastline, being interested in marine biology, and being a swimmer? Idk  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Do you have a favorite Alien Race? Whatever Plaxum, Blaytz and Gyrgan are. I wish we got to know more about the last two, especially.

Favorite side/other character(s)? I absolutely adore Coran. Outside of Team Voltron - Matt, Kolivan, Acxa, Rizavi and Veronica, and I was also really intrigued by Lotor before they messed him up and turned him into sOUP???

How/Why did you join the fandom? I got really involved in the fandom because I just loved the show, but the only people I could talk about it with irl was my dad and kind of my sister. My old main tumblr was just all VLD for that period of time, and I mostly posted fanart and some memes, gushed about Klance, and convinced thousands of people that Mothman-fan!Keith was 100% canon. It was great.

What are some of your headcanons?

Shiro has a younger brother that Keith reminds him of

And before their history was revealed, I thought Shiro was like Keith’s adoptive father, or at least a supportive family friend who took him in after his dad passed

Pidge is autistic and non-binary, because me too

Lance has ADHD, because me too

Lance and Hunk were childhood friends

Autistic, lactose intolerant, hippo-loving, Mothman-simping, gay, half-Galra, Korean-Texan cowboy Keith was wild and pretty funny to me, and I still subscribe to most of that lmao

What do you think is the best part of the show? The characters and their potential was always the main draw for me. They’re still so important to me. I also loved the art style, the alien designs, and big robot vs. monster fights are always fun to me.

What were your hopes and wishes for future episodes/seasons?

I knew Keith was gonna inherit the black lion but I choose not to shut up about black paladin Allura

More fleshed out backstories (which I’m working hard on for my rewrite rn)

Getting to know everyone’s families better

Shiro speaking some Japanese, Lance speaking some Spanish, or just the Paladins sharing more human culture with the Alteans rather than just the other way around.

*cough* Canon Klance, although I also like the idea of Allurance. I just didn’t like the way they ended up portraying it. They also didn’t do a very good job of shutting down Klance and convincing they weren’t also in love lmao

Just Lance being happy again tbh like wtf?

Did you stick it out until the end of the show? I ended up dropping the series around season 4. I don’t remember if it was because I was already bored or too disappointed to go on, or that part of the fandom got too much, or just because I changed hyperfixations and didn’t get around to finishing it. I learned what happened next through other people’s reactions and it was so disheartening, but I finally rewatched and finished it myself recently. It was a rushed blur, but it was nice to relive the good moments.

Do you have any theories/headcanons behind why Keith is so oblivious? Like, is it because he's hard-wired for Galra communication but spent all his formative years with Humans, so they kinda cancelled each other out and now he's just clueless? Or because through so much of his childhood he was made to believe that he wasn't worth the effort, and he's internalized that to the point where the idea of someone liking him is hard for him to get his head around? Or is he just ... like that?

I feel like I’ve spoken about this before but it might’ve just been in bits and pieces, here and there, so ... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’s pretty much exactly as you said: Keith is instinctively very Galra and both demonstrates / responds to a lot of Galra social cues on a subconscious level (which is why he’s able to read Lotor’s intentions with far greater ease than the rest of team Voltron), but this means that when it comes to human social cues, he just doesn’t pick up on them. I’ve previously spoken about some of the discrepancies between Galra vs Human body language - specifically the fact that to a human eye crossing one’s arms and turning your head when in an argument would read as rude and dismissive, whereas for the Galra this is a submissive gesture intended to de-escalate conflict by making oneself smaller and less threatening - so for Keith it’s little mannerisms like this that have caused him interpersonal problems in the past; then there’s the fact that Galra kits bond by playfighting, but the kind of rough and tumble they can endure is like nothing a human child would ever be exposed to, so Keith used to be punished for even attempting to bond with his peers when he was younger, because he’d always get it wrong somehow.

All of this lead to him spending a great deal of time alone even before his dad died (and impossibly more so afterwards), and if you’ve seen my post on Galra attitudes towards their young then you’ll know that the Galra do astoundingly poorly in social isolation due to being an aggressively social species (even more so than humans). So poor Keith really has had a rough time of it.

I wouldn’t say he’s “completely clueless” though? Keith’s smart: he understands Galra body language well enough (as seen in his interactions with both Lotor & Kolivan) but his failing there comes from the fact that he may not understand the subtext due to having been raised so entirely separate from the Empire. With humans, it’s the opposite problem: he learnt what was/wasn’t acceptable behaviour over an extensive period of trial and error throughout his childhood, but struggles to read unspoken social cues. There’s also that element of having been conditioned into believing himself to be a “problem child” who is inherently bad or flawed or wrong somehow, in a way he’s never known how to fix, which is why Shiro so quickly became such an important figure in his life as the first person since his dad to even try to understand him.

With regard to Lotor’s flirtations specifically, Keith isn’t quite so ignorant as you might believe, and when fixing up Kra he even flirts back a little.

To Lotor’s absolute horror, the green Paladin’s army of vermin seem to have taken a liking to him, the blue one going so far as to nuzzle against his palm when, during dinner, he tries to keep it at a distance; it forces him to instantly recoil with a whine that, in Imperial company, would have seen him ostracised for cowardice. Here, miraculously, it earns him reward rather than punishment, because the red Paladin is laughing without spite, plucking the fygllari from the air and tossing it towards Hunk. When he looks back to Lotor, there’s no trace of displeasure, only a soft darkness beneath his lashes and a purr in his throat as his leans towards the Prince and asks: “better, your Majesty?” Oh. The ways he would wreck this boy. “Careful Rhyahl,” he murmurs instead, because Kra has perked up at the familiarity of that possessive want as an emotion she can comprehend, “I may be fond of you, but even that has its limitations.”

He knows Lotor is fond of him, in some capacity, but to what extent and why is something he’s not even close to puzzling out. When I say that Keith is an oblivious little bean, what I mean is that he’s so used to rejection that the concept of someone like Lotor (intelligent, handsome, powerful) wanting someone like him is.... at best, unfathomable, and at worst, laughable. No, far more likely is that Lotor is just a flirtatious bastard that enjoys teasing Keith as a way to aggravate the rest of the team (which, in fairness, is not not true).

the sorting hats dilemma is that he’s smart and has the means to excel in Ravenclaw, but at the same time he’s outrageously brave like a Gryffindor

Sooooo-- Pidge is like a year or two behind Hunk, Lance, and Keith because y’know, shes younger and stuff and she kinda gets into the group because of her older brother

Shiro is also Keith’s older brother, they’re not biological siblings, its just Keefs dad was friends with shiros parents and when he passed away the Shiroganes adopted him 

Shiro is ANNOYED because Keith and Lance are always fighting with each other in the commons and he just wants to read his book in peace

Let’s get to Quidditch because that’s part of the Adashi part of this AU

Keef is a Gryffindor Seeker because like-- he go vroom

I lowkey am making Lance a Keeper not only cuz he would be good at it but also cuz of those cheesy shirts that say things like “He’s a Keeper” and “She’s a Catch” 

Shiro is a Chaser

Pidge and Hunk I think would be Beaters???? Idk

Adam is the Ravenclaw Keeper

Headcanon is if theres one thing Lance and Adam have in common, its that they can make people flustered very easily 

So ya know what Adam does, much to Shiro’s annoyance???

He flirts with him

Whenever they have games that are Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor Adam will flirt with Shiro, winking at him, yelling stuff across the field, making Shiro so flustered he can’t throw straight (pun intended)

One time Adam gets Shiro so flustered he drops the ball

Matt, a Beater, high fives him

OH! Also Allura is a Chaser and she’s like the best Chaser in the school FITE ME

Okay thats enough of quidditch 

Okay so as for family lineage and stuff

Shiro, Lance, and Hunk are muggleborns

They just are

Shiro’s parents knew about Magic because of keef and were surprised when they found out Shiro was a wizard

Lance is the only wizard in his family and he gets homesick a lot because he’s the only one who goes to Hogwarts and he misses his siblings and stuff

But he always brings niece and nephew home stuff from Hogsmade that he thinks they’ll like 

Hunk, Lance, and Shiro meet because Hogwarts started a club during the summer for Muggleborns where they can meet and talk about concerns with Hogwarts and magic and stuff with other muggleborns that are older

So Lance and Hunk soon become really close friends and Shiro is kinda their advisor and stuff

Anyways

Keith is a Halfblood, which makes sense because i mean he’s half galra on the show so

His mom was a witch, and idk if im going to have her run away for something or die?? I mean I kinda want her to run away cuz of something so they can be reunited but i have no idea what it would be unless this was during the time of harry potter and it had something to do with Voldemort but i kinda want to stay away from all that so ye

Pidge and Matt are purebloods

But they’re not the stuck up purebloods

They’re literally the Weasleys 

Sam has a fascination with muggle technology that Pidge and Matt share

So like, they have a lot of fancy tech

Pidge and Matt snuck a DS on campus and play Zelda at meals

Allura is probably a Pureblood but shes way less snooty, maybe even compared to her parents

As for teachers

Coran is Herbology teacher or something???

Alfor is Defense against the Dark Arts maybe??? I don’t know either him or Zarkon 

Haggar is obviously the potions teacher

Everyone hates Lotor cuz his parents are teachers and he’s a teachers pet

So she’s like the slytherin head thing or whatever they were

and it doesnt help that her son is also slytherin

because it makes it easier for them to get in trouble because they keep fighting and then she can take points from gryffindor

So Keef and Lonce are there, both tired from studying or something so already they’re cranky and half asleep

So they’re making the potion right?

And lance just coughs, a look of disgust on his face

“What?” Keef says. Lance plugs his nose.

“U stink, Keith.” And throughout potions class Lance keeps complaining that Keith smells really bad or something or he used too much cologne idk

Ofc like Pidge is in that class and shes snickering

Lance turns to her like “WHAT IS IT PIDGE” 

She asks him if he knows what the potion is supposed to do

He’s just like “It makes people fall in love with u.”

“Yes but what else?” Both keith and Lance stare at her blankly. She explains that when u smell it you smell what u love most

Both keef and lances eyes widen

For the first time in forever they’re quite the entire period

Keith has a gay panic

Lance has a bi panic

they are disasters

Shiro confronts pidge after that day

“Pidge what did u do to keef and lonce they’re broken”

Pidge is all like, “Excuse me????”

“They’re being nice to each other.” 

Hunk, who is also there, just snorts

“Pls explain this to me,” Shiro says, exasperated

Pidge explains the Amortentia scene

Shiro just laughs because of course they were in love with each other

(it lowkey reminds him of him and Adam)

(okay now i have theories that the reason why they made Adam shiro’s boyfriend is because its meant to mirror OTHER ships in voltron *cough* KLANCE and its foreshadowing or something i mean adam does look like lance and shiro and keith are sorta similar)

Hunk admits that Lance has had a crush on keeth for like ever but he keeps saying its just a rivalry thing

Actual conversation between the two:

“And what’s up with his hair?? It’s like straight out of the 80′s and he has all the bangs over his eyes like an EMO like why is he trying to hide his eyes?” Lance blushes because he’s thinking about how beautiful Keefs eyes are. “Like why? Why is his hair like that i dont understand?? And what does he do to it why is it so soft???”

“You’ve touched his hair?”

“Yeah I was trying to see if I’m taller than him yet” Hunk was just confused but then Lance kept talking about keiths hair and he let it slip when it was like, almost 3am that keiths hair made him look pretty and lance would never be able to make that look good on himself, then immediately said something about the one time keef blew something up in first year because hes an idiot as a coverup

So hunk has known for some time

Even when lance didn’t know

So for the next couple weeks keith and lance act kinda weird around each other

because they don’t know how to handle feelings

they mostly avoid each other, standing on opposite ends of the room and glaring at each other

but of course that doesnt help them at all because for some reason they share a room

(oh my god they were roommates)

The rest of the boys in the room are angry because of all the sexual tension its giving them anxiety and they started sleeping in the commons

I actually have no idea who the other three boys would be because one of them couldnt be shiro because hes older and everyone else is in different houses so

At one point keith just blurts “Whats wrong with you?”

Lance gets all defensive because he takes it in a different way than Keith meant and thought Keith was saying he was flawed or something and he was broken and...

heres the langst

Lance just starts to get upset and is yelling saying nothing is wrong with him and he almost starts to cry because he’s just so confused and doesn’t know whats going on and he feels like hes not good enough for Gryffindor and

He has a lot of emotions

And he says all this, starting to ramble through tears, pouring all of his emotions out

Keef is shook

he doesn’t know what to do Lance never acted like this in front of him before and he’s never seen lance like this, so self conscious and doubting himself 

Keith doesn’t know how lance could even think these things because in his eyes-- lance is perfect

Lance has always been so much better at magic than he was

and He’s so confident and such a good Keeper 

He gingerly touches Lance’s shoulder. 

“Lance I--” Keith doesn’t know what words to say, but apparently he doesn’t need to say any

Lance wraps his arms around him, burying his face in his shoulder, sniffling

Keith is surprised at first because u know keef

He doesn’t know how to react when someone hugs him

He gently hugs lance back, resting his head on Lances and running his fingers through his hair

Lance calms down, his breathing slowing and seeming more relaxed

when he does, keith tries his best to tell him how great he thinks lance is and how hes jealous and all that

Lance pulls away, rubbing his eyes. 

“You mean it?” Keith nods solemnly, not looking at Lance. Lance touches his cheek, causing him to look back up, his brows knit together in confusion

Lance doesn’t know why, but he kisses him

and just??? the moment feels perfect to both of them? This was someone they always thought of as a rival, were always jealous of, and were always thinking about. They never truely understood their feelings for each other, until now

Shiro doesn’t comment when they walk into the dinning hall the next morning holding hands

But Pidge sure does 

Okay im trying to think of more headcanons involving people other than Shiro, Keith, and Lance because i love all the characters and they deserve attention

Hunk makes friends with two other Hufflepuff girls

SHAY AND ROMELLE

MY GURLS

Shay and Romelle have been friends since they were first years and Shay yelled at Lotor for making fun of Romelle

they’ve been besties ever since

Hunk meets Shay and Romelle in Herbology because in like maybe 5th year or something Hufflepuff house was taught Herbology with the Slytherins. Every year before that it was either with Ravenclaw or Gryffindor so he would pair with Lance, Keith, Allura, or Shiro

Pidge was a year or two bellow him so they didn’t have classes together in case u were wondering

For the specific thing they needed a group of three and even though Hunk is a pretty nice guy and can make friends with everyone, everyone sorta had their trio

Because ofc he can find a PARTNER that was left out of their group of three, but suddenly they’re paired off in threes and there’s no sad loner who has no friends. 

Shay and Romelle have an opening in their group

Hunk goes to work with them

They’re honestly the cinnamon roll squad and when Hunk introduces them to his friends Lance and Pidge immediately nickname them that 

Hunk quickly falls in love with Shay

Like deeply in love

He’s always complimenting her and laughing at what she says

Romelle keeps trying to tell Shay that he likes her but Shay just goes “he’s just a nice person, Elle”

The Yule ball comes around ofc

and at this point Lance and Keith are dating

This is probably around.... Sixth year I want to say? 

So here’s the line up 

Keith and Lance go to the dance together

Shiro asks Adam in like this grand way and Adam is just like “wait we weren’t going together before??”

Matt doesn’t have a date but he invites Pidge because she threatened him (she wants to take pictures of Klance and Adashi acting cute and coupley to use as blackmail and Matt supports it)

Hunk starts freaking out because he really really really wants to ask Shay but he doesn’t know how

Lance gives him a pep talk, saying that she obviously likes him of course she’ll say yes

Hunk is still nervous

Lance is all like “C’mon asking your crush out isnt that bad if she says no she says no, but if she says yes then you get an awesome date.” 

“Says the one who had a crush on his boyfriend since second year and covered it up as a rivalry.” Lance looks offended.

“You need to stop hanging out with Pidge.” 

Lance decides to be Hunks wingman and starts asking Shay things like “You planning on going to the Yule Ball?” and “What do you think of Hunk?” He sees that she is very much interested and repots this to Hunk

He helps Hunk come up with a way to ask her

And its like the sweetest thing Romelle is in on it and she gives some stupid excuse as to why she cant study for herbology with them 

then her and lance hide behind a bookshelf, giggling

Hunk gets super flustered

But he manages to ask her

Shay also gets really flustered

But says yes

oof okay thats three of my big ships canon now for the fourth. 

When Hunk first introduces Allura to Romelle, her first thought is “Her. I want to date Her.” 

Now Lance and Allura have already come out to each other as bi disasters

It actually happened when Lance got with Keith and they were talking about him, doing facials (they take care of their skin with each other fite me) 

And Lance is just like “Yeah so I guess I like guys and girls” and allura is like “YOU CAN DO THAT” and lance is like “yeah????” and hes not sure if shes being biphobic or what and hes scared for like 0.1 second

and then allura just goes “Oh my god lonce i think i like guys and girls too”

And then they just start laughing

I guess I should also mention that they dated at one point too???

I don’t think it would’ve been super long, but probably around 3rd year they dated and thats actually probably how Allura got introduced to the Squad??

Lance first saw her when he finally joined the Gryffindor Quidditch team 

He got picked to be a Keeper the second year

So their first game is against ravenclaw

And he’s pretty good for the most part

And then all of a sudden he sees allura flying towards him and she looks so beautiful and how can she be so beautiful and--

She just scored a goal

and he was staring dumbly at her

So Lance and Allura’s relationship kind of developed like it did in the show with Lance flirting with her and Allura being annoyed to them becoming friends and eventually mutual crush

Allura’s actually the one to ask Lance out

They date for a while and theyre actually a really cute couple

(I may be a hardcore Klancer but I do find Allurlance cute on the occasion)

But after a bit... it kinda fades away?? I don’t know they just start to feel like when they kiss its not... not how they thought it would be??

They slowly start to realize that they kinda just want to be friends, not boyfriend and girlfriend

It just adds stress that they don’t want and they want to be able to tell each other anything without having to worry about stuff

so they break up soon after they start dating

sadly

but they dont?? feel too broken up about it???

The feeling was mutual

Plus they like each other much more as friends than romantic partners

They’re like the ultumate brotp 

Now they give each other facials every thursday

anyways

so allura finds out that she has a crush on Romelle

and who does she go to?

Ofc its lance hes a successful bi with a boyfriend

So he pretty much teaches her how to flirt

like seriously he teaches her how to flirt

And Allura makes it her duty to flirt with Romelle at every possibly oppertunity

Making Romelle freak out because how is she supposed to read this does she want to date Allura or????

They don’t really go any further for a while, its just allura slipping in little things every now and again or blowing kisses at romelle in the stands as she scores a goal

When the Yule ball rolls around, both Allura and Romelle dont have dates (Lotor asked Allura to the dance because they kissed one time in a game of spin the bottle and she responded with judoflipping him)

But they have fun

Everyone has fun actually

Its amazing and fluffy

(i feel like i should write a snapshot of this so i can finally write a fic that isnt centered around klance)

And a slow song comes on

Hunk and Shay awkwardly dance with each other, blushing brightly

Lance and Keith have their heads pressed together, Lance kissing Keith’s nose as they dance and making keith so flustered he stumbles and they both fall to the floor laughing

Adam and Shiro are that couple everyone is jealous of because theyre so perfect?? Like they have matching outfits and they dance gracefully and they kiss at just the right moments??

Pidge and Matt are god knows where probably videotaping the whole thing

And Allura kinda jokingly goes, “Well I guess then we should dance too.” And Romelle surprises her by taking her hand, pulling her onto the dancefloor

and freaking allura is actually really flustered and she’s blushing, having a hard time looking at Romelle

(romelle is having a hard time looking at her to fsajndvjhaio)

They’re both blushing. 

At the end of the song theyre much closer to each other than they started

They look up at each other

And then Romelle squeezes her eyes tight and kisses allura

It barely lasts for a second

Allura is shook

Romelle is in Lesbian Painc

Allura is in Bi Panic

Nobody seems to have noticed

but both girls are dying

And then allura just timidly asks, “Can you-- can you do that again?”

Pidge walks up to them kissing and just goes, “Oh thank god I thought I was going to have to force you two to kiss”

Because pidge oversees everything and knows everyones crushes that theyre too stupid to see

I feel bad for pidge i don’t really know what big moments she should have???

I feel like shes a trouble maker though

Not like cruel pranks or something 

But she likes to play jokes on people

A lot of the times that person is Lance

A lot of the time Keith is in on it

I also feel like eventually Allura and Romelle start to join her??

She recruits them for some big thing

And they love this way of life

She was almost a Hat Stall

Her two houses were Slytherin and Ravenclaw

But at like 4 min and 43 seconds the hat announced slytherin

bOY DO I HAVE HEADCANONS (though disclaimer: I myself am cis, so if anything I say is wrong please tell me; I really don’t want to offend anyone so don’t be afraid to speak out if I say something wrong okay? okay now let’s go)(also I apologize in advance this is way longer than I thought it would be)

•When Keith was at the Garrison and then living alone in the desert, he would act as masculine as possible because when he was in foster care his families always insisted on him taking part in more “feminine” activities, so you can bet Keith did stuff like work on his bike and get all grimy and let it stain his clothes and later buy ten different colognes and wear all of them at once. Why do you think he loves swords and sword fighting so much? It makes him feel masculine!! Honestly any stereotypical ‘manly’ activities make him feel so much better, he just enjoys them so much

•People ask him sometimes why the long hair but guess what!! He doesn’t need to have short hair to be a man, he’s already a man and he likes his greasy mullet so stay in your own lane dude he’s happy with his long hair and having it doesn’t make him any less manly

•When he started hormones, every day he would practice talking as deeply as he could. Once he found a lizard sitting on a rock and recited the entire Bee Movie script to it in his deepest voice possible

•For most of the time during his time at the Garrison he’d just wear two sports bras instead of a binder because he didn’t really know how to get one and was too scared to ask. Plus he had like four dollars at most on a good day so how could he possibly buy a binder? He started resorting to ace bandages which oh no Keithy boy that’s not how you bind you’re gonna mess up your ribcage sTOP

• But don’t worry, Shiro the Hero™️ is here to help. Back at the Garrison, Shiro was the only person besides the teachers who knew Keith was a trans boy. And lemme just say Shiro is the most supportive human, he did as much research as he could and always stood by Keith whenever people were being jerks (and beat them up when he had to because Keith gets into enough fights as it is, he’s already gotten too many strikes so he’s not allowed to get into more fights or else risk getting expelled and it kills him when he can’t punch someone out for bullying him but guess what Shiro has no problem with that he’s the teacher’s pet anyway he’s not worried about getting in trouble) So when he found out Keith was binding with ace bandages he was like “okay first of all no, I don’t know much but I know for a fact that’s gonna destroy your ribs come on man I’ll go with you we need to buy you some binders”

• When Keith first got to space, one of the things he worried about the most was the fact that he only had the binder he was wearing and that was all, and he was terrified because what if something happened to it and he couldn’t find anything else to bind with oh no

•But never fear, Coran is here!! He asked Coran about it one night because he trusts him and turns out that plenty of Alteans are trans too!! However, they didn’t exactly use binders because they could simply shapeshift to fit their ideal body expectations, but Coran is amazing so he used Keith’s binder as a reference and made a ton of new binders out of this great alien material that stretches in a way that makes them safe to fight in too!! So hooray for Keith not having to worry about breaking a rib during a fight anymore

•And the hormone situation turned out to be easily remedied as well. When Keith realized he couldn’t go much longer without his hormone treatments he worked up the courage to ask Pidge for help, who managed to come up with an alien substitute that worked about the same as his regular hormones from earth so yay!! Now he can get his hormones without any trouble!!

•And at this point Shiro, Coran, and Pidge all know, so Keith figures that he might as well come out to the rest of the team since half of them know already and he may as well get it over with now, since telling them is easier than them all finding out through some accident. And it goes roughly the same way it had when Pidge revealed she was a girl.

•Keith walks into the dining hall one day where everyone is eating breakfast and he kind of just announces “hey by the way I’m trans, guys” and plops down to eat his food goo. (Shiro doesn’t even look up from his book and says “hi Trans, I’m Shiro”) and Hunk is like “oh rad, dude. I mean I kind of suspected but I wasn’t sure and didn’t know how to ask but this is awesome! So what pronouns are you okay with then?” “He/him, thanks” “Okay, cool cool cool” *goes back to eating* And after they explain what the term “transgender” means, Allura says “Oh, we have that on Altea too. For a moment there I thought trans was another alien species and you were admitting you were more than just galra but this is much better” “Thanks..? I guess?”

•And then you have Lance. It takes him a little longer to catch up to speed, but once it sinks in he’s like “but wait what about that time I called you Dolly Parton because of your mullet and when you said y’all oH MY GOD I MISGENDERED YOU IM SO SORRY” “seriously dude it’s fine, chill” “AHHH BUT WHAT IF ITS NOT” It takes him a long time to stop walking on eggshells, and pretty soon Keith being trans is just another fact of life, same as Pidge being a girl and Keith being galra and Shiro being a closeted Taylor Swift fan

•Keith: “I’m trans” Lotor: “I thought you were galra”

•When Keith starts growing facial hair oh my gosh he gets so excited. He starts strutting around so proudly, showing off the hair on his chin and when he walks into a room Hunk is like “heyyy nice beard dude, super manly” *thumbs up* Though the first time Keith tried to shave he cut himself like five times because he did it with his BOM knife, so that didn’t work out too well. Luckily, Lance decided to take pity on him and educate this poor boy on face management and helped him shave properly to avoid future fiascos

•Shiro: “Keith you can’t bind while you’re training, stop ignoring me you’re gonna kill yourself” Keith, firing up his bayard and already turning on the training bot: “What was that I can’t hear you” Shiro: *disapproving Dad Glare™️*

•Keith is an irresponsible boy so he leaves his binder on for like ten hours at a time (which!! please don’t ever do!! this will kill your ribcage please bind safely don’t be like keith!!) After so long of this routine of reminding Keith over and over again to take a break with his binder off and him blatantly ignoring it, Pidge modified the training deck so whenever Keith is in there training for hours at a time he will get alerts to take his binder off which thank god for that because he always either forgets or doesn’t care enough to

•Because he’s not fully transitioned, Keith still gets periods which really sucks. That’s usually when the dysphoria is at its worst so not only does he have to deal with stupid cramps but now he also has dang dysphoria to make him feel even crappier. When that happens, everyone on the ship makes an effort to take every opportunity to use masculine pronouns when talking to him and comfort him when he’s feeling Bad. (It’s a good thing Keith has his awesome boyfriend Lance who is so sweet and always supportive and will cuddle on the couch with him for hours as they eat snacks and watch earth movies for hours on end)

•Once he breaks three ribs during a fight and Allura tells him that he can’t wear his binder for a while otherwise it’ll just make the injury worse but like. Keith is so scared to go around without binding, he doesn’t want anyone to see him so he stays in his room for most of the time but on the occasions in which he does leave his room, he gets so worked up because “shit shit sHIT they’re gonna see me without my binder oh no I can’t do this” but. Nobody really notices? At all? It’s like there’s nothing different. He meets up with everyone for dinner and he’s sweating bullets he’s so nervous but it’s like no one even sees he’s not wearing a binder. So that was quite the experience, and after that Keith gets more comfortable with wearing his binder less often because the reason he always wore it too long was because he didn’t want anyone to see and judge him, but turns out it doesn’t matter in the least to them whether he’s binding or not, so he’s more confident being around them without a binder on days when he’s feeling comfortable enough to go without it.

•Keith has definitely taken an Axe Body Spray shower before this isn’t even a debate

•Shiro takes every opportunity to call Keith his brother not only because wow gotta love that wonderful honorary siblings broganes bond, but also hell yeah calling Keith masculine names.

How did you discover the show?

Way back in summer of 2016, everyone I followed suddenly started posting a bajillion gifsets of this hip new animated netflix show called Voltron. I liked the art style a lot, so I did some research, discovered it was helmed by some of the folks behind Legend of Korra and Avatar, and I was sold, hook, line, and sinker. 

Was it love at first sight or did it take you a while to get into the show?

I binged the first season with my two buddies ASAP and we enjoyed it well enough but we weren’t, like, obsessed or anything. But then we decided to watch it again... liked it a lot, appreciated a lot more about it... watched it again, and again, and again... 13 rewatches later, we could admit we were damn obsessed. We’ve successfully watched each successive season 13 times each.

Do you have a favorite episode?

Oh gosh. I can never choose just one. Crystal Venom has yet to be knocked from first place for me. Other top contenders are: The Depths, Blade of Marmora, Space Mall, Blackout, The Hunted, and Reunion. I have a good hunch I’ll be getting another fave ep in season 6. No particular feeling. I’ve just had good luck with season finales so far. So we’ll see. 

Do you have a favorite Paladin?

Shiro :) I don’t distinguish between Shiros. There is only one Shiro in canon, so far. Yeah yeah yeah season 6 may change this but as of yet, there is only one canon Shiro. And Sven. Sven counts as a Shiro. All Shiros are created equal.

Do you have a favorite Lion? (If it’s different from your fav Paladin, why?)

Hmm! I was gonna say Blue or maybe Red, but then I looked over at my shelf and saw my Black Lion and Classic Black Lion toys and WELP.

Do you have a favorite Villain?

Haggar! All day, everyday, forever more, for the rest of my existence. Boss Ass Bitch.

Do you have a favorite Alien Race? (Recurring and/or minor)

The Galra, tbh. I love how visually diverse they are!

Favorite side / other character(s)- Rebels, Generals, Blade of Marmora, Garrison, etc?

The Generals. Everyday I pray for Narti’s resurrection. Kova, because Space Cat, you know? Vrepit Sal, Varkon, Shamwow Knife Seller, basically every alien in Space Mall. The Bii Bohs... I can’t choose.

How/Why did you join the fandom?

The same reason I join any fandom. To ogle at fanart and consume fanfic. The fandom has a lot of good fan theories if you know where to look.

Care to share your favorite headcanon?

uhhhhh I guess Galra Keith still because that Sweet Vindication. I don’t really know any popular headcanons?

What do you think is the best part of the show?

The visuals! The animation!! It’s so gorgeous. Having watched DOTU after first watching VLD, I also really appreciate all the little details that are brought over from the original, while still very much doing its own thing. I can’t wait to see what other aspects are brought into the new show. Also, the updated character personalities are so appreciated. Lotor is no longer gross. Haggar is the brains of the operation. Keith has a personality, period, and is not a hundred loaves of wonder bread stuffed into a red jumpsuit. Thanks, VLD!

Any hopes and wishes for future episodes / seasons?

No more skipping over important emotional scenes.... please vld I’m begging. I also would like for Shiro and Kolivan to live into old(er) age and die of natural causes, please. And more backstory on Lotor and Sendak? They just seem like they have a lifelong beef going on that’s super personal coming from years of knowing each other.

Do you think you’ll stick it out until the end of the show?

Hell yeah! Whatever may come, I’m in it til the end. I’ll enjoy what I’m given, although I’m positive I won’t agree with it 100%. I separate the show from the fandom (I don’t think it’s fair to view a show through a bad lens just because the fans are little snots) and I have consistently enjoyed the show, even if some pacing stuff irks me.

Okay but,, imagine lance suffering from hanahaki disease,, like the disease was first developed @ the garrison where he would cough up petals every so often, then when Keith drops out the plant wilts and he’s alright until he saves Shiro w/ Keith,, and like over the period that they’re in space the disease gets worse the more in love w/ keith he falls!! Ugh! So good! like can you imagine him trying to keep it hidden from the other paladins!? lmk what you think abt that headcanon boo xoxo

Hanahaki au’s slap my ass so hard. Lance with the disease would be so fucking ANGSTY. Like image him trying to deny it and over compensating for it by pretending to be rivals and whenever keith gets too close he always runs off cause he needs to cough up a few petals. He would specifically be coughing out red carnations and everytime the shade of them becomes darker and darker (from admiration to deep love and affection). It’s even harder for him to hide it when fighting the galra especially when keith does smth really cool cause he cant just take off his helmet. So when they get back from missions he never sticks around for long before he runs off to his bedroom to clean his armor of petals. He doesn’t throw them away tho, he has a box where he keeps the most fresh ones cause he’s a big romantic.

Hunk would be the first to find out because he’d be concerned about how lance always trys to avoid keith and how he runs of so fast after missions. Lance tells Hunk everything. And hunk eventually convinces lance to tell keith soon or its going to get worse even though lance is super sure keith doesn’t feel the same way back.

The day he had planned to tell keith tho ends up also being the day keith leaves to go with the BoM. The coughing completely stops, the petals are gone, that is until the first meeting with the BoM. As soon as he saw keith on the screen he could feel the petals and what felt like full flowers moving up his throat, it took all he had not to run out of the room to cough them out.

Keith also has the hanahaki disease but it takes longer to take root in his lungs because of his nature to not try and become emotionally attached to people. It’s only so often that he coughs up petals but after he left with the BoM it only got worse. Full forget-me-nots though small started coming up in bunches leaving his throat sore. At the first meeting with voltron as soon as he saw lance what felt like a full bouquet of flowers sprout from inside his chest and grow up into his esophagus. He swallows it back trying not to draw attention to himself.

We they see each other again they both immediately cough up full flowers. Neither of them though try to hide it and it was the last time any flowers grew in their lungs.

Sproggle headcanons with a side of science?

So I stumbled upon the idea of 'sproggle from' @lotors-saltwife and @blackmoonbabe and I fell down a hole because #science, so here ya go. I ship both Shallura and Lotura so I've divided these up according to ship...

Science

A quick briefing on the human menstrual cycle, because science

There are two phases, follicular and luteal, with ovulation in the middle

Follicular phase starts the day of your period, which is considered Day 1 of your cycle

A number of egg-containing follicles will mature, until one or sometimes more will be released during ovulation

Once menstruation is complete and you're no longer experiencing cramps or low energy, the follicular hormones usually mean you'll feel pretty strong and in top health

Essentially your body is preparing itself to get pregnant, so it wants you to feed good and get frisky

Ovulation means release of an egg from the follicle into the fallopian tubes

This is controlled by a complex interplay of chemicals, but basically, you get a massive SPIKE of hormones

Thus in addition to the friskiness and extra energy many people notice around ovulation, you can actually 'feel hormonal' here just as much as in PMS or while menstruating

It just typically doesn't last as long

Luteal phase is the one many of us hate

Progesterone (and to a lesser degree, oestrogen) levels start increasing after ovulation to trigger thickening of the uterus lining and prepare your body for implantation of the fertilised egg

If implantation doesn't happen, those hormones rapidly decrease, which causes mood changes

The drop in hormones triggers the breakdown of the uterine lining, which means cramps and bleeding

Now, to sproggle. I'm assuming here

Happens yearly based on the Altean calendar, probably in Autumn or Spring depending on how fast Altean gestation is (assuming you want to give birth in Spring)

Based on the earth calender it happenes... let's say every one-and-a-half years, but not precisely

So it would move about according to the human calendar

Each stage probably lasts a week, maybe a week and a half

Symptom severity would depend on physical health - sleep, diet, exercise - plus genetic and random fluctuations in hormones and the body's response to them

Allura is totally on top of this shit, she is THAT FRIEND who talks about their period

She has a fancy tracker so she can predict the timing and stages more accurately than just with a calendar

This helps her to be self-aware of her emotional changes so she doesn't have those days where you think you're dying but it's just your hormones

Hunk and Pidge designed it using a hormone sensor of some kind, probably breath-based

Under Coran's guidance re: Altean biology

These things used to be readily available on Altea, but obviously that source no longer exists

Allura's sproggle is also incorporated into Voltron and coalition strategy meetings without any fuss

Allura is very open, there's no body-shaming with this Princess

Just a part of life isn't it

we're at war here, lets have as few surprises as possible

Most parts of the galaxy have experience with a local species for whom this is a factor

There's training modules on it in diplomatic training

It would seem weird NOT to include it in their planning

BOM is pretty helpful here because they deal with hormonal cycles in a lot of different species, including hybrids

Headcanon that Galra males are the ones with cycles, much milder but also more frequent, somewhere on par with human cycles

Chief Dad of Marmora Kolivan is therefore all over that shit

He has spreadsheets

It never occurs to anyone to suppress sproggle, because why would you want to?

Voltron is a team, and the paladins and Coran can take on tasks when Allura needs them to

Allura is highly trained both physically and mentally - she's entirely capable of switching into combat mode during emergencies

Parts of it are also pretty fun, why would you miss out on that?

Stages of Sproggle: Shallura

Follicular

Allura's second-favourite stage

Allura can usually whip the paladin's butts in training, but she gets a week or so of super strength during sproggle

This is actually how the paladins find out about it the first time

Allura goes to block an attack by Pidge and accidentally yeets her across the room

'Do that again!'

Keith likes this stage, its a chance to train for fights with extra-strong opponents

Some of his BOM friends will just 'happen' to swing by for training on these days

Especially as the years pass and Allura becomes an incredibly strong warrior even out of sproggle

(I saw some excellent art of a stacked allura with body hair the other day and I loved it but I've lost it, if you know the thing send me the thing?)

One cycle Allura reaches truly epic levels of strength and Kolivan suddenly finds the BOM base deserted

He turns up intending to rip them all a new one

Ends up taking on Allura one-on-one

She puts him on his ass and he just roars with laughter, because it's been a very long time since that happened

Ovulation

Allura's favourite stage

Shiro tries, he really does

Allura might be much stronger than him and have far better endurance than he does, but goddamnit, Shiro was the Champion

If there's anyone who should be able to keep up with her, it's him

Also he loves Allura, he loves her body, he loves loving her.

But even Shiro the Hero gets tired

One particularly strong cycle Pidge finds him working in a closet

'I just needed a moment to actually get something done'

Pidge brings him coffee and a book, goes and distracts Allura with a training session

By the end of this stage Shiro isn't even trying to get work done, he just ends up taking long naps underneath all the pillows Allura has collected for her nest

Allura lets him sleep and goes to take a loooong shower

Luteal

The garrison trio quietly refer to this as Hulk week

Very fucking quietly

This is not a good time to play practical jokes

Or for teasing

Sarcasm and subtlety are completely lost on Hulk Allura

The first time Allura sproggled with the paladins around, Keith told Allura she looked tired

Honestly he meant well, he thought she needed a nap

He ended up fleeing to Red for protection

Red was about ten seconds from busting through the wall anyway

'Come out here instead of hiding behind your lion and we'll see who's tired'

*roaring in the background, accompanied by hysterical laughter from the other paladins*

I'm inclined to think that Altean PMS is actually legendary

'You have two options, surrender or face our Altean Princess in the middle of Oestrus'

'Go loose, Princess'

The BOM probably be like, can we borrow the Princess?

Voltron gets a week off, Allura's got this

(thank god, because Shiro's still recovering)

Lance is all over this stage

He's got loads of family, he probably tracked his friends' cycles at the Garrison

He knows how to tell when Allura is genuinely upset and when her hormones have blindsided her

He knows how to gently steer her into a more mindful place without guilting her over something she can't control

Interesting sidethought if she's anything like me, the day or so before menses start Allura's probably clumsy enough to kill someone by accident.

Menstruation

Coran keeps the infirmary well stocked with migraine meds, heat pads, and medicinal tea

The Alteans had an excellent, mess-free, practical and simple means of dealing with menstruation, and the castle is very well stocked because they're an essential medical device (down with the tampon tax folks)

Allura actually is horrified the first time Pidge comes to her to ask for tampons

'You use WHAT?'

So Pidge and Coran modify one of the Altean devices for Earth biology

Pidge is entirely 'Fuck the patriarchy' so she loves this

Takes it back to earth when she finally visits

Changes everyone's life

Hunk's favourite stage because he gets to fuss over Allura with heat pads and blankets and tea

He's also the only one who can use spices well enough to make something allura can stomach on mornings where she's super sensitive to smell, or when she's feeling nauseous

Has an entire binder of recipes using copper-rich food (Altean blood uses copper to bind oxygen instead of iron)

Also Shiro's favourite stage, actually

He gets such good snuggles and he's been touch starved so he loves snuggles

He's basically a walking heat pad

I mean with all that muscle mass he's going to radiate body heat its science

He's also incredibly good at back rubs

All of the paladins like the tail end of the cycle when Allura gets super chill and lovey

The whole cycle is kind of a chance to evaluate their relationships with each other, see if anything particularly sensitive came up during Luteal, do some self-work

It becomes a tradition to express gratitude towards each other

The whole thing is kinda like space thanksgiving, but with a lot more sex and fighting

Stages of Sproggle: Lotura

Follicular

Lotor is a space scientist and has a very keen sense of smell so he's likely to realise what's going on even before the tracking device

He actually keeps a tally of how many times he beats the tracker

Not competitive. at. all.

Makes the most of this stage, when Allura has time and is willing, by having her fight upstart idiot generals in the arena to put them in their place

No-one's going to think Altean blood is lesser once they've been wupped by Allura

Lotor's the one to discover that her alchemical abilities are heightened during this stage

Which leads to him seeking out other species with similar hormones to see if they have similar abilities

Ovulation

Lotor's reaction varies depending on what stage of his own cycle he's on

Male Galran Follicular equivalent: Extra strength? Extra endurance? We can put this to use.

Male Galran Ovulation equivalent: No-one sees them for a week

Male Galran luteal and menses equivalents: Thank god for the engineering corps because 'Allura, darling I simply can't'

The generals, particularly Ezor, think this stage is fucking hilarious Emperor Lotor doesn't know the meaning of delegate, except for this week

'We'll deal with that ourselves, Lotor's busy '

Luteal

Trashing sentries

Victory or death

Zethrid loves this stage

Wants to take Allura to get into Galran bar fights but Lotor will never allow it

'The civil war was bad enough'

Menses

The smell of blood actually makes Lotor uber-protective

If Allura's anywhere near him at this stage, no matter where he is in his own cycle, he turns totally feral

Decapitated a sentry once, which was when they decided Allura would stay on the castleship at this stage in future

Because he can't be there, Lotor sends her a small army of sentries to tend to her every need

Flowers, pillows, her favourite space delicacies

Axca is sent to stay with Allura to be Lotor's eyes and ears

Takes her duties very seriously, but secretly enjoys it when the mice braid her hair, which is why Allura makes sure to always request her presence

Extras

I see a lot of potential for Shalotor/Shlotura here

Some science: there is interesting evidence for people preferring uber-masculine, strong and physical types during the fertile period, because any offspring would be more likely to have those genes and survive, and then preferring kinder or slightly more feminine types after that because they're less likely to get jealous and eat the offspring, and more likely to want to protect said offspring

Open to discourse on who would be which, Shiro or Lotor or both

I also just love the idea of its the end of the week and the Emperor and the Champion are having a hushed argument about whose 'day it is' and 'dammit Lotor you're the immortal space vampire' 'I'm out of Gatorade Shiro'

Aftermath

Alright friends, it’s headcanon time again! This time going right for the feels.

This will go in the “Headcanon” category. If you want to take this idea and expand upon it, please do! Tag me so I can see what you create! And HERE are my other headcanons!

When all's said and done, Zarkon is defeated and the universe is saved, the paladins would return home.

And there are questions. ESPECIALLY from the World Space Government (which I'm sure there must be?). We see in Episode 1 that humans haven't discovered alien life yet, and they just brought back two sentient, very intelligent, human-like creatures with super advanced technology. Not to mention a successful human-galra hybrid (seemingly) without huge biological problems.

(And aliens have a concept of a mall? And what on Earth is ‘Quintessence’? It’s a castle and a ship?)

So there is a long period of time before Team Voltron is actually free to do what they want. And once they're free, the questions start to come from within the group.

What's going to happen with Coran and Allura? Where are they going to go? If anywhere? There's no Altea to return to. Is Allura still considered the princess if she only rules over one person, who's her caretaker? What if the universe needs Voltron again? 

What about Keith's relationship with the Blade of Marmora? Would he go back to be a part of them? Would he pursue his mother?

Now that the Holts are back, will they complete the Kerberos Mission? Would Shiro dare go back there, considering what a traumatic experience that was? Would Pidge join them?

Could Lance and Hunk go back to the Garrison to actually get pilot's licenses? Even though they're pro lion pilots? Where does being a paladin rank in the military?  What about their families? How would they explain any of this?

No one really wants to think about any of that. So in the meantime, the paladins decide they should show the Alteans Earth, both in terms of natural wonders and the culture of humans. They take turns deciding where to go and make a long road trip out of it.

Shiro vouches for the simple. Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon, Mt. Fuji, something nature-based that wouldn't overwhelm the Alteans with a culture shock. Allura completely falls in love with mountains - Everest, The Rockies, any and all of them.

Lance is the opposite. He wants to take them to London, New York, Moscow, Tokyo, Sydney, all the big capitals of the world. After all, learning through immersion is the most effective, right?

Coran is a bit too enthusiastic for the New Yorkers. But the paladins are happy he isn't overwhelmed. Allura, on the other hand, doesn't like how taxis will almost run her over, even though she's "in the human CROSSWALK SHIRO WHAT DOES HE THINK HE'S DOING I'M WALKING HERE!"

She ends up fitting in more than anyone expected.

Pidge wants to expose them to some of the concentrated culture and history. She takes them to the Smithsonian (which they spend DAYS exploring, stopping at each exhibit and reading the paragraphs about each object).

She also takes them to the scientific sides of Earth. The Monterey Bay Aquarium, the San Diego Zoo, Tier 1 Universities with labs, NASA Headquarters, you name it.

Hunk suggests something a bit different. While culture is good and all, he thinks they should definitely have more fun. The largest waterpark in the world. Disneyland. The fastest rollercoaster that's actually legal.

They try their best. And Coran and Allura hold up well. But they don't understand the seeming obsession with an animated mouse, and rollercoasters aren't really Coran’s thing. And nothing compares to piloting the Lions in zero-G.

By the time it's Keith's turn to suggest locations, the Alteans are wiped. Happy and educated, but exhausted nonetheless. No one has any idea what Keith might be thinking about sending them to.

"How about we just visit our hometowns? We can stay a few days in each, relax, introduce families, and let them absorb everything."

Coran and Allura are 100% down with this.

It goes well until they get to Keith's hometown. A small city in the heart of Texas, past large expanses of cattle ranches  ("ALLURA LOOK AT ALL THE KALTENECKERS!")

Keith finds his old home, and no one else is there. He sheepishly apologizes for the mess because he hasn't been there for years. It's quiet, and there's not much to do, but that's exactly what the Alteans need.

They go to take a nap and recover, leaving the humans alone for an hour or so.

Hunk breaks the silence with a wobbling voice, "I don't want them to go..."

Pidge had tears dripping down her cheeks, but she doesn't say anything.

Lance and Keith are just barely holding it together. Lance's bottom lip is wobbling. Keith won't look at anyone or say anything, but tears are gathering up. Everyone put the ideas out of their minds so they wouldn't have to face these realities.

Shiro promises he'll talk to them about it - he seems the most composed about the situation. He doesn't know what he'll say, but he still promises to talk.

When the Alteans come back from the nap, everyone is a mess. But they look upset too? What's going on?

Allura is the first to speak, but she uses force to get her words through, "Coran and I were talking...and we've realized we can't go back. Well, we always knew, but it recently came to life again that...we have no planet to return to." 

She straightens her spine and puts on a touch face, "And for all we know, there could be another threat in the universe that Voltron needs to address! And that doesn't work very well if Voltron is scattered across the galaxies!"

Coran takes a much more gentle and direct approach, "Putting Voltron aside, we've grown quite fond of you humans and your Earth culture. You have become a family to the Princess and myself. And the fact of the matter is...we have nowhere to go. Perhaps it is overstepping our boundaries as guests on your planet, but...could we stay-"

Before Coran can finish, the paladins have gathered them up in a large hug, sobbing with relief.

They park the castleship and all the Lions in an undisclosed location to keep the lions safe. It quickly becomes more of a home than a ship. 

Each paladins' room gets decorated with new paint and posters. They get a large tank for an aquarium, fill the shelves with books, stock the kitchen with real food, get some carpets for those metal floors.

They patch in a direct line with NASA and the ISS to do their part in research and protecting Earth. The Altean tech boosts earth's space race, and connections with other intelligent species are established.

As the years go by, the lions are regularly taken out for exercise and to go anywhere in the local universe. Blue often visits the Garrison with Lance, both as a bragging piece and to help with training. She loves when the students explore her and marvel at how easy Lance can pilot her.

Green serves as a research facility for missions off of Earth. She helps finish up the Kerberos mission with the Holts, and is a huge help when transporting rocks and materials from foreign bodies. She also helps with rainforest restoration, if being nothing but a figurehead (because a giant metal lion might have some troubles landing in the rainforest without doing any damage).

Yellow stays on Earth most of the time. He very good at helping with natural disasters. Hurricane going to hit the east coast? Everyone get in the big metal lion and evacuate, we’ll be able to make enough trips fast enough to get everyone out in time. What are we going to do about all these buildings collapsing from the earthquake? Have the big metal lion stabilize infrastructure. Do we need a really big hole really fast? I bet that big metal lion can dig.

Red is much more on the outer-space level. He’ll redirect asteroids out of Earth’s path, and transport people long distances for negotiations. When there’s nothing to be done, he’ll stay with the Black Lion and relax.

Finally, the Black Lion stays with the castleship most of the time. Just like Shiro, they’re done with all this saving the universe. They’ve both served their time, been captured, had Zarkon inside them - they’re done. They retire. But they’re always ready to form Voltron, just in case.

Ultimately, the Lions and the paladins continue to be useful on Earth, zooming around the planet and helping in their various ways.

But the castleship remains parked for the rest of its life.
