A Nightmare on Elm Street:
(A/N: this is the start of a conceptual draft of my Re-Remake of ANOES, with Freddy being written to be played by Kyle Gallner convenience I’m going to be tagging it ‘Sleeping Brutal: ANOES’ but this is ALL Fanfic and none of it is real although I’d love to fuck around with the idea here as I seriously write it off tumblr. This is written like a script, not exactly like a book or fic!)
——
Cold Open: Exterior; Springwood Mental Hospital; Day
*Close up of a Street Sign reading ‘Elm St.’, Zoom into the window of the hospital*
A man can be heard Screaming, first seeming far away, but getting louder.
Interior; Hospital Room
A man wearing a dingy Striped Red and Green sweater is being cornered by two Nurses. (Rooney Mara or Heather Langenkamp cameo? Both?)
Nancy Thompson stands behind them.
The younger nurse puts her hands out in a peace offering.
Nurse One: Mister Krueger, I promise you, no one is going to hurt you. But you’ve been awake for Nine days, you must be exhausted.
There is no acknowledgement of her words. Freddy mutters to himself quietly, fidgeting anxiously. He slaps himself to stay awake.
The older Nurse is visibly done with his antics, leaning to Nancy.
Nurse Two: Go get Security. I’m not dealing with this again tonight.
She is extremely serious.
Nancy leaves the room, and we follow down the corridor of the hospital to the break room. (Possible Robert Englund and Jackie Earle Haley cameos?)
Nancy: Um… She said to come get you. He’s…
We hear Freddy continue screaming at the Nurses.
The Two security guards give each other a knowing look. They follow Nancy.
Security Guard One: I’m too old for this shit.
The other Guard pats his shoulder.
Security Guard Two: You and me both, man.
They return to the hospital room, and Freddy is further agitated by the guards.
Freddy: I’m not sleeping, you geriatric fucks.
Guard Two: Don’t make me manhandle you again, dude. These ladies are just trying to help you.
Freddy sees this as a threat, punching at the guard and missing. He struggles as the guard puts him in a safety hold. He still manages to start bashing his own head into the wall, drawing blood.
Nancy is shocked, seeing someone like this for the first time.
Nancy: STOP! YOU’RE HURTING YOURSELF PLEASE STOP!
Nancy rushes over, physically keeping him from hurting his head. He looks up at her for a long, quiet moment, bloodied and irate.
Nurse Two: Coming in with the Sedation.
Freddy starts screaming and thrashing.
Nancy and Guard Two shift to make room for Nurse Two and Guard One. Guard One pulls down Freddy’s sleeve, Nurse Two sticks the needle into his arm and pushes the plunger down before quickly moving away.
Nancy, still supporting Freddy’s head, watches him fight the sedative. His eyes soften, almost pathetically. He babbles softly.
Freddy: No, No, No, No…
Blinking, he manages a moment of clarity. He breaks out of the hold, grabbing Nancy. He is frantic and pleading.
Freddy: Don’t leave me there all alone again. Please. I can’t…
Another Needle is plunged into his arm, and Freddys hand leaves streaks of his own blood down Nancy’s face as he falls limp.
Nurse Two: Fucking redheads. They’re always a pain to sedate.
Nancy brushes a strand of dark red hair from his forehead as if realizing this for the first time. The nurses pull back the sheets, and The guards lift him into the hospital bed.
(Cont; Hospital room; Moments later)
Nancy is cleaning the blood off of Freddy’s unconscious face with a wet cloth. He’s now in hospital garb, and There is an IV and various machinery. Nancy places an oxygen mask on his face. She runs a hand over his hair.
Nurse Two: I’ve seen that look a hundred times before. No one forgets their first time dealing with someone like him in the field. You’re not leaving his side, are you?
A tear slips down Nancy’s cheek and se wipes it away with her hand before looking to the nurse.
Nancy: He begged me not to….Heather he was so afraid, and confused. What’s going to happen to him?
Nurse Two/Heather: They’ll sedate him a little further and then it’s a game of giving his system time to rest. In about a week we’ll wake him and start trying to balance his medications all over again. That’s the usual with this guy.
Nancy seems to ponder this for a long moment. She is deeply disturbed and sympathetic towards this man she doesn’t know.

This book discusses the evolution of Nubian culture and history through the Bronze Age and the Napatan-Meroitic Period.
It was written to coincide with an exhibition at the University Museum at Pennsylvania, and the unrivalled Nubian collection of that museum and of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, provides some striking illustrations.
Maps, chronological tables and a clearly-written text make this an excellent introduction to Nubian civilisation, while well-illustrated discussions of Nubian art and architecture will make this catalogue a valuable source for Egyptian scholars.
"The Nubian and Egyptian civilizations are the two oldest known in Africa.
They shared the same river, the Nile, and a common border over which contact and interaction ebbed and flowed for thousands of years. Inevitably, Nubian and Egyptian history Egyptian civilizations are closely intertwined, but ultimately the two civilizations were very different from each other.
Both the Nubian worldview and modes of cultural expression have always been unique, even as Egyptian art, language, and concepts became part of the cultural vocabulary used by the Nubians.
Furthermore, Nubia was typically rival, not dependent, on Egypt, as the two powers incessantly competed for territory and trade routes in the… 'Lower Nile' river system."

2010 Freddy Krueger.  We all hate him.  We all despise him.  We all loathe him with the force of a thousand raging suns.  A lot of us see OG Freddy as the real Freddy, with 2010 being a blemish or even an imposter.
So.  With that in mind, I present you all with A Concept.
Tumblr media
In Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, “Freddy Krueger” is some kind of otherworldly Entity that seems to adopt the guise of fictional characters and feed off the stories people create.  (Or at least, that’s my interpretation.)  He’s seemingly killed by the end of the movie, but for our purposes, we’ll just say he was defeated.
We don’t really know the specifics of what the Entity is, but I imagine there are other beings like him.  So what if another “meta demon” tried to take the Freddy mantle?
For this Concept, I imagine no more ANOES movies were made after the events of New Nightmare.  After all, multiple people associated with the film series were killed or simply vanished, and nobody wanted to run the risk of the same thing happening to them.  The ANOES movies become a thing of the past in the film world.  Or at least that’s the case until the New Line Cinema/Warner Bros merge in 2008.  WB gets the idea to reboot the franchise, and they even have someone write up a potential script.  But again, nobody wants to actually take it on and make the movie.  The ANOES series has pretty much become synonymous with bad luck.
So the movie is shelved.
Years later, the Entity manages to crawl his way out of whatever limbo-state he’s been in since his defeat.  He latches onto a random creative and feeds off their storywriting, fully intending to kill them once he’s strong enough, then go find Heather Langenkamp and kill her, too.
However, once he is strong enough to kill the person he’s attached himself to and enters their dreams… he finds someone else already there.  Another meta-demon.  And this one is also sporting the guise of Freddy Krueger.  But there’s something different about this guise… something wrong. And the Entity does not like it.
If anyone’s going to be Freddy Krueger, it’s going to be him.  Not this little bitch.  Not this little imposter.  Not to mention, this little creative is meant to be his kill.
The Entity reluctantly saves this creative with the intention of forcing them to help him reclaim the mantle of “Freddy Krueger” before eventually killing them.  Meanwhile, the new guy, the Imposter, has taken on the guise of the shelved reboot-Freddy, and he wants to be the new Freddy and enact the movie he never got. Which puts the two into conflict over who gets to be the “real” Freddy Krueger…
Anyways, yeah, that’s my concept for the longfic I’m working on, titled Waking Nightmares.
(Tumblr plz don’t fuck up the quality of the pic, it was a pain to draw.)

Sorry, Cassandra.
So, it's definite then
It's written in the stars, darlings
Everything must come to an end - Susanne Sundfør
I first learned about the climate crisis in 2008, as an undergrad at Hunter College, in a class called The History and Science of Climate Change. For the next decade I would struggle with how to process and act on the scientific paradigm shift climate change required: that human activity could disrupt the climate system and create a planetary ecosystem shift making Earth uninhabitable to human life. I became a climate justice activist and attempted to work directly on The Problem which was actually, as philosopher Timothy Morton writes, a hyperobject, something so systemic and enormous in size and scope as to be almost unintelligible to human awareness. I’ve cycled through probably every single response a person could have to this knowledge, despair, ecstasy, rage, hope. I’ve landed somewhere close to what I might call engaged bewilderment. For me, his particular locale has a soundtrack, and it’s Susanne Sundfør’s cinematic dance dystopia Ten Love Songs, an album that tells a story of love and loss in the Anthropocene. Sundfør is a sonic death doula for the Neoliberal project, with a uniquely Scandinavian version of bleak optimism. To truly grapple with this time of escalating transition, we need to really face what is, not what we hope or fear will be, but what is actually happening. A throbbing beat with shimmering synths around which to orient your dancing mortal envelope can’t hurt.
Tumblr media
Susanne Sundfør’s Ten Love Songs was released a few days after Valentine’s Day in February of 2015, six months after I had been organizing Buddhists and meditators for the Peoples Climate March.  I was already a fan, having first heard her voice as part of her collaboration with dreamy synth-pop outfit m83 on the Oblivion soundtrack. Oblivion was visually striking but felt like a long music video. The soaring synths and Sundfør’s powerful voice drove the plot more than the acting, though I loved how Andrea Riseborough played the tragic character Vika, whose story could have been more central to the plot but was sidelined for a traditional Tom Cruise romantic centerpiece. But since the movie was almost proud of its style over investment in substance, the music stood out. The soundscapes were as expansive as the green-screened vistas of 2077  in the movie. It was just nostalgic enough while also feeling totally new, a paradox encapsulated in the name of m83’s similarly wistful and sweeping Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming.  I am not exempt from taking comfort in style that signifies a previous era, and I am also not alone in it. It’s a huge industry, and while the MAGA-style yearning for a previous era is one manifestation, maybe there are ways to acknowledge culture as cyclical in a way that doesn’t sacrifice traditional knowledge to some imagined myth of perpetual progress.
When Ten Love Songs came out the following year, I listened to it on repeat for days.  Sundfør seemed to have absorbed the music-driven sci-fi into a concept album, with m83 providing her with a whole new panopoly of sounds at her disposal. Like Oblivion,  Ten Love Songs told the story of a future dystopia with high speed chases, nihilistic pleasure-seeking and operatic decadence against a backdrop of technocratic inequality. It mixed electro-pop with chamber music and I listened to it on a Greyhound ride to Atlantic City in the middle of snowy February. I hadn’t felt like this since high school, that a full album was a sort of soundtrack to my own life, which I could experience as cinematic in some way while the music was playing. This situated me in my own story, of studying climate change as an undergrad and graduating into a financial collapse, working as a personal assistant to an author writing about ecological collapse and ritual use of psychedelics, to joining a Buddhist community and organizing spiritual activists around climate justice.
Tumblr media
Ten Love Songs is a breakup album, with lyrics telling of endings and running out of time. But it didn’t read to me as an album about a single human romantic relationship coming to an end. It felt like a series of vignettes about the planet and its ecosphere breaking up with us, all of us. People. Some songs like Accelerate, one of the album’s singles, throb in an anthem to nihilistic numbness and speeding up into a catastrophe that feels inevitable. Fade Away is a bit lighter, tonally and lyrically, (and if you listen, please note the exquisitely perfect placement of what sounds like a toaster “ding!”), but is still about fading away, falling apart. The way the songs seem to drive a narrative of anthropocenic collapse built on science fiction film scores, the combination of orchestra and techno-pop, absolutely draws on Sundfør’s experience collaborating with m83 for the Oblivion soundtrack, which itself combined Anthony Gonzalez’s love for the adult-scripted teen dramas of his own 80’s adolescence. In Ten Love Songs, Sundfør takes what she learned from this collaboration and scores not a movie but a life experience of living through ecological collapse and all of the heartbreak and desire that erupts in a time when everything seems so close to the knife’s edge.
I am reminded of another Scandinavian dance album that was extremely danceable yet harbored within it a sense of foreboding. The Visitors, ABBA’s eighth studio album, was considered their venture into more mature and complex music. The two couples who comprised the band had divorced the year before it was released, and the entire atmosphere of the album is paranoid, gloomy, and tense. The cover shows the four musicians, on opposite sides of a dark room, ignoring each other. Each song is melancholy and strange in its own way, unique for a pop ensemble like Abba. One song in particular showcases their ability to use an archetype of narrative tragedy and prophesy to tell the story of regret. Cassandra is sung from the perspective of those who didn’t heed the woman cursed by Zeus to foretell the future but never be believed.
I have always considered myself a pretty big Abba fan, something my high school choir instructor thought was riotously funny. I was born in the 80’s and nobody in my family liked disco, so I seemed like something of an anachronism. But pop music, especially synth-oriented pop, has always felt like a brain massage to me. It could get my inner motor moving when I felt utterly collapsed in resignation to the scary chaos of my early life. But I only discovered the song Cassandra in 2017, while giving The Visitors a full listen. It felt like I had never heard the song before, though, as a fan I must have. But something about 2015 made the song stand out more. It starts with piano, soft tambourine, and the ambient sound of a harbor. It has a coastal Mediterranean vibe, as some Abba songs do, foreshadowing Cassandra’s removal from her home city, an event she foretold but could not get anyone to believe. It’s a farewell song of regret, echoing the regret the members of Abba felt about their own breakups.
Tumblr media
We feel so full of promise at the dawn of a new relationship. Only after the split can we look back and say we saw the fissures in the bond. The signs were there. Why did we ignore them? This happens on an individual level but the Cassandra paradox is an archetype that climate scientists and journalists are very familiar with. This particular Abba song, and the Visitors album overall, uses this archetype to tell the story of a breakup in retrospect. With climate change, the warnings have been there, even before science discovered the rising carbon in the atmosphere. Indigenous peoples have been warning of ecological collapse since colonization began. Because of white supremacy and an unwavering belief in “progress,” perpetual economic and technological development and growth, warnings from any source but especially marginalized sources have been noise to those who benefit from that perpetual growth model and from white supremacy itself. Is there a way to undo the Cassandra curse and render warnings signal BEFORE some major event turns us all into the chorus from Abba’s song, singing “some of us wanted- but none of us could--  listen to words of warning?” Composer Pauline Oliveros called listening a radical act. It is especially so when we listen actively to the sounds and signals of those we would otherwise overlook.
When I look back at my life in the time that Sundfør’s Ten Love Songs and m83’s movie music seems nostalgic for, the late 1980’s in New Jersey,  I was a child with deeply dissociative and escapist tendencies, which helped me survive unresolved grief, loss, and chaos. I recognize my love for Abba’s hypnotic synth music as a surrendering to the precise and driving rhythm of an all-encompassing sound experience. I also see how my early life prepared me to be sensitized to the story climate science was telling when I finally discovered it in 2008. I had already grown up with Save the Whales assemblies and poster-making contests, with a heavy emphasis on cutting six-pack rings so that sea life would not be strangled to death. I knew what it was like to see something terrible happening all around you and to feel powerless to stop it, because of the way my parents seemed incapable of and unsupported in their acting out their own traumatic dysregulation. Wounds, unable to heal, sucking other people into the abyss. I escaped through reading science fiction, listening to music like Abba and Aphex Twin loud enough to rattle my bones. I wanted to overwhelm my own dysregulated nervous system. I dreamed of solitude on other planets, sweeping grey vistas, being the  protagonist of my own story where nothing ever hurt because ice ran through my veins and the fjords around me. My home planet was dying, and nobody could hear those of us screaming into the wind about it.
Ten Love Songs woke up that lost cosmic child who had banished herself to another solar system. Songs of decadence, songs of endings, songs of loss. Though that album was not overtly about climate change, Sundfør did talk about ecological collapse in interviews for her radically different follow-up album Music For People In Trouble. After the success of Ten Love Songs, Sundfør chose to travel to places that she said “might not be around much longer” in order to chronicle the loss of the biosphere for her new album. It is more expressly and urgently about the current global political moment, but the seeds for those themes were present and in my opinion much more potent in the poppier album. But maybe that’s the escapist in me.
The old forms that brought us to this point are in need of end-of-life care. Capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchal theocratic nationalism, neoliberalism, they all need death doulas. Escapism makes sense in response to traumatic stimulus, and for many of us it may have helped us survive difficult circumstances. But if we are to face what it means to be alive on this planet at this moment, we might be here to be present to and help facilitate and ease the process of putting these systems to rest. And maybe this work is not at odds with a dance party. The ability to be visionary about shared alternatives to these dying systems is not inherently escapist, when we are willing to take the steps together to live into those new stories. What would happen if cursed Cassandras, instead of pleading with existing power structures to heed warnings that sound like noise to them, turned to each other to restore the civic body through listening, through bearing witness to each others unacknowledged and thwarted grief over losses unacknowledged by those same systems of coercive power?
Tumblr media
Engaged bewilderment means my version of hope, informed by Rebecca Solnit’s work on the topic, comes from the acceptance that things will happen that I could never have imagined possible. Climate change is happening and there are certain scientific certainties built into that trajectory. Some of it is written in the stars. But as with any dynamic system change, we do not know exactly how it will all shake out. These unknowns can be sources of fear and despair, but there is also the possibility for agency, choice and experimentation. The trajectory of my individual life was always going to end in death. Does that make it a failure? Or does it render each choice and engagement of movement towards the unknown an ecstatic act? As the old forms collapse, no need to apologize to the oracles. At this point they are dancing, and hope you’ll join.

Completely/Bananas (熟/甘蕉) by RINGO
CONTENT WARNING: Manipulation, Abuser’s POV
youtube
Lemme just one thing off the bat: This is a song with some darkness to it. (Not quite as bad as say, Suji or Coin Locker Baby by Maretu, but still around their ‘lighter’ end songs, like Mind Brand.)
Also, that title is amazing, and probably unintentional (since this a ‘complete’ version of a short song sample RINGO made back in November entitled “Banana” (甘蕉), but fits the concept of the song very well.
It turns out this one was very easy to translate, as a huge section of the verses is just nouns stacked up next to each other, followed by very similar verb forms. Even so, there are probably parts that could be done better, and the mess of guessing which pronouns go where means there are couple of places where I put what I think fits best.

これからすごいことになるぜ korekara sugoi koto ni naru ze will go on to become amazing things!
低空飛行でいきていこう teikuuhikou de ikite ikou Let's go and live in low-altitude flight!
NOTES
(1) すごいことになるぜ (sugoi koto ni naru ze)appears twice in the song, here and at the end, and thanks tot he context surrounding them, I decided to translate them with the two different meanings of sugoi, one bad, one good.
(2) I’m presuming ‘low altitude flight’ is some variation of ‘on thin ice’, with similar connotations.
(3) Just like in ‘Chew. Then, Swallow.’, this is one of two times a personal pronoun is used in the song, boku, and it defines the whole perspective of it. This song, before the closing lines, could easily be from a victim’s perspective if it was not for this. Also interesting is that RINGO uses boku in hiragana and then contrasts it with it’s kanji in a word that has it’s original meaning preserved, 下僕 (manservant). This appears deliberate, as when boku appears again, it is written with 僕.
(4) It’s probably obvious, but this a garbled Vocaloid-ised version of a Japanese answerphone.

THE ACE PROJECT #002 "Embracing Your Vulnerability"
We recently had a school project in Philosophy that asks us to do a short "ted talk" in front of the class. I just want to address that I love our Philosophy class, it honestly is the one that made me restore my interest in school, since it heavily discusses methods of finding your enlightenment, which I am very passionate about.
Anyway, here's a raw, unedited script of my ted talk presentation titled "Embracing YOUR Vulnerability", where I discussed my anxiety, my weakpoints and other things that I discovered about myself during "THE ACE PROJECT #001"
Habang nagsusulat ako ng script, nagiisip ako ng magandang introduction, like an activity, or a question, or even just a catchphrase. Pero I also realized that this talk is not all about that, this is all about honesty, parang the simpler siguro, the better. Well, “shock introductions” are not really my thing. So I’ll just do what I do best: ang makipag-daldalan ng five minutes straight.
So, here’s a five-minute (or more) “ted talk” of me, pushing myself out of “that comfort zone,” trying new things, and public speaking just happens to be one of them.
Well, as a plus-size gay man with social anxiety, I want to address that I never liked public speaking. Why? Kasi alam kong madali lang mapansin ang insecurities and flaws ko, and alam kong alam niyo ‘yun.
And I know that every time I walk in a room with people in it, I know damn well that they’re seeing that flaws in me, and ina-assume ko agad that they’re judging me or whatever. Siguro dahil sa mindset kong everyone has their own “standards of beauty” and just knowing that I’ll never be in any of that criteria.
Oo, medyo selfish, and weak, and like of course “not everything’s about me,” pero wala eh, kapag nandoon ka na sa situation, iisipin mo na lahat ng worst scenario, lahat ng possible na worst cases. Hanggang sa mag-spiral na siya to thoughts like “what am I doing here?”, “ano ba iniisip nila?”, “mas better pa siguro kung nasa bahay nalang ako”, and other negative things that I know about myself.
Pero ayun, siguro having social anxiety is a double-edged sword. Kasi the more that I’m alone, the more I have the opportunities to explore, to know myself, to discover myself, and figure out what I really love, what I really want to do, what I’m really capable of.
And honestly, the more I’m knowing myself, the more I’m appreciating myself. Hindi nalang puro negative traits ko ‘yung napapansin ko sa akin, napapansin ko na rin ‘yung strengths ko, ‘yung mga kaya kong gawin, ‘yung mga skills ko, and finally, who am I as a person.
Yes, I know that I’m not perfect, lahat naman tayo hindi. Sabi nga ni miss Suico eh, “we are all a work in progress.” Yes, all of us have done some terrible things in the past, pero does that define us? No, because people are gonna keep on making new mistakes, and those mistakes are also gonna be the ones that will teach us how to be better, and how to improve ourselves, for the better.
So ayun, good afternoon, classmates! I’m here to talk about “Embracing YOUR Vulnerability”. I’m here to talk about the concept of vulnerability and what do I think are the key factors that are pushing us to either avoid it or embrace it.
So ayun guys, before I talk about it, I just want to say that I’m lucky enough to have the opportunity na makausap ‘yung kalahati ng mga tao dito sa room about their perceptions of “vulnerability.” When they gave me their time and most heartfelt answers, this became more than just my ted talk, it became OUR ted talk, this is our discussion about this very personal matter.
Ang thought kasi na nagbabagabag sa akin before I went into this topic was the society’s negative stigmatization of the term “vulnerability” as a sign of weakness. Though I won’t blame them, kasi wala eh, lumaki na tayo sa ganoong perception sa pagiging vulnerable, either galing sa environment natin, or sa sarili nating past experiences, which is very valid.
Tsaka ayun kasi, I believe din sa concept of relativism; there are no universal wrong or right, meaning every thought is valid on this. Pero ayun, while I’m doing the interview, may napansin akong dalawang perception or ideas natin sa word na “vulnerability”, there are people who are seeing “vulnerability” as weakness, and there are also people that are seeing it as being open and honest.
Either way, I’m not really here to convince y’all to pick a side, I’m here to tell you, na kahit magkakaiba pa ang tingin natin sa konsepto ng “vulnerability,” one thing is for sure, we have to embrace it, and we have to own it.
For me kasi, vulnerability is a healthy way of you being aware and open about yourself, your thoughts, your opinions, your insecurities, your truths, your flaws, and even your judgments. Parang I see it as you being open to the world, being humble, being open to constructive criticisms, being brave, and most of all, being authentic.
And ayun, bottling things all up in your head is not gonna help either, you have to vent it all out, whatever method you have, a friend, a random person, a tumblr account, a private twitter account that no one follows, screaming it sa lugar na walang tao, it’s very important to find a way to let it all out, kasi the more na tumatagal ‘yan sa isip mo, the more na maiipon at maiipon ‘yan, and like anything na napupuno, ay sumasabog and worse things might happen.
Pero ayun, while I’m writing this script, I did a self-analysis and asked myself, “ano nga ba yung negative key factors kung bakit nahihirapan akong i-embrace ang pagiging vulnerable?”
Until I came up with six (6) negative key factors, which are:
1. Shaming culture and stigmatization
Let’s talk about why’d I put “shaming culture and stigmatization” first, kasi ayun nga diba, nahihirapan tayong mag-open up to others, kasi we are very well aware of this concept, well, the twenty-two (22) of us in this room, at least. Kasi let’s be honest, you can’t just selectively numb emotion, when there’s vulnerability, there’s also fear, there’s also shame, all of that.
Natatakot tayong ma-perceived as weak, or even “attention-seeker”, lalo na sa social media, which is nagiging output nalang ng karamihan sa atin.
2. Self-doubt
Nakakatakot mga open-up honestly, kahit sa friends mo. Pero kahit natatakot ka pa sa indefinite number of people, walang tatalo sa sarili mo, and not in a good way. Sabi nga, “you are your worst enemy.” Kahit gaano mo pa gustuhing mag-vent out, somebody, deep deep down, is telling you to stop, and most of the time, there’s nothing you could do about it.
3. Scared of connection
Well, honestly, I found this one on the internet, but I heavily resonated with it, kasi totoo naman eh. Connection doesn’t necessarily mean “organization” or even “romantically”, it could also mean people you trust na nakakaintindi sa’yo and willing making sa’yo. The thing is, we’re scared of it, kasi mahirap magtiwala, mahirap na baka lang mag-backfire sa atin ‘yung mga sinasabi at shine-share natin, lalo na ‘yung mga personal and sensitive topics, which is very understandable.
4. Comparing yourself to others
Another one that’s stopping us, or maybe just me to open up and be honest is “comparison.” Well, not in a way of, like, competition. Pero hindi naman kasi talaga natin maiiwasan ‘yun, mahirap mag-open up sa iba kung sa tingin mong hindi talaga okay ‘yung situation mo, and alam mo sa sarili mo that you are able to do better.
5. Peer pressure
This one, I also found on the internet. And honestly, may point ‘to. Kasi not only our family, but our friends and the people around us, kahit sa social media, they always expect us to be perfect, to do no wrong, na lahat ng gagawin mo should be up to code. ‘Yung parang kapag may nagawa tayong iisang bagay na medyo mali, we’d be judged agad.
We’re scared kasi baka ayun ‘yung tumatak sa kanila, instead of the good ones. But the thing is, we’re human, kahit unintentionally, makakagawa at makakagawa talaga tayo ng mistakes, kasi without that, hindi tayo magkakaroon ng character development.
6. Hard time accepting constructive criticism
Actually, last minute addition ‘to, while I’m writing my script. Napaisip ako bigla kasi naging struggle ko rin ‘to noon. Totoo eh, mahirap talagang maging vulnerable lalo na’t kapag aware, yet in denial pa tayo sa mga negative traits natin as a person, and we’re scared of being “called out” kasi hindi pa talaga tayo ready na tanggapin ‘yun at magbago for the better.
Pero ayun, despite of the negative key factors that are pushing us to avoid being vulnerable. It’s not all bad. One thing I learned in life is to always try to look on the good side of things, kasi everything is a double-edged sword, lahat ng bagay, even decisions, magkakaroon talaga ng negative and positive impact sa atin. Pero if we tried to be more optimist than a pessimist, makikita nating the good always outweighs the bad.
So ayun, I tried to be an optimist again, and I came up with not just six (6), but nine (9) positive key factors for us to embrace vulnerability, which are:
1. Honesty
Siguro I’m just generalizing, pero honesty, for me at least, is where you know yourself, you know your worth, you know how your mind works, you know your imperfections and insecurities, and you’re not afraid to show it. Parang if somebody asked you something, you’re always ready to speak, kasi you know that you have nothing to hide, and you know damn well, that you are the best version of yourself.
2. Self-acceptance
As a member of the plus-size community, this is my biggest struggle in life. It’s really hard to love your flaws when it’s easily seen by anybody. Pero ayun nga, overtime, matututunan mo rin talagang ma-appreciate ‘yung sarili mo, if other people love and support you for who you are, why shouldn’t you, right?
3. Sense of empowerment
I don’t know about you, pero if you are being open, parang in a sense, you’re feeling empowered, kasi hindi ka lang sa ibang tao nagiging honest, kung ‘di sa sarili mo rin. Parang alam mo sa sarili mong you have your own choices, own thoughts, and own actions. The outside world does not dictate your inner peace, but you do, and for me, that’s very empowering!
4. Self-validation
Let’s be honest, in this society, we sure love being accepted and loved, ‘diba? There even are times that we love hearing compliments, lalo na kapag we are under attacked by our own personal demons, wala eh, if we are feeling down, it’s nice to hear that somebody cares about you and even believes in you. Pero ang pinaka-mahirap talagang ma-attain is ‘yung self-validation eh, lalo na if you don’t believe in yourself and your own capabilities.
Pero, I think, if you’re already honest enough, aware of your own weaknesses and insecurities and already accepted yourself for who you are, and changed for the better, self-validation will come unexpectedly, parang magigising ka nalang bigla, feeling great, and somehow emotionally satisfied.
5. Sense of personality
I struggled with this in the past. Kasi, back then, I really have no idea about myself, kaya ayun, minsan naa-adapt ko nalang ‘yung mga routines ng friends ko, also doing what they love to do, agree on their opinions, listen to their favorite music, watch their favorite series, kasi I desperately want to belong in that circle, in that community, kaya siguro parang nagging defense mechanism ko na ‘yung pag-label sa sarili ko as “basic” or “shallow”, kasi nga I really have no idea about who am I as a person.
Until one time, I’ve had enough and naisip kong “I want to have an identity.” I want to have my own choices, my own opinions, I want to stand up for something that I really believe in, I want to discover things that I really want to do, I want to have my own taste in music and TV shows, hindi lang ‘yung laging popular option. So ayun, I kinda went off-grid for months, kasi I tried exploring, I tried doing new things every week, but I also went back and explored some my old hobbies, until parang over time, nagkakaroon at nagkakaroon ako ng idea about myself, hindi pa man totally, I can confidently say that I am a person na hindi na nagrerely sa opinions ng iba, I know myself, I am honest, but still kinda insecure, but I am me, and I learned to love me.
6. State of equanimity
Equanimity, defined by the dictionary as “state of mental calmness, stability and composure, despite of being under stress.” I feel like, the more you embrace yourself, it gives us more reason to be calmer, kasi nawawala ‘yung mga nambabagabag sa isipan natin, nababawasan na ‘yung chances nating magkaroon ng anxiety, mas nababawasan ‘yung chance na magkaroon tayo ng self-doubt, kasi hindi ka na masyadong nagpapa-apekto sa pressure ng environment. You finally learned to get things done at your own pace.
Parang kumbaga sabi sa Taoism practice, you already have found your path to inner peace and harmony, depende nalang talaga sa’yo if you really want to go straight to that path or keep on making stop overs, It doesn’t matter.
7. Opportunity for growth
Alam naman na siguro ng lahat ‘to. Pero ayun, the more you know yourself and the more that you’re aware of your own imperfections, the more you’ll realize that you’re growing, emotionally. You’ll be making lesser mistakes, you’ll be having a wider perception in life, you’ll finally learn to understand other people and finally, you’ll be doing a Marie Kondo and only keep anything that sparks joy in your life, and someday, masasabi mo na sa sarili mong “this is ‘THAT’ character development.”
8. Ability to take risks
Honestly, nahihirapan akong i-explain ‘to in words, pero alam mo ‘yung kapag you’re feeling empowered, the more na mas nagiging brave and confident ka? Parang you’ll care less about the consequences, kasi you know that you’re not doing it for anybody, but only for yourself, your curiosity, and your inner peace. Magiging mantra mo na talaga ‘yung “you’ll never know unless you try, and whatever the consequences are, what matters in the end is you tried.”
9. Being more open to affection
Hanggang ngayon kasi, naniniwala pa rin ako sa thought na “you’ll never learn to love others, until you learn to love yourself.” And ayun, until you’re aware of your own self, your needs, your limitations, your current mindset, your capabilities, your strengths and your weaknesses, tsaka ka magiging ready to love a person na ia-appreciate ka for who you are at pupunuin ‘yung mga pagkukulang mo, and vise versa, after all, it’s a two-way relationship.
Realization
Ayun, ‘diba na-o-outweigh parin talaga ng good factors ang bad factors? Pero don’t get me twisted ha, I’m not forcing you to do anything, my only point here is for you to, maybe, find the time to embrace your own vulnerabilities, kasi character development takes time naman, and that “time” really depends on you, and how you work with yourself.
Kasi honestly, if you embrace that side of you, the more you’ll realize your own capabilities, your own strengths, your weaknesses, your freedom, your choices, and finally, your own worth.
I hope you all learned something kahit papano, because I sure did habang nagsusulat ako ng script for this talk. Thank you so much!

Always data Direct Bug Bounty Program
About alwaysdata
alwaysdata and its subsidiaries constitute a hosting provider that offer a PaaS solution for everyone since 2006, but is particularly focused on developers everyday-use.
alwaysdata platform is designed to host hundreds of accounts on each server. Each account get a full access to all wanted interpreters, various databases, email accounts, brokers1), backups, various remote access, an API to control settings, etc. Each account can host as many websites as wanted.
Program Rules
We believe that no technology is perfect and that working with skilled security researchers is crucial to identify weaknesses in our technology. If you believe you’ve found a security bug in our service, we are happy to work with you to resolve the issue promptly and ensure you are fairly rewarded for your discovery.
Let us know as soon as possible upon discovery of a potential security issue, and we’ll make every effort to quickly resolve the issue. Provide us a reasonable amount of time to resolve the issue before any disclosure to the public or a third-party.
Test vulnerabilities only against accounts that you own or accounts that you have permission from the account holder to test against.
Never use a finding to compromise/ex-filtrate data or pivot to other systems. Use a proof of concept only to demonstrate an issue.
If sensitive information — such as personal information, credentials, etc. — is accessed as part of a vulnerability, it must not be saved, stored, transferred, or otherwise accessed after initial discovery. All sensitive information must be returned to alwaysdataand any copies of such information must not be retained.
Any type of denial of service (DDoS) attacks is strictly prohibited, as well as any interference with network equipment and alwaysdata infrastructure.
Do not try to over exploit the bug and access internal data for further vulnerabilities. We will determine the severity and reward accordingly.
If you find the same vulnerability several times, please create only one report and eventually use comments. You’ll be rewarded accordingly to your findings.
Violation of any of these rules can result in ineligibility for a bounty and/or removal from the program.
Legal considerations
We will not pursue civil action or initiate a complaint to law enforcement for accidental, good faith violations of this policy. We consider activities conducted consistent with this policy to constitute “authorized” conduct. We will not bring a claim against you for circumventing the technological measures we have used to protect the applications in scope of this program.
If legal action is initiated by a third party against you and you have complied with this security policy, we will take steps to make it known that your actions were conducted in compliance with this policy.
It is also important to note, we will not take legal action against you simply for providing us with a proof of concept of the security vulnerability. Please follow the guidelines listed in the Proof of concepts section below to ensure that your proof of concept is detailed enough to demonstrate the issue and still follows the guideline listed above.
Scope and Testing

Vulnerabilities reported on other services or applications are not allowed.
Provide your IP address in the bug report. We will keep this data private and only use it to review logs related to your testing activity.
Include a custom HTTP header in all your traffic. Burp and other proxies allow the easy automatic addition of headers to all outbound requests. Report to us what header you set so we can identify it easily. For instance:
A header that includes your username: X-Bug-Bounty:Hacker-[accountid]
A header that includes a unique or identifiable flag X-Bug-Bounty:ID-[sha256-flag]
When testing for a bug, please also keep in mind:
Use test accounts so as not to inadvertently compromise the privacy of our users.
When attempting to demonstrate root permissions with the following primitives in a vulnerable process please use the following commands:
Read: cat /proc/1/maps
Write: touch /root/<accountid>
Execute: id, hostname, pwd2)
Minimize the mayhem. Adhere to program rules at all times. Do not use automated scanners/tools — these tools include payloads that could trigger state changes or damage production systems and/or data.

BLOG#32: July 21, 2018
Fuck. Yes. That word is stuck in my head all day. I have 10am class but I went somewhere first to buy my costume although it was raining really hard puta tapos 9:30 na pauwi pa lang ako kingina sa kamamadali ko naiwan ko salamin ko sa bahay tas late pala ng 30 mins yung prof ko ughhh pero nakapasa naman ako sa prelim sa major hehe. I'm glad this day is not as bad as I thought it's gonna be. Maybe because Anne joined us although she's not part of our group. I brought them all to my house so we can start making our props for the upcoming play next week. Anne helped Wendell and Kenneth to make their hats while Jeff and Joner were thinking about the concept. Joy was busy too because she's doing the armor thing for the guys. I start writing the script for our play and it's kinda cool kasi lahat nakikipagcooperate ano aarte pa ba anim na nga lang kami sa isang group. There was a change of casting, si Wendell na partner ko which is good kasi at least di na ko maiilang??? Haha. Dapat talaga pupunta kami National Museum kasama tropa nagtampo nga si Denver kanina kasi di kami makakasama dahil gagawa kami props. I thought Anne is going with them dahil nandun naman si Ash at Georgie kaya medyo shookt ako nung samin siya sumama. I had fun with them. Jeff and Wendell took a nap and they even said ang sarap daw matulog samin hahaha the guys leave around 5pm but Joy and Anne stay a little longer so we can talk about...you know, girly things. I realized how much I love spending time with them. I'm probably watching a movie right now if I'm not tired as fuck.

(Imagen: Logo 'Opel' aniversario)

New Post has been published on https://usviraltrends.com/russias-rt-faces-7-new-investigations-in-uk/
Russia's RT faces 7 new investigations in UK
The United Kingdom is launching seven new investigations into Russia’s state-controlled TV channel, RT.
UK broadcasting regulator Ofcom said on Wednesday it had concerns about potentially unbalanced coverage on RT’s news and current affair shows.
Ofcom said it had received complaints about RT content in the wake of a nerve agent attack on former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal in March in the British city of Salisbury.
“We have observed a significant increase in the number of programs on the RT service that warrant investigation,” it said in a statement.
The regulator warned last month that it was considering whether RT was “fit and proper” to hold a broadcast license following the Salisbury incident.
Ofcom has the power to impose fines or revoke RT’s license if it finds that the channel broke broadcasting standards on impartiality and fairness.
Britain has accused Russia of attempting to murder Skripal and his daughter. Russia has repeatedly denied involvement in the attack, seeking to blame Britain instead.
An Ofcom official told CNN it also has concerns about RT’s coverage of recent events in Syria.
Ofcom added that RT’s record on UK broadcasting rules was not notably worse than other broadcasters.
“We are pleased to see that Ofcom has acknowledged RT’s compliance record has been in line with other broadcasters — putting to bed any of the salacious political statements and challenges made against our channel,” RT said in a statement.
“Our editorial approach has not changed since the events in Salisbury, and we will be directly addressing this matter with the regulator,” it added.

RT’s UK broadcast licenses were granted to ANO TV Novosti, which is financed and controlled by the Russian government.
When Ofcom first said it was reviewing the license in the wake of the Salisbury attack, RT accused the regulator of “doing away with any concept of press freedom in the UK.”
Moscow responded by threatening to ban all British media from Russia if RT was pulled off the airwaves.

Ofcom noted that it had previously found some serious problems with RT coverage in 2014 related to Ukraine and Syria.
“Where RT’s compliance function has failed previously, it has tended to be in matters relating to Russia’s foreign policy,” it said.

50% off #Unity 5 Professional Guide – Develop a 2D Arkanoid Game! – $10
Think, Understand and Develop a 2D game from scratch on Unity 5. Learn about Transformations, Physics, UI and much more!
Intermediate Level,  –   Video: 4 hours,  23 lectures
Average rating 4.6/5 (4.6)
Course requirements:
A basic knowledge of C#; A basic knowledge of Unity3D; A copy of Unity 5.x installed (don’t worry, it’s free!)
Course description:
In this course you’ll think, understand and implement a complete working game on Unity3D. This course is designed for those who have at least a basic knowledge of C#, as we won’t go through defining each feature of the language. Also, it would be good if you were comfortable with the Unity 5.x interface. If you’re not familiar with these two items, you better off with my first course, which will teach you C# and Unity.
Everything that was used throughout the course (including scripts and the working project) is included as a resource on lecture #2, so I got you covered!
The course starts by giving an introduction of how the game works and what kinds of systems we’ll have to implement to make it work flawlessly, which should take around 4 hours.
If you’re tired of code-alongs with no explanation whatsoever, this is the course for you, as I actually teach and explain every single line I’m writing. I’ll also explain all the decisions that were made to make the game work as it is, so you can be assured you’ll have the best game development instructor you could ask for.
Full details Master a set of Unity functions that will allow you to create your own games; Break down a huge problem (a game) into a set of smaller steps to be solved one at a time; Determine the more efficient and friendly approach to solve a problem. If you are familiar with C# and have at least a basic knowledge of how coding works, you’re good! If you don’t know how to use Unity nor what a script is, you better start with my other course instead.
Reviews:
“Good course that covers the basics. Good use of diagrams and explanations of concepts and equations before implementing in code.” (Stephen McIntyre)
“This is by far the best course I’ve seen so far on Udemy. The author explains everything in detail and keeps the videos short so you are not overwhelmed by code and information. I can absolutely recommend this course – it’s the perfect start to learn Unity3D and C#. Good work man!” (Richard Edvard)
“Excellent instructor. He explains the reasons for his code, including diagrams. I have been learning from a variety of courses and this one has very clear step-by-step information.” (Jim Bateman)

My teaching methods are simple, though highly effective. In 2015, I developed the main gameplay systems for the first Angry Birds Virtual Reality Experience ever produced for Rock in Rio Las Vegas. Imgnation Studios (where I work at) partnered with Rovio to develop this title. A couple of months later, I had great contribution on the development of Angry Birds Space, a game made in partnership with Rovio and NASA to celebrate New Horizons pass-by Pluto.
