maybe i'm just greek but it's so weird to me when people get so upset over the ACCENTS in shows being transferred from broadway to the west end or to australia changing like ???? literally who fucking cares it's the same music and the same words these are just people's accents people have different accents in real life outside of having to fake them for theatre sorry <3

#i forget if i said but Baby Sister and i stopped off at ikea on the way back from picking her up at the bus stop on monday #and finally replaced the ruined-by-a-succession-of-cats-(in-ways-both-unsightly-and-gross) Accent Chair in the living room #with a poäng rocker (bc the shape is a little more interesting and less instantly recognizable than the regular chair) in birch (my beloved #also they make fancy tufted cushions for it now! wish they came in more colors but it's a real improvement on sad options past #and anyway it's like. now you can actually sit here in the morning and look out the window at the extremely beautiful view #and the chair actually supports you??? like i could see down the road trying to work out some kind of custom cushioning that's thicker #but the shape of the frame is so ergonomic for me that it's genuinely quite comfortable regardless. bentwood exocorset…#anyway. not a very original post but i just DO really love ikea #like yes it's a mixed bag but also honestly if you're buying particle board—#(i was going to say 'and expecting it to hold up' but. honestly i think it's just. if you're buying particle board period)#—that might be on you.#(like. if you're being pressed in from all sides by budget constraints and immediate need and no accessible better-made used alternatives—#obviously you do what you have to. but it's like buying pleather—you know‚ or should‚ that the material is going to disintegrate.)#but the things ikea makes with decent materials are remarkably well-designed and affordable for what they are‚ has been my sense?#you just gotta shop carefully but like. that's true literally everywhere.#anyway. in conclusion i love my new buddy with its clean lines. …do people name chairs ever.#i've never before had the urge but this one feels like a little assembly-line friend that deserves its own identity. like a star wars clone #(lol what if i gave it a little nametag somewhere hidden. secret identity talisman 4 chairpal.)#(& yes i promise i'm as aware of the‚ uh‚ itself-ness of this tag spiral as you are. :) )#domesticities

this is very random but i'm rereading to prep for the next update, and i can't stop hearing Merry's voice as f!Eivor in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla 😩

you know, i used to say i imagined Merry with an irish accent, but i've actually been considering changing it recently. i feel like the fast sing-song of the cork accent doesn't fit her anymore, and i hear her having a much slower and deliberate cadence instead. and especially since Clem and Noel both also have very sing-songy accents, it's hard to describe them without it being confusing.

obviously i never really describe her accent in game - again, i think it would be confusing trying to describe it alongside Clem's and Noel's, and i also like leaving the Gaelish accent up for interpretation for the player. all of that to say.... the most important feature of Merry's voice is that she has an incredible rasp (i described it akin to carrie fisher's before) and eivor definitely fits in that regard :-)

I've been listening to Irish accents for weeks to try and decide EXACTLY where Casey and his family are from, but through it all, in my heart, he was from County Kerry. So now he has a Kerry accent. And if you know why that's so significant for a man that's so eloquently spoken, don't spoil it for anyone else.

Not me being way too excited anything happens in Boston/New England in these books, literally I know we’re on the wrong side here but I Don’t Care

#like that is MY old ironsides that is MY charlestown navy yard #that is MY beacon hill and MY cambridge and MY weird new england accents #don't talk to me i am feeling Emotions™#also i gotta say. i have understood the war of 1812 far better from reading these books than anything they taught us in history class #it just doesn't really click when you're in a high school classroom and they're like the british navy was pressing american sailors #i think it's just really hard for us to understand how close the us and britain were (culturally/socially/etc) at that time #and also how war worked in the age of sail but yeah i mean that's an obvious thing you learn from Boat Books #anyhow i'm just reading these and jack is like in a horrible state and i'm just like okay but mr o'brian is mentioning places i know #yeah characters are cool but charlestown is cooler :p #jkjk i don't think charlestown's even showed up yet lol #perce rambles #aubreyad #also i'm not sure how herapath will turn out but i am vibing with him on account of He's From Boston (and also likes languages)#yes stephen is my emotional support blorbo but herapath is my emotional support bostonian (/cantabridgian)#apologies for this appearing in the tag but i have to protect my followers who don't want to see aubreyad content
