Gladly. Get ready for an Info Dump
So the general info is hes an oc I made in like 2015 2009-2010 and he's just been in the background up until I revised him like a year or two ago for a story between my best friend and I. His name is Bing bc it was supposed to match the names of Ding/Zing but I kinda model him off Bing Crosby anyway so I'm not changing it. His theme is meant to revolve all around the atomic era/nuclear science - so his sigil is reminiscent of a mushroom cloud, I've drawn him with sunflowers (sunflowers can absorb radioactive material like cesium from dirt) but anyway onto the actual story Basically he's an active scoundrel during Las Vegas's heydays during the atomic era (i.e when they were detonating nuclear bombs for testing and people were watching them from afar like fireworks.) so around 1940-1950 he's an adult. Bing is very much like a used car salesman - he'll go to any length to convince someone to buy something they don't need and is usually successful at doing it. So he made stupid amounts of money selling people radiation cures like iodine pills (which were really just sugar pills) and things like that. He had a 'wife' (in quotes because they were unable to get married due to segregation laws, they still got unofficially 'married' anyway and had a kid.) Long story short he gets involved with the mafia, he flies too close to the sun with his ego and gets in trouble with them, and ends up getting sacked because of it. His wife ends up going into squalor because she didn't have any legal right to his property and he was the (major) breadwinner so as a result within his family there's a sort of disdain because he kinda flung them all into poverty bc he wasn't thinking about the consequences of his actions. He becomes a god via reasons I have yet to address. He says he's the god of war but really he's just conniving and his powers relate to convincing people. The ongoing story now is his granddaughter somehow finds a way to summon him/cross paths with him and they're both unaware they're related. It takes a while for it to hit him that she's his granddaughter and after that point its basically him learning what happened to his family after he died and humbles him (a little, he's still a dick all things considered)

It was a nasty thing. A shotgun blast taken to the stomach. Nothing clean about it. A mottling of blackened blood and mangled tissue by the time Tommy dragged Joel back to town. He was half-conscious, breath shallow, barely hanging on. Blood poured from his middle, past his hands as he applied agonizing pressure.
No one told Tess until the early morning when she awoke to find her bed still woefully empty. The sheets on Joel's side untouched. He was due back from patrol around four in the morning.
Something like anticipation twisted in her gut as she dressed quickly. Toeing on her boots, wrapping herself in a scarf and stepping out into the biting winter cold. Her feet crunched down the icy gravel of their drive, carrying her to the main gate where a young man stood sentry.
Arms crossed to ward off the cold, Tess called out to him; "Have Joel and Tommy come back yet?"
Her breath clouded in the air, eyes wet against the dryness.
The sentry stilled, gun slung across his chest. He thumbed the barrel nervously, eyes shifting.
"The infirmary," he said, finally.
"What?"
"They took him to the infirmary."
Tess paled, blanched, stomach pitching, "Took who?"
The sentry shrugged his narrow shoulders, "Dunno. It all happened so fast."
Tess said nothing else. She was already turning on her heel, rushing down the street towards the infirmary.
It could have been anything. A fall from a horse. A broken leg. A gunshot wound. Sudden illness. A myriad a things could take Joel and his brother to the makeshift hospital in the center of town. And, though her insides werena twist of dread and knowing, she told herself it might not be Joel at all.
Let it be Tommy , she thought, cruelly. Because she was selfish. Because she was a terrible person and things were finally starting to go right for she and Joel. They had a home. A couple of horses. A daily routine. They made love almost every night; or fucked, elsewise. And Joel may not have known it yet, but Tess took the test the previous morning and she was three months along.
So let it be Tommy who took the fall. Joel was too precious. Too important to lose. He had too much to live for in this new little niche they had dug out for themselves. And, ultimately, Tess could not picture herself enduring without him. Her man. Husband. Lover.
So she prayed that Tommy fell from a horse, or broke his leg, or got shot, or fell ill. She prayed that those things happened to anyone, any member of their budding community. Anyone but Joel.
She reached the infirmary, pushing through the doors to find a flurry of activity within. A few medics passed her by, ignoring her outright in their frenzy. Maria was there. The blonde woman standing with her arms crossed beside a thin blue curtain, on the other side of which Tess assumed there was a hospital bed.
The wet, heavy scent of blood was gathered in the air, accompanied by the sharp chemical spike of iodine and the musk of gunpowder. Her stomach flipped. She felt ill.
She could hear Tommy's low voice speaking softly, though it was too distant to hear. Maria's lips were pursed, expression grim, nodding slightly until she noticed Tess standing in the doorway, a gust of icy air heralding her arrival.
Her eyes widened, something like panic flashed behind her clear gaze before she resumed her cool, collected mask.
The medics reconvened behind the curtain, their shadows looming over something, someone.
"Tess," Maria crossed the tiled floor.
"What's going on?" Tess asked, a twinge of urgency biting into her tone.
Maria pursed her lips again, and, uncharacteristically, extended a hand to touch Tess on the shoulder.
So it was Joel.
Tess still waited for verbal confirmation before falling into despair.
"Tommy and Joel were tracking a group of unknowns in the area," Maria explained plainly. Holding nothing back because she knew Tess could take it. "They were ambushed. Joel took a shotgun blast to the abdomen."
It hit her like a ton of bricks. The shock of it. Even though she had known from the moment she found his side of the bed cold and untouched?
"Why didn't someone come and get me?" Tess said, voice flat, tone unreadable even as a fire ignited behind her hazel irises.
Maria paused, only for a moment, but long enough for Tess to understand. They had been waiting to see whether Joel would live or die.
She blinked. There were no words. The air had been sucked from her lungs. Her fingertips tingled. Was he-?
"He's alive," Maria gave her shoulder a squeeze. "They managed to remove most of the buckshot. Now it's up to him."
Tess didn't wait for anymore hollow words from Maria. She shoved unceremoniously past the woman, past Tommy who now loitered uncertainly at the edge of the curtain.
Joel was laid out on a bed, hands at his sides. The sheets stained bright red. He was stripped from the waist up, strong body tinted pink and yellow and pale like the edges of rendered flesh. His midsection was wrapped tight in a bandage of gauze, blood bloomed in a dark shadow beneath it. His chest was rising in slow, sporadic movements, and his eyes were shut, chapped lips slightly parted.
Tess stilled, staring for a long, horrible moment.
In all their years they had each had their fair share of wounds and hurts, always tended by gentle hands. But never anything like this. This was a would of a whole new caliber. Gentle hands would do nothing here. A needle and thread would serve no purpose in the face of such a greavious sunder.
Wetting her lips, she stepped up beside the bed.
Tommy and Maria had stepped away, giving Tess some distance in what might have very well been her partner's final moments.
Tess ground her teeth, laced her fingers with his finding his skin cold. They had nearly robbed her of this; of her goodbye.
Only it couldn't be goodbye, not yet. Not now.
"Joel," she snapped, squeezing his hand. "Joel!"
He didn't react to the sound of her commanding voice. He remained limp, weak, bloody and prone.
Tess bit her lip, tasting blood, hands fisting at her sides. She didn't cry. She was beyond that, the agony of seeing her man in such a state was total and sublime. It wracked in her chest, bit from her toes to her scalp.
Tess knelt beside him, squeezing his hand in her own. She pressed her lips to his ear, lowering her voice so only the two of them could hear her words.
"Listen here, Tex. This isn't the end for you. It can't be." She squeezed his hand again. Now the tears brimmed in her eyes. Prickly and painful. "I'm pregnant."
Nothing.
"Fuck," Tess shook. "Fuck!"
"Theresa," Maria, who had stood aside patiently now stepped forward to intervene. "Tess-
"Get away from us," Tess snarled without looking away from Joel. She touched his forehead, his bearded cheek, his lips. "Just get away."
Maria retracted her hand, looming uncertainly beside the pair until Tommy took her by the wrist.
"Let 'em be," he cautioned.
Tess finally looked away from Joel, just long enough to watch Tommy lead Maria over to consult with the medics.
Tess stood, pulling the curtain around the foot of the bed, affording them some small privacy. Then she pulled up a chair beside the bed, catching her big hand in both of hers. She laced their fingers.
"Joel," she said again, softer this time. "Joel, baby, I'm here."
She pressed her lips to his fingertips, feather light.
"I'm here," she whispered again. She pressed her cheek to the mattress. Touched his lips, his cheek, his brow.
A tear streaked her cheek.
"Please, Joel, don't leave me."
Only it wasn't just 'me' anymore, she thought. A hand flew to her belly, still flat, but she felt in her heart that the little one was present.
"Don't leave us."
He stirred.
A sharp intake of air, chest heaving. The gauze was wet with blood now, so much of it. Dark crimson against the white of the bandage.
His hand flew from hers. Both of them meeting over his middle. Over the place which ailed him so acutely. His eyelids fluttered open and he choked on the air he sucked down, coughing, beads of blood forming on his lips.
Oh God help them, his wounds cut so deep.
Tess leaned forward, putting her body in his line of vision.
He blinked, stared, then, slowly, he smiled.
"Tessa," he croaked. "Tessa."
"I'm here," Tess breathed with momentary relief. "Joel, I'm here."
"I-
He coughed up more blood. It dribbled down his chin in dark red rivulets.
Tess winced, taking his bloody palm into her hands again. So this would be goodbye? It didn't feel final.
"I could hear ya," he managed, voice gravelly and weak. He was grinning, blood pooling in the cracks between his teeth. "I heard ya."
And he was reaching for her, groaning in agony as his wounds pulled. But he still reached out, catching her hips, pulling her close to he could press his face into her clothed belly.
Tess carded her fingers through his greying hair. He was murmuring into her abdomen, whispering to their baby. Perhaps the only time her little one would hear their father's low, rolling tones. She bit back a soft sob.
Would this be their farewell?
The joy of it; of budding motherhood, tasted of ash in her mouth; gunpowder, buckshot.
"Joel, lay down," she said, though she lacked her usual commanding tone. She wasn't commanding. She was begging.
He pulled his face back, pallid face split into a stupid wide smile, "I'll be a daddy again."
"Lay down," she pled.
He blinked at her, confusion flashing across his handsome features. Then he seemed to remember. He had been shot.
A medic rushed into the room, pushing past Tess. He examined the bloody bandage briefly then called out to his fellow medics.
"We need to rewrap this!"
Tess was shoved aside. Pushed past the curtain and out of the way.
The words hung unspoken on her lips; the last words she had wanted him to hear, never to be given breath.
I love you, Joel Miller.
She stepped back, giving a wide berth for the medics to work.
He might live yet. Maybe.
She approached Tommy, who watched her with wide, sad eyes.
"The guys who did this," she began, a new edge of purpose in her words. "They still with us?"
Tommy swallowed thickly, "They got away."
Tess's jaw flexed hands fisting at her sides. Anger flared like an inferno in her chest.
"Not for long."

i was just reading about the nevada test site and, being from southern california and north-central nevada, it was something that i always had knowledge of. i always knew it was there, everyone in carson city/reno knew it was there, i always knew that it... it is what it is (i mean, if the fact that nye county is literally the shape of a mushroom cloud doesn’t tip you off, i can’t help you). people flocked to vegas in the 50s just to see the clouds due north of the valley, for god’s sake. you know that stock footage that you see of the mushroom cloud going up and the house and the forest blowing over and then jerking back as the cloud rises? that’s from operation teapot. yucca flat is the most contaminated place in the continental u.s. from a radiological standpoint: it’s not chernobyl, for sure, but... you know. have lead linings, will travel.
but the one thing i cannot stop thinking about is the sheer amount of fallout from the blasts, specifically as it spread over to st. george in utah: by the way, i checked the map and sherman ranch is weirdly outside of the fallout zone. just for numbers’ sake: 1 rad is harmless (you might feel hot and see a blue light, but that’s about it) where 1000 rad is lethal. 100 - 200 rad is survivable: uintah county, home of sherman ranch, sustained less than 1 rad after the testing (and they’ve been witnessing paranormal activity since the 30s, before the manhattan project even got off the ground so-) but my point is that radioactivity is weirdly complex - just for perspective, it throws me sometimes, someone who’s intimate with nuclear science - especially when given the context of the rocky mountains, and especially when in junction with humanity and evolution. the type of fallout also needs to be accounted for as well, as most of the plutonium and uranium is centered in the ground at the test site: we’re talking iodine-131 and strontium-90, two isotopes that are not necessarily deadly, especially when you account for evolution and adaptation through generations.
i had a friend in high school who was born in blanding, on the eastern side of the state, a couple hundred miles from st. george, although she lived there for a long time. iirc, she was small in comparison to the rest of my friend group in my junior year of high school. what’s even more bizarre is i never really knew about it until after my graduation and i was stalking her page. i remember when the fukushima disaster happened and they were talking about iodine-131 flooding out from the reactor and how it could be potentially dangerous to those within the zone of the plant because we metabolize iodine through our thyroid gland (people who have thyroid issues often have iodized salt in their diets because of how it helps with that gland). i don’t remember kristen having thyroid issues but like i said, she was... small, about 5′ tall and 100 pounds soaking wet, and she was very thin (compared to me, 5′6″ and 165 pounds in my junior year when i met her, and i was relatively thin myself at the time). what makes strontium more sinister than iodine, in my humble more-or-less educated opinion, is it behaves like calcium and it’s absorbed into the bones: i saw her about a month ago before my facebook logout and she still looks very thin even though she’s 26 now. her hair’s different and she’s been wearing more eye makeup, but she still looks exactly the same as she did in 2009.
it’s disconcerting but it’s also interesting to think that you can come from a place with a high rate of horrible diseases - st. george and pretty much all of southern utah has an unsurprisingly massive cancer rate, especially of the thyroid, blood, and bone type - and yet somehow you can skip that and you can have a body that’s a lot stronger than it looks: she was a soccer player and she could run like it was nobody’s business. she looked frail but she was a firecracker, though.
when you read about this stuff, you almost immediately start deconstructing the fears around all things nuclear and you find out that said fear it mostly emanates from a lack of knowledge - just like everything else in existence. it’s not all gamma rays and glowing green: you have a whole set of units of measurement (with apologies to anyone tired of converting the american standards to the metric system). barrels of nuclear waste are nothing like the ones on the simpsons (if anything, they look like actual barrels, not like trash cans you see at the beach). some humans react to it better than others (marie curie’s notes are behind a 1-inch pane of glass lined with lead and yet she mostly walked out of the shed with nothing more than burns on her fingers, and she succumbed to anemia not radiation poisoning). if anything, it’s not green at all: the cherenkov effect is blue light, and radium glows a silvery-white.
when i was a freshman in high school, and i took earth science, my teacher brought in pitchblende, uranium ore: i’m not even kidding, it looked like just a regular old rock; little “bubbly” on top, but it looked like a rock straight out of her front yard. i remember she put a geiger counter next to it and it went off, it made that “staticky” noise (it wasn’t like crazy going off, but when you’re holding the counter yourself, it is... somewhat of a sobering moment to hear it). she put a piece of paper over it and the counter kept going; piece of tin foil and it stopped. i remember holding this thing, too: it was about the size of a deck of cards but it had some weight to it (uranium being a heavy metal among other things). it was one of those “oh my god, it’s real” moments, but it was cool, though: i actually held something that was radioactive in my bare hand. it wasn’t very radioactive - for perspective, she told us you could get more radiation from a microwave than you could that little stone but it made a geiger counter go off.
it makes me wonder like... what else the general public is refusing to learn, because this stuff is very fascinating, and it’s a lot closer to home than you think: in the nevada test site tag on here, i’ve come across a few accounts from people who have lived downwind from the site and it’s definitely sobering, especially when you realize that it’s literally right there, about four hours away from you (wind’s blowing the other way but still). on wikipedia, there’s a map of the fallout over the continental u.s. and while the west coast is pretty much spared, there’s this big plume extending from utah over to the plains states and into the great lakes - and yes, p r o f e s s o r, i checked all the links and the sources are credible. stop shaming people for using wikipedia, it’s a legit place to learn new things and fall down rabbit holes, and i think there should be no shame in using it. 
again, you have to take measurements and the isotope types into account, but even though the government has been opaque about all things nuclear, it is imperative that we teach ourselves about it as well. our government has sucked for decades and it’s more than okay to be afraid - hell, i can’t visit the chernobyl tag without seeing a fucking meme about the elephant’s foot and immediately get the heebie-jeebies WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE - but knowledge is power, though, and with said power, the fear loses its grip, and you can better understand these things.
madame curie herself said it is imperative that we look into these things headlong for that reason.
also, i didn’t know this: apparently, in 1970, at yucca flat, when they were testing a bomb 900 feet underground, it cracked the soil and collapsed and the bomb was a dud as a result. but. it instead caught fire (as plutonium is pyrophoric) and shot up a bunch of smoke and ash for several minutes. something like 80 workers were exposed: two of them died... a few years after the fact. but everyone walked away from it. but some of the lighter particles blew into the higher latitudes and wound up inside a cold front and dropped irradiated snow on lassen and sierra counties. it was called “baneberry” although i feel it should’ve been called “operation whoopsie” (plus, when you read about this stuff, your sense of humor is going to darken and twist itself a bit. in terms of sense of humor, you have proctologists at the very top and right behind them are anybody who studies the human reproductive system, i.e. urologists and gynecologists, and then behind them are nuclear scientists. this shit is complex and painfully misunderstood and abused: you’re not only going to expand your mind and understand einstein’s fears and oppenheimer’s sobering moments but you’re going to learn to genuinely laugh once in a while. i mean, the fact the states had two nuclear tests named “little feller” and “nougat”-)

* Primary tumors that metastasize to bone: prostate, thyroid, testes, breast, lung, kidney
Myxedema coma:
Hydrocortisone should be given until concomitant adrenal insufficiency has been ruled out as the addition of T4 in the setting of adrenal failure can precipitate adrenal crisis on top of myxedema as increasing the basal metabolic rate by the addition of thyroid hormone will increase the breakdown of cortisol. If the body cannot adequately replace cortisol due to adrenal insufficiency, the patient will ultimately deteriorate. This patient, therefore, should be given both IV levothyroxine and IV hydrocortisone at this time and be admitted to the medical intensive care unit for further monitoring. If the random cortisol is not extremely low, then it is not helpful in diagnosis, and a stimulation test must be performed. Until the stimulation test is negative, the patient should continue to receive IV hydrocortisone, at least 100mg every 8 hours.
Bipolar disorder tx: Major side effects of lithium include CNS depression, heart failure, arrhythmias, hypercalcemia, hypothyroidism, pseudotumor cerebri, diminished renal concentrating ability, and serotonin syndrome. Lithium can affect the fetus, causing cardiac malformations and should not be given to sexually active females of reproductive age without careful benefit/risk analysis. Lithium also has several drug interactions. Some examples of these interactions include with amphetamines, caffeine, calcium channel blockers, loop diuretics, NSAIDS, opioids, SSRI's, TCA's, Tramadol, and thiazide diuretics.
Remembering all of this may not be easy, but remembering four major contraindications and one relative contraindication may help, these include:
Severe cardiovascular disease Hypovolemia or dehydration (impairs lithium excretion) Sodium depletion (impairs lithium excretion) Chronic renal disease (impairs lithium excretion) Relatively contraindicated in pregnancy (causes Ebstein's anomaly)
If you can remember these things, it will help you remember which drugs and diseases can cause further complications. You will remember that thiazide and loop diuretics cause hypovolemia and/or sodium depletion. NSAIDs affect lithium binding and excretion due to renal and cellular effects. Calcium channel blockers affect lithium indirectly as lithium is a cation similar to calcium. Lithium can cause cardiac dysrhythmias including repolarization changes sinus node dysfunction. This is why lithium is contraindicated in severe cardiac disease.
Other things to remember include:
Lithium inhibits iodine coupling and can cause hypothyroidism and goiter Lithium can cause hypercalcemia and elevated PTH Lithium causes a tremor that is quite common, possibly due to accumulation in the substantia nigra Lithium causes cognitive changes and sexual dysfunction (most common reason for nonadherence)
The goal of the treatment of bipolar disorder is to treat both depression and mania without worsening one of the phases. Mood stabilizers are the best medications to treat bipolar disorder as they are able to treat at least one phase of bipolar disorder (mania or depression) without worsening the other. Mood stabilizers include Lithium, valproic acid, carbamazepine, lamotrigine, and antipsychotics. Examples of atypical antipsychotics are quetiapine, risperidone, and aripiprazole. Anti-depressants such as SSRIs are not mood stabilizers and should not be used alone as they can worsen mania. In fact, placing a depressed patient on an antidepressant and precipitating a manic episode is often a cause for a new bipolar diagnosis. To get this question correct you needed to realize that all of the above medications, including the antipsychotics and antiepileptics, can be used for bipolar disorder while avoiding the use of antidepressants. CBT can improve symptoms and help in long-term management but is generally not as helpful when patients are acutely manic and psychotic.
Overall, the choice of medication generally depends on the state of the patient. Patients with known bipolar disorder who are manic need mood stabilization and the treatment of choice for severe mania remains lithium or valproate, usually with antipsychotic medication. The ultimate choice depends on side-effects (history of sensitivity to extrapyramidal symptoms), the age and sex of the patient (in women who may become pregnant avoid valproate), and comorbid conditions (in obesity avoid olanzapine, risperidone, and quetiapine due to their tendency to worsen weight gain and lipids). Remember that patients with chronic renal disease will not excrete lithium well and that patients with severe liver disease will not metabolize valproate well. Individual therapy, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), can also be helpful in the treatment of bipolar disorder and should be added to standard medical therapy.
In patients with severe bipolar depression, an antidepressant can be used carefully with the addition of a mood stabilizer, often quetiapine, though usually quetiapine or lurasidone is effective alone.

(I'm sorry about the size of this ask, Panda, I guess I had more advice and info than I thought!!) okay, my experience with a boob job was this:
my details: one side, silicone implant, over the muscle, one incision scar on the underside of the breast, pale skin so scars aren't starkly visible (it's healed to a thin raised line about 2 inches long, but it was puffier when it was fresher), and (this is important for me to mention, because my experience does not reflect everyone else's, and you NEED to know the financial circumstances for this, because it influences quality) the surgery was performed by a professional who is successful in her field. (I was also lucky that medical insurance helped pay for the cost, since my parents and I successfully billed the surgery under 'medically necessary for improvement of mental health.' Which is true, it was necessary, and has tangibly made a positive difference in my life, but I've seen insurance companies reject legit claims for less, so I'm still amazed that it was approved.) Breast augmentation or reconstructive surgery is not cheap--and if it is, then *you don't want it* (it doesn't just indicate lesser quality, but it might not be safe). If you can minimize the risk of dying for an elective surgery (all surgeries technically have a risk of fatality), do it, perfect boobs are not worth dying for. Breast surgery from a professional with great reviews (especially in America with its """lovely""" medical pricing system) is especially not cheap.
ANYWAY, all disclaimers aside, onto the more fun, informational details:
As I'm sure most of us breasted-folks know, naturally perfectly-symmetrical breasts are rare, so a slight difference in size is normal. But for me, my boobs were a 34D and a 34A (pre-surgery), so the difference was extremely noticeable.
Options for implants are silicone or saline--people usually go with silicone (and those implants are strong--my surgeon said that implants are tested for durability, and "they can withstand being run over by a truck." So if they're well-made, medical-grade silicone, then they're not going to pop like that Mobster's wife's did in Orange is the New Black, don't worry ;) ).
The procedure takes 1 day, you can recover at home, and you don't need to stay at the hospital overnight (sidenote: when you wake up from the anesthetic, you will feel cold--just a headsup so you're not surprised when you wake up shivering). --You cannot wear a bra (at ALL) while the boob(s) heals. --You MUST sleep only on your back for several days (at least a week, I think--your doctor will tell you these details). --Wear really loose shirts, or shirts that open/ close in the front. (wear clothes that are really easy to change in and out of.) --Obviously no extreme or rigorous physical activity while you recover. --There are at least 2 recovery exercises that I remember: massaging the breast (see explanation below under 'Cons'), and holding and breathing long breaths to stretch your chest muscles (you're trying to prevent your body from healing too 'tightly,' if that makes sense). --You also can't shower or bathe for a couple days afterwards (and yes, you'll probably have orange-yellow iodine stains on your skin for a little bit)--you may be permitted to carefully wash the adhesive (from the bandage covering the gauze covering your stitches) off of your skin, but only if it's not close to the healing incision, and only in small areas, using a washcloth. --Take your painkillers on time (WITH food), as well as any other medications prescribed by your surgeon. (Possibly anti-bacterials? Or a probiotic? I forget, it's been nearly 10 years for me--the point is to prevent infection.) Recovery time minimum is 2 weeks. You will need to schedule follow-up appointments at 6 months and 1 year post-surgery for your surgeon to monitor your progress.
Pros: --confidence-booster and anxiety-reliever (between bending over in shirts, and changing for gym class, trying to make sure that no one could tell that I was wearing bra inserts made High School a nightmare. It also affected my dating life as a teen because...what if he tries to get to first base, y'know? And it contributes to feeling undesirable and unattractive, etc.) --more clothing options (you have way more options when you're not worried about your inserts falling out, and you're no longer insecure about showing off your chest in general) --if your surgeon is good, and you heal correctly, then you'll also get a fantastic-looking breast/ pair of boobs!
Neutrals: --there is no guarantee that getting a boob job will prevent you from breast-feeding someday (as my surgeon reassured me). There are lots of women/ AFAB people who have never had surgery and still struggle to produce milk or successfully breastfeed. The placement of the insert should not interfere with the milk ducts, so that should be fine.
Cons/ possible risks: --capsular contraction. This is when the 'capsule' (surgically-created pocket that holds the implant) suddenly, well, contracts, and tightens around the implant. This is painful and also puts pressure on the implant, and (depending on what kind of implant you got) could even rupture the implant (can they withstand being run over by a 2-ton vehicle? sure. But constant continuous pressure on all sides is different.) However, you can avoid this by doing your recovery exercises. You need to massage your breast, for (I forget how many) minutes to make sure that the 'pocket' that holds your implant heals correctly (i.e., it heals with enough room for the implant to move around). How to do exercise (yes I'm giving instructions, I didn't do it right the first time and it hurt as a result): You need to press down until you can feel the implant 'move' under your palm, then using that pressure, slowly move the implant in a circle/ donut shape. Keep your palm flat and don't 'rotate' it; let the implant move as you move pressure from the heel of your hand, to the side, to your fingertips, to your thumb. Another exercise is squishing down the base of the breast with the palm of your hand, forcing the implant 'up.' --enlarged breasts (even artificially) still come with the same problems that naturally-occurring large breasts do (back pain kids, I'm talking about back pain). Just remember, there's no shame in resting them on a table, to give your back a rest ;D --stretch marks and scarring: there should be at least one scar where the surgeon made an incision, and sutured (sewed) it shut when they were done (these used to be made of thread that would need to be taken out, but within the last couple decades or so, they've used sutures that dissolve as the body heals, so you don't need to worry about that anymore). Stretch marks: depending on what size your breast(s) was before surgery, the skin will either need to stretch a little or a lottle; mine was the latter, which is why I have a sunburst pattern of stretch marks radiating from my Enhanced boob's nipple. If you're pale, then stretch marks will be red, then purple, then eventually fade into pale white (but extra shiny compared to the skin around it), and won't be noticeable up close (unless you know what to look for). Cocoa butter is AMAZING at helping moisturize and condition your skin; it can't remove stretch marks, but it can help them heal faster, and (if applied early) can prevent further stretching (damage). Bonus: **Warning signs for developing stretch-marks (I got them thanks to surgery and health-related weight-gain, and they're permanent, so I'm imparting this wisdom onto you guys so that you don't have to get them too): a sharp, sometimes-burning, aching or 'panging' sensation at certain parts of your skin (flanks, hips, sides, stomach, armpits, thighs, literally anywhere is possible, but usually focused on the more 'squishy' areas), but the skin just feels mildly warmer to the touch. Can be mistaken for cramps. When you feel this, then--once you're able to do so--take a small amount of cocoa butter (you don't need to slather it on, trust me, it just wastes it) and smooth it over the affected area, as well as the skin surrounding it. (Note: wet the area first, then apply cocoa butter; the water helps to spread it without putting unnecessary stress on your skin.) Then take a paper towel and cover the moisturized area, so that the cocoa butter doesn't rub off on your clothes. Once it's absorbed, rub off (do NOT clean with soap) the excess residue from your skin. Repeat the process over until you don't feel the pains anymore. You may develop stretch marks anyway, but trust me, they will be smaller and shallower than they would have been if you'd done nothing.
Overall outcome of surgery: 10 years later, no regrets. (lol, aside from my pesky stretchmarks of course *shakes fist*) Current cup size: symmetrical 34DD (yes they both continued to expand post-surgery). If you're considering it, take the time and think it over thoroughly. Make sure that it's something that you absolutely want (and will continue to want) first. If it's something you truly want (and it's not tied to your self-esteem or to a deeper underlying issue), then you should feel satisfied when it's over. Once they're healed, take care of them. (Pretend that you took the immortality potion from Death Becomes Her: "take care of your body, you and it are going to be together for a very long time.") Make sure that you have at least 1 bra that fits and supports you (my surgeon said that there should be 3 hooks in the back, and the base in front separating the cups should lie flat against your skin) and is comfortable (I recommend bras with a little padding around the underwire--soooo comfy), and sleep with a sports-bra at night (yes, even when you're sleeping, your boobs need support). The sports-bra doesn't have to be tight or restricting, it just has to stop your boobs from flopping around. (Honestly, even if you don't have surgery, I recommend that you do this anyway; I have sensory issues with things on my skin so trust me, when I say that sleeping with a wireless sportsbra isn't restrictive or stifling, I mean it. I could explain more about how sleeping with a bra makes a visible difference, but this is already so long already, so please just trust me when I say that I have 1 breast that spent 10 years in a bra at night, and despite its size and weight remains fairly perky, and 1 breast of the same size that spent 8 years getting no support at night (then 10 years with support), and looks like a half-deflated balloon.)
