How to survive biology (from a biology nerd who does this to relax)
Sticky strips over the lables on diagrams. You could also use a PowerPoint and put squares over the lables and use animations to remove them if you prefer digital based.
Turn your diagrams into puzzles. This sounds weird but you can draw, or print off really big versions of your diagrams and cut out each aspect of the diagram and then yu re-assemble it. Just wip out the envelope of pieces from that chapter's poly pocket and go!!!
YouTube vidoes, eg. Biology bugbears or the studyclix biology boost playlist
Leaving Cert Biology podcast (this is the only podcast that I've ever been able to listen to because ADHD but she keeps the pace just right so that I can listen to it while multitasking.)
Make your notes AFTER you go through the topics. Do not make them as you go, it makes it so much more confusing and you need to structure them properly
Silly sentences and pneumonics, from "I Passed My Algebra Test" for mitosis to "Sophie Makes Chopped Potatoes Carefully" for the most common elements of food. It's so quick and you can just recite them whenever until they're ingrained like a nursery rhyme
Studyclix quizzes!!! These quizzes break everything down into small little pieces and makes everything so easy to learn from and for all of you lovely ADHDers, each time that you get a question right there's a special sound and when you get 5 or a multiple of 5 right in a row, a congratulations image comes up!!! DOPAMINE!!!
Flashcards, flashcards and... MORE FLASHCARDS!!! It is the easiest way to do active recall and biology is HUGE for memorisation, so you need to be able to list of those definitions, functions, processes and organs. Also, flashcards are an ADHDers best friend
Make your notes and diagrams CLEAR!!! Don't make it harder on yourself from trying to learn from cramped notes and diagrams that are hard to read. Draw lines from each part you're labeling and write the name OUTSIDE of the diagram.

Player: —Wait, are you now saying that there is evolution in D&D?
DM: Yes?
Player: NO.
DM: Why not—
Player: Because!! I don't want to have to think about the evolutionary path of centaurs, okay!? I don't want to have to think about how that happened. I don't want to imagine... Like... Top half is Australopithecus and the bottom is like Mesohippus, or some shit...

TW: spiders, slightly disturbing stuff (but its on a cellular level, as a metaphor)
i h@t3 b31ng s1ck, b|_|t @ th3 s@m3 t1me..
(translation: I hate being sick, but at the same time..)
its so fascinating, like wdym there are incomprehensibly tiny beings who aren't even conscious, driven by nothing but biology and billions of years of evolution, fighting, dying, every second, every minute, fighting against invaders the size of spiders who want to crawl inside them and overwrite their systems to produce more spiders??? (viruses btw)
wdym every second cells are being overwhelmed and dying, but even in the process, making distress calls that call more cells to march to their death help in the fight? wdym right now dendritic cells might be calling the adaptive immune system??? that it will spend ages at lymph nodes trying to find a perfect match?? AND THERE MIGHT BE ONE?? BECAUSE OF THE AMAZING WORK OF THE THYMUS?? And when this is over calling memory T cells that wont really be of any help anyways because of how fast viruses of the common cold evolve but STILL!! its a marval of nature!!!! a work of art!!!!!!! a beautiful complex dance of death and biology, adaptive and innate, toeing the line between what alive and what isn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (viruses aren't considered alive)
i feel like i don't express my love of biology enough,,,,

Why titanium is the BEST metal: a short analysis

Salutations comrades. You clicked read more, which means that either you agree about my statement on titanium OR. You disagree and want to see my point. No matter your side of this debate, you will soon see my perspective on why titanium, (pardon my French,) fucking RULES! ((Also haiii @graceful-not thought you may enjoy this!!!!!))

So. Let’s get started. What IS titanium? Titanium, naturally, is found as an oxide, and can be developed to be a SUUPPPEEERRR strong transition metal.
Titanium is named after the titans of Greek mythology, who basically were, as a very very simplified explanation, the “gods before the gods.” Now if THAT doesn’t scream “cool,” I don’t know what will. Imagine being named after the TITANS?! Furthermore, titanium is highly sought after thanks to its insane strength, low corrosive properties (which basically means it won’t break down quickly compared to other metals!!!) and being pretty lightweight.
It’s used in alloys with other metals (like aluminum, steel, iron, etc cetera) because titanium by itself is very VERY hard to manipulate. This is thanks to the fact that titanium is Very reactive to oxygen at higher temperatures. Titanium is oftentimes used for high-speed aircraft, missiles, and ships. AND HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE MISSILES AIRCRAFT OR SHIPS!!!!!?? Furthermore, titanium is often used in prosthetics!!! Since it doesn’t react to skin tissues compared to other metals. Natural titanium is found virtually everywhere, in the earths crust, in other metals, In rocks. IN LITERAL ASTEROIDS.
(It’s estimated the average human consumes around 0.8 milligrams of natural titanium through various food sources and also usually holds around 20 milligrams of titanium in the average body.)
Anywho, I love ALL metals. Steel, copper, aluminum —but titanium has always, ALWAYS, been my favorite. I hope this short collection of fun facts has helped someone in considering giving the awesome metal a chance at being their favorite for a little bit!!!! TITANIUM ROCKS!!!

Hello! My name is Micaelyn. I’m female and a minor. I go by she/her! | I am a Lesbian | Welcome to my science-centric blog where I’ll be sharing an assortment of facts, extensive information, and artwork! Consider this blog as my info-dump haven.
Fixations / things I generally like
Science! But specifically: Marine biology, chemical oceanography, astronomy, and genetics.
Birds! I favor Turkey vultures, Wandering + Laysan Albatross, Greater roadrunners, Storm petrels (Wilson’s), Alcids, African+King penguins, Montezuma Quails, Kea’s and Kakapos. I also like bats. My favorite species is the Indian flying fox.
Killer whales (I love the southern residents) Fun fact: I adopted J-35 Tahlequah from the whale museum last year!
Elasmobranchs, particularly Bluntnose Six-gill, Bamboo, and Scalloped Hammerhead sharks, as well as Spotted Eagle rays. Cephalopods also intrigue me, with the blanket octopus being my favorite.
The Geologic Time Scale, especially the Cambrian and Carboniferous period. I’ve committed to memory most of the Eras and periods within the Phanerozoic Eon! I love learning about earths evolutionary history :3
Dinosaurs! My top three are Carnotaurus, Spinosaurus and Parasaurolophus!
I love Nature photography! I am a nature photographer myself, I photograph mostly birds but I've also photographed different whales and flowers. I shoot with a Canon EOS R7 paired with the RF 100-500mm lens.

Hello! Avid Knowledge Collector here!
If you have any fun tidbits of knowledge or fun facts (especially about plants, bears, the universe, or genetics) let me know, I would LOVE to hear it! Due to currently being bound by mortal flesh, there are expected limits to how much knowledge I can have, but that doesn’t mean I can’t venture to or past that limit and transcend human limitations! I want to know as much as possible >:)
Seriously though, any fun facts would be much appreciated. Some people collect figurines, I collect interesting knowledge c:

Forgive the growing pains
Hello. Decades after it's heyday, I have decided to make a tumblr account. I've followed lots of blogs over the years and found so many interesting and niche information (and countless paragraphs of kind words and beautiful art which I have saved to my computer to keep and look at) that I've finally decided to live a little and enter the fray.
So, here I am. Forgive the growing pains.
.
.
.
.
My interests are innumerable, but recently what's been catching my attention is:
interesting/niche/unique websites (for example anything on Neocities, or hyperliterature like 17776, or indie web-game developers like Everest-Pipkin). Please let me know if you know any more of these cool websites on the indie web!
For lack of a better description, philosophy/self-help? Those aren't the right words. Maybe something along the lines of "existentialism" but that isn't quite right either. Somehow, I love when someone is able to capture the bittersweet poetry of living and being a person in this current world. Whatever and however that is. So please share with me. How deeply you feel about the memes your friends send you.
beautiful/calming environmental photography. I've kept @geopsych bookmarked for ages.
give me cool facts about anything animal, vegetable, or mineral please. I am nerd. If that wasn't obvious.
also, like, do you guys have tasty meal prep ideas? I'm always on the hunt
Regardless, please share with me all of your niche and nerdy and poetic things
