This motherfucker only did the series because he thought the series was dead and he would be the one to revive it, and then DMC5 came out. Just a fucking climber. No respect for the art, no respect for the history, just total narcissism.

Me: Netflix can't possibly make a DMC anime adaptation that bad.
Said DMC anime: But did you know these literal demons from literal hell are an allegory for refugees and if they enter 'Murica, humans will suffer "genocide"? They also eat humans.
Me: That's enough Netflix for today.

So apparently Adi Shanker didn't know DMC 5 was out before he made this show, so he is upset because he is not the one who "revived" a "dead franchise". He wants to be the savior of DMC but end up being the biggest stain in it instead
That's explain the self-insert and "visionary" huh

So, I found this tweet from Shankar...
I want to hear your opinions because I'm sure there are some of you who don't appreciate the lies Shankar has said.
Also, it's best that you have seen all the episodes if you wish to comment and I'm talking about stuff from the novels and manga, so if you only watched the adaptation and don't want to get spoiled, proceed with caution!

This was his reply regarding that clip that was shown before the adaptation was released. It's the scene from the first episode where he saves that woman and her baby Most people didn't like that he was being self-aware about his one-liners..
Given that the writing in general was pretty bad, I didn't take note who was the character who had self-aware dialogue...This adaptation barely had any memorable quotes, so if any of you know, leave a comment. I was put off by Mary's cussing and quantum bullshit to have noticed...
2)...that sets Dante in his path to becoming DMC3 Dante.
Yeah so much for that. He spent more time getting nerfed by Mary and being captured.
So, they made him appear like he's still inexperienced yet the records from the DARKCOM state that he had 5+ years working in demon hunting. So they kept tabs on him since he was 12-13?
So, instead of showing him as Tony, even if it could have been just a flashback, his period of working as a mercenary like in the first novel was basically summed up as having "5 years of experience", but not showing anything from that time? They could have shown him as a kid...
Let's see if Dante and Nell's meeting at DarkCom is their first one they knew each other because Dante worked aa a freelance mercenary...
Anywho, moving on.
3. "Which follows the manga"
The only thing taken from the manga was the White Rabbit...and Shankar said that's his self-interest. Oh, you wanna say that you're just misunderstood? Fuck off...
I also don't believe him when he said that Capcom showed him the materials for the last volume of the manga that was about Lady.
If it wasn't shown to the public and never mentioned in other media, then it's not part of the canon.
I think the moron in this post might have wanted to say "novel" instead of manga, but he probably uses them interchangeably.
Dumbass, he already had them in the DMC3 manga...
Most of us believed that in the first trailer he was presented as "Tony" because he didn't have Ebony and Ivory yet.
'Should I have the opportunity to continue the franchise"
Fuck no. He shouldn't have been given an opportunity in the first place.
So yeah, I would like to hear what you have to say and if you have seen other statements like that.
#devil may cry#netflix devil may cry#adi shankar#anti netflix dmc#he's such a liar#and yet people want more from him#because its better than nothing#yeah because it's better for your favorite series to get an awful reputation#huh?

DMC (Netflix) — Lady
Mary "Lady" Arkham, my beloved 🥰 April 3rd can't come soon enough 🔥
Gods, I missed Devil May Cry!It was so nice to draw Lady again after MONTHS! She's such an icon to me ♥
Also, beside the textures in the background, everything was made using a new brush I wanted to try! (It's literally called TRYpencil/CSP id=2155856 if want it!)

The thing I really can't stand about Adi Shankar and his works isn't that he consistently uses IP that I'm personally invested in as fodder for the shit he puts out (though that's certainly salt in the wound lmao.) It's that he walks around with this obnoxious outsider bad boy persona when his bread and butter is licensing out elderly, semi-obscure video games to adapt into a 12 episode season of Netflix bingeslop. This guy thinks he's punk rock for making an MCU-tier adaptation of a Playstation 2 game for the biggest streaming service on Earth. He thinks a hamburger anime based on Castlevania 3 that he stripped all the fun stuff from the games out of to make it more like Game of Thrones is underground art. The guy is a walking talking Cid Viscious Funko Pop.

So apparently Adi Shankar is a Trump supporter and went to his inauguration. I was so looking forward to the DMC show too. But this man supporting a fascist is the absolute dealbreaker for me.

Maybe the reason the dmc reboot and Adi Shankar's show cannot seem to get Sparda right or show him the respect he deserves is because they are ultimately too mean-spirited and cynical to ever understand Sparda. Think about it, Sparda woke up to justice and stopped an invasive empire because he found love and compassion. His journey is that of redemption and nobility. He is an unambiguously good person whose heroism sets the foundation of Devil May Cry.
Adi Shankar and Ninja Theory made works that are far too void of love and compassion to understand that. That's why they couldn't get Sparda or even DMC as a whole right.

Beautiful. Now I know for certain why Ellis and Shankar got divorsed
I think I've seen politicians that are less opportunistic than him

How miserable, petty of a person you have to be to candidly admit this in an interview?
"Aww I truly hoped my favorite franchise was dead so that I could swoop and do whatever the fuck I wanted and getting sucked off for my genius :("
These are not the words of someone who's passionate about the product. Oh, he can lie all he wants about that, but it's crystal clear he never gave a shit about anything that wasn't his own ego, he just wanted to be praised for being "the one who brought back the series", just like NFCV is credited for keeping the franchise relevant. Well, his crashout after the lukewarm reception of NDMC was more than proof of the inflated size of his pierced ego, but hearing it from the horse's mouth is another.
also lmao "aw bummer dmc5 is coming out", and then he steals so many elements from it, from voice actors to songs. dishonest opportunistic leech.
I'm almost more annoyed by how at the beginning of the clip he insists that he loves the product. Once again, I can give one (1) point to Ellis for always being honest about how little he gave of a fuck about Castlevania.

So, I have a question for you.
Have you noticed, maybe even mutuals, who were defending Netflix DMC before it released, defending Shankar only to express how disappointed they were after watching adaptation? And what's worse, still asking for more because "it's better than nothing"...Even though the series they love gets an awful reputation? Even though they were like 'uhh..music is good, action scenes were good...Uhh, I don't like how the characters were written. But yeah give me more, 'cause it's better than nothing!
So basically, they could have liked an original work.
I think there were many who thought it was more important that their stuff got shared by that guy and that was enough to not criticize him, Attention seeking and always trying to be kind most likely bit them in the ass in my opinion and I'm having a hard time feeling bad for them because they couldn't say no and overlooked the shit that Shankar has done. They were just used, Shankar isn't their buddy with whom they will hang out. He won't share your stuff when he gets his hands on another IP.
So yeah, have you seen people who acted like that?
