I forgot my very grown up cotton candy fragrance mist so I’m wearing a mysterious ajevie sample that had the label fade so I can’t read it. Cactus something. Smells amazing! But what is it?? Also I feel like it did in fact need to age more bc I don’t remember this one smelling so complex and lovely

my NAVA summer decants came in the mail on saturday, so they’ve only rested for two days but the collection comes down on the 29th so i’m testing today so i can test at least once more to see if i want to FS any. trying out two today.
Loveasaurus: Bourbon Vanille, White Amber, Sweet Tobacco, Rice Milk, Rice Shea accord, Rice Pudding accord, Japanese Honeysuckle Extrait, Tonka Bean and Benzoin Incense
i love NAVA’s bourbon vanille and white amber, and i also love tobacco, rise milk, and have been on the lookout for a good, realistic honeysuckle since i started collecting indies. initial impression is good! i don’t get much tobacco, but the vanille and amber blend together into something that’s best described as sweet, bright, and white. kind of a bad description, but, you know.
i get more honeysuckle in the vial than on the skin. but it adds a bit of almost powdery honey-floral sweetness. i think i’m also getting the benzoin, because there’s something deeper and almost sticky. so far it’s pretty faint on my skin, so the other one i’m testing is kind of overwhelming it, meaning i’ll have to test this alone one day.
Ice Cream & Summer Peach: NA Summer Peach accord, Peach skin, Ripe Peach accord, Tonka, Crystalline Vanilla Absolute, eNVie parfum saphir (Egyptian Amber & Musk Resin, blue balsamic amber, sweet papyrus oil from Cairo and Siam benzoin) and Bastet’s Ice Cream (Vanilla Crystalline Cream, Butter accord, Caramel Accord, French Vanilla Bean Absolute, Vanilla Milk accord, Vanilla Orchid, Crystalline Absolute and Vanilla Sugar).
the peach is sweet and almost powdery, like someone took a real peach, dehydrated it, and then crushed the dehydrated peach into powder, and sprinkled it over ice cream. i dislike bastet’s ice cream on its own, but here, especially coupled with more crystalline, it’s a sugary sweet, ethereal vanilla.
overall, it’s nice. perfectly serviceable. but i don’t think it’s what i want from a perfume. the peach is too sweet and almost candy-like, and not like the realistic and juicy peach i love from arcana. i’ll probably destash this decant.
the other two summer decants i got are Mango Vanilla Ice Cream (Mango skin, Bali Mango accord, Mango Pulp, Mango Crystals accord, Vanilla bean fleck, Vanilla Crystalline Cream, Butter accord, Caramel Accord, French Vanilla Bean Absolute, Vanilla Milk accord, Vanilla Orchid, Crystalline Absolute and Vanilla Sugar) which smells like candy in the vial so i probably won’t like it, and Royal Sandalwood Blood Citrus (Italian Blood Orange absolute, Sicilian Blood Orange essential oil, Australian Sandalwood, Indian Sandalwood aged in a Bourbon and Oakwood barrel, Tangerine Zest, Orange Zest, Blood Orange Zest, Crystalline Vanilla absolute, Bastet’s Musk and Vanilla Bean) that i knew i would love but not need a lot of so i got a chonk (2.3ml) from ajevie and the original bottle (looks like it has 1-2ml in it), and, yeah, i can tell i’m gonna fucking love it. hope i don’t regret not getting a FS...

tbh i followed mostly for the perfume reviews, the fact that i enjoy naruto + hannibal + ofmd is only incidental! please say more abt ur favorite scents. or better yet. least favorites. i used to get samples from ajevie, which had a lot of very small very cheap samples, lots of which were named after movies, some of which were vile and some delighted me—my favorite, to my taste—was this nice rich deep, warm and slightly orangey scent (i can't describe it better 😔 im new to this game) called "mephistopheles" tho i suspect u wouldnt like it based on what uve described abt ur preferences
i REALLY dont care for paco rabanne 1 million nor any of its flankers. they are not my friends and i hate them. toooo spicy too sweet smell GROSS on me. also a lot of valentino's perfumes in general suck ass!! they smell like stinky old ladies!! ALSO i didn't like zoologist squid because it smells like a cheap advent calendar to me BUT many of my friends like it so i give it a pass i guess... anyway we have a lot of the same interests hehe you should dm me!! we can chill :)

Crumpled Wrapping Paper by BPAL
This is an extremely late Yule review for BPAL!
There’s no image for this one because the decant isn’t very pretty and it’s hard to see the full name. I picked up several single notes from the Yule line for BPAL back in December. Among them, is "Crumpled Wrapping Paper," which was marketed as a single note.
Notes: None given. My first single note purchase!
In the bottle: Rather clean and white… almost cucumbery? I might think it's cucumber if I didn't already know what I was sniffing.
Wet: This immediately goes oddly plastic on my skin, but I think in that respect it immediately conjures the plasticky, produced scent of wrapping paper!
Dry down: There is no cucumber here, oh no. This definitely evokes something papery and plastic. It's almost too realistic for me, making me feel a little like I have some wrapping paper on my face, whenever I move my wrist close to sniff. This starts to get stronger as it dries down, the scent moving off the skin a bit. This fades down quite a bit to something rather soft; the plasticky edge loses its bite.
Sillage/Longevity:  This starts medium, then amplifies on my skin. For about an hour, it's incredibly strong, almost nauseatingly so for me. As I said above, it just kind of makes me think there's a plastic sheet over my face as I sniff my wrist. However, after two more hours, this has dried down to a low skin scent, although it does seem to last through hand washings with no issues.
Verdict: Weird, but kind of dead on. I'll keep the decant because it is one of my weirder single notes so far. I can't imagine this as a perfume though.

Ajevie did a giveaway of a ton of empty bottles, and I got the BPAL American Gods ones! They're basically empty, so no good for wearing, but a great way to see what they smell like before dropping $24 on one. It's not the whole collection, but it is most of them. And most of them are still available on the site if I find one I love. The Sun's Treasure and The Forgettable God are strong contenders right now. Gonna let them cool down, then go through all of them later.

Heads up! Another perfume oil from the Poesie ‘Marie Antoinette’ collection is back in stock as part of their limited time Summer Favorites series.
À la Reine: fresh ripe tomato, cucumber, a bouquet of garden herbs, sweet soil, all damp from the summer rain
It’s a very fresh, green garden scent!
Tumblr media
I also highly recommend:
County Line: wild strawberries, tangles of honeysuckle in full bloom, cold lemonade, a weathered wooden swing
and
Such a Heart: a juicy blend of lychee + tangerine, mimosa pompoms, pink cotton candy
Currently, Poesie does not ship internationally. However, the Summer Favorites series may appear on the Ajevie Decanter store, which offers international shipping.

poesie order came in tomorrow, aaaand i’m not good at letting poesies rest, i guess!
Green Girl: pistachio, wildflower honey, oatmilk matcha latte, heliotrope blossoms, marshmallow musk
i’ve been wanting to try this one since i came out, but by the time i decided to jump on it, it was sold out! and it kept selling out. i’m glad it was added to the GC so i finally got to try it.
see, i’ve been trying to find a genuine matcha perfumes since i’ve started collecting indie perfumes. every single perfume that claimed to have “matcha” in it was actually just a green tea. you know how green tea notes are bright and fresh, in the same way fresh water notes are, but clearly green tea? see, i love that smell! but matcha is earthy and i love how it smells, so i want THAT. i’ve seen people say green girl is genuine matcha, so... is it?
ah....... maybe?
perhaps this will change if i let it rest, but right now i get very little of what might be matcha. i actually mostly smell what might be the oatmilk, since it’s a note that’s very similar to Mysterious Fossils (smoked black tea with creamy vanilla oatmilk, cashmere sweater, tortoiseshell glasses with clear, shiny lenses, and a warm cedar chest that contains fossils encased in amber, sandstone, and limestone) which did not work for me. i think i’m getting the marshmallow musk too, since there’s some background note that feels similar to the ghost and goblin perfumes i got in this order too (both have a marshmallow base).
i honestly did not expect to get any pistachio, because for some reason i’ve never smelled it in any perfume that’s had it as a note. actually, thinking about it, do i even know what pistachio smells like? i know what it tastes like, because of course i do, they’re delicious, but smell...??? maybe i can’t smell it well for whatever reason? all i’m recalling is vaguely salty nutty smells, which can be anything.
heliotrope apparently are a flower that smells a bit like vanilla, or cherry pie, or even cinnamon, according to google. perfumers add it to add a bit of vanilla creaminess. since i’m not familiar with it i’m not sure, but i could also be getting that. there’s something else in here that smells a bit fresh and sharp, like i perceive most florals, but it’s very soft so i don’t mind it. or maybe that’s the wildflower honey? most lighter honey notes smell too sharp and astringent to me so at least i’m not getting that. i was honestly most worried about the honey.
man, this review is all over the place, and all i’ve said is i can’t really differentiate notes. let’s wrap it up with a tldr first impressions of a perfume that should probably be retested in a week!
it smells mature and classy, but still approachable. this perfume is the pretty quiet girl who always has a book on her, but is very friendly and also one of the coolest people you’ve ever met once you strike up a conversation. it IS green, but not in the way i normally mean when i say green - it doesn’t smell like fresh plants or patch or anything that stands out. everything blends together into something green, creamy, and soothing. so far i like it, but i’m not IN LOVE with it, so i’m glad i didn’t go nuts and blind buy a 5ml and get a 2ml instead.
...i DID blind buy a 5ml of Introvert Goblin (chai tea with extra cardamom, a cozy stack of old books, marshmallow, sweet pumpkin flesh enrobed in warm pumpkin spice) though. poesie is not offering individual 2mls of the ghosts and goblins, only 2ml sets, and i wasn’t interested enough in the others to get sample sets. and i knew ajevie wouldn’t have decants ready before the ghosts and goblins collection went down. i tested it briefly yesterday because i quite liked it in the bottle, and i think it’ll be a winner! i have an issue with chai scents that they’re too cinnamon-y for me, but this one with the cardamon is MMMM. the marshmallow and pumpkin just add a plush sweetness to it. i’ll have to give it a better test later, once i can!
as an aside, my introvert goblin rollerball is one of the others that does not want to roll at all. i struggled to get it to deposit any perfume on my skin. sometimes i get poesie rollerballs like this and it drives me NUTS. poesie is notoriously a softer perfume house, so sometimes i really want to slather their stuff, and this is one of hem. but i can’t if the rollerball refuses to work! maybe i should look into replacing them myself...

so. your local scent hoe just placed a sample order from ajevie full of goodies from hexennacht, possets and poesie (and even a bpal LE decant, oh my! in my defence, it was pancake-themed, and i am as much a pancake hoe as a scent hoe, if not more).
as such, well... preorder, int’l shipping and customs delays mean it will be a generous couple months until i get them, but you can count on indie perfume reviews from brands other than alkemia and bpal. eventually.

“...zissir Indri ajevi, sajidiv ea’i rina’eki, di viea, sti vei...”
Renget stood in the living room of their apartment, listening to Cairis sing.  He’d gotten home earlier than he was supposed to be.  He’d thought to take her out to dinner, but when he got home, he walked into an incredible smell.
Following his nose, he’d found her cooking in the kitchen.  He never was one to say no to her pasta with meat sauce, usually, but maybe this once...
And then, she’d begun singing.
He stood as if his feet had taken root.  Her voice wasn’t perfect, no.  He’d heard far better singers.  But her voice was clear and strong, and she was singing in the language of her home planet - a language he rarely heard from her.
He had no idea what the words meant.  He didn’t particularly care.
Her voice filled his ears while the smell of the food filled his nostrils.
All of it together - she; her - filled his heart.
It scared him clear down to his liver.
She turned, then, and noticed him standing there.  The song went away on a small shriek and a flinch - that then turned to an exasperated sigh and then a smile as she came over to him.
“Ren,” she said, her voice warm.  “When did you get home?  Are you alright?”
“Fine.  I’m just... fine.”  He smiled at her.  “Sing some more?”
“....sure?”  She gave him a concerned frown.  “I mean: yes, if you really want.”
Her frown cleared away; the smile returning before she went back to the kitchen.
“I hope you’re hungry!  I was just making a batch of meat sauce, but I can throw some pasta on.”
Renget blinked as he processed her words.  He rubbed at his chest.
“In that case, just finish up the sauce?  I’d thought I’d take you out tonight,” he explained.
“Oh?  Okay; great!  I’m in the mood for some seafood, if that’s alright?”
“Yeah.”
She got back to making the sauce - until he cleared his throat.  She looked at him, and then laughed.
And then... sang.
Renget stood still, listened - loved.
