Chapter 12- Part 4

Alright sir, no need to be so dramatic about it, let’s just get this done-

So yeah, Noibat shall henceforth be known as Decibel! Another sound-theme named!

Something else funny about that name, “Decibel.” You know how, in just about every Pokémon game- from the mainline games to even a lot of the spinoff games- the main characters have canon names? There’s the most famous example of Red in the original Gen I games, but there are other examples- Brendan and May in Gen III, Calem and Serena in Gen VI, Rei and Akari in Legends: Arceus, etc. 

Pokémon fan games don’t tend to be different, as far as I’ve seen- like, Pokémon Insurgence’s main characters’ canon names are Wyatt and Nichole, for example. And Reborn is no exception! Indeed, all six avatars have canon first names, last names, and genders- like, the one with the long blonde hair? That’s canonically a lady named Alice Winthrop. And the avatar I chose is, canonically, a nonbinary person named Decibel No-Last-Name!

…Not kidding, by the way, they’re the only protagonist without a canon last name, for…some reason. But either way, I knew there was something special about that avatar! Maybe that was what compelled me to choose them over the others- even if the name and gender identity I use for Xera is, you know, different. 

…Still haven’t come up with a proper surname for Xera yet. Maybe I’ll be hit with inspiration as I go through this play session. 

Anyways, character trivia aside, we’ve still got some level-grinding to do, so- back to Grand Hall we go!

Several minutes later-

Okay this is absolute bull- the ONLY guy at the Grand Hall battle corner today is some Psychic with, like, a Mawile and a Natu that were above Lv. 20, and he didn’t even give that much money upon beating him. So like- sucks to be us, I guess, serves me right for wanting to utilize the battle corner.

Luckily, we have plenty of Exp. Candies leftover, so we can just use those to get everyone to the levels I was looking for-

And there we go! I’m certain there will be Trainers to fight in the Gym itself, so that can be some extra grinding, and then we’ll go from there.

Now, with that out of the way…back to the OTS we go!

Ooooooh, it makes me so unreasonably happy to see the in-game characters calling my character by the proper name now! Even if it’s Fern! Look at that, it’s all coming together, it’s beautiful!

Oh, also- hi Fern. Yeah, I should’ve expected him to appear sooner or later, this is his sister’s Gym, honestly I’d be more shocked if he didn’t show up.

Oh dear- is he salty that he didn’t get to participate in that mission?

Because Xera actually showed up…? Where were you when all of that was going down, if you were so eager to participate?

Oh no- Fern, honey, Xera’s gonna kill you of you keep talking like that, poor guy doesn’t even know what a sore subject that is for her right now-

…On second thought, I feel like if he did know, he’d still be like “she’d still be here if I was there instead.” In fact- no, he’d double down on that if he got a visceral reaction from Xera, he definitely strikes me as the kind of person to be like “oh, struck a nerve, didn’t I? >:)”

I mean, if it’s a battle you want, I’m down- I aced your salty face once already, I can do it again! I’m smarter now than that first time!

Gate…? Wait, he’s physically blocking her out? Geez, he’s going all out for this, he really is salty about not being at the Park!

No no, you explained very clearly why you’re doing this-

You know, it’s almost like Fern’s trying to upstage Cain in terms of how dramatic he can be- and that’s not a good thing.

Why everyone is banned from Papa Louie’s Netflix (part 2)

Clover: Got way too excited watching Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and used Papa’s antique glass table and $800 ivory chopsticks as a drum set.

Marty: Kept bugging Clover to do a Vi and Jinx cosplay with him after watching Arcane. Additionally forced the rest of the Shakers to learn Enemy by Imagine Dragons and proceeded to sing it every day to the point where Papa could hear it in his nightmares.

Cooper: Thought Bojack Horseman was gonna be a funny kids’ cartoon and ended up crying over it for a week straight. He cried at home, work meetings, in bed, and especially at work.

Taylor: Accidentally spoiled the ending of season 2 of The Umbrella Academy during a work meeting. His permission will be reinstated once season 3 comes out and Papa needs someone to watch it with.

Cecilia: Watched Cheer with Timm and roasted all the contestants. Then did her own rendition of the moves in the living room and broke Papa’s cheeseburger chandelier.

Timm: Same as the above situation, but he’s the one who basket tossed her into the chandelier.

Chuck: Watched every Nickelodeon show and wouldn’t stop using iCarly and Victorious humor in every day conversation.

James: Watched Marriage Story with one of his dates (before his character development) and during the argument scene, James and his date also got into a loud argument. It was very upsetting to everyone else in the house.

Utah: Got Alberto, Penny, and Gremmie to recreate Outer Banks with her and accidentally flooded the Freezeria. And the Pastaria. And the Donuteria somehow.

Koilee: Was so offended by Fate: The Winx Saga that she went on a 4 hour rant in both irl and on Twitter about how much it differed from the original Winx. But her permission was reinstated after she introduced Papa to Children of the Whales and Mischievous Kiss.

Carlo: While watching the Chef Show and Iron Chef, he got hungry and decided to cook in Papa’s kitchen. But it was 3 AM and he was sleep deprived, so the kitchen caught on fire. His permission was reinstated because after the fire, Papa ate his lasagna and while it was a tad overdone, it was delicious.

Mitch: After watching The Cuphead Show, he would imitate the characters’ voices when sneaking up behind the others to scare them. This happened with just about every cartoon, so now Papa is trying to get Mitch banned from TV altogether. His permission might get reinstated because he won’t shut up about needing to watch the live action Scooby Doo.

Allan: Made fun of Joy for watching Miraculous Ladybug when he was secretly streaming Mako Mermaids. His permission was unofficially reinstated by him just watching Netflix with Roy and Olivia since Roy still has full permission.

Akari: Let Willow, who was banned from Papa’s Netflix, watch Castlevania and Charmed with her. Willow then got possessed once again and this time, they had to play the actual Stranger Things soundtrack.

MAGICAL GIRL MAGICAL DESTROYERS 

L’originale serie animata, diretta da Hiroshi Ikehata (TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You, Kiratto Pri☆Chan) e prodotta presso BIBURY ANIMATION STUDIO (The Quintessential Quintuplets 2, Azur Lane, Grisaia: Phantom Trigger), arriverà nel corso del 2023.

La serie animata, basata sulla commedia sentimentale di Yuki Kanamaru, comincerà ad andare in onda a partire dal 9 ottobre.

La serie animata, tratta dalla light novel fantasy slice of life di Yuka Tachibana, tornerà nel corso del 2023.

Sei, un’impiegata di 20 anni, viene trasportata improvvisamente in un mondo completamente nuovo. Il rituale che l'ha convocata aveva il fine di evocare una “Santa” che bandisse la magia nera, ma qualcosa è andato storto e sono comparse due persone invece di una. EDENS ZERO - Stagione 2

La serie animata, tratta dal nuovo manga di Hiro Mashima (Fairy Tail), tornerà in tv con la seconda stagione da aprile 2023.

La prima stagione di 25 episodi è disponibile in streaming su Netflix, anche doppiata in italiano.  

Il giovane Shiki vive sul pianeta Granbell insieme ai robot che animano un vastissimo parco a tema. Un giorno arrivano due visitatori, i primi a mettere piede su Granbell da circa un secolo: Rebecca, una giovane creatrice di contenuti digitali, e il suo gatto blu Happy. I tre vanno subito d’accordo e diventano amici… Ancora non sanno che questo incontro cambierà i loro destini!

L’adattamento targato studio J.C. STAFF (DanMachi, Hi Score Girl, A Certain Scientific Railgun), è stato supervisionato da Shinji Ishihara (Fairy Tail, Log Horizon) e diretto da Yushi Suzuki.

Il regista, purtroppo, è deceduto poco prima della conclusione della trasmissione della serie e, al momento, non sappiamo chi verrà incaricato di sostituirlo nella realizzazione della seconda stagione.

La seconda stagione della serie animata, tratta dalla light novel fantasy slice of life di Roy, arriverà da gennaio 2023.

Ryoma Takebayashi è un impiegato di mezza età, non è mai stato molto fortunato e finisce per lasciare questo mondo in modo improvviso e deludente. La commedia ecchi fantasy, tratta dall’omonimo manga di Taichi Kawazoe, andrà in onda dal 5 ottobre. 

Kikuru Madan è un abile cacciatore di mostri, che però ha intenzione di ritirarsi per paura di sprecare la propria gioventù. Un giorno, un membro dello staff della sua gilda gli suggerisce di andare in missione con una nuova artista marziale di nome Hitamu Kyan. Akari City is a city located in the south of Japan. It is the capital of the Chiba Prefecture, and is one of the largest cities in Japan with a population of over 8 million people. Akari City is known for its vibrant culture, and is home to a variety of attractions, such as the Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Disneyland, and the Tokyo National Museum. The city is also home to a number of universities, such as the University of Tokyo, and has a thriving business district. The city is also known for its unique language, which is known as ISO language codes vi. This language is a combination of Japanese, English, and Chinese, and is spoken by many of the citizens of Akari City. The language is considered to be a bridge between the East and the West, and is used in a variety of contexts, such as business, education, and entertainment. Some character designs for some more of the girls that appear in the Daemon Familiar’s story in the present day era and whom Airi will meet - and contend with - on her travels to find the Demon King-in-Exile. That I...did during the ice storm and three of the sixteen hours spent in the dark without power, but y’all don’t need to know that.

Locations, and mostly outfits, are not 100% finalized, but written here as a reference point for future material.

A quick rundown:

Rochelle (left): The current leader of a community-driven law enforcement agency out in the jungles west of Esserings that was founded by her ancestors shortly after the Great War, in a direct counter-response to the police brutality and corruption among and enacted by the Displacers. Rochelle is dedicated to continuing her family’s line of work and upholding the peace that they feel the Displacers have failed in their duty to follow since their formation in the Rift War. Although she is willing to give the Displacers an opportunity to redeem themselves of their crimes against the common folk, Rochelle is willing to fight dirty and shed blood against them if it means their corruptive influence and arrogance will not harm her people and fellow officers - including a time-displaced cadet in training such as Airi, whose wanderings with Iryna lead her right into the heart - and the cross-hairs - of the group colloquially called ‘the Displacer Hunters’.

Hikari/Akari (middle): A former Displacer in the Esserings Displacer agency. As one of the two rising stars among their generation, Hikari was considered to be a candidate for promotion as an elite captain of the Displacer Honor Guard, an exceptional honor that is normally granted to more older, experienced members - especially to people that inhabit the islands to the far west and south of the mainland continent. However, observation of the corruption and misconduct committed by not only her own unit but other divisions among the Displacers led Hikari to become increasingly disillusioned, frustrated, and ultimately disgusted with the lack of investigation and accountability toward them, until she became a target of harassment and sexual abuse from the upper echelons. One such crime committed by her unit was the theft of a sword from a demon society, said to be forged under a full red moon, with the spirit of a night gaunt and the ability to drink the blood of people with sinful hearts. Unaware of the crime that had been done save for the claims of its creation, Hikari was drawn to and found solace at the sight of the bloodletting blade. Eventually, she came to the conclusion that the Displacers were a lost cause and must be dismantled. On that day, she broke through the containment housing the Blade, slaughtered her way through the ranks she once called ally, and fled the Esserings a wanted fugitive, taking up the pseudonym Akari. There she finds her way into Rochelle’s community and slowly earns her favor - and her respect - by providing evidence of the ongoing misconduct of the Displacer agencies. At the time of Airi’s travels, Hikari is currently Rochelle’s third-in-command, below her lieutenant and confidante, Marshall.

Eri (right): The second of the two Displacers within the Esserings Displacer agency that were considered for promotion to Honorary Guard. Eri and Hikari belonged to and fought in the same unit and were known to be close friends, to the envy of many that vied for Hikari’s attention. However, whereas Hikari had been relaxed and carefree, Eri is quiet, no-nonsense, and a strict follower of the law, focused on upholding the honor and integrity of her organization. However, she herself was not blind to the rumors and allegations of corruption among the Displacers, and although Hikari struggled to bring to light their severity and calls for investigation from the unions and parliament, Eri could only watch as each request was denied or failed with no follow-up. It is then that news of Hikari’s theft of the Bloodletting Blade and mass slaughter of their comrades quickly spreads through the mainland - news that drives Eri into denial and despair. What became of that promotion is unknown, but presently Eri remains within the ranks not only as an elite Displacer but as a licensed bounty hunter, in the wake of rumblings that the Demon King-in-Exile has selected a new Chosen Hero. Eri bides her time and carries out her duty as seen fit, determined to keep tabs on the time-lost stranger named Airi who is on the move with the return of the Majestic Twelve but root out the corruption of the Displacers from within - and, eventually, come to blows with Hikari, who is equally resolute in supplanting the Displacers from their seat of power.

Borrower meets Submas AU? Let’s goooooo!

What if-

What if like...

Akari is a borrower, right? And so is the rest of Jubilife village.

But Instead of living in ancient Hisui, they live hidden in Gear Station.

She and Rei are orphans (maybe twins, too?) and because they had no one to look after them they were brought to the... whatever the Galaxy team is renamed as because it's already a thing in the future. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They're being trained join the survey corps, who's job it is to go out and secretly observe and record data on the humans and pokemon who are employed in the battle subway. (wait, does that mean that they need to fill out their humidex? (╯▽╰ ;)  ) 

Fortunately, the station works on a tight schedule. The Subway masters see to that. But it's important to know if there will be any changes, or if anyone has noticed something awry, vis a vis tiny people running around.

Data is recorded in their log books and then reported back to headquarters. Then timetables and precautions are written up and given to the supply corps, who are the ones who do the actual borrowing for the community.

So one day, Rei and Akari are doing their job. It’s early in their career, but they’ve already been on one or two solo missions. They have met up after their shifts and are heading back to Jubilife together. 

It's late at night, so the station is quiet. Contrary to the general human experience, midnight and onward is the safest time for any borrower to be out in the subway proper. At first they're keeping their voices down as they catch up on the days events. But there's something about being out late with a close friend in a vaguely spooky place that really brings out the giggles in a kid. (Especially if they’re tired). 

The two end up goofing around. Maybe mimicking behavior they've observed from the Subway Bosses. Using train metaphors and striking poses and such. Even though Akari and Rei aren’t assigned to them personally (Akari watches the gift counter and Rei checks on the office staff) it’s hard to miss the two most intimidating humans in the whole station. They have presence. 

What the tiny siblings don't realize while they play around, is that there is a curious Joltik nearby. It recognizes the tones and behavior of the two nice humans being shown by these (much more sensibly sized) creatures, and it comes over to make friends! Maybe they will give it a battery!

Unfortunately, borrowers in this Jubilife village are just as terrified of pokemon as the people in PLA, so Rei and Akari assume it's going to attack them and freak out!

They start running for their lives, pursued by a (comparatively) giant bug type with a poor grasp of social cues.

Meanwhile, Ingo and Emmet have finished work for the day and are ready to head home for a well earned rest. But their trains are derailed when they hear the sound of children screaming.

It's shocking, full of fear and desperation. With no more than a quick glance, they rush off to help whoever is in distress.

The human twins are brought up short when they find two tiny children cornered by a joltik.

Normally these pokemon were quite small and harmless, but at their size, it must have seemed like a monster! There also seems to have been something of an unfortunate accident.

The small boy is laying on the ground, seemingly paralyzed by an electric jolt. The girl is kneeling by his side, begging him to move, to be okay.

The joltik is awfully sorry. It didn't mean to shock anyone. It just got carried away. But every time it tries to approach, the small girl yells at it to stay away.

This whole scene throws Ingo and Emmet for a loop, but soon their own training comes to their aid, and the two subway bosses take charge of the situation.

Emmet comforts and distracts the distressed Joltik while Ingo performs a safety check on the two young ones.

The girl is shaking violently. Heaving gasps of air that never seem to be enough to fill her lungs. The boy is completely out of it. Neither of them are in any condition to be left on their own.

Ingo and Emmet can't get any information out of the girl about where she came from (you don't tell humans that kind of thing!) and so having few options left they end up bringing the children home with them. (After all, Emmet is well supplied with paralyze heals)

At first the kids are out of their minds with panic, but eventually they come to realize that the two humans, while looking quite scary, are actually very kind. Funny too.

I have more, but I have to go now. I'll also add a read more once I have a chance to get on my desktop.
