Alpine's day had been pretty exciting, all things considered.
Alpine loved her dad – no doubt between her furry little ears. However, when her dad left for work that morning, curiosity had finally gotten the better of her as she slinked by him and out the door. In his tired state he hadn't noticed her dash for freedom and she hadn’t expected to actually get outside.
But she had.
The street was loud, louder than it was in the apartment and people walked by so briskly they barely noticed her. Alpine dodged multiple shoes and weaved through legs hurriedly. Some humans scorned her but otherwise left her alone.
Alpine's soft paws tittered over the concrete as she took in her surroundings.
Everything smelled the same, just amplified.
She hadn’t been outdoors  - at least, not without her dad– since she was kitten. She couldn’t remember much about her life before she met her dad other than everything was big, it was cold and she had been scared. Bucky had brought a warmth she had only briefly experienced as a kitten. He had taken her in, fed her and comforted her. He had shown a kindness she was unfamiliar with but appreciated all the same. She had attempted to return the favour, on occasion, but apparently dead mice are not appropriate gifts for humans. However, Alpine had found she was better on the nights her dad couldn’t sleep or had a nightmare, sitting on top of his chest and purring gently to help him calm down.
Alpine slipped through an iron fence crunching leaves in her wake and emerged from under a green shrub onto another pathway. This one had strange wooden seats littered along the pathway, looking onto a lake and…
Birds.
There were plenty of shrubs and trees in this area and the humans around seemed to be feeding strange birds on the lake. Alpine hopped onto one of the strange seats and sat down, curling her white tail around her, studying the birds. Perhaps a bird would be a better gift than a mouse. Alpine’s ears flattened as she considered it but eventually decided that her dad would probably scold her and be ungrateful for her efforts as per usual.
Alpine’s tail flicked in annoyance. There had to be something she could gift her dad, without getting into trouble. She eyed the humans who were walking along the pathway with the utmost scrutiny.
Small humans got excited to see her and she had to swat one who was petting her a little too hard. He was tugged away by his mother pretty quickly after that.
Slowly, a pattern began to emerge. There were all sorts of humans, of all ages, but mainly in pairs.Old, young, mother and son, father and daughter, sisters, brothers… they were all coupled in some way. Alpine’s tail tip curled with excitement. She could find her dad a companion. Steve and Sam were okay but she couldn't imagine their hands intertwined with her dad's or doing that strange thing coupled humans were doing with their mouths.
No. Alpine needed to find a new human to be her father's companion. That would be the best gift she could get him.
Alpine leapt from her seat and began her search. The first human she walked by was pretty, but pulled a sour face when Alpine approached and was snapping at someone down the phone. They only stopped to shoo at Alpine.
Too rude.
Alpine huffed, tail flicking is distaste and moving down the path.
The next was a woman who, Alpine assumed, in her prime would have been beautiful. She has feeding some pigeons with a woollen blanket across her lap, large thick framed glasses almost covering her face entirely. Her wrinkled hands shook crumbs onto the floor for the birds, who barely batted an eye at Alpine’s approach.
“Well, now,” The lady cooed as Alpine sat before her. “Aren’t you just darling.”
She held out a knuckle to Alpine, who graciously butted it with her head and allowed herself to be petted ever so gently by the sweet old woman.
Too old. Unfortunately.
After five minutes of fussing, Alpine moved away giving the old woman a small trill of a goodbye.
Much of the next hour around the open area was the same. Some were too young, or too old, were not a good potential match,  didn’t like Alpine or were already coupled. Alpine growled in frustration. Maybe she would have to go elsewhere but for now she wanted to go home. Today’s mission was a failure.
There was a loud noise that tore through the park. It wasn’t human. It was angry, gravelly and approaching rapidly.
A dog.
Alpine’s eyes widened in fear as the dog made a run for her, teeth snapping ferociously. She scampered, clawing her way more than halfway up a tree, turning back to hiss viciously and scratch at the dog’s muzzle when it tried to jump for her. It’s human was taking an idle time in retrieving it.
However, Alpine didn’t have to wait very long when she heard a human yelling at the dog, and it’s human. Alpine’s blue eyes narrowed  as she spotted the human stomping their way over to the tree.
“Keep your damn dog on a leash!” The human yelled as the dog’s owner tugged the collar of his pet away. The dog’s eyes watched Alpine and continued to snarl.
“Christ, it’s a cat –“
“and you’re an irresponsible dickwad.” The human stood tall, hands on hips as they glowered at the owner. “Dogs at the park should always be on a leash, regardless of how well trained they are. There is a reason for that; protecting the dog and the other people. How inconsiderate do you have to be?”
The owner huffed and muttered under his breath, finally managing to get the dog away. After glowering at the owner until he was out of sight, their features softened and they dropped their hands loosely at their side, turning towards Alpine.
“Hey sweetheart,” they spoke gently, giving Alpine space to jump and vanish if she so wished. “it’s okay. You’re okay now.”
Alpine considered the human for a moment, detaching her claws from the bark and elegantly landing on the ground. She sniffed hesitantly. Alpine could smell so many different things from the human; cinnamon, coffee, another scent she couldn’t quite place and... her cat kibble. This human smelled similar to home. The human offered their knuckle and Alpine bumped her head against it with a happy trill, tail high in the air.
The human laughed and rubbed Alpine’s ears as she weaved around their legs. The human’s smile was warm and gentle; just like Alpine’s dad’s.
You are perfect.
Tumblr media
Your day had been relatively mundane. Until you saw an asshole with his dog off leash chasing some poor cat up a tree.
Now you had said cat bundled into your hoodie purring happily whilst you rode the subway, the cat’s little white head sticking out the neck hole to hiss at anyone who came too close to you. Probably not the strangest thing New Yorkers had ever seen, but you couldn’t help but smile at the little furball.
The cat’s tag had noted its name as Alpine but no address, only a phone number. You had made a mental note to call later in the safety of your apartment, however, you had more  pressing issues at the forefront of your mind. For example, manoeuvring for your subway tickets whilst holding Alpine in your arms.
“Sweetie, I might have to put you in bath jail.” You tell Alpine, looking down at her tucked away in your hoodie. Alpine looks up at you, as if she’s listening intently to what you’re saying, big blue eyes staring back at you. You melt – she’s so beautiful. Her owner, whoever they may be, clearly adores Alpine; a cute collar and beautifully maintained soft, clean white fur.
“I don’t know if my kitty will like you.” You say apologetically, giving Alpine a small smile. You could’ve sworn she huffed as she looked away from you as you climbed the stairs to your apartment.
Unlocking your door awkwardly, leaning back so Alpine doesn’t slip out from your hoodie, you enter your apartment. Once the door shuts into place, before you can even call out that you’re home, Alpine is wriggling from your grip and out of your arms.
“No no no,” you say hurriedly, dropping your keys as Alpine bounds away from you sniffing.
There's a scampering sound, then bolting into the living area, Apollo appears. His green eyes fix onto Alpine, his usually sleek fur prickling like he was charging static. Alpine’s tail fluffs up like a pom-pom and you watch on with baited breath as Alpine growls warningly at Apollo. The last thing you need right now is a literal cat fight.
Apollo’s ears twitch rapidly. Both cats are frozen in mid-step, staring at one another until Apollo chirps, his thin tail twitching as he bounds at Alpine. He bulldozes into her and she flops onto her side with a soft thud. It takes you a moment to realise that your young cat is playing and Alpine doesn’t seem to mind. In fact, shes tolerating it. You sigh with relief watching Alpine pin Apollo’s excitable self under her with ease. Apollo's legs stick comically out from underneath her, his tortoiseshell patterning making Alpine’s elegant self look like she’s wearing crocodile hot pants with white socks.
You chuckle and snap a quick picture before punching the number you’d copied from Alpine’s collar into your dial pad. You hold your phone to your ear, pacing to the kitchen to make yourself a drink. It rings seven times and you almost hang up before a male voice answers.
“Hello?” The voice is gruff and curt, and you're immediately feeling nervous, wondering if you’d typed in the wrong number accidentally. “Look, if you’re selling something I’m in the middle of-“
“I have your cat!” you blurt and at the risk of sounding like a catnapper, hurriedly add, “I found at her at a park near the Central Cafe.”
“Oh thank God,” the voice heaves, sounding a lot less tense now which helps to ease your own nerves. “I’ve been looking for her for the past two hours. I can call off the search party.”
You chuckle, glancing over at Alpine, whose now pinning Apollo by the head with a snowy paw. “She’s got one heck of a personality, I’ll give you that.”
“She sure does,” The voice chuckles. “Uh, when can I come to get her?”
“Oh – whenever. I can text you my address.” You open the fridge with your phone tucked between your ear and shoulder, pulling out a soda.
“Great. I can come now? If that’s not too short notice?” The person on the other end is clearly desperate to be reunited with Alpine and you don’t blame them one bit. The soda in your hand hisses as you pop open the tab.
“No it’s fine. You want your baby back, I get it.”
“Thanks. I’ll be there as soon as I can.” You expect to hear the beep of the call disconnecting, but you’re surprised when the voice speaks again. “And thanks... for finding Alpine.”
You feel a little bashful. You hadn’t exactly found her. More like rescued her and then she’d clambered onto you. “It was nothing. I’ll see you soon.”
“See ya.”
You find yourself smiling smugly as the call disconnects and you tap in your address to Alpine’s parents’ number.  When you look up from your phone, both Alpine and Apollo are looking at you.
“What?” You say, raising your arms half heartedly. Strangely, the cat’s are looking like they were plotting something  and you couldn’t put your finger on what. With one last curious glance at them, you shake your head and move to the couch; waiting for Alpine’s owner to arrive.
Tumblr media
Bucky’s day had been awful.
He was still tired from his last mission when he got called in to work again. He couldn't wait to return home to Alpine. He imagined her waiting for him by the door as usual, waiting patiently for him to walk in from work and bombard him with pleas for attention and treats. He smiled to himself as he unlocked his door. Alpine was the best thing to have ever happened to him and he spoiled her rotten to prove it. He never thought he would be what Natasha had called a cat dad, but he was, and loved every moment he spent with his furry companion.
So when he entered his apartment, calling out for Alpine and having no response, his mind immediately frog-leaped to the worst conclusions. Bucky tore his apartment apart frantically, calling Alpine’s name. With each shout and each room and nook searched his voice became more desperate. Bucky checked all of the windows to make sure they were closed. He checked Alpine’s usual spots. The cupboards. The washing machine. Under the couch. He almost ripped up a floorboard before he realised he was hyperventilating and collapsed to the floor.
His breathing was laboured, vision blurring from both the lack of air in his lungs and the overwhelming feelings of fear and guilt thar plagued him. His head was in his hands staring at the floor wondering how and where Alpine had vanished to.
He'd almost missed your phone call because he was so upset.
Bucky stands outside your door awkwardly. He's buzzing with desperation to have Alpine back in his arms but doesn't quite know what to expect beyond the door. He raps the wood gently, hearing the butsle of you shift off your sofa with a muted "Coming!"
The first thing you do when you open the door to Bucky is smile. That catches him off guard. You step aside and welcome him in, apologising for a mess that doesn't exist and explaining that Alpine was playing with your cat somewhere in the apartment.
"What did you say his name was?" Bucky asks, eyeing an enormous cat tree you'd placed in a corner. He made a mental note to buy one for Alpine.
"Apollo." You reply. You frown and pace around your sofa, clearly looking for something. "Sorry I... they were right here a second ago."
"That's a nice name." Bucky stuffs his hands into his pockets. You hum in response this time. This was painfully awkward.
A meow from one of your rooms echoes through the apartment. It sounds like Alpine. Bucky moves before you do, taking two large steps in the direction of the sound before a flash of fur attaches itself to Bucky’s leg. Bucky looks down excitedly expecting to see Alpine, but his face falls when he realises it's a cat he doesn't recognise. It's Apollo.
Apollo's claws poke through the blue fabric of Bucky's jeans and Bucky could have sworn the cat looked damn smug about it too.
“You little asshole,” You gasp, grabbing Apollo. His back half lifts easily but his claws remain latched in Bucky’s jeans. Even as Apollo is stretched further, his body limply following your hands, he doesn’t retract his claws. He mewls softly and looks back at his pet parent with wide green eyes, that were trying desperately to look as innocent and cute as he could muster.
“I am so sorry.” you grovel apologetically to Bucky, not meeting his gaze. Bucky huffs with a smile. Now he really doesn't know what to do. Your cheeks burn with embarassment as you give Apollo a gentle wiggle. “Let go.”
Apollo refuses and meows in defiance. As if on cue, Alpine trots out from your bedroom rounding on you and jumping onto your back. You yelp, startled by Alpine's sneak attack, and straighten your back to try to shake her off. Alpine perches on your shoulder, sinking her own claws into the thin fabric of your shirt. She definitely wouldn't be moving unless she decided it, and meows triumphantly.
"Alpine!" Bucky gasps, reaching for his own cat. She had never done this before with anyone. He flushes with embarassment as well now. He thought your cat was a smug ass and now his cat was misbehaving too. This day was getting worse and worse.
Alpine mewled in protest when Bucky attempted to tug her away from your shoulder.
"Ow, ow, ow," You mutter, half turning to offer more of your shoulder to Bucky.
"Sorry," Bucky mumbles trying to detach Alpine’s claws; but she'd lift a paw to re-attach it to you shoulder again. What had gotten into her?
With Alpine’s distraction, Apollo sinks his pin-needle teeth into Bucky's leg. Bucky curses and looks down, you fluster and are about to ask what happened when Alpine slinks lower and leaps from your chest; her back legs pushing off you hard enough to send your back into Bucky’s chest. You stumble slightly, and thanks to his training, Bucky catches your hips to steady you. He looks down at you with concern and your head tilts back to look up at him wide eyed and flustered.
The cats have disappeared from beside you both. It's just you and Bucky in the middle of your apartment. The silence is palpable but not uncomfortable. You both are taking in the other's features; truly looking at one another. It isn't until a loud meow snaps you both out of your thoughts.
Bucky releases your hips, blushing and mumbling an apology. You stand up straighter, blushing equally red, also mumbling an apology. Bucky's eyes drift to where the meow came from, only to see Alpine and Apollo sat side by side, watching their parents' interaction.
"I think we've been had," Bucky says, pointing at them. His lips twitch into a small smile and you follow his finger to the cats, whose tails are flicking impatiently.
You sigh, setting your hands on your hips. "I knew they were planning something."
Bucky chuckles. "She's never done that before."
"I wish I could say Apollo hasn't," You smile sheepishly over at Bucky and he can feel himself smiling back.
"He is a little bastard." Bucky glances down at his jeans that have a few small holes from Apollo's teeth and claws.
"But he's my little bastard," you chuckle jokingly and hold out a hand. "I'm Y/N."
Bucky pauses for a moment before shaking your hand delicately with his flesh hand, conscious of the serum and worried about accidentally crushing your hand. "Bucky."
There's another moment of silence as you shake hands, looking at eachother. Bucky watches you swallow thickly and he clears his throat, dropping his hand from yours.
"I don't think the cats want to leave just yet," Bucky says, running a hand through his hair. He couldn't remember the last time he felt so.... bashful.
You glance at the cats, who look like they're trying very hard to be nonchalant.
"No, I don't think they want to leave their play date either." You comment, narrowing your eyes at Apollo before turning back to Bucky. "Would... you like to stay for a coffee?"
"Coffee sounds good, if you don't mind." Bucky smiles again and you smile back. Something inside of his chest twists, and heat creeps up his neck. He watches you move towards the kitchenette, your hand meeting with Alpine’s head as you pass by. Alpine’s eyes close as you scratch her head and she purrs loudly. Your saying something about sugar and milk and apologising for Apollo again but Bucky isn't listening.
There's something about the way Alpine is looking at him, the way her eyes blue blink slowly at him and look over to you, sitting proudly on the counter that reminds him of when she brings him mice. He shakes his head of the thought and rejoins the conversation with you.
Alpine and Apollo share a look; a look of smug triumph that's missed by their parents who are too busy chatting and standing close to on another. Apollo gives a short trill and nudges Alpine with his head. Alpine purrs gently in response. Their plan had succeeded.
You were most definitely better than a mouse.

A/N: Well, hello. This is my first official post of my own on tumblr. I won’t blather too much because there’s a pinned post explaining that this is my first rodeo.
The inspiration for this particular prompt came from the opening scene of 101 Dalmations (clearly). This also inspired another prompt - and maybe even a part three. 👀 (can you tell I loved writing this one?)
A/N 2 March 2025: Yeah this grew arms and legs 😌

Tumblr media
Four weeks later, you got another workday done. You feel your shadow following you as you slowly walk back home. Surprisingly, you’re not scared at all. If your secret admirer wanted to hurt you, he would’ve done it weeks ago.
Your back hurts, and your temples are pounding. Today wasn’t a good day. It was exhausting and drained all the energy from your body. You only want to get home and curl into a ball on your couch.
Lost in thoughts of your fluffy pillows, you almost step onto a cat’s tail. “Whoops, sweetie,” you squeak. One foot still in the air, you stare down at the cat.
“Aw, where did you come from?” You coo and crouch down to pet a white cat. The furball rubs its cheek into your calf, meowing loudly. “Are you hungry, sweetie? Hmm…you look like someone is taking good care of you.”
You carefully look at the nametag dangling from the cat’s collar. “Alpine,” you hum. “What a pretty name for a pretty cat.”
Smiling, you ruffle the cat’s fur. You wonder if the cat ran away. “Hmm, let’s see if there’s a phone number on your tag too.”
You’re about to pick the cat up when a deep voice calls its name. “Alpine, there you are,” the man says. He looks at you, holding his cat in your arms. “Miss, this is my cat.”
“Oh,” you giggle as he looks you up and down. “I thought Alpine got lost.” You carefully hand the cat to its owner. He said Alpine’s name, so you assume the cat belongs to him.
“You wanted to take care of Alpine,” the man suddenly says. He holds out his hand and tells you his name as his cat jumps onto his shoulder to curl around his neck. “You must excuse my cat. Sometimes Alpine just runs off to explore the town. The little punk always comes back, though, knowing the best food waits for them at home.”
He smiles, and your knees almost buckle. Just know you get the chance to drink his handsome features in. Stubbles frame his jaw. His eyes are bluer than the blue sky, and his hair is long and shaggy but well-kept.
“Your cat is very cute.” You giggle and twiddle your fingers. The man makes your heart flutter, and you don’t know why. “I hope Alpine never gets lost again.”
“If Alpine gets lost, I hope you’ll find my little punk next time too, miss.” His deep voice goes straight to your core. “They would be in good hands.”
“Anytime, sir,” you giggle like a schoolgirl. This man has you wrapped around his finger in no time. Your cheeks heat up at the way he looks at you. “Do you live around here?” You’re a little forward, but you cannot let this man slip through your fingers. “So, I can look for Alpine.”
“Bucky,” he says, offering his name again. “Call me Bucky, doll.” Bucky smiles and tells you that he lives in your neighborhood.
You stare at each other for a moment, letting the seconds tick by. It’s the perfect meet cute and you hope to see him again soon. “I have to go now, Bucky,” you say as you step closer to pat Alpine’s head. “Alpine, if you ever get lost, just come around.”
“Thanks again, doll,” Bucky says as he watches you pat his cat. His heart speeds up having you so close. He must take deep breaths to not pounce on you here and now. “Maybe I can invite you for coffee one day.”
“I’d like that,” you hastily reply. “How about I give you my number? If Alpine gets lost, you can give me a call and ask if I found your punk.”
“Yes,” Bucky says, a little too fast. “I mean, that’s a good idea.” He can’t give away the fact that he already has your phone number and all your personal information. “I hope you have a wonderful day.”
“You too,” you say while exchanging numbers with Bucky. “It was nice finally meeting you.”
Bucky watches you leave. He has a big smile on his face because your first meeting went well. Now he’s got the chance to invite you.
Tumblr media
You're still jittery from your encounter with Bucky. You pump up the volume to sing along to your favorite song. To hell with your neighbors today. They are loud as fuck most of the time, so you don’t give a shit if you disturb them.
You do a little dance and shake your ass. “Alpine and Bucky!” you giggle and squeal. “They looked so cute together. And his eyes…” You touch your heart and let yourself fall onto your bed. “Blue…so blue…”
Rolling over on your bed, you bury your face in your pillow. “He’s so pretty,” you snuggle into the pillow. “I bet he’d look cute between my legs.” You breathlessly moan his name, letting every letter roll off your tongue. “B U C K Y.”
Bucky presses his hand to his heart. It’s about to burst when you slip your hand into your pajama pants to touch yourself. His name is on your lips the whole time, and he cannot resist. Once again, his resolve crumbles, and he slips his hand into his sweatpants to slowly stroke his cock.
“Y/N,” he murmurs your name. “Baby doll, don't do this to me.”
Tonight, he doesn’t look away. His eyes are glued to the monitors on his walls to watch you touch your sweet pussy only for him. “Make yourself feel good, doll. Soon, I’ll make you feel good... ”
Tumblr media
You’re all smiling this morning. It doesn’t matter that it’s another workday or that your colleague is nagging about her job. She can’t ruin your mood.
Your encounter with Bucky still lingers in the back of your mind. Not only is he the most handsome man you've ever met, but he’s also so caring and sweet with his cat. He just can’t be a bad person.
“Why are you smiling the whole time? This job is shit. The coffee is shit. And our boss is shitty.” Your colleague snaps her fingers to get your attention. “Hello, did you even listen?”
“Hmm…maybe.” You shrug. “It’s a nice day, and I won’t let work drag me down. It’s weekend soon enough.”
“It’s only Monday,” she bemoans, looking at you for confirmation. “We have to work for four more days.”
“Only four more days.” You walk away, not wanting to listen to her any longer. Now that Bucky has your number, you hope he’ll call you soon to invite you for coffee.

Exploring the Hunku - By Jake Norton (part 2)
Tumblr media
When you find a field of sunpati, enjoy it!
Tumblr media
Peak 41 rises sharply above Kongme Dingma.
Winds abated, and we spent a stunning day alternating between rest and relaxation, fueling up with copious water and calories, handwashing clothes in icy streams and ourselves as well if we could stand it. Sam, Tshering, and I also spent a couple hours playing on a nearby ice flow, fixing a rope and practicing Sam’s technique with crampons and ice ax, ascending a line and rappelling the same. As expected, he was a natural, making it all seem like old hat, cruising up and down with a smile and confidence seasoned precisely with the right amount of fear and respect for the terrain waiting days ahead on the Amphu Laptsa.
And with that, Part 1 of our trek - the new trail from Chheskam to Kongme Dingma, the Mahakulung Muddhi-Kongmedingma Trail - was finished. The next day we’d enter the alpine, trekking along an established, but seldom used, trail through alpine lakes under serrated behemoths, then up and over the high Amphu Laptsa pass and into the Khumbu. The days before were, as I’d hoped, spectacular, replete with everything a trek in the Himalaya can deliver (but often does not): scenery, solitude, adventure, great company, and memories galore. And, of course, some exploration.
Tumblr media
Moonrise over Chamlang from Kongme Dingma.
As mentioned above, we didn’t chart new territory, make a daring first ascent, or add new data to the geographic lexicon. But, we did explore, all of us. We explored areas that were new to us, new to most. We explored new ways to help the villages of Mahalulung - and the thousands of souls who live there - develop and establish sustainable trekking and the income that goes with it. And, perhaps most saliently, we explored ourselves, pushing our own boundaries even just a little, probing the possible, exiting comfort zones and finding joy through hardship, toil, laughter, and camaraderie. Like TS Eliot wrote in Little Gidding back in the last century, an ode less to Magellanic exploration and more to that of the personal:
We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time. Through the unknown, remembered gate When the last of earth left to discover Is that which was the beginning… - TS Eliot, Little Gidding excerpt from "Four Quartets"
Stay tuned for Part 3 of this story - the Hunku alpine zone, Amphu Laptsa, and Khumbu - coming soon.

Hey not to be demanding but you know in Wildflower, it would be interesting of Y/N asks Oscar if he talked to Lily like that when they had sex. Like that would be an interesting thing to explore. Is the degradation sex talk an Oscar thing? Or does Oscar just talk like that to Y/N? Why? Is it because Lily is a wifey material to his eyes? Someone he cant get turned on degrading. And he talks like that to Y/N during sex because he feels like he can? That that’s her level and that’s how he sees her- someone to fuck and use? While he sees Lily as this “respectable” ( i dont know what word to use) woman, the kind you take home and introduced to your parents?
Might be a heavy topic to open but I think it’s interesting. You know sometimes how men are completely different people to their wives than to their mistresses? Like they show up to their wives differently than they do to their mistresses because they view them differently. That kind of topic sounds interesting to explore and unpack. I dont mind Oscar looking like an ass because I’m sure your writing will make his character nuanced.
Hi anon, this is not demanding at all! I am so thankful that people care enough about my stories to actually analyze it and bring up really cool points like this.
To be honest, I didn’t even think of it through that lens. I’ve read a lot of Oscar x reader fics and the concept of him being into rough/degrading stuff is one that has shown up a surprising amount of times, so it felt like to me that it was just kind of an accepted piece of fanon? I wanted to include it because I did want to highlight the lack of love between them while keeping the intensity of it, because it’s really hard for me to write vanilla sex where there’s no love or tenderness (because then it’s just like, the mechanics of sex rather than anything emotional and that’s sooooo boring to me personally).
I talked about this in another ask too but I also want to show a more sympathetic side to Oscar in future chapters, because while he is an absolute ass to reader, he is a flawed and just a broken human being at the end of it all. The problem is that he’s trying to avoid accepting that in his relationship with the reader instead of actually accepting what has happened and trying to really heal.
I think that dynamic is fascinating and heartbreaking, though! I think I might explore it in another fic because it honestly reminds me more of how I write Franco? I was wanting to do an alpine social media manager reader x Franco one shot, and I can imagine scenes of them hooking up at the paddock but then he goes off with some model or something because he “has a reputation to uphold” or something like that. Something perhaps the people would be interested in? 👀

Lugano - [Liv x Luca]
Tumblr media
A/N: I started this a few weeks ago and hit a wall. Something about being surrounded by the early church crowd at the coffee shop this morning inspired me... Once again, thank you to my ice vanilla oat milk latte for the most 🫨 smut I have written in a while. Enjoy!
Word Count: 4.1k
Tumblr media
Last time Livia Meier was in Lugano, she was ten years old, skipping, hand in hand with her dad after crushing a huge container of gelato.
She remembers because she tripped on the cobblestone streets and had burst into tears at the sight of her bloody, skinned knees. Her dad had carried her the rest of the way back to the hotel where he took meticulous care of her wounds, saving the day for the rest of the family. The reason Livy remembers is she got a second cup of pistachio gelato for being so brave. Across the street from the hotel she will share with her now fiancee is that same gelato shop. She smiles at the memory as Luca checks into their free hotel stay at Kurhaus Cademario Hotel & Spa.
July in Switzerland is the perfect time to visit the area, so when Luca was offered a free weekend in exchange for some promotion on social media, Liv begged him to agree. This type of promotion isn’t his favorite way to make money, but the smile on Liv’s face had him saying yes before he could think through the pros and cons. Not that there are many cons.
The hotel and surrounding area is stunning, unlike anything Luca has experience. It will be the perfect break after seeing their closest friends and family. Liv and Luca have been back in Switzerland for two of their planned six weeks. Luca has been training hard with Swiss hockey, including Lio, and Liv has demanded they spend more time having fun than they have in previous off-seasons. After all, they have never been home as fiancees. It would be a wasted moment to not spoil themselves in luxury and champagne.
A hand comes to Liv’s stomach, pulling her back into Luca’s warm, inviting body.
“Ready, baby?” He asks after a kiss to the shell of her ear.
“Yeah. We have to get gelato tonight.”
“Mhm. Whatever you want.” Luca murmurs, tugging her ear lobe with his teeth. Liv chuckles. She’s wearing the perfume that makes him a little stupid. It seems to already be working.
The moment they get into their room, Liv throws open the balcony doors. Their room is situated on the corner of the hotel, facing Lake Lugano below. The lake is shared water between Italy and Switzerland, offering the best of cuisine, views, and climate. The alpine sun is bright and feels consoling on her skin. Like a hug from home compared to the unbearable burn of the California sunshine. Luca goes over to the table where an assortment of snacks, chilled champagne and a note are waiting for them.
“Aw, they hope we make sweet memories in this room.”
“Sweet, huh?” Liv smirks playfully over her shoulder at him.
“They think you’re a good girl, Livia.” Luca muses at her. Liv’s eyebrows squiggle together.
“I am.” She insists to his sinister look as he walks towards her, stalking like a predatory animal as she puts her hands on the railing of the balcony. Luca snatches her hips into his big paws, pinning her in place between him and the metal.
“I’ll be sure to remind you of that while you’re riding me later.” He mumbles against her neck. His teeth nip at her pulse afterwards.
“Not yet.” She murmurs at the way he tries to turn her hips so they are front to front. “We have to go explore.”
“Whatever you want.” Luca concedes to her desires as per usual. Liv could get used to this puppy compliance. But knowing Luca, it won’t last.
“Let’s walk and explore. I could use some movement after the train ride.” Luca nods, releasing her form her pin and offering his hand for hers. Once their fingers are secure, they head out of the room.
Livy has visited Lugano a few times growing up in Switzerland, but Luca has not been before. She is excited to walk him around the beautiful city and show him some places she grew up going to like the chocolate museum, local restaurants and the gorgeous, unique blended architecture of Old Town.
“We obviously spent a lot of time here growing up.” Liv chuckles, noting the expensive stores along the shopping district including Hermes and Gucci they’re passing by.
“You and your siblings must have been the best dressed kids in Jersey.”
“Yeah.” Liv widens her eyes. “I blame my dad putting Lio in Dior for why he was such an ass growing up.” Luca laughs loudly, swinging their joined hands as they continue on. He brings his hand up above their heads, twirling her once before urging her to fall into his side for a quick kiss.
“My dad tried, but my mom much preferred to shop for us at TJ Maxx and Kohl’s.” Luca shares.
“I doubt my mom even knows those stores exist.” Liv chuckles. She loves her mama but she is fancy and expensive.
“I’m hungry. Could you eat?” Luca asks as they pass by a restaurant with the smells of basil and tomatoes wafting out. Liv nods her head in agreement to his request.
Liv and Luca stroll down to Porto Bella to sit on their patio. It’s currently between lunch and dinner so there is no problem getting a spot on the lake front. They get a bottle of crisp white wine and split bruschetta along with a seafood linguini adorned with muscles and calamari. Luca eats most of their pasta, but the bites Liv does get he feeds directly between her lips.
“Anything else you want to see today?” Luca asks Liv as he tosses his napkin onto the table. He puts his hand on Liv’s thigh, pushing her yellow dress up a smidge as he rubs her skin. Tomorrow is their big day of sightseeing and boat tours and water related things. Today was meant to be a travel day and bonus time compared to the rest of their trip itinerary. So, Liv will happily go back to the room if that’s what Luca wants.
“I’m good to head back, if that’s what you want?”
“I’m dying to take a nap.” Luca says honestly, followed by a yawn. He was up early this morning to train a final time with her brother before their vacation.
“I don’t think I’m ever going to recover from how crazy this timezone swing is from L.A.”
“It is pretty brutal.” Liv acknowledges. Her and Luca have already been talking about how unsure they are with coming home every off-season. They love Switzerland, and it is more Liv’s home than Luca’s, but they lose so many days between the travel, jet lag and packing that it feels like a huge excursion rather than a simple trip home. She understands why her parents stop in Jersey before continuing on to California for their visits.
“Can you believe my dad did that every year before he went to Jersey?”
“No.” Luca says honestly, tossing some cash on the table to hand to the waiter. “At least we can fly direct from LAX.” Luca admits. “I guarantee he had to connect, especially back then.”
“Yeah. I think he usually went to LAX then up…” Livy shrugs.
“It’s funny you’re back in California now. In a different place, but still. Maybe you could have grown up in San Jose if things had worked out differently.”
“I’m not sure I would be alive if my dad hadn’t been traded to Jersey.” Liv chuckles. “Mama was hard to get.” Luca says nothing. He doesn’t have to because his smirk says it all: Emma Meier is still way out of Timo’s league.
“I’m glad you’re alive, baby.” He slides his hand further up her thigh, finger tips dipping towards the inner seam of her pale pink panties. “Glad your mom threw your dad a bone.” He says as he kisses her cheek, heading towards her ear. “I appreciate them bringing the love of my life into this world so we can be here together.”
“Mmm.” Liv murmurs, sighing happily as he kisses the needy spot behind her ear. She brings a hand to his face, stroking his cheek as he sucks her skin gently. They’re interrupted with the waiter returning with Luca’s change. He tucks his wallet back into his pocket, then holds a hand out for Liv to take.
Hand in hand, they head back to their hotel and quickly fall together into a tired heap in the bed. Liv ditches her dress on the floor, leaving her in only panties while Luca strips down to his boxer briefs. Then they crawl into the heavenly cloud of a hotel bed and fall asleep to the melodic sounds of a Swiss summer outside.
When they awaken, both of them feel refreshed and ready for more quality time together. Luca has been eyeing the private hot tub since he saw it on the website he was sent to encourage him to take the sponsorship. He pulls Liv’s underwear off her body, replacing it with her white bathing suit patterned by delicate blue flowers.
“Like you aren’t just going to take this off later?” She nuzzles his nose when they kiss after he finished the last tie on her top.
“Yeah, but first, let’s enjoy how good it looks on you.” Liv shivers at the look in his eyes, then tries to catch her breath as he walks across the room.
Luca pours them both champagne in the plastic cups provided, then takes in his own personal show of Liv as she eases into the hot tub. Her included, the views are gorgeous from their corner room. The sides of the balcony rise up, shielding them from their room neighbors, but not from the other spaces across the street or down below. The sun is disappearing behind the buildings to the West and without it, the mountain breeze feels a tad chilly. Goosebumps ripple out over Liv’s skin while she sinks into the hot water.
As the sun begins a slow decent on the day, Liv and Luca crush through their chilled bottle of champagne. Luca hops out after an hour, ordering another bottle and immediately pouring more for Liv. She knows he is trying to get her drunk and doesn’t mind. He loves the pink that dusts her cheeks and the way she curls into him like an affectionate pet with sweet sighs and loose inhibitions. Livy is happy to play into his sinful motives.
It’s not until half the second bottle of champagne has disappeared that he begin to lure her in.
Luca rubs his fingers into the back of her neck as Livy’s head lulls slightly to the side. Then with his eyes on her, he tugs one end of her tie, letting it out slowly. Livy bites her lip, a thudding pulse spreads into the apex of her thighs as he glides the tie completely out. The slippery fabric gives away under the weight of her breasts, slipping them into the bubbled water. Luca’s brown eyes drag down from hers, past her throat, to the dusty pink of her nipples. His hand responsible for the untying, drags down her bicep to skirt over the stiffening skin in the center of her breast. Livy chews her bottom lip harder as each knuckles make a pass over her nipple.
“Lookin’ so pretty right now, baby. I can’t even wait.” Luca speaks, his tone coated in need. He scoops her up with an arm around her back, dragging her across the empty space in front of him. His mouth immediately goes to her right breast, sucking her nipple between his lips. Liv’s eyes flutter shut. Her head knocks back and she sighs her approval to the pink hued sky.
“I think people can see us.” She insists as his other hand comes to her left breast, thumbing her nipple there while he keeps sucking the right. What had she been saying? “Oh, that feels…” She loses her train of thought as her hips rock into his. He swells beneath her bikini bottoms, making everything hotter and wetter.
“Yeah? Should we give ‘em a show?” He asks, drunk on lust as he releases her nipple with a pop. He presses into her lower back, grinding her hips into his erection again as he moves to her left breast. He places his thumb on the right one then makes Livy’s body shake when he sucks in rhythm on the other side. In between each suck, he rolls his tongue around the edges of her nipple, then pokes the center. Liv’s mouth drops open and a loud moan rips through the Swiss air.
“Luca.”
“You’re gonna have to be a little quieter, baby.” Luca shushes her gently. “If we’re gonna get away with this.” He teases, kissing her perked nipple, then pulling away to get a peak at her drunken look. “Unless you don’t want to get away with it?”
“Keep going.” Liv demands him, threading her fingers through his hair and pushing his face back to her breast. Luca indulges her for a moment, then pulls back slowly, taking stock of her. She’s already gotten away with bossing him around a few times in this day. And with the look darkening his features at how needy and desperate she is, Liv can feel the tide shifting between them.
He draws back, taking his hands off her completely. His big arms stretch in a wide wingspan along the edge of the hot tub. His finger tips barely hit the bubbling water as his brown eyes regard her.
“You want it your way? Then work for it.” He says it with a chiding tone. Awareness at the turning tide has Liv shivering on his lap.
“I-I..” Liv trails off, folding her bottom lip into her mouth. She’s delirious from his mouth and the hazy lust pulsing through her core.
“Don’t pout at me, baby. I was doing it my way and you thought you knew better, so now you’re going to finish it.”
“Luca.” She wines, hoping to pull him back under her spell.
“Livia.” Her name has never sounded so good in that tone. She could come just hearing him whisper that into her ear for the next few minutes. But she isn’t about to disappoint him on their first night here.
“Well, you started taking my bikini off, so finish it.” She mouths off to him. The only indication that Luca is impressed is a slight up tick of his left eyebrow.
“No.”
Liv pauses, waiting for him to say more. He doesn’t. And somehow that’s more authoritative than if he did.
Tentatively, Liv begins to roll her hips again, forward and back, up and down. Luca’s brown eyes remain on hers, dark and deceptive, hiding whatever he is feeling inside his brain. Liv pouts, Luca responds by gliding a hand up her chest to grip her throat gently.
“Work for it.” He whispers the words languidly, almost drunken like, making her pussy flutter against his thick cock. His hands slips away again, retreating to the edge of the hot tub.
Liv lets her legs float up, wrapping them around his waist. She hooks her arms around his neck then begins to kiss along his jaw. As her lips assault his face, her hips begin to roll, finding a tempo and motion that eases the heaviness in her folds.
“Oh.” She sighs into his ear as she pauses her kisses at the hinge of his jaw. Her nose smooshes into his cheek as her hips roll faster. The build is a ride she enjoys. Her eyes close and she can feel the climb like each click up hill on a beach-side roller coaster. “Ohhhh.” She extends out deeper and louder this time. Luca still doesn’t touch her, but she can feel how much harder he is breathing beneath her. He twists his fingers into fists on the hot tub edge and turns his face slightly into hers.
“Tell me how it feels to use my cock.”
“Amazing. The best. Love your cock.” Liv cries out as she presses her covered folds into his bulge harder.
“Not gonna come until I say you are.” He reminds her. He brings a hand into the water, putting it over his bulge so she is riding on his knuckles instead.
“I’ve been good.”
“You’ve been pushing the limits all day, Livy.” Luca reminds her. “Need to remind you who you belong to.” Liv’s toes curl and both her and Luca feel the way her pussy flutters at his authoritarian tone.
“You like when I tell you what to do? Take control of you, hm?”
“Yeah.” She whines. Luca’s nostrils flare powerfully at her admission. Both his hands come to her hips forcing her to the side so she rides his thighs instead.
“Good. Go ahead now, baby.” He encourages. “Come right here.”
Livy Meier clings to Luca Fiala’s neck as she rolls and bucks her core over his thick thigh. His praise is the guide to her movements, building with the way his words get dirtier and dirtier through her climb. He starts sweet and encouraging.
“You look so beautiful up there, baby.”
“Talk to me, sweet girl. Tell me what you need.”
As her breath increases and her hips falter slightly, he gives her the push she needs to chase her release.
“Keep going, Livia. Come on this thigh if you want my cock next.”
Liv’s head sways forward, Luca leans a bit into her, allowing her forehead to stick there as she get delirious with the need for her release.
“Please touch me.” She begs him.
“You know the rules.” His lips brush her ear as he speaks to her. The desire in his voice is thick, filling with a similar need that screams in her clit.
“You’re going to be my perfect girl tonight. Gonna have to give you an A for all this extra credit you’re doing, beautiful. Keep this pace.” She can feel the flex of his thigh beneath her and she groans, pulling up from her crouch. “Little harder now, baby.” She braces a hand on the hot tub behind him and gives it everything she’s got. “C’mon now. Don’t make me wait all night to have you.” His voice is a harsh but desperate whisper now. “Now.” He snaps at Livy and her body responds. Hitting her peak pulls a deep groan from her fiancé as he watches her come undone on top of him. His brown eyes melt, then he nips at her mouth.
“Did such a good job, sweetheart.” Livy jolts when his thumbs circle her nipples as a reward.
She settles back, easing off him to catch her breath. Luca’s lips come to the valley between her breasts. He brings his hands to the sides of her chest, smooshing her breasts together to kiss over the creamy mountains and help her regulate, easing her into a heavy afterglow for a moment. Her nails scratch into his scalp, fingering the slightly damp strands.
As if that’s a sign, Luca moves his hands under her thighs, standing with her in his arms. He turns them, then lays her over the edge of the hot tub, onto the surrounding deck. He wastes no time in pushing his fingers through the bottoms of her bikini, rushing them off her legs. The tie of his boxer briefs is tugged apart next, then he palm his shaft in one hand, the other thumbing through her folds. Livy trembles and arches at his exploratory touch.
“Can’t believe you’re mine, Livy.” He says in awe of her, eyes stroking across her skin, soaking her in as he plays with her. “Every day I get to touch you is the best day of my life.” He continues, leaning over her to speak against her lips. “I love you more than anything else in this world. You know this?”
“Yeah.” She responds, gaze hooded by her burdened eye lids and the build of her next orgasm.
“You gonna come when I tell you to again?”
“Yes.” She whimpers as he slides a finger into her entrance. He curls it, stroking her spongey button until she clamps around him hard. “Fuck.” She sputters as his thumb rubs tender circles around her clit. Luca makes her feel wrecked, whole, and out of control all at once. He pushes her limits in a way that makes her feel safe and sexy. They’re connected in a way that doesn’t make sense but does all in the same breath. To describe it is impossible- only that when he takes her this way it feels like recharging their extraordinary connection.
The warmth from her core dashes in vibrating waves down her limbs, then with two more twirls and twists, white explodes behind Liv’s closed eyelids. Luca’s mouth presses over hers, eating the uninhibited moans from her lungs. Livy is dizzy when he pulls his mouth away to watch her eyes as she melts beneath him again. A smug smile spreads across his face, then he peels her off the deck, getting her onto all fours.
Previously, the position would have been out of the question with the full exposure to the outside air. But Luca has shoved any thoughts of modesty from Livy with her previous two orgasms. His weeping head hits her folds, stroking down to her entrance and rushing inside as gently as Luca can in his feverish state.
Livy reaches back for him with one hand. Luca responds by pinning both her wrists to her lower back with one hand. Livy whines as his rough fucks start to rub her against the deck. The wood scratches gently at her nipples turning everything up a few notches as she sputters to breathe. Luca’s pace is deliciously unrestrained, exactly what Livy was hoping for as he takes what’s his.
Only his.
“That’s it, sweetheart. Doing so good, Livy. Such a good girl.” His thumb strokes across her wrists in a sweet, encouraging gesture even as his tempo turns depraved.
“Yours.” Livy moans into the wood of the deck. “I’m yours, babe.”
Luca rewards her with two fingers on her clit. She feels him lean over her, nosing her hair off the back of her neck for a kiss there.
“Can’t get enough of this pussy. Made for me.” He groans out to her. Livy flutters around his cock at the praise.
“Yes.” She sputters out as he leans over her. His chest sticks to her wet back as his hips work into her deep, at an angle that has him feeling impossibly thick. “Shit. Please?” She mumbles, gasping for breath as the pressure builds, unbearable as Luca considers her requests to grant her permission.
“For me only, yeah?”
“Yeah!” Livy promises him.
“For the rest of your life?”
“Yes, Luca.”
“Come, Livy.” He commands and she allows herself to collapse into how good her body feels. Her hips widen and she focuses in on every stroke of him. Her muscles relax, loosening to call her final orgasm to her. It washes over both of them, gripping Luca until his thrusts become jerky and he spills his own release into her, marking her in another way only he gets to do.
“Never done that in Lugano, no?” Luca slaps her ass cheek as he pulls out.
“No.” Livy mumbles, bringing her arms under her face after Luca releases them.
Luca situates himself back into his board shorts, then climbs out, leaving Livy for a moment to grab a robe. Livy crawls towards him on her hands and knees, bringing a devilish glint back into his eyes for a moment. Then those same eyes soften, seeing her cute, teeth chattering yawn, forcing her nose to scrunch adorably.
“You are so fucking cute, baby.” He murmurs, helping her arms into the soft, white cloth after lazily toweling her off. Once the belt is clinched around her waist, he brings her into his arms. His nose buries into her hair as she snuggles into his chest. “And gorgeous. And sexy. And smart. And kind.” He says each endearment with a kiss. “I love being home with you.”
A small smile lifts her lips.
Livy thought they were coming home this summer. She thought they would get here and she would feel even more complete, somehow.
Turns out the only thing she needs to feel that is the man who sways her in the Swiss, summer night.

Soldier of Heaven Chapter 1
I spent like 3 days editing this, but at least I finally have chapter one of my fem!Shep/Kaidan fic. Taking place after the events of ME3, we're going to explore just what happened to our dear Commander Amira Shepard and her love, Kaidan Alenko. I would like to thank @the-californicationist for putting up with my rambling, and especially @tealenko for helping me work out some of the ideas I had. Wouldn't have done it without you two, this goes out to you!
Each chapter, including the name of the fic itself, is named after a song. I will update the playlist with each chapter so you can listen along with me. Enjoy!
“I won't be coming home
I won't be going anywhere
I will guard this post forever
Here on the alpine slope, where I did my final stand, I shall remain
Among the ice and snow that binds me to this mountain”
Soldier of Heaven-Sabaton
It took close to two months in the aftermath of the Reaper War for things to return to any semblance of normalcy.  While the makeshift hospitals were still full, they did not seem so utterly overwhelmed as when the Catalyst was fired, finally eradicating the Reaper threat and ending the horrid cycle.  Much of humanity’s home was destroyed, yet the overall mood in London was one of optimism or cautious enthusiasm at the society they are rebuilding.
Amira Shepherd, the famed Savior of the Citadel, first human Spectre and one of the best biotics the galaxy has ever seen was one of the people still in hospital.  The doctors and nurses had no idea who she was, and Amira wanted to keep it that way.  Best they could figure was she was probably an Alliance soldier, but it was hard to be certain when she would not speak to any of them.  The combination of watching a man she considered to be a father figure to her-Admiral Anderson die right in front of her, the comedown from the six months that she had spent going from here to kingdom come gathering everything she possibly could to ensure the continued survival of everyone in the Milky Way, and, perhaps most heartbreakingly, saying her final goodbyes to her beloved Kaidan took its toll on her.
Having survived 3 different suicide missions, curing the genophage and watching Mordin die, saving Kaidan on Virmire, even her fraught reunion with him on Horizon was distressing.  She has seen enough trauma, heartbreak, and death to last her many lifetimes (quite literally, in her case). She could still recall every second of her final moments with him.  Helping him up after being fired upon with that beam, even forcing him onto the Normandy even as he begged her not to make him go and his anguish as she left him was the worst of all of it.  She loved him so deeply she made him go, although it broke her heart to do so.
That did not make the aftermath any easier.  After she had fired the Catalyst, she had very little recollection of what it was like in the midst of all that rubble.  Her armor was in pieces and near nonexistent and the burns and injuries she had, she almost couldn’t feel.  All she could remember was the feeling deep within her that she had to get back to him, no matter what.  Despite the risks to what she knew had to be incredibly fragile health, she did her best to keep a biotic field about her in the hope search and rescue would find her.  Dead or alive, she owed it to Kaidan to know how she ended.  Not another Alchera, not on her watch.
From what she had been told by the medical staff, she was in the smoldering rubble for around 3 days.  By the time she was found she was incredibly weak and in what she could only imagine was a rough state.  Bad enough to the point where the staff at the hospital, full to the brim with Alliance doctors, nurses and support staff had no idea she was Commander Shepard.  This fact suited her just fine.
For some unknown reason they were keeping her there, so in a show of defiance, she kept her damn mouth shut.  She filled her time not in PT with a sketchbook and canvas a well meaning woman visiting her friend at work gave her.  It’s not right dear, you being here all alone. She was one of the only people in the few months she had been in hospital who was not interested in making her talk.  I understand dear if you don’t want to say anything she said to her on her first visit.  She enjoyed the companionship anyway.
This sweet older woman was completely and utterly empathetic, expecting nothing in return.  Selfless too, visiting her.  She seemed to have a way with, what did Kaidan call them? “Old soldiers.” Huh.  Guess those words ring truer than she thought.  When the woman, Elizabeth, she eventually learned was her name, had come to visit, she always had a mug of tea and biscuits with her, armed to the teeth with even more art supplies for her.
Elizabeth would sit with her in her room, chattering away about everything and nothing at all.  She heard stories of her kids and grandkids, all gone now.  She heard about her troubles finding ingredients for the teas and biscuits she brought with her on her daily visits.  More than once the doctors, nurses, therapists and technicians chided her for being rude in not talking to her friend who was so kind in visiting someone she had never met before.  Elizabeth came to her defense more than once, shutting that attitude towards her with a fury only known to a mama bear protecting her cubs.
It was on one of these visits, Elizabeth chatting away while Amira worked on a scene of her and Kaidan’s last goodbye, that Elizabeth had said something particularly interesting.  “Apparently some Admiral is even in the area today.  Think he might be visiting some of the Alliance folk.”  Hearing this, Amira felt the blood in her veins run cold.  Beyond hope she prayed it both was and was not Admiral Hackett.  Desperate for word of her crew on the SR-2, she studiously focused her attention back on the pad in her lap, whilst Elizabeth prattled on and left her to get lost in her thoughts.  It was something she did a lot since she was found.
Okay, she was lying to herself.  She knew full well why they were keeping her there.  The combination of how heavy she used her biotics in her final moments before she made it to the Citadel, the injuries she sustained, and lying half dead (well, mostly dead if she was being honest with herself) using the very last of her reserves to emit a strong enough blue glow to be found had completely destroyed her implant.  The cybernetics and nanites Cerberus had given her had protected much of her fragile state and had served to speed up the healing process.
In order to distract herself from the train of thought that thinking of Cerberus always led her down (the awful reunion with Kaidan on Horizon, almost losing Garrus on Omega, the suicide mission that was the Omega 4 relay…) she instead forced herself to use her famed laser focus on running down the list of why she had not been identified, her pencil stilling against the pad of paper in front of her.  Feeling a sense of calm overcome her after Elizabeth’s seemingly innocent remark at the visiting Alliance brass, she ran through the logistics she knew by heart.
During and after any skirmish, battle or war, communications were in some form of disarray.  In this case, they were all but destroyed.  To that end, she knew connections to Alliance systems in particular were nonexistent.
When they had to replace her L3 implant with a highly experimental L5 type model similar to what she retrieved from Grissom knowing that the logistics of obtaining a safe and extraordinarily well tested L3 implant like what she had previously (she groaned internally at that, it would be her third damn implant) it was so badly damaged they couldn’t easily trace it back to the Alliance database, if they had the access at all.
With so few resources, they did not have a chance to thoroughly scan her like they would have done pre-war.
Over half of Earth’s population was dead, and with medical staff on or near the front lines their numbers had been particularly affected. With so few staff, and an extraordinary number of patients to tend to, she was able to stay safely under the radar.
Those who needed tending to number in the many thousands.  As fond as the medical field and Alliance tended to be of rules and protocol, the ability to follow such things went out the window in wartime, which she knew very well.
She thought of these 5 things, over and over, during the course of her visit with her friend.  It distracted her and calmed her nerves.  Anxieties she had become all too familiar with since Alchera reared their ugly head once more, however, when she heard a flutter of activity outside the small room she had been given.  She looked towards the door, with a mix of fear and well-disguised terror in her eyes in contrast to the awe Elizabeth had held in hers.  Elizabeth’s heart softened when she looked upon Amira, the older woman coming up to her to place a weathered hand on her bare shoulders.
Listening to the conversation in the hall with her well-practiced hearing, she heard a very familiar voice talking with the nurse that was particularly horrid to her over the course of her stay.  Prone to letting her mind wander since the war's end, she thought of all the ways this woman had tried to goad her into talking.  Attempts at withholding food, being more aggressive in the treatments she was giving, waking her at odd hours or abruptly, the list goes on.  She guessed that was part of why Elizabeth had visited her so often, after the first time she witnessed “the wicked harpy” draw blood with a rather vicious looking needle that left a pretty purple bruise at her elbow.
“Oh, how did you enjoy your visit sir?  We have had a great many Alliance soldiers grace our halls.  I myself have taken care of many of them.” She could hear their muffled footsteps walking away from the corner of the hospital. Elizabeth had given her shoulder a gentle squeeze, rolling her eyes. If by “care” she means acting like a wicked harpy armed with a syringe full of medi-gel, then by all means, she took great care of you dear. The two people in the corridor were unfortunately not far enough away, because the Alliance Admiral had heard some of their words and turned back around, heading right toward the door.  To her.
“Oh no sir, you wouldn’t want to go in there.  This silly woman doesn’t bother to talk to anyone.  No one knows her name and no one comes to visit either so clearly whoever she had in her life either is dead or she was so miserable to them like she is to us they just don’t care.”  She giggled a bit at that, letting just enough of her facade crack that the man's steps came to an abrupt halt and turned about face towards her.  Coming close enough to the windowed door, Amira’s eyes widened.  She knew that silhouette anywhere.
With a stern voice, he addressed Harpy.  “With all due respect ma’am, you were fully apprised of the reason for my visit today.  I did not put up with your company for the last hour for nothing.  I did not stand next to you blabbering about your skills as I visited my men and women, many of whom were under my command or under the command of a good friend who is also missing.  If there is a soldier in there under MY command, I will see her.”  Despite the stuttered protests of Harpy, trying to recover her “reputation”, he swiftly held out a hand to push open the door.
Amira froze and dropped her pencil.  Clearly startled, Elizabeth raised her stature and wrapped both hands around her shoulders, standing protectively over her adopted charge.  “And just who in the hell are you?  Barging in here like a raging krogan like that, have you no manners man?”  Amira placed a hand over hers and shrugged them off, standing up.  The man’s eyes widened.  Yes, they knew each other very well.
“Commander Shepard?”

Bio older sibling to Hat Kid and just. Adopted Bow Kid and Timmy as siblings along the way to in-game events
Edit: Tumblr, how did you fuck this up? Why did you move my images??? Anyways I fixed it, all is as it should be.
More Info-Dumping below cut :]
So! I don't really know how Lars and Hat Kid (Harriet, Harry, or just Hat or Hattie in this AU) ended up travelling space but something happened because here they are
During their explorations of planets, they found Bow, a young orphan living on the streets of her hometown, and Timmy, a boy with a not so great home life (understatement).
Their spaceship is basically the same, with another couple of rooms.
Hattie's room, now shared with Bow, is the same but with more furniture and decoration for the latter kid. Hat still has her lil' diary hideout because sometimes the girl just needs some space to be on her own. Lars is the only person on the ship allowed in with permission
Timmy's room is in the basement, as an area renovated and repurposed to be a room. Think the room with the Alpine Skyline Warp Telescope. Harry did argue at first, but was eventually persuaded in the end. I'm not gonna explain, that'll have me writing an entire scene
Lars's room is the attic, where the Finale Warp Telescope is. They repurposed the attic in the first year or so of living on the ship so that they could have their own room.
Anyways, let's go onto the game events!
It all starts relatively the same, the kids wake up, Lars sleeping through the first alarm. Timmy and Hat, knowing how to handle the ship on their own, get started for travelling through the day when, Uh Oh! Mafia!
A couple of five minute alarms later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Due to damages on the ship, the first couple of Time Pieces on the ship don't warp the kids back to the ship, but once Lars fixes it (and the hole in the window) it works again. After some talking, they start a plan:
Timmy, being a bit more tech oriented and avoidant of most conflicts, will stay on the ship to locate the Time Pieces while the other three track down and retrieve them, Tim relaying to them through earpieces and walkie talkie things. Mustache Girl still goes on the ship to plan Mafia Takedown with the kids, but Lars, back on Earth, remains unaware of their adventure until last second. ("Great. A kid working against us to gather the Time Pieces. Just what we needed.")
After that fiasco, the girls aren't allowed outside of Lars's sight when on field.
Which, of course is quickly disobeyed when Lars loses them at Dead Bird Studio, finding them again while DJ Grooves and the Conductor are roping Bow and Harry respectively into their movies
After a bit of persuading (the girls to Lars) and threatening (Lars to the directors) the girls are allowed to help the birds while their mostly legal guardian checks out Subcon Forest.
If you've played/watched the game, you can guess how that turns out
Anyways, a couple more things I wanna point out is, in my mind, the kids go on the cruise while Lars looks around Nyakuza Metro ("I feel safer leaving yall on a boat than wandering around a bunch of speeding vehicles"). That leaves them all to got around the Skylines together. Family Fun!
Anyways, that's about all I've got on that. Idk if I'll make more posts about this, but I just wanted to get all of my thoughts out in text

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog!
My partner incited me to make a blog because it would be fun, and I agree it seems like a great way to interract with people and make friends. So here goes:
My name is Katia Courras, I am 21, use She/Her and I was born in Couriway in Kalos as my mom was from there but we later moved to live in Mahogany Town in Johto. I became Johto Champion two years ago and I have been chosen to replace Koga who retired this year. You can now challenge me as the Elite Four fire specialist if you take up the Johto league!
I saw people post their teams in their introductions so I will do the same here in broad strokes. You can check them out on the Johto League website as well! I also saw that people are being flamed (hah) here for not giving nicknames, so if you feel some type of negative way about me not nicknaming my team, feel free to challenge us LOLOL!!
Anyway the team consists of: Flareon, Arcanine, Ninetails, Magmortar, Typhlosion and Entei.
Typhlosion was my starter and I fell in love with the line and their soft coat and cute faces. This line makes amazing exploration and alpinism partners. My babyphlosion is very curious, extremely relaxed and an amazing napping buddy. He is quite territorial and protective and unlive most of my team, he is more of a petteable friend than an pet or battle companion to me.
Entei should be explained early here as I feel people might have the most to say about him. A lot of people feel some way about the hypothetical capture of legendaries and many people have had things to say about making him participate in my League carrier, however that is very obviously not something I am imposing on him. I already don't keep my Pokemon in balls 90% of the times, and Entei I simply don't. He also doesn't make the challenge impossible, he can very well be beaten with a good approach, he is definitely here to incite you to take your defence stats and status modifiers into account when you are preparing your League team.
Flareon is my smallest and most fiesty pokemon, and perhaps the most aloof despite the appearances. She is also the one people want to take pictures with the most and I am sorry to announce that, no, you cannot carry her in your arms. At best she will bite. At worse. Well.
Arcanine is very dynamic and enthusiastic Pokemon. He is a little territorial although less than Typhlosion, and was also the one in my team who took to the Elite Four situation the best. We have only been challenged a couple of times, but I was afraid that this form of batteling would be harder on them all physically and emotionally, as us Elite Four are not allowed more than a certain number of healing items (in order to be defeatable), but he was the one who struggled the least, even less than I did with this.
The last two are the ones people like/interract with the least which is a little sad to me as I love them dearly and they have quite an interesting story, so I'll tell it here for you! I met Ninetails and Marmortar as baby Pokemon (Vulpix and Magby) during a rescue mission! When Burned Tower in Ecruteak experienced a collapse, I accompanied the rangers to help save the trapped Pokemon and that is how I found the two girls stuck between some rubbles. They were both in very bad states, especially Ninetails who we almost though wouldn't make it, but they are now both very healthy and powerful, and I am so very proud of them. They are both very affectionate and if you ever come to a meet and great, they would most likely love any attention!
Thank you everyone for reading, I am very exited to share things on this platform! See you all!!!

One Spyro Level a Month Until the Next Spyro Game Releases - January 2025 - Alpine Ridge
Intro/Rules
Previous Level
Next Level
Tumblr media
To ring in 2025, we'll start by entering the first level of Magic Crafter's: Alpine Ridge.
Entryway/Path of Beasts
Tumblr media
Past the entry arch, we find two of the three main enemies that are scattered through this level: the armored druids and the beasts they care for. The druid right ahead is feeding its pet.
Green Druids
Tumblr media
At the end of the long pathway, we come across a green druid moving a block back and forth, and another one swapping the stairs into a slide. They are just like the ones in the homeworld, and everything goes back to how it should be once they're defeated.
Zane
Tumblr media
The first dragon in the level is in front of a chasm with a platform that has a beast on top of it. Zane just asks Spyro if he's afraid of the beasts. Of course not! No matter how loud they are, they go down to one flame.
Castle?
Tumblr media
Ignoring the beast ahead, there's an interesting other area with castle walls. Hopping on top of the structure nearby gives us enough height to head on over there, where a green druid is fighting a blue one that uses ice powers.
Tumblr media
A whole bunch of those blue ones are in the castle-like structure that lacks a ceiling! This is the only place in this level where you'll find them, but they aren't unique to here. There's also a staircase that some green druids are controlling. Defeat them and you can get back to the main level.
Eldrid
Tumblr media
Past a couple of green druids, through a tunnel, and into the interior of Alpine Ridge, we find our second dragon: Eldrid! He doesn't have anything important to say so he just thanks us for releasing him.
The Beast Pits
Tumblr media
Up the hill, we find several areas where the beasts are held in enclosures. One pictured, another in a small indent that a green druid raises up, and two more down inside a cave.
In addition, near the exit portal, a shielded druid even rides on one!
Zander
Tumblr media
Next to the exit portal, Zander praises us on getting through the level, and tells us that we'll learn all the tricks of the Magic Crafter world at this rate.
Kelvin
Tumblr media
Gliding down into a distant cave, we find Kelvin! He tells us that the blue thieves have stolen dragon eggs in other places than Magic Crafter's too. And there's a thief behind him, who runs on a very precarious path.
Fireworks
Tumblr media
Outside the thief tunnel, we have some fireworks on ledges. This always gets me nervous, even though I have yet to fall off!
Tumblr media
Once those are collected, the level is complete! We got a whole five more percentage points from last time, leaving us at 40% - the further into the game we go, the more collectibles there are!
Lore Talk
Tumblr media
As the worlds get more abstract, it gets more difficult to figure out what exactly is going on.
Alpine Ridge has pathways magically hanging out in open air, leading through a mountain, and into a caldera. There are places within the caldera that perfectly fit the orange beasts that the druids care for. There's also a castle where there's a bunch of druids, but no dragons.
This is one of those places where you really wonder if the enemies are actually Gnasty's gems-turned-into-warriors or if they're locals. Those pits have designs on the sides that are consistent with dragonmade architecture, so they're not new. The dragons kept something in there. Maybe it was goats, but they're awfully big for that. The beasts seem to be rather tame, too.
I do believe the druids are Gnasty's soldiers. Armored, green, and blue. They are variants on Gnorcs that have discovered magic, since we really don't see that many Gnorcs in this world while we do see them later.
So I think Gnasty's druids hijacked the beasts that were already there.
The castle-like structure is strange, but perhaps the dragons were just starting to build something there. It is the same architecture we see in other levels, just with only one wall right now.
Next Stop
We'll explore the High Caves.
Concurrent Spyro Events
I'm going to stop putting this section until something interesting happens. Because nothing has.

A/N: Welcome to the 'For You, I'll Set This Place Ablaze' Universe! This one revolves around Bucky and Alpine in HYDRA captivity, so doesn't follow a strict timeline like the rest of the universes would until later on. This one is also shorter, I will be doing more posts on their developing relationship to avoid this universe's story from being over quicker than the rest of them.
warnings: mentions of canon level violence, Bucky Barnes is the Winter Soldier, HYDRA Prisoner! Alpine, gaslighting, discussions of abuse/neglect, Alpine has major abandonment issues, scratch that, Alpine has issues in general, misogynistic views (not by Bucky, at least not willingly)
For You, I'll Set This Place Ablaze | Masterlist
Tumblr media
The Winter Soldier meets his ...Daughter?
He wasn't sure what he had done differently this time but his handlers had become tense in their ride back to their base
they remained tense as they exited the vehicle and lead him down a familiar set of rooms
normally, he is given his mission, he completes it, goes for a debrief and is then placed back in cryo or in a small holding cell if he will be needed in the immediate future
most times he is wiped before being frozen once again
this time just felt different however
and he just wasn't sure why
was it because he had failed?
it couldn't have been the case, he always completed his missions
always
perhaps there had been a witness left?
no, it was an isolated location, any and all cameras had been dealt with by him or other HYDRA agents prior to the mission
could it be that they know about his memories returning once again?
yes, that must be it
they always seem to know when his memories begin to filter through the mist of his brain
they never made any sense of course, but they were there
and he thinks they were his
it was hard to tell sometimes, it always felt as through he were watching it in third person
it was clear that something was bothering his handlers, even after they strapped him to the chair
after the debrief
and after the electric was sent through his skull
when he awoke from the haze, Alexander Pierce stood before him
"Well done. We have a surprise for you."
the Soldier's face remains blank as he stands, guided by the many doctors and agents in the room to follow Pierce through the compound
every turn and staircase brought familiar memories of the area
well, not memories - but his body remembered the layout even if his mind did not after the recent wiping
eventually however, they got to a part of the base that he had never been able to venture
not that he was open to explore the area anyway
it wasn't heavily guarded, one guard positioned as the initial gate to the ward
another further down the corridor about halfway
as Pierce led the group down the corridor, one of the doctors rushed to begin walking next to him
"Sir, are we sure this is a good idea? We have no idea how the asset will react. We don't know if he will become unstable. We should introduce them gradually."
Pierce sent him a look which made the doctor calm his persistence
"Don't tell me you're starting to care now."
the doctor scoffs
"Not about her. It's the Asset's behaviour I am concerned over."
Said Asset could not care less about any surprise
he just wanted to rest for once
at least in cryo he wasn't poked and prodded with machines that kept changing through the decades
he swore the needles got bigger each time
and the electricity seemed to just get stronger
Pierce had seemed to calm the doctor's nerves, but the rest of the HYDRA Agents were still tense
whatever this surprise was, they thought it would send him into a rage
that much was clear
But the soldier had learnt the hard way that despite all his super strength, there was nothing he could do so fight HYDRA
they'd have the upper hand, always
and he had nothing to fight for
even if he did, he didn't remember them
finally, when they reached the last room in the corridor, a final guard nodded to the group before banging on the metal door he had been guarding
the soldier heard shuffling from the other side of the door but couldn't make anything else out as Pierce swiped a card and the heavy metal lock released with a load clunk
the door swung open on it's own and light filled the otherwise dark room
it was dirty
it was small
it was wet?
he hated this surprise
Pierce also seems to hate it, glancing at the guard who had been stood at the door
"And what happened here?"
"She wouldn't bathe sir, we had to use the hose."
it was whispered and the other agents surrounding the soldier gripped their weapons tighter
Pierce tutted, stepping into the room
"And the lights?"
"Thomson is looking into it."
the guard in the middle of the long corridors holds in a laugh
no, he wasn't
The soldier is urged forward into the room, where Pierce is stood looking into the darkest corner of the room
the room itself was in fact filthy
mould and dirt in the upper and lower corners of the room, rats crawling out of a small crack in the brick, old tattered blankets on the floor and an even older metal bed in the corner. the mattress it housed was no better, springs crawling out of rips in the fabric making an uneasy nights sleep for anyone
in the corner that held Pierce's attention was a small girl
hair greasy, dirt grime covering her body
her body covered in an oversized hospital gown which looked as if she had rolled around the floor in
she's staring at Pierce, shaking in her little corner as she curls into herself
"What's her name? Age?"
he's turned to the doctor who had originally spoken against this surprise, who in turn opens a file
he had to step closer to the open door to read the pages
"Alpine. 14."
"Right. Soldier, this is Alpine. She is your daughter. Your family."
The soldier is confused
what?
family?
daughter?
when did he ever have any of that
the surrounded agents have all slowly started to raise their weapons at him whilst he stands, staring at the girl who has now fully spun around to face him
her eyes are hopeful, excited, almost happy
his are blank, mindless, dead
"Okay."
in a second, that hopeful look in her eyes is shattered and nobody seems to notice with smirk of the guard's face, pointed towards her
the soldier is still confused
what did Pierce want him to do with this knowledge?
the man sighs and rubs his temple
"Perhaps we shouldn't have wiped him just yet."
the doctors nods in agreement, writing it down in the file he had been carrying
Pierce shakes his head and looks to the soldier
"When you are successful in your missions, her room will be updated. She'll get better furniture, a better, warmer room, one with less cracks. You'd like that for your own flesh and blood right?"
would he?
he thinks, yes?
he nods anyway looking at Pierce
"Right. Well, from now own, her survival is on your hands, Soldier. If you fail, poor Alpine will suffer. Your daughter. She will die."
there's fear in her eyes and before he can stop himself, he's shuffled closer
what was this?
Pierce looks pleased
"If you misbehave during any of your time here, she will be punished. You will not see each other, ever again. You don't want that, do you?"
he shakes his head and Pierce nods at him
"No, we don't want that. The bond between a father and his daughter is incredibly loving. Don't you want that?"
he nods in response, his eyes looking to the terrified girl in the corner of the room
"So you'll do better from now on, right?"
he nods again and Pierce smirks
"Good. Let's get started, shall we."
with that, he is ushered out of the room, not even able to talk to his newly found daughter before he had to go to work
he supposes its a good thing
he didn't know what to do, what to say to her
how to comfort her or how to even be a father
what are they supposed to do?
"What was that soldier?"
he looks up at Pierce, who had looked back at him at his words
he hadn't realised he'd spoken
"Nothing, Sir."
"No, no. You have a question. Repeat it."
the group stop outside of the ward his daughter was being kept in
The soldier swallows what felt like a brick in his throat
"Fathers. Sir. What are they supposed to do?"
Everyone seems a little shocked at the question, surprised that Pierce even let him speak out of turn
but the suited man steps closer, pats the soldiers cheek and gives him a grin
his plan would work, he was sure of it
"Fathers support their children, care for them. Make sure they survive. Provide and offer comfort. Especially their daughters. Daughters are weak, they need more guidance. They need a protector. That is your job as a father. It is your own personal mission to provide for your daughter now, by aiding HYDRA. Do you understand?"
The soldier nods
he could do that, Pierce had said the more successful his missions, the better her situation
he could provide for her now and he would ensure he did
no matter the mission, he would protect and care for his daughter
it was his mission after all

Bakery Tourism
The Glazed Crusade: How Bakery Tourism Became Humanity’s Flakiest Obsession
By Bohiney.com — Proudly stuffing satire into croissants since before you learned what “lamination” meant.https://bohiney.com Welcome to the Crumb Belt There was a time when people traveled for cathedrals, castles, or even canyons. Now they traverse continents for croissants with a cult following. It’s not “bread,” it’s bbangpilgrimage, baby — a gluten-fueled lifestyle where carbs are the new compass and Instagram is the map. According to sociologists (read: baristas who listen well), bakery tourism has officially overtaken eco-tourism, voluntourism, and even good ol’ fashioned hedonism. Why? Because nothing says "personal growth" like a $14 croissant with yuzu foam served in a tiny recyclable pillow box. Let us rise (like a slow-proofed sourdough) and explore the warm, flaky world of bakery tourism—a doughy phenomenon that proves humanity will follow a baguette anywhere, as long as it’s photographed in natural light beside a rustic brick wall. When ‘Artisanal’ Became a Threat Level At first glance, bakery tourism sounds innocent. But delve deeper and you’ll find entire global supply chains rerouted to serve passionfruit curd on spelt. In Copenhagen, there's now a six-month waiting list to bite a cardamom bun. In Tokyo, a sourdough starter named “Kenji” has more followers than actual pop stars. Bakery terminology has evolved from descriptive to passive-aggressive. A simple “chocolate twist” now masquerades as a "72-hour laminated cacao coil." This isn't food—this is high-maintenance therapy. The Baguette As Blasphemy In Paris, tourists now skip the Eiffel Tower entirely and wait outside a bakery called "La Fermentation Divine", where the head baker is rumored to be an ex-priest who levitates while scoring rye. Witnesses claim he once wept into a batch of brioche and it cured a woman’s gluten intolerance. One pastry reviewer called the loaf “a religious experience, minus the guilt and incense.” Pilgrims reportedly camp overnight in a vigil known locally as Le Crumb Watch. Millennials Walked, So Gen Z Could Carb Where millennials curated coffeeshop workspaces, Gen Z now curates bakery itineraries. They wear hiking boots—not for nature, but for the cobblestones of obscure Alpine towns where grandmothers knead secrets into pistachio tarts. The phrase “Do you have Wi-Fi?” has been replaced by “Do you use imported einkorn?” Even digital nomads are pivoting. We interviewed a freelance UX designer from Austin who said, “I realized I could be poor in Lisbon or poor in Tokyo with better bread. It was a no-brainer.” What the Funny People Are Saying Ron White: “I didn’t know what a kouign-amann was until I paid 18 bucks for one. Now I know it’s French for ‘wallet trap.’” Jerry Seinfeld: “So we travel thousands of miles… for a pastry… that goes stale in 20 minutes? That’s not tourism—that’s a hostage situation.” Sarah Silverman: “Pastry people are cult members with flaky skin and deeper feelings for their croissants than their partners.” Larry David: “You’re telling me we line up for buns now? What happened to buying bread and going home? The Holocaust didn’t happen for this.” Rise of the Influencer Bun The algorithm is hungry. The croissant is golden. The trend is unstoppable. Social media accounts like @PainAuDramatique now command millions of followers by doing slow-motion tear-aparts of buttery interiors. Pastry influencers take their buns more seriously than their relationships. One viral TikTok post was captioned “My boyfriend left me, but this pistachio galette never will.” In a 2024 survey conducted by PastryWatch International, 62% of Gen Z travelers said they would rather post a picture of a cruffin than their grandmother’s funeral. One respondent added, “Unless Nana’s in front of a sourdough, what’s the point?” Factual Evidence, Now Glazed The Science:According to the University of Oxford’s Department of Absurd Consumer Trends, baked goods stimulate the hippocampus and the Instagram cortex simultaneously. In layman’s terms: we bond with carbs faster than we do with people. The Economics:In Seoul, “bbang cafes” contributed over $270 million to the GDP. The Korean Tourism Organization now refers to pastry shops as “soft power outposts.” One government official stated, “Our muffins are more effective than tanks.” The Religion:A pop-up in Brooklyn offers “Communion Croissants” where customers whisper sins into laminated dough. Yelp reviews describe it as “tastier than Catholicism.” Dangerously Delicious: The Health Risks of Pastry Trekking Doctors have begun diagnosing a condition called “Choux Gout,” caused by excessive consumption of cream-filled pastries at elevation. One pastry pilgrim fainted on the steps of a Basque bakery after mistaking a bear claw for a hydration gel. Fitness trackers now include a “Bakery Burn” mode calibrated for waiting in line while slowly losing willpower. Meanwhile, gyms are adapting. One Brooklyn studio offers a class called “Barre & Brioche,” which combines ballet plies with slow-motion chewing. The Flavor That Launched a Thousand Flights Let’s talk flavor obsession. In Oslo, there’s a salted licorice rye swirl that has inspired travel packages, documentaries, and at least one divorce. Its Yelp review has more emotional depth than most autobiographies: “I came here a broken man. I left with three loaves and a new identity.” Famous People Are Doing It, So It’s Probably Fine Benedict Cumberbatch has been spotted boarding a jet to Rome just to sample a “gorgonzola bombolini” rumored to “whisper secrets as you chew.” Kylie Jenner trademarked “Buttercore” fashion after attending a Paris bakery in a croissant-shaped bodysuit. The bodysuit later sold on eBay for $45,000 and a sourdough starter named “Kanye.” Meanwhile, Elon Musk announced plans for a Tesla-branded sourdough that self-drives itself out of the oven and into your existential void. The Kimchi Danish Wars Fusion pastries are at the center of heated debates. Should a bagel really be filled with miso tofu and topped with edible flowers? Should muffins smell like lemongrass foot scrub? A protest group called “Traditionalists Against Turmeric Tarts” recently chained themselves to an oven in Brighton to stop the spread of “savory lavender brioche.” One protestor was heard screaming, “IT’S NOT A BUN—IT’S A CRY FOR HELP.” The Museumification of Bakeries In London, the Tate Modern now displays a £27 laminated spiral in a humidity-controlled pastry case. Schoolchildren weep in awe as tour guides explain the historical context of its “gluten-forward texture.” Meanwhile, the Louvre is rumored to be replacing the Mona Lisa with a selfie of a French butter croissant captioned, “She’s flakier than me.” The $28 Pain au Chocolat That Ended Capitalism Would you pay $28 for a pastry? Someone did. Then ten more people did. Now the market is completely ruined. A French economist warned, “If inflation doesn’t break us, the croissant cartel will.” Black market buns are being smuggled through customs in hollowed-out travel pillows. A criminal network called The Brioche Syndicate has allegedly infiltrated bakery lines worldwide, scalping kouign-amann at 300% markup. The Sourdough Enlightenment In Los Angeles, a mindfulness bakery called "Rise Within" offers meditative bread-making workshops. Customers sit in silence while chanting “om-nom-nom.” One client said, “It’s like therapy, but with more gluten and fewer daddy issues.” A bestselling self-help book titled “Proofing the Soul” combines yeast metaphors with inner healing. Chapter 4: Let It Rest, Then Punch It Down. Contradictions Baked Right In Bakery tourism is an eco-nightmare wrapped in wax paper. Travelers fly 6,000 miles to eat an “ethically-sourced croissant” served on biodegradable banana leaves while their private jet idles outside. A recent article in Pastry Ethicist Monthly lamented the rise of “greenwashed gluten”—artisanal breads made with smugness and a dash of climate denial. From Food Truck to Vatican There’s a rumor that Pope Francis was seen blessing a crate of ciabatta shipped from Milan. Vatican sources deny it, but insiders say the communion wafers may soon be replaced with focaccia to “reinvigorate the sacrament with rosemary vibes.” Bakery Bro Culture Emerges Men in Patagonia vests are now replacing bar crawls with “dough patrols.” They travel in packs, ordering cronuts while critiquing fermentation techniques. One shouted, “This has no backbone!” while spitting out a seeded challah. A new dating app called “Loave” matches couples based on sourdough hydration ratios and laminated dough preferences. Bakery FOMO and the End of Civilization The most dangerous side effect of bakery tourism is Pastry FOMO. It manifests as: Panic when a friend posts a danish you haven’t tried Rage when the seasonal pistachio croissant sells out Existential crisis when you realize your crumb shot is blurry Therapists now specialize in Laminated Trauma Recovery. One practitioner told us, “I had a client cry because they missed a cruffin drop in Barcelona. I had to prescribe a baguette hug and a warm tartlet.” Final Proof In the end, bakery tourism is just a symptom of a deeper hunger. Not for food—but for identity, community, and something soft to hold while the world falls apart. If history repeats itself, the next major civilization will be judged not by its pyramids or art, but by the shape of its buns. So go ahead—book that flight, eat that muffin, and post that story. Just remember: somewhere out there, a sourdough is watching… and judging. 🥐 15 Observations on the Rise of Bakery Tourism
1. From Couch to Croissant: The New Fitness Trend Forget marathons; the real endurance test is queuing for a £4 cinnamon bun in sub-zero temperatures. Fitness enthusiasts now measure their stamina by how long they can stand in line without collapsing. The Guardian 2. Kimchi Danish: The Pastry That Fights Back Biting into a kimchi and egg danish is like a culinary rollercoaster—starts with a flake, ends with a kick. It's the only pastry that requires a palate and a passport. The Guardian 3. Baking: The New Religion In Korea, "bbangjisullae" combines "bread" and "pilgrimage." Because nothing says spiritual enlightenment like a gluten-filled journey. The Guardian 4. Cycling for Sourdough: The New Tour de France Cyclists now map routes based on bakery locations. Who needs hydration stations when you have croissant checkpoints? 5. Social Media: Where Pastries Become Celebrities A pain au chocolat can now achieve influencer status. Next up: a croissant with its own reality show. The Guardian 6. The £28 Pastry: Because Size Matters Why settle for a regular-sized pastry when you can have one as big as your head? At £28, it's a bargain for those who equate calories with value. 7. Bakery Crawls: The New Pub Crawls Beer is out; brioche is in. The only hangover now is from a sugar crash. 8. Global Warming vs. Warm Buns Traveling hundreds of miles for a pastry might not be eco-friendly, but hey, it's for the 'gram. 9. Bakery Queues: The New Social Hubs Waiting in line for a cronut is the new speed dating. Swipe right if they offer you a bite. 10. Pastry Names: Now with Extra Pretension Gone are the days of simple names. Now it's "miso bacon escargot"—because "snail-shaped pastry" wasn't fancy enough. 11. Bakeries: The New Tourist Attractions Move over, Eiffel Tower. Tourists now flock to bakeries for that perfect shot of a croissant against a rustic backdrop. 12. Pastry Pilgrimages: The New Spiritual Journeys Who needs a trek to Machu Picchu when you can journey to a remote bakery for a cardamom bun? 13. Artisanal: Code for 'More Expensive' "Artisanal" now justifies a 300% markup. But it's okay because it's made with "love" and "locally-sourced air." 14. Bakeries: The New Museums People now travel to see pastries like they used to for art. "Ah, the layers on this croissant are reminiscent of a Monet." 15. Discover the Magic of a Multi-Activity Tour in Bhutan
If you're dreaming of a travel experience that goes beyond sightseeing—where every day is filled with new adventures and soulful moments—then a multi-activity tour in Bhutan might be your perfect match. Known as the Land of the Thunder Dragon, Bhutan offers a rare combination of spiritual serenity, untouched nature, and thrilling outdoor experiences. Whether you're a culture seeker, a mountain lover, or an adrenaline junkie, Bhutan's multi-activity tours are crafted to keep you engaged and inspired every step of the way.
Tumblr media
Why Choose a Multi-Activity Tour in Bhutan?
A multi-activity Bhutan tour combines various experiences into one seamless itinerary—trekking through alpine landscapes, cycling through remote villages, rafting along pristine rivers, and immersing yourself in local culture. Unlike traditional tours, these are curated for those who crave dynamic, meaningful travel.
Here’s what makes it so special:
A blend of physical activity, cultural discovery, and spiritual depth
Opportunities to interact with locals and understand Bhutanese traditions
Access to off-the-beaten-path destinations
Eco-conscious and sustainable tourism practices
1. Start in Thimphu: The Modern Capital with a Traditional Soul
Your multi-activity journey in Bhutan often begins in Thimphu, the capital city, where tradition meets modernity. Despite its urban edge, Thimphu remains deeply rooted in Buddhist culture.
Here, you can:
Visit the Tashichho Dzong, a majestic fortress that houses government offices and a monastery.
Explore local markets and artisan workshops.
Embark on a short hike to Tango Monastery, tucked into the mountains north of the city.
This mix of gentle urban exploration and hiking sets the tone for the active days ahead.
2. Trekking Through the Heart of the Himalayas
Trekking is at the heart of many multi-activity Bhutan itineraries. Depending on your fitness level and interest, you can choose from shorter treks like the Bumdra Trek or longer expeditions like the Jomolhari Trek.
Highlights of Bhutan trekking tours include:
Crossing high mountain passes with views of sacred peaks
Camping in tranquil alpine meadows
Visiting remote monasteries only accessible on foot
Each trek is not just a physical challenge, but a spiritual journey that brings you closer to the heart of Bhutanese life and belief.
3. Cycling Through Villages and Valleys
One of the most enriching experiences in a Bhutan multi-activity tour is cycling through the country’s lush valleys and historic villages. The well-paved roads between places like Paro, Punakha, and Gangtey are ideal for both beginner and seasoned cyclists.
Some cycling highlights:
Biking the Dochula Pass, offering panoramic Himalayan views
Riding alongside terraced rice fields and prayer-flag-strewn bridges
Meeting locals in peaceful villages and stopping for tea or a chat
This low-impact activity allows you to immerse yourself in Bhutan’s day-to-day life while soaking up its scenic beauty.
4. River Rafting in Punakha: Thrill Meets Tranquility
Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan, is home to the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers—perfect spots for white-water rafting. Whether you're a thrill-seeker or a beginner, the rivers offer varied rapids, from gentle floats to pulse-racing Class III+ runs.
What's special about rafting in Bhutan is the backdrop: Imagine floating past Punakha Dzong, one of the country's most iconic structures, surrounded by forests and misty peaks.
5. Cultural Immersion: Temples, Traditions, and Local Life
No trip to Bhutan is complete without diving into its rich cultural heritage. Your multi-activity tour can be designed to include visits to ancient temples, interactions with local families, and participation in traditional festivals if your timing aligns.
Some not-to-miss cultural experiences:
Meditating at Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang) after a scenic hike
Trying your hand at archery, Bhutan's national sport
Staying in a local homestay to enjoy Bhutanese hospitality and cuisine
6. Bhutan’s Commitment to Sustainability
Bhutan isn't just about adventure and culture—it's also a global model for sustainable tourism. The country follows a unique policy of "High Value, Low Impact" tourism, meaning visitor numbers are kept low to protect the environment and cultural integrity.
By choosing a multi-activity tour in Bhutan, you're supporting a tourism model that respects both people and nature. Many tour operators also contribute to local communities through employment, conservation efforts, and education.
7. Crafting Your Perfect Bhutan Travel Itinerary
Because a multi-activity tour is customizable, you can design your Bhutan travel itinerary based on your interests, time, and fitness level. A typical 10–14 day tour might include:
Days 1–2: Thimphu – sightseeing, light hiking
Days 3–5: Trekking route (e.g., Bumdra or Druk Path)
Day 6: Cycling from Paro to Punakha
Day 7: Rafting and Dzong visits in Punakha
Days 8–10: Cultural immersion in Gangtey or Haa Valley
Optional: Attend a local festival or extend your trek
Work with a local or specialized adventure tour provider to make your experience seamless and deeply rewarding.
Final Thoughts
A multi-activity tour in Bhutan is more than just a vacation—it's an opportunity to connect with your adventurous self, immerse in sacred landscapes, and discover a way of life untouched by the rush of modernity. Whether you’re hiking along misty ridges, biking through villages, or meditating in mountaintop monasteries, Bhutan will move you in unexpected and unforgettable ways.
If you're seeking a transformative journey that nourishes body, mind, and soul—pack your hiking boots, bring an open heart, and let the Land of the Thunder Dragon surprise you.
