No Duolingo, no problem
Jere Pöyhönen / Käärijä x Fem! Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: You moved to Finland a few weeks ago and can't seem to feel at home: you're starting at a new job, you don't understand the language, you're kind of going through a break up... One tired and cold evening you head into the first bar you can find and briefly meet a cute guy you can't stop thinking about for the next few weeks. You try to forget about him, but when you go back to the same bar for some random gig your coworkers have invited you to go to, you find him again. [This takes place way before Eurovision]
Word count: 5.9k
Warnings: English isn't my first language and I got a little lazy mid writing. Also they smoke a vape oops (seriously now don't do it it's shit for your health). Maybe smut implications at the end?
A/N: I didn't know what to name this lmao. I cannot believe I wrote fanficiton for the first time in YEARS because I fell in love with a Finnish guy after watching Eurovision. Anyway, I noticed an enormous shortage of Jere fics and decided to risk my final exams to serve the people. I hope it's worth it! Also apologies if the Finnish translation is shit I used a random website for it lol

...
It was cold. Hell, it was colder than she could have ever imagined before coming here. Sure, she had checked the country's temperatures before moving, researched online about what to expect for someone who was used to easy winters, had bought the fuzzy-fur-on-the-inside-boots and the heavy jacket and all that was recommended to face the never-ending snowing. But still, it somehow hadn't been enough.
A job offer and the need to find some new purpose to latch onto had led (Y/N) here. Now three weeks in, with no friends and hardly a place to call her home had helped regret start to settle in. So many things felt out of her control: the way her colleagues seemed to think she was a mess, the cashiers at the supermarket sighing because she still didn't understand the language, everyone from her hometown rolling their eyes when she announced she was leaving in a way that meant you're not gonna make it.
Yet being thrown outside her comfort zone, and being forced to move on however she could manage, made her feel at least some kind of thrive. Which was far more than she had back home.
As she walked down the street for some place to find shelter in, hands shaking and breaths almost uneven, a neon sign caught her attention. Even though she couldn't figure out the name, it looked like a pretty okay bar. She didn't need much convincing anyway; anything would do to get out of this freezing gale. She made her way in.
The warmth was a instant relief. Stripping down from the many layers of upper clothes, she took a quick glance to check the place out. Not many people, which was fair for a Wednesday evening. There was low music playing, mild chatter and a bunch of people sitting alone in the stools, which was a relief. At least she wouldn't be the only one.
As she ordered a beer (one of the few phrases she had made sure to master) she felt her hands come alive again. The beverage came along and she took a long, much anticipated sip. It tasted significantly different from the brands she was used to, but it was just fine. Alcohol is alcohol.
Finally feeling at ease, she took her phone out and started mindlessly scrolling through social media to kill some time. It was still early in the evening since she had just gotten out from work. An extra challenging day is what had led her to wander outside for a bit instead of heading back to the dull apartment she hadn't even been able to decorate yet. Going home right after would've led her to start overthinking if this job was even right for her, if she had gone crazy by moving hundreds of kilometres away from what she's always known, if her ex-girlfriend had been right when she accused her of being too impulsive, if it would be such a bad thing to give it up already and leave—
"Anteeksi, pudotit takkisi", she heard a voice say behind her.
When she turned around to give her "sorry I still don't speak Finnish" speech, she was met with a blue-eyed, dark-haired, funky but sweet looking guy holding her jacket, which she now understood had fallen to the floor. It caught her by surprise that she somehow forgot how to speak for a brief moment.
"Oh! Thank you, I hadn't noticed it was on the floor" she ended up answering, taking the jacket back as the man handed it to her with a confused look in his eyes. "Sorry, I'm not from here. I don't speak Finnish yet" she added with a small chuckle.
"No, don't worry, Finnish, uh- hard language to learn" he answered through an amusing smile, with a thick accent and a clear struggle to speak English.
She half laughed at his answer. Until now, people hadn't been so kind about the language-barrier impediment. "Yes, it is a little bit", she followed, now taking in his appearance.
Painted nails. Double nose piercings. Earrings. Facial hair. A bowl cut? Interesting choice, but it suited him surprisingly well. Her brain decided through that brief examination: he was cute. Attractively cute.
"You can try Duolingo. I use for my English, but don't work very very well" the man said the second part more as a correction to himself, making both of them laugh from the random half advice. He tried to fix it: "Maybe for you works better".
"Maybe. I'll check it out. Thank you again" her response was going to be followed by an invitation for him to sit down with her, as she felt a sudden wave of boldness: I need to make some friends in this town or else I'll go crazy. But a group of three other guys that had come in after him caught her stranger's attention.
"Jere, istuimme takapöydässä", one of them said to him, while walking to a table at the back corner of the bar.
"Olen tulossa" he turned around to answer, then looked at her once more, "I go now with my friends. Enjoy your beer" he smiled and small-waved goodbye, as she copied his gesture. "Enjoy your evening".
That small interaction was enough for her to spend the next half hour looking up from her phone, which she had retreated to, to glance at him from time to time. His group of friends and him seemed to be having a good time, and she enjoyed the view of him. He looked like a very interesting person, too, and if she was being honest, she hadn't been struck by someone new in quite some time. Not by her neighbors, not by the people she was starting to coincide with at the grocery shop, not even by her co-workers.
She noticed him looking at her from time to time as well.
When her glass was empty and just as the clock on her phone struck seven, she got up and got prepared to face the freezing wind once again. At least it wasn't that long of a walk to her place.
She lingered for a moment before exiting the bar, then finally did so while warning herself not to get too caught up on the nice stranger she suddenly felt she was leaving behind. It was just a one minute interaction. You probably won't see him again. Quit this teenager act. Focus on the important tasks ahead of you.
It was already pitch black outside, snow accumulated on the sidewalks, the air was even colder than before.
Excitement started to bubble up in the pit of her stomach.
...
Two weeks had gone by and although she had been meaning to return to the bar, she just hadn't find the time to do so. Once the job's training period ended, the hectic rythm started. In her free time, when she wasn't taking care of the house or just resting, she was trying to find some language academy where she could actually properly learn Finnish. Cute guy had been right: Duolingo just didn't do the trick.
She had hoped he would appear around the neighborhood, that maybe he lived nearby. But there had been no luck. It was fine, though. She knew she would let go of it rather quickly at that point, it's not like she had been thinking about his addictive smile or pretty eyes or soft-looking hands. Not at all.
It was Friday, and some acquaintances from work she had managed to pull off had invited her to a small gig. She didn't even remember the musician's name nor did she know where it was going to be, but nevertheless she was happy to go and actually get to have some fun with other people. Who knows, cute guy might even be there.
She didn't even realize they were headed to the bar until they were right in front of it. Inside, a small stage platform had been set up and tables and chairs had been removed to make space for the audience. It wasn't very spacey anyway, the place could hold about a hundred people squeezed together tops.
"Huh, hadn't even thought of this place as a venue" she let her thoughts trail out loud.
"Have you been here before?" her coworker Aubrey, who she had slightly bonded with because she was also a foreigner, asked her. "Only once" the girl explained, already searching for a certain someone's face in the crowd. "So, who have you brought me to see tonight?" she asked, in the hopes of at least getting some conversation non-work related flowing. "I don't really know, coming here was Mikko's idea. He's always trying to get us into these weird small rap-rock Finnish bands, and listen, I've lived here for over a year now and I still don't really get the hype" Aubrey explained making both of them laugh "But it always ends up being fun when we go out" she added.
The rest of the group had moved forward to get a good spot near the humble stage, as Mikko babbled on and on about nonsense the two women couldn't figure out from the distance. "Hey, I'm going to the bathroom real quick. Mind saving me a place?" (Y/N) asked her colleague, who answered affirmatively.
She made her way through the crowd in between "excuse me's" and "sorry's" but got there with quite ease. One of the two toilet doors had a sign that read "Out of order", so she knocked on the one that was left to check if anyone was inside. A voice that sounded vaguely familiar came from the other side: "Hetkinen, kiitos!"
Nervousness suddenly struck her. Is this who I think it is?
When the door opened there was no doubt. Cute stranger was standing in front of her.
"Oh! Hello" he blurted out just as he saw her, sounding surprised. Today he was wearing eye makeup and bottom eyeliner, which suited him very, very well. He has such a pretty face.
She realized now she had not been able to get over this guy in the two weeks of not seeing him, even though she didn't even know his name.
"Hi" was all she could manage to say. She had been looking for him when she entered the bar but she was convinced he was not actually going to be there, "It's good to see you!" she added, as a way of avoiding an awkward silence.
"You as well. You, uh, you come to... concert?" he inquired, struggling to find the last word while pointing towards the direction where the stage was to make sure he was being understood.
She noticed he was wearing an all yellow outfit that consisted of corduroy pants and a button up. He looks good in it.
"Yes, some work friends brought me here. But if I'm being honest I don't even know who's playing" she confessed, slightly covering her mouth with one of her hands to joke around, as if she had spilled a dark secret. Stranger burst out laughing. His laugh was cute. "Do you know if he's good? I wanna know if I'll be wasting my time or not" she asked him, pretending to be a diva to keep his laugh going.
He had his arms crossed and his tongue between his teeth as he slightly giggled. "No, I think he's pretty ok. I think you will like, even if no understand" his answer was playful and accompanied with another small laugh. She continued joking around, this time putting her hands up in pretend self defense "Hey, I'll try my best. Maybe using Duolingo for two days actually did something" she shot back, realizing after saying those words that she had just told Mr. Stranger she had followed his advice.
He narrowed his eyes and tilted his head playfully "You did what I say to you" he stated. "Yes, but you were right. It's not really helpful. Now I just keep getting emails from the goddamn owl and feel scared that he's going to find me and kill me for not going back to the app" she explained exaggeratedly, which made their giggles grow bigger and even he bent his knees with laughter.
Their little chit-chatting was cut when a man who looked like he had been searching for someone stopped in his tracks at the beginning of the bathroom hall and shouted at them: "Jere, sinun vuorosi on kymmenen minuutin kuluttua". She turned around to look at the source of the voice and then back at stranger when he answered "Minä menen nyt". She wished she knew what they were saying, but she assumed it had just been his friend telling him to hurry up. Also, was Jere his name? She had heard it two times already.
"Someone's always calling out for you", she commented when they were left alone again. "It's because me popular, yes yes" he joked, putting a hand to his chest and shrugging. "Listen, I go now. Concert starting soon" he explained, pointing out to the stage's direction once again "I see you there?" he asked, eyebrows raised as he put a hand to her shoulder, looking into her eyes. His blue ones had her mind going blank for a moment. That seemed to happen a lot when he was around. "Uh- yeah, sure, see you there". He smiled again then moved past her to return to the hall. She stared at him leave as she opened the door to the bathroom and finally went inside, smiling to herself and biting her bottom lip.
She hurried back once she was finished not only in fear of missing out the start of the concert, but more so in fear of not finding him again. Aubrey raised her hand to catch her attention and she followed the lead back to the group. The place was packed, it was hot, and there was a lot of chatter going on.
"What took you so long?", Aubrey asked as she got to her side, just in front of the stage, "They're about to start". (Y/N) was standing on her tiptoes and turning her head in all directions. She had just talked to him and the bar was not that big: where the hell had he hid himself?
"There was a long line to the bathroom..." she started off distantly, then turned to face Aubrey "Hey, this is going to sound weird, but have you seen-" just when she was going to make the question, she noticed some people walking up to the stage and everyone started cheering.
As she looked up, she couldn't have been more dumbfounded.
It was him. Mr Stranger was the one performing tonight.
"Hei kaikille, miten meillä menee tänään?" he shouted out to the public, (Y/N) assumed as a way of greeting everyone. He took no time noticing she was right there, which made him grin even wider. "I see we have international people tonight. Good" he said while looking directly at her. She felt her coworkers eyes on her.
"Do you know him?" Aubrey whispered-shouted to her, "I- uh, no, yes? Briefly" she responded back as he continued on in Finnish. She remembered the question she had made him earlier and mentally facepalmed. This cheeky dude. Lying to her face just so he could later get her reaction.
Since there was no way of understanding what he said, she concentrated on what she could see. Two men behind him wearing pink shirts and shorts and sunglasses. A DJ table, no instruments. There was a sign hanging from the wall that read "Käärijä". Was that his artistic name? She was very intrigued by everything going on and wondered what genre he was going to play.
She had no idea what was coming.
As soon as he stopped talking and the music started playing, his demeanor changed. His stare became fiercer, his movements provocative and unleashed. He walked around the stage like he owned it, stared at the audience like he knew they would do whatever he asked them. Every beat before he started singing rumbled inside her, made her hold her breath in anticipation. She let it out once the words started to fall from his mouth.
The lyrics could have been shit for all she knew. His deep voice, the exotic pronunciation, the hard rapping from the boy who had seemed so sweet and wholesome but was now showing another side of him, the song's rhythm and tone. She was all in. So in, that her body started swaying to the sound almost like an automatic response, and jumped around alongside everyone else when the music demanded to do so.
"Ok, he's really good" she said to her coworkers as the crowd sung alongside him. "Mikko, you were right, he's really good" she insisted to the boy beside her, who was clearly enjoying himself. "I told you!" he answered amidst chanting, "Jere is my most talented friend". Oh, okay. Mental note taken.
As he performed his songs, (Y/N) couldn't help but admire the dedication Jere put on and the absolute fun he looked like he was having. Also, she realised he was at least kind of known around here, because people were singng alongside him.
The head banging, self touching, slightly undressing and sticking his tongue out only added more to his eclectic movements and gestures that made the show feel like a mix of energetic, passionate and, why deny it, lascivious state. Her eyes were glued to him in a capitative stare, that he would catch from time to time and hold for a few seconds. Then he would turn to his attention somewhere else, but a smirk would make a clear appearance on his face.
Whenever he finished a number, the loud clapping allowed him some time to take a sip of water. The clothes he was wearing and its material soon became unbearable, which lead him to take his shirt off completely. "Sorry, it is hot in here" he stated into the microphone pretending to excuse himself as a joke, as everyone in the room made a fuss about it. He was heavily sweating all over his face, neck and torso.
If she had previously been absorbed by him, at this point it was almost unbearable. She had not expected to see so much exposed flesh, and the pectoral tattoo nearly had her weak on her knees.
For some reason, freehing himself from his clothes somehow made him behave even wilder from then on out. He started getting closer to the front row, some even holding out their arms to interact with him, him receiving the gesture with no issue. The Fin looked so confident in what he was doing, it only made her feel even more attracted to him.
He moved so quickly (Y/N) didn't even have time to process when he positioned himself right in front of her, amidst performing a song, and full on stroked her cheek for a few lasting moments, all the while mainting direct eye contact. It was as if no one else had been around them, as if this instant had been theirs only. She didn't respond to the touch by touching him herself, since she couldn't find the strength to be as bold; but the breath hitching and swallowing saliva right after were a clear sign to Jere that he made her feel things. He would quite probably feel embarrassed about it later, but right now it made him feel close to powerful.
The whole gig ended on a high note, the applause was strong and lasting. (Y/N) clapped her hands so fast they even started hurting a little, and could understand through the noise that Jere was thanking everyone for coming out to see him. As he was about to exit the stage, some music started playing over the speakers as to signal that the performance was over and everyone could retreat to either leave the bar or get a drink and stay there for a longer while. As the people from the front row turned around and waited to have a chance to move, (Y/N) felt a hand on her shoulder.
Jere looked exhausted, but it also seemed like the whole night had riled him up. "You don't leave now?", he meant to ask, but came out more as a plead. She wouldn't even dream of doing so right now. "No, no, I'm staying" she rushed to answer. "Good. Wait for me?" he went on. She could only manage to nod her head yes. He smiled and quickly went "backstage" to freshen up.
"Okay, what the actual hell was that?" Aubrey took no time to pry her, "It did not look like knowing each other briefly". (Y/N) shrugged while putting her hands in the air and half laughing, not knowing how to beat those allegations.
"It's classic Jere. Finds a girl cute and cannot stop himself" Mikko chimed in, while grinning, "Now I understand, you must be the girl he saw a couple of weeks ago over here, right?"
"He's talked about me?" she said, a bit shocked, while Mikko lead the way for the three of them to go grab a drink. "Yes, well, now that I connect the dots, that evening you came here, it was a Wednesday, right? I came too, but it must've been after you left. When I arrived he was commenting it".
Some of the other coworkers were starting to leave, not without commenting the elephant in the room before grabbing the door. "You're gonna be the talk of the office now", Aubrey asserted, making Mikko laugh and (Y/N) grow redder by the minute. "I don't even- we haven't even talked that much, really. But watching him onstage was..." she trailed off, letting out a sigh and grabbing the drink Mikko offered her, thanking him in the process. "Yes, it's his special trait. That magnetism he holds is what's gonna get him places", he agreed.
"Okay, but does this whole act mean that he always does this? Like, does he take advantage of his concerts to mindlessly flirt with random people?" (Y/N) suddenly tried to rationalize the fast track of actions Jere was taking on with her. Sure, she liked him, and she really, really wanted to have some fun. Needed it, even. This bonding moment with Aubrey and Mikko right now, this non-work related, exciting chatter; the going out; as precipitating as it sounds she was starting to feel like she was finally making friends, establishing a life. But she also didn't want to be played around with.
"Ohhh, no, not necessarily" her coworker laughed, calming her down "Käärijä the performer is seductive, provocative, even uncontrollable" he took a sip from his drink, "But Jere the person is another story. Dude wouldn't even hurt a fly, I mean it" he reassured her. He then was about to say something else, but stopped on his tracks when they all noticed the man of the hour and the tow men who had performed with him coming over to them. However, he quickly commented to the girls the following before Jere could hear them: "If anything, he's the one who has been played around with".
Jere approached Mikko first, going in for a hug, which made total sense given the fact that they were friends. (Y/N) appreciated it, because his last comment had caught her by surprise. He had changed into some track pants and graphic loose t-shirt, and over all he already looked far more calmed down and back to his more, to put it some way, innocent self. Aubrey and (Y/N) exchanged a look before introducing themselves to the guys in pink, who had not changed their outfits. Their names were Jaakko and Aleksi.
"Hey, I recognize you. You were all in the bar that day I was here" she said as a realization. "Yes, we were planning tonight" Aleksi answered, "Did you like it?" he added, to both her and Aubrey.
While the four of them engaged in small talk, the girls understood that Mikko was congratulating his friend on his performance and Jere was thanking him, "Kiitos, Mikko, arvostan sitä todella", he said with appreciation on his face, closed smile and big puppy eyes (Y/N) couldn't ignore. With one last ruffle on his hair from Mikko, the two men stayed with one arm over the other's back and turned to the group.
"Alright, let's talk in English now so we can all understand each other..." Mikko started off. "I see you guys have already introduced yourselves, very good. Now let me introduce you girls to Käärijä himself, although maybe a certain someone doesn't need it" he playfully remarked, making Jere look away while hiding his face and (Y/N) roll her eyes. "Jere, these are (Y/N) and Aubrey from work. Aubrey, (Y/N), this is Jere" he played around using a formal tone and letting out of their embrace.
"Nice to meet you" Aubrey answered, shaking hands with him and gently pushing (Y/N) forward once she was done to signal her to do so as well.
"I finally know your name" he commented, making her chuckle, "Yes, I guess you do". Mikko and Aubrey swiftly moved to give them some space, going over to Jaakko and Aleksi, who were all in in the same unspoken plan.
"You like the show?" he seemed a bit nervous as he rested his elbow on the counter and signaled the waiter to get him a drink, while attentively listening to her answer, "Honestly, I'd never been to one quite like this. I mean, I've been to rock concerts and such, but this energy you guys put on stage was totally new for me. I really enjoyed it tho, you're really good" she sincerely said.
"Oh, thank you, really" Jere put a hand to his chest as to show gratitude, "It was first concert after months of not doing", he further explained, "So means a lot all people who come here, yes. I'm so happy for this, I was worried if not work well". He sounded so humble (Y/N) couldn't help but grow to like his personality even more. She was curious to know why he hadn't played in a way, but also didn't want to intrude, so she opted for another response. "Well you should be. We all had a blast".
"You understand anything I sing?" he wondered with a perky smirk, before taking a sip from the beer that had just landed in front of him. "I didn't need to", she let it out without giving it a second thought, almost as if this was the only real answer she could give, which to her felt absolutely true. He was shocked by it and spilled some of the drink out, quickly catching the dripping by covering his mouth with a napkin.
"Ah, I make fool of me now, great!" he tried to cover up by playing down the incident. She couldn't stop laughing out loud, some people even noticing the whole scene between the two of them, specially Mikko and company who laughed as well from a distance, "That's what you get for lying to me before" she joked, but grabbed a napkin as well to clean his shirt up, softly patting it on his chest. "Sorry, I wanted to surprise" he justified. It was in that moment that she noticed they were almost the same height. When her gaze moved upward from the stain she was cleaning up, his stare was way closer than she had thought. He carried on talking.
"Also, before, I hope I not make you... uh-, mikä on sana epämukavalle?" he looked over at Mikko for help regarding a language inquire.
"Uncomfortable"
"Yes, that" Jere said, "I hope I not make you uncom... uncomfortable when I, you know-" he tried to explain himself, struggling with the pronunciation. He stroked his own cheek to interpret what he attempted to say. "Oh! No no, don't worry, it was- it was okay. I liked it, actually", his relief was evident after she assured him. He let out a nervous giggle.
Then, something caught his attention. His gaze had travelled to the door, past (Y/N), and what he saw made his face turn dead serious, although also sad. Mikko, Aleksi and Jaakko very quickly noticed what was happening. Aubrey and (Y/N) also turned around to check it out: a girl was standing by the entrance looking for someone with a worried expression.
"Miten uskallat tulla tänne?" Jaakko expressed angrily. The three men addressed Jere, who suddenly was a loss of words and course of action.
"Ex alert" Aubrey whispered to (Y/N) while sipping from her drink's straw. "They're asking him if he wants to go talk to her" she informed her friend, which (Y/N) was thankful for. It was really tiring to not catch anything on her own sometimes. While the four men were talking to each other, deciding what to do next, (Y/N) grabbed Jere's arm and everyone's attention fell on her. She just couldn't stop strongly empathizing with him because she had also recently been through a break up and knew how shitty it was. Jere seemed more at ease when she talked, "Are you okay? Do you want to get out of here?" he looked past her again, everyone following his direction and realizing his ex was coming over to them. "I do, please", "Then we're getting out of here", (Y/N) decided, "You guys coming?" she asked the rest. "No, you guys go on. We'll make sure she doesn't follow" Mikko stated, thankful for her determination.
They said rushed goodbyes and (Y/N) got ahold of his hand to guide him towards the door. When they walked past her, she tried to talk, but they were quick to get out.
As per usual, it was freezing. They started to wander off to anywhere.
...
"I'm sorry about having to go"
They had found a comfortable spot in a park overlooking the town's river and had settled there. They had walked for a while, him trying to talk about anything else but his ex.
"Don't sweat it. I fully understand" she comforted him, then took the vape he had previously offered to her and took a puff before continuing, "I got broken up with three months ago... I hate to admit it, but it's part of the reason I ended up deciding to move here", she explained. He listened to her attentively, with a stern face.
The night was silent over here. It was only the sound of the stream and their hushed voices
"Can I ask why the break up?" he inquired, not wanting to pry on too much. "Only if I can ask why the break up", she made him chuckle. "Yes, of course" he accepted.
"She said I was too impulsive and that she couldn't trust me to maintain a steady and stable relationship, because I couldn't even do that with my own life" she sighed after her explanation and rolled her eyes.
"Wow" Jere said, disapproving look on his face "Hard thing to say".
"Yes, but honestly, I don't hold a grudge anymore. She had her right to think that way too. I do so too sometimes" she admitted, handing back the electronic cigarette, since they were taking turns to smoke.
"That's shit" he commented, which made them both laugh, "But I understand, too. "My ex, Sofia, that's her name, she uh- said she not approve of music career" his gaze moved upfront, "She said It's either me or music, and I think she not like my answer" Jere let out a half-sad cackle, "This is all I ever wanted to do. I loved her, I feel like I still do a bit, you know? But..." he nodded negatively before finishing the sentence, "I need someone who give support. What I told you before, the not doing concerts? A part of it was because I got, uh, insecure".
Silence fell between them as they both got lost in their own thoughts for a brief moment.
"You know, for someone who claims to not be good at English, you can maintain quite a deep conversation" her words made him belly laugh again. He looked at her and handed the vape once more. "Don't need Duolingo for that" he referenced. He was about to speak again but cut himself. "You can go on, it's fine", his doe-like blue eyes seeped cherishment.
"Oh, I not know, talking about ex was not in my plans when being alone with a girl I like" he made her blush, "I just thinking that, you know, I'm almost... mikä on sana" he struggled again with the language "Thirty year old?" he doubted if he had said it right, and the girl nodded to indicate him he had, "Thirty year old, and when younger I thought Oh, I achieve my dreams at thirty, have the family, all that... You know? And... nothing of that" he described, "My songs, some say that. But you not understand, so..." he added jokingly to lighten the mood, erupting laughter from her.
"Hey, I'm trying really hard to find a place where I can learn Finnish! Give me a break..." she defended herself, while the giggling from both of them died down. "But, just so you know, most of us feel this way too. Having your life figured out at thirty? That only happens to the lucky ones, I can assure you" she saw his tired expression and put a hand to his shoulder, "And by the way, you're crazy talented. We were all mesmerized by your performance. You can get to whatever place you want to be, and if you don't, well... It won't be because of your fault".
They were once again looking in each other's eyes. His gaze travelled down to her mouth. They were sitting close to one another as to avoid the cold wind. Her heart beat faster. How come did she feel like he had known him for such a long time if this was practically their first ever proper conversation? Yet she couldn't fight it. She had seen so many sides of him in such a short amount of time; she swore she'd never been that much of a romantic but the alcohol, mixed with how vulnerable they both felt in that moment and the fact that she was finally feeling at ease after more than a month of such a big change in her life, probably did the trick.
"Can- can I...?" he started nervously, but was interrupted.
"Yes"
Their lips crashed, finally killing the anticipation. Her hands cupped his face and his ones settled on her waist. She felt his long eyelashes touch her face, his beard tickled her jaw and his hoop piercing was cold on her nose. (Y/N) enjoyed feeling all these parts of Jere on her. He truly was so pretty. And suddenly, she wanted to make sure he knew just how pretty he was and how much he deserved to know it. The wave of boldness she had had to ask him to sit down with her those two weeks ago, but had been interrupted, came back as a stronger force.
When they separated to catch their breath, (Y/N) kept his face close to hers. He was panting through a timid smile and hot red burned his cheeks. She noticed her face doing the same thing.
"My apartment is a five minute walk from here" she suggested.
"Meidän on hyödynnettävä sitä" he whispered, hands going up and down her sides, and the Finnish language had never sounded so seductive to her.
"I didn't catch that",
"You don't need to. I will show you".

Hey, I have a question. I saw someone headcanon their hws Norway as part Sámi and use some Sámi elements in their fanarts to their Norway, what do you feel about that? Is it uncomfortable or weird if someone made their hws Norway half/part Sámi due to Norway’s history with Sápmi, or is it just “who cares lmao”?
Good question!
I think you would get a different answer from different Sámi, it's quite a hot topic nowadays of what is okay/not okay for "outsiders" to do with our culture. I think I'm more on the open side because I believe culture should be shared, that is the best policy. I have personally been to Japan and been invited to try their traditional clothes/practices, it was so amazing and educational! Though, I think there is a tasteful way of doing it. I would not be opposed to letting my friends try on my traditional clothing ect. (Actually, when you marry a Sámi you're technically Sámi too in our culture, so you adopt the dress from the area of your spouse. Sorry bf, when you marry me you are no longer Portuguese!)
Now, for me and with the story I have built around my OC Sápmi, I think it definitively makes sense for Norway (as well as Finland, Sweden and Russia) to be part Sámi, as he has been part of their upbringing. I do agree with @ifindus's head canon that Norway doesn't speak the language, since it is a dying language.
I guess, you could even argue that since he is not an official country (just a land area named Sápmi/Lapland) he could be "dead" in canon, like the other ancients (e.i. Scandinavia, Rome, Germania). I argue that because the Sámi culture is still strong and living, that he could still be alive, kinda like how Prussia is still alive.

18, 24, 25 and 30 for the ask game !!
Thanks for asking!! 😌
18. do you believe in ghosts and/or aliens?
I like ghost stories and real-life folklore type accounts of hauntings, I think they're fascinating, but I can't wholly commit to believing that ghosts/spirits are actually tangibly real djkddlld, since my general belief system is pretty sceptical. Maybe like 25% ? As for aliens - I don't think any of the reported sightings are real (I used to read a lot of children's books about stuff like this, like collections of Creepy Real Life Incidents) but I can't discount some sort of intelligent life existing outside the parts of the universe known to us 👀😌
24. what’s one thing you’re proud of yourself for?
Deciding to study a master's degree abroad and being admitted to the first and only programme I applied to fjfjkdkfkf. I'm constantly stressed out about what I'll do next, but living in Germany and studying at a German uni has been an amazing experience so far. I feel like I was meant to do this 😌
25. fave season and why?
It used to be late summer/early autumn - in Finland the school year starts in early to mid August when the weather is still very nice, and I used to get really hyped for each new year of studies haha. Idk maybe it's still my favourite, I think I'm most depressed in summer (nothing much to do, friends more unavailable) and winter (dark - in Finland also very cold and miserable. My friends from other countries complain about the German winter being miserable but to me it's like Miami 😭). Also, in autumn my choice of clothes blends in more, everybody else is looking dark academia/wearing dark or rich colours too 🤣 I don't really change my colour palette based on season lol but it's nice to be seen as fashionable because you happen to wear the right kind of stuff lmao
30. what’s one thing that never fails to make you happy/happier?
Music!! One of my favourite ways to get out of a funk is to put something on, usually nostalgic stuff I discovered in my early teens. Nightwish is a big one, it's so dramatic and I know all their stuff by heart so it's comforting 😌

also, as bojan is very new to being in love and in a relationship i'd like know 16, 19 and 22 for the monsterfucking au lmao
CACKLING AHHH Fun fact: @oneshotdepresso and I wrote that entire thing in comic sans. I actually tapped them to answer, so these are from them :)
16. What’s their favorite “domestic bliss” moment? Do they cook/clean together? Do they like to go out shopping together?
They're still long distance in this AU, so unfortunately they barely have any domestic bliss moments. Though perhaps, in one of Bojan's visits to Finland, he tries helping Jere cook dinner. Peeling potatoes and chopping vegetables while Jere does Everything Else. And Jere's teasing him about his lack of cooking skills while Bojan relishes in being annoying. It's fun and easy. A respite from their hectic lives. And it makes Bojan think, "Oh, this really is what falling in love feels like."
19. How do they silently/subtly express their love for each other?
Signature Bojan headpats to the nth degree. Jere finds a way to include Bojan in everything he does and if it means talking about his stinky underwear and stage clothes, so be it.
22. How do they apologize after arguments?
Joking-ish answer: Well. Insane monsterfucker sex.
More serious answer: Aside from that, since they pretty much got to the point they're at through the power of Talking, they simply just talk about whatever is going on. Besides, there's not much of a choice when they're usually physically apart because of touring.

Your thoughts on the gig and the guys? 👀👀
sooooooooooo the gig was PHENOMENAL i definitely think it doesn't translate in footage/videos how fucking HARD blind channel FUCKS live. even the people who were there for electric callboy seemed to be very impressed and this made me very proud of my boys 🥺
i was in second row (thanks to @sokeakanava and @braindeadfern I'LL NEVER THANK YOU ENOUGH 😭), on Olli and Tommi's side, and there was basically no space between the barricade and the stage so we were EXTREMELY close to them! i experienced the infamous Olli Eye Contact thing™️ and lost my breath for a few seconds. just so you know everything you read about it is true. another Olli thing: during the show a girl asked him for a pick and he didn't have one so he literally went to tommi, asked him for one, and handed it over to her and i swear it was SO CUTE???
i couldn't take my eyes off joel because he's the most handsome man ive ever seen in my life but maybe im biased 🙄 i genuinely thought he was extremely charismatic but every one in the band is!
aleksi is a fucking dream of a man im a bit ☹️ i couldn't see him very well from where i was (i miscalculated the size of the stage 💀). thankfully he moves a lot so it wasn't really a problem 🥰
these three were the ones that struck me the most but it's probably because joel and aleksi are my favorite and olli was right in my face (and extremely attractive 😳). the others were amazing too and their energy is something absolutely incredible. they're just so good!!
fyi one morning left (which i knew nothing about) and electric callboy fucking FUCK as well. the standard electric callboy sets is VERY high and i might go as far as to say this is the BEST line up I've ever seen in a show, even if i didn't know oml. i had the time of my life for the whole 3 hours 30 minutes. seriously
some other little facts: the venue was weird?? because it had this park area around the actual venue and we didn't even get in line until 5.30pm (with doors opening at 6.30); we sat around under these gazebos just chilling and minding our business. A FEW METERS FROM US the bands were just. minding their own business under their own gazebos. look:
Tumblr media
those were the gazebos where the bands hung out and on the far left of those, if aleksi had filmed a bit farther you could have seen us. so we basically stayed there all day NEXT TO THE FUCKING BANDS who also had to pass by us every time they had to go to the bus. i didn't really feel like going to talk to them and ask for pics because idk I'm always terrified of bothering people 😅 but some fans who were with us did manage to get pictures and stuff. at some point aleksi put a chair in the middle of nowhere and was just minding his business on his phone and two girls went up to him. i followed the whole scene and they talked a bit, he gave them a picture and an autograph and seemed so so sweet my heart melted guys 😭😭
(actually when i got to the venue (around 2pm) and went up to Eda and Karla, while i was hugging eda she went "look who's behind you" and it was aleksi sitting under the gazebo and i let out a unsettling screech lmao i wasn't expecting to see them)
Joel, Niko and Olli got there later while the others were already there when i arrived. like I'm gonna skip telling you about how I felt when saw joel the first time 😳 i found it funny tho that he'd just posted that story with the Armani Exchange bag after going shopping in Milan and when i see him he has an Armani Exchange t-shirt on 😂
they hung out in that park area after the show as well, but i only saw Joel passing by quickly (and the pictures he shared with fans were taken at that time)
another random thing: santeri changed clothes in the park. with all of us present. like i get it the lack of nudity taboo in Finland and everything but he was literally just standing there in his underwear 😂😂
this is all i can think of rn but I'm still processing the whole experience so i might add to this later 😅❤️
tl;dr they are fucking amazing

Hear me out, Diana is a world champion figure skater and Akko has a gay crush.
My @lwasanta gift for @kittykittycatcat01 !! Merry Christmas!
Bonus HCs because um ice gays My sister came up with all of these lmao
Diana's mom was an ice dancer
Akko couldn't skate for shit as a kid bc shitty balance but skated like. Every day and any moment possible in order to be somewhat good
Diana also had to practice A LOT. Ppl called her a prodigy but nope she's just persistent. Akko is just stubborn lol it's a little different
Chariot and Croix are skaters but Chariot always got gold during juniors and Croix got butthurt so she quit after Chariot went to seniors
Chariot retired bc she got old. Like yeah she set some records but she just decided to retire like a normal person?? Ends up as Akko's coach and listens to that girl fangirl every damn day except the girl soooo fucking dense lmao
Akko has high performance scores, Diana has high technical ones
Together they try and learn from each other! It doesn't go well but you know!!!!! Eventually!!!
Chariot/NowUrsula had high performance scores too, but also can jump without mcfreaking dying like Akko does
Akko has a gay celeb crush on Diana.
Diana lowkey has one on Akko too but it isn't really celeb crush bc Akko isn't really a celeb LMAOUHHHH
Akko is for Japan, Diana has UK, Lotte is Finland ig?? Wherever the heck they're all from
So. Diana wins all the euros, Akko gets a consistent bronze in the 4cc which is. The four continents. (Asia, Australia, North America/South America???? Africa too??? Basically just NOT Europe)
They met at Worlds (bc Akko never gets to gpf,,, like ever) or a gpf qualifier thing,,,, anyways
They Will Pretend like they don't admire e/o as skaters bc they fucking STUPID and some sort of misunderstanding happens,,,
Diana thinks Akko thinks that she's another arrogant stuck up skater + hates her
Akko thinks Diana thinks that she's just a nobody skater and doesn't know her at all (haha what a commemorative photo???? Haha)
Screw just having it be YOI, that's boring
Hannah and Barbara are pair skaters that are Diana's rinkmates
Suzy and Lotte exist! They're decent skaters but,,, don't get gold often.
Amanda is. Good. Probably. She's like,,, getting silver and fucking mad about it.
Did I mention Diana probs gets all golds??? Lmao. Akko WISHES. Says Diana is the next living legend like Chariot but haha no one knows where chariot fucked off too!! No one heard of Hair Dye or Baggy Clothing or Colored Contacts or even Moving Away. Lmao
Andrews dad hates ice skating. Except Andrew enjoys watching the sport. They're still business ppl
Andrew and Diana are neighbors
Let Andrew play piano. (Let him make the music for someone's FS. Yeah I just thought of this all randomly idk why)
Akko is stubborn as hell and gets to a competitive league through pure spite only. She studied in the US and met Lotte there at the rink. Suzy can skate but doesn't care for competitions as much as others.
Akko and Diana do ballet,,, Akko is impatient tho lmao,,
Diana is more graceful and flexible but she lacks emotion and heart into the sport (bc after her aunt realizes she got Famous the bitch sucked out all the joy of the sport, man)
Akko just loves skating. A bit competitive but realizes she won't really ever win??? Kinda defeatest outlook rip... But she tries!!!
So much emotion and performance and tears!!! (She's good at pop/cheerful/upbeat and also SAD SAD TEARSSSS shit. You know.) But cannot jump for shit. She sticks with doubles but like,,,, it's not enough really. (Women can't do quads yet. I think.)
Diana has high combos and sticks with classical music/elegant shit. She doesn't pick her music but she does choreograph it.
Akko meanwhile doesn't have good taste. Literally doesn't know how to choose songs really.
In a fic setting: Akko accidentally somehow makes it into the gpf on a fluke/by accident one year (like... She gets two bronzes or smt) and then diana/akko accidentally offend each other after the comp.
Wild misunderstandings. After that it's like. Pushing e/o to do better at worlds/ their respective comps of 4cc/euros.
They both get progressively better as they send e/o passive aggressive critiques and shit.
They happen to run into e/o at the rink/ballet studio at 4am at worlds and passive aggressively flirt before warming up and becoming friends
Akko actually lands a triple in her FS and Diana fucking gay heart dies
They end up chatting like. All off season/when you prep for the next season
Next season they happen to end up in the same qualifiers for the gpf and train at 4am together again.
Go on coffee "not dates" lmao.
Actually secretly dating but neither know it yet.
Pining? So much??? Pining???
At some point like. Maybe they both got Andrew to make them music for their FS. And their themes and shit match. Bc they are In Tune with e/o and EVERYONE thinks they coordinated but they're just gay and stupid.
So their themes are like. Love and life (except Diana has life and akko has love and it's the complete OPPOSITE of what they normally do and instead compliment e/o so much it's so gay)
Akko does a romantic gay love song that's like. Eros/violin shit with isn't what she normally does and chariot is just dying In The BG
Diana does more "pop"/ lively themes. It feels more alive ig??? It's more about the feelings,,,
Andrew, Frank, Lotte, + the others that are in the show are just. Trying so hard to wingman bc they're painful to watch. Like. So painful. So very painful.
Diana, jokingly: I only kiss gold Akko: I'll go buy some matching gold rings for good luck that we kiss before performances!! Diana, in gay crisis: sounds totally platonic!!! Haha yeah!!! Amanda, disgusted: that's gay you funky lesbians

Because my braincells decided to stay in London, have a thought.
Either the hetalia characters put on a rendition of Heather's the musical (pls watch it if you havent)
J.d is either Arthur or Ivan bc murderous intent, depression and very over the top, and the fact that he kills a bunch of people.
Veronica is either fuckin finland or Hungary bc idk I feel like it works.
The Heather's are the BFT bc france is a fucking diva and he would pull of heather Chandler like he was born for the role.
Or the plain thought of younger nations, HK, Iceland, Lithuania etc acting like actual grandpas in front of people their physical age.
Ok HK would be mostly fine, a he uses lots of old phrases which is a bit odd but no one questions it.
But when Iceland is trying to be cool he ways brings up things from a hundred to 30 years ago, ie he has said that disco was his favourite genre to seem cool, and everyone just looked at him bc my dude actually said disco.
And Latvia is a lost cause at this point, when he goes out drinking, (perfectly legally america) the bartender always keeps a close watch kn him bc a 16 year old draining a bottle of vodka should be bad, but he never seems worse for wear and has only ever been slightly tipsy when he and Ivan had a competition, used up far too much alcohol to be normal, outdrank Russia and managed to walk out in a straight line.
Plus he gets really nostalgic when locking at certain things, he could be looking around Riga and start waffling to himself about a historical monument and someone nearby is listening and going, "what the fuck is up with this kid" his house has old grandpa like wallpaper and he still has kne of those Soviet era box TVs and his language is clear and understandable, but like in the way somones grandparents would speak.
Djfkdsndf you sent this while I was on vacation and I forgot about it until now oops
I heaven't seen Heathers! Actually I only even know it's a musical because some of the songs were on a playlist I liked on spotify. I think it's not very popular in german speaking countries?? I've meant to watch it tho! I just need to finally sit my ass down and look for a link and.. do it. You have permission to steal my kneecaps if I still haven't watched it by new years. I promise I'll get back to this part of the ask when I've watched it.
Moving on! YES TO 'YOUNG' COUNTRIES ACTING LIKE OLD PEOPLE!! I love that. Iceland's clothes when he first appeared.. look at this. grandpa style <3 and liet too (but I couldn't find good picture)
Tumblr media
You know who Latvia reminds me of? Five from the umbrella academy. 60yo man trapped in the body of a 13yo boy. And lmao I love the idea of latvia just out-drinking Ivan like it's nothing XD also him getting asked for an ID has the same energy as Maria from shinmai mao no testament looking younger than the other's who go to school but she acts like their babysitter and deadpan got herself a driving license.

Cos of the news that's been released this morning I think I can now talk about that Eurovision thing uhh who tf is stupid enough to believe he did cocaine???
Let's talk about first how that definitely only started because they won, had they lost or had it been any other country that won and leant over a table nobody would have said a WORD, but just cos they won someone idk reckoned it'd be funny to start a drugs rumour? Just because they won it's a rumour that'll go round, and to the idiots who believed it that's ruined the band's image and the image of Eurovision. I mean, it shouldn't do now cos he's been cleared but I guarantee someone out there won't believe him.
The other thing that really got me thinking was that, this rumour was believable, right? A rock and roll singer leaning over a table, well he's obviously doing drugs, right? As I said, had it been any other artist (well maybe not Finland but that's also not strictly true) the rumour wouldn't have started at all or it wouldn't have been believable, because he's a rock and roll singer. He's in a band, they're sex and drugs and rock and roll, aren't they? They sing classic rock and roll style songs, he has loads of energy when performing, there's NO way they're not doing drugs. It sounds silly to me, and other fans of this genre I'm sure it will sound silly to you, but to the outside it's the standard that everyone is on drugs all the time. That doesn't come from nowhere, there was and probably still is a lot of drug use in bands before or during live shows, at parties, just a casual Saturday night, there's no denying that, but for someone to look at a band and automatically presume they are on drugs, even at a big public event like Eurovision, it sounds stupid. I'm sure even the bands that do some drugs won't do it at something like Eurovision, they have SOME common sense. I mentioned that if the rumour spread for Finland it probably wouldn't have been as believable, and again I think it's the type of music. Finland were more modern nu metal, the stereotype for that music is cigarettes and daddy issues, not drugs. This whole rumour was only believable because of the stereotype of classic rock and roll acts, and there's no denying it comes from a place of truth, but not everyone is involved with that aspect of it, and the fact people will associate anyone who performs that music with drugs and then proceed to drag their public image for it is quite horrible to me.
Anyway that's all, I wanted to post this yesterday but I thought I should wait until he'd cleared the test (even though just him saying he'd do the test even when the EBU said they trusted him was enough) so nobody could try and twist the narrative cos idk their generic pop singer wearing the same clothes singing the same song all bloody night long (they were all dressed the same and all sang the same song I'm sorry) didn't do as well. Rock and roll never dies, that's just it 😂. That was kinda mean I'm sorry I'm all for not judging music taste but idk how anyone had a favourite out of half the songs that looked and sounded the same lmao.

Honestly I don't really get very many skam vibes (honestly I think most people are saying this because it's scandinavian and gay lmao). Young Royals is definitely more dramatic than skam, but both skam and yr have good representation of teens. Like, sex/drugs/alcohol isn't romanticized, teens are allowed to have acne and wear the same clothes more than once, and there are strong female friendships
Hi anon 🎈 Thanks for your comments! I feel like at this point I'm intrigued not so much because of the premise of the show, but because of the way people talk about it. 😂
Like, are people being vague about the similarities because they don't want to straight up say that the similarities are that it's Scandinavian and gay? Also, how similar is the ~Scandinavian vibe? I say this because when I really got into Skam I noticed a lot of differences between Norwegian culture (like, Russ is an exclusively Norwegian thing for one) and that of other Nordic countries like Sweden, Denmark, Iceland or Finland. It's the way Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain are all Southern European, and are even grouped as a whole sometimes (the PIGS business), and there are some cultural similarities of course, but I'd still be ???? if someone said "omg if you loved Elite you should def watch Baby!" I don't know if I'm making any sense.
I'm also really curious about what the target audience for this show is, like, is it meant to appeal to gay teenage boys? Or is it more meant to appeal to girls/women who like certain romance tropes like royalty AUs, boarding school tropes, etc? (To give an example and make what I mean clearer, Queer as Folk was obviously marketed at gay men even though it found an audience with women who are into mlm romance.) I find either possibility interesting, because it's obvious that women have been into mlm romance for a long time now. And even though many networks have created media to cater specifically to certain romance audiences (like Twilight or 50 Shades, but also Bridgerton or even Noora's season on Skam, itself), I don't think there are many examples of shows/movies created specifically to cater to women who are into mlm romance. Even Isak's season, though ostensibly on a show for teen girls, wasn't marketed that way (imo). And if the case is that it's marketed at gay teen boys, then I'd put it with shows like Love Victor, although perhaps more plausible in some ways (the attitudes towards sex/drugs/alcohol that you mention) and more tropey in others (the whole royalty stuff is tropey as hell).
At any rate, I'm glad that people have found a light-hearted show they like. Like it might not be the most groundbreaking show in the world, but I don't think it has to be. Sometimes people just want light content you know?

Way by the Wood?
lmao I completely forgot this was part of the ask game. WBTW is a novella I’m writing, about a middle-aged married couple in Finland who end up becoming inter-dimensional travelers after the main character Wanda’s husband Obrecht vanishes in the woods one day. When she finally finds him he’s delirious and talks about nothing but a door he found in the forest, through which he saw unspeakable things. The experience changes him and he’s no longer content to live their peaceful lives, so Wanda decides to pack up with him and go to find the door (mostly humoring him).
They do, of course, find the door and become universe hoppers, people who have inadvertently discovered portals into the unknown and found themselves wanting after their first taste. But as the years go by and they find themselves separated by forces out of their control, Wanda begins to wonder if they’ve perhaps gone too far—and if they’ll ever find their way back home or back to each other.
I’m using a more whimsical writing style with this one to give it a bit of a fairytale vibe. The timeline spans across thirty-seven years so they’re both quite old by the end. I’ve never written a story centering a married couple before and rarely write m/f couples at all so it’s pretty different as far as characters go. I’m enjoying it though and am going to make it as painful as possible. I want ugly sobbing at the end of it. Here’s some parts I like most:
It was on a bright winter’s morning in January that Obrecht Hämäläinen disappeared, and only his wife Wanda was there to miss him. (The first line)
-
They sold the chickens, because neither of them were sure how long they would be gone and Obrecht didn’t want to come home to find bones. The man who lived nearest came willingly after they dug up their old rotary and his number, trundling in with his pickup to haul the lot away for a handful of markka by evening that next day. Then they called their few family members, chatting idly with her Aunt Aada and his nephew Tomas, making vague talk about visiting at Christmas or exchanging holiday cards. Nothing concrete, no formal plans made, but it was enough of a goodbye that perhaps their leaving wouldn’t sting so badly if anyone came calling.
The laundry was done and clothes were packed. They tucked away sewing kits and a disposable camera, Wanda’s stock of cloth pads for her monthly bleed, and as many socks as they could fit into their rucksacks—because who could say how much walking their adventure would require? Obrecht gathered their most durable silverware, three bowls, and two small cups. When she caught him slipping their finest bottle of wine into the final pocket of his pack he offered no explanation beyond a wink and a grin.
-
“I think I see lodgings up ahead,” Obrecht said, stepping over a stream of run-off in the road.
Wanda noticed it too late to avoid it. Her shoes, so worn and faded by the months of travel, went sodden in an instant as she splashed into the puddle, her socks squelching against her toes. “Oh,” she grumbled, stepping to the side—
And then she woke up.
Her head was aching and she’d slept at a funny angle, so that her neck had turned oddly through the night and protested when she sat up. Only—had it…been night? When had she gone to sleep? And where…
There were trees all around her, tall and looming, and it was dark. The chill in the air left gooseflesh on her arms even though she remembered it being quite warm only moments ago. A fine layer of snow cushioned the ground beneath her, scraped about by her movements. And the leaves on the trees were shaped in a way she had never seen before. It was all so unfamiliar. It felt foreign. It smelled foreign. She could not, then, be in Finland, or the world she and Obrecht had…had…
She was alone. Obrecht was nowhere in sight.
“Obrecht?” she whispered, scrambling to her feet. Her socks were still wet but her discomfort seemed terribly unimportant all of a sudden. “Obrecht, dear, are you there? Obrecht?”
There was no one around, only her in this strange forest, in this strange world, and for a moment Wanda couldn’t allow herself to think it. Because surely they had not been—she hadn’t—surely—
“Obrecht!” she shouted, turning about again and again, like she could conjure him where she stood and all would be well again. But he didn’t appear. There was only her. “Please. Please, Obrecht.”
There must have been a door somewhere in that puddle. She had fallen through too quickly to realize. Where was her husband? Had he remained there in that other world, however many dimensions away? Or had he been lost to a hop of his own? Was he waking up just as she had, bewildered and disoriented, in a strange land, alone? Or was he finding she was gone, turning round to find her missing without a trace? Would he wait for her? Would he come find her?
“Take me back,” she begged to the empty air, and pounded her fists on a tree until her knuckles were raw and bloody. “Take me back!”
She was alone. Obrecht was gone, there was no portal, no door, and she was alone.
“Take me back,” she gasped, dropping to her knees in the snow. Her hands stung and there was a pressure building behind her eyes. “Please…take me back to him.”
The forest was silent. And at last Wanda could not hold back the sob fighting its way up her throat. What was she to do? Where was the door? If she could find the door, then…
But she was alone. Wanda had never been the one to find the doors; it had always been Obrecht. Obrecht, who was worlds away, who had all of the answers. Obrecht, who would know what to do when she never had.
“Take me back,” she sobbed, laying her head against the bark of the tree, and wept like a child until the blackness of sleep dragged her down.
-
“Have you seen him?” she breathed into the quiet, even though she already knew the answer.
Nadja didn’t respond, though Wanda could see the line of her shoulders go taut for an instant. She had not seen Obrecht. No one here had; not once in thirty-six years.
-
“I don’t even know where to begin,” she laughed, wiping tears from her cheeks. Her bones creaked as she stood. “There’s just so much…I have so many stories to tell you.”
“Come, sit,” Obrecht said, eyes shining as he pulled up a chair and poured her a glass of wine. “Have a drink. I want to hear everything.”

So uhhhh lawyer au. Who's locked up and why? (like Prussia) Also are there any characters who have side jobs that come into play even if they're not regularly in the office or court? (like how N. Italy(?) was in charge of suits)
Yes....lawyer Au again... :D I’ve missed it
Inmate 44671-E-8: Alastair Kirkland is the eldest of the Kirkland brothers. As they grew up, he set a terrible example for his brothers. He still gets himself in trouble but is slowly trying to better himself. He’s in the middle of a four year sentence for an armed B&E, where he also injured three officers while resisting arrest. Prison isn’t very fun but he’s learning to mellow out and control his inner rage. He tries to keep in contact with Arthur but he usually refuses to see him. Ali also tried to hire Art to defend him in court but he refused then too. Ali was prosecuted by Natalya Braginsky two years ago. Arthur sat in the public viewing area with a coat and hat on so he wouldn’t be recognized. Alastair has a girlfriend who he met through a prisoner dating site but when he gets out, he plans on dumping her and moving far, far away.
Peter Kirkland: Peter’s a freshman in highschool who’s been to juvie twice, both for assault. He thinks Arthur is a kiss-ass and he thinks his delinquent brothers are awesome. He goes and sees Alastair in prison every other week and calls him from home if Ali’s alllwed to have phone time. Arthur rents a car to drive up to his family’s house every month or so just for peter, to check in on him. Peter’s an ass though. Last time Art went to see him, he hotboxed Art’s rental car and left burn marks in the car seats...on purpose. Deep down, Peter is afraid of being sent to prison for real but he craves attention. So he acts out. He’s gonna get a taste of reality soon enough...cause once he turns 16 he can be tried as an adult...Uh oh. Arthur is very worried but he doesn’t show it, instead he just yells at Peter or lectures him endlessly with his lawyer talk. Lammmeeeeee
Łukasiewicz, the magician: Feliks ‘Ken Ka-Dazzle’ Łukasiewicz is a traveling magician who won an American talent television show. He travels around Europe and the Americas to perform his act with various circuses or (occasionally) a cirque show. He had his own show in Las Vegas for a summer and performed in another casino for a few nights in the fall while another act fell ill. Feliks was suspected of robbing and killing another magician! He hired defense attorney Herdarvey(did not spell that right lmaoooo) to defend him!! His case was all over the news and people still believe he committed that murder despite the judge and jury ruling him ‘Not Guilty’ after a gruesome full three day trial. Because Eliza defended him so greatly, Feliks pays the rent for her law firm and the rent for her house! He also sends her flowers and cards often despite her husband hating it.
Firefighter Oxernstina: Tino is a firefighter! I talked about him a bit before! He was a firefighter in Finland before moving to LA with his parents! He went though the fire academy there (again) and was quickly hired by the Los Angeles fire department! He was welcomed in without a hitch!! His coworkers love working with him. Tino loves his job too, he works seven nights a month and gets paid very nicely. He loves saving people, it just!!! Makes him feel so good. He met Berwald at a city worker event and married him about a year and a half later. They’ve been married for a little over six years now and they’ve got an adopted son, Oscar, from Sweden! Tino’s side job is coaching the highschool hockey teams! He loves those kids! Berwald comes to every match he can to be supportive. He also brings Oscar to hopefully spark an interest in hockey for him
Eduardo Sousa-Carriedo: Eduardo is Antonio’s step brother. The two do NOT get along but when they’re forced to go to a family gathering, they act very friendly. Eduardo is a private investigator who works out of San Francisco. He lives there but he isn’t around much, he spends a lot of time in Brazil working for big businessmen there. It’s all under the table of course! He makes a pretty penny doing that but he doesn’t live like a rich guy. He has an average house, a nice car...he flaunts his wealth subtly. Diamond earrings, expensive watches, custom briefcases, sleeve tattoos, designer sunglasses. That kind of stuff. He has a handful of clients in Los Angeles so he’s forced to go sometimes and avoids his brother like the plague. And speaking of avoiding, he also has his ex-wife to worry about. She isn’t really tbag important though. After their bitter divorce, she’s been after him trying to get more and more money. Ugh. What a pest. Eduardo plans on moving to Brazil eventually, disappearing without a trace so she can’t find him. That’s how badly he wants her out of his life.
Angelique Dieudonne: Angelique is a casino chain owner! She has multiple locations, the biggest being in Monaco, Vegas, LA, Madrid and NYC. She’s never in one place for too long, she hops locations constantly. Many believe that she’s hosting a huge money laundering scheme but no one talks. She’s practically untouchable. She’s got a team of lawyers, social media managers and advisors on her side. She strikes down videos about her, she refuses on-the-spot interviews, makes employees sign contracts to keep them quiet. All kinds of stuff!!! She’s very powerful. She buys out casinos in popular areas and makes them her own. Her casinos are large and glamorous! Casino goers are usually too busy being drunk and feeling like royalty to realize how much money they’re REALLY spending on games. But that’s all a part of her plan. The prosecutors have a blast talking conspiracy, Ivan gets especially heated about it. He can’t wait for her downfall and claims that he’ll throw a party when she goes to prison
Gianni Vargas: Feli and Lovi’s younger brother. He’s a highschool student who works at the shop with Feli on weekends! He is not allowed to go to work with Lovi because he’s ‘hazardous’ and ‘inattentive’...which may be true. He has little interest in Lovino’s job cause he thinks working with dead people is gross. He looks up to Feliciano though! He wants to be stylish and suave like him! He plans on going into art school after he graduates. He wishes he could drop out of highschool to work in the clothing store with Feliciano but that would never be allowed!!! He goes with Feli to deliver suits so he’s a familiar face at the prosecutors office!! Francis is especially kind to him when he comes around “Awww! There’s my favorite style icon!!” It’s embarrassing but he thinks that Francis dresses cool so he puts up with it. When he turns 18, Gianni’s gonna get his own custom suit from Feli and their grandpa!! Only four more months!! He dreams of his soon to be suit every night!! The fitted pants...the padded shoulders....the fancy buttons...oh boy!!
((There are spelling errors but I am too lazy to fix them lmao sorry :) and there is more to add but I have fake nails on and it’s a muricle that ive managed to type this much haha

Lol I had the wildest die ärzte dream in a while :D:D:D
Okay here we go: I had forgotten to check Bademeister.com and when I went there, there was a link and a new music video. It started from some sort of log house, like a vacation resort you can find from Canada or from somewhere else on the mountains. But I think it was actually in Switzerland. It was this lobby with a fireplace and everything looked warm and nice, lots of dark red wood (like red as in wood color, not actual red) everywhere, the camera was spinning very slowly from left to right, revealing that there were people sitting in a circle on chairsm, with some of them having guitars on their laps. One of these people was Rod. He looked slightly like he did in Schrei nach Liebe video, with a fake beard. I don’t remember if there was music yet.
The camera kept turning to the right and I just started wondering: where are Bela and Farin? When I finally saw them. They were standing behind this reception desk, Farin was either taking care of the cash register or wiping the counter (which was black marble, wood was again dark brown). Bela was a few meters closer and he was just dancing his brains out there. Then he just ran towards Farin, grabbed his hand and they started spinning around really fast, bit like how Jack and Rose did in Titanic when they were dancing. I’m not sure if there was a third man involved because I couldn’t see properly, but then they stopped and Bela “cried” because they were spinning around way too fast, and Farin was stroking his back. They were wearing their normal black clothes and the hairs looked like it was from 2013/2013 era. There were also other people behind the desk but I didn’t care to look at them that much.
Next Bela and Farin just stood there with their backs towards a curtain that was behind them, there were also some boxes between them and the curtain, and they were holding hands and looking around cautiously and just started to back away towards the curtain. I think the curtain was turquoise in color? Either that or some dark warm color to go together with all the dark brown wood, but anyway they just backed away and once they were close enough, they slipped through the curtain to the back rooms. I think it was where you got to the staff’s rooms as it was still a vacation resort/hotel.
Then the scenery changed. The curtain was more like a portal to some other place. It looked like a desert but more like a video game desert? There were stuff and buildings but I can’t see them clearly. Two other men, who I don’t know, came out or went through the curtains and then I saw Bela and Farin running out from there, still holding hands and looking super happy. At this point I think there was music already, and it was clear that they were not themselves but more like playing characters of the music video. They even went by some character names, the first thing to come to my mind when I woke up was that they would have been called “Dolannes” and “Melodie” but I’m not sure. (I checked my music library now and I don’t know what that song is, I just know Alleine Economy was named that and that there’s also some live cover of a song with the same name, idk if it’s an actual cover or what.)
To be continued... (under the read more link lol, my dreams are sometimes very long adventures :D)
There was actually lots of people in the area. But everyone was from different medias, like tv series or movies. I can’t see properly who they were and from where but everyone was like some weird die ärzte alternative universe version. If you know those movies or tv series when they hire someone almost a lookalike to play a character and for a moment everything looks normal until you see it and it’s confusing instead. Like you expect it to be THE character but then you realize it’s not? Everyone in the dream - apart from Bela and Farin as their characters, was like that. And thanks to Tumblr (and one old online friend who loves the series and has talked about it to me a lot in the past!) - I have never watched Supernatural in my life and yet there was suddenly a camera close-up looking at someone laying on the ground and when they lifted their head, it was Castiel from said tv series. But he didn’t look like the actor, it was yet again some alternative universe version. I just remember being like “no NOT YOU AGAIN, NOT IN A die ärzte VIDEO???” because I have already filtered the tags on Tumblr and yet can’t get away from all this. And then even dä had the show in their new video lmao. But then I was also finding it hilarious because apparently Bela knew his media XD
Anyway, at some point there was also someone flying, like a super hero, and floating down from the air but I only could see legs and a part of a cape. I think it was a she, but the style was like old Superman comic who were tights etc. There were people gathered around her on the ground, looking up at her. I think at some point everything started to make sense and that place was like some promised land and paradise of “gays who never got to be openly and accepted gays in their medias”. So they could go through that curtain and go into this gay paradise and be happy there lmao. And this was some... weird die ärzte against homophobia plotline that you saw if you were open minded. This whole dream has bit of the color scheme of their M&F video, too. The curtains, if they were turquoise, at least were the same color as the background in the video.
I then remember being at my parents’ house and I was watching the video from my laptop and as the song was playing, I just said to my brother “This is the new die ärzte song.” I could hear the song so clearly in my head, it did not sound like dä at all, it was very slow-paced, almost some art rock sounding, kinda eerie piece. There was vocals but they did not sound like any of them, so my brother just answered that he thought it was some other band - he said the name but I don’t remember it, I don’t think that was even a real and - and I was then thinking out loud that this could actually be a Rod song if he wanted to make a much more experimental song this time.
Then it changed and got zoomed out and showed a map. It was like an European/world map but it was different from the actual map, but it showed Rod was in Switzerland and that was the only part that looked realistic. Bela was actually heading to West and Farin was going to somewhere that looked like the below part of Finland but it was around the area of Middle East, yet it said Farin’s going on an adventure to the Artcic Circle next.
***
Next thing I know was me making a Tumblr post, I just remember writing there:
The new dä video
*video here but I didn’t have the link yet and needed to find it first*
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
And as I was typing those emojis, somehow it turned into me typing a text message or something with my phone and I couldn’t get those emojis out at all, somehow they all were just different emojis portraying old grandmas. And one was even a image of my cousin making a stupid face and I don’t know where did that come from cos I don’t even have her photos in my phone :DDD
I also dreamt about Tumblr: yesterday I actually did the post about how you can send me dä related art requests and I dreamt that my ask box was filled with requests. Lots of people were also sending me just emojis, like thumbs up emoji or something. And then one and the oldest of the asks was someone asking me what is a rhubarb pie and if I can make a post about Finnish rhubarb pie, and so I did.

Rammstein mentioned in Finnish media
I have no idea why, but Rammstein is super popular in Finland. Almost everyone here seem to have an opinion about them: some think they are just a bunch of weirdo German guys who love cannibals while some are hardcore fans, appreciating their art and getting what they are trying to say with their dark lyrics and heavy riffs. There are also a lot of people who just enjoy the shows for entertainment and have perhaps heard a song or two via radio, but not considering themselves fans. (Reminds me of a bunch of guys in the gig in Helsinki in 2012 who were getting drunk before getting into the venue, talking loudly how they were finally able to escape their wives, lmao.)
I did some research what Finnish media has said about Rammstein and I found some funny and very random stuff as well. Reading these news reminded me of one interview where Ollie or Schneider said that fans understand them much better than general media and it was visible in most of the stuff I found: the journalists clearly didn’t  have the slightest clue about the band. They are often referred in biggest media channels (like Yle or Iltalehti) as “a heavy band with big explosion who love to boil their keayboardist, omg :O:O:O” There are also some really cute and nice stuff, especially when the fans are speaking and not only some random journalists.
But yeah, here are some random articles/news/whatever that relate somehow to Rammstein. Tell me if there is something you want to be completely translated and also, share your country’s media’s interpretations, I’d love to see them!
- This was actually quite cute article about the Ratina concert last summer (you know a country is small when there’s a huge hype about big international stars coming there, especially to a city that is not their capital). They were asking people about their opinions of Rammstein and everyone seemed to be very enthusiastic about the concert. There was even a guy from Australia who came all the way to Tampere to see them. Amazing.
- Not completely Rammstein related, but an article about a metalhead priest who uses Rammstein’s music as her inspiration when she writes sermons. Awesome.
- When world-famous artists come to Finland and even decide to take a couple of days off here after their concerts and not flying immediately back home, it’s worth mentioned in news. They said Rammstein went to fishing and sauna. :33 There was also a poll where they asked what you’d recommend for artists who come to Finland - coming to my place, of course!
- Our boys had to pay 200k euros for the new lawn for Ratina Stadium because the football people were upset.
- A review of the gig, where the writer wasn’t clearly satisfied about what he saw. He was for example complaining that the start of the show was weak and the band had on purpose given permission for taking photos only of the three of the first songs when “there didn’t happen anything interesting yet.” He also said that: “Rammstein is famous for their outrageous performances” and under the picture of them all in Was ich liebe: “there are six German guys on the stage wearing funny costumes but no flames or visuals.” I dunno, but it was funny. They also wrote Sehnsucht as “Shensucht” at first and I cracked up a bit.
- Once again, a proof you live in a small country when PAUL LANDERS AND CHRISTOPH SCHNEIDER MENTIONED FINLAND IN THEIR INSTAGRAMS OMMMMMMGGGGGG It’s also a bit weirdly written as they say the band met their fans and “were even willing to have photos with them”. Hellooo Iltalehti, never heard about Meet and Greet?
- ZOMG TILL LINDEMANN IS FISHING NAKED IN OUR COUNTRY! AND ALSO, HAS TAGGED FINLAND!! The title is btw super hilarious, it’s even difficult to translate word by word, but it says: “Rammstein is cannoning once again tonight in Tampere - though Till Lindemann is fishing in his own peace without a single piece of clothing still.” Even though the magazine is ultimate garbage, I have to give points for the title.
- A badly written piece of news about the Paulchard kiss. It says: “The band’s two guitarists got excited about kissing each other on the stage.” Lmao. I also died when there was a picture of Paul on top and in the caption it says: “Till Lindemann, the singer of Rammstein.” Close enough.
- A comment from a 70-year-old guy in the city of Tampere’s local newspaper. It went pretty viral fast. The guy, who lives 4km from the venue, said that the horrible cacophony of the concert in Ratina ruined his sleep that night. He even measured the decibels with his phone. About the music and fans he said: “It was repetitive bass thumping” and “the people in the stadium must have been in some kind of trance.” Well, hell of a trance it was then. He also made up a hilarious word “melusaasteaivopesu (noisepollutionbrainwash) that I definitely need to use somewhere, it’s so creative.
- The city of Kerava started giving German lessons with Rammstein lyrics in their local folk’s high school and it got super popular. The course was even filmed briefly to our news. There was also in some other piece of media interview about the principal of the school who was shocked when somebody told her what Rammstein is singing about when the lessons were supposed to be suitable for everyone, lol. In the end, they translated the lyrics of “Mein Land”, “Deutschland” and “Du hast” in the actual course, so not that bad. Can only wonder would they have showed it in the news though if “Bück dich” would have been there...

survey by egooverdose
Japan: What is one stereotype you associate with Asian countries/people? :/ :/ Uhm...
Jelly Bracelets: Do you have any? In which colors? Have you ever broken one? I seem to have forgotten what these refer to, but I’m sure I had a couple that didn’t last long. I wasn’t much into bracelets as a kid. Joakim Berg: Who is your favorite foreign singer|musician? Do you translate his or her lyrics? Beyoncé, I guess. All Americans are foreigners to me. I don’t translate her lyrics, nor do I do that with any other songs in English.
Josh Todd: Do you have any tattoos? If yes, what made you decide to get them? No, but I’d love a couple that symbolize important things or people, like a bowl of nachos for Nacho and each of my dogs’ pawprints.
kent: Say something in a foreign language? The word ‘kampana’ is Filipino for bell.
Kundera: What is one philosophy you have regarding life|living|purpose? Idk, I’m starting from scratch after the shitstorm that was this year. I have to find one again. I’m not rushing, though, and I want to give myself as long as I need to regather. Fuck knows I need to be kind to myself right now.
Learning: What is something you enjoy learning about? Off the top of my head, anything that doesn’t involve machines tbh. I can read about anything Wikipedia and encyclopedias have to offer, but I draw the line at factories and automobiles and engineering and robots and stuff lmao, it’s just not my thing.
Minimalist Interior Design: How would you design the inside of your own home? You already mentioned it; minimalist. I don’t want a lot of furniture and a lot of color in my space. I’d be happy with a minimal number of items organized in a meaningful way with some pastel shades here and there.
Miserable Weather: What is a weather-type that you like that not many others do? Thunderstorms, I guess? It’s been a hit or miss for me these days though; I’ve found myself crying more when it rains...but for the longest time I’ve enjoyed bleak and rainy weather. I’m not planning to drop it as my favorite just yet.
Morning: Are you friendly in the morning, or are you barely awake? I’m friendly at work from the start to the end of my shift because it’s the nice thing to do, and because I have to be. But I’m almost always anxious and on the brink of breaking down every morning. Since it’s WFH, no one from work has to know that.
Music: How important is music in your life? It’s slowly becoming significant again. I got a Spotify subscription for myself after years of sharing with Gab’s account lol, so I’ve been revisiting the music that I had to set aside for months while I had to grieve on my own. It was brutal the first few days and I cried a lot when I heard my go-to sad songs again, but I soon realized I need releases like that and so I’ve been a little more unafraid to listen to music each day.
Oasis: What is a band you remember liking from your childhood? Paramore? HAHAHAHA they were the first band I ever loved, man. And I’m happy I get to say I still very much love them.
Opinions: Do you ever get mad at people for not having the same opinion as you (i.e. Abortion being wrong|right, Meat-eating being wrong|right)? If it’s the kind of opinion that will step on fundamental human rights, like being vehemently against same-sex marriage, then we will have a problem. Otherwise, I don’t care if someone prefers Android or having pineapples on their pizza unless they’re being an asshole about it.
Orchids: What is your favorite type of flower? Does it grow where you live? Peonies. Idk, I guess so? I don’t speak flowers.
Outerspace: Do you think there's a possibility of life out there? There sure is; the universe is so vast. I wish we’re able to learn more in this lifetime, though; I wouldn’t want to miss out on future discoveries.
Photo-Editing: Do you edit any of your pictures? In what ways? Sometimes I’ll add a cute or flattering filter; that’s the furthest my editing skills go. I don’t use advanced applications like Photoshop and I don’t know how to remove moles or stray hairs or whatever.
Photography: If you like to take pictures, what is your motivation? I’m not into photography per se, like it’s not a hobby of mine or anything; but I do like taking photos of special or funny events. It’s nice to have a memento for a little bit of everything going on in my life.
Poland: Would you ever consider living anywhere cold? Yes. Maybe not Norway or Finland levels of cold, but somewhere considerably cooler than the humid hot mess I currently live in. When I went to Jeju four Aprils ago, they had the p e r f e c t temperature I could ever ask for and it was sooooo perfectly and comfortably cold in that I got to walk around in shorts but I never shivered or got goosebumps.
Potatoes: What is your absolute favorite food? It used to be burgers, but my mom has been making so many cheeseburgers the last few weeks that I need to take a break from them lol. Right now, my favorite would be sushi.
Questions: Do you like to ask questions, or answer them? Answer them, hence this blog.
Quirks: What are some weird things about you? Depends on what you count as weird. By far, people have been weirded out the most by the fact that I don’t eat fruits and will avoid them like the plague. I don’t mind the reactions and it’s actually turned out to be a great icebreaker, so I whip out that factoid pretty often haha.
Quizzes: When was the last time you were tested on something? I had a blood test last May because we needed to know if my fever was dengue or something else. Turned out to be a UTI.
Radiohead: Do you like any depressing bands? After Laughter is sad as shit but I wouldn’t say Paramore is generally known by this image. None of the other bands I listen to would count as ‘depressing.’
Rings: How would you describe the size of your fingers? They’re long and slender, which I love.
Satire: Do you enjoy political satire? It’s a hit or miss. I generally don’t seek it out.
Singing: Who do you know personally that has a nice singing voice? Leigh.
Skinny Jeans: Would you wear them? Or do you hate them? I wear them, but I hate them.
Smashing Pumpkins: Listen to the band, or take it literally and actually GO smash pumpkins? xD Neither.
Snakes: Would you ever wear snake-skin pants, or other animal clothing? I used to wear leather shoes because it was required for school. I avoid the practice now.
Snow: What, to you, is the best part about snow|snowy weather? You tell me, lol. I’ve never experieinced snow before.
Space: Do you like to have your own space? Are you independent? It’s definitely important to have it every now and then; I’m actually taking this survey from a Starbucks because I needed so baddddd to get out of the house. It’s the first time I’m out on my own without having to do errands since March, and it feels kinda nice.
As for being independent, I’ve been mostly a dependent person and I like having people to lean on, but my breakup has also been pushing me out of my comfort zone and to try out new things just by myself. We’ll see where this takes me in a few months.
Starry Nights: When was the last time you gazed at the night sky? Last Saturday.
Stockholm: What foreign country would you like to go to for a shopping spree? Do I really have to go to another country for this? Hahahahaha idk maybe Shanghai? The people there were dressed so well when I visited.
Studded Belts: Do you own any? What do you think of them? Nope.
Suave Shampoo: What is your favorite shampoo scent? Brand? I don’t have a preference for either. As long as it’s able to clean my hair, it’s fine.
Sunglasses: What kind do you own|wear, if any? Do you like them? I don’t really. I don’t like my vision getting tinted.
Surveys: How many surveys do you think you have taken since you've started? My old survey blog has nearly 1500 while this one has a little over 1000, then add what’s probably a few hundreds that I did in 5th grade but never saved anywhere...so maybe somewhere between 2500 to 2700 in total? Hahaha I honestly thought it would be more.
Sweden: Do you ever feel like you should have been born in another country? I think nearly everyone from the Philippines thinks this.
Swedish Fish: What is a candy you often enjoy? Gummy anything.
Tea: Do you like tea more than coffee, or the other way around? I love coffee; I’m drinking one right now :D I never enjoyed tea.
The Beatles: My brother gets mad if people say they aren't the best band ever; what about you? Then I guess I shouldn’t be talking to him.
Theories: What do you think will happen to you after you die? Sleep.
Thom Yorke: If you met your favorite musician, what would you ask him|her? If we were in a Covid-free society, all I’d ask for is a hug, really. I wouldn’t have anything to ask them.
Thought: What do you spend most of your day thinking about? I’m still grieving about the stuff I’ve already covered.
Thought-Provoking Conversation: What do you consider deep? This would be a little hard to verbalize and I don’t really feel like describing rn. I guess you can say this question in itself is deep, ha.
Tokyo: Where is a busy place you would like to go to? Aw man what an innocent question. I wish I could show this survey-maker what a trainwreck 2020 has been and how ‘busy places’ virtually don’t exist anymore, at least for now.
Unpretentious Gestures: If someone pays you a compliment, do you take it to heart, or do you pass it off as just flattery? I take it to heart, but I’m not always able to receive it well.
Video Games: Do you think they cause people to become violent? No. I spent my childhood going on killing rampages on GTA and I’m still unlikely to resort to violence.
Vocabulary: What was the last word you learned? The term ‘low latency.’
Warsaw: What is a funny fact about your heritage? Good question, but I can’t think of any at the moment. I don’t really think ‘funny’ when I look for facts to absorb but now I want to look this up haha.
Web Design: Have you or could you build your own site? My principal requirement for my Online Journalism class was to make my own website/blog, actually. But Covid blew up and we ended up having to cancel the entire semester altogether, so my classmates and I never got to pursue more of that class other than our first few meetings, which were used for lectures.
Winter: How long|cold are winters in your area? It does not even exist.
Words: How many pages of words do you think you type a day? Maybe like 5 or 6. It’s a WFH set-up, so I’m exclusively on the laptop typing away the entire week.
Writing: Do you try to avoid it, or do you embrace it? I embrace it as long as I don’t have to write fiction or prose. I like writing, but only through journals and surveys.
