My Hero Academia/Boku no Hero Academia is funny cause like,
the show makes a Big Deal about being a hero despite your weaknesses and shortcomings, perceived or otherwise, and rising above it all. It stars a character with no special abilities and very real feelings and views and ideas and the way they take that first step... is by getting a Special Ability. The Specialest Ability of All even. And it ends with this character losing said Ability while not being able to save their Foil, a victim of the world Just Like Them, and only becoming a hero again, not from their Own Hand but by someone else buying them a suit. Once again, only becoming a hero thanks to another's actions

Izuku stagnated as a character, reaching a point in his development and never growing beyond it. Throughout BNHA, he learned about how unfair and corrupt Hero Society was, even being a victim of it himself when he was quirkless.
Izuku would experience doubt and start to question the world he idolized for so long, only to return to worshiping and defending it. He kept speaking about “saving” Tomura but failed and acted as if he couldn’t because heroes can’t “save” everyone. In the end, Izuku and his classmates become cogs in Hero Society’s machine, and nothing changes. He repeatedly encountered proof of Hero Society’s failure, but in the end, none of this mattered to him.
Instead of becoming the catalyst of change and leading it with his classmates and the League of Villains, Izuku decided to accept Hero Society as is. He's so blinded by his adoration for heroes that he ignores the corruption and flaws of the society they uphold.
Horikoshi hit a wall with Izuku’s character, reducing him to a pro-Hero Society bootlicker instead of making him someone who is a hero of change and improvement.

"Save to win, win to save"
So you agree that the heroes lost? So you agree that since the heroes didn't save the villains in any way whatsoever, they in fact didn't win?

the fact that Midoriya Izuku is in no way upset about losing his quirk is insane. The quirk that changed the course of his life, lead to him making friends, and getting into his dream school. The quirk that made it so he was no longer quirkless, which he was bullied about for a decade. The quirk that ALL-MIGHT gave him. All the whole Bakugou Katsuki is crying. Bakugou Katsuki who bullied Izuku for being quirkless and thinks izuku's natural place is below him. The same Bakugou who mostly only ever expresses childish rage or cried over his own pride being damaged. It's all insane backwards characterization.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This doesn't make any sense. It's laughable and aggravating.
Midoriya Izuku is characterized as someone who struggles to see himself as having value outside of being a vessel for an Inhereted power and a vehicle to save other people from harm. Bakugou has been consistently characterized as someone fueled b rage pride and distain for who he sees as his lessers, Midoriya most of all.
This scene should have played out as bakugou alternating between celebrating that the world is as it should be, and animalistic rage that Midoriya lost all mights quirk. While Midoriya would be contemplating killing himself. This should be a tragedy where the main character has given up all their dreams and aspirations while the bully celebrates. All from a story about how Midoriya becomes the number one hero.
Seriously what reasons does he have to live. None of his friends stand up for him. His mom is an absent mother. He has as far as he knows a one sided crush that is never going to go anywhere because he is quirkless and useless. All his friends get to live out his dream. He sacrificed his quirk only to fail anyway. Even when he had the quirk it wasn't as advertised. He still never punched the weather, something that all might could do missing a stomach and lung, running on charitably a 60th of his strength, while already over exerted on top of all that.

The Bakugo/BakuDeku stans: "If you still hate Bakugo, Deku would be more than willing to hit you with his quirk!!!".
Me: "You people have no right to say that when you all are fine with hating on Almight, Inko, Ochaco, Iida and etc. what's the difference if people hate Bakugo as well?".

Is crazy to find out my old posts about how bad Endeavour redemption arc was handled after the manga finished.
In those posts I used to say "To achieve a well written redemption we had to see actual justice, not just his sons ignoring his texts. That not a punishment, that just a consequence." Thats was always my problem with this character, his punishment didnt fit his crime.
I haven't watched or read anything related to bnha in a long looong time. But now that it ended I was curious so i wanted to check out what happened with this storyline of Endeavor and Dabi… and boy it was bad. The episode where we find out how Toya became Dabi is bad. Plain an simple. Bad as hell.
In that situation Enji was the abuser, he had the fault. Yes, you can kinda say Rei could have done more and she did make mistakes….but the fact that we have an scene were everyone on the family, THE CHILDREN INCLUDED, said "it was our fault too, dad. Now lets fix your broken heart", IT'S DISGUSTING. THEY WERE LIKE 10 WHEN IT ALL WENT TO SHIT, HOW THE HELL WAS THAT THEIR FAULT-
god i hate it.
And then we have the ending, where basically we are forcing Dabi to having to deal with Enji for all the rest of his life.
Anyway, another anime where abusers are excused.

It’s really weird from a story telling perspective to have a side character (Bakugou) to be the one to defeat the guy who was supposed to be the main villain (All for One) instead of the main character (Midoriya) who’s entire quirk and training revolves around defeating him. Bakugou has no business with One for All and has shown to hold no respect or sympathy for the past users and yet he is the one to defeat him while Midoriya is off to the side fighting Shigaraki. It’s like Hori is trying to retcon and make Bakugou the main character

Touya's Reasons
Now, let's make this clear from the beginning. Endeavour was a bad father. His quirk marriage to father a child with a specific quirk in order to make them his successor is messed up. The way he handled Touya's was messed up. What he did to the rest of the family after Touya's supposed death was downright disgusting. But was his treatment of Touya really that bad that he would turn him into a murderer?
From what we see, Endeavour used to be very cheerful and nice during training with Touya. After Touya started getting burns he put an end to the training and he even did this peacefully. Some Dabi defenders point out that Endeavour pushed Touya to the side and that he should've started a different activity with Touya. I don't see it like that at all. We see Endeavour talk to Touya way more than he does to the rest of the kids before Shoto was born. It was only after Touya tried burning baby Shoto that Endeavour largely isolated Shoto from the rest of the siblings. Now, considering Endeavour wanted to train Shoto but not Touya, it is likely he would've spent more time with Shoto anyway, but Touya tried to kill or at least harm Shoto as a baby, way before the training started. The thing is, the Endeavour never trained Fuyumi nor Natsuo, who are younger than him. Enji never told Touya about his plans to get a successor, Touya found out by himself, but I don't know how. Since nobody told him about the plan and neither of his siblings got training at that point, what made him think his parents were trying to bring a child with a specific quirk into the world? Shoto was also just a baby. It is nomal for older siblings to feel jealousy, but Shoto was way too young to start the training and he was just a baby while Touya was around 10. He should've felt more sympathy for a defenseless baby. As for Endeavour starting a new activity with Touya, I agree that Touya needed that, but do you think Touya himself would've realized this? He was burning himself up to prove himself to his father, even though the latter told him multiple times to stop. Do you seriously think Touya would've been open for a new activity when he was so obsessed with becoming a hero? If your child is burning themselves, would starting a new activity really seem like it would help? Or at least it wouldn't be the first thing to pop into your mind. What Touya needed was first and foremost counseling and self control. I do not condone any of Endeavours actions, in fact they were very stupid, I just don't see how they would drive Touya to murder.
After Touya escapes the hospital he wants to return to his family only to see Endeavour being even more abusive than before with Rei and SHoto being his (biggest) victims and his family overall living on after his supposed death. This finally drives him to villainy. Except there have been 3 years since his family thought he died. They did not abandon him and they did not move on right away, Touya only didn't see them mourn because it has been 3 years since he disappeared and he knows this things. So he shouldn't have any reason to get revenge on them sans Endeavour and maybe Rei, since she was an accomplice in her husband's plan to get a successor and she didn't stand up for herself as much as she should.
I agree that his experience was hard. His father was very proud of him when they did gero training only for that to get stripped away from him once he got burns and his father not dealing with it in a professional way. However, he was getting burned. There is a difference between being stubborn and being desperate. I can still sympathize with his disappointment, but I can't sympathize with his obsession to the point of getting burned, even if the people in your life discourage you to and they still show you love and affection nor with his desire to murder, especially innocent people.

I'm BEGGING for Horikoshi to look up what a divorce is she doesn't need to be around him anymore she doesn't need to take care of him after what he has done to her
I wouldn't mind her forgiving him and visiting BUT FUCK I REALLY CAN'T TAKE IT

After learning how awful the ending of BNHA is, I’m glad I dropped the series years ago. Horikoshi points out the corruption and apathy of Hero Society, giving us insight into how cruel it was. We saw how people become villains to survive and seek revenge against the society that caused them to take this path.
Hero Society discarded those who failed to fit into its definition of “normal” and did not get the help they needed, as represented by the League of Villains. Throughout BNHA, the narrative keeps speaking about heroes needing to reach out to villains and help them. Instead of imprisoning or killing them, give them a chance to be redeemed.
It appears that Izuku, Uraraka, and Shouto will save Tomura, Toga, and Touya. As a result, Class 1-A and the reformed villains will rebuild Hero Society, leading the change and bridging the divide between heroes and villains. However, none of this happens.
Instead, Tomura and Toga die. Touya is trapped in a tank and is forced to stay alive against his will. Hero Society imprisons both Mr. Compress and Spinner. Class 1-A accepts that they couldn’t “save” the League of Villains because heroes are unable to save everyone and become heroes who uphold the corrupt status quo. Everything leading up to a massive change in Hero Society is rendered meaningless because, in the end, everything returns to how it was before.
Horikoshi wastes the reader’s time by establishing a message that his story fails to follow through on. Why speak about the problems of Hero Society and the harm it perpetuates when nothing changes? Why have multiple characters suffer and make it seem like they’re going to be saved, only to either die or end up imprisoned?
BNHA genuinely had the potential to be an interesting story, but it was squandered into a meaningless mess by an awful writer who wasted numerous people’s time.

I think horikoshi has absolutely zero knowledge about how abuse works. or frankly human psychology in general. maybe don’t use child abuse as your flimsy plot device for drama if you literally don’t understand it bro

Can't wait for My Hero Academia to end so I can make the five hour video essay called 'So BNHA Was Actually Garbage' where I dedicate an entire hour of it to the waste of ink that is Bakugou Katsuki.
