Damianya Week Day 3: rival kingdoms AU (and monsters AU)

okay...it may be a little different than you'd expect but in my head rival kingdoms AU look like this Anya is a Chimera and Damian is a Gryphon. As much as they look like each other their families are feuding, but they fall in love and refuse to have a war between the kingdoms I really enjoy drawing monster AU, and I'd like to do it more often in the future, but it will all depend on your reaction of course :,D

Some Theories about Anya's Name

Who would have thought a short chapter would bring so much information and discussion? But then again, we're talking about Anya, agent of chaos (according to her papa).

After that chapter, there's plenty of theories flying around, so I decided to make this post to compile, explain and expand these theories 😉

Ready?

Anya is an acronym: This one is pretty clear has been a popular general theory. It means that the letters of her name stand for something else. What exactly? We don't know yet, but it probably has to do with Project Apple and the infamous lab Anya was created.

Anya...Ania...OstANIA: If you live near small children, you probably know that when they are learning how to talk, they do it by picking up words adults say and many times they say those words wrong. While discussing with some friends, I imagined those scientists constantly saying the word Ostania in front of that little girl. Maybe baby Anya thought that was her name because she heard the word OstANIA all the time, but she couldn't say it right.

Anya, the foreign princess: This one is very simple. It means that her name was spelled differently in her country of origin. This theory is vague, but I do believe a third country could be involved in all this mess. Also, it would make sense for Anya to be hiding in Ostania, if she was born and kept captive in a different country.

Anya...A N/A: This one is one of the most interesting theories! A N/A would mean something like "Non-applicable". You probably think this doesn't say much, but it really does. In the first few chapters of the story we learned that Anya was adopted and returned 4 times. Instead of a child, she was returned as if she was a piece of clothing. Even though it's been barely mentioned, we've also learned that people that participated in Project Apple didn't treat the subjects nicely (see how they treated Bond). Those people called Anya "subject 007". They didn't even give her a name. If we think about it, Anya is very "non-applicable". She was created in a lab, she has a strange power, so she's not like the other kids, she's been adopted and returned 4 times...

The A N/A and Anya being treated like an object instead of a human being fits the Spy x Family premise of the story, which is: Humans like Twilight, Yor, and Anya are used as weapons instead of being treated like humans. The story is about them regaining their humanity through love and family.

So even if A N/A says nothing about Anya, it says a lot about the story.

Look at this little girl. This illustration was heartbreaking. Do you know when it takes place? It's right before he meets Twilight. We see that it's the same filthy orphanage Twilight visited on chapter 1 and this is not Anya's first orphanage, so that means this illustration happened after she was returned again. The way she's facing the door, her body language, the way she holds Mr. Chimera by the hand is so sad. Here she is, once again, in a place she doesn't want to be, where nobody will take care of her...alone 😭

Enough of that or we'll end up crying...🤧

Some other things to take into consideration about her name:

Mr. Chimera: Since this is a visual story, that panel of Mr. Chimera tells us that this plushie is involved in Anya's name. If you've read certain fic, you know where I stand on that. In this case, I think that yes, the person who helped Anya escape gave Mr. Chimera to her. However, I don't think it was exactly that character (you know who). It probably was someone else, maybe even a new character we don't know yet. It could also be a scientist who took pity on Anya or disagreed with the use of children as lab rats, and helped her escape. We don't know yet.

Twilight: One of the most beautiful panels on that short chapter was seeing Anya's eyes lit up when her papa told her the correct spelling of her name. Did you see it? Those were the eyes of someone who had just learned something new about herself and by doing this, Twilight made her even more human.

One more thing...I've seen speculations about the next arc of the manga being about Anya's past because of this short mission. In my opinion...I don't think it'll happen yet. Why? If it was the case, this would have been a longer chapter and the actual beginning of the arc.

I believe Anya's past will be one of the last things we learn, because there's plenty of things to resolve and a lot of information we don't have. Stories are like puzzles; this chapter was an important piece, but we're not working on that part yet.

I love how even silly short missions manage to have their share of wholesomeness and family connection. It's like family is important in a series called Spy x Family or something.

Anyway, Anya is a kid that gets very attached to certain things - and despite being bold enough to use the knowledge she has due to her telepathy in order to make Loid do what she wants, she's not exactly a spoiled kid. She still sticks to Mr. Chimera, the only toy she had while she was in the orphanage. She doesn't ask for new clothes, or toys, or gadgets, what she asks for is experiences (the castle rescue, adopting Bond in specific after she was emotionally invested in him)... and peanuts, too.

So to her, the penguin plush is not just one toy from her plethora of toys that got ruined. It's a toy that her dad got for her. It's a souvenir of their aquarium adventure, where she helped him locate the penguin he needed to find and even arrest the criminal who wanted to get the secret information about the weapon. It's a reminder of how she took part and helped him in his mission. Just a replacement stuffed penguin won't do. It's not the toy itself, it's the memories connected to it. I mean, of course she's sad a toy of her got destroyed - by the dog she asked to have, no less - but it hurts even more knowing what this toy means to her.

And the show takes Anya's feelings seriously with that. The soft "Little by Little" score plays while Loid fixes the penguin, with Yor looking with anticipation. Bond feels sad and regretful, understanding the consequences of his actions and wanting to make it up to Anya. They're all invested in things getting better.

And once the penguin is ready, though with visible "scars" now, Loid reassures Anya that his new appearance is nothing to be ashamed of.

And the interesting thing? Twilight, Best Spy of Westalis, Master of DisguiseTM... stutters. He does so in Japanese both in the manga and the anime.

Which makes me wonder, considering his background and profession, how big his experience with scars is (and if we're gonna learn more about that, come on give the whump fan some scraps here 👀👀) (pls don't spoil me about the manga if we do, I want the whump but on its own time!) and if reaching into his own personal feelings about scars in order to resonate with Anya hit him just a little more than he expected. Or if he was so serious about it that he didn't know whether he should tell her something so grim. He's here dedicating himself into a deadly dangerous job so that kids like Anya won't have to suffer like he did as a kid, and yet he has to pass on to her something he learned the hard way.

Yeah yeah I'm here putting too much thought and grimness into what was supposed to be a wholesome moment. Hi I'm Nette and you'll be getting a lot of those in the future :)

Sooo...

Last Saturday I rewatched "Fantasia 2000", and during one scene of Rhapsody in Blue, when Rachel, the little girl, tried to catch her ball and she went into the traffic, she was saved just in time by her parents.

Now, I immediately thought of Anya with Mr. Chimera with Yor and Loid, arriving in the right place, at the right time for her.

With the cute family reunion at the end.

I'm posting my thoughts here and if by chance there's some artist who wants to draw it, I'd be really flattered.

“Papa! Papa!!”  

Nikolai turned his head as he heard his little precious princess running up towards him with a little paper plane in her hand. ”Look what дядя Krueger made for me!!” she jumped up and down excitedly.

“Krueger.” Nikolai raised his eyebrow,amused at the news of his daughter's unlikely playmate. 

“дядя Krueger, he’s really good!! He said he’s going to fold more for me!” 

“Is he now?” Nikolai jumped down from the top of the helicopter, wiping his hand with a rag before sitting down and waving his daughter over, taking a break from fixing his trusty flying machine.

Anya happily blabbering about what other activities her Tetya and Dyadya had been doing with her. Zhar always lets her sit beside her in the office and draws on scrap pieces of paper, Yuri always follows Anya as she goes around the base,keeping an eye on her in case she runs into trouble. Now Krueger seems to take a liking to the little girl. 

His little Princess really has the Chimera wrapped around her little fingers. 

Just like how her Ma had him. 

His two beloved birds. 

The two treasures nearly got stolen from him. 

Devastating mistakes he vow not to ever happen again. 

Nikolai still has nightmares of the day he found the house full of dead bodies and trails of blood. 

Anya’s trembling and traumatised face. 

His Lastochka’s tortured body.

The day he felt everything was taken away from him. 

For the sins he had committed. 

“...And тётя Olga was yelling at дядя Krueger for being a bampot!!” Anya giggled. 

“mmm, did she now?” Nikolai replied absentmindedly, patting his daughter’s head. 

“… Papa, you are not listening!” Anya pouted as she poked Nikolai, annoyed at her Papa. She adjusted herself to finding a more comfortable position before continuing her report on what she had been up to.

“Oh Papa! can you please take me for a ride in your new plane next time?” Anya begged. “дядя Krueger said you are getting new gears for the team! I want to go for a ride too!” 

Nikolai looked down at her daughter. This girl has a strange fixation on flying machines from the time she was born, and it doesn’t help that her uncle and aunties have been giving her toys that are related to helicopters and aeroplanes and everything military like. 

Without doubt Anya IS his daughter. 

“Now Anya, just remember, don’t throw your Uncle Gaz out of the helicopter like your Papa did –” Gaz warned the little three month old baby as he put more of his newly crocheted dolls and planes into her cot. 

“Gaz,I seriously don’t think you need to worry about that…” 

“Just yet. Who knows. Not saying this cute little bub will do it but.. If he is indeed her father’s daughter….”

“Gaz…”

“But…”

“Please Papa….” Anya battered her round puppy like eyes, tears gathering. He sighed. He just couldn’t say no to her. “Alright. Remember you have to…”

“Listen to everything Papa tells me to do. I know.” Anya jumped up and gave her father a big hug and a kiss. “Thank you papa. Oh There’s Ma!” Anya turned her head and ran across the room as she spotted you slowly waddling into the hanger.  

“Ma! Papa said he will take me for a ride next time in the new plane!!” Anya announced the news excitedly to you as she took your hand and carefully led you to sit down beside Nikolai.

You look at your husband, silently asking the question. He just laughed and shook his head. 

“You really can’t say no to her, can you?” You chuckled as you lean against your husband, swatting his creeping hand away from your ass. “You dote on her too much.”

“How can you say no to that sweet little face?” Nikolai replied innocently, settling his hand around your waist instead, and gently running his hand on your raised bump. “I would give everything to keep that sweet smile on her face.” and to keep the happiness on YOUR face.

“Everything?” 

“Everything.” Except for letting her take over Chimera. She deserves a world without violence from what she has seen from a young age.

Nikolai watches as Anya spotted another Chimera soldier walking into the hangar and ran towards them to show off her paper planes.

“Well, even if Vitaly says he wants to marry Anya?” you joked. 

Nikolai’s face dropped as soon as he heard the name. “Well DID HE NOW.” he growled. 

“Nik. he’s only four years old. I don’t think you need to worry about your daughter being taken away by the boy so soon.” you try to sooth your husband’s sour mood. “Besides, are you sure you want to take a toddler’s word so seriously?” 

“I don’t like the boy.”

“Just because who his father is?” you frowned. “Nik. We’ve been over this. He is in good hands now. He isn’t going to cause any more harm to anyone else. You know Mylène will make sure of it.”

Nikolai stayed silent.

“Besides, You know Chris will be the first one to go after him and the boy if anything happens.” you spoke up again as you patted your husband’s chest. 

“Maybe I should train my son to ward off anyone who comes near his sister..”

“Nik. I haven’t even given birth yet.” You deadpanned. 

“Forward planning.”

“Can you please not.” you sighed. “Maybe you should use your time to plan for more useful things…” 

“It is useful. Planning for the well-being of my daughter’s future.” Nikolai snorted. 

“Or spend a bit more time thinking about your wife’s happiness too.” you cock an eyebrow, toying with his gold chain.

Nikolai immediately took the hint.

“Anya!” He yelled across the room. Anya turned around, halting her conversation with the soldier. “Go to your тётя Olga’s office, Papa and Ma will be a bit busy until dinner time…”

Zhar ended up babysitting Anya until the next morning.

SxF Theory based on ch. 93!!

This is purely based off the small interactions we have with this little old man right here and the relation he may or may not have with anya's past

i think that not only was he a part of the project that Anya was a part of, i think he CREATED the foundation of the technology used to create the chimera experiments with Bond and with Anya's ability to read minds.

It would make a lot of sense as he states that one of the subjects he specializes in is Neurology, the study of the brain.

Also, his character design is very obviously supposed to look like Albert Einstein. Which is super important because Einstein developed the atomic theory that led to the development of the nuclear bomb. Ltrly the most devastating technology created in mankind. And Einstein was recorded to say that he deeply regretted even developing that theory.

So what does that have to do with this guy?

I think that Sigmund Authen theorized and developed the concept of a way to gain a higher neurological prowess. He said that he "dabbled in cultural anthropology," and a specialty in neurology, he was probably touring the world to understand the concept of the brain in different environments and the developmental aspects.

It's shown in a lot of sci-fi media about "unlocking 100% of the brain" and I think Sigmund found a way to do that. He probably showed this research to higher ups with good intentions to develop the human body but of course, the people in power wanted to use this for damaging purposes. And the fact he was pretty much MIA during the war that his wife didnt even know wtf he was doing just supports the timeline. Also, him being at the *start* of the project would make it plausible on why Sigmund and Anya wouldnt recognize each other.

I think Sigmund saw or found out about the inhumane experiments done in order to fulfill his theory and wanted to put a stop to it.

BUT

the head of the project (or whatever) stopped him and used his own research against him by wiping his memory of the events. Im guessing a very sketchy lobotomy that left him in the state he is in now where he forgets a LOT of what is happening most of the time. Which kinda shows how Anya can only get fragmented thoughts and very old memories when she reads his mind.

I had this in the back burner but this ^^^ panel from the latest chapter pretty much solidified it for me. Especially with the parallels of regret with Einstein's atomic theory. Also him saying that makes me think he prbly remembers fragments of the project or the feeling of regret was too strong for him to regret from that moment.

Either way, I cant wait to see more chapters! It definitely looks like we're continuing this Anya-centered arc with the way things are developing!

Okay, okay, hear me out:

Spy x Family AU, except Marinette is Loid & Adrien is Yor.

Marinette & Loid both have this alternate self that is very calculative & has the urge to plan out every possible outcome of a situation so they're not caught off guard. Not to mention that both of them have this very strong sense of justice and, each in their own way, are trying to make the world around them a better & safer place. However, both of them also have this other side that is gentle and kind and, essentially, a softy (though this shows more in Marinette bc, well, she hasn't been through the things Loid has been).

Then we have Adrien, who, like Yor, is outwardly sweet & cheerful and doesn't have a clue what to do with Life (TM). But he also has a dark & deadly side, which makes him absolutely consider dirtying his hands if he thought he was protecting the ppl he loves (*cough* derrision *cough*). I can totally see him become an assassin if it was the only thing he could do to protect his loved ones & bring food to the table, esp if he was taught to do that from a young age.

Also, some of my other headcanons for this AU (and pls beware of possible spoilers for sxf if u aren't caught up or want to watch):

- Emma would be Anya, obv, and like Anya, she has telepathic powers and can read her parents' minds. (Side note: I was considering making Emma a creation of the peacock miraculous & for that to be the reason she has her telepathy powers, but then I realized the miraculous existing in this AU might not make much sense, so I'm putting it on the backburner. If anybody wants to explore that, though, be my guest!)

- The plushy u see in Emma's hands in my drawing is Tikki, which is the equivalent of Mr. Chimera in the anime (however, alternatively, The Handler could be Tikki & in turn, The Shopkeeper could be Plagg. But going with my initial idea...)

- The cat in the picture, then, would be Plagg, who is the equivalent of Bond. However, unlike Bond, Plagg is a little shit & he knows it & therefore gives Marinette a lot of grief. But he's very cute when he wants to be, and Emma is very set on keeping him, so Marinette resorts to silent psychological warfare with him. Surprisingly, Plagg is pretty chill when it comes to Adrien to everyone's surprise.

- Just like Bond, Plagg also has psychic powers. However, I can just see him hissing in annoyance everytime a vision pops up. :D

- Adrien is secretly an assassin who exterminates traitors with his special dagger(s) that he calls 'Cataclysm'.

- Marinette is a spy who is tasked with getting close to her target, Chloe Bourgeois. She has a customized gun that she prefers to use that she calls her 'lucky charm'.

- Also, the same as the anime, Marinette's agent name is 'Ladybug' & Adrien's is 'Chat Noir'.

- Chloe is Marinette's target (I know Desmond & Gabriel are crazy similar, but I think it'd be pretty weird to have Gabe & Adrien in the same universe & for them to not be related).

- Chloe has 2 children: a twin son & daughter who r attending the same prestigious school. The daughter (which I haven't chosen a name for) is the equivalent of Becky & the son (which I also don't know the name of) is the equivalent of Damian.

- Chloe's daughter lives with her father (who I imagine is Luka bc it's a guilty ship of mine, but eh), but she also pays for her child support and education, so her daughter was raised like a princess and therefore has the same princess tendencies as Becky.

- Chloe's son is still pretty much the same as Damian, so not much to add there. (Yes, exactly like Damian. If you know, you know :) )

- Lastly, I will leave you with this out of pocket notion: Felix as Yuri and Kagami as Fiona (and yes, I very much ship them, even in this AU :) )

Random theorys/headcanons SpyxFamily

Two options:

-Loid is considering how to keep his wife and daughter now that he is close to finishing his mission, but his enemies discover his family and hurt them so that Twilight appears, making Loid make the decision to go as far away from them as possible to ensure that they are alive.

EITHER

-Loid is looking for a way to abandon Anya and Yor in the least painful way possible now that he has to leave. But there is something that makes Loid reconsider his decision to keep them.

-Anya loses Chimera because of some mistake in the laundry room in her building, Loid tries to cheer her up by all means but no matter how many walks, gifts and cakes he gives her, the girl remains depressed, once he finds out that it was a gift from her dead mother searches every garbage dump in the country for the sake of the mission.

-Loid realizes that he read thousands of books on parenting but none that talked about adopted children, so he has to look for new books and research to understand Anya's needs.

-Anya laughing out of nowhere because she heard something supremely funny from someone's head but that someone only thinks she's crazy.

- Loid already knows that Anya is a telepath, on the contrary he thinks that she is important, useful and collaborative. So they go to the Desmonds' house to talk to Donovan, Twilight has her second meeting and chats with him hoping that later Anya, who is talking about studies with Damian, tries to hear a little of what she is thinking. She tries but, she doesn't hear anything.

-Denovan has a plate of some extraterrestrial metal in his skull because he knows about the Apple project.

-The wedding ring asking, do you want to be my real wife?

-The adoption anniversary cake asking do you want to be my real daughter?

-I seriously want to see how Loid turns on a radio to listen to the news and a song starts playing and they end up dancing like they do in the ending

-An old gossip telling the Forgers that they are pampering that girl too much. But they already know that this girl was probably electrocuted until she passed out on her 3rd birthday for the sake of "world peace" they send that old woman to hell so she doesn't bother.

-Anya having to live temporarily with WISE without being able to have contact with Loid because they fear that she will find out more things that she should not know, trying to do ethical studies and investigating her legal situation since when she was born in a laboratory. Anya doesn't understand anything and just wants to go home.

-Loid realizing that she dated over 30 women pretending to love them just to get information but for the first time she wonders, is this what love feels like?

-I need to see in the manga Anya's past adoptions and if she became attached to those families.

-Franlky yelling at Twilight to stop her from staying with her family "What? And what do you think you're going to do when the girl grows up and needs $150 mascara? Or when you have to kiss another woman to complete your missions? I told you not to get attached to them! "

And Loid type: help me keep them and I'll help you get a girlfriend.

-Yor happy reflecting that she likes being a mother.

-Damian getting a tonitrus (in general it would be interesting) but imagine if it is because he unconsciously saving Anya from having another one.

-Anya feeling uncomfortable because now her parents think differently now that they know she can read minds. Probably repeating "don't think about anything" thousands of times or imagining a white wall in front of her. Yor would even imagine the murders of her with censorship and avoid her the firts hours.

-Yor is finally sent to kill Twilight, she runs away from her family to find him, and when she arrives at the battlefield she sees him and says: "Loid! What are you doing here? Go hide or Twilight might kill you! But I'll kill him first!" "I'll explain everything to you later!"

-Imagine Loid reading the files of the 007 experiment together with Anya, always leaning his shoulder on her so that she does not focus on the trauma, but rather they take the opportunity to learn important details about Ania's origins that she did not know or not remember, her date actual birthday, her mother's name, the country where she came from, photos or videos of her when she was a baby, everything so that the girl feels happy to know a little about herself to better forge your identity.

-The day Anya calls Loid dad, he will be thoughtful and recognize that He is her dad!

-Anya dealing with a bully but she doesn't dare to defend herself because she already has 7 tonitrus, but her father is there undercover as a teacher and he makes sure that those bullies are expelled by giving them 3 tonitrus, although he would hit them himself if he could.

-Loid thinks because this mission is about to end and it is being so difficult that he goes out to spend some time with Frankly, he gets carried away by his feelings, he gets drunk and without anyone questioning him he tells him crying that he loves Anya and Yor.

-Anya could gets a tonitrus for rescuing rats from a high school classroom because they were going to be cut open for vivisection, flashbacks to the lab.

-When Anya begins to say dad to Loid, he realizes that he cannot say no to that creature and wonders when that stage will end. "Dad buy me more peanuts" you got it "dad will you take me to disneyworld?" Granted "Will you buy me a pony.... dad?" Loid is desperate because he can't say no.

-One of Anya's foster families took her to a soccer stadium But she ran away immediately because damn it was the loudest place she had ever been and she would spend the entire game going in and out of unconsciousness.

-I really want to see Anya saying sad things without knowing it because she hasn't lived a normal childhood. Why do people celebrate her birthday? Have you never been electrocuted?

-Remember the episode where Loid and Yor are drinking and the bartender is listening as Yor suspects Loid's infidelity? Well, imagine him listening to the sequel, hearing a drunk Loid cry for her family because he has to leave them because her wife won't love him for cheating on her, and Frankly yelling at him that they will get a lawyer to keep the child.

Ok, I made a thing.

This is Zhar, the baby is Anya. Anya is the daughter of Nikolai and Freya 'Mini' Mactavish. Mini belongs to @sofasoap

This is not some kind of creepy 'twilight' thing, I swear. This is my girl finding her big platonic love in an AU where she doesn't end up with Nikolai.

And a little story to this picture.

“That flight attendant checked you out. Once again!” Freyas brain begged her to shut up. However, MacTavishes blood kept boiling, encouraging her to go on and try to distract the notorious Chimeras Lieutenant.

In fact Mini was scared. She was afraid of Olga back in the days of her service with Price and that fear only grew when Olga left 141 and Lt Zhar was born. Poorly hiding his pride, Nikolai told her, how that woman didn’t shed a single tear the morning, she woke up with a half-burnt body. Hiring her was obviously the move that boosted his already huge ego. But Mini didn’t trust people, who seemed to have no soft corners.

And Zhar was all teeth and claws.

Mini didn’t like her husband’s initial idea to send Olga bodyguarding her. It felt easier for her to walk down the street alongside Krueger – he at least would express any emotion besides cold concentration. But Mini couldn’t argue, when Nik pointed out, that Olga draws not that much attention than a huge loud guy, threatening everyone around just with his posture. Besides, Zhar had this natural feeling of a crowd: she read surrounding movements and moods as if she read other peoples minds. And this was critical for where Mini went.

The good news were, that everything went so smoothly – Freya could as well spend all this time alone. No threats, no nothing. The bad news was the MacTavish blood, that begged Mini to stir her bodyguard up. She craved a human interaction that went at least a bit beyond “wait here”, “please let me do the talking”, “if you need me – I am right behind your door”. She wanted bubbly flustered girly gossips for god’s sake!

Sadly, she had to deal with Olga, who refused to play any social games.

“Hes no threat, Mini, don’t worry.”

Zhars fingers froze for a moment hovering over her laptop keyboard. Freya smiled in anticipation, but her bodyguard just nodded to herself and went back to typing, as if she just needed a minute to find the most suitable wording for her email.

“Oh, c’mon, really? You wont even glance at him?”

“Blonde hair, blue eyes, persistent misuse of a cheap cologne, ‘Oliver’ badge and a widest smile on this plane.” Olga finally looked away from her screen. “Mini, love, if you are trying to test me – yes, I do memorize people surrounding you.”

“No-o-o-o.” Mini almost mewled. “This wasn’t any test, I just wanted to gossip, or to have a little laugh, or just to chat. You know, like the real people usually do?”

Zhar sighed and closed her laptop.

“Ok, show me her.”

“Again? Olya, we watched Anyas photos just before the flight. You don’t have to pretend to be interested in my daughter this hard. We can talk about any other thing!” Mini had to dig her fingers into her own forearm to force herself to continue speaking without blushing from fear and embarrassment.

Zhar insisted on watching Anyas photos yet again. As Freya was showing her the same pictures, they looked at just an hour ago, she noticed how her bodyguards face softened.

“You should think about having a baby too. It's fun, you know-“ Minis mind wasn’t following her own tongue fast enough. By the time, she cut herself out – it was too late.

“You’re MacTavish, and MacTavish knows no fear,” rang her mother’s voice in her head as she slowly turned to face Olga.

Mini tried to joke herself out of this uncomfortable situation, tell something about ‘obviously meeting the right man or woman, going on a pair of dates, and getting to the baby question only after that, but Zhar ended her suffering.

“Mini, there won’t be anyone for me.”

“Wha-?”

“There is nobody for me.” Olga repeated. “I break several laws all around the world on a daily basis, I have not been with anyone from the start of my service in the TF, my back looks like a well-done steak, my head costs a shit ton of money on an underworld market. At this point, there is nobody out there.”

“That’s…” Mini didn`t want to point the obvious out, so she bit her tongue and didn’t say ‘sad’.

“That is a choice. And I’m ok with that. I let go of all that stuff, you know?” Zhar smiled awkwardly. “Will they, won’t they… and then they finally are. And they tell each other ‘you are the love of my life, you’re the most important person on earth, your happiness is from now on my only mission, your smile is my reason to go on’. And the church bells ring and someone’s auntie is crying ugly on the last row… I just let it all go. And my life didn’t become miserable. If anything – it became easier to breathe.”

Freya suddenly felt guilty. She knew, that by the time their plane will touch the ground – Nik would already be in the airport. Waiting for the love of his life. And Zhar would report to him, salute to Mini. Then she will turn away and go to a big cold Chimeras base. For some reason Mini couldn’t picture Olga coming to her home. As much as she respected Zhars decision to fence herself off any close relationship – Freya felt bad for not being able to truly share the family love with her.

“Hey, can I have your phone for a minute? Always wanted to try this airdrop* feature, do you mind?” Mini lied – she used this feature a hundred times already. She just wanted to give Olga at least something. So, she sent her a photo of Anya in her bunny onesie. And the one with Anya on Nikolais helicopter seat. And the one with Anya trying a peach for the fist time. It wasn’t much, but these were the photos, Zhar kept asking to show her again and again.

After that flight they parted for quite a long time. Olga had a ton of work, and Mini had a work, a little angel, a husband, trying to spoil that little angel rotten, and a brother, risking his dumb ass constantly.

Every time Freya visited the Chimera base – she knocked on Olga’s door in the hope of an answer. And after a few months it finally happened.

“Come in. Unless it’s Krueger. Fuck off Krueger!” Zhar sounded as if she was in a good mood, although Mini still had to urgently cover little Anyas ears.

Freyas stepped in Zhars office and greeted her.

“Yeah, hi, love. Grab a seat, I need to finish this letter and then I`m all your-“ Olga fell silent, when she saw the baby in Minis arms.

“Ehm, hi… We thought, it would be nice to visit our favorite Chimera Lieutenant.�� Freya stepped in the dimly lit office. Anya was staring around with a wide-open mouth.

Zhar didn’t move, she seemed to didn’t even breathe. She looked at Anya with wide eyes full of uncertainty or confusion.

“So, this is where your auntie Olya works.” Freya started telling her daughter, pointing on Olgas desk. “Auntie Olya is very busy, she helps daddy with so many things, so we will just look and be very quiet, like little mice, ok?”

“Can I-“ Zhar started talking, but Nikolais voice from the hall cut her out.

“Lastochka?* Can I have you for a minute?”

Mini was ready to turn to exit when Olga snapped out “Can I please hold her?”. She sounded unfamiliar, her voice was low, tearful, as if Zhar was fighting a lump coming up her throat.

“Of course! Anya loves new faces, here…” Freya handed the baby to Olga and turned around to follow Nikolais voice.

“Don’t worry, I will pick her up in a few min-“

“You are the love of my life…” Mini stopped in her tracks as these words reached her ears. Zhars voice was full of tears. Freya looked back in shock and saw Zhar, the notorious Chimeras Lieutenant with shiny wet cheeks.

She held Anya as if she was made of a glass and as if she was her only hope at the same time. The next words she spoke, were quiet, almost inaudible. But Mini already knew these words.

“You’re the most important person on earth, your happiness is from now on my only mission, your smile is my reason to go on.”

since there are a lot of people creating theories about Anya's name,her backstory and discussing about chapter 90.1,I wanted to share my own opinion｡⁠◕⁠‿⁠◕⁠｡

tbh,I was surprised that Ania's name had all this time a meaning and it wasn't just a mix of Misha and Ashe from Endo's previous works kinda expected it though,I'm not sure why Endo was hiding it all the time,maybe because it was supposed to be a surprise..

I honestly think that Ania is a Russian name took from Anna,is she a reference of princess Anastasia?my own question leaded me to an imagination of her backstory,hehe(⁠^⁠^⁠);

Ania was the princess of a royal family,they all were under serveillance,all the members conversations were encrypted in classic language so that the content couldn't be understood it wasn't the native language of the country by the way

Desmond was the one behind everything happening to the country and the royal family,he nuked/destroyed the country it's kind of confirmed that he's doing suspicious activities,right?,all the family were killed but Anya wasn't,instead those monsters kidnapped her and she became their new test subject for the Ostanian project apple subject 007

everyone in the lab treated her as a tool and forced her to study..

There was a scientist,he was cruel like all of them and for some sort of reason,he changed later on and became a kind person,he was the one who helped Anya escaping the lab,she will surely start a new happy life with a new family,well,after a short period,the little girl was adopted and returned to the orphanage 4 times,till one day a spy codenamed Twilight waku waku came searching for a 6 years old child,ends up adopting her to become a part of a fake family,the forgers for the sake of operation strix (⁠ ⁠ꈍ⁠ᴗ⁠ꈍ⁠)

there is also a high possibility that there is a reason behind Anya's freedom...probably nobody helped her escape the cursed lab,the scientists just started a new experiment is her freedom itself, this experiment is designed to train her to become a skilled telepath naturally, so that they can kidnap their tool whenever they are ready to start the war

Melinda knows about her past herself, that's why she wants Anya and Damian to become closer because of some other hidden reasons idk myself..

and before I forget,here's some canon proofs supporting the princess theory;

Ania loves castles,she talked about servants in the first chapter,we even had a whole episode about her as a princess and her her papa saving her,most of the anime episode was an original though was it for a foreshadowing purpose from Endo himself?!

there's also several mentions about royality in the manga,for example in chapter 42,etc,etc..the lastest and the most important mention was in chapter 88,Melinda choosing specifically the royal top elite cakes as a gift for Anya wich Damian told her to buy,he didn't said for who exactly

"they were cakes said to originally have been created by king Willy II,as a conciliatory gift for the queen of an enemy country"!!! this line alone raised a lot of suspicion inside me...so I had to do some search(⁠.⁠ ⁠❛⁠ ⁠ᴗ⁠ ⁠❛⁠.⁠)I found out later on that King Willy and the queen from the enemy country are actually a reference of king Frederick the great and Empress Elizaveta!! probably I'm gonna make a thread talking about them

In addition to my proofs,we also had Anya comparing the Griffin wich is the symbol of the Desmonds and Chimera the possible symbol of her royal family and her dear friend who knows everything about her

I'mma include the Authens since they are 100% getting involved in this arc and were introduced just before the chapter we got a new hints about Ania's past and the confirmation of her backstory arc

First of all,Sigmund Authen might be a reference of Sigmund Freud the founder of Psychoanalysis,is related to minds?!!mind reading powers in sxf universe??!?the theory of super powers and all this stuff might be proposed by him since he was a professor teaching in the berlint university is owned by the Desmond family,you can notice the letter "D" in the logo

he is likely to be from Anya's same country,he's talking in Classical language most of the time,both Yor and Anya didn't understand most of what he said either Anya because the majority of what he was saying is complicated,unhearable and she didn't care

*Spy X Family Theory/Speculation about Anya's Unique and Adorable Hair Accessories*

Waki waku theory incoming, so let's dig in! I have always wondered about Anya's unique yet adorable horn like hair accessories before... Like WHAT IF? Those very hair accessories were given to her by someone? Someone close to her back at the lab? We saw in her flashbacks in both anime/manga that she didn't wear those back at the lab and it is a low possibility that it was given to her by the scientists to 'hide' her telepathy secret because THEY DIDN'T ALLOW HER TO GO IN THE OUTSIDE WORLD IN THE FIRST PLACE IMO AS SEEN SO FAR SO WHY WOULD 'THEY' GIVE HER THOSE?? And she was little so she couldn't buy those herself since she has little knowledge and given she was buying a poster with just a coin in episode 1(again, they didn't let her out either). And we know she escaped the facility later on but did she escape a well maintained and guarded facility full of scientists that had eyes on her by herself? Just like that? What if it was her og 'parents' that helped her escape as their last goodbye? Or someone else who was close enough to help her escape? And then gave her those accessories telling her to ALWAYS keep them on NO MATTER WHAT (note that she's never taken them off ever since she left the lab, as of now) and keep her secret from the world bidding goodbyes. There are lots of possibilities since her past right now is completely shrouded in mystery and she doesn't react to anything in her daily life showing any sign of trauma or flashbacks except from ones seen in episode 1, I can be wrong nevertheless. And if that same person was who gave her 'Chimera' too? I don't suppose she'd love to keep close smth she had from back then if it brought unpleasant memories, pain or those scientists deeds... Unless? She has good memories and those are a symbol of love/care of someone, maybe her og parents?! Or what if her accessories and chimera are given to her by 'someone else' and not her parents? Cuz her og parents are dead? I fear this sm tbh. Cuz if her og parents still exist then the existence of the forger family becoming a real and mutual 'family' at the end would be difficult so they're gone from this world, I assume. Hence, anya's reaction when she cried saying 'mama' during the admissions interview episode. Either she was so close to her og 'mama' that she had memories she clung to and when that got brought up, couldn't help but cry OR she cried because she's NEVER actually experienced having her mother/doesn't remember even a bit resulting in her crying thinking she didn't have one 'mama'? Either way it's really painful to bear for a little one like her, heck even I still am super close to my mom!😭

To be honest, while I was trawling for information, I realized that not even that many Chinese sites talk about the pearls. Such might be the nature of folklore—everyone gives their own interpretations, which are then spread orally. Tough to find "academic sources." And of course, wonky citations with broken links and poor reference points are always a hindrance.

"神龙戏珠" (The Divine Dragon Playing with Its Pearl) is a motif that has a few variations. It could be a single dragon (单龙戏珠), two dragons (二龙戏珠), three dragons (三龙戏珠), and even multiple dragons chasing one single pearl (多龙戏珠) [1].

#1: The Pearl... Really Is a Pearl!

Pearls are formed by living shell mollusks—which are members of the "aquatic tribes" [2]. They are hard to come by, lustrous, pretty as fuck, and very beloved in Chinese culture.

Chinese dragons, unlike the Western ones, are associated with water, right? That's because Long is "the king of the ocean" and it "rules over all aquatic tribes" [2]. If your dime-a-dozen clam could produce something as precious as a pearl, why can't the King itself produce the most beautiful and precious pearl that triumphs them all, huh?

This appears to be the genesis of the concept of the "Pearl." But naturally, as time goes on, more and more meanings are embedded in it!

#2: The Pearl as an Egg

Long is a chimera of sorts. It's an amalgamation of, inter alia, a fish, a crocodile, a snake, a boar, a horse, an ox, a lizard, and a deer [1] [2]. Fishes and the reptilian reps in this group lay eggs. The crocodile's egg is even kinda big—way larger than a pearl.

Do you see? The egg is seen as a pearl and vice versa [1] [2]. Eggs are the source of life for crocodiles and snakes, and therefore, egg-pearl represents life in dragon arts [2]. When the dragon is "playing with its pearl," it's actually playing with "life." This motif embodies the dragon's status as a protector and caretaker of life [2].

Almost like a parent would...

#3: The Pearl as a Symbol of Love for the Dragons' Children

Now, some might think that all Longs are male, as the mythical creature symbolizing women is often the Fenghuang (and so one might think that all Fenghuangs are females). That's not true. Dragons and Fenghuang both have two, uh, sexes.

The "Two Dragons Chasing a Pearl" motif is popular in classical Chinese artwork. One of the dragons is male, and the other is female. The Pearl symbolizes egg/life, as stated in #2, which means the Pearl also comes to symbolize "a child" [1] [2].

In other words, Papa Dragon and Mama Dragon are playing with—and stealthily protecting—Anya Pearl.

An important note that isn't stated in any of my citations, but is nonetheless relevant: Chinese people may call themselves 龙的传人, "The Dragon's Heir." It means—as mythical origin goes—the Chinese people identify as "the children of the Long." Now connect this to what you learned in #3.

#4: The Pearl as the Sun

Sometimes the Pearl is ON FIRE!!!

This is especially predominant in the aforementioned "Two Dragons Chasing a Pearl" motif. The Pearl looks more like a fireball than an actual pearl. Below the Pearl, then, one may find a depiction of the sea.

"The Pearl leaps out from the ocean." What does that connotate? The rising sun [2]!

Now, what does it have to do with the dragon? Well, have a little detour.

The Four Symbols (四象)

You might have already heard of this, but in case you didn't: each cardinal direction has a "guardian."

东方青龙 // Azure Dragon of the East

西方白虎 // White Tiger of the West

南方朱雀 // Vermillion Bird of the South

北方玄武 // Black Warrior (or Black Tortoise) of the North

They represent more than just directions—they have their own traits, backstories, virtues, etc.

Who's the Guardian of the East? The Azure Dragon!

Now, drawing our discussion back to the Pearl, you can see why the dragon chases after it now, right? The Pearl is the Sun; it rises from the East. The Guardian of the East plays/chases after it as an emblem of ancient Chinese worship of the Sun [1] [2].

#5: The Pearl and the Dragons Representing Chinese Aesthetics [1]

Chinese art loves "wholeness" and "pair."

You often find a pair of things in Chinese culture: a pair of Door God, a pair of Chinese duilian (poetry of sorts; used for blessings and wishes), the likes. Chinese culture also really loves things like the full moon, because "roundness" symbolizes the whole, unity, and consummation.

Two dragons form a pair. In front of them, an orb—a round, whole object. Hence, the motif is well-beloved as it features two of the Chinese culture's favorite aesthetics [1].

Kinda hard to tell, but two dragons are playing with the pearl here.

Dear Santa... {Loid, Anya, and Yor}

Advent Calendar Event!

A/N: IM LOVE THEM waaah also it’s christmas eveeee!! merry christmas to everyone who celebrates and i hope everyone has a wonderful and warm season! There’s a few more advent calendars that will post (hopefully!) so look forward to those as well as a little after-christmas treat! 

Summary: Loid and Yor are helping Anya write a letter to Santa.

“Dear… Santa…” Anya said slowly, writing out the words on a piece of paper with her trusty crayon. Loid sat next to her, helping her with some spelling when she needed it while Yor made some hot chocolate and tea.

Anya stopped after a few moments. “What do I ask Santa for this year, Papa?”

Loid hummed. “Anything you want. Maybe you could ask him for a new stuffed animal?”

Anya shook her head. “Mr. Chimera is all I need. Hmm…”

Yor walked over with the drinks and sat down on the other side of Anya, peeking at her letter for Santa. “What about a new box of crayons? You’ve been drawing a lot more recently.”

Anya shook her head again. “Oh! I know!”

She started to scribble something down, Yor and Loid watching closely so they knew what she was wishing for.

“I wish… Mama and Papa… would stop flirting…” She said as she wrote. Loid and Yor broke into laughter, making Anya whine. “Don’t laugh!”

“But Anya,” Loid said, chuckling still. “We’re so in love! How could we not flirt?”

Yor flushed, then nodded her head quickly, playing along with Loid. “We’re married, Anya! That’s what married people do!”

“Eww!” Anya stuck out her tongue.

Loid hummed. “Well, I think you need to wish for something else, Anya. Is there anything else you want?”

Anya looked at Loid for a few moments, then shook her head. He sighed, poking her a little bit as she squirmed. “I don’t think Santa can get us to stop flirting, Anya.”

“Buhut he’s Sahanta!” She giggled, wiggling around as Loid started to tickle her. He glanced at Yor, who smiled back at him.

“Anya, surely there’s something else you want?” Yor chuckled, reaching over and scribbling lightly at Anya’s tummy as she squealed.

“Nohoho! I wahahant– Ehehehe!” She was quickly resigned to giggles and squeals as Yor and Loid gently ganged up on her, poking her and tickling her softly as she rolled around on the couch.

“I think Santa would be willing to get you some spy gear like what Bondman has,” Loid pointed out, making Anya kick her legs.

“I knohohow! I know whahahat I wahahant!” She squealed. Loid and Yor quickly stopped, letting her catch her breath as she grabbed her crayon again, scribbling some words down. Yor and Loid tried to peek at what she was writing, but she had begun to hide it with her arms.

She picked up the paper when she finished, holding it up for Loid and Yor to see.

‘Dear Santa,

I wish Mama and Papa would stop flirting for a pistol and silencer!

Loid snorted, and Yor nodded her head awkwardly. “I suppose that’s a start!”

Loid helped Anya tuck the letter into an envelope, promising that he would send it off to Santa on his way to work.

Tired Loid Episode German dub!

After Yor thought about how much and how long doctors work, she said "The poor guy" about Loid. Oh Yor you have no idea XD

Hhhhnng every time I rewatch that episode I try to suppress my whumper side and try to not focus on Loid's grunts of exhaustion at the beginning. Every time I fail.

Right before getting into his apartment block, while thinking how he never gets any time to rest, Twilight thinks to himself "Selbst Schuld"... which means "My own fault", practically thinking how it's his own choice to tire himself like that, since he knows how much his spy work requires yet he keeps doing it. It was interesting to add that recognition there.

When the neighbors were gossiping about how Loid must be cheating, one of them said "Men are pigs". Like whoa tone it down a little ok

Seriously though I like noticing the little things they add in. Like later, when the Forgers were just about to leave for the aquarium and Loid was seconds away from collapsing, it went like this:

Yor: Loid, I'm worried. You'd better rest. Loid: I'll live.

Again it's just an interpretation of the story (and even the anime is itself an interpretation since it's an adaptation of the manga) but it's interesting to see how different ones can add stuff but keep it in the same tone. Like, Yor was obviously worried in the original. But it does hit differently for her to voice that worry, and for Loid to actually acknowledge it a bit (an "I'll live" sounds a little more acknowledging than an "I'm alright" because with it Loid recognizes he should actually get some rest, but prioritizes putting up a front for the neighbors and keeping the mission safe).

Right outside the apartment when the first neighbors saw them, they said "We don't usually see you three together" and Loid replied "A lot happened this week but today we're going to the aquarium!" Homeboi has the excuses ready at any moment lol

When the Forgers were walking down the stairs to the underground train station, Anya said "Choo choo!" ADORBS.

After inviting the neighbors to join them in the aquarium, Yor thought "A normal family should get along well with their neighbors. Loid is certainly proud of me!"

No-one tell her.

Anya, thinking: Papa is having a crisis.

I love this episode. I love here how Anya decided to help him with the mission. Who knows how long it would have taken Loid to locate the target penguin if it weren't for her. I think his exhaustion even was having an effect; clear-minded Twilight would have surveyed the enclosure and pretty quickly spot the penguin that couldn't swallow water. But tired as he was, and stressed with trying to keep the pretense of a happy family man in front of the neighbors, it was all weighing down on him. Good thing Anya was there and so happy to help.

In the second part, where Anya is playing with Mr. Chimera and Penguinman, as she plays Director Chimera ordering Agent Anya, Chimera tells her to show their new agent their "Gebeimhasis"... which is a mispronunciation of "Geheimbasis", which means "secret base". The subtitles didn't include the mispronunciation, which was a shame. It's cute to hear the words she messes up. The "ooting" equivalent in the dub is "Spagierzang" instead of the correct word "Spaziergang".

"She is strong, but otherwise useless."

Right outside Loid and Yor's rooms, Anya thought how in there she could find the perfect "Bombs that go boom". I love that attention to keeping Anya the little girl she is <3

Anya at the Kamiyama Bookstore

Poor Touma. I don't think Anya would be interested much in books, considering how her little head is near-exploding just from her studies. I don't think she'd ever be interested in reading for pleasure (except maybe for stuff like manga/comics).

However, I do think Touma will be able to interest her in the bookstore's interactive storytime, especially if she gets to dress up as the daring super-spy Agent Anya. Together with her team of sidekicks (Bond, Chimera, Penguin, Ise, Touma, Rintaro and Kento) she saves the pretty princess from the clutches of the evil villain (idk who, maybe Ren lol)

Loid would probably not appreciate Touma and co going along with Anya's hyperactive imagination, but even he can't begrudge Anya's happiness so he lets it slide... for now
