Print successful?! Kinda ssooooo parts of it shouldn’t be shiny like that. I left some cleaning agent on it while I set it to cure. It’s a learning process.

Luckily I just need to sand it to fix it! I would have had the legs done too but that print fails. 3D printing is like 10% fails sometimes.

Horrible idea, I’m anxious as hell

But

I like the idea of printing mechs by the company and if this $160 printer can print $60 worth of mechs while I sleep then I feel like that’s a good mental health investment.

I survived flat pack machinery

I've spent like 6+ hours building and troubleshooting the 3D printer my brother got me and I finally got it to home and auto level

I'll fight it tomorrow and do my first print, should also clear out more of my room since I had to move a lot of stuff to get it on my desk

3D Printing Upgrade

This is my old printer. The screen stopped being 100% valid (turning on resulted in lines fluctuating across, which is obviously non-functional.) It served me well, and was a GREAT starter device. There are aspects about it I'll miss, but I'm very happy with the upgrade.

This was the top of the packaging of the new printer, which arrived on Friday.

I added these doodads. They're rechargeable air purifiers that go in the printer itself. I'll go into these later.

LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE IN BUILD PLATE SIZE! AAAAAAAAH! It's around 350% the size! (Left is the new one, to be clear)

New printer (AnyCubic Mono X 6Ks) on the left. Old printer (Anycubic Photon S) on the right. [special appearance by the Blackbeard/Kraken print, by Teylor Smirl, on the wall] I'm pleased that the footprint isn't 350%.

Got the new fella set up, ran the test file for calibration. It took way longer than I anticipated.

And it failed. There are supposed to be 8 of those little things hanging up there.

I'm hoping to at least partially turn my feed into some 3D printing stuff. I've made strides since this initial disappointment, so I'm looking forward to more stuff.

I mostly use it for TTRPG minis. So the feed will likely turn into a mini painting feed (I'm better at printing and letting the machine do all the work than I am at painting.)

Last week I finally 'impulse bought' a 3D printer (Anycubic Photon Mono 2 iirc, yes its tiny, its in the grey tent lol) that doesn't leave ugly lines and can print sculptures (aka the resin type) while half knowing what I'm getting into HAH. That's when one realizes the printer is cheap, everything else, isn't. Because it needs an enclosure and an airpump that drains the resin fumes outside, and a bunch of safety measures. I'm jokingly calling this my meth lab.... (but seriously, don't sniff resin guys)

Works fine, full week and no smells what so ever. Good looking sculpts too.

Its a bit bonkers, but realizing I won't be having more space for the upcoming years I thought waiting was just getting pointless, now or never, and learn to deal with tiny spaces. So far its been a great experience, it certainly has it hurdles besides calibrating and differences in software, I'm still figuring out how to process the resin waste. But we'll figure it out. Seeing my zbrush work in reality is worth the work. And yes its much better than VR imo.

That doesn't even take into account I've been fighting with a small test buste for a week now to have it cut up and print, this is where the issues in processing start, and if its not a sculpt issue its an app issue.

So the custom sculpts are going to have a delay until I figure out a system, but since I want a bit of everything on my wall that's fine. I sadly enough didn't sculpt much these past years, so I don't have a backlog oop.

But I am making progress that's for sure. Here are some examples of prints of free models. The big Vash is 11 cm in high. The gun is weird in both prints, so I think it has a support issue. My phone is terrible at close ups jfc I'm so sorry but its all I have.

the most tiny dragon is Tabletop print size, and the second one is a 200% in size.
