The anime doesn't do a good job of it but the first few chapters of the manga make arifureta really feel like it's going down the dark fantasy route.

Just look at these panels. This is good shit. Him flipping back and forth between a desperate urge to live and begging for the relief of death has emotion behind it. You really get the since he's losing his mind down there all chapter. In fact this early part is so gripping it actively makes the over the top ecchi power fantasy non-sense later worse. I'm not over the top power fantasy non-sense, with or without ecchi elements, I read fucking how not too summon a demon lord and liked it. The real problem is you actually EXPECT something else after this point. You've gotten invested in the gritty grimdark underdog story not the over powered protag story. You want to watch him struggle and rage and get kicked and kick back. You want to see where this goes. But then it doesn't go anywhere except a harem ecchi "comedy?" power fantasy that fails to both be a power fantasy OR funny on purpose. The most interesting part of the series becomes nothing more than window dressing for just another harem isekai. And the fact the MC is never enjoying himself, because of that window dressing, bogs down the whole mood of the over the top harem it seems the author really wanted to write.

I really want to give it the benefit of the doubt that they were just crunched for time because of issues with the 3d models and focusing on making everything pretty... which resulted in me skipping fights with bad cell shading and pointless stills that kept panning all over the place like a kindergartner’s PowerPoint presentation... not to mention details were either skipped or over explained. Manga definitely set a better pacing and gave enough time for other characters to not feel dumb down. Which anime main clearly stole most of their development... Rate: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♡ ♡ [3/5]

More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers Anime Unveils Teaser Visual, Main Staff

  After a simple announcement in November last year, the anime adaptation of Yuki Kanamaru's More Than a Marriage Couple, But Not Lovers (Fuufu Ijou, Koibito Miman) romantic comedy manga today revealed its first batch of finer details, which included a teaser visual and main staff members.

    The newly revealed staff members working with studio MOTHER (Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest Season 2) are as follows:

  Chief Director: Takao Kato (To Love Ru)

Director: Junichi Yamamoto (Armor Shop for Ladies & Gentlemen)

Series Composition: Naruhisa Arakawa (Spice and Wolf)

Character Design: Chizuru Kobayashi (Lagrange: The Flower of Rin-ne chief animation director)

SEAN: It’s May, but the winds are blowing here like it’s March. What manga is blowing our way?

Airship debuts The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes (Natsu e no Tonneru, Sayonara no Deguchi), the latest in a long line of “kind of depressing romance novels with a sci-fi bent” light novels that have been out here lately. For once it’s not based on a film, though one is coming soon.

ASH: I’ll admit, it’s a subgenre I frequently enjoy.

SEAN: Also in print: Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation 16 and Reincarnated as a Sword 10.

We also get early digital volumes of Adachi and Shimamura 9 and She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man 4.

From Cross Infinite World we get The Dragon’s Soulmate is a Mushroom Princess! (Ryuu no Ban no Kinoko Hime – Unmeida to Konyaku Hakisaretara, Kinoko no Hentai ga Yattekimashita). If you can imagine Kinoko Komori from My Hero Academia as the heroine of a romance novel, you pretty much have this one. Expect mushroom puns.

ASH: I do love mushrooms. And puns.

SEAN: Ghost Ship has a 10th volume of Parallel Paradise.

A very tiny week from J-Novel Club, which only has The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar 20 and My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me! 10.

In print from Kodansha, the debut is a box set, as we get Cells at Work! Complete Manga Box Set!. It is what it sounds like.

ASH: I really enjoyed this series as it was first being released.

SEAN: Also in print: Bakemonogatari 13 and Sayonara, Football 10, the manga that I always forget to mention because Kodansha doesn’t list it on their website.

Digitally we get two debuts. The Untouchable Midori-kun (Midori-kun ni wa Sawarenai) is the latest josei series, this time from Kiss. A woman goes to meet her new neighbor… and finds they went to school together! Can romance develop? Unlikely. He’s an idol singer, and she’s an adult film actress! Kodansha says this is for fans of Tokyo Tarareba Girls.

MICHELLE: Huh. I guess that means me, then.

ANNA: I might check it out.

ASH: Pretty sure I’m one of those fans, too.

SEAN: When a Cat Faces West (Neko ga Nishi Mukya) is from Afternoon, and is from the creator of Mushishi. That really should be enough, but it’s apparently about a woman trying to find out why she’s 35 years old but has the body of a tween.

MICHELLE: I’m excited to see more by this creator!

ANNA: This sounds so wacky.

ASH: Mushishi is one of my absolute favorites, so I’m likewise excited to see more of the creator’s work being released in English!

SEAN: Also digital: Blue Lock 13, Boss Wife 4, GTO Paradise Lost 17, I Guess I Became the Mother of the Great Demon King’s 10 Children in Another World 5, Irresistible Mistakes 2, and Piano Duo for the Left Hand 3.

One Peace gives us The Music of Marie (Marie no Kanaderu Ongaku), a Comic Birz title from the creator of Short Cuts, Lychee Light Club, Genkaku Picasso, and many more. It’s a fantasy about a world watched over by Maria, a mechanical goddess. What’s her secret? This is complete in one omnibus.

ASH: Speaking of favorites, I am also a fan of Usumaru Furuya’s work, so I’m very happy to see this release.

SEAN: Also from Viz: Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End 4, Golden Kamuy 26, Mashle: Magic and Muscles 6, Undead Unluck 7, the 21st and final volume of We Never Learn, and Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead 6. Well, now we know why Viz was so quiet two weeks ago – its Jump stuff got moved here. Also, RIP We Never Learn, a series that managed to face off against The Quintessential Quintuplets, which infuriated its entire fanbase, and STILL come in second.

Yen On’s light novel debut is I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too (Isekai de Cheat Skill wo Te ni Shita Ore wa, Genjitsu Sekai wo mo Musou Suru ~Level Up wa Jinsei wo Kaeta~), a title that makes me tired just reading it. The synopsis does as well. A bullied kid finds a doorway to another world, and gets the standard isekai package… which he can also bring home with him. Not gonna lie, I will be avoiding this with great avoid.

Arifureta, or with its full name “Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest” is a fantasy anime series that first aired in the summer of 2019. Although many anime lovers know the series with its anime, manga lovers first met the series with a light novel published in 2015 or its novel published in 2013. The story, written by Ryo Shirakome, was animated by White Fox and met with the audience on July 8, 2019. The studio, which has signed popular anime such as Re:Zero and Goblin Slayer, added Arifureta among them. The second season of Arifureta was animated by Studio Mother, who is still very new in the industry, and aired weekly between January 13, 2022, and March 31, 202. Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest, annunciata ufficialmente la terza stagione dell’anime

La serie proseguirà con alle spalle lo stesso staff della seconda stagione.

In occasione della proiezione in anteprima di “Phantom Adventure and Miraculous Encounter”, l’OAV che uscirà il 25 settembre con il 13° volume del romanzo, è stata ufficialmente confermata la produzione della terza stagione di “Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou” (Arifureta - From Commonplace to World’s Strongest).

I nuovi episodi della serie animata, tratta dalla light novel fantasy isekai nata dalla penna di Ryo Shirakome ed illustrata da TakayaKi, saranno realizzati sempre dallo stesso staff che si è occupato della seconda stagione, presso lo studio ASREAD (Big Order, Megami-ryo no Ryobo-kun).

La prima stagione di 13 episodi (più due inediti usciti con l’edizione home video), è andata in onda nell’estate 2019. Prodotta in collaborazione con lo studio WHITE FOX (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Steins;Gate 0), a dirigerla è stato Kinji Yoshimoto (Unbreakable Machine-Doll, Seven Mortal Sins).

La seconda stagione, composta invece da 12 episodi e diretta da Akira Iwanaga (Mononokean l’imbronciato, Isuca), è andata in onda durante l’inverno 2022 ed è stata realizzata con l’aiuto di STUDIO MOTHER (More than a married couple, but not lovers).

Il diciassettenne Hajime Nagumo è il classico otaku medio. Un giorno, la sua vita semplice fatta di notti in bianco e pisolini sul banco di scuola viene stravolta quando lui e l’intera classe si ritrovano improvvisamente trasportati in un altro mondo. Qui vengono accolti come eroi ed incaricati di salvare il genere umano.

Con loro grande sorpresa, i ragazzi si ritrovano in possesso di poteri quasi divini. Quello che per Hajime sembra un sogno ad occhi aperti però diventa subito un incubo. Al contrario degli altri lui ha ricevuto in dono solo una grande forza fisica ed una semplice abilità di trasmutazione da Sinergista. Riuscirà a sopravvivere alle angherie dei compagni e ai pericolosi mostri che minacciano quella terra di fantasia?

La light novel è stata lanciata nel 2013 sul sito Shosetsuka ni Naro e dal 2015 viene pubblicata anche in formato cartaceo; attualmente l’opera conta 12 volumi.

A partire dal 2016 ne viene serializzata una versione manga, disegnata da RoGa, giunta invece al 10° volumetto.

Del franchise fanno parte anche una novel prequel dal titolo “Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou Zero” e i due manga spinoff chiamati “Arifureta Gakuen de Sekai Saikyou” e “Arifureta Nichijou de Sekai Saikyou”. Il primo è una commedia romantica ad ambientazione scolastica, mentre il secondo è una commedia slice of life.
