The Undecided AU: Red Sun

Made an OC for my Undecided AU Red Sun, the son of SunBlast and Penumbra and Connor's Best Arch Frenemy

Name: Solano Sombra Solís (nickname: Red, Sol, Triple S, Reddy by Conner 😂)

(Note: I thought of this name Solano as it means place exposed to the sun and Sombra means shadow in Spanish I thought it would fit as an eclipse forms a shadow when it gets close to the sun, SunBlast's civilian name which is Saúl Solís,- refer to the image of SunBlast below, and it kinda sounds like Penumbra's civilian name, Penelope Numbra Braxton. Penumbra and SunBlast came up with the name because both of them want their child to enjoy the sun and remember the shadows.)

Powers: Red Sun inherited both of his parents powers and use them separately and at the same time, called solar prominence. Initially he had a difficult time controlling them.

He also glows red in colour which is inspired by solar prominence, powerful explosions from the Sun, which is usually invisible to the naked eye but can be seen during an eclipse, where the moon is blocking the sun and that looks like red death ray blasts coming from the surface of the Sun. This is why his name is Red Sun and his costume is also red.

Background: After Penumbra managed to find a way to unshrink SunBlast, he became a diplomat and attempted to foster better relationship, understanding and friendship between those who suffer the umbra condition and those who do not in the city of Atreno.

One of his successful acts include convincing the mayor of Atreno to use Penumbra's weather machine some times in a week to make it cloudy so that the Umbra citizens can go outside without worrying about being burnt to a crisp.

Hearing this news, many of the Umbras who moved to Alaska came back to the city of Atreno.

Afterwards, SunBlast proposes to Penumbra which she accepts and they were married with an eclipse style wedding and with both sides attending.

When they talk about kids, Penumbra wants to wait until they are able to develop a cure for the umbra condition because she fears that their child might inherit her condition, and wants the child to enjoy the sunlight, SunBlast agrees.

(This is why Red Sun has no umbra condition and somewhat resembles Penumbra before her umbra condition.)

Later on, with the help of SunBlast, Penumbra was able to find a cure to the umbra condition and both of them were hailed as the heroes of the city.

(Note: Penumbra is able to still use her powers after being cured.)

However despite SunBlast and Penumbra's heroic deeds and SunBlast explaining the real story of what really happened to him after his disappearance, P.E.A.C.E. and the public outside of Atreno still considers Penumbra And SunBlast as villains and also considers Atreno "a villain controlled city".

P.E.A.C.E. orders Albedo (Jonathan Guerrero), who in the eyes of the public is considered "the first Umbra hero" to take down Penumbra and SunBlast for controlling their city and for spreading "misinformation" about the organisation being corrupt and hiring corrupt heroes.

Albedo, who refuses to give up his fame, fortune and title as a hero of Atreno attempts to do as P.E.A.C.E. says and takes down the couple but always ends up failing...

Albedo is instructed by P.E.A.C.E. the cure Penumbra created as it means supporting the villains, which he believes was "supporting the villains" he thinks it was a small price to pay for being a hero which he agrees.

However, secretly he got the cure for his daughter (who is a teenager at this time).

(I theorised that that little girl visiting Albedo after getting injured from fighting Penumbra is his daughter)

But also spreads misinformation that whoever uses the cure is "evil" and is "siding with the villains". There were a few umbras who supported P.E.A.C.E. hence refuse to use the cure and would rather be burnt to a crisp by the sun than to be labeled as a villain.

This caused a divide between him and his daughter for telling lies and putting his title as a hero over title as a hero over the umra citizens "who he swore to protect". He argues that his lies are what puts food on the table, a shelter on their heads and enables them to live a life of luxury they can only dream and if he doesn't P.E.A.C.E. would take everything away from them and blacklist him as a villain, making him unable to find a job and be shunned from society.

SunBlast and Penumbra would often fight Albedo who is now both of the Arch-Nemesis, curb all the misinformation by him and P.E.A.C.E. and attempt to stop the remaining umbra's self destructive behaviour over believing such false rumors.

Goals: To clear his parents city's name and clean up the corruption in P.E.A.C.E.

Solano, despite his parents best efforts trying to hide the problems they are facing from their son, he still sees despite being heroes and all the selfless heroic good deeds they have done they are still considered as villains to the general public and he can see this clearly especially when they go out of Atreno. Atreno was also blacklisted by P.E.A.C.E. as a villain run city, ruining the city's reputation and reducing the tourism, business opportunities of the city, which in turn affected its economy.

Hence the young boy made it his life goal to clear his parents and city's name. To do that he has to enroll at P.E.A.C.E. and become the top hero so that he can finally make changes in his system and bring justice to his family and city.

SunBlast and Penumbra tried to dissuade their son, but he already made up his mind and enrolled in the P.E.A.C.E. Academy school of heroes when he was old enough.

SunBlast called to enlist the help of his old coach, who reconciled and apologised after siding with Miss Heed. (will explain this in a future post), to help train his son.

The coach was already a personal tutor and teaching The Vigilante (Conner), who was a part time student there and that was the start of their rivalry.

Personality: Red Sun, becomes so focused on his goals grew up to be a very serious and intimidating person, who rarely jokes with people.

Hence his serious expression in the drawing.

Despite his good attention of becoming a hero, he also wants to achieve success for himself at the same time.

He is someone hot tempered and often takes things way too seriously.

Even though his parents tried many times to tell him that he should not take things too seriously and loosen up, and he should not put too much pressure on himself like he has the weight of the world of his shoulders, he won't listen.

Relationship with The Vigilante: He despises Connor because despite, being in the same boat as him: having a villain parent and a hero one (Red Sun considers both of his parents heroes but he knows his mother considers herself a villain) the heroes in the school were more accepting and welcoming to Conner because his father is GoldHeart, that was also another reason he hated him because GoldHeart was a corrupted hero and stood for everything he was against.

(He is a somewhat neutral Flug as he is friends with his mother.)

Meanwhile the students are more suspicious and untrustworthy of him because of his parents and he had to work extremely hard to earn their respect.

Connor is also somewhat more likeable and popular amongst the other students due to his friendly and easygoing personality while people are afraid of him due to his serious and intimidating personality.

He also hates Connor, because despite not taking heroing seriously, and also doing villain activities on the side, he is able to excel hero training through is strategic thinking during team hero missions and leading them to victory.

Hence, he often tries to out due him in everything. As well as make it a point to after him whenever he can while he is doing villainous activities. He is often annoyed at his trolling and crazy hero-villain antics which drive him crazy.

Eventually both of them will get along and balance each other out. Connor will become more serious while Red Sun, will learn to loosen up, making him a better leader

As well as putting his ego aside, for the success of the heroes as a whole, even though he is not the one bringing it (such as being part of of Connor's crazy plans and ideas) and eventually learning that the world was not as black and white as he thought so and needs to adapt to it in order to succeed and achieve his goals.

Although one day when he was seven, he was taken by a figure called The Dark Queen (made by @numbuhbenjiseis) and educated into becoming her loyal servant. He always felt something was wrong, but ignored it. He was given a new name, Eres Copular, and eventually was corrupted into a servant on his 13th birthday, where he finally found what was wrong. He didn't feel himself, so he finally found a way to fix it. He changed himself to be the opposite of what his parents wanted. Including him being a girl. To this day, he serves The Dark Queen, corrupting others into her legions.

Tale Of Two Souls Abandoned By Their Community

I noticed from the instagram account of Penumbra is showing the evolution of Sunblast and Penumbra’s relationship together. It evolves from starch archenemies to being probably the people they can most rely on especially after each of their communities basically abandons them. With Sunblast, it’s obvious that the superhero community basically treats superheroes as expendable celebrities and might seem on the surface to care about his disappearance but it’s all for show because no one cares about the fact he is alive because of how shallow and vapid the public is they latch onto the next hot shot hero. I also think that it symbolizes how Sunblast who used to be a part of the mainstream now has been abandoned by it when it’s convenient. He’s a poster mainstream hero but even then they didn’t think twice of leaving him to his wits because they wanted to move on quickly. And as a result, the superhero community in villainous represents the mainstream of people who want celebrities instead of true heroes. 

It could have just left right there until we find Penumbra in the same situation. The biggest support she had was the Umbras who always believed she was looking out for them. Just like how Sunblast represented the mainstream, she represented the marginalized and was their biggest voice. That is until she injured the hero, Albedo, who turned out to be an Umbra herself and just like that the group she thought to protect turned on her due to seeing how rough she took him out. If that wasn’t enough she even got cut from her sponsorship as well which again shows to show that Penumbra has hit the same place as Sunblast did before. Even though I could always see her dad being there for her, I do think that she would feel that she would cause him to have a target as well. In the end, she went too far into her label as a villain which caused people to ostracize her because she didn’t live up to the image she was supposed to project. It shows both sides could easily turn on their protectors or trade them out when they feel they haven’t lived up to their images. 

One thing that brings both of their marginalization together is Miss Heed who not only replaces Sunblast as Atreno’s new hero but also replaces Penumbra as a protector of the Umbra as well. She thus projects a (false) image of someone who wants to bring together a city that has societal issues. However, as everyone has seen, she really has no one but her own goals when it comes to superheroing. Miss Heed couldn’t give a rats butt about the city or umbras but it’s all for good publicity. Thus she represents a false sense of solidarity with the umbras where Penumbra had genuine interest. At the same time, she also represents the mainstream vapidness of modern superheroing that Sunblast stood in for. She just hides her nastiness better than he did but it’s obvious she’s just as self-serving as Sunblast was before he evolved. In my opinion, she represents celebrity activism that seems to be doing good work but you know it’s just for the sake of images rather than actually helping the people she represents. 

In the end, it is interesting how both grew to find trust and hope in one another when no one did even though they started off as archenemies. It’s probably a good case of showing who is truly your ally and who will always have your back, even if they are the most unlikely people you first encountered in life.

Ayer, los Atrenians que sufren la extraña condición de luz solar, localmente conocida como "Umbras", se manifestaron fuera del ayuntamiento (Palacio Municipal) de Atreno, donde rechazaron la propuesta #ClearSkies que fue presentada por el congresista Atreno: Jannet Gaston.

Si la propuesta #ClearSkies se hace oficial, las personas que sufren la condicón UMBRA tendrán que abandonar Atreno City por su propia seguridad, "Para ellos quedarse significaría una amenaza constante para su salud debido a la exposición diaria a la luz solar, simplemente no pueden vivir así, esto es lo mejor para todos". Así lo dice el congresista Gaston.

Un gran grupo de Umbras se manifestó hoy afuera del ayuntamiento con señas y pancartas en contra de la propuesta ClearSkies, argumentando que no abandonarán sus trabajos, familias, casas y vidas, y exigirán otras soluciones. Las autoridades trataron de calmar al grupo Umbra, pero fue hasta que llegó Sunblast que la manifestación terminó con éxito y en paz.

Reportes afirman que algunos Umbras ya se han trasladado de Atreno a "lugares más oscuros" y, según los estudios, están viviendo vidas más sanas y felices.

Doctora Peneolpe Numan Braxton, una brillante cientifica en ascenso que trabaja para Shi-Bo Inc. fue identificada como la supervillana local de Atreno "PENUMBRA", mostrando habilidades super-humanas.

La Doctora Braxton fue presumiblemente alterada después del incidete de la feria de ciencias Shi-bo en la Universidad de Atrno (Mayo 25, 2005) donde Shi-Bo presentó al mundo el proyecto de la Doctora Braxton: la nube protectora del glaciar ambiental.

No estoy muy segura de esta última oración.

Durante la demostración en la Expo Ciencia de Atreno el dispositivo sufrió un mal funcionamiento desconocido que causó que explotara, liberando una extraña nube tóxica púrpura/violeta que se extendió cubriendo un porcentaje de Atreno del Norte hasta que fue controlado por una de nuestras divisiones especiales junto con las autoridades locales, la nube fue erradicada, pero afectó al 20% de la población de Atreno y a la misma Braxton (quien estaba de pie a la derecha del dispositivo cuando éste explotó) con una extraña condición que los hace vulnerables a la lus del sol; un raro desorden que hace que la piel del sujeto se vuelva pálida, provoca la pérdida del cabello y hace que la exposicion prolongada a la luz solar sea extremadamente dañina o mortal para el sujeto. La condición fue llamada como "Transtrono Numbra" por el centro médico de Atreno.

Sin embargo, Braxton no sólo fue alteraada con el Transtorno Numbra, sino con algún tipo de habilidad superhumana que le permite manipular una sustancia extraña parecida al humo que rodea su cabeza. Ella a menuda usa esto para lesionar, dañar o agredir.

Con el paso de los años, Braxton ha ido operando bajo la identidad de Penumbra ejecutando varios intentos para cubrir el sol sobre Atreno Norte y el área central. Todos sus intentos fueron frustrados por la policia y el súper héroe SunBlast, que expuso su identidad (la de Braxton) al publico en una reciente batalla cerca del centro de convenciones de Atreno.

Después de las discusiones con alto mando y el super héroe ------, ha sido dictado que ese Sunblast será el encargado de mantener bajo control a la Doctora Braxton, y que ni las autoridades de Atreno ni las nuestras estarán involucradas en el caso.

What were her plans exactly? She wanted Goldheart to fall in love with her but what's the problem to do the same thing that she did with the whole Atreno City? And I think the answer to this question will be that they never actually met personally. It seems like she was already planning to brainwash Goldie since she insisted on sitting near him at the summit. But this leads to the question how does she know about his plans on taking down evil once and for all if they have never even met? And if they have met, how didn't she hypnotise him like the others?

Exclusive: Heroes against Villainy

Since the terrible events that occurred in the City of Cosmopolis, Villainy has increased at an alarming rate throughout the country new cases of villains committing robberies and atrocities for no apparent reason appear on a regular basis.

The super hero Goldheart continues his efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of villainy by leading a series of demonstration in the most important cities in the world.

But the fight against villainy continues everyday by these brave heroes.

This is my theory on What Happened form P.E.A.C.E's side after they locked up Miss Heed in rehab and took away her internet access:

GoldHeart and the other the high commands at P.E.A.C.E. (which I theorised based on this is what GoldHeart also is) had a meeting on what to do to fix the reputation damage caused by Miss Heed kissing Flug.

GoldHeart reassures the others that eventhough there is a lot of backlash from the public towards P.E.A.C.E. now, he says not to worry as the Villains will basically be the one to clean up this public scandal for them.

The other P.E.A.C.E. higher ups asks how so?

GoldHeart says that all they have to do now is wait, and just continue as per normal, as he predicted that there will be an increase in villainy after the Villains get out of their mind control and afterwards the public will basically turn to the heroes again for help or to rescue them from these Villains and be reminded who their saviours are once again, hence making the public basically forgiving, forgetting or just being generally distracted by outbreak in Villainy to remember the scandal of a P.E.A.C.E. hero mind controlling thr public for selfish reasons.

Afterwards all the heroes have to do is just double down on their message saying how much they are united in the fight against Villainy in response to the recent rise in crime through demonstrations in the most important cities in the world and on social media with the #HeroésUnidos (#HeroesUnited)

Afterwards get their one sided news and media outlets (such as Arenque News) to cover the rise in crime and the heroes united efforts against them.

He will be infront and leading these demonstrations, of course, to ensure the efforts to clean up P.E.A.C.E.'s image goes well and (also to make himself look good, being the leader and uniting front of heroes in the fight against villains) and they should also include a bunch of Heroes who have been mind controlled by Miss Heed in the front of message (will make a theory on why these heroes still stand by P.E.A.C.E. despite what Miss Heed has done to them) and make sure that the news gets a clear shot of them in the next to him, just to make it clear that that that whatever events that transpired in Cosmopolis are miniscule and won't break apart the P.E.A.C.E. heroes who are united against fighting against these dangerous Villains making it clear that the real enemy and public threat are the Villains not the Heroes.

Compiling all the news at the bottom of the screen (and my notes and theories in brackets.)

Members of the Trencher heroine construction team reported complications in the Golden Plaza construction site near Yggdrasil. Apparently, the heavy machinery and materials shipped to the location continue to disappear without a trace. The heroine has vehemently declared if these disappearances continue to occur, she will take more drastic measures to complete her mission.

The hero "Albedo" is discharged from the Atreno hospital and returns to his activities, now as the new protecter and the first Umbra hero of the city of Atreno.

(From Miss Heed and Penumbra's Instagram: Albedo is an Umbra hero that competed in "The New Dawn" to become the new hero of Atreno City, but was defeated by Penumbra.

Despite defending herself, she felt immensely guilty for attacking an Umbra which she vowed to protect.

Afterwards Miss Heed went to make herself look good on social media by taking a photo of her visiting and him in the hospital and giving him a present, "A solar blocker for Umbras" made by her company to also boost the products sales.

So in the present day it seems that he actually became the protector after Miss Heed's defeat and celebrated as the "first Umbra hero" which is ironic as should fall to Penumbra for relentlessly trying to find the cure for the Umbra condition, however she is not recognised by P.E.A.C.E. as the hero because the unknown cause of her invention's accidental malfunction is what lead to the Umbra condition as well her methods to help the Umbra, such as blocking out the sun is seen as controversial to P.E.A.C.E.)

Negotiations on the merger between large pharmaceutical companies Genet Inc. and Medtrox Corp. have ended without reaching an agreement. The director of Genet Inc. has expressed his dissatisfaction with the outcome of the meeting. No statement was reported from the director of Medtrox Corp.

(This is far fetched but I theorised is that Genet Inc. is owned by Miss Heed's father, Mr. Kelly, because genet is a catlike mammal with big ears, which a pre-hero Miss Heed might have gotten her love of cats from seeing as she is wearing big cat ears.

This also makes sense on how Miss Heed was able to get the chemicals and equipment to mass produce the formula, because it was already available in her father's pharmaceutical company and able to make the solar blocker cream mentioned above. Miss Heed Organisation, might also be a subsidiary company of Genet Inc.

And also her father owning a pharmaeutical company was the reason which inspired her to take evil science in the first place.

Looks like Mr. Kelly appears to be busy at work trying to negotiate a merger with Medtrox Corp, which I theorised it might belong to Flug's dad which would also explain how he got his love of science and a recent theory I made of Flug's family not having anything to do with P.E.A.C.E. or The Podemos Bailar. If that's the case it would be hilariously ironic situation 😂 that Miss Heed stole Flug's formula, left him for his Arch-Nemesis and the kissing which led to rehab, and now Miss Heed's dad wants to to do business with Flug's dad and got rejected)

At the "Grandma's Pinch" bar in front of Saint Riego and DiJuanita, a fight to place between the gang "Rotten Skulls" lead by the villain, Deadskin and the gang "Angry Cockroaches" of the villain, Speed Demon. After an intervention from P.E.A.C.E almost all the criminals were captured, except the two leaders who remain at large.

(Perhaps this will be a possible new side story of two Villains working together and putting aside their differences to save their gangs, also maybe the bar belongs to Silver Silk, that grandma Villain, in Risky Heist.)

She truly thinks she knows what is better for the numbra than them and really believes that them not being able to breed will help the future. She also has this view other people with mutant traits as well. Despite saying she is also doing this for the future of children, she really can't stand being around them and often treats them as pests but still think she knows better than parents having them. She also looks down on Penumbra since their college days due to being science prodigies and was always jealous of her brilliance. She would resent her even more for creating the numbra problem and even think she deserves being called a villain for what she has done. She is seen as a nemesis of the umbra for her stance that people like them should be banned from breeding so they don't spread the numbra disorder to future offspring. She is also an old college rival of Penumbra and has butt heads with her in the past due to her role in creating the numbras and their old rivalry. She is also set to oppose her even if she's trying to fix her mistakes.

* She is inspired by Dolores Jane Umbridge and many disability advances that have abelistic stances.

* She was supportive of Sunblast and him fighting against Penumbra due believing her solutions made everything worse.

* After the disaster that happened with Penumbra's invention, she went into politics after studying the numbra disease and was determined to thwart it.

* She would have become a full time geneticist if Penumbra's experiment didn't go haywire.

* She is a fan of Miss Heed and still believed she was innocent, especially when the cover up came to excuse her of her crimes.

* She campaign against other mutants breeding like Nuclear zombies like Coyote and would find out that Green Rod had a child that was a nuclear zombie and say that she should have been born.

Wish your Villainous opinions weren’t so unpopular. I mean that I wish there were more people to discuss everything with, I feel like I’m the only one that doesn’t like Penumbra. Everybody else seems to see her as this good natured person, but her solution to the Umbra syndrome was covering the Sun in a city that we can assume relies on the Sun to function (cuz all those solar panels everywhere). She took “responsibility” by making her problem everybody else’s problem too. People say that she had tried other things first but seeing that she sold her soul at the first chance she got, instead of trying to fight Sunblast properly, I don’t think so (even if it’s implied that she’s winning against these new heroes because she was basically told how to defeat them, which makes it less impressive).

I dont think you're the only one that dislikes Penumbra. I used to like her, but then I saw all the crap she's doing and still kinda plays the victim. It gets annoying and repetitive. Also, I forgot that almost all the places in Atreno had solar panels. So, yeah, she'd rather disrupt businesses and other's way of lives because she fucked up. It's really unfair that the fandom just sees her as an "uwu" person just because she's "bullied".

I'm sure more people dislike her, but because the fandom doesn't like negative opinions, you dont hear them at all or often.
