How 3D Scanners Revolutionize Archaeology

As a science that explores human history and culture, archaeology has always relied on excavation and manual recording to preserve artifacts and cultural relics. However, this discipline has ushered in a technological revolution in recent years. The introduction of 3D scanning technology has changed the traditional way of working, making archaeological research more efficient, accurate and interactive. With its unique non-contact measurement method, 3D scanners have completely changed the way archaeologists obtain, store and analyze data, bringing great changes to cultural heritage protection.

How 3D Scanning Works 3D scanners capture point cloud data on the surface of an object through lasers, structured light or other sensors to generate a three-dimensional model of the object. These devices can perform high-precision scans of objects of various materials, from tiny artifacts to entire archaeological sites, and can be digitally preserved. Different types of scanners have their own advantages. For example, a fragile piece of pottery may not be able to be moved multiple times, but with 3D scanning technology, only one scan is needed to generate a digital model for research and display. Researchers can observe and analyze artifacts from different angles without touching the original, thereby minimizing potential damage to the artifacts.

Expanding research perspectives 3D scanning technology is not only a tool for recording cultural relics, but also provides new analytical methods for academic research. With the help of computer programs, researchers can measure every detail on the digital model to obtain richer research data. For example, when studying the traces of use of ancient tools, using 3D scanning models can magnify tiny wear details, and can also be used with an all-in-one 3D scanner to help scholars understand the purpose and frequency of use of tools.

viktor doesn't relax what are you talking about?? serious answer, sex or a warm mug of sweetmilk before bed. i was joking earlier but he really doesn't have hobbies — he works or tinkers with work - adjacent projects until he crashes, unless he has a man in his bed or he's too exhausted in which case he'll indulge in his favourite treat before succumbing to rest. this is why he needs a fully augmented body, to render rest and relaxation unnecessary. i think viktor welcomes most change, whether it's good or bad — stagnation makes him restless, so a change is an opportunity for him to react. a good change will invigorate him, a bad one gives him a problem to solve.

his most arrogant behaviour comes out whenever he believes he's the smartest person in the room, so basically any time jayce isn't present ( jayce gets to share that spot with him ). it's not immediately obvious unless you know him well enough, his condescension is fairly subtle, but if he thinks people who aren't on his level intellectually are letting their uninformed opinions or — gods forbid — emotions cloud their judgement, he's going to have an attitude. he's also overly confident in his augmentations, so he's going to act arrogant on the battlefield.

sorry jayce his most transformative experiences to date are seeing rio rotting alive and forced to stay in a constant state of suffering for the sake of progress as well as waking up with a considerable amount of his body replaced with hextech </3 similarly, his most reckless decisions to date are self-administering shimmer and all the self - inflicted cyborgification. his body is an ongoing science project, consequences be damned.

yes and no to being jealous and possessive. he's never had cause to be prior to jayce, and in the early years of their partnership he 's secure enough in that that he doesn't need to feel jealous or possessive. that starts to change the more jayce gets pulled into politics and viktor's illness and disability worsen, his resentment over their situations giving rise to other ugly feelings. the mh is a different beast though ; he gets so little of jayce now that they stand as enemies that you're going to have to pry him from his bloodied, dead hands. he thinks little of any possible lovers jayce may take in piltover, as long as he can remain secure in the knowledge that no one else takes up as much space in his mind as viktor does.

viktor is the type that lets obsession consume him, no matter what it's about. hextech, the glorious evolution, jayce talis ... they fill him with purpose until there's no room for anything else. he doesn't know how to live a balanced existence.

he's not very good at expressing his love. he grew up as an orphan in zaun ; caring was a weakness no one could afford to spare him, and the one time he loved something it ended in tragedy ( rip rio ). by the time he meets jayce he's closed himself off emotionally, and the way the other is so free with his affection — touch, verbal affirmation, quality time — definitely catches him off - guard. he does his best to return the sentiment, but old instincts are set deep and he's never going to be able to let himself feel fully exposed. instead, he tries to be encouraging, and focuses his efforts on the work ; making hextech a reality is a way to make jayce's dream a reality, which is the highest form of love and care viktor is capable of giving. hextech, and his work in general, are also an extension of viktor's caring ; he wants to create things that help people. he may not be able to express and give his love directly ( what good would that even be? ) but he can make things.

Hey, genuine question--why do you not think any nonbinary people exist? Like, very genuinely curious, not trying to "call you out" or anything. I'm someone who experiences gender dysphoria over both purely "male" and purely "female" appearances; I've worked with a few different gender therapists and we've come to the conclusion that my dysphoria requires me to have a mixture of both in order to assuage it, and I've worked with several doctors to achieve a body with mixed sex traits after coming to that conclusion. I've never actually heard of any medical science that says mixed-sex-trait dysphoria doesn't exist--I'd be interested in looking into it to be honest, while I feel very comfortable with my body these days and I'm quite mentally healthy, I'm willing to consider that I may have been misled as to the reality of the world.

(Obviously, I'm not supportive of "non-transitioning" "nonbinary" people, btw. You have to transition to be transsexual, and I share skepticism of the people who claim to be "nonbinary" and never undergo hormones or surgery! I'd just never seen any science that disproved mixed-sex-trait dysphoria before--all the science that I've seen has disproven the idea of "non transitioning" transsexuals, but not touched on the existence of real transsexuals with mixed-sex goals, properly supported by multiple therapists and doctors of course.)

Like you say in this ask, there just doesn’t seem to be any actual evidence towards nonbinary, and a lot of defense of it as an identity relies heavily or even purely on self identification and conflating gender with gender roles or masculinity/femininity.

Gender dysphoria does exist on a spectrum of severity and a lot of trans people will want to maintain certain features of their body from their birth gender. I think it depends on what “mixed sex traits” you are referring to, because a trans man not wanting facial hair or a trans woman not wanting chest augmentation seem to be pretty normal trans experiences and I would say is just more indicative that very few people are purely masculine or feminine rather than a mix of the two to some degree.

I do recall a recent study about the effects of misgendering between trans and nonbinary people that had some interesting results but I don’t think there’s really been all that much research into evidence to support the identity itself like there has been a decent amount of for the gendered pattern of trans people vs their cis counterparts brains.
