john kramer gets called for jury duty and the trial is the conviction of a jigsaw copycat. he can’t recuse himself because it’s not like he can tell the court that actually, he’s the real jigsaw, so he’s stuck trying to give his real input on the guy’s traps without making the other jurors suspicious that he may have real-world experience with it all.

Tendou’s Teachings

Ushijima learned a lot from Tendou.

The red-head goes on and on about this and that - school, volleyball, a girl he likes, video games, the manga he started reading and is now strongly recommending to Ushijima so they can talk about it.

Amongst all of that, the thing Ushijima is probably most thankful for is Tendou translating phrases from his peers to him. If it wasn’t for his best friend, Ushijima would be lost when people tell him that something was “giving” or whatever a “pookie” was, since most of it lacked context clues. What did a fax have to do with agreement and why couldn’t you say you went along with said agreement without emphasizing that there was “no printer”? Ushijima’s head was spinning in the locker room hearing Tendou talking to Semi in that fashion. However, that did not stop him from adapting Tendou’s teachings into his everyday life to show his appreciation.

After tonight’s casual training some players stayed longer to practice two on two, Ushijima and Semi against Tendou and Goshiki.

“Ooooooh yeah!”, Tendou called, cheering when he blocked one of the captain’s spikes. His hand throbbed but it was worth it to see the surprise on Ushiwaka’s face.

“Gotcha gooood!” Tendou spun on the spot waiting for at least Semi to retort with some witty smack talk.

Ushijima bent down to pick up the blocked volleyball and looked at his friend for a few moments before blankly saying, “Slay, king.”

A breeze whistled through the open door between the four players, filling the perplexed silence. Goshiki’s jaw dropped. Then Tendou collapsed on the floor in a hysterical giggle fit. Ushijima turned to Semi, “Was that not correct?”

“Nono,”, Semi put a hand on his shoulder, suppressing his own laughter, “you did good. King.”

i really like the headcanon that he's a father figure to rumple and mungo! he's probably always stressing about them hehe. he's the only one who won't fall for their pranks so it makes for a fun past time for the twins to one day manage to successfully prank skimble (it'll never happen). i also think he's just very lovable to all the younger cats too :) everyone's favourite uncle
