Pakistani human rights and land defender Ayisha Siddiqa was set to give a speech on November 17 at COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. However, when it was her turn to take the mic, she instead said, ‘I was intending to come here and share with you facts and data, and the stories of the women who have had to give birth in flood zones, of the ancestors whose graves have drowned, and I don’t think that’s what people need to hear right now.’ Siddiqa then went on to deliver a powerful poem which read in part, ‘I tell you that even our dead have drowned in their graves, and you ask me to be polite. You ask me not to blame or shame, and remember the color of my skin, the sound of my tongue, and my place in your world.’

UN adviser says the ‘white man has brought life as we know it to the verge of extinction’: ‘Racial harmony is fallacy’
A United Nations youth climate adviser has a history of social media posts that call for the destruction of capitalism, claim “terrorism” is used as a Western smear to justify its imperialism and attack White people for purportedly fueling humanity’s extinction vis-à-vis the climate crisis.
The United Nations’ Secretary-General António Guterres personally selected Pakistani-American Ayisha Siddiqa as one of his advisers to help “accelerat[e] the implementation of his climate action agenda,” a 2023 UN announcement stated. Siddiqa was a Time Woman of the Year in 2023 who has co-founded two youth climate activist organizations.
“The Secretary-General’s Youth Advisory Group on Climate Change provides him with practical and outcome-focused advice… and concrete recommendations, with a clear focus on accelerating the implementation of his climate action agenda. Convened under the auspices of the United Nations [as it]… works to accelerate global climate action,” the announcement said.
One of the criteria for candidates landing the two-year assignment was a “demonstrated commitment to the UN’s values.”
According to her social media posts, Siddiqa is more than an environmentalist.

She unabashedly promotes radical leftist beliefs like abolishing the police, espousing socialist ideals, sharing Marxist-themed and anti-capitalist content while repeatedly denigrating White people.

Un poema de Ayisha Siddiqa
What if the future is soft and revolution is so kind that there is no end to us in sight.
Whole cities breathe and bad luck is bested by a promise to the leaves.
To withstand your own end is difficult.
The future frolics about, promised to no one, as is her right.
Rage against injustice makes the voice grow harsher yet.
If the future leaves without us, the silence that will follow will be an unspeakable nothing.
What if we convince her to stay?
How rare and beautiful it is that we exist.
What if we stun existence one more time?
When I wake up, get out of bed, my seven year old cousin
with her ruptured belly tags along.
Then follows my grandmother, aunts, my other cousins
and the violent shape of their drinking water.
The earth remembers everything,
our bodies are the color of the earth and we
are nobodies.
Been born from so many apocalypses, what’s one more?
Love is still the only revenge. It grows each time the earth is set on fire.
But for what it’s worth, I’d do this again.
Gamble on humanity one hundred times over
Commit to life unto life, as the trees fall and take us with them.
I’d follow love into extinction.

Pakistani climate activist Ayisha Siddiqa has made it to TIME’s Women of the Year 2023. She’s featured alongside the likes of Angela Bassett, Cate Blanchett and Phoebe Bridgers. The 24-year-old human rights and climate defender is hoping to find a way to bring “humanity back into the staid, high-level conversations that increasingly occupy her time.” According to the outlet, “Siddiqa felt the…
