GW1 (2005) // GW2 (2014)
Dry Top
Modern day Dry Top doesn’t actually map the same area as original Dry Top. This area had no features of any importance, save one encampment owned by a distinctive albino centaur, but GW2 decided to revisit the region by placing tons of plot importance all over it.
This became the crash site of the betrayed Zephyrites in the first disruption caused by the rise of Mordremoth in 1327 AE. Humans had already settled here in a sheltered desert village called Prosperity, and they rushed out to help the casualties. The village exists roughly in the same area as the former jungle settlement, Aurora Glade. Prosperity’s main feature was its copper mine. The miners dug deep enough to discover a strong magical flow right under the town, which summoned the student Scarlet Briar in her quest to find a ley line, and in turn the building of Omadd’s Machine in the main ley line channel to the south.
There is a chasm in the wastes in GW1 on top of where that ley line would be found, as if hinting at the massive opening underneath. Vegetation lines the bottom at the point closest to the coursing magic.
“My friends here had ancestors who knew Ventari. They're almost like cousins!”

- Your muse’s name: Mender Thessa
- A favourite picture/face claim of your muse:
Tumblr media
- Two headcanons you have for your muse:
Thessa enchanted a Druid's circle she found in the Heart of the Maguuma, and sought out means to enchant and imbue it with healing magic, such as the waters of the Dry Top Oasis, and motes of power from ruined remains of Dwayna shrines, resulting in a Celestial Form with golden wings.
Thessa's Celestial Form has taken over her glow, once purple, she now shines blue.
- Three things that your muse likes doing in their free time:
She likes talking to people, sharing interests and getting to know them. She likes to make sure that they are happy.
She tends a garden of medicinal plants and herbs, which she uses for teas, poultices and potions. The garden also helps her relax.
She likes to lay out under the night sky on clear nights and look up at the stars, dancing in the moonlight and singing.
- Seven people your muse loves/likes:
Deliah (A fellow mender)
Airia (Her guild master)
Sister Nadya (A human priestess of Dwayna)
Kharaa Riftsealer (a Maguuma Centaur mender)
Azarr Softhoof (A Maguuma Centaur farmer)
Duchana (A Sylvari hermit)
Irrisencia (A Sylvari Firebrand)
- A phobia your muse has: Thessa has abandonment fears and wants to ensure that people like her and that she does her job as a Mender well. She is extremely sensitive, and she deeply fears someone dying under her care.

Harry Potter AU - Nereus

I had a bad time
see, I woke up at 6:30 to go to church, because it’s christmas y’all and what better time to drag my agnostic ass to the crustiest, meh-est house of god in all of Stockholm.
Now I went up early for this. I shall tell you, since tumblr is finally embracing its family friendly, christian values:
• This is an old ladies only space, naturally.
• First psalm and the old lady vibrato is upon us, of course.
• Nothing extraordinary this far.
• Preist starts talking. I zone out till I hear, clear as the day with my baptized christian ears
• ”Gods adoptive son”
• Who?
• Organ player is in a hurry.
• They pause entirely betweet verses, so if you happen to stretch a tone, you will be victim of your voice, alone, resounding in a death silenced church with ppl in it.
• And the preachment.
• T h e p r e a c h m e n t
• Why did this preist choose this line of proffession? We never know.
• What follows is 20 minutes of

Whoever possesses the Great Library of the Underworld rules Hell itself & threatens the destiny of both the Heavens & Earth. The Underworld Library: Hellbrary Book One by Laura BickleFree with Kindle Unlimited https://amzn.to/3du2jXU#DarkFantasy #FantasyBooks #KindleUnlimited Excerpt 3 The Underworld Library by Laura Bickle Azarr’s head crested the waves, and he gasped for oxygen. The river roared around him, now whitewater, with caps of pale foam cresting the brown waves. He could make out the edge of the shoreline, and little else but the dark sky stretching above him. He gasped, thinking that he should swim to shore and find his compatriots… Something grabbed him. Still in the shape of a snake, he wriggled and lashed out to bite, but something—someone—grabbed him just behind his neck, and he was helpless. He was torn away from the sack containing the book, and he found himself staring into the grey eyes of one of the Ker. The Ker smiled with a mouth of serrated teeth. He thought that the Ker meant to eat him, but he was jammed unceremoniously into a large bottle. He writhed within it as the Ker capped it. He hissed and made to change back into a man and break the glass. But he couldn’t change back to the shape of a man. He flopped in the bottle, panicked, as the Ker drew him below the surface of the water. The Ker pulled him down to the quiet floor of the river, where the current did not buffet them. Two more Ker had gathered among the rusty cans, wheels, and bicycles. Maeje sat on one of the bicycles sidesaddle, as if it were a throne. Her hair floated around her head like a cloud, and her eyes glimmered. The Ker handed her the sack and the bottle. Maeje tucked the sack under her arm and gazed at the bottle. She tapped on it with her webbed fingers. “That was a very noble try, little snake. But you must understand, I have my own magic over shape and form.” Her voice was clearer underwater than it had been in air; her gills fluttered, and her mouth sounded as if it was full of bells. “Where are the rest of the people I came with? The librarians?” he demanded, though he knew he was in no position to demand anything of her. “Ah, little pet.” She shook her head, and her hair drifted lazily in the water. “The river has taken them. You shall not see any of them again.”

5/10 - Aerosphere
Tumblr media
(Mickael Forrett)
Chapter 1 by R
The Citadel of Brass has come to visit.
It moors itself on the towers below, keeping the floating orb of a sovereign nation from floating off in to the distant aether. The city below is designed for such, hosting many such aerospheres and serving as a hub to allow traffic to the ground without the need of planes and ships. It is not unique in that regard, just one of many, outfitted so as to increase trade with the denizens of the above.
Of all the visitors, none have been quite like the Citadel of Brass, for there is very little which is comparable to that place. It used to rest in a sea of fire, they say, it still is born with the unimaginable heat, unlike most which keep it at a level temperature for average beings. It is a city where anything imaginable can be found, it is said, except for morality, although those who spread those rumors mistake it with one of the bazaar towns.
Azarre collects rumors of the Citadel, for they make good party favors, cheap trinkets to sell. In truth, it is a place of laws and business, and while these do not line up with the laws of any other place throughout the aether or the ground below they are laws all the same, and heavily enforced. It is amoral, perhaps, but the ideas of humans are never all that respected amongst the city of Jinn and Demons and Dwarves and even mixed-blood such as Azarre.
This town will be ripe with rumors, rich with drink, and full of games and tricks. The blood of demons and fae and men runs through these mixed-blood veins as strong as every other, and that breeds trickster instincts, best played out in a place with laxer laws and naive folk who do not quite know all the ways of races other than their own.
Avarre has no job to claim as one true profession, untrained but highly skilled, having worked from the foundry engines in the Citadel's belly to chef in the Imperial Kitchens (if only for eight eight's days) to gladiator in the public ring to con artist on the streets. Perhaps there will be skills to be learned this town, information worth more than party favor rumors, delights that run deeper than mere tricks on unsuspecting prey.
Unlikely. All the mooring cities bleed the same, after all.

Hobgoblins (Planescape)
Hobgoblins are hopefully a classic that we all love. For me, it comes from three sources. The first is James Jacobs' excellent and highly adaptable adventure, The Red Hand of Doom. The second (unsurprisingly) is the nuanced goblin cultures of Eberron. The third is the Order of the Stick. All three can have a profound impact on the Hobgoblins of Planescape.
Tumblr media
The Red Hand of Doom does this through continuity. It was by far the best of WotC's 3.5 adventure modules, and it introduced the Spawn of Tiamat. It can serve as a cultural touchstone for hobgoblin culture and history if you want to send your game that way.
Tumblr media
Eberron and the Order of the Stick have a less obvious influence, but possibly a more important one. You don't even have to treat either world as being connected to the Great Wheel to feel its impact (indeed, I don't). Despite the friendly rivalry that Keith and Rich have played at since the Great Setting Search, similar feelings about alignment, monster civilizations, and culture are present in their works, especially when it comes to goblinoids. Both Keith and Rich paint goblins and hobgoblins as people.
Keith decoupled alignment from race and made hobgoblins the primary species on Eberron before the rise of humans. Rich went the other direction, maintaining hobgoblin's lawful evil tendencies, but taking care to nuance their culture and depict significant individuals as just that: individuals. Just because hobgoblins are the same race or alignment doesn't mean that they have common motives or goals. Remember these types of deconstructions when using hobgoblins in Planescape. Hobgoblin can and should vary widely, especially if they play a major role in your campaign.
Tumblr media
A Paladin of the Twelve Gods has arrived in Excelsior, but has not received a particularly warm welcome. Ku Bao is a commoner and a hobgoblin to boot. All of her training has been divinely inspired rather than formally taught. Hero-leiges of law and goodness that they may be, some of Excelsior's paladin-lords have had difficulty setting aside their personal biases and accepting Bao as one of their own.
The colony of Ivoryfist may lay between the Gatetowns of Ribcage and Rigus, but it is safer and less vicious than either of those locations. Ivoryfist is the prime location on the Outlands to recruit hobgoblin mercenaries and economists without travelling to the Lower Planes. It also houses vast and detailed histories of the goblinoids on the planes, as the Hobgoblin sages who reside in the Glorious Library are renowned for their thorough and mostly unbiased accounts. Safety is relative, however, as Ivoryfist's politics are cutthroat in the extreme.
Red Hand of Doom has arisen again, but this time invasion is not its primary objective. The soul of High Wyrmlord Azarr Kul has been "reborn" and now seeks to convert all hobgoblins to the worship of Tiamat, which has been met with violent pushback from the Churches of Maglublyet and Hadregash. Most natives to the Upper Planes are content to let the goblinoids fight their three-way war amongst themselves, but some deities see an opportunity to redeem and convert those hobgoblins dissatisfied with the war.
Note: If you don’t read Order of the Stick, you should be. If you didn’t get a chance to back the Kickstarter, make sure you pick up How the Paladin Got His Scar once it goes on sale. It is an awesome bit of background and worldbuilding for all of Azure City.

Red Hand of Doom Campaign Journal - Session 10
(Days 10-11) Present: Minerva (& Nuffkins ), Durk of , Maegwyn , Durin , Teresa (& Cinders ), and Nal .
Summary: Enter DRAGON & RIDER. THE ASSOCIATION reacts with shock and horror. They fight. Exeunt DRAGON. THE ASSOCIATION returns to the city of the SWAMP ELVES. This does not merit a party. They receive RIDING OWLS.
Mighty Deeds:
Buckbeak, the summoned hippogriff, dealt a mighty blow to the black dragon as it tried to escape.
<- Session 9 - Roster - Session 11 ->
Long Form:
Despite the party's preparations, they are ambushed by the black dragon  and goblin rider. The dragon calls upon its innate powers to plunge most of the battlefield into utter darkness. Because of this, most of the details of the fight are obscured. Breath weapons go off, to mixed effect, between evasion and protective abjurations. Nothri summons a hippogriff. Minerva throws out a web spell, and manages to knock the rider into it.
Tumblr media
Eventually, both dragon and rider are heavily injured, the darkness is dispelled, and the goblin is webbed. The goblin surrenders, the dragon attacks it for his betrayal, and then buggers right off, because the Association remains - if not in peak condition - upright and dangerous.
Tumblr media
Interrogation of the goblin ex-dragon rider (Ex-Wyrmlord Saarvith) is fruitful. It becomes more of a conversation than an interrogation, as Saarvith is seemingly sincere in his desire to surrender. He revealed that one of the items - a necklace - looted from the dragon's horde was the Ghostlord's phylactery.
Tumblr media
Saarvith also reveals that the goal of the Red Hand is to retake the Elsir Vale from its human colonists, it originally having been goblin territory. The Red Hand's leadership is a cult in the service of Tiamat, and they are led by High Wyrmlord Azarr Kul. Who is summoning and cultivating more spawn of Tiamat, like the harrowblades/wingslashas/razorwing greenspawn of Tiamat. Kul himself is half blue dragon, half hobgoblin, and a powerful priest of Tiamat.
Saarvith's ex-partner, the black dragon Regiarix (Reggie) clashed with the Lord of Brindol some seventeen years ago. Lord Jharmath drove off Reggie, and took his horde by right of conquest (not that Saarvith used those words exactly). Saarvith made a pact with Reggie to regain Reggie's horde.
All told, the Association returned Saarvith, and the captive lizardfolk to Starsong Hill, and proceeded immediately to bed.
Once refreshed, the Association made lightning strikes against the blockades on the northern roads, dispersing them without undue incident.
At Starsong Hill, inquiries were made concerning the Ghostlord. Before the sinking of Rhest, that city sent envoys to the southern plains. The natives there were druids, taking as their totem the mighty lion. Indeed, they erected a great stone lion to stand guard over the plains. Relations between Rhest and the Lion Clans were good for a time, until knights of Rhest decided to hunt lions. And then the Lion Clan, slaying the Archdruid of the clans at the foot of the stone lion. This was, in retrospect, a Very Bad Idea.
Tumblr media
The southern plains became the Thornwastes, and ghostly lions roamed the streets of Rhest, slaying the knights, their horses, their grooms, their squires, their sergeants, and their families. Oddly enough, the slaughter of the knights of Rhest led to a downturn in the city's fortunes, which ended up with it as the flooded lake/city we all can't stand.
Lindorarta Celleria promises a band of rangers to the defense of Brindol, and provides the Association with giant owls to speed their travels. Saarvith is left the elves' care, with a few words spoken to his captors on his co-operation, and surprising skills at taxidermy and tapestry weaving. The elfbane arrows are given to the care of the temple of Corellon, where they can be disposed of safely.
The Association sets out for Brindol, to touch base with the defense there, and decide their next move...

Book Description:
Whoever possesses the Great Library of the Underworld rules Hell itself…and threatens the destiny of both the Heavens and Earth.
The Great Library contains the most deadly magic tomes penned since the beginning of time. This magic is both wondrous and terrible, kept under lock and key by witch-librarians serving the king of the Underworld.
Eve is one of those faithful librarians. She doesn’t recall her life prior to the Hellbrary, and unlike her fellow Hellbrarians, she has very little magic to speak of. When a dangerous book is stolen, she must recover it with the help of a Gorgon librarian, a hellhound, and a mysterious shapeshifting royal envoy. This daemon, Azarr, has a serpent tongue and the heart of a man – can he be trusted?
King Caldrius’s court has fallen under siege. Caldrius’s cruel son, Ral, has returned from exile with an army to assassinate his father. But his father’s crown alone does not guarantee Ral the throne. He needs the library, and he will take it by force. His ambitions don’t end with the Hellbrary – he means to take Earth and the Heavens beyond.
Eve knows there’s only one way to defeat Ral: they must use the recovered book to awaken the Queen of the Witches. Caldrius imprisoned Viridia millennia ago when she grew too powerful to control. Then, he offered the witches a choice: serve him or die. They served, until now…but will awakening Viridia summon an evil greater than Ral?
Time is running out, and all the forces the Underworld must unite to wage war for the library and control of all of existence.

Excerpt 1.
Azarr was a daemon who enjoyed puzzles.
            And Eve puzzled him.
Eve was enchanting in a way that he hadn’t seen in a very long time, and he had allowed himself the pleasure of being a little bit distracted. He watched the way her sharp, dark eyes absorbed this land, missing nothing, and wondered at the keen mind that rested behind them. Was she a jack of all trades, a reference librarian? Or did she indulge more academic interests, perhaps astronomy? She scanned the skies often enough; perhaps she was an astronomer. Or maybe a botanist, the way she examined the trees sprouting junk…
Her mind certainly worked behind an attractive face. Her lashes were dark and thick, sometimes obscuring where she gazed. Her resting expression was one of wonder, her full lips curving up at the corners, and that charmed him. Mortals rarely smiled in the Underworld, and he marveled that she didn’t seem miserable, and no one was doing anything to correct that.
He shook his head away from his speculations and admirations. He knew better than to allow his imagination to tangle around women who were inappropriate to pursue. She was not the only human woman he’d ever met. Azarr had been around for a very long time, and had met many mortal and immortal women more objectively beautiful than she was.
He’d bedded a few of them, fallen in love once every hundred years or so, but thought of himself fairly self-possessed where women were concerned. He had long thought that being a reptile at heart, that this was simply the way it would go for him, his natural cold-blooded state. But there was something about her that fascinated him.
He didn’t want to admit it to himself, but he was enchanted.
And that was a very dangerous state for a daemon to be in.
