Trick or Treat~!

Pairing: Che'nya x Floyd (could be read platonically or romantically)

Summary: It's finally Halloween night, but Floyd is in a bit of a slump. However, the arrival of a curious companion may just make the Halloween party a bit more interesting for him.

Notes: This is my first attempt at something following a prompt - specifically, "Trick or Treat" for the 2023 TWST Rarepair Halloween event. I'm trying to get more comfortable/practiced with writing prose (which is why this wasn't posted on the 30th... oops), and only vaguely ended up following the prompt. I'm fairly happy with how this little piece turned out, though!

Floyd wanted to take a break. 

It was Halloween, and all he had done the entire week was work, work, work. Getting costumes ready, decorating, helping with their dorm's presentation, plus cooking and serving at the Lounge, all on top of normal classes? 

Sure, it was fun, especially getting to show off Octavinelle's cool setup, and 'taking care of' those misbehaving visitors. But now? Everything felt draining and boring, and Floyd simply wanted to leave, which sucked because the actual Halloween party had just started!  

Maybe he should just ditch and go back to his dorm; being in a funk when everyone else is having fun around you is not enjoyable.  He slumped down on a bench and unwrapped a sweet he had picked up earlier, before wrapping it up again. Ugh, not even in the mood for that candy he wanted only a few minutes ago. 

As he shoved the sweet back into his pocket and was about to get up from the bench to leave, Floyd heard a rustle behind him. Someone was quietly humming, and… laughing? The sound gradually moved to his side, towards the empty side of the bench.  

“Trick or treat~”

Floyd turned to face the voice. "Listen, man, I'm not in the mood to—” he froze, staring at the figure beside him. “Hang on a second, where's your body!?"

A toothy smile came to the face of the head that currently floated beside Floyd. "Oh, it's here.... or maybe it's there." A pair of hands materialized on either side of this boy's head, followed by the rest of his body. 

“I'm just kidding. Mind if I take a seat? I’d like to rest up before I keep purrowling around and startling people.”

Floyd blinked, then raised an eyebrow. “Uh, go for it.” 

This guy was... weird, and it was hard to tell if he'd be annoying, or interesting. "You don't go here, do ya? At least, I’ve never seen you before. And you’re no ghost, either.”

The cat-like boy shook his head, his jewellery jingling softly. "I'm just passing through for the festivities and collecting treats. Scaring some people, too. That’s loads of fun. And it's always nice to see my friends let loose." 

Floyd had a vague memory surface. "Ohh... you must be that RSA boy who's friends with Sea Turtle and Goldfishie." 

"'Sea Turtle' and 'Goldfishie', hey? Those are good names for my green and red friends. Cats are known for liking fish." He leaned forward, his grin growing. “Artemiy Artemiyevich Pinker. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Floyd nodded, “Floyd Leech. It's nice to meet you, too.” He looked curiously at the boy beside him, taking in his shaggy hair, piercings, and impish smile.

"You're not what I expected.” Floyd smiled, "But you seem fun, Catfish. I didn't think Goldfishie would get along with someone so... interesting."

Che'nya's eyes lit up slightly. "Catfish? Heh heh heh, most people call me Che'nya, but I guess that works. And I’ve heard some… interesting stories about you, too."

He stretched his legs out in front of him, leaning back with his arms behind his head as he sighed. "But yeah, I don't think Riddle could shake me if he tried." 

"I'm almost jealous." Floyd tipped his head slightly. "Most of the time, Goldfishie likes to swim away before I can play with him."

Che'nya laughed, "Well, if you're wondering, he 'swam off' that way." He pointed off to the side. “Just don’t be rough with him. I don’t like people mistreating my friends.”

Floyd looked off into the crowd where he had pointed, and let out a small laugh. “Alright, good to know. Maybe I’ll find him later, if I feel like it”, he smiled and sat back. “And Goldfishie’s stronger than he looks, but I guess you’d know that.”

Che’nya nodded, then leaned closer with a mischievous glint in his eye. "You know, I bet we could do something that would really surprise him.” 

Floyd turned slightly towards Che’nya, and flashed a smile. “Yeah, we probably could. I think we should talk more in the future, Catfish. You seem pretty fun.” 

Che’nya grinned, “You seem pretty fun, too.”

"Well,” he stretched his arms above his head. “I think I’m going to go and find some more treats… and play some more tricks tonight. I'll catch you around, Floyd." 

With a haunting giggle echoing in his ears, Floyd watched as the boy beside him faded into nothingness, just the same way he had arrived. 

What a weird guy.

Floyd unwrapped the candy he had pocketed earlier, then popped it into his mouth. Maybe this party was worth staying at after all.

Can we analyse Tulin for a bit?

Apart from being the keet birb boy, perhaps what makes his character so enthralling is how it so brilliantly reflects and offers commentary on the influences that have shaped him.

Whether that be Revali, his father Teba, and ESPECIALLY Link. Hell, it's no wonder that Link & Tulin have garnered such a sibling dynamic. Tulin essentially IS Link, from a time before the burden of responsibility and pain caused Link to cave in on himself pre-Breath of the Wild.

Right down to the veteran warrior father figure (Link's father was captain of the guard) and their acceptance of a newfound legacy out of forthright integrity. Tulin, at this point in his life, has yet to give himself away until there's nothing of him left to give, and let's pray he never needs to.

But Tulin would do that in a heartbeat, if called upon. He is very much his father's son.

You can see it in how archtypical childish spunk is tempered, like steel, by Teba's down-to-earth bluntness and sheer work ethic.

(BTW I wonder if Link sees his own father in Teba? That'd check out.)

But what caught me most pleasantly off-guard is Tulin's skepticism, which has become one of his most compelling traits for me. It's not something you would expect.

He did not believe that the Stormwind Ark existed, and while ultimately proven wrong, it frankly wasn't an illogical assumption to make. Tulin clearly thought through that opinion. He'd also grown frustrated that the Rito placed their faith on a songbook miracle — a eucatastrophe, if you will — instead of something more concrete like personal skill or, say, Link's whole-ass existence.

The second Link arrived and offered his aid, Tulin accepted his help without hesitation. He turned his skepticism inward to reevaluate his own tenets. And it's as a duo that they brought about said eucatastrophe through no one's strength but their own. They are siblings, Your Honor. Aryll 2.0

(If Revali had been blessed with a support network saying "it's okay to accept help. no man is an island," doubtless he still would have perished in Vah Medoh. But there would be less of an ego to shatter. He would have faced death with less blind panic and more dignity. And most importantly, he'd have other people to bolster the wind beneath his wings during his short life. (At the very least, Revali would not have as big an ass not be as big an ass, just as Tulin would be a different person without his family.)

Also, one thing that everyone seems to miss is just how deceptively intelligent Tulin turns out to be. This kid fuckin' knows his stuff. His mastery of aerodynamics beyond the instinctual is almost on par with Revali at such a young age. And how many precision headshots has his avatar saved your ass with, don't lie.

He somehow managed to follow his father back through time. Tulin can see Koroks.

It's not the same kind of passion-fuelled intellect as, say, Zelda has. More of an unyeilding conviction to learn all he can and put it into practice. About as understated a quality as Yunobo's inexplicable business acumen and economic sense.

As his mother Saki put it, for Tulin to develop as an individual, he needs to experience more of reality and its hardships. Shooting bullseyes and improving one's flying prowess / wind magic can't contend with genuine combat. True to her word, Tulin had to experience mistakes firsthand, and critically examine his own naïve ways of thinking in order to take those necessary steps.

So then, uh, is it wrong for me to wish something horrible upon him, if only to witness the positive character growth that springs from it? Tulin isn't the sort who'll shatter under pressure, like Revali did at the end of his life, or like Link did under the weight of expectation. Buckle, yes — but not break. Tulin's steadfast conviction, inherited from his father and guided by the people he loves, would assuredly see him through.

In any event, his Hero's Journey isn't close to over. I'd be curious to see Tulin at its conclusion.

I feel like iruma has accidentally called certain teachers/demons mom/dad, like kalego, baal, and both of his friend's mom's

Ok im not sure whether you mean like that's something he'd totally do or that's something that has already canonically happened (which im pretty sure id know of if he canonically called someone mom or dad i would die)

But anyway this is something i can see happen cause iruma is literally collecting patental figures like they're pokemons, and he'd be so fucking flustered and embarrassed he wont be able to look anyone in the eye for a month. But! Who would he call his mom/dad first?

Now listen, im just gonna skim over opera cause they're nonbinary and accidentally slipping would mean to misgender? them and i dont want that. Or maybe opera doesn't care but im not taking any chances, but feel free to tell me any hc you have for our resident cat! Or anyone really i love reading headcanons

So, after recent events, and against every bet the babyl staff may or may not have had, i think he'd first slip up in front of amaryllis, azz's mom. Why? Other than the fact that she would be merciless when teasing him and i enjoy iruma's suffering, just look at what happened in chapter 297 and literally every other interaction between them, giving him advice and dressing him up and being overall affectionate with him like he's her own son. She's every bit the mother his egg donor could never dream of being! And the teasing would be out of this world. No one else will tease him like this queen

Now, the one who's got the most bets placed on (There's no way they dont have a bet on this ok?) Our dear grumpy birb, to the delight of dali and mortification of iruma, kalego! This is very much self explanatory, but what would be his reaction? He'd freeze up because Nope nope nope he's not ready to be a father he's not ready to be IRUMA’S father nopenopenope and then he'd go. Doesn't matter whether it's the middle of the class or he's walking off a cliff he is removing himself from this before opera somehow finds out. He is not going to be a part of this family he is not dealing with this he is Not Blushing fuck of Shichirou! (Everyone somehow finds out and my lord does kalego get teased. Iruma just wants to skip school until he forgets this ever happens (he never will) but his grades aren't that great so he can't TvT)

I want him to call balam dad. No, i want the whole class to call balam dad. The guy needs to be loved. He deserves all the happiness in the world. And yes, it'd be kinda embarrassing, but! The kids are teasing him! This means that they're comfortable around him!! Seriously i love balam so much he very much does not deserve being feared as much as he is

Now, for the ultimate embarrassment, the one who'll laugh their ass off and will not hold back in teasing the poor boy, the one who iruma cant hide from, Arikled. Ali-san is total dad energy, no one can convince me otherwise. And iruma will literally want to die cause he's Arikled. Why did he have to call Arikled out of literally everybody else dad

Can I just say I love the event? 🥺 It's soothing my little aching rhythm gaming heart (especially after the closure of the Love Live games 😭)

Got sooooo distracted the first time playing the event minigame... Because I wanted to watch the little chibis (#_<-) missed out on a lot of beats. But good thing it's not attempt restricted~

Love that they made new plushies to tie in with this event. With daily attempts! The random events that pop up do be cute and hilarious as well ✪ ω ✪ can't wait to see how the event story goes

Two Moon Knight Headcanons for Pesach…

As we prepare to sit down for the second night Seder, as we prepare to dip our karpas in salt water and eat charoset and maror, here are two Moon Knight headcanons, one sweet and one bitter. These are in remembrance of tears and sweat and blood, but also in celebration of the freedom from the “Pharaohs” that hold us captive…

1st Pesach headcanon:

This Seder takes place a few years after the events in 2025 (Jewish year 5785). The MK System have had more time for system communication, and Jake starts reaching out to them. They're celebrating Pesach, all crowding near the front. And this night (unfortunately the same as most other nights), Khonshu shows up unannounced and uninvited. So predictable. After all, he's a "I am feel uncomfortable when we are not about me" kind of birb.

Pesach celebrates the Jewish people's escape from slavery in Egypt. And Khonshu is, of course, an Egyptian deity, still holding a Jewish system captive.

The irony is not lost on Steven.

So the MK System are reclining at the Pesach table. Layla's there too. Steven is reading from the Haggadah, and they get to the recitation of the 10 Plagues.

Steven starts listing off the Plagues, placing a drop of wine on the plate for each to remember the suffering of the Egyptian people, and as he does, he makes full eye contact with Khonshu.

“Water turning to blood ... frogs ... lice ... wild beasts ... pestilence of the livestock…”

And Khonshu starts feeling increasingly uncomfortable.

Finally, Steven gets to the plague of "boils" and Khonshu has had enough. He gets up from the table and makes some moon-related excuse (since of course Pesach starts on a full moon). Then he gets really tiny, and woosh! He just nopes right out of there. Layla and Steven breathe a sigh of relief, while Marc and Jake can relax a little. There will be more than enough time for Khonshu’s shenanigans after Pesach is over.

2nd Pesach headcanon:

This headcanon is from their childhood. It seems likely that Steven was around for a lot of their Hebrew studies. The extreme cognitive and emotional dissonance of having to pretend to be a "good Jewish boy" from a good family in Hebrew school was not safe for Marc or Jake. Plus, Steven was always interested in historical languages, and so whenever they're in a Jewish context like at Shabbat service or Hebrew school, or celebrating some semblance of a Jewish holiday at home, Steven is often triggered front.

But one Pesach, Steven isn't out. It isn't safe. Wendy has been trying to keep up appearances, making some attempt at kashering the kitchen. But this year, it's just led to more screaming. It's the last year that she even attempts to prepare for Pesach.

Then in a last ditch effort to salvage the holiday, Elias reaches out to a cousin, and they get invited over for the Seder.

This tía and tío don’t know the extent of what goes on in the Spector house. But the tía welcomes them in, and she is kind to Jake. He doesn’t even mind that she calls him Marc. It’s enough to have a place that is safe from the yelling.

The MK System are maybe thirteen or fourteen at this point. And since the tía's children are all older, in their late teens, she asks "Marc" as the youngest child to ask the Four Questions.

But Jake is fronting today. And Jake doesn't know Hebrew. (That's Steven's thing.)

The Haggadah has a Hebrew transliteration, but even with that, Jake stumbles through. He tries his best to wrap his tongue around the unfamiliar words.

Jake begins by asking the question:

Mah nishtanah halailah hazeh mikol haleilot?

(How is this night different from all other nights?)

Then he asks the Four Questions:

1. Sheb'chol haleilot anu ochlin chametz umatzah, halailah hazeh, kuloh matzah.

(On all other nights, we eat leavened foods and matzah. Why on this night, only matzah?)

2. Sheb'chol haleilot anu ochlin sh'ar y'rakot, halailah hazeh, maror.

(On all other nights, we eat all vegetables. Why, on this night, bitter herbs?)

3. Sheb'chol haleilot ein anu matbilin afilu pa'am echat; halailah hazeh, sh'tei f'amim.

(On all other nights, we don't dip our food even once. Why on this night do we dip twice?)

4. Sheb'chol haleilot anu ochlin bein yoshvin uvein m'subin; halailah hazeh, kulanu m'subin.

(On all other nights, we eat either sitting upright or reclining. Why on this night do we all recline?)

Jake stammers, and repeats words, and tries his best to dig into the memories that he knows are there somewhere. The memories of ... someone learning this at shul. Even though his memory of their Hebrew school is so hazy. It’s just disjointed images, and the remembrance of muffled voices as if he’s underwater, as someone else goes through the motions of studying. But he’s always watchful, in case one of the bullies in class starts making fun of their rumpled clothes and mess of unkempt curls, and the way that they quietly rock in their chair and fiddle with the cuffs of their shirtsleeves. Jake is great at making escapes from bullies and finding places to hide ... and when push comes to shove, his arms and legs are proficient at punching, kicking, thrashing...

Right now, Jake wants to run and hide. He is terrified that he's messed up. He’s terrified that the tía is going to yell at him. Or worse, that Wendy is going to start in on him. The expectation is clearly that he should be able to pronounce the Hebrew words fluently.

But to his surprise, the tía tells him, "Thank you, Marc. Good job." And she smiles at him.

That little gesture of kindness makes him want to cling to her. To beg her to stay at her home, at least for that night. He dreads going back. Wendy looks displeased with his performance, and Elias looks worried, and Jake is sure he's going to hear about it when they get back to the house.

But for those few hours celebrating the Jewish people's escape from slavery, Jake feels relatively safe. His tía and tío will protect him while he's a guest in their home.

That night, Jake realizes something profound. He realizes that Wendy is his Pharaoh.

At Pesach, we Jews are often asked to think about who is the "Pharaoh" in our life. Who or what is it that is keeping us trapped? And what are some ways to break those chains that bind?

Jake understands that Wendy is the one keeping him in chains. And in that moment, like Moses, he starts looking for ways to escape captivity. There's got to be a way out, a Red Sea that will part for him. On that night, Jake starts making plans for extraction.

Throughout their life, I imagine that Pesach would resonate with Jake. And it is not a decision he takes lightly to stay bound to Khonshu after Marc and Steven are freed. It's for their protection, but at what cost? The bonds of servitude are never worth it. And Jake knows that at some point, he's going to have to start making extraction plans again.

25. What is your favorite thing about your OC?

Oof, this is going to be a long one. You did ask for an info dump, here I go. Writing it down, I'm seeing a pattern with my main OCs :/

Ly'rill (The OG)

- Design wise, the markings that she has now. Something that pop into my brain that went, "What if her markings are like Ammy from Okami? Like, only the ones who have true faith in beings like her can see her markings."

- They're hot-headed despite her looking calm, let's just say it took practice to mask their anger and when they need to release that pent up anger, she'll go to her domain and burn shit. Sometimes, Cathrin is more than happy to be in her line of sight (these two are horny for each other and her logic brain goes out the window, "Angry tiny woman who can incinerate her into non-existence hot.")

Astrel (birb)

- Her feather slowly gaining its color (I wont elaborate too much because it's still tbd). Notice that before I drew her with dark hair/feathers and now she had red stripes, yeahhhh. She used to colorful feathers before trauma happened when she was very young

- She can easily change a topic about herself to something else, and she's a great liar if she wants to. But, she does have trouble lying to people who she cares and has a genuine heart.

Quinn (bread boi)

- He's a fairly new addition, so I don't have much info on him except he bakes and really, what more can I add than this.

Cathrin (dont judge me)

- Werepyre (werewolf + vampire hybrid) monster buff lady :D

Vyrll (main WoL)

These are ffxiv OC that I might elaborate more in the future idk

Azrel + Kena (Astrel's moms)

- Like Astrel, their feathers and actual harpy form. Typical love birds

- They really love their daughter, that if anything happens to her, they will kill anyone who stands in their way or are involved in hurting their daughter.

- Was taken by the Garleans and experimented on due to her unique heritage (half au'ra)

- Took years for her to escape, due to the chance the calamity event gave

- She had a family (a wife, and twins) that she tries to go back to, but due to her lost identity and having no gils, well shes stuck in Eorzea and doing odd jobs to save up, then fate comes with its bs.

Kriv Xeran (bona fide hrothgal)

- Vyrll's wife and known local blacksmith of their village

- Still in the work since shes new

Rashomon & Riddles

Let’s try to simplify this one. Wano is framed as this Kabuki revue. Before the curtains open, we’ll have a prelude from a beloved old face to set the tone. After the curtains finally close for the end and we’ve had a little coda for our main characters, he’ll play us out as the transition to our next adventure. The midpoint between those will see him showing up in the story, organically woven in through a tie astute fans were expecting long before the Land of Samurai. 

That midpoint also happens to coincide with the story doing something interesting with the other half of the local pair Marco’s tied to. Kiku & Yamato will factor into this again, but I want to keep it more general and about Marco. What I think he’s going to do with that just serving as the best clue what it’ll flow out of. Especially since we just had to add in Ryokugyu and the caste themes again didn’t we. What I care about is more that the Noh trio exist alongside this.

Let’s talk Oda the film buff again, this one’s been a long time coming. Well class, who knows this one? One of legendary samurai flick director Akira Kurosawa’s most famous works. Rashomon. A tale about investigating a murder. It’s more famous for something you’ve probably seen at some point. (My favorite is the KotH Firefighter episode) The narrative structure it’s credited with creating, though the film was based on an older novel that did the same. What makes Rashomon cool is it’s the story of three different perspectives on the same event. The point of the movie is in the contrasts, trying to grasp at who’s trustworthy. It’s not exactly obvious. The three witnesses are all liars protecting their own image.

I’ve long wondered if we were doing a Rashomon thing in this love letter to jidaigeki. Our trio are the Noh actors. Kiku, Hiyori, Yamato. It’s their perspective on Oden and Wano’s glory days. Kiku was the type of person stifled by old Wano who’s well primed for a future she was thrust into. Hiyori a product of old Wano that endured, but one young enough she didn’t have a full picture of the past. Yamato one who’s enamored by the legacy and myth. 

So who’s Marco then? What I’m seeing is the fourth tale, the account of the woodcutter who serves as part of the framing device. Rashomon is a story about a peasant, a woodcutter, and a priest talking about a scandalous recent occurrence as they wait out a storm. The stories were the murderer, the victim’s wife, and the dead samurai through a medium as part of the trial. But the Woodcutter after the matter is settled offered up the “real” tale. One that made everyone involved seem absolutely silly. Oh, and there was this little hidden thread about a dagger that led to revealing the Woodcutter was there, but didn’t want to testify because he stole a valuable trinket!

All that to say, this is why I’m interested in Marco. If he just opened and closed the “play” with his arrival falling in the middle, that’s cool. But Wano ended on a weird note, Egghead has kept certain core themes alive and they’re raging around an element that left off on a very strange note. All while our main story hints at a very big, sharp twist. In this kishotenketsu structure, part 3 or ten should feel jarring. A shift in tone, setting, and/or characters. Doing that for this arc this way is a great route to take wrapping up this segment of the big picture. My hope is that we play with something like Rashomon to set up the conclusion to this dramatic turn. Dig back into this key figure’s perspective to lay the foundation for a wrinkle that will make a conclusion that wouldn’t make sense now seem like the only thing that could have happened.

When you have all of that, it just makes the “Sphinx” association seem a little more compelling too. Let’s crack this riddle Birb Boi!

Ty Menace for having the ask event. It really got me through the long day I had (not bad just long). Seeing others’ asks and the responses rejuvenate my pondering gears. Now it is time for you to pamper yourself and rejuvenate yourself! How you managed to answer so many with the different perspectives of each guy, is beyond me.

Here is this weeks analysis!!! Also, sorry if I sent this twice, but it didn’t show the little message it usually does when it gets sent so I wanted to make sure you got it.

I’ve got a good theory that all the pictures are connected to the same event but it’s different stages of the event. Said even is a giant get together/ reunion or party of some sort with Birb’s family. And I’m guessing that they are visiting Birb’s family because of the 2 little sneak peeks that you gave us.

The meme about making tamales is probably about Birb helping Abuela/Abuelita (I kinda forgot which one is used to I did both) make tamales for the bonfire/ party. Or it could be about all the family helping her out. Its the prep for the party that possibly happens as soon as Birb and Wednesday get there.

The violin/fiddle picture has me coming up with a few. Like Birb is the one playing and has hidden it from Wednesday just to fuck with her. Or it’s someone else in the family playing it. Another could be it’s just the music that is being played at the party which is the next step.

The actual bonfire picture takes place after all the music and goes 2 ways. Maybe the younger kids have gone to bed so its’s the older generation/ elders (plus Wednesday and Birb) hanging around and talking. Second route is that it’s just the big ass bonfire and Birb is helping the little ones put marshmallows on sticks to make s’mores.

Now the picture of the dude sleeping on the couch kinda threw me off cause it could be a few things. First it could be before the whole party and Birb is passed out on the couch from playing with her other siblings all day or the jet leg (if they fly but that’s a big ‘if’) The second thing it could be is that it’s one of the older kids, one of the boys, sleeping on the couch when Birb is there and she pranks him or something. All these are before the party.

The third thing it could be is that it’s after the party and it’s Birb, utterly exhausted, passed out on the couch. And again, it could be one of the other older boys asleep on the couch after the party and Birb is gone mess with him.

It can’t be Wednesday because the position the dude in the picture is sleeping in. And I’m guessing it could be one of the boys because it’s a dude in the picture so you could be trying to be literal or it’s Birb and you are either throwing us off or couldn’t find a different picture for that.

Anyway, this weeks analysis was quicker because these pictures are pretty straight(not me 🤣) forward to interpret if you add in the sneak peeks you gave us. I can’t wait for the new chapter to come out!!!

Saph uses he/xe/it/they while Verde is Xe/they.

Saph despite being taller and looking older is the youngest sibling at age 14 while Verde is the oldest child at 15.

Their parents are Kites and they were pushed to choose a faction other than Kites by their family.

If I fully decide to give them two more siblings there woudl be a sibling in every faction(family gatherings are a chaotic event)

Both actually have wings! They just hide em for reasons.

(In context of Hyman Cruppy) Verde thinks Owen is Cruppy’s guardian as xe see Owen watching Cruppy most of the time. Saph knows Owens stuck on babysitter duty.

AND THE BEST ONE EVER !!! I met one of my favorite ccs ever (๑>◡<๑) miss companion dish was there with merch she brought with her and oh god she's so pretty irl. My brain stopped functioning and idek how I was speaking to her and I forgot everything I was supposed to say and oh god shes real ???? Like she was in front of me, talking to me, and conversing with me. And tuonto was there too with a bunch of other ccs that I love and I heard them speaking and I was like wow ??? Im hearing this irl likee right now??? Im not dreaming???

I swear I was about to combust right then and there but yes. TLDR: My first day of conquest was just amazing and so very stimulating to my noggin, was almosy very overwhelmed at one point but all is good ^-^

I’m not not completely sure on which of the seven (tho actually 10 important gods in total) should be alive during the actual plot.

Obv Michaela/owl lady is alive, she’s the one that betrayed everyone. So is Lucifer/crow boi as one of the main secondary characters, Gabriel/as the mc, and Raziel/raven boi as another important side character.

As for the one I’m sure should be dead that would be Chamuel/eagle boi as he was the old ruler before Michaela took over.

Everyone else is 50/50 tho

The remaining undecided ones would be:

Ariel/crane lady - the engineer responsible for the achievement of making the country of Eden into a large floating island and other technological stuff, main power of telekinesis. Haven’t actually developed her background nor a concrete personality yet as not quite sure which one to go with for her, but I think I’d want her to lean more on the nicer and humane side (like Azrael) compared to the rest of the birbs

Raphael/peacock boi - husband of Chamuel and with the main power of controlling diseases (bacterial, viral and fungi) so essentially a doctor disguised as a bioweapon, I feel like going for a personality similar to Hera for him (hence the peacock)

Azrael/vulture boi - younger brother of Michaela and son of Chamuel+Raphael with the main power of healing/repairing tissue, thus also a doctor but primarily known as the mortician that aids with fixing bodies for funerals, going for more of an Ares (asshole exterior and sweetheart inside) with this boi and having his relationship with Michaela be something like Athena and Ares would have

Metatron/ibis boi - essentially want to make him be like Thoth, main power of looking into the events that have happened in the past in a given place, and as well as the ‘memories/experiences’ of an object. Can also enter the mind to look into the past memories of people. However, when he spends time in these memories, his physical body is very vulnerable and unresponsive in this state. Mans the library where every single knowledge the birb bois have obtained is stored

Jophiel/swan lady - main power of knowing whatever it is that someone desires the most and as well as what they want to do/wish for in a given moment, (contrast to Raziel having the power to know a person’s fears) and as another contrast to Raziel, while Raziel runs illegal business but is himself a kind and understanding businessman, Jophiel runs legal businesses but is a lot more cutthroat in her business (and a more cruel/strict person in general)

And yes Raphael and Chamuel adopted Azrael and Michaela, where they found em? Idk yet

(And while I like to call these 10 bois ‘the seven’ even tho 10 not equal 7 is cause: Garbiel and Raziel just aren’t considered part as they treat Gabriel more like an important minor god and don’t acknowledge Raziel cause he deals with ‘underground/illegal/shady’ things. Chumuel isn’t considered part because he’s on a whole different league entirely/they considered him the no. 0 of the seven; also I just really like the number 7)

Kinda HC that Azems source shard dies during/before each calamity, and they played some pivotal role in either bringing it about or trying to prevent it. MSQ would be a series of echo visions going through the events leading up to each death, and what happened after. I'd probably call it Shardbound, to bring it full circle back to my wols name weh also cuz that's just been the theme of her story, even back when arr dropped (though rip, yet another SB acronym lmao) so you'd go from the first all the way to the 6th or 7th calamity (not sure about 7 cuz that'd just be 1.0 lmao)

Although I do have a hm what if about like, what if azems shard was born as a (pre-empire) garlean, and that was the reason emet-selch decided to become solus and marry them for angst reasons. Then when the shard died it would be the Tragedy that got Emet-Selch to give up on humanity (again), and hed authorize the research that led to the 7th calamity

I gave Yuki the Big Tail and I like to imagine it is large like a croc's, also she does the water float thing. She rumbles like a croc too

Crystal hisses and has folding fangs like a snake, and her scales are small and cover a lot of her body so she can shed them in one big pull

Also HC that au ra spend only part of their pre-natal time as a pregnancy, and about halfway through they come out as an egg. This way the mother doesn't have to risk birthing a gigantic baby boy or deal with horn nubs. You can tell when they're about to Lay because they start to get nesting instinct, and crave foods that give them a lot of calcium. Yuki has her egg and gets the Ironworks to build a portable crystal-powered incubator, and it looks like those travel backpacks for cats

12. Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you?

Honestly? Angst and Hurt/Comfort. I used to avoid anything painful like the plague because I can't stand anything that doesn't have a happy ending. But in the past five years or so I've come to really appreciate a good bit of angst. There has to be balance, of course, but when it is balanced it makes the hurt hit harder and the comfort so much sweeter.

I still have a hard time with bad endings and permanent character death, because I still need that positive closure at the end of a journey, but - well. For anyone who's read my stories, you all know I've definitely taken a liking to emotional turmoil, haven't I? xD Just know my fics will ALWAYS have a happy ending! I'm incapable of writing any other way! <3

(Also some of the more animal-based traits that a lot of MCYT characters have. I used to think that kind of thing was weird when I was younger, but I've read so many stories since then with non-human characters that the hybrid players of the MCYT 'verses are basically normal to me. Give me birb boys and moss creatures any day of the week!)

17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?

Buckle up, because there are two and I'm a wordy bitch when I get excited about a story idea. One of them is Marvel, which might not be your cup of tea, but I'm rambling about it anyway. (If you want to skip it, there's also MCYT rambles below this one lol.)

Stark Boys AU | This one scratches the ol' Iron Dad itch that I don't think I'll ever get rid of. A Marvel buddy of mine and I created this entire AU over the course of a few months last year(?), in which Tony happens to meet the Parkers not long after the events of IM1. Peter is still just Peter instead of Spider-Man because he's so young at this point. He's a genius of a kid who's still processing the loss of his parents. For multiple reasons, Tony and the Parkers end up keeping in touch, and as the years go by Tony becomes a father figure for Peter. (Because of this he ends up taking better care of himself sooner and a lot of things change a little in the timeline, but that's beside the point.) When he meets Harley Keener in IM3, Tony figures out that the kid's practically an orphan. After having Peter in his life for so long the logical next step - of course - is to adopt this Harley kid who's got the same spark of genius Peter has and is close to Peter in age. They two end up growing up as something akin to brothers, with Peter living with the Parkers and Harley living with the Starks and both of them spending weekends together at one home or the other. This means both boys (and May and Ben) are part of the story through all the Avengers films, which changes things in a lot of interesting ways. Peter shows up in Siberia in Civil War, Harley starts work on his own suit like Tony's, there's this running joke that they claim they're twins when they're not. Harley crushes on, dates, breaks up with, then forges a lifelong rivalry with Harry Osborn, which lasts all the way through college. There's a whole thing with Peter coming back after the snap and the blip as a kid instead of a teen, which is just - my favorite thing. This AU also inspired a bunch of SPINOFF AU's - SB Mafia AU, a Parent Trap AU where Harley and Peter are actually twins, an SB Hogwarts AU with Flash as a rival-turned-friend, a Supernatural AU where Richard Parker and the Starks were Men of Letters and where May and Ben run a roadhouse for Hunters - so this, uh. This story and its extensions live rent free in my head. I've never listened to The Pheonix by Fall Out Boy without thinking of it.

BUT BACK TO MCYT

2. Traffic Life Witch & Familiar AU | I've talked in depth about this one over on this post, but I freaking adore this concept. Witches and Familiars is a trope I love in every universe. I think I found it first through Supernatural (and started writing a fic for but never finished, oop) and the whole idea is soooo good. And with the concept of witch/familiar bonds that I've seen in numerous works, it parallels so well with the soulbond mechanic from Double Life. If people want it I'd gladly write it, it just wouldn't be in a chapter-fic form and it probably would be at the bottom of the list until some of my other MCYT fics are finished xD Lord knows I have a lot I'm working on already!

3. (And here, a secret third thing, but spoilers for recent DSMP lore: I made a joke post about it the other day, but remember how I mentioned in another ask that I love the Hermit!Tommyinnit trope? Well forget the old “Tommy somehow ends up on Hermitcraft during exile” trope, how about “Tommy somehow ends up on Hermitcraft after the DSMP gets nuked but everyone is still trapped on Empires so it’s sort of a ghost town except for like five people and one (1) traumatized and potion addicted teen”? Like - it would be an absolute catastrophe and I love it. The only people left on Hermitcraft right now are, to my knowledge, Hypno, XB, Beef, and Wels. Etho is somewhere and Mumbo is still on hiatus, so Tommy just - appearing in a near-empty server with four people who would have no idea how to deal with a traumatized and chaotic teen? Absolutely glorious. And then Mumbo would come back and be the most capable man in the room because he deals with Grian on a daily basis, and that's a stretch. Hypno would be the only one present with admin status. So Xisuma and Grian and the rest come back and the server is just on fire because nobody knows what to do about the new intruder who probably just really needs sleep and a hug, and - glorious, glorious chaos. <3)

OH AND SOMEONE SHOULD DO AN EMPIRES AND HERMITCRAFT SWAP where the Hermits each have their own Empire and the Empires crew are the ones who live in a chaotic world of RP shenanigans. Or maybe like, a partial cast swap because lord knows there are so many more Hermits by comparison. Nether Prince Tangoooo my beloved.
