★ Penelope was happy being poor, alone, and without any ounce of weight to her name. She was alright with being “Penny Tyler” the girl with a muggle father who left when she was six, a borderline alcoholic witch for a mother who tried her best to give Penny everything she needed to be successful in life, and one or two friends at London School who were there when she needed them, but never suffocated her. She was okay being the girl that no one knew existed, or cared about if they did. In fact, she almost loved that fact. She didn’t have to talk in class, she didn’t need to act like a good friend or pretend that she cared about other people. Everything seemed, for once, to be going alright. Then, of course, her mom fell in love (or so she claimed).

★ Augustine Nott came from a long line of pureblood wizards, and with that came a lot of gold and a big reputation, one that her mother was more than happy to become a part of. Parties every weekend and fancy gifts delivered to their dilapidated doorstep; those were the things that Mrs. Tyler lived for, and suddenly they were all hers. The wedding was fast, unexpected, and huge -- married in June of 1974. The gossip that followed it was even bigger. Penny’s mother was nothing to the pureblood family that Augustine came from; she was trash, and by association so was Penny. Nevermind that she didn’t want to live in his lavish house with his House Elf and seven bedrooms and four and a half baths. She was her mother’s daughter, and she was going to be known for it. She had a name to uphold now, there were people (her peers) that she had to socialize with and parties she had to attend, and no matter how much she wished that going to Hogwarts for her 1st year would change that, she found out it only got worse.

★ Silas Nott entered the world at only 6lbs 6oz a year after the wedding. Yet the tiniest of things, make the largest impacts. The maddening part about it all was, Penny never wanted any part of it, yet it was clear, when it came to her new baby brother, she was the person who cared the most. And being away at Hogwarts, away from him, and knowing the care that he was in (trust her, she’d grown up with Vera Tyler as a mother herself), only added to the stress. It led to outbursts in lessons, physical altercations with other students in the corridors, and a foul mouth on the quidditch pitch. Penny was kicked from the quidditch team -- one she even captained as a Seeker. But that was the only consequence she ever faced among all the incidents in her years at Hogwarts. She hated the privilege her name brought, but at least she didn’t have to kiss away her dreams of being an Auror. Penny’s currently in her last year of the Auror Academy. And while her dreams are soon to come true, she has more goals now. In her heart, she knows the influence Silas was under could forever change him. Her endgame was to have custody of him. No matter what it took.

★ It was undeniable that Penny took after her mother, the way she fell quick, hard, and deep for a wizard. Ten years her senior, Andrew Porter worked tirelessly as a well trained Hit Wizard. They’d met as soon as Penny entered the academy. It even being on her very first day had her thinking, perhaps fate did exist, and they weren’t all aimlessly wandering about. They were engaged only three months later, with a rushed wedding following everything else. But to Penny, this wasn’t rushing. This was love and why would she wait for love? But this romance was a whirlwind for a reason. The first year -- marital bliss. Nothing but surprise dates, apartment shopping, and they even got a dog together. The second year, things began to fizzle out. But, that’s what Penny had expected. That’s what she’d been taught her whole life, watching her mother go through men. The excitement wore off as you entered the “normal stage”. But what about arguing every week, sleeping in different beds, and deciding to work overtime was normal?

★ She’d learned he’d lied about a few things since meeting -- all to make himself seem... superior. Did this man have a God complex? Was this relationship only feeding his ego? At times, it’s all it felt like, when she wasn’t being made to feel crazy. There was nothing but a sense of false security and though Penny did not quit a thing in her life, she had to escape. This was not setting any better example for Silas, after all. And wasn’t her baby brother the priority in her life? Penny had wasted so much of herself admiring this man, for nothing in return. He hadn’t helped build up Penny’s self-love, not once, and it was as soon as she realized that, did she file for divorce finally. This was in November of 1979 and while the divorce isn’t yet finalized, Penny is out of their house and has avoided all contact with him since. Recently, she’s couch surfing with her dog as she searches for a new place to live and trying to find a sense of purpose again.

Bless Me With Your OTP - Mary/Nines

tagged by the ever wonderful @radbeetle! I think my vamp bbs are the only ones that haven’t gotten OTP prompt love so I’ll be doing it for these two. ;) Spoilerish for Half Light chapters I haven’t written yet I guess lmao tagging @gohnnyjuitar, @courier-sux, @comrade-shrimp and @mitsybubbles (and anyone else who wants to do this!)

Do they fight often? If so, what is their dynamic like?

It’s not a frequent occurrence, but it happens. Mary prioritizes safety and subtlety and isn’t the type to take risks, Nines is willing to be reckless when required and it’s a point of contention between them. Usually they’re able to reach a compromise, but when finding one is impossible things devolve into a full fight. Mary’s the type to yell when angry, Nines’ anger runs cold - she’ll get up in his face and he’ll remain stationary. They tend to back off and accept whatever argument is most realistic after they argue their case, but in the very rare instance neither will budge they’ll leave each others’ company and fume on their own for a little while. They return to each other soon enough, the isolation a reminder of what their priorities should really be.

Who is the most skeptical of the two?

Nines by a long shot. He’s got a few decades of experience as Kindred on Mary, and his realm of expertise (to his chagrin) is dealing in politics. He’s very aware that taking things at face value can be a death sentence - he doesn’t try to impress that on Mary, however, as he’s fond of her more optimistic nature and having a different perspective is often essential.

Who would be most likely to suggest a night of dancing?

Neither - even after Mary’s got Mask of a Thousand Faces mastered, she’s not fond of crowds and while Nines is more in touch with his humanity than others would be in his position, getting that close can be dangerous. Not to mention that the type of dancing done in the modern nights isn’t really his style. When it comes to a night of fun in general, though, Mary’s most likely to bring up the idea. Nines is a serious guy and won’t give himself much needed leisure time if she’s not the one hauling him out.

What would they do if the other was injured in battle?

this totally happens in a point of fic i have not published yet

Being Kindred pain and injury is a part of unlife, and even lost limbs can be regenerated. Both of them are used to violence and cope with the aftermath pretty well - but serious injury mid-battle is a different matter. A foe facing the two of them fighting together is already in a decent amount of trouble, but managing to injure one of them to the point of edging on death is a guaranteed frenzy for the other. Which is usually bad news for whoever they’re fighting.

There is one difficulty when it comes to near-lethal injuries - both are unwilling to let the other feed off of them even in dire circumstances due to the whole blood-bond thing. Both would rather die than risk having the other lose their free will.

How do their fighting styles complement each other?

Nines is a jack of all trades when it comes to combat - part and parcel with a Brujah and Anarch to boot. Mary’s unable to wield guns well due to her claws, but is pretty vicious with them to make up for it. Usually Nines runs bait and distraction with firearms, giving Mary an opening to sneak up on a foe and tear them apart where they’re weakest. Against large amounts of weaker opponents, the two take the steamroller approach - Mary shreds them and Nines puts them out of their misery while dealing with any stragglers.

Do they want children? Does it frighten them? How many do they want?

Ignoring the whole Kindred can’t have biological kids thing, when it comes to siring childer and bringing a few more vampires into the world - absolutely not. Again, both value free will and the innate blood bond between Sire and Childe is unsettling to the two of them. For Mary especially it’s out of the question - being Nosferatu is incredibly difficult and condemning anyone to that fate isn’t something she’d be capable of doing even if it was a matter of life or death.

What happened when they took them home to their families? If their families aren’t in the picture anymore, how do they feel about it?

Both of their families aren’t in the picture anymore - Nines’ thanks to time and poverty, Mary’s by her own hand. In unlife the closest thing Nines has to family are the Anarchs and the closest thing Mary has is the Nosferatu clean.

Damsel and Skelter had a healthy dose of skepticism thanks to her seeming to have no issue in running errands for LaCroix. The Nosferatu thing didn’t help much, and the Blood Hunt really didn’t help. Through her own effort Mary managed to earn some grudging respect. Neither ever find out about Mary and Nines’ past, but Skelter suspects something’s going on between them after LaCroix’s fall.

As for the Nosferatu - Gary finds the entire thing hysterical and a very juicy bit of information to hold onto. Bertram is happy to have some blackmail material given that Mary’s aware of his relationship with Jeanette. Mitnick doesn’t really understand the point of relationships when you’re Kindred and doesn’t have an opinion in the matter.

How does each person show affection towards the other?

Mary’s got nasty sharp little teeth, shoulder spikes, and is just generally kind of gross. It doesn’t bother Nines (he’s seen a lot worse than her) but it has her really spooked when it comes to physical contact in a romantic context unless her emotions are overwhelming. Not to mention that any PDA is dangerous - giving any unwanted eyes the idea that they’re important to each other makes them vulnerable to power plays by outside forces.

Most of their affection is expressed in deeds - accompanying the other in their work, going out of their way to make things safer or easier for the other, et cetera. Total Acts of Service love language. It’s subtler. If they’re feeling brave they might lean against the other.

The rare times they’re able to express physical affection, holding hands and embraces are most common. Touching foreheads is their equivalent of a kiss, given the teeth situation - though if Mary happens to be wearing her Mask of a Thousand Faces kissing is definitely in the cards. It doesn’t happen too often as Nines doesn’t want her thinking that’s the only way he’s able to love her.

Who cries the most? Who is better at comforting?

Mary’s the crybaby. It’s bad when you’re Kindred, given that her tears are blood. She’s newer to the reality of being Kindred and not yet emotionally ground down enough to keep her from feeling sadness at the state of things. Nines has that old fashioned stoicness keeping him from shedding tears - it happens but it’s incredibly rare.

He is, however, better at providing comfort - not just because he’s physically built better for hugs but also due to just generally exuding an aura of safety and sturdiness. Nines is soft spoken and usually knows the right words to say. Mary finds having a fixed point calming and treasures the knowledge of someone having her back.

Who is the bigger flirt?

Nines, Nines, Nines. Once he’s aware that Mary is WEAK for it he enjoys teasing her. In general, he knows he’s a pretty good looking guy and that it gives him an advantage. Mary’s too self conscious to really throw herself into shamelessly flirting - when she does it’s almost always with a healthy dose of plausible deniability.

atwq book four thoughts

guess who somehow got a lot of free time yesterday and made the bold decision to finish reading the last atwq book? me!

guees who feels like they jinxed qwerty’s fate from the previous book of being arrested, but alive, even though i bet daniel handler planned it from the start? still me!

guess who is rather upset netflix accidentally gave a clue/spoiler on the identity of hangfire?

also me.

okay, so first off, to get something out of the way. i love this book. i really do. it had me on suspense every chapter.

theodora figured out qwerty was in vfd (...when did she figure out? not long after sharon reveal herself as a fake vfd member? or during the period she and lemony weren’t speaking to each other?), and god she really was willing to take the blame on being qwerty’s killer. did she think maybe she once again screw up, but this time there was no going back because the screw up got someone killed? after all she seem to selfishly went to break qwerty out for a good evaluation. maybe she thought if things went different, he would still be alive. and given the schism happened, vfd while not divided yet, this is like a sign on how another librarian’s death in the long, long future, will be blame on an innocent party and things go to hell again in the pursuit of justice and truth.

also, ghede and gifford also knew of the coup as well? or at least knew the sbg was doing something and they’re like let them do this shit and we can watch it’s gonna benefit us in the long run’. also, holy shit olaf name drop take two with beatrice herself! i didn’t think while knowing each other young mean they actually hanged out with one another to think they’re possibility friends. this puts the opera night even worse. beatrice must have knew olaf’s parents. with my headcanon of olaf parents being caring parents to olaf and used their connections to get their son back earlier than others, this is just awful.

getting back on track from the mess that is vfd there’s a murder on a train (agatha christie ahoy!). i admit several weeks ago i made the decision to watch snowpiercer and train to busan so i couldn’t really take the murder on the orient express shout out clearly and kept on thinking of the wild willy wonka and the chocolate factory/snow piercer theory. and zombies in south korea.

all the damn sbts kids just thought it great to share the one brain cell to be on the same train (pip and squeak just follow in their taxi; cleo and jake had to travel through time in the dilemma to catch up with them). ornette got her time to shine with her artistic/sculpting skills and there’s some light on the subject of the lost family (of course it’s a fire that took ornette’s mom life. fires seems to be a way to kill a lot of parents). i was right to call her gung-ho working with lemony, she just agreed to make fake bb statues for moxie and kellar and was like ‘oh shit the two are sharing a brain cell. hangfire could figure something is up what have i done’ and had to make something else to give to lemony. i uh..wonder if seth has a reason to draw her baseball cap all...fuzzy. just a weird question.

kellar’s sister lizzie shows up. i’m going to be honest. she has the bad luck of appearing last and under two disguises that went over my head (she sure fooled me!). i do have some thoughts that surround her and the haines family, but that needs me to re-read the last two books to make sure i’m not imagining something . will say lizzie is much younger and shorter than i thought given her first illustration. i hope maybe a re-read will make me get some new insight on her. also, hi sally murphy. i’m glad lizzie got out with maybe your help (i mean, why else would she want to high tail it out of there).

the identity of qwerty’s killer was something i should have seen coming due to how the mitchum parents are more subdue. i want to slap stew’s parents. they spend all their time bickering they only got their shit together to see how their ‘precious’ son is really a bully and killer and working with the villian under their damn noses. i almost feel sorry for them because shit stew more or less blackmail his parents into covering the crime but at the same time...this call could have been avoid if you pay attention to how your son isn’t the angel you think he is..and you two are still fighting with one another please get your priorities straight i beg you. i admit i almost want to slap stew but i don’t slap kids, and i think if i exist in the snicket world i would get murder first by him.

qwerty’s death and the fact he’s a vfd member just hurt me so bad and i’m still kind of grieving over him. for one, i felt like i should have seen qwerty being part of vfd coming. he’s a sub-librarian. while not a sub-sub-librarian, the fact is qwerty is such so damn helpful to lemony i should have seen he was just doing his best to help lemony because theodora wasn’t honestly...wasn’t doing a good job at a chaperone. but he couldn’t blow away his cover because he wasn’t supposed to interfere in the apprenticeship and honestly he was just happy to be a sub-librarian helping children find what they would love reading.

but qwerty isn’t the only death in this book. i got to copy-paste something from an old atwq post in feburary 8, something i made as a joke, because oh boy, this part is the one negative i have honestly.

he tried to pretend to be her father! i know his voice mimicry is basically akin to juni cortez’s mimicry, but this is just cruel had ellington been there.

about a week later, i made the decision to rewatch netflix asoue. now, the first time i watch season two [edit lmao i actually don’t remember if it was season two i think i hated season two so much i could have blur two and three together i got to rewatch the show again definitely. edit two: okay, i’m certain it was season two i’m 98% certain it was was a pause and read easter egg that’s why i couldn’t remember what season exactly damn easter eggs] i honestly was like ‘so they gave nero a last name. coolio. feint isn’t a surname i was expecting but this is the netflix show this probably isn’t canon to the books’.

on the rewatch, after the austere academy part two ended, i realized something is...off, with nero now. he’s mocking people. and his voice, while not mimicking them, is like...it’s like nero could have inherit mimicry from someone but it never went through. or maybe he did got it but it’s not at its full potential without the proper teaching of someone with the skill...like a father, perhaps?

so the kronk meme is playing in my mind, but it’s the edit of him saying ‘oh no, it’s all coming together’. and given patrick warburton also voice kronk, it felt more like lemony snicket decided to materialize right behind me, be an asshole, and thought it funny to do a commentary on my possible realization hangfire, in the netflix show at least, couldn’t keep his dick in his pants and bore a bastard son in an adulterous affair and ellington has a half brother in the world she doesn’t know about and i hope she never learns about.

(given barrymore feint is just a cameo of barry sonnenfeld, i guess the bullshit gene i talked about in another post regarding a theory who netflix!h is should be renamed the feint gene.)

so reading the third book, and especially this book, i kept a close eye on any mentions to ellington’s dad and hangfire’s behavior. i kept on saying in my mind ‘please don’t be who i think you are’. and bam. armstrong feint is hangfire. i feel like if netflix didn’t have the need to make an atwq reference in nero’s surname, and if i was smart enough to have the book clues smack me in the face (i feel there are clues somewhere, and hangfire dropped all pretenses and just being ‘himself’ in book two was one), i wouldn’t be so angry and upset by this reveal. i more or less got spoil and put the pieces together due to an adaptation, and i should have known better than to do a re-watch while reading atwq. i should have consider the possibility of easter eggs to atwq.

anyway, lemony snicket thought it great to kill hangfire by feeding him to a copy bombinating beast (the tadpoles!!). with ellington right freaking there. with most of his sbts friends there to witness. moxie can’t even look lemony in the eye anymore (no more best friends anymore). everything happened just like that and after finishing the book and taking a walk around the living room, i have to say hangfire is a good villain. he achieved his goal of getting the bombinating beast, even if it’s a copy. he’s a very competent villain who succeed in almost every book in some way or form. he played everyone like a puppet and was a threat that is more akin to tmwabbnh and twwhbnb’s level of villainy. kudos to you hangfire i’m impressed.

hangfire totally got it coming too. however, i do feel...hurt in his death, if only for ellington’s sake. during the walk because i realize ellington reminded me of a character from a different fandom i’m in. there’s some differences that i won’t get into (it’s...complicated for the other fandom), but they’re cut from almost the same cloth: teenage girls with shitty fathers who are using them for their own selfish goals. thoughts for ellington and her future formed faster for me than for the other atwq kids as a result:

post-canon!ellington (a few days later when she finally gets her stuff figure out), has a simple list. 1: avoiding anyone with a vfd tattoo or give shady lemon vibes -ellington split asap after she and kit broke out and have 100% certainly no one is after them, but not before stealing some things from kit, one being notes of vfd volunteers (she thinks). 2: find a new place to live. 3: figure out a new name that isn’t an anagram, because the inhumane society once they heard the news, is probably going to try to get her if they get wind she is hangfire’s daughter and possible ‘successor’. ellington wants nothing to do with the bombinating beast. she never wants to see the statue or anything similar, or hear the words again.

adult!ellington (under a fake name of course), while accepting all that happened, hasn’t forgive lemony snicket. yes, her dad was a villain. yes, she finally understand her dad isn’t the kind naturalist and man, and used her for the biggest ‘what’ event of her life that is also a very selfish goal. many times in the past though, ellington wonders if she missed any signs of her dad’s descend to who he eventually became, or if he hid it very well to where he was wearing two masks all this time, one hiding his true nature. ellington even wonders at one point, dad was going convince her to willingly work with him without the fake kidnapping and had to change his plans to something crueler.

ellington will never know for sure. this is why ellington can’t forgive lemony and will say it to face if they ever meet again. what ellington hates the most out of her father’s death is that she can never tell dad all of her feelings about his wrong doings. she can ask all the questions burning at the back of her mind, or yell her frustrations how terrible a father he is for faking his kidnapping and getting her to do his dirty work, getting her to use her loyalty of family to do things she would never do under normal circumstances. she ask questions and yells at the only photo left of armstrong feint...

and in the end, she knows he’ll never answer, and it hurts to deal with the unknown. adult!ellington doesn’t do the yelling and questioning to the photo as much. partly because she did ‘settle’ on what might be an possible answer, but mostly because the photo is pretty faded to where it’s less ‘armstrong feint’ and more ‘hangfire’. once in awhile though, she slips up like old times.

adult!ellington with her new life (she travels a lot, pays in cash most of the time, and has no set resident; she still love coffee) tends to think of the past, especially when it came to what she had with lemony snicket. did lemony like her? was she just a question in need of solving? ellington admits to possibly liking him, but it was so long ago maybe she just thinks she liked him to have a ‘positive’ memory of the boy she haven’t seen in years that she kind of wants to see again, if only to yell at him for robbing her of something important. his name lands on her radar a lot, twice from the daily punctilio. the first one was learning of lemony snicket’s crimes, and it was an accident.

the second time, she learn of his death, though she read the daily punctilio on purpose in hopes of a name drop. adult!ellington ended up finding some children’s book, and made the mistake of going to the back of it and find a photo of lemony snicket. not really though. lemony is hiding his face (ellington hates it) and she buys it to know what it’s about. it spiral to where she bought the next two books because she wants to know if the baudelaires orphans are real (and because lemony doesn’t seem the same anymore from his writings). ellington settles on real when she pulls out kit snicket’s notes she stolen and cross references names, and even travels to the locations to them to make sure. after the third book publication, the series goes on ‘hiatus’ due to the daily punctilio and their announcement. ellington doubts he’s dead, but couldn’t help attend the funeral. ellington is certain lemony snicket is alive, because she convinced she saw him at his own funeral.

Becoming part of the vlog squad friend group was pretty simple. You were a little more reserved around them since you were new to the group, and they loved that. It made for more reactions for the clips. Although, you were newer, everyone had taken a liking to you. Especially Dom. While you weren’t as innocent, more so as quiet, Dom had a heightened attraction to you, especially since you were so hard to get. To you, Dom was an attractive guy, but sleeping around wasn’t your thing and you made that known to him on multiple occasions. Of course that did not stop Dom’s advances. You were someone who did not worship him or jump on the opportunity to sleep with him immediately, and he wanted to conquer you.

Little did he know, you had your eyes on someone else anyway, so truly he had no chance. David was the one you caught yourself glancing at when sitting around. His laugh could fill the entire room and your heart. The attraction was there for you instantly, but the more you hung around him, the more your heart pounded and your cheeks would heat up as he looked at you. He has the most mood-changing smile. His smile turned into your smile. The cruel reality that he was not interested in you was there, yet your feelings grew.

Keeping your feelings a secret was your top priority. It had to stay a secret so you wouldn’t lose friendships and embarrass yourself. Only one person you confided in and that was Corinna. With opposing personalities, you two were a great pair from the start. Both of you kind hearted and sweet, but you were just a little more reserved and awkward than she. Also, she was not an idiot. You practically drooled over David whenever he was around. She had told you to say “fuck it,” and admit your crush to David, but you refused to.

“It would just ruin everything,” you groaned, throwing your head back down on the couch and squinting your eyes.

“Or, it could start something,” she bit back, pursing her lips at your defiance.

You ignored her and continued on with watching your TV show.

Most days were the same, consisting of you attending school and doing school work and later hanging out with whoever invited you along anywhere. When a text popped up on your phone from David, you were slightly tingly. On many occasions David was the one who invited you to hang out, but you knew it was just him being friendly and most likely needing footage. Within seconds, your fingers were flying across the keyboard saying that “yes” to his offer of hanging out. He responded back in seconds saying to meet him at Alex and Dom’s place. Easily, you changed out of your pajama pants into leggings and left your house and headed towards your car. Your phone dinged as you drove and listened to music loudly. Glancing down at a red light, you saw it was from Corinna.

Bitch, are you coming to Alex’s?

Quickly you typed back:

lol yes? are you?

Another ding and she replied

Yea, I’ll see you there. Just making sure they weren’t lying to me for some clip shit or whatever lmao

Shaking your head, you continued towards the apartment. Once you pulled into a parking spot and made your way up to the apartment, you knocked on the door. Alex opened it and gave you a smile.

“Hey, y/n,” he greeted, sweetly.

“Hey,” you smiled back, walking into the apartment as he made room for you to enter. As you walked towards the living room, you saw Dom, Corinna, and David lounging on the couches. No camera was in sight, but who knew where it was. It had to be close by like always.

“Hey, babe,” you smiled at Corinna and went over to lean down and hug her. She grinned back at you as you plopped down next to her.

“Hey, babe,” Dom greeted, grinning, teasing.

“Hello, Dom,” you sighed, smiling at him to show you didn’t really mean any harm by it.

“You look nice,” he continued, moving from next to David, to closer to you. Even though you didn’t necessarily want the compliment from him, you couldn’t stop your cheeks from heating up. “Really nice,” he continued once again, eyeing you up and down.

“Too bad she’s my bitch,” Corinna butted in, leaning towards you.

“She could be mine,” Dom smiled at you.

“Like the other sixteen you have right now?” David added, raising an eyebrow.

“I would drop them all for, y/n,” Dom said back.

“How flattering,” you laughed, shaking your head.

“So are we needed for anything or are we actually just hanging out?” Corinna asked as Alex entered the room.

“He probably needs some shit, just wait,” Alex responded, monotone, flopping down on the couch next to me. I shot him a smile and he gave me the same.

“I mean, if you do need some footage, David, you could just record y/n and I making out,” Dom offered, as if it was an actual possibility. You laughed, loudly. There was no other way to deal with Dom’s continuous flirtation other than to laugh. David’s eyebrows scrunched as he inhaled sharply.

“Don’t need that,” David said, with annoyance.

“She laughed, so she may be about it. That would be good clickbait,” Dom countered, really trying to make this possible.

“I think David is okay on footage,” you responded, shaking your head once again. “And if we aren’t doing anything, can we at least watch a movie?” you added, looking around.

“Only if you’re watching it in my room,” Dom responded first.

“Jesus, Dom, cut it out,” Alex groaned. “Yes, a movie, out here.” Then, he looked at Dom, clearly over the game.

“But, y/n,” Dom murmured, “It would be a lot more fun just you and me in my room.” He turned to look at you with a smirk.

“Dom, shut the fuck up,” David said, not in his normal, joking manner. “She says no to ever sort of advancement, just let it go, shit,” David mumbled. Everyone glanced over at David and then towards you.

Dom being his usual bothersome self, continued on, “You don’t know, she may say yes this time.”

“Doubtful,” Corinna said, not amused.

“I mean you’d be surprised, a lot of girls just can’t resist,” Dom winked at you. You rolled your eyes before pushing yourself up off the couch.

“Dom, can you just stop?” you murmured, snuggling into your cardigan as you began to put your shoes on.

“Only if you give me a kiss,” Dom grinned and you shook your head, grabbing your bag.

“I’m gunna go, I’ll see ya later,” you mumbled. Dom was unfazed and Corinna gave you sad eyes, feeling bad for you already leaving.

“I think I’m gunna go, too,” David said, standing up.

“Love you,” you said to Corinna before waving at Alex and glaring at Dom who just blew you a kiss. You walked towards the door and heard David say his goodbyes. As you made it to the door, you head David’s rushed footsteps.

“Hey,” he called, as you walked out the door. He followed out quickly and shut the door. “I’m sorry I invited you here.” His eyes looked down at you as you shifted awkwardly.

“I mean, it’s okay, you can’t help what Dom does,” you shrugged.

“I know, but you just deserve someone who means those things he’s saying. Not just wanting to fuck you,” he awkwardly said with a nervous smile.

“Um, thank you?” you responded, equally as awkward. “I’ll see you later,” you murmured, hugging him quickly before going to your car, blushing furiously.

The ride home, you listened to music loudly and happily and heard your phone ding at least three times with messages. Once you pulled into the driveway, you looked down to see all of them were from David.

Hey, I’m sorry again.

Did you wanna come by later? I’m having some people over to hang out. The usuals

Quickly, you typed back and said you would be there. He told you to come over at nine and you rushed inside to see you had enough time to lay down and take a nap. He sent one last message saying it was casual, of course, and to dress comfy. You smiled before laying down. Another ding came from your phone, but this time from Dom:

I’ll see you later tonight, bb ;)

Groaning, you locked your phone and closed your eyes. Why couldn’t David flirt with you instead of Dom?

After your nap, you took a shower and got ready quickly. Leggings and a crop tank and cardigan and some Vans was what you threw on after getting ready. You texted David saying you were on the way and began to drive to David’s house. Where you lived wasn’t too far form David’s place, so you arrived pretty quickly. When you pulled up, there was no one in the driveway. Shrugging it off, you headed towards his front door. After ringing the doorbell, David opened the door for you with a shy smile.

“Hey,” he said, hanging onto the door.

“Hi,” you smiled back walking through the entrance. “Did I beat everyone here?” you questioned, seeing no one.

“Uh, yes,” he responded, awkwardly. You nodded as you followed him towards the living room. Trips to David’s house weren’t in a big quantity. As you waited, you laid down on the couch to see alcohol on the table and over in the kitchen. Criminal Minds was on the TV and you curled up, watching. David shuffled towards the couch you were on and sat next to you. There was a comfortable silence as you both watched the show. Your heart pounded as he moved a couple times and suddenly, his fingers were playing with your hair. Thankfully, you didn’t flinch. If you did, you were scared he would have stopped. He was so gentle as he played with the ends, and twirled pieces. From where you were, you couldn’t see him and hoped he wasn’t able to see the flush on your cheeks. Your eyes were trained on the TV but you were not even paying attention.

“Your hair is so soft,” he whispered, continuing to mess with it.

“Thank you,” you murmured, scared any sort of movement or sound could ruin the moment. Just as luck was, the doorbell rang and David shot off the couch and to the door. Sighing, you got up and grabbed a bottle of wine and began to drink. Dom, Alex, Zane, and Todd all barged through the door and grinned at the alcohol. David followed behind and seemed a little irritated with them, which was weird.

“There’s my girl,” Zane smiled. You grinned right back at him and ran over to give him a hug. Dom hung around you two and even though you were plenty of feet apart, you could smell the weed he had smoked earlier. Zane and you sat down on the couch and began taking shots together. After about four, you let Zane continue the process with Todd. Everyone else filed in randomly. Smiling and feeling dazed, you stalked off to the kitchen to see a couple people you were unfamiliar with and went towards the wine and grabbed a glass. As you sipped on it, you could feel the shots taking over your state. Music played just loud enough so people had to talk louder than normal.

“Hey, babe,” Dom’s flirtatious voice spoke as he came close to you. Sighing, you gulped down the rest of the wine.

“Dom, how many times do I have to say-” I began but was cut off by Dom’s hand finding a place on my waist.

“That you’re dying to give me a chance?” he grinned, leaning towards you.

You shook your head to signal no and stepped out of his grip. “That I’m not interested,” you corrected.

“Why not?” he pouted, coming closer to you.

“Because, you just wanna fuck me and leave me,” you stated, smiling up at him. “I don’t play those games.”

His hand wrapped around your waist this time and you couldn’t help but laugh for some reason. With the alcohol running through you and his never-ending attempts to sleep with you, somehow turned into humor. Easily, you stepped away from him and found your way into the bathroom. Stepping towards the sink, you inhaled. The alcohol had definitely hit you by now. As you let your eyes close for a second, you heard the door open. “Dom, I swear if you-” you began but cut yourself off when you saw David enter. He shut the door behind him.

“Hey,” he said, looking at you.

“What are you doing in here?” you asked, leaning against the counter. Gulping, you watched as David walked towards you.

“You know how hard it is to see you laugh with Dom? Like really hard since I was the one who had even pointed out how pretty you are,” David paused to look at you. Breathing was becoming hard to do as he came closer. He towered over you as he continued, “I was the one who admitted to having a crush on you. I even told Dom that and he still tries and you let him and it’s fucking infuriating,” his voice was so serious and annoyed and you couldn’t move. David Dobrik was saying all this to you and was touching you. His body was pressed against yours, making you crane up to look at him. “I’m the one who likes you.” Anger wasn’t there so much as irritation. His head dipped down towards yours but he stopped while his hand came to cup your cheek. “I’m the one who’s good for you, not him. I fucking like you,” he finished before pressing his lips against yours. It was a needy kiss. Both him and you needed the kiss. Once he pulled away, he looked down at you.

“I never was interested in Dom. I’ve had a crush on you,” you whispered, feeling the redness in your cheeks and chests and everywhere in your body. Your head was spinning as you admitted it. He tugged on his lower lip with his teeth as he looked at you.

“It honestly annoys me when he flirts with you and I almost want to punch him,” he admitted and it was his turn to blush. David Dobrik punching someone didn’t sound possible, but it truly was when it came to this.

All you could do was stare at him as he looked down at you, his fingers toying with the ends of your hair. Looking into his eyes, you didn’t even notice that you were both leaning towards each other. Once his lips almost touched yours, your eyes fluttered closed and he kissed you again. This time, he pressed your back against the counter and held your waist gently. Suddenly, the door flung open and you both pulled away to see Zane grinning in the doorway.

“Holy shit! Guys come here!” Zane screamed, giddily and clearly drunk. Blushing, you cuddled into David’s chest and tried to hide from everyone.

“Zane, stop!” David exclaimed, but it was too late. Everyone piled in as much as they could and screamed and hollered at you and David. He wrapped his arms around you, encircling you in the safety of his chest. After the shock wore off, everyone left and you could hear the uproar continue outside the bathroom. Your head was spinning as David pulled away and you whined at the lack of warmth.

“In a way, I’m kind of happy that happened, because now they know that you’re mine,” he said, smiling slightly.

“You didn’t ask me to be,” you pursed your lips at him, knowing if he did you would say yes because it was a stupid point.

Biting his lips, he smiled down at you, “Will you be my girlfriend?”

“Ask me in the morning again, so I’ll forget about the hangover I’m going to have,” you smiled shyly. He laughed loudly.

“Do you want to go lay down in my room?” he asked, pushing your hair behind your ear. You nodded and followed him out of the bathroom and to his room. Everyone screamed once again and you blushed. Once you reached his room, he tugged you towards his bed. Sitting down, David took off his shoes and then your own before laying down under the blankets. You scrambled towards him and laid down next to him. The room was dark and he tugged you to him. His hands played with your hair as you laid with your head on his chest.

“I’m sleepy,” you murmured, cuddling closer to him.

“Sleep, baby,” David said gently, kissing your forehead.

bb jaejin was orphaned a few weeks after his birth when his powers started manifesting (things exploding when jaejin cried) and news broke out about the miracle babies possibly being dangerous.

birth mother decides to drop him off at an orphanage -- no note, no name, no anything.

the lady who owned the orphanage took him in and gave him the name jaejin. she was nice and the kids were her priority. life in the orphanage was pretty easy for baby jae except for the random exploding things since that shizz put him in a place where he couldn’t hang around as much with the other kids #lonelyboy.

baby jae was quite the eyecatching little baby, adorable with beautiful eyes that had spots of magenta in them. seeking parents were easily endeared by him and being adopted was a piece of cake.

but the thing is yo boi is a literal baby boomer, so when he would cry or be in stress, things would randomly explode and parents dont want that! so they return the poor baby.

this goes on for years on end and broke jinjin’s wittle heart ;n; , at a young age he started to question himself and feel like there’s something wrong with him.

true enough that usan has made quite the rounds on national tv, but the orphanage lady did not have the heart to give away jaejin. she believes that he needs to experience having a family and that there’s a family out there for him -- jaejin thinks otherwise, no one wants him.

that’s what he thought up until he was 6. yo boi finally gets adopted for the last time!!! WHERE ARE THE PARTY POPPERS??? WHERE IS THE CAKE?!?!?!?! a woman in her early 30s adopts jaejin and is perfect and most loving person he has ever met with 2 other adopted kids. turns out she is an advocate for the oct.1st babies and actually works for usan (then). additionally his adopted siblings turn out to be oct.1st babies too! it was the perfect family and jaejin loves them to the moon and back.

usan becomes his home and yo boi finally has a family :(

sidenotes// just a few things i thought are important to mention

so jaejin’s power is molecular speed manipulation. if you’ve watched og charmed it’s the same with piper halliwell’s. so to simplify he’s basically a remote control lmfao he can pause, fastforward, slowmo molecules with a bonus catch on fire or make things explode button. may it be living or non-living as long as they’re made up of molecules. he’s lowkey pretty much inspired by piper halliwell from charmed and gambit from xmen.

is a big baby -- 6ft tall but still a baby.

loves magic so much that this dork got a whole education at an online magic school to be a magician. i--

has a pet he loves very much his name is joe. ITS HIS LONG ASS METAL STAFF. legit talks to it and pets it, sometimes even sleeps with it. he just wants a dog!!!!! SOMEONE GIVE HIM A DOG PLS I BEG U.

he’s a happy little bean but don’t be fooled he’s really sad on the inside he just doesn’t want to show it because he’s learned that there are fewer accidents that way.

H Y P E R -- questioning it really, if the reason being is all his molecules are sped up.

he’s very into skinship and loves hugs and cuddles -- it makes him feel warm.

does magic professionally -- does shows regularly at a bar and occasionally does street magic when he can. also isn’t afraid to randomly approach usan peeps to do closeup magic. i think it’s his way of saying hello. mayhaps have asked someone in support team who specializes in weapon tech to make him smoke bombs just so he can have a grand entrance and exit.

plots// a collection of connections and plots. these are pretty vague and all i can think of at the top of my head! we can always work on it and tweak it!

a bff he can do all sorts of things with! has been there thru the ups and downs and legit fam to jinjin

other orphan/s he might have met at the orphanage. this might need a bit of more plotting since the orphanage lady doesn’t believe in sending the miracle kids at the orphanage away to usan.

someone he annoys the hell out of because he’s a dork that loves magic and constantly bothers u.

u trip holding food/drinks, fortunately, jaejin is there to pause everything and save u from a nasty accident.

jae’s having a bad day, cue explosion. u see it or hear it and u find a little balled up jae crying.

u love jaejin’s magic tricks so jaejin loves u.

someone who legit doesn’t like him? maybe because they’re jealous of his family? he accidentally did something wrong to you? etc.

u find him talking and petting his metal stick staff -- things get awkward.

go out and grab a snack at the cafe or go out partying ayyyyyyyyeeee caution: u will have an extra clingy jinjin sooooooo.

You’re welcome! I’ll have to read veta’s fanfic, it looks good! One hc I have is that Osman’s daemon is still unsettled because of everything that happens with Halsey, the Spartan program, and Kilo-5 and it’s not until after she reads her file and then becomes CINCONI that he settles. And I know you’d said you thought the AIs wouldn’t have daemons, but I thought they’d make their own (except for BB because he doesn’t want to get too invested in humans) partly because they don’t want the humans to freak out, I think.

Also, for larger daemons (like Forge has a Fjord horse), there’s armor for them so they don’t get hurt on the field. Ellen Anders has a red kangaroo and he teaches her to box.

I have some of the characters and their daes here and here if you’d like to see! ^^ (from my main, this is like a secondary main because I’m bad with switching between my side blogs)

Few others I thought of: Evan Phillips, mockingbird or lyre bird; Paragnosky, northern Inuit dog (Thelka), Naomi, northern Inuit dog; Chief Mendez, ram

That’s a very interesting idea regarding Serin, and I love the symbology but it would require a conscious deviation from the canon of daemons (i.e. settles upon reaching maturity) and being someone with many autistic traits I just can’t handle the framework being thrown away like that! Lmao too much creative freedom for me, all that’s left is madness. I think again @veta-lopis is the person to talk to about that, she’s done some discussion before about Serin’s character I think?

Huh, I figured the AIs lacking daemons would be involuntary, since they choose their avatar on creation and can have great trouble and even damage themselves trying to change it later; but now I’m thinking about it, many probably choose to have daemons right away as a holdover from the human mind they were created from.

Armour for daemons! Simple, ingenious and probably took ages to do without risk of breaking taboo! I love it. I wonder if that has any side effects on the daemons? They aren’t standardly corporeal or bound in the same way by our physical laws after all, and we only see un-clothed/burdened ‘natural/vulnerable’ daemons in the trilogy. It’s an interesting notion.

There is, however, one point of contention: Parangosky?? A dog??? A good sweet obedient boy who loves you loyally???? Never!! I have a northern inuit dog and she is the loveliest, sweetest, most conflict-avoidant creature! Yes her priorities are 90% food but she ain’t shy about it! Nothing like the manipulative, hipocritical Parangosky who groomed and re-brainwashed the disabled young woman Serin was when she came into ONI!

lmao sorry anon my answer to this got really long so I’m putting it under a read more:

Hmmmm this is tough, mostly bc it’s been a minute since I played BBS, BUT

1. Before you fight Terranort in BBS when she says “My name is Master Aqua” bc she had never referred to herself as a master before that point but when faced with someone possessing Terra she immediately goes “oh absolutely the fuck not, I’m a fuckin keyblade master and you’re gonna learn exactly what that means if you don’t get the fuck out of him”

2. Similarly, “Shut up! I’m sick of your nonsense! Give Ven his heart back!” @ Venitas, like he spouts all this stuff about kingdom hearts and the keyblade war and w/e but she could not give less of a fuck about any of it bc her one and only priority is Ven

3. The first thing she does when she makes it back to Ven is hug him and apologize for being late which is just v cute

4. This isn’t like a specific moment but one of the things I appreciate most about her is how often she’s shown grappling with & eventually overcoming fear/loneliness/insecurity, like 0.2 is basically a deep dive into her self-doubt and isolation but she never fully succumbs to it

5. Related, but I actually appreciate how she just completely freezes up in the face of the heartless tornado, like she only just got out of the RoD so of course she’s still traumatized by all that and would be terrified of so many heartless after dealing with Demon Towers/Tides for a decade, and I like that the game shows that instead of her just being completely unfazed by it

6. The fact that she took on Ansem SoD without a keyblade with no hesitation and kicked the Guardian in the face???

7. This is technically not the “real” Aqua but Anti-Aqua calling out Mickey for fuckin abandoning her in the RoD was extremely validating and I actually wish regular Aqua was a bit more upset by that and didn’t just let it go immediately

8. OH when Terra gets restored in KH3, the way she goes “Terra...? Is it... really you?” like she’s so hesitant to let herself believe he’s actually back bc she’s so used to him being used to hurt her and doesn’t want to open herself up to that pain yet again if it’s not him despite how badly she wants to believe it is him

There are more I’m sure but these are the ones that spring to mind!

Fun fact: Toby’s transformation here wasn’t even planned on my part. Either I’d forgotten how quickly the moon cycle changes around and how close the moon was, or there was an error in the cycle settings, or whatever, but that completely took me by surprise. Still, given it provided its fair share of... chaos, it was a great thing to use to my advantage!

Okay, a quick question to those of you who got this far... did I make it too obvious in Episode 3 that Scott was going to be first to die? IIRC I’d already played up to the end of the challenge and rolled for that first victim when I began writing that installment in particular, but I tried to keep the foreshadowing quite light on that score... IDK, I’m trying not to be ungrateful - I guess I was anticipating more of a reaction to the idea that Scott, having been accused in all but name, would die first, but then I’m set in my ways like that.
