got a worm nibbling my brain. can someone help me find a piece of obscure media?
webcomic/indie comic from the 2010s. basically a sci-fi short story about a young girl (with red hair?) who was being raised by scientists as part of an experiment. she receives a haircut/has her head shaved, in preparation for her annual brain scan/testing. it is revealed that while her body is human, her "brain" is artificial, made of computer implants throughout her skull and spine. at some point her biological mother (also a scientist on the same campus?) encounters her and is repulsed, viewing her as a machine who has murdered her daughter.
it was very poignant and it bruised my heart and i can NOT find it anywhere

going to a different secondary school than cbf!soap and not recognising him in his new uniform also his big big shoulders
your school friends 🫣youknow him?? and you being like 😳i thought i knew him
okay but he acts like you're the only thing that matters (it's because you do.)
like when he was at bootcamp, he'd take out a worn, creased picture of you and stare at it, reminding himself who he does it for and who he's coming back to.
"doin' it for my one," he tells the others but the picture is one he hastily took of you when he broke into your room and:
1. it's blurry cuz you were quick on throwing him a shoe
2. naked where it matters
3. suspiciously stained don't ask questions

things we learn about scully in s1
she has a godson (and she told his mother that she thinks mulder is cute)
she did her residency in forensic medicine
she's good with dogs and is naturally drawn to all kinds of animals (even evil-looking monkeys)
she wants to keep her christmas tree up all year because her father always made her take it down as soon as the holiday was over
(and she was never positive that her father, who was in the navy and involved in the cuban blockade, was truly proud of her, because she joined the FBI instead of becoming a full-time doctor like he had wanted)
((and he didn't say "i love you" the last time he spoke to her. ouch))
when she was 14, she stole one of her mother's cigarettes, which she thought was disgusting, but she wanted to do something Forbidden for once
she once forgot her own birthday (which is february 23rd) when she was studying for her exams
she has a little cat sign on her apartment door <3
when challenged by the preacher's kid, she refused to deny the power of God; she was raised catholic, and remembers that "God never lets the devil steal the show"
(she's almost always wearing a cross necklace, even while declaring that she considers science sacred)
((and yes, her favorite movie is the exorcist))
she took some biology courses on bugs and is now going to tell you some bug facts
she has two brothers, one younger and one older
her dad- with whom she did not have the greatest of relationships- nicknamed her "starbuck"
(he called her this after the steady and rational first mate character from moby dick; all the more cruel when you consider he pushed her aside for joining the FBI rather than doing the "logical" thing, becoming a doctor. to cast her in a role of the dutiful daughter without her permission and then create a conditional sense of love is just. so mean. it's a miracle she didn't turn out as emotionally repressed as he did)

@jegulus-microfic february 10, violin, 330 words
part one
James told himself that he was going to be the bigger person, be mature about the whole thing instead of starting something that will only lead to an argument and both of them at each other’s throats as they rehash the past. Except it’s been three weeks – three weeks – and Regulus hasn’t given the slightest hint that there’s anything between them other than this competition, not even when they’re alone in the studio. And somehow that’s worse.
“Are we really just going to pretend we don’t have history?” James finally breaks as Regulus starts the track again, the sound of the violin filling the room as they reset their positions.
“That was the plan, yeah. Why do you care, I thought you hated me? That’s what I gathered from your songs at least.”
James stumbles, steps with his left foot instead of his right. “You listen to my songs?”
“It’s a bit hard not to when they’re played on the radio every five minutes,” Regulus scoffs. “And you’re in a band with my brother, obviously I listen to them.”
“Well, if you listen to my songs,” James says, pausing as they separate and then move back together, Regulus’ back against his chest. His lips brush against the shell of Regulus’ ear as he continues, “Then you’d also know that I would take you back in a heartbeat.”
He hears the way Regulus’ breath hitches, can feel the goosebumps break out across Regulus’ skin where James’ hand slips beneath the hem of his t-shirt and settles on his waist. He wonders if he’s pushed him too far, if this is Regulus’ breaking point and he’s about to storm out of the room to tell the producers that he can’t do this.
And break he does, but not in the way James expected, because he was definitely not expecting Regulus to spin in his arms and surge up to meet his lips in a kiss, the music and their routine long forgotten.

ANDREY STAMATIN
Keep a close eye on Peter. You'd become desperate and turn into a villain without him.
I spend a lot of time thinking about daniil and peter, but something just clicked into place for me with andrey. so!
I am. currently untangling this thread of thoughts about the stamatin twins and daniil and this kind of. triangle that's happening. a three fold bullet for sure, the kind of recognition-awareness-understanding where three people become one, but to step back from that. when daniil and andrey talk, there's a specific shape of peter that stands in his conversational absence. so: triangle formation. it's opposite-adjacent-complementary to daniil and peter's conversations. it all goes back to that first conversation you have with andrey. it's giving knife. love it!
