Nobody expected Shigaraki to team up with heroes, especiallythe 1-A class. Ever. That is, until the HPSC got word of One For All and decided to kidnap the closest model of a hero Shigaraki could believe in.
“Why?” Izuku asked. He was bloody, dirt covering his face after the whole ‘demolition’ thing. “Why?” Izuku really couldn’t ask anything else as he squinted at Shigaraki.
“… you helped a kid who killed her father,” Shigaraki said. His gaze was on the burning building, the news reporters talking about the live stream video of Class 1A storming a Commission facility to reveal they were behind the kidnapping of hero student Dekiru.
“Eri killing her dad was an accident!” Izuku snapped.
“Killing her mother wasn’t,” Shigaraki said. Izuku blinked and looked away.
No, Eri’s whispered confession of what she did when the woman came back, when the beatings form her started… no.
That wasn’t an accident.
“When my Quirk came in I killed my whole family. I purposely touched my father,” Shigaraki confessed. “No one tried to save me. I stumbled around covered in blood and dust but everyone said a hero would come. They didn’t. But you…” Shigaraki finally looked at Izuku. “You would have. I bet… I bet if you were there, a little kid, you’d have grabbed your mom and dragged her to me. You’d have helped.”
“Of course,” Izuku said, puzzled. Shigaraki nodded slowly.
“I killed sensei,” Shigaraki remarked. “He… he wanted you dead. I don’t.” The pale man scratched his neck. “Not anymore. I don’t want a real hero dead.”
“Oh…” Izuku blinked. He didn’t know how to respond. Shigaraki simply gave a nod and walked away. A portal opened up, letting him through.
Izuku… well, he didn’t know what to think of that interaction.
Other then to ponder a what if.

ik i’ve read fics where moshang and bingqiu hang out (double date) but tbh i have a very hard time imagining the two couples would voluntarily spend any of their free time together. like when you get frenemies shen qingqiu and shang qinghua bickering almost nothing can get between them and mobei-jun and luo binghe can kiss any hope of getting a word in good bye (mobei is fine with this he doesn’t want to talk to people that are not his husband anyways, and luo binghe is mostly happy that shizun is having fun for about 5 minutes and then he gets pouty bc why can’t shizun pay attention to him), and when mbj and lbh are left alone they kinda just want to fight which is only fun for sqq and sqh every once in a while, and none of them really have much to say to their husband’s friend — so like they try double dates but inevitably they break off into duos and that just results in someone getting jealous and pouty (it is typically binghe that breaks first but… not always….) so they don’t do that anymore. henceforth all meetings between the four of them are strictly for business purposes. for everyone’s sanity

"And while that’s not a healthy way of coping and is unfair to the people affected, it also doesn’t make you an inherently bad person."
Thank you for saying this! I am tired of people vilifying Eddie. Was he at his best? Absolutely not. Does he have a pattern of taking things out on Buck like that? Yes. He lets things build up and then he blows. And Buck is his safe place and so that's where it happens. And like you said, unfair to the people affected. But he is not a bad person.
You said it much more eloquently than I can. But I am just so frustrated seeing people compare Eddie's actions to abuse (Maddie and Doug specifically, are you serious people??).
And I'm tired of this need for everything to serve Buck. I'm not saying Buck should be treated poorly, but any time any character is slightly mean or says something people don't like or does something that doesn't benefit Buck, they get up in arms. Other characters exist on this show. Other characters have their own journeys too. And that is OKAY.
Also, I don't want perfect well adjusted morally pure characters. That's boring. Go watch Bluey if you want that (no seriously though everyone go watch Bluey it's the best show ever). But what you'll see on children's shows is characters making mistakes but still being worthy of love and forgiveness over and over again.

There was a picture of me and the entire bunch, minus Deniz and Vanessa, standing together at the Teufelstopf in the dark of the late night. I had almost forgotten the photo existed. It was taken the day we decided to create a soccer bunch. A soccer bunch named the Wilden Kerle. — from The origin

Hm.... While I agree, Gabriel IS selfish.... I have to point out; he clearly changed his heart (again, I don't want to make him a saint) from hurting others. And (in my oppinion) there was no good human sollution. He was dieing, they said he has hours left.... He might could have ask for Adrien's forgivenes, but that doesn't changes the fact Adrien becomes an orphan, having either Emilie or Ms. Tsurugi as guardian (whis isn't that bad, but worse than what happend at the end). So, I would say, he made the best/better of the worst situation.
Also, I have the theory that his whis was to inflict the broken Peacock Miraculous dammage uppon himself. And asked Gimmi to read his heart, and I belive, in that moment, he doesn't wanted to hurt anybody, only heal. So, while I see why you say rightfully he awoided the consequenves, I belive he did it knowing it won't effect anybody negativly, at least ah he could foresee (part of my theory is that healing EVERYBODY from the Pracock's effect, which possibly includes Colt, so.... Here is your backlash😅🤫)
There is no perfect human solution, as Bug Noire herself pointed out — but, this is the entire point: accepting that some things will be lost, and that you need to do the best you can with what you have. A lesson Nathalie urged him to learn in earlier episodes, when she begged him to make plans for Adrien’s future.
Even if Gabriel was convinced it was the only solution — which we have established goes against the entire morale of the story and is selfish in itself, don’t use black magic kids, it’s really not that hard — let’s not forget that he:
Manipulated, then attacked a child to get there (there’s a reason they made this shot so threatening) ;
Tumblr media
Put the pressure on her to lie and protect his legacy — trapping Adrien in a neverending circle of mourning an heroic version of his father he never got to meet, while still dealing with the consequences of the abuse he inflicted upon him. Depriving him of a choice — that of forgiving his father or not — one last time.
In other words, the context around the wish, and the steps Gabriel takes in order to achieve it, reinforce its inherent selfishness, and the idea that people did and will get hurt as a result.
On a side note, I don’t think Gabriel could heal everyone that has been affected by the Peacock — it does not work well with the idea of equivalent exchange as explained by Gimmi, and Thomas Astruc heavily implied that the woman we see by the pool is Amelie (as bringing Emilie back would go against the message of these 5 seasons).
Tumblr media
What he most likely did was """sacrifice""" himself to bring back Nathalie, which would work well with the "a life for a life" rule, while still allowing him to join his wife in death.
Besides, if everyone (including Colt) was suddenly saved from the effects of the Peacock, Felix definitely wouldn’t look this happy:

I finally finished Arcane (although very late) and i really thought i knew all the spoilers at first...which i did not It seems, but that's actually a good thing. I thought many things were going to go differently, but i am very happy with the final results (alas all the suffering for both the characters and the watchers). It did not disappoint in it's complexity. I also admire the way the intro could really grasp the main events of this season and the way it depicted them.
I think i could really talk about this show for hours if given the chance, because it deserves more credit, especially the animators and the writers! They did an amazing job with this masterpiece of a series. (Seriously, 250M were spent for the two seasons and they gained back 60M, feed those poor animators😭🙏)
Perhaps i'm giving into my delusions but you cannot tell me Jinx didn't survive with that closing cut scene. They could've very well ended the season with Vi's and Cait's scene, but they still chose to add the one with the airship...i may be looking too much into it but it stinks just a little. Ella Purnell still leaves it open for interpretation in an interview, so i'm gonna trust that my girl is still out there somewhere. Hopefully😃
-☄️
its never too late to join the arcane fan club! your excitement is palpable, and honestly, i can’t blame you. you’re right about the complexity; there’s so much depth to the characters and their motivations, it’s hard not to get invested in what happens next. the animation and writing really deserve all the praise, those animators truly deserve all the recognition and support they can get!
as for jinx… oh, the eternal question…that final scene leaves just enough room for interpretation(i still believe she’s alive) ella’s hints are enough for us to hold onto hope—fingers crossed she’s still alive(i say being delusional.)

Responding to your cringe question (not cringe but a very difficult watch), mine is The Return of Chef
Knowing the actual truth behind Issac Hayes “quitting” and how his character was written off in such a brutal way makes the episode such a hard watch for me.
Ooooh man, you wanna know something crazy? That was one of the first episodes I actually remember seeing.
Okay, so I only saw the very end (RIP) because I happened to be passing the television when my sister was watching it, I believe when South Park had just gotten onto streaming services (Netflix maybe?). But anyway, at the time I had a really… low tolerance for gore, so seeing Chef’s mangled body like that did not inspire me to actually sit down and watch the show.
But with the context we have now I gotta say it’s a difficult watch for me, too. That whole situation was so tragic, and if someone didn’t hate those cock sucking Scientologists before they sure as hell should now. Fuck all those money hungry, anal leakage sucking scumbags for how they take advantage of people.
Anyway if you wanna know how I really feel about those people just rewatch the part in Cash 4 Gold when Stan calls in to the shopping network. He sums it up very eloquently.
I hope Issac is resting peacefully in whatever great beyond is actually out there, and I hope you always remember to skip that episode on the rewatch, my friend.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me, I… apparently have some pretty big feelings about this one!

EDIT: I do not interpret "just managing" as "just suffering, just enduring, curling into a fetal position and waiting for it to be over." Managing is an active process.
So I'm using this post as a platform to make the reminder that "the power of the people is greater than the people in power," and we all are cordially invited to:
Take good care of ourselves. Mental, physical, emotional health. Hydrate. Move if we can, get outside if we can.
Keep up a routine. Remember quarantine and we all had to find a routine? This is the same.
Be intentional in our news consumption. Let's not stick our heads in the sand but let's not doomscroll either. Get an RSS aggregator. Subscribe to WTF Just Happened Today, Yoour Local Epidemiologist, Fix The News (for some inspiring hopeful news!). We'll check our feeds a few times a week, but no more than once a day.
Connect with friends and loved ones. Remind ourselves that while SOME people are horrible, for the most part people are awesome... if complicated. Share our fears but also our hopes. Eat together.
Now that we're keeping healthy, safe, sane, and hopeful... now we also fight. Quietly if we prefer, loudly if we prefer. But sustainably. I hate that I had to live through three rounds of this nonsense where a few people use half of us as tools to fuck over ALL of us, but here we are again. So let us take just one moment every week or so to...
Use 5calls to keep blowing up our reps phones. Tell them to either break ranks with the Orange Administration, or to stand up louder than just matching outfits and signs. Or to THANK them for standing up.
Use Vote411 to find elections before the midterms. A lot of villages, cities, townships etc have local elections that will affect where we live... and more importantly, the people in office there will affect things upwards too.
Use Ballotpedia to know exactly what's on our ballots ahead of time.
Protest, because it actually works.
Use Vote.org to make a plan to vote in the midterms. Make a plan that is immune to voter suppression tactics. Get our documents in order. Reach out to our friends to go to the polls as a group. Plan to livestream our visit, up until the point we have to turn our cameras off.
Make and share memes that promote hope, organizing, solidarity, and/or resistance.
Get involved with an action network like Indivisible, MoveOn, or Working Families Party.
Go to a local town hall meeting. Speak up.
Heck, start our own local activism networks, letter campaigns, call campaigns, or fundraisers with Action Network.
And we will remember our self-care. We will remind ourselves and each other that they want us scattered, focus is how we resist.
It IS coming back. Things ARE going to get worse. The world has become a place where a very few people are pulling levers and pushing buttons that are actively destroying much of what is good about living in a society where people care for each other.
Many others are in shock, sputtering "but can they do that?" MANY many others are waiting for someone to come save us.
But there are those who are actively, loudly, opposing.
And there are more people speaking up, acting up, every day. More people saying it's time to get scrappy. It's time to get into some good trouble. The shock is wearing off.
Yes, it's gonna get worse before it gets better (the long-term damage of the acts of the past momentum of all the damage that has been done will take that long to be felt -- but it WILL get better.
If WE will it.
