Too big to care
Tumblr media
I'm on tour with my new, nationally bestselling novel The Bezzle! Catch me in BOSTON with Randall "XKCD" Munroe (Apr 11), then PROVIDENCE (Apr 12), and beyond!
Tumblr media
Remember the first time you used Google search? It was like magic. After years of progressively worsening search quality from Altavista and Yahoo, Google was literally stunning, a gateway to the very best things on the internet.
Today, Google has a 90% search market-share. They got it the hard way: they cheated. Google spends tens of billions of dollars on payola in order to ensure that they are the default search engine behind every search box you encounter on every device, every service and every website:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/10/03/not-feeling-lucky/#fundamental-laws-of-economics
Not coincidentally, Google's search is getting progressively, monotonically worse. It is a cesspool of botshit, spam, scams, and nonsense. Important resources that I never bothered to bookmark because I could find them with a quick Google search no longer show up in the first ten screens of results:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/02/21/im-feeling-unlucky/#not-up-to-the-task
Even after all that payola, Google is still absurdly profitable. They have so much money, they were able to do a $80 billion stock buyback. Just a few months later, Google fired 12,000 skilled technical workers. Essentially, Google is saying that they don't need to spend money on quality, because we're all locked into using Google search. It's cheaper to buy the default search box everywhere in the world than it is to make a product that is so good that even if we tried another search engine, we'd still prefer Google.
This is enshittification. Google is shifting value away from end users (searchers) and business customers (advertisers, publishers and merchants) to itself:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/03/05/the-map-is-not-the-territory/#apor-locksmith
And here's the thing: there are search engines out there that are so good that if you just try them, you'll get that same feeling you got the first time you tried Google.
When I was in Tucson last month on my book-tour for my new novel The Bezzle, I crashed with my pals Patrick and Teresa Nielsen Hayden. I've know them since I was a teenager (Patrick is my editor).
We were sitting in his living room on our laptops – just like old times! – and Patrick asked me if I'd tried Kagi, a new search-engine.
Teresa chimed in, extolling the advanced search features, the "lenses" that surfaced specific kinds of resources on the web.
I hadn't even heard of Kagi, but the Nielsen Haydens are among the most effective researchers I know – both in their professional editorial lives and in their many obsessive hobbies. If it was good enough for them…
I tried it. It was magic.
No, seriously. All those things Google couldn't find anymore? Top of the search pile. Queries that generated pages of spam in Google results? Fucking pristine on Kagi – the right answers, over and over again.
That was before I started playing with Kagi's lenses and other bells and whistles, which elevated the search experience from "magic" to sorcerous.
The catch is that Kagi costs money – after 100 queries, they want you to cough up $10/month ($14 for a couple or $20 for a family with up to six accounts, and some kid-specific features):
https://kagi.com/settings?p=billing_plan&plan=family
I immediately bought a family plan. I've been using it for a month. I've basically stopped using Google search altogether.
Kagi just let me get a lot more done, and I assumed that they were some kind of wildly capitalized startup that was running their own crawl and and their own data-centers. But this morning, I read Jason Koebler's 404 Media report on his own experiences using it:
https://www.404media.co/friendship-ended-with-google-now-kagi-is-my-best-friend/
Koebler's piece contained a key detail that I'd somehow missed:
When you search on Kagi, the service makes a series of “anonymized API calls to traditional search indexes like Google, Yandex, Mojeek, and Brave,” as well as a handful of other specialized search engines, Wikimedia Commons, Flickr, etc. Kagi then combines this with its own web index and news index (for news searches) to build the results pages that you see. So, essentially, you are getting some mix of Google search results combined with results from other indexes.
In other words: Kagi is a heavily customized, anonymized front-end to Google.
The implications of this are stunning. It means that Google's enshittified search-results are a choice. Those ad-strewn, sub-Altavista, spam-drowned search pages are a feature, not a bug. Google prefers those results to Kagi, because Google makes more money out of shit than they would out of delivering a good product:
https://www.theverge.com/2024/4/2/24117976/best-printer-2024-home-use-office-use-labels-school-homework
No wonder Google spends a whole-ass Twitter every year to make sure you never try a rival search engine. Bottom line: they ran the numbers and figured out their most profitable course of action is to enshittify their flagship product and bribe their "competitors" like Apple and Samsung so that you never try another search engine and have another one of those magic moments that sent all those Jeeves-askin' Yahooers to Google a quarter-century ago.
One of my favorite TV comedy bits is Lily Tomlin as Ernestine the AT&T operator; Tomlin would do these pitches for the Bell System and end every ad with "We don't care. We don't have to. We're the phone company":
https://snltranscripts.jt.org/76/76aphonecompany.phtml
Speaking of TV comedy: this week saw FTC chair Lina Khan appear on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. It was amazing:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaDTiWaYfcM
The coverage of Khan's appearance has focused on Stewart's revelation that when he was doing a show on Apple TV, the company prohibited him from interviewing her (presumably because of her hostility to tech monopolies):
https://www.thebignewsletter.com/p/apple-got-caught-censoring-its-own
But for me, the big moment came when Khan described tech monopolists as "too big to care."
What a phrase!
Since the subprime crisis, we're all familiar with businesses being "too big to fail" and "too big to jail." But "too big to care?" Oof, that got me right in the feels.
Because that's what it feels like to use enshittified Google. That's what it feels like to discover that Kagi – the good search engine – is mostly Google with the weights adjusted to serve users, not shareholders.
Google used to care. They cared because they were worried about competitors and regulators. They cared because their workers made them care:
https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/2019/4/4/18295933/google-cancels-ai-ethics-board
Google doesn't care anymore. They don't have to. They're the search company.

The Premium Member
You’ve grown tired of all the familiar fucks and basic twinks on the dating app you normally use, and you’re really in the mood for a new hole to abuse. After searching your phone online you come across an app you’ve never seen before and quickly go to download it.
Upon startup it immediately bombards you with an ad to join their ‘premium service’, no thanks, why would you pay to fuck someone. You close the pop-up without even reading what the ‘benfits’ are. You set up an account and enter all your details into the profile, although some of the required information is slightly abnormal. Intelligence level? You’re assigned an profile ID number, just a string of random figures.
There’s an option at the bottom, ‘premium member matches allowed’. Well why not? If they wanna pay like idiots that’s fine by you. After confirming you are treated to pages and pages of terms of service. Yeah, nobody reads this and you quickly agree without a second thought.
Only a minute passes before ‘premium member match’ flashes up on screen. A profile is pulled up, ‘ScallyDom’ is the username, 22 years old. What the hell? You’re here to fuck an easy hole, why would you be interested in a dom, geez.
Tumblr media
The picture on display is of some smug arsehole with his middle finger pointed at the camera, wow, people go for this shtick? You attempt to close the profile but your phone is completely unresponsive. The ‘agree match’ button lights up and all of a sudden your phone seems to start acting on it’s own volition. A message appears on screen:
ScallyDom: ‘You look like a good fuck.’
‘With some obvious changes, fancy boy.’
‘Can’t believe you willingly agreed to match to premium members, moron.’
Yeah, arsehole was right. You try but you can’t even message back. Instead the screen scrolls down without your input, almost like, well almost like he has control of…. Fuck.
You immediately go to turn your phone off, nothing. What the hell, this guy’s somehow hacked your device? He scrolls to an entry titled ‘edit profile’ and all of your information is pulled up in front of you.
ScallyDom: ‘Look at this bellend, think you’re all that huh?’
‘A top? Yeah right mate, you look more like a bottom bitch to me.’
‘Let’s fix you :p’
As if he couldn’t get more insufferable. The first detail he selects is cock size, a drop down menu appears, ‘Large’ is currently selected.
ScallyDom: ‘This doesn’t work for me. You’re gonna be taking dick, fuckwad. You don’t need much down there.’
He selects ‘Small’ in the menu and confirms the change. Hilarious, you think; a real preschool level mentality here. A second passes and you feel an embarrassing twinge in your downstairs area. What just happened? Nothing, there’s no way anything happened you tell yourself. You do however open your trousers and pull down your underwear. Fuck. You visibly see your cock begin to shrink before your very eyes. This can’t be real, it’s not possible.
ScallyDom: ‘How you like that princess, is your little nub getting hard yet?’
A submenu appears. Caged: Yes.
click
You immediately look back down… there’s a pink chastity cage casing your once large dick. Your balls are pulled taut and you can’t help but feel yourself throb. Time for drastic measures you conclude, lifting your phone. You prepare to throw it and end this when…
ScallyDom: Trigger: attentive mode. Open camera.
You suddenly lose all control of your arms and your phone is brought back up to your face, the camera activates.
ScallyDom: ‘Hey there pretty boy. Don’t look so upset, won’t be long and you’re be fit for purpose’.
Despite your best efforts you can’t move, you’re stuck sat there, looking gormless into your phone camera. Your tiny dick twitches again in its restraints. When you get your hands on this guy… The screen starts moving again and settles on age. You watch as the age ticks down to 19 years old. The screen then switches over to the camera, and there you are staring back.
Your whole face begins to tingle and then a burning heat takes over. It’s almost like your body is being re-molded. Your muscles deflate until you have a decidedly slender, feminine looking body. All of the imperfections are seared from your face. As your new appearance takes shape it becomes obvious that this isn’t a young version of yourself. Unbeknownst to you ‘ScallyDom’ has uploaded an image for your new face to match. Frankly, you look like a doll. The sort of face you’d see when applying 15 filters to an image. If you were on the other end, you’d fuck this face. Unfortunately, this is apparently you now.
ScallyDom: ‘Still think you’re going to be fucking anyone with a face like that? You’re designed to take cock.’
Your lips begin to puff up and pull forward, now stuck in a perpetual ‘duck face’ pout. He goes back into the options and highlights ‘Butt status’. As a top you currently have ‘virgin hole’ selected. He quickly changes that and settles on ‘experienced hole’. You have got to be joking! Immediately the sensation of your cheeks parting presents itself. You squirm in your seat as your hole opens up invitingly. You feel a gaping, empty hole back there. Briefly the thought of it being filled enters your brain. Something, anything needs to fill that void.
ScallyDom: ‘Should be capable of accommodating me now, cocksleeve.’
‘Bet you’re feeling pretty hungry at this point lol.’
You’d love for him to be wrong but you can’t deny how horny you’re feeling, it’s like your new body is designed to take cock. At some point he had changed your clothes, a fluorescent pink crop top with the words ‘I’m on bottom’ didn’t really scream subtlety. A skimpy pair of booty shorts left barely anything to the imagination. Even the guys you went for weren’t this blatantly desperate and basic, you’re like a ‘fuck me’ sign walking.
Tumblr media
He doesn’t hesitate to move to several new options, Butt size: ‘Bubble’ and Hair: ‘Buzzcut Fade, Blonde. No body hair.’
The hair on your head begins to recede back into your skull until there’s a couple of millimetres left on top. It lightens until it’s a stark platinum blonde. Great, people are going to assume you’re a ditzy airhead. The rest of your body smooths out completely, your skin is becoming much more sensitive. Your butt tingles once again as it begins to ballon out from behind you. Leaving a nice round cushion that jutts out noticeably, like a shelf. A moan escapes your pouty lips and your face turns red from embarrassment. You look like a twink through and through. This has to end soon, everything will go back to normal you repeatedly try and convince yourself.
ScallyDom: ‘Can’t wait to fuck that face, mate. Bet you’re still convinced you’re a top right?
You don’t like the sound of where this is going. Your ‘Top’ status is highlighted. No, there’s no chance in hell you’re ever going to bottom anyone, especially this cocky dirtbag. ‘Slutty bottom’.
Fuuuckk, you feel so empty. Something is missing from your life, well cock obviously. Your thoughts all shift at once, like you’ve just arrived at the wrong floor. The slut floor. Your hips begin to gyrate slowly. Once again you moan, but this time you don’t try and hold back. Your voice seems to be higher.
ScallyDom: ‘A bitch in heat if I’ve ever seen one. Lets start wrapping things up.’
You’re too busy thrusting your little nub to even bother reading his message. Internally you’re trying to pull yourself together, but your new desires are getting the better of your logical thoughts. Speaking of… Intelligence level: ‘Above average’ is replaced by Below average on a sliding scale, and gets dangerously close to ‘Poor’.
You giggle. This app is sooo confusing. Your head fills with pink cotton candy. Pink like your little cage. You giggle again, just like a schoolgirl. Can’t this guy just fuck your brains out already, gawd. Your eyes dilate and go vacant, your mouth opens slightly.
ScallyDom: ‘You’re made for fucking, not thinking boy toy. Don’t worry though, you got me to help you.’
This guy is like, so mean. Just because you’re a ditzy slut doesn’t mean you don’t have standards, although you bet his cock is pretty juicy. He goes into your relationship status on the app, listed as ‘single’. Several different choices appear, one of which scares you: ‘owned’. Please…anything but that.
‘Owned’ is selected and a second entry opens to type in the owner. Your new master types in his name and your whole world view begins to shift again. At one point you thought him to be a jerk, but all of a sudden he’s the centre of your world. You’d do anything for your sexy master, and you feel honoured to be his.
ScallyDom: ‘You’re now my legal property cocksleeve. Like a chair or a table. Not so high and mighty now, fucking dunce.’
He’s only stating facts, you agree. You are pretty dumb, but that’s okay. Master knows what’s best anyway. Your name is erased from the profile and is replaced by Cali. Immediately it’s like your old name is deleted from your memory. You desperately try to recall what it used to be, but you can only ever remember being known as Cali. It’s probably much cuter than your old stuffy name anyway, Cal-ee. It’s also easy for you to say, long names are like, so hard.
He reaches the end of your profile page and presses ‘save changes’. A warning screen appears:
‘Caution, changes are not made permanent until match is tagged in person by premium member.’
There’s a rush of relief in the back of your head. A small part of you is desperately clinging on to your old identity. Though, It’s becoming so hard to think of anything else other than being mercilessly fucked by master.
ScallyDom: ‘disable attentive mode’.
You feel control coming back to your body.
‘We need to get you fixed, come to this address.’
Fixed? That sounds good, you’d like to be fixed. Wait, wasn’t there a reason you didn’t want to see him in person? But how could you refuse, he was your master after all. Your fingers begin typing.
Cali: ‘Yes sir.’
ScallyDom: ‘Good boy’.
The praise sends a shiver of pleasure down your spine. Without a thought you get up and leave for his flat.
His place isn’t exactly in the best part of town, what do they call it again? A council place… flat. You’re standing in front of his door with this nagging feeling that you should turn around and leave. This might be your last chance.
Before you can consider that, the door flings open and your brain turns to white noise at the sight of your master. You can’t even speak, you just stand there pathetically. Gawd, he’s hot in his tracksuit, you stare at a noticeable outline snaking down his leg.
“Get’in.” He orders and you don’t hesitate to obey, trailing behind him as leads you into the flat.
A rather potent smell hits your nose immediately, it’s like walking into a locker room; a mix of sweaty feet and, ugh, cum… Focus! You need him to fix you, ask him to turn you back. Back to what, you’re not entirely sure but that annoying voice in the recess of your head seems insistent on it.
“Need fix.” You squirm.
“Did I say you could fuk’ing speak fag!” He grabs a hold of your shoulder.
“Sorry sir.”
“Hav’ ya fix right here”
He pushes down on you and you feel your body lower with little resistance. He stops once you are on your knees, eye level with his crotch. He pulls on the waistband of his trackies and his 8 inch cock springs loose. His own ‘premium member’. If you were a cartoon character, you imagine this is where your eyes would fly out of their sockets with heart shapes. Instead you have to settle with looking cross-eyed at his fat member while your mouth salivates.
“Let’s put one of these holes to use.” His hand moves to the top of your head as he holds you in place.
With his other hand he begins to guide his cock towards your waiting mouth, it slips between your plump lips and continues effortlessly until it hits the back of your throat. Your mouth is now brushing up against the dusting of hair on his crotch. He holds the position for a few seconds as his strong musk invades your nose.
Without hesitation he quickly pulls back and then all the way back in. Out, in, out in. His hips move like a jackhammer, your eyes watering. Your head remains held in place as he forcefully fucks your mouth hole, making sure you take the entirety of his dick with each thrust. The thoughts in your head grow even thicker, dislodged, as if he is literally fucking your brains out. This isn’t quite the ‘fix’ you had in mind. However, your caged dick isn’t complaining, as it dribbles continuously into your pants.
“Better get ready to swallow!” He grunts from above you.
His thrusting picks up in pace, your face beginning to feel like a receptacle for his dick. He pushes all the way in one last time and holds it as his cock explodes. Load after load is flooded into your mouth, you start to swallow, the creamy liquid gliding down your throat. It’s like sucking on a particularly thick milkshake, although this tastes even better. You can let yourself enjoy this once, then we can get back to fixing things, the voices in your head negotiate.
He pulls out with a plop, dripping his juices onto the floor. You make sure to clean up every drop, without even being asked.
“Fuck, you’re a natural cocksleeve. What are you?” He asks as you look admirably up at him.
“Umm……cocksleeve.” Don’t giggle, don’t giggle.
*Giggle*
It was like trying to hold back a hiccup.
“Haha, god’s your dumb.” The laugh cuts straight through you.
There’s a puddle forming beneath you as your nub continues to leak shamelessly. Your master pulls you to your feet, he’s so much taller than you.
“Need to be tagged ho. Lets see that bubble butt of yours.”
There was something about being tagged earlier, tagged was bad? It was so hard to remember, maybe that was the fix. Hopefully it would clear up this thick cotton stuffing your little head. You drop your clothes, a thin line of pre hangs from your pink cage. You put your hands on your lower legs and bend forward so your butt sticks out towards him. Master pulls out a small device, it looks a bit like a price gun.
“Should hav’ read those terms of service, you are now mine fuck slut.”
Master always has the best names for you, but you have no idea what he’s talking about. He seems happy so you smile dimly.
The device is held against your lower back, just above your jiggling butt. There’s a whine and a minor stinging sensation. The device is pulled away, revealing a series of numbers lasered into your skin. It’s your profile ID number from the app. Your brain clicks, like a key being turned. In an instant that annoying little voice is silenced as the cotton covers all your thoughts.
“Oh thuck, maaaaster!” You whine in your effeminately high voice.
Your caged dick spurts the floor; your old personality ejaculated, nothing more than a pathetically small pool of cum between your legs. You find yourself loudly panting.
“Mouth open, now.” Master spins you around so you are once again facing him.
You open your mouth wide, a metal ring is pushed into your open jaw. He fastens it tight on your head and you close your mouth around it. The ring gag keeps your mouth open in an O shape, saliva begins to naturally gather at the end of your tongue.
Tumblr media
“Me ‘in the footie team got practice tomorrow. You won’t mind if we share you after the game, Cali. The lads tend to get pretty pent up.” Master gives you a cocky smile.
You imagine being passed around by the team in the locker room, them calling you names as you obediently polish their poles from both ends. Their sweaty crotches slapping against your face.
Your tongue lolls out of your mouth and your ass quivers.
You can’t wait.

In her new book, Bad Company: Private Equity and the Death of the American Dream, journalist and WIRED alum Megan Greenwell chronicles the devastating impacts of one of the most powerful yet poorly understood forces in modern American capitalism. Flush with cash, largely unregulated, and relentlessly focused on profit, private equity firms have quietly reshaped the US economy, taking over large chunks of industries ranging from health care to retail—often leaving financial ruin in their wake.
Twelve million people in the US now work for companies owned by private equity, Greenwell writes, or about 8 percent of the total employed population. Her book focuses on the stories of four of these individuals, including a Toys “R” Us supervisor who loses the best job she ever had and a Wyoming doctor who watches his rural hospital cut essential services. Their collective experiences are a damning account of how innovation is being replaced by financial engineering and the ways that shift is being paid for by everyone except those at the top.
In a review of Bad Company for Bloomberg, a longtime private equity executive accused Greenwell of seeking out sad stories with inevitably “sad endings.” But the characters Greenwell selected don’t just sit back and watch as private equity devastates their communities. The book is a portrait of not only how the American dream is being eroded but also the creative tactics people are using to fight back.
Greenwell spoke to WIRED late last month about what private equity is and isn’t, how it has transformed different industries, and what workers are doing to reclaim their power.
This interview has been edited for clarity and length.
WIRED: What is private equity? How is the business model different from, say, venture capital?
Megan Greenwell: People confuse private equity and venture capital all the time, but it's totally reasonable that normal people don't understand the difference. Basically, the easiest way to explain the difference is that venture capital firms invest money, usually in startups. They’re essentially taking a stake in the company and expecting some sort of returns over time. They're also generally playing a significantly longer game than private equity.
But the way private equity works, especially with leveraged buyouts, which is what I focus on in the book, is they're buying companies outright. In venture capital, you put your money in, you're entrusting it to a CEO, and you probably have a board seat. But in the leveraged buyout model, the private equity firm really is the owner and controlling decider of the portfolio company.
How do private equity firms define success? What kinds of companies or businesses are attractive to them?
In venture capital, VCs are evaluating whether to make a deal based solely on whether they think that company is going to become successful. They are looking for unicorns. Is this company going to be the next Uber? Private equity is looking to make money off of companies in ways that don't actually require the company itself to make money. That is like the biggest thing.
So it’s less of a gamble.
It is very hard for private equity firms to lose money on deals. They're getting a 2 percent management fee, even if they're running the company into the ground. They're also able to pull off all these tricks, like selling off the company's real estate and then charging the company rent on the same land it used to own. When private equity firms take out loans to buy companies, the debt from those loans is assigned not to the private equity firm but to the portfolio company.
And so what you end up getting is that private equity is really attracted to companies where you don't have to play the long game. In fact, you don't want to play the long game, which means that you have no interest in doing the hard, slow work of improving a company's fundamentals. It is just not about improving the company at all. It is about, how do we extract money?
How did we get to this point where private equity is now taking over relatively large and diverse swaths of the economy, including veterinary clinics, brick-and-mortar retail stores, and all sorts of other businesses. What was the promise of this model?
Private equity started pretty small in the 1960s with what were then called “bootstrap deals,” essentially acquisitions of small, family-run companies that maybe showed promise for expansion but didn't have the capital necessary to grow. So in some ways it was more like venture capital, although it targeted established companies and not brand-new startups. This idea of growth at all costs then just expanded and expanded and expanded and started swallowing more and more and more things.
When did private equity start to peak?
There was a huge expansion of private equity in the 2010s for the same reason that venture capital exploded: There was a lot of cheap money out there, and cheap money is great for investors. We’ve seen private equity explore more industries over time, and usually that's because some policy change or broader economic trend all of a sudden makes a certain sector look like fertile ground for them.
What are some of the strategies that workers have used to fight back against private equity firms? Have they been successful?
What was interesting to me was not prescribing solutions but talking about what people are doing. The four characters in my book are all trying to do something about this in very different ways, and those range from fighting for regulation, to just going head-to-head directly with the private equity firm that upended their own life, to really trying to reinvent their industries from the ground up, which is something that is especially inspiring to me.
Do you have one that has stuck with you more than the others?
One example that I’ll talk about from the book is from the Toys “R” Us section. Public pension funds are a huge source of capital for private equity firms, and they typically have worker representatives on their boards. So if they're representing teachers and nurses and firefighters, there will be one or more people working in those professions serving on the pension fund board.
Toys “R” Us workers had this very smart idea that those folks would be more likely to be sympathetic to their cause than a bunch of billionaires would. So they started going around the country, standing in front of these pension fund boards and saying “here is how these private equity firms that you invest in have blown up our lives,” talking in really specific detail about things like how they couldn’t find jobs and were worried about feeding their families. The protagonist of that section of my book tells a story about how the members of one board just started peppering her with questions after she spoke in front of them.
Some people claim that private equity firms are the primary culprit behind broad economic problems such as income inequality and the housing crisis. Are they putting the blame in the right place?
I think by putting all of the blame on them, you end up undermining the criticisms about private equity firms that are more truthful. This is something that I thought really hard about how to do in the book, because I do think it's a mistake actually, but also strategically for people who want to see this system change, to attribute too much to them.
Right.
The first section of the book tells the story of how the four industries I write about—housing, hospitals, retail, and local media—got themselves into trouble in the first place. In all of those cases, the problems are so fundamental. And in many of those cases, the earlier business decisions were so bone-headed that they essentially opened the door and invited private equity to walk right in. I do think private equity is a villain in terms of the way they have taken advantage of these industries for their own gain, but it is absolutely true that they did not cause the problems.

Don Moynihan at Can We Still Govern?:
Members of the DOGE network rarely offer thoughtful accounts that depart from the Musk narrative (government is broken, full of talentless hacks, DOGE is fixing things). So I was interested to see a DOGEr express genuine circumspection. This came from Sahil Lavingia, a startup founder, who was interviewed by Ernie Smith about his experience with DOGE. Lavignia left his start-up, Gumroad, to join Veteran’s Affairs. Here is the key passage:
[Now that he’s there, he says he finds himself surrounded by people who “love their jobs,” who came to the government with a sense of mission driving their work. “In a sense, that makes the DOGE agenda a little bit more complicated, because if half the government took [a buyout offer], then we wouldn’t have to do much more,” he says, implying software can replace departing employees. “We’d just basically use software to plug holes. But that’s not what’s happening.”…when it comes down to it, what he’s found is a machine that largely functions, though it doesn’t make decisions as fast as a startup might. “I would say the culture shock is mostly a lot of meetings, not a lot of decisions,” he says. “But honestly, it’s kind of fine—because the government works. It’s not as inefficient as I was expecting, to be honest. I was hoping for more easy wins.”]
For anyone with a modicum of experience studying or working in government, nothing Lavignia discovered is novel. Public servants care about public service! There is not really that much waste in government! There are too many meetings and decisionmaking is too slow! Indeed, sir! All true! To his credit, Lavignia was willing to acknowledge his prior beliefs were wrong. That is a hard thing for any human to do, and something I have not seen from any other DOGE official, certainly not Musk. The exception offers insight to the rule: DOGErs simply don’t understand the government they are destroying, and are unwilling to learn.
DOGE could have learned a lot by just talking to public employees
This sounds obvious to say, but people handed extraordinary power that affects the lives of others should know what they are doing. If they don’t know important stuff, they should want to learn it before exercising consequential decisions. But DOGE has failed to meet even these banal standards. A trademark of DOGE was the toxic combination of arrogance and ignorance. Some DOGE members have real and impressive achievements, some do not. But all of those achievements are in the private sector. They know almost nothing about government except conspiracy theories from the internet, or negative interactions with the regulators who oversee their businesses. They did not understand where government spent its money, and that it was not full of waste. They could have talked to career public employees or nonpartisan government experts. But they didn’t because they did not want to know. Their closest advisors about how government worked were partisan ideologues who want to upend the constitution, Stephen Miller and Russ Vought. Random X posters seem to have more input on the fate of USAID than any policy experts.
This arrogance has had real consequences, including half-assed administrative changes. DOGE ignored their own pick to run Social Security when he told them that their fraud numbers were wrong. They insisted on administrative changes to detect fraud in SSA phone calls. As Natalie Alms reports, the result was that they found two cases of probably fraudulent phone calls out of 110,000. (Or a fraud rate of 0.0018%). But the extra checks they put in place to chase the phantom fraud were not costless: they slowed the processing of retirement claims by 25%. Why did SSA employees not resist the change? According to a former senior SSA official: “People lacked the fortitude to tell DOGE there was no fraud because they were afraid to lose their jobs. They knew there was no fraud.” It’s not just that DOGE was unwilling to listen: they would fire anyone willing to speak up.
A missed opportunity
A lot of people really wanted DOGE to succeed, or more specifically, they wanted the idealized version of DOGE — smart tech folks disrupting bureaucracy — to succeed. This includes me: when I warned that DOGE would be a disaster right before the Trump inauguration, I felt real ambivalence. Was this just my natural cynicism? Just a couple of days later Will Oremus in the Washington Post asked me, Jen Pahlka and Bridget Dooling to make the case for the best and worst case scenarios for DOGE. Needless to say, the worst case scenarios proved more accurate, and even understated the case, but it was not hard to imagine how things might go well. [...] There are lots of things DOGE does not get about how to manage in the public sector. This overview of the senior talent that DOGE has pushed out of government is simply an extraordinary indictment of it’s incompetence. But there is one particular type of knowledge that DOGE really missed out on which is unforgivable: how tech works in government. Some of those who wanted DOGE to succeed were government technologists, frustrated at the slow pace of change they saw during their time in government. Many were ready to welcome fellow technologists with the influence to transform government. But they were isolated, ignored, fired or resigned. In doing so, DOGE missed their best opportunity to actually live up to their brand as tech disruptors who could fix things. Now, their brand will be the tech bros who broke government. The civic tech movement in the federal government was a decade old when DOGE arrived (the US Digital Service and 18F were created in 2014). I have been tracking the evolution of civic tech, because I think it represents one path for the future of American government. That path could have merged with DOGE, creating a single broad vision of tech-driven change in government. Instead, in now offers a competing vision. I think its worth unpacking some of those differences in a bit more detail. [...]
DOGE’s undemocratic workarounds will fail
There are a couple of big differences between DOGE and civic tech. One is motivational. The civic tech movement is, broadly, driven by prosocial motivations. They believed that government it slow and unwieldy, but that at some basic level it remains a fundamental means to help a lot of people. If you believe that, it makes sense to work at making the structure of government function. It make sense to invest time in building cool products that can be iterated and improved upon over time (Direct File is a good example).
DOGE mostly believes that government is irredeemably broken, wasteful and fraudulent. If you believe that, it makes sense to downsize government as much as possible, and contract out what you cannot. It makes sense not to build cool products (DOGE killed Direct File) but to build AI that cuts the humans out of the process and automate as much as possible. The fact that DOGE claims about fraud have proven to be erroneous should be a huge red flag about how the assumptions that will be embedded into their AI builds will prove to be wrong in ways that could be catastrophic. The other main difference between DOGE and civic tech was the attitudes to constraints. Both DOGE and civic tech employees would probably agree that government has too many constraints. The civic tech solution was largely to find ways to work with or manage those constraints. This included user guides to “hack your bureaucracy.” The DOGE approach has been largely to ignore the constraints. The Privacy Act of 1974 that civic tech people complained about? Pretend it does not exist. Pursue the type of data pooling for surveilling in the context of an increasingly aggressively police state.
The problem of Musk, and DOGE is not a problem of technological capabilities enabled by data sharing and AI. Those capabilities are here, present in the private sector as well as public. The problem is a governance one: laws that exist to constrain the use of data are being ignored. Writing new laws will not solve the problem of people ignoring existing laws. Civic tech folks complained about their limited ability to shape government. They never had a champion like Musk. But they also largely respected hierarchy and lines of control. Some of the turf issues that occur in any government happened. But the idea of the US Digital Service, rather than the Secretary of the Treasury, trying to appoint the acting head of the IRS is unthinkable. But Musk did so. The idea that a Cabinet Secretary would hand over all operational decisions to 18F would have been considered bizarre. But some Cabinet Secretaries have done this with DOGE. [...] Much of what DOGE is doing is illegal. Much of it will create long-term and lasting damage to America. This is the clearest example of an action that was illegal, anti-democratic, but also sped past any moral grey zones to being deeply evil. Even still, 60,000 tons of food, enough to keep millions from starving, are rotting in warehouses, blocked from release by another DOGEr, Jeremy Lewin. Per an analysis in Nature, up to 25 million people will die because of US cuts to foreign aid. Those who die will be largely the most vulnerable people in their world, their fates decided by some of the most privileged and protected people in the world.
DOGE has been nothing but a disaster to both the tech and government service.

How to Start a Business from Scratch in 2025 – A Step-by-Step Guide for New Founders
Thinking about launching your own business but don’t know where to begin? You’re not alone. In 2025, starting a business from scratch is more accessible—and more competitive—than ever before. Here’s how to do it right.
Tumblr media
🚀 Introduction: Why 2025 Is the Perfect Year to Start a Business
The rules of entrepreneurship are changing fast. Thanks to AI tools, digital platforms, and remote work, building a business from scratch has never been more possible—or more exciting.
But with opportunity comes complexity. The startup world in 2025 is competitive, fast-paced, and constantly evolving. If you’ve got an idea and the ambition to bring it to life, this guide will walk you through how to start a business from scratch—step by step.
Whether you’re launching a tech startup, a local service, or a creative venture, this practical roadmap will help you move from dream to launch with clarity and confidence. Importance of Startups for India’s Economy
Startups play a pivotal role in shaping India’s economy by creating jobs, fostering innovation, and contributing significantly to GDP growth. As of 2022, startups accounted for about 2.64% of employment in the Indian market, highlighting their importance. The government of India has recognized this potential and launched various initiatives, such as the Startup India scheme, to support startup growth through funding, mentorship, and favorable policies. This ecosystem has propelled India into the ranks of top global leaders in innovation and entrepreneurship.
Step 1: Validate Your Business Idea
Don’t build before you validate.
Many new entrepreneurs fall in love with their idea before checking if people actually need it. In 2025, with customer attention at a premium, market validation is non-negotiable.
Here’s how to validate:
Talk to potential customers (online or offline).
Use tools like Google Trends, Reddit, and Quora to check demand.
Launch a quick landing page with tools like Carrd or Webflow and collect signups.
Offer a pre-sale or pilot to gauge interest.
If no one bites, pivot or refine.
Step 2: Do Market Research
Understand your customers, competitors, and trends.
Before spending time or money, study the landscape. What’s trending in your industry? Who else is offering similar products or services?
Use:
Google & YouTube for trend spotting.
SEMrush or Ubersuggest for keyword and competitor analysis.
Statista, CB Insights, or even Instagram/TikTok for emerging consumer behavior.
Find your edge. Your unique value proposition (UVP) is what will separate you from the noise in 2025.
Step 3: Write a Simple Business Plan
This isn’t corporate homework—it’s your action blueprint.
In 2025, your business plan doesn’t have to be 40 pages long. Keep it lean, focused, and useful. Include:
What you’re selling
Who it’s for
How you’ll reach customers
Cost to build/operate
Revenue model (how you’ll make money)
Short-term and long-term goals
Tools like Notion, LivePlan, or Canva Business Plan templates can help make it painless.
Step 4: Choose a Business Name & Register It
Your brand starts with a name.
Make it:
Easy to remember
Easy to spell
Relevant to your offering
Available online (domain + social handles)
Use tools like Namechk, GoDaddy, or NameMesh to check availability. Once chosen, register it in your country or state. In India, use the MCA (Ministry of Corporate Affairs) portal. In the US, check with your Secretary of State’s website.
Don’t forget to buy the domain and secure the social media handles.
Step 5: Handle Legal & Financial Basics
Yes, it’s boring—but skipping it can cost you.
Choose a business structure (sole proprietorship, LLP, private limited, etc.)
Apply for licenses or permits based on your industry.
Open a business bank account.
Set up accounting tools like Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or even Excel if you're bootstrapping.
Separate personal and business finances from day one.
If unsure, talk to a startup consultant or accountant. Step 6 : Choose the Right Business Structure
In 2025, many new founders prefer flexible setups that protect their personal assets and allow easy growth. You can choose from:
Sole Proprietorship (easy, but less protection)
LLP/LLC (more legal protection, preferred for small businesses)
Private Limited Company (ideal for startups looking to raise funds)
Each country has its own rules, so check your local regulations or consult a business advisor.
Step 7 : Build Your Online Presence
If you’re not online, you’re invisible.
In 2025, your digital presence is as important as your product. Get started with:
A clean, responsive website (WordPress, Wix, or Webflow)
Active social media profiles (LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, depending on your audience)
A basic Google Business Profile if you’re local
Email marketing tools like Mailchimp or Beehiiv
Build credibility through consistency, not perfection.
Step 8: Create a Minimum Viable Product (MVP)
Start simple, launch fast.
Whether it’s a physical product, digital service, or mobile app, launch with the minimum set of features needed to test real demand.
Your MVP might be:
A no-code app built with Glide or Bubble
A service offered through DMs and GPay
A prototype product made by hand
Speed is your friend. Launch. Learn. Improve.
Step 9: Start Marketing Early
If you build it, they won’t come—unless you market it.
Use cost-effective methods to start:
Organic social media content
Blogging and SEO (try ChatGPT to draft posts!)
Influencer partnerships or product seeding
Referral programs or giveaways
Cold outreach (emails, DMs, calls)
In 2025, community is currency—build yours early and nurture it.
Step 10: Explore Funding Options (If Needed)
If your startup requires capital, explore:
Bootstrapping (your own savings)
Friends & family
Crowdfunding (Kickstarter, Ketto, etc.)
Angel investors or venture capital
Startup accelerators or incubators
Pro tip: Even if you’re not raising money yet, create a pitch deck. It clarifies your vision and makes you look investor-ready.
Benefits of Government Schemes for Startups1. Financial Support: 2. Tax Exemption 3. Simplified Compliance 4. Easier Public Procurement 5. IPR Support 6. Access to Funding 7. Incubation and Mentorship 8. Mentorship and Skill Development 9. Networking Opportunities 10.Promotion of Innovation
Conclusion: 2025 Is the Best Time to Build. So Start.
Starting a business from scratch isn’t about waiting for the “perfect” moment. It’s about taking the first small step, validating, building smart, and learning fast.
In 2025, you don’t need a million-dollar idea. You need clarity, a problem to solve, and the grit to keep going.

At Euro Company Formations, we help businesses navigate the complexities of EU company registration, offering expertise and guidance every step of the way. This article provides an overview of the EU registration process and the benefits of incorporating within the EU.
Tumblr media
Why Register a Company in the EU?
Register a company in the EU offers numerous advantages:
Access to a Large Market: With 27 member countries, the EU is one of the world's largest markets, providing ample opportunity for business growth.
Favorable Business Regulations: The EU provides clear regulations on trade, intellectual property, and consumer protection, giving businesses a stable environment.
Free Movement of Goods, Services, and Capital: Once established in one EU country, your business can trade freely across the entire EU without additional tariffs or complex regulatory barriers.
Tax Benefits: Many EU countries offer tax incentives and advantages to new businesses, especially those in innovation and technology sectors.
Steps to Registering a Company in the EU
1. Choose Your Business Structure
The EU allows different types of business structures, including Limited Liability Companies (LLCs), Sole Proprietorships, and Public Limited Companies. Choosing the right structure impacts your tax liabilities, personal liability, and reporting requirements. Euro Company Formations can help you select the structure that best suits your business model.
2. Choose a Country for Registration
Each EU country has its own regulations, so it’s essential to choose a country that aligns with your business goals. For instance, Ireland and Estonia are popular for tech startups due to favorable tax regimes and online accessibility.
3. Register Your Business Name
You’ll need to check that your desired business name is available in the chosen country’s commercial register. The name must be unique and comply with any naming conventions.
4. Prepare Required Documents
Most countries require basic documents, including:
Articles of association (company bylaws)
Proof of identity for directors and shareholders
Proof of registered office address
In many cases, you’ll also need to provide proof of funds if starting a capital-intensive business. Euro Company Formations offers services to help organize these documents and ensure compliance with local regulations.
5. Register with Tax Authorities
Once your company is legally established, you must register with the relevant tax authorities for VAT, corporation tax, and, in some cases, employee payroll taxes.
6. Obtain Necessary Licenses and Permits
Depending on your industry, you may need specific licenses to operate legally within the EU. This includes permits for regulated sectors like finance, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.
7. Open a Business Bank Account
Opening a business bank account in the EU simplifies transactions and helps establish credibility. Many banks require proof of company registration, identification of the company's directors, and sometimes even a business plan.

Google Ads Help to Grow Your Buisness
Mastering Google Ads: A Comprehensive Guide
As a leading Digital Marketing Agency with extensive experience in Google Ads, we understand the immense potential this platform offers for businesses of all sizes. Whether you're a small startup or an established enterprise, leveraging Google Ads effectively can be the key to driving growth, increasing brand visibility, and maximizing ROI. In this article, we’ll guide you through the intricacies of Google Ads, from setting up your first campaign to advanced optimization techniques.
1. Introduction to Google Ads
Google Ads is a powerful online advertising platform that allows businesses to reach their target audience through a variety of ad formats. Whether your goal is to generate leads, increase sales, or build brand awareness, Google Ads provides a range of tools and strategies to achieve your objectives.
Tumblr media
2. How Google Ads Works
The Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Model: Google Ads operates on a Pay-Per-Click (PPC) model, meaning you only pay when someone clicks on your ad. This model ensures that your advertising budget is spent on potential customers who are actively interested in your products or services.
Ad Auction Process: Every time a user performs a search, Google Ads runs an auction to determine which ads will appear and in what order. The ad rank is determined by a combination of your bid amount, the quality of your ad, and the expected impact of your ad extensions.
Ad Formats: Google Ads offers a variety of ad formats, including:
Search Ads: Text ads that appear on Google search results pages.
Display Ads: Visual ads that appear on websites within Google’s Display Network.
Video Ads: Ads that appear on YouTube and other video partners.
Shopping Ads: Product-based ads that appear in Google Shopping results.
3. Setting Up a Google Ads Campaign
Tumblr media
Creating an Account: To start using Google Ads, you need to create an account. This involves providing basic information about your business, such as your website and payment details. Once your account is set up, you can begin creating campaigns.
Choosing Campaign Objectives: Google Ads allows you to choose from several campaign objectives, such as Sales, Leads, or Website Traffic. Selecting the right objective is crucial, as it determines how your ads are optimized and where they appear.
Keyword Research and Selection: Effective keyword research is the foundation of a successful Google Ads campaign. Tools like Google’s Keyword Planner can help you identify relevant keywords that your potential customers are searching for. Selecting the right keywords ensures that your ads are shown to the right audience.
Ad Creation and Targeting: Writing compelling ad copy is essential for attracting clicks. Your ads should be clear, concise, and relevant to the user’s search intent. Google Ads also offers extensive targeting options, allowing you to reach your audience based on demographics, location, interests, and more.
Bidding Strategies: Google Ads provides various bidding strategies, including Manual CPC (Cost-Per-Click), Enhanced CPC, and Target CPA (Cost-Per-Acquisition). The choice of strategy depends on your campaign goals and budget. For example, Target CPA is ideal for campaigns focused on generating conversions.
4. Optimizing Google Ads Campaigns
Tracking and Measuring Performance: To assess the effectiveness of your Google Ads campaigns, it's crucial to set up conversion tracking. This allows you to measure actions taken by users after clicking on your ad, such as purchases or sign-ups. Key metrics to monitor include Click-Through Rate (CTR), Conversion Rate, and Quality Score.
A/B Testing: A/B testing, also known as split testing, involves running two or more variations of an ad to see which performs better. This can help you refine your ad copy, headlines, and calls-to-action to improve overall performance.
Budget Management: Effective budget management ensures that you maximize your ad spend without overspending. Google Ads allows you to set daily budgets and adjust them based on campaign performance. Allocating your budget to high-performing campaigns can lead to better results.
Continuous Optimization: Google Ads is not a “set it and forget it” platform. Regularly reviewing and optimizing your campaigns is essential for maintaining and improving performance. This might involve adjusting bids, refining keywords, or updating ad copy based on what’s working best.
5. Common Challenges and How to Overcome Them
High Competition and CPC: In competitive industries, the cost-per-click (CPC) can be high. To compete effectively, focus on improving your Quality Score by creating highly relevant ads and landing pages. Additionally, consider targeting long-tail keywords with less competition.
Ad Fatigue: Over time, users may become less responsive to your ads, a phenomenon known as ad fatigue. To combat this, regularly update your ad creatives and rotate different versions to keep your audience engaged.
Low Click-Through Rates (CTR): If your ads are not receiving enough clicks, it could indicate that they are not resonating with your audience. Improving your ad relevance, crafting stronger calls-to-action, and testing different headlines can help increase CTR.
Budget Management Issues: It’s easy to overspend on Google Ads if you’re not careful. Regularly monitoring your spend and adjusting your budgets based on performance is crucial. Focus on campaigns that deliver the best ROI and reduce spending on underperforming ones.
6. Advanced Google Ads Strategies
Remarketing: Remarketing allows you to target users who have previously visited your website but didn’t convert. By showing them tailored ads as they browse other websites, you can re-engage them and increase the likelihood of conversion.
Using Google Ads Extensions: Ad extensions provide additional information about your business, such as contact details, additional links, or promotional offers. Using extensions can improve your ad’s visibility and performance by making it more informative and appealing to users.
Automated Bidding and Smart Campaigns: Google’s automated bidding strategies use machine learning to optimize your bids in real-time, based on factors like user behavior and conversion history. Smart Campaigns are a fully automated option that can simplify campaign management, especially for small businesses.
Integration with Google Analytics: Linking your Google Ads account with Google Analytics provides deeper insights into user behavior on your website. This data can help you refine your campaigns and improve targeting by understanding how users interact with your site after clicking on your ads.
7. Case Studies and Success Stories
Examples of Successful Google Ads Campaigns: We've seen numerous success stories across various industries where Google Ads played a pivotal role in driving business growth. For instance, a client in the e-commerce sector achieved a 200% increase in online sales within six months by leveraging a combination of Search Ads and remarketing strategies.
What Can Be Learned from Failures: Not every campaign is a success, and there are valuable lessons to be learned from failures. Common pitfalls include poor keyword selection, lack of targeting, and inadequate budget management. Learning from these mistakes can help you avoid them in your future campaigns. So get attach with expertise of Imagency Media Ad Service
Tumblr media
8. Future Trends in Google Ads
Automation and AI in Google Ads: The future of Google Ads is increasingly focused on automation and artificial intelligence. These technologies are enabling more precise targeting and bid optimization, allowing advertisers to achieve better results with less manual intervention.
Privacy Concerns and Regulations: As privacy regulations evolve, Google Ads is adapting by offering more privacy-focused solutions. This includes new ways to target users without relying on third-party cookies, ensuring that advertisers can continue to reach their audience while respecting user privacy.
9. Conclusion
Google Ads remains one of the most effective tools for driving online traffic and achieving business goals. By understanding how the platform works and continuously optimizing your campaigns, you can achieve significant results. As a trusted digital marketing agency, we are here to help you navigate the complexities of Google Ads and unlock its full potential for your business. Whether you're just starting or looking to optimize existing campaigns, our expertise can help you achieve your marketing objectives.

I don't know when this started happening, but it seems like I increasingly cannot get certain medications by just going to my pharmacy anymore. There's a whole bunch of stuff that my doctors now have to (for some reason) route through a "specialty phramacy", which is actually a startup-y online business with a cute little app I have to use, and they take care of both delivery (meaning every time I need my meds I have to add $5 to the price tag in order to tip the delivery guy, since I can't just go to a place and I refuse to not tip) and also they seem to have a lock on insurance pre-approvals, like if my insurance company needs an OK they can't or won't get it straight from my doctor anymore. In June, I didn't deal with any of these companies, just my regular old pharmacy. As of a month later, I have to deal with THREE of these "specialty pharmacies" if I want all my meds, so I have to keep track of different apps and logins for individual scripts basically. And I mean, TWO of these companies are connected to ONE of my doctors, so that's how well this whole thing is going. Here's today's adventure with the latest one of these things:
I get a text message from the actual physical pharmacy (also new to me) compounding my new medication, and the message includes a link to log into the specialty pharmacy so I can pay for the medication and schedule delivery. The specialty pharm is called Nimble. I open the link in a browser and get all the way to the part where I give them my email address "so we can send you your receipt", and I can't go any further because apparently my email address is already attached to an existing account. It wasn't clear to me that I was setting up a new account, I thought I was just completing a transaction...and also I don't remember Nimble, but I guess I must have used them a long time ago, so ok fine, I'll start over and try to log in first. Now the text message link just opens an error page. So I go to Nimble's home page and try to log in from there, and it asks for my email address so it can send me a "magic link". Every single magic link it sends me is preemptively "expired", and it also appears that I'm not actually getting a new one when I request it, it kinda looks like they're just forwarding the first email over and over again? 15 minutes later I receive a text telling me to download the Nimble app, which I REALLY don't want to do just on principle--plus apparently the app shows fucking ads, so they're getting paid to force me to do this--but like, maybe this is the only way to get my medicine? I won't even describe all the complications I had just downloading the app, we can just skip to the part where the inside of the app is exactly the same as the browser version and it is magically sending me the same expired "magic link". So I click into the help chat thing in the app, and I learn that:
Whenever the fuck I used Nimble before, it was under my maiden name. My email address is locked to my maiden name. My current script is under my married name. I am still using the same email address, but there is no technical way to merge the accounts and apparently there is no way for a customer to simply update the spelling of their own name that they use in real life, even though this might have to happen at any time for many reasons including typos. I could have given them my private email address instead of the old one that I give to scammy businesses when I'm forced to, but since WHY THE FUCK would I do that, the solution was for customer service to go into the back end and put a fake email address in my old account, and add my real email address to the new account. No online account I've ever had has been set up like this, where you can't put in your email address or phone number and update something like a password. There was also no way for me to independently enter my name first, even though that is the key unchanging piece of information the way phone/email is normally, and ultimately, there was no way for me to find out what the problem even was without like penetrating to the center of the labyrinth to have it explained to me why I wasn't allowed to get my meds.
I'm on Tumblr like 24/7 and it's obvious that I'm no luddite, but I'm really angry that the whole world has bought into the idea that as long as some system is based on new technology, then it is automatically more efficient and superior to whatever we used to do. This entire experience is NOT superior to me physically walking to my pharmacy and getting all my meds, and it is STILL NOT superior to me calling the physical pharmacy to pay over the phone and book a courier. We need to stop pretending that shit like this is making our lives better just because it feels shiny and new; now it's just like, if I wanna do something totally normal that I'm dependent on doing--like getting drugs that I might need to live as far as all these assholes know--I have to appease some 3rd party alien entity that does not contribute in any way to the success of the process or the quality of the outcome, it's just this random extra burden that takes so long to get through that they should honestly pay me to do it. Because right now I'm fucking sitting here doing this shit like it's my job, and it absolutely is not.
In this case customer service was actually helpful when I finally got to them, but basically they shouldn't have been necessary at all. Everything else about the situation was so fucked up that it reminded me of the single worst customer service experience I've ever had: I used to have a REALLY shitty Lenovo laptop (I didn't realize that "basic" and "simple" now just means "doesn't work"), and one day the Start menu got stuck open. It was fully expanded across my entire desktop, so I couldn't get to any of my shit. I had to spend about an hour talking to a service person who, it turned out, had NO IDEA what I meant by "desktop". I could not get the idea into her mind. I did a screenshare with her and she was like "Yeah I see all your applications, everything is there, what's the problem?" I could not get her to understand that it was INCORRECT for the menu to be permanently open and I couldn't get her to understand what it was blocking. I found myself typing crazy shit like "So the Desktop is like, ya know, it usually has a picture you picked out as the background, and there's little icons for programs you use or stuff you downloaded, there's always the little trashcan thing there..." and she just would not admit that she knew what I meant. It was as if she had never used a computer before. And like I don't even remember how I fixed the problem, I stopped using that machine obviously--but to this very day, there's a part of my brain exclusively devoted to running an endless background process that asks, "What's the best way to describe a computer desktop display to someone who has never seen or heard of one before?"

Virtual Office Address in Andaman & Nicobar Islands
Introduction
Tumblr media
The Rise of Virtual Offices in India
India's digital transformation is doing more than just putting businesses online; it's reshaping how companies operate at their core. Among the many shifts, the virtual office revolution is quietly changing the game for entrepreneurs, freelancers, and startups. Gone are the days when you needed to lease a big office, hire a receptionist, and pay utility bills just to start a company. In today’s digital-first business world, all you need is a laptop, an internet connection, and yes,a virtual office address.
Virtual offices are sprouting across metro cities and Tier-2 towns alike, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands is catching up quickly. Businesses are realising they no longer need a full-time physical office to be legitimate, compliant, or functional. Instead, a registered business address with GST and company incorporation support is enough to operate smoothly.
And guess what? It’s not just for tech companies or remote workers. Even traditional businesses are waking up to the perks of going virtual. Especially with government compliance processes like GST becoming more flexible, a virtual office in a city like Andaman & Nicobar Islands offers the sweet spot between affordability and professional presence.
Why Andaman & Nicobar Islands is Gaining Attention for Business Operations
Andaman & Nicobar Islands isn’t just about the Taj Mahal anymore. With rapidly improving infrastructure, a growing digital ecosystem, and lower operational costs compared to metros, it’s becoming an attractive business hub, especially for startups and MSMEs looking to scale without burning cash.
Andaman & Nicobar Islands offers:
Strategic connectivity to NCR, Lucknow, and Jaipur
A decent pool of skilled professionals
Affordable commercial real estate (even virtual offices!)
Also, with Digital India pushing for online entrepreneurship, Andaman & Nicobar Islands is now on the radar of virtual office service providers who offer professional addresses, GST support, company registration, mail handling, and meeting room access, all at a fraction of the cost you’d pay in Delhi or Mumbai.
What is a Virtual Office?
Definition and Concept
A virtual office is essentially a business address that you can legally use for official purposes, like registering your company, getting a GST number, or opening a bank account, without physically occupying that space full-time. Think of it as a “rented identity” for your business operations.
This setup allows you to:
Use the address on your business documents
Get mail and courier services
Access meeting rooms occasionally
Satisfy statutory compliance requirements (like MCA or GST registration)
So you might be working from home, a café, or travelling around the globe, but as far as your clients, vendors, and the government are concerned, you operate from a prime business location in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Benefits of a Virtual Office in Andaman & Nicobar Islands
Cost Efficiency and Savings
Let’s face it, setting up a traditional office is expensive. Rent, security deposits, furniture, electricity, internet, water, cleaning staff... the list never ends. But a virtual office? It cuts all that fat.
Here’s how you save:
No rent or maintenance fees: You only pay for the address and optional services.
No utility bills: Forget paying for water or electricity.
No hardware or furniture costs: Everything is handled off-site.
This is especially valuable for solopreneurs, freelancers, or early-stage startups with tight budgets. In Andaman & Nicobar Islands, virtual office packages start as low as ₹1,000/month. Compare that with ₹20,000+ for a basic physical office, and you know where the money’s going.
Plus, with the rising remote work culture, investing in a traditional office just doesn’t make sense unless you really need daily space for a team.
Prime Location Advantage
First impressions matter, even if they’re digital. A virtual office in Andaman & Nicobar Islands offers you a prestigious address in key business zones like Sanjay Place or MG Road. These areas are associated with established businesses and professionals, and having your company listed there builds instant credibility.
That professional touch doesn’t just impress clients. It also builds trust with investors, banks, and government departments when you apply for loans, grants, or certifications.
Flexible Work Environment
The freedom that comes with a virtual office is unbeatable. You’re not stuck in traffic or chained to a cubicle. You work from wherever you want and still maintain a legal business presence.
Plus, most virtual office providers offer additional services like:
Hot-desking or meeting room access
Call answering and receptionist support
Courier handling and forwarding
This allows you to maintain structure and legitimacy without sacrificing flexibility. Whether you’re attending a Zoom call from a hill station or networking at a coworking space in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, your business remains fully operational and compliant.
Virtual Office for GST Registration in Andaman & Nicobar Islands
GST Registration Requirements
Getting your business registered under GST is no longer optional; it’s a legal necessity if your turnover exceeds the threshold (₹20 lakhs for service providers and ₹40 lakhs for goods providers in most states). But here’s the catch: the GST portal requires a valid business address proof, and that’s where virtual offices come into play.
To register for GST, you typically need:
A valid business address
Address proof documents like a rent agreement or NOC
Utility bill for the address (usually not older than 3 months)
PAN and Aadhaar of the proprietor/director
Bank account proof
Digital Signature Certificate (for private limited companies)
Now imagine you’re a freelancer or small business owner who operates entirely online. You don’t want the hassle of renting office space. That’s where a virtual office address in Andaman & Nicobar Islands becomes your secret weapon.
A reputed virtual office provider will give you:
Rent agreement in your business name
No Objection Certificate (NOC)
Utility bill (usually electricity or water)
These three are key for GST registration. The best part? It’s fully legal and widely accepted by GST authorities across India, including in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Why Virtual Office is Ideal for GST Registration
You’re probably wondering, will GST officers accept a virtual address? The answer is YES, as long as the paperwork is valid.
Virtual offices are accepted by:
GST departments for new and migrated registrations
Chartered accountants and tax consultants
Startups looking for quick registration
In fact, many D2C brands, dropshippers, consultants, and ecommerce sellers use virtual offices to expand into multiple states. Want a GST registration in Uttar Pradesh without moving to Andaman & Nicobar Islands? Just get a virtual office address and apply.
Benefits of GST registration include:
Fast turnaround time (some providers deliver documents in 24–48 hours)
Minimal documentation needed
Legal compliance guaranteed
Saves you from renting a physical office just for GST
Also, you can scale faster, get a virtual office in multiple cities for state-wise GST numbers and grow pan-India without burning cash on real estate.
Documents Required for GST with a Virtual Office
Here’s what you need to get your GST number using a virtual office address in Andaman & Nicobar Islands:
From Virtual Office Provider:
Rent Agreement (in the company’s name)
NOC (No Objection Certificate)
Utility bill (not older than 3 months)
From Your Side:
PAN card of the business or proprietor
Aadhaar card
Photographs
Bank statement or cancelled cheque
Digital Signature (for companies)
Business proof (like an incorporation certificate or a partnership deed)
Once submitted, verification takes around 7–10 working days. Sometimes, the officer may visit the address to verify (rare but possible), so make sure your provider is genuine and allows site access if needed.
Virtual Office for Company Registration in Andaman & Nicobar Islands
MCA Compliance with Virtual Office
When you’re registering a company, be it a Private Limited, LLP, or OPC (One Person Company), the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) mandates a valid address proof. This becomes your Registered Office Address, and it’s publicly displayed on the MCA portal.
Guess what? You don’t need to rent a full office for that. A virtual office address from Andaman & Nicobar Islands fulfils all MCA requirements.
The provider gives you:
Rent/lease agreement (with your company name)
NOC from the property owner
Utility bill (as address proof)
These documents are uploaded during SPICe+ Form filing while registering your company. And yes, MCA accepts these documents if they’re authentic.
This is a huge advantage for startups and remote-first companies that don’t need physical space but still want to register a company professionally.
How Startups Benefit from a Virtual Address
Startups love virtual offices. Why? Because in the early stages, every rupee counts. By using a virtual office, you save thousands in rent and operations and channel that money into marketing, development, or hiring.
Other perks:
Appears more professional to investors and customers
Reduces operational complexity
Enables compliance with government rules
Allows incorporation in a prime city like Andaman & Nicobar Islands while operating remotely
For example, a SaaS startup with developers working from Jaipur can register their company in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, where virtual offices are cheaper and less competitive than in NCR cities.
Even better? You can later upgrade to a coworking space or physical office in the same city if needed, no change in city or ROC jurisdiction required.
Required Documents for Company Incorporation
To incorporate your company using a virtual office address in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, you'll need:
From Virtual Office Provider:
Rent Agreement (Company Name)
Utility Bill (Water/Electricity)
NOC (from owner)
From Your Side:
Identity proof (PAN, Aadhaar, Passport)
Passport-sized photo
Director details
Company name options
MOA & AOA (Memorandum & Articles)
DSC (Digital Signature)
The process is straightforward:
Choose a virtual office provider.
Collect documents from them.
Submit incorporation forms to MCA.
Get your CIN and you're ready to go.
With a reliable provider, your business can be up and running in less than 15 days, without ever stepping into a traditional office.
Types of Businesses That Can Use Virtual Offices
Freelancers and Consultants
Freelancers are among the biggest beneficiaries of virtual offices. If you're a graphic designer, content writer, digital marketer, or consultant, chances are you're working from home or coffee shops. But when it comes to:
Raising invoices
Getting GST registered
Looking professional on LinkedIn
Pitching to bigger clients
You need a business address. A virtual office solves that instantly.
It gives you:
A commercial address in Andaman & Nicobar Islands
Mail handling, so you don’t miss important parcels
A boost in credibility and professionalism
Some virtual office plans even offer call answering services, so clients never feel they’re dealing with a one-man team, even if they are.
E-commerce Startups
Online sellers, Amazon and Flipkart vendors, and dropshippers often face this challenge: how to get a GST number without a warehouse or shop?
A virtual office is the perfect answer:
Register your business
Get a GST number
Sell across India
In fact, some virtual office providers in Andaman & Nicobar Islands are specially tailored for ecommerce sellers, offering warehouse tie-ups, logistic integration, and invoice support.
It’s cost-effective, scalable, and flexible, perfect for a business that lives online.
Remote Teams and Digital Nomads
The future of work is remote, and virtual offices are its backbone. If you’re running a fully distributed team, maybe your marketing guy is in Kolkata, your developer in Bengaluru, and you’re in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, you still need a legal HQ.
A virtual office becomes your central hub:
All official communication is routed here
You can hold client meetings in professional settings
Your team stays remote, but your business stays compliant
For digital nomads, it’s even better. Travel the world, work from anywhere, and maintain a strong business presence back home in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Why Smart Small Businesses Are Pairing CRM with ERP—and How It’s Done Right
Tumblr media
In today’s fast-evolving digital economy, small businesses face increasing pressure to compete with larger enterprises while maintaining lean operations. That’s where the synergy between Cloud CRM Solutions and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) comes into play. By integrating these two powerful systems, small businesses can unlock new levels of efficiency, customer insight, and scalable growth. Learn more at AeyeCRM.
The Power Combo: CRM and ERP for SMBs
Historically, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and ERP systems have operated in silos. CRM focuses on managing customer data, sales, and service interactions. ERP, on the other hand, handles backend operations like inventory, accounting, and human resources. Today, smart small businesses are breaking down those barriers, merging the two to create a seamless flow of information across the organization.
Why Integration Matters
Centralized Data: Unifying CRM and ERP allows all departments to access real-time data from a single source of truth.
Improved Customer Experience: With customer interaction data from CRM and order fulfillment data from ERP, businesses can deliver personalized, informed service.
Operational Efficiency: Automation between front-end and back-end tasks reduces manual entry and errors.
Faster Decision-Making: Real-time reporting from integrated systems enables quicker and smarter decisions.
How Small Businesses Are Making It Happen
Step 1: Choosing the Right CRM and ERP Platforms
Many small businesses start by selecting a cloud-based CRM such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or Zoho. These platforms offer flexibility, scalability, and robust third-party integrations. For ERP, popular options include Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, and SAP Business One—all of which offer cloud deployment options suitable for SMBs.
Step 2: Planning for Seamless Integration
Partnering with experienced Salesforce consulting or cloud solutions firms, like AeyeCRM, ensures a smooth CRM implementation for SMBs. These experts assess your current tech stack, recommend optimal tools, and map out a step-by-step integration strategy.
Step 3: Automating Key Processes
Automation is where the real ROI begins. Integrated systems can automatically update inventory levels when a sale is made or notify finance teams when a quote is approved—reducing delays and manual work.
Step 4: Training and Adoption
Technology only works if your team uses it. Small businesses that invest in onboarding and training sessions see significantly better ROI. A well-integrated CRM-ERP setup can be intuitive and accessible, even for non-technical staff.
Real-World Example: From Startup to Scalable
A startup in Texas offering eco-friendly office supplies recently partnered with AeyeCRM to implement Salesforce as their CRM and integrate it with Oracle NetSuite. The result? A 40% reduction in order processing time and a 25% increase in repeat customer retention within just six months. By leveraging Cloud ERP integration, they turned their fragmented systems into a unified engine for growth.
Benefits Beyond the Basics
Enhanced Forecasting: Integrated systems use historical data and predictive analytics to improve demand forecasting and resource planning.
Regulatory Compliance: With built-in compliance features in ERP systems and audit trails in CRM, businesses are better prepared for audits and data regulations.
Mobility and Accessibility: Cloud-based platforms allow access to business data from anywhere—perfect for remote teams or traveling sales reps.
Common Challenges and How to Avoid Them
Data Silos: Ensure you’re integrating all relevant modules, not just sales and finance.
Poor Planning: Work with experts who understand both CRM implementation and ERP architecture.
Lack of Training: Allocate time and budget for staff training to maximize system adoption.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

CRM focuses on managing customer relationships and front-end processes like sales and support. ERP handles back-end functions like inventory, finance, and HR.

How long does integration typically take?
Depending on the complexity, full CRM-ERP integration can take anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks.
