Winchester Mystery House
San Jose, California
The Winchester Mystery House was built by Sarah Winchester, whose husband William Wurt Winchester invented the Winchester rifle, reports The Early Show correspondent Melinda Murphy.
When both he and their infant daughter died, Sarah, grief-stricken, visited a psychic.
The psychic told her she was cursed by the spirits of all the people killed by the Winchester Rifle, and in order to appease them, she had to move west and build a house for them.
So began the construction of the Winchester Mystery House in 1884 in San Jose, Calif.
Sarah was told that she had to build – and never stop building – a house for the spirits. She bought an eight-room farmhouse, and started to add room after room, until at one point the house was seven stories tall.
The top three fell off after the great San Francisco Earthquake. Sarah thought it was a sign from the beyond and did not rebuild those floors.
Not only was the Winchester Mystery House – all 160 rooms of it – supposedly built for the spirits, but they say it was built with the guidance of ghosts, too.
It’s huge, with 2,000 doors to 160 rooms, and a whole mansion full of quirks.
“We call this the goofy staircase,” says mansion employee Cheryl Hamilton. “There’s 42 steps on here. And it makes seven complete turns. And it’s about 100 feet of walking, but it’s only going to go up nine feet to the second floor.”
For 38 years, room after room was added, destroyed, and constructed again. There’s a staircase that leads to the ceiling. And on the second floor, there’s a door to nowhere.
General manager Shozo Kagoshima is skeptical that there are any ghosts.
However, employee Jack Stubbert says he saw a ghost 15 years ago in a hallway.
“And he turned around. And he looked at me. And he – you know, it was the type of image that was like, looking through a fog,” Stubbert says.
It’s said that Mrs. Winchester would come to the seance room every night and talk with the spirits of the people who had been killed by the Winchester rifle.
According to legend, the spirits gave Sarah Winchester building instructions. That might explain the 47 fireplaces, or the extensive use of art glass, or the reoccurring number 13.
“She used the number 13 wherever she could. Thirteen windows, 13 panels, 13 skylights, 13 bathrooms, 13 steps. Wherever she could incorporate the number 13, she used it,” says Kagoshima.
Did Sarah Winchester know something we don’t? Well, Jack Stubbert now

Change
(alternate title: let me be pretentious)
Tomorrow, we make an offer on a house. A house that is big, that is beautiful, and that we can afford. Tomorrow we make an offer on a house. A house that isn’t the one I grew up in. Not the one I spent 13 of my 18 years of life living in. Not the house with the yellow sitting room, the narrow kitchen with no floor, the cupboard under the stairs packed full of rubbish we don’t use enough to have out. Not the house with the bathroom with no shower. Not the house with my tiny box-bedroom barely big enough for bunk beds. Certainly not the house with a dark green front door and red doorstep. Not the house with the evergreen tree in the back garden, with so many days spent climbing and playing amongst the branches.
This house is white. With windows but no garden. With three bedrooms, a large sitting room and a huge, black front door. It’s beautiful, the view not so much but that’s okay. This house has a skylight, a genuine Victorian tiled floor in the hall, and windows in the wall adjoining the kitchen and the sitting room. This house has high ceilings and concrete stairs (perfect for falling down if you’re as clumsy as I am). It has radiators that work, and shutters that open. It doesn’t have any windowsills. It does have a small, cute window in the sitting room for reasons that - upon looking into the history of the building - make sense. It is a listed building, so planning permission would be needed if we wanted to renovate the attic. It has a pantry-like area with a cupboard that seems somewhat out of place. There isn’t a freezer, or a dishwasher. Nor is there a cupboard under the stairs. There is one bath, two showers, three toilets, and six sinks.
It’s not in the city I currently live in either. It’s not even in a city. More a small, coastal town. It’s commutable to the city, don’t get me wrong, it just takes a half hour car journey (in minimal traffic) or a bus to the nearest town and then a train to the city. It takes an hour and thirty five minutes to commute in to my university. That’s a train and two buses. Then another train and two buses home again at the end of the day. If I want to go out with friends I’ll need somewhere in the city to stay or to leave before the end of the night to catch the last train home. Or even earlier dependent on buses.
Tomorrow we offer on a house. And if that offer is successful I move. I move away from the city I’ve lived in for 13 years and learned to call home. I move away from most of my friends. I move away from my childhood home, which we don’t own. This house has so many memories, both good and bad, but I cherish them all, because they show how much I’ve grown as a person. Because nobody is perfect. But I leave my yellow sitting room, my kitchen with no floors, and my tiny box bedroom where I’ve spent so many nights listening to the rain hitting my window. Where I’ve stayed up all night reading a book and not even regretting it in the morning. Where I’ve cried over heartbreak and loss of friends, where I’ve laughed and learned and loved. Where I’ve sat for three years anxiously awaiting my exam results.
Tomorrow marks the end of an era. Whether or not our offer is successful, it still marks our decision to move. To move on. If our offer is successful, it means that sooner or later someone who isn’t me will be sleeping in my tiny box bedroom. It means that the sitting room might not be yellow anymore. It means that someone who isn’t me will come in through the green front door, and will be living in what is and forever will be my childhood home. I wonder if they’ll find my hidden messages from when I pretended to be a spy - I sometimes still find them hidden about the place. I wonder if they’ll keep the textured wallpaper in my bedroom, which has been a pain for hanging posters on since I got an interest in posters. I wonder if they’ll have pairs of shoes lining the stairs, or if they’ll invest in a shoe rack. I wonder if they’ll put a carpet on my floor instead of the painted floorboards I currently have. I wonder if they’ll love this house as much as I did. As much as I do. I wonder if I’ll ever come back here. I probably won’t, but I’d like to. If we just asked our landlord to sell us the property, would he? Again, probably not. He’s got to make money somehow, and property is his somehow. People who I don’t know will come into my bedroom and paint it. They’ll paint over my childhood. Or maybe they’ll leave it, but I think that might be worse. They’ll come into my home, and they wont be me.
We can’t stay here forever. We shouldn’t expect to stay here forever. Everything changes, from people we love to places we live. Not only that, our tiny little house with the yellow sitting room and the view of the harbour is, in reality, too small for two adults. The walls are so thin I can hear our neighbour’s toilet flush at 8.30 every morning. The house has a garden which has grass, and although that’s good for my cat, it means that when both me and my mother’s mental health is low - as it has been for most of this summer, unfortunately - the grass does not get cut. Foxes see our garden as an extension of the wilderness found further back. Sometimes there are police cars, ambulances, or fire engines whizzing by at any point in the day and night, on more than one occasion there has been a car crash more or less outside my house (on every occasion no one was seriously hurt). We can’t live in this house forever, so why pretend. It doesn’t have enough room for a desk for me now I’m starting university. Nor does it really have enough room for everything I own.
Whatever happens in the coming weeks, my time in my childhood home is coming to an end. Whether or not I stay in the same city, or move outside of it, my time here is almost over. And that’s scary. It’s the end of what I know. But it’s also the start of something unknown. The start of a new adventure. An end is a new beginning, after all. And it’ll be alright, it has to.

Beautiful Homes of Instagram: Santa Barbara
The Beautiful Homes of Instagram series is open to any homeowner that I feel that can inspire others. It truly goes beyond the interiors of their home as it’s also about their story, their talent and the positive that their presence can bring to us. When I invited Elizabeth D Burns from @edbdesigns and EDB Designs, I knew she would inspire many of you, but I have to admit that I also feel moved by her approach to design because it’s not only about how the home looks but also how it makes you feel.
As you look at this Santa Barbara home, you can actually feel Elizabeth’s beautiful personality shine through the pictures and I think this is an example we should all pay close attention to. We should create a home that defines who we are. We should bring into our “world” what we truly love, what truly makes us happy – the colors we love, the materials, the textures. Lets make our home become an extension of our energy. We will live better this way. It’s not a trend, it’s not a style, it’s not a label – your home needs to be you and that’s all.
Here, the homeowner shares more about her home:
“On a family vacation to California 14 years ago, I fell in love with the Golden State and the outdoor lifestyle it afforded. Four years later, I spent 9 months house hunting in Santa Barbara. My husband and I owned a 1920’s traditional stone and stucco cottage in Connecticut at the time. If anyone had told me that I would be living in a mid-century modern ranch home, I would have never believed them!
When I first stepped through the door, I knew I was home. Unassuming and hidden from the street, I was surprised by high ceilings and the abundance of natural light. It was a warm day in March and all of the French doors were open to the outdoors with the 12 foot curtains billowing in the breeze. At 1900 square feet with mountain and distant ocean views, I fell hard. The house had only been on the market for one day! I called my husband in CT and we put in a bid that day. Thank goodness he trusted my instincts! A few months later, the house was ours.
The previous owners, with the help of San Francisco architect Nick Noyes, had done a masterful job of converting a closed dark 50’s ranch house into a bright and airy jewel. However, there were definite changes my husband and I wanted to make. He wanted more usable outdoor space with all the California bells and whistles…redwood hot tub, gas fire pit, and outdoor shower. By pushing the yard out another 15 feet, we had room for all of that and a small kitchen garden. Jeffrey Gordon Smith, of JGS Landscape Design, helped to make it happen!
I turned my attention to the inside. I embraced the California life style and used organic touches to bring the outside in. I added to my collection of ocean themed art to create a gallery wall. Light engineered oak floors replaced the yellow toned older floors and wall to wall carpeting. We added a skylight in the kitchen and bathroom and another window in the office. While I loved the tiny green mosaic tiles in the bath, I wanted a brighter space and that became another project. And of course there was paint…a whole lot of white paint. Benjamin Moore White Dove has been my go to white for many years. I used it on walls, trim, and the wood plank ceiling. It became the perfect canvas for art.
With the large number of commercial aluminum windows and French doors, AND our ever- growing collection of sea glass, it seemed only natural to name our home The Little Glass House. I’ve completely succumbed to the California lifestyle and this house has launched my career as a stylist and also garnered a feature in Coastal Living magazine. It’s tag line when we bought it was “step into the light.” We certainly have!”

The home is surrounded by trees and beautiful plants, which brings some extra sense of privacy and seclusion.

Living Room
Elizabeth’s home feels open, airy and it’s filled with natural light.
Adding Love
I love creating vignettes indoors and outdoors. I am constantly rearranging things in our home and change pillows and throws with the seasons…. Winter and Christmas is all white, sea glass colors and green in spring and I’ve started using blues a bit in summer (I’ve never been a blue person but I won a beautiful blue pillow and it got me started!) Most of the pillows on the sofa are from Indiebungalow – similar here.
Sofa
Living room sofa is the Cloud from RH in sand Belgian Linen – similar here, here, here, here, here.

Many of the accessories are from local shops Porch, Mate Gallery, Botanik, Scout, and the Blue Door.
Paint Color
Paint color is Benjamin Moore White Dove on walls, ceiling and trim.
Wool Wrap Natural Pouf: CB2.
Color Scheme
This color scheme feels beachy without being overly coastal. Some of the coastal painting are from One Kings Lane.
Rug
The round jute rug is from Ballard Designs – similar here, here, here & here (in white).
Barn Door
A white barn door conceals a practical built-in desk with built-in bookshelves that serves as the main home office.
Doors
Drapes in living room were here when we purchased the house. The French doors are almost 12′ high and the owner purchased simple white drapes and then sewed a piece of linen to the bottom to make them fit the tall ceilings. I was thrilled she left them. I’m usually not one for window treatments but on the occasional day that we get some hot weather, it’s nice to be able to close the drapes to keep it cooler. I will be forever grateful to my husband who insisted we put in central air. We don’t use it often but it’s nice when it’s needed!

Dining Room
Dining table and chairs are from RH, the patina of wine and water marks are all us! 🙂
Flooring
Floors throughout are 7.5″ wide engineered oak. The install was a bit of a nightmare in that so many of the pieces were defective with huge knots that we had to pick through every piece and order more. Needless to say, the local company we bought the flooring from is no longer using that vendor! But we are happy with the end result!
Beautiful 7.5″ Wide Engineered Oak Floors: here, here, here & here.
Kitchen
I’m not sure what kind of wood the cabinets are but they had turned a rather orangey color and so I had them painted white. The kitchen tile was existing and I love it! The counters are Caesarstone and the island is 3′ x 6′. The faucet is Grohe, the stove is Viking and the fridge is GE profile. The kitchen is about 18 years old, but with new paint, floors, and a large skylight, it has held up rather well. We used the existing hardware to cut costs.
Kettle: Smeg.
Bread Box: Here (in white).
Durable Cabinet Paint Color
I used Fine Paints of Europe mixed to match the Benjamin Moore White Dove. It is the most durable paint I’ve found but pricey.
Toaster: Smeg.

Counterstools are from Wisteria.
Connection
The kitchen is connected to a cozy and inviting family room with brick fireplace.
Chairs
The two chairs by the fireplace are from Porch – similar here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here & here.

Understand the Features of Top Five Types of Skylights
Skylights have acquired widespread popularity with individuals from all across the globe investing in them every year. They provide access to abundant sunshine and fresh breeze, largely alleviating the dependency on tube lights and air conditioners. Well, in the following write-up, I have chalked down features of a few popular types of skylights so that you could choose one as per varying requirements as well as expectations.
1.      Fixed
According to the experts offering skylights, aluminium frame windows, and a wide range of other outdoor structures, fixed skylight is sealed to the roof, or in other words, do not open for ventilation. It is ideal for the dim areas of the house such as attic and staircase. 90% of the skylight is made up of glass except the borders, which are manufactured using timber or steel.
2.      Ventilated
Ventilated skylight has acquired extensive recognition because it is multi-purpose. It lets in air and light and is perfect for the bathroom and kitchen. Ventilated skylight maintains a consistent flow of air by removing the excess moisture, along with illuminating the spaces it is installed in. You may control it manually or with remote control. Some close automatically when the rain starts falling.
3.      Tubular
Tubular skylight contains a tiny pipe in the shape of tube covered on top with a spherical dome. The diameter of the pipe is somewhere between 10 and 15 inches. The dome collects the light and transfers it to the pipe. The pipe had a mirror with silver finish so that all the light enters the house. This skylight illuminates a space evenly and also often used for specific objects such as aquarium, living wall, etc.
4.      Pyramid
From the name, it could be fairly concluded that this particular skylight is of pyramid shape. It has a primary rafter along with several horizontal purlins. The size of pyramid skylights could be customized as per your needs. Pyramid skylights are considered perfect for huge spaces such as entryways of mansions, hotel lobbies, etc. The seal in between the purlins and glass must be tightened or else the chances of leakage become high.
5.      Barrel Vault
Barrel vault skylights are perfect for the non-residential areas. They cannot be installed in homes because the privacy quotient is quite low. They encompass more than 80% of the roof. Install barrel vault skylights in parking lots, canopies, passageways, educational institutions, hospitals, mall arcades, and industrial complexes, etc.
If planning on purchasing skylights for house, you must contact an authentic provider, who assures quality along with affordability. Be a little aware of the disadvantages of the structure. For example, the installation cost of skylights is much more than the traditional windows. Also, they need to be maintained frequently; otherwise, the dust accumulated over time obstructs the view.

Velux Window FAQ’s
Velux Windows FAQ’s discussed by Guardian UK
Guardian Roofs UK is delighted to announce they are now working in partnership with Velux to supply its customers with supreme quality Velux windows which will transform any room into a light, modern and contemporary space with twice the natural light entering. Our Velux Window FAQ’s will tell you everything you need to know about Velux and how they integrate perfectly with our Guardian Warm Roofs and SIP Extensions.
What is a Velux Window?
VELUX is the worlds leading manufacturer of roof windows, flat roof windows, sun tunnels and roof window blinds. Velux windows are premium quality roof windows that offer many benefits to any room or extension in your home or business.
Over the last 75 years, the VELUX Group products have helped homes and business to create bright, healthy, energy-efficient spaces in which you can live, work, learn and play, using natural light, openness and fresh air.
The VELUX Group have established a global reputation for innovation, manufacturing and delivering better living and working environments for people around the world. Guardian Roofs UK is proud to be one of their key partners and offer a wide range of Velux products and solutions.
Where would you have a Velux Window?
You can have a Velux window or roof light fitted in any room or space which has an external flat or sloping roof. They are perfect in extensions, solid tiled conservatory roofs, roof extensions, hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, lounges, living rooms, dining rooms and snugs, the list is endless and they will double the natural light that enters a room by fifty per cent.
How big are Velux Windows?
The size of the Velux window and how many windows you have fitted in one room will make a huge difference to the natural light that enters. There is a huge range of sizes, options and combinations available and these can be found here. Guardian Roofs UK is an official partner with Velux and can help you with the design, supply and installation of any Velux window.
How small can Velux Windows be?
There are so many Velux window types and sizes to fit all rooms and you can find the options here. Guardian Roofs UK can guide you through your design and give you ideas that you might not have thought of to really open up your conservatory or extension.
Can Velux Windows be fitted into an existing roof or extension?
Velux windows can be fitted into an existing external roof to replace an existing roof window. There are many benefits to having Velux windows fitted and these include; improved energy and thermal efficiency, insulation, ventilation, noise reduction, and they can also be automated so at a touch of a button they can be opened or closed, with sensors so they automatically close if it starts to rain as well as being solar powered. The windows get the power they need from the sun which allows you to open and close them automatically or with a remote control.
What type of roofs can a Velux Window be fitted in?
A Velux window can be fitted in a flat or sloped solid roof bringing in natural light and fresh air to your home or business.
What are the benefits of a Velux Window?
Improved Insulation
Even if your old roof window is in good or reasonable condition it won’t be as thermally efficient as a new Velux window as their technology and manufacturing have come on leaps and bounds. The design of a Velux window has adapted and improved over the years and they are now much more thermally efficient. You will be surprised how much warm air can escape through an older style window and you won’t feel draughts any more when you replace them. A new Velux roof window is double glazed and will keep your room warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer due to its insulated and thermal capabilities.
Thermal Efficiency
Velux windows are double glazed and have excellent thermal efficiency, ensuring the cold air doesn’t come into your property and the warm air doesn’t escape. They also ensure that the warm air in the summer doesn’t get into your home or business, therefore, keeping it cooler inside during the summer. Thermal comfort is vital at home or at work and having a thermally efficient Velux window will reduce your energy bills throughout the year.
Improved Ventilation
Ensuring your home is well-ventilated means there is less risk of condensation and problems arising from damp. Small ventilation openings in windows allow a continuous (but small) influx of fresh air from outside. The Velux vents allow a small amount of air to come in from outside and for the inside air to pass to the outside, this ensures you benefit from the fresh air without your window having to fully open. These vents will remove stale air from your property. freshen the air inside which results in better air quality and thermal comfort. Most of us spend 90% of our time indoors and it is important to breathe in ‘good’ quality fresh air.  According to DEIC, the quality of indoor air influences our:
Comfort: the pleasantness of fresh air is immediately felt when a person enters a building
Health: humidity in buildings can cause illnesses such as asthma
Performance: high-quality indoor air can improve mental performance and general health and well-being
Weather Resistant Seals
Velux windows come with weather-resistant seals ensuring the elements are kept outside, draughts are kept out and your home or business is kept warm and dry.
Increased Natural Light
The new generation VELUX roof windows are the same frame size, however, the glazing is actually bigger, resulting in more natural light entering a room. One roof window alone allows twice the natural light to enter and the benefits are huge.
Boosts vitamin D within our bodies – when we are exposed to natural light (not just direct sunlight) our skin naturally absorbs vitamin D which is a critical nutrient that prevents bone loss and reduces the risk of heart disease, weight gain, and various cancers, as well as general well-being
Wards off seasonal depression – If we live in dark and dreary rooms with no natural light it can make us feel low, tired and generally worn out. Getting as much natural light as possible helps to keep our mood changes at bay, improves our sleep and makes us feel healthier, with much more energy
Improves sleep – the more natural light we are exposed to the better quality sleep we have at night
Reduces health risks of fluorescent lighting – the more time you spend in a source of natural light, the less time you’ll spend in unnatural electric powered lighting which can cause migraines and tiredness
Velux roof windows provide high intensity, direct natural light, making your home or business feel open and airy, resulting in us feeling better and healthier every day.
Being exposed to natural daylight is associated with:
A positive attitude
Enhanced morale
Less fatigue and
Reduced eyestrain
Velux has done intensive research and launched a book providing information and recommendations, tools, metrics and codes for topics like daylighting, ventilation, thermal comfort, acoustics, energy and environment. The Basic Book on Daylight, Energy and Indoor Climate is a useful tool for those of us who are planning to have a house or extension built, or if you work in the construction and architecture industry.
UV Protection
Our bodies need vitamin D which comes from natural sunlight, however, exposing ourselves to too much UVA light from the sun is not good for our bodies and skin so modern Velux roof windows offer even more sun screening benefits than they did before.
Noise Reduction
Velux roof windows protect us from unwanted noise coming inside, they are double glazed, sealed, airtight and insulated and all of these components will make your home or business much quieter.
Cost Benefits
A Velux Skylight with integrated solar energy cells can mean that you qualify for Federal Tax Credit. Velux skylights are an investment and can reduce heating and cooling costs from the extra natural light that enters a room as well as the option to open the window for venting.
High-Tech Safety
Velux offers superior protection against the elements and the newest models have a sensor that automatically triggers the roof-light window to close when it rains. Some Velux models include a remote which allows you to open and close your roof light window when you want to. Velux windows are extremely secure to protect you from any break-ins.
Easier Cleaning
The Velux window chemical coating reacts to UV and starts to break down dirt on the window making it easier to maintain and keep your window clean. Velux calls it an easy clean coating as you can clean the glass with water and without the need for any cleaning solutions. Velux roof windows completely rotate, allowing you to clean the outside glass easily and safely from the inside.
Huge Range
Velux windows come in a huge range of sizes, frames styles, colours, operation, glazing and finishes so there is always a Velux window to suit your home or business. At Guardian Roofs UK we will help you with the design of your windows and offer advice on sizes, the number of windows you could install and the finishes to best suit your needs.
Blinds
Bespoke Velux blinds will fit your window perfectly. They come in a huge range of styles and colours and are easily clipped into your Velux window frame in just minutes without the need for drilling or any DIY.
What are the disadvantages of Velux Windows?
Installation
Due to the size and dimensions of a Velux roof window, you will need a specialist who has the knowledge and expertise to install it for you. Guardian Roofs UK won’t charge you extra for fitting your new Velux windows and one of our expert team will be on hand to install it quickly and efficiently for you.
Is a Velux window self-cleaning?
The Velux window chemical coating reacts to UV which breaks down dirt on the window, making it easier to maintain and keep your window clean. It has an easy clean coating so you can clean the glass with water and no additional cleaning solutions. Velux roof windows completely rotate, allowing you to clean the outside glass easily and safely from inside.
Can you open Velux windows in the rain?
You can have a Velux roof window part open and this allows the fresh air to enter even if it’s raining. You can also have the window closed and the vents open and again this allows the air from outside to circulate inside making your room feel fresh and airy.
Can you fit blinds to a Velux Window?
There is a huge range of Velux blinds which will perfectly fit your Velux window and they easily clip into the window frame meaning there is no need for drilling or any major DIY. There is a huge range of colours and patterns to choose from, from neutral contemporary tones to bright and vivid colours.
Velux Window Blinds Include:
Blackout Blinds
Due Blackout Blinds
Replacement Blackout Blinds
Colour by You Collection
Blackout Energy Blinds
Disney & Velux Goodnight Collection
Venetian Blinds
Roman Blinds
Pleated Blinds
Awning Blinds
Insect Screens
Roller Shutters
Roller Blinds
What types of blinds fit a Velux Window?
The best blinds to fit your Velux window are Velux Blinds as they are made to perfectly fit and they slot into place in minutes rather than having to drill any holes. There is no cutting or trimming required and it rolls up into itself from a hidden track which runs down the side of the frame ensuring it doesn’t hang down when the blind is closed. There is a huge range of blinds, colours and patterns to choose from and one to suit every style and decor.
Can Velux WIndows open automatically?
Velux has released a new smart window system that will automatically open and close roof windows without any input from you. The Velux Active window uses a sensor located inside to detect temperature, humidity and CO2 levels, as well as using an online weather data system. Coupled with intelligent algorithms, the system will determine when the window and blinds or shutters need to be opened or closed. It will work out the best angle the window should be opened to and the duration to ensure your room is ventilated enough. the inbuilt rain sensor detects when the window needs to be closed in case the weather forecast is incorrect. If your room is getting too hot a heat protection algorithm moves the window, blinds and or shutters into the correct position. You are also able to manually open and close your Velux window, blinds or shutters using a remote control or the Velux app. You can also control the position of your window using Siri, it really is that easy.
Who can install a Velux Window?
Velux windows can be tricky to fit so its always best to use a Velux supplier or Velux specialist like Guardian Roofs UK.
Do you need planning permission for a Velux window?
You don’t normally need planning permission for most roof windows and skylights if planning permission for an extension has already been agreed, or if you are fitting a new conservatory roof and want to install Velux roof windows. Be aware that roof windows will need planning permission if they protrude more than 150 millimetres above the existing roof plane.
Will a Velux Roof Window add value to a property?
Adding an extension, renovating a property or replacing a conservatory roof will often add value and having Velux roof windows will be a big selling point to potential buyers. They add energy efficiency to your home, transform a room into a light, modern and contemporary space, with twice the natural light entering, and this will really appeal to most buyers.
What is a Velux Modular Skylight System?
The Velux Modular Skylight System is designed for flat-roofed spaces or buildings. They are specially designed to bring a huge amount of natural light into modern flat roof homes. The modular system can be seamlessly built into the existing design of your home, or integrated into a new design during the planning stages. The Velux Modular Skylight System opens up the inside of your property via the ceiling and is a defining and unforgettable feature.
What are the Benefits of a Velux Modular Skylight System?
Slim profiles allow more natural light to enter a space by reducing the amount of frame
Their curved surfaces minimise shadowing effect
The hidden actuator opens and closes the unit via the remote control or your pre-programmed settings
Roller blinds are supported by thin, free-floating wires to create an invisible effect. Blinds are available in three neutral colours that match any interior
With its build-in VELUX INTEGRA® intelligent system, you control all venting modules and roller blinds directly via the INTEGRA® control pad
Every venting installation is fitted with a rain sensor
What is a Velux Sun Tunnel?
The Velux Sun Tunnel is a circular skylight which extends from the roof through the ceiling and captures the daylight, bringing light to areas that traditional skylights are unable to. They are an amazing addition for darker and smaller areas like; closets, dark hallways, laundry rooms, and bathrooms, taking up minimal space and minimising the heat gain in the summer and heat loss in the winter.
Can I automate an existing Velux Window?
Velux Active with Netatmo is the easy way to automate an existing Velux window. Velux Active uses a sensor located inside to detect temperature, humidity and CO2 levels, as well as using an online weather data system. You can also control the position of your window using Siri, it really is that easy, and you can fit it yourself.
Technical Specification for Velux Windows
(Techincal details are taken from velux.co.uk)
Heat Insulation – Low energy glazing provides reduced heat loss through the window and enhanced indoor comfort.
Solar Gain – In the winter, the heat from the sun entering through the window is a usable solar gain.
Solar Protection – In warm climates and in rooms with large window areas, the sun protective coating provides a better indoor climate during warmer periods. Exterior sunscreen can be installed.
Sound Insulation – A combination of laminated glass and optimal glass thickness provides better sound insulation. Their frame/sash construction and gaskets are equally important in their sound reduction.
Security – Thicker laminated inner glass pane designed to increase resistance to manual attack (burglary).
Energy Balance – The energy balance represents the ability of the roof window to utilise the passive solar gain and keep in the heat during winter and its ability to protect against the risk of overheating during summer. Sunscreen products can further improve indoor balance.
Safety – Laminated inner glass is designed to hold fragments together if the glass breaks. It is recommended that glass units with laminated glass on the inside are used for windows above where people sleep, play or work.
Outside Strength – Toughened outer glass panes make your glazing more resistant to hail, heavy wind and snow loads.
Delayed Fading – Inner laminated glass protects materials behind the glass against UV radiation and therefore delays fading of the materials.
Rain Noise Reduction – The combination of laminated glass and extra thick glass helps to provide a significant audible reduction of rainfall sound. Their frame/sash construction and gaskets are equally important in their sound reduction.
Easy to Clean – The easy to clean coating minimises the cleaning frequency of the outer glass pane and gives you a clearer view when it is raining.
Anti-dew – The anti-dew coating significantly reduces the days with dew on the outer glass pane and thus gives you a clear view.

Ideas that Increase Home Value and What to Circumvent For Home Improvement & Remodeling Contractor In Greenville NC.
Are you a resident of Florida and have second thoughts of living there more years? Do you have plans of changing your address, again? What would you do with your house and property? If so, No Limit Contracting and Design of Greenville, North Carolina’s remodeling contractor offers some unique home improvement and remodeling ideas that can help increase your home value:
 Affordable and Doable Tips
There are simple and feasible ideas that any homeowner can do to make small improvements that would grant them higher return percentages than big and expensive remodeling. These renovations can be done without hiring any professional services and may cost a small amount of hundred dollars only.  Although they are low cost, they can make a huge difference in how your property looks in a big way.
 Tip No.1: Lighting Up
Lighting can impact and improve everything about your house, from its architectural appearance to its color scheme. A quick weekend lighting install could change your entire home. Many people naturally prefer light, airy spaces. A home with an abundance of natural light is typically more welcoming than darker rooms. Light and bright rooms appear larger and emotionally warmer.
For lighting inside the house, many prefer everything from a dimmer switch to the increasingly popular sun tubes which enhance a home's appeal. Sun tubes are less expensive than framing in a skylight and can be used as reflective material to funnel natural light from a globe-capped hole cut in a rooftop down through a ceiling fixture and into a room.
 Tip No.2: Clean Up
Simple as it may seem, cleaning your property can give an immediate return on the value of your property. Keeping up your housekeeping as spic-as-span, both inside and out of the house from garbage, dirt, and strange odors is a must.
 Tip No.3: Fresh Paint
If you’re ready to sell, it’s a good idea to tone down any loud wall colors or wallpaper choices with neutral paint. This allows potential buyers to more easily imagine what they could do with space.
A word of caution, painting affects lighting and if you are on a tight budget then opt for a black and white palette, it will give your house a modern sophisticated look and you will have the guarantee that you can never go wrong with white or black.
Tip No.4: Adding a Sprinkler System
Most homeowners have less foresight in financing a lush landscape that can offer a substantial return on investment during the eventual sale of the property since attractive real estate commands a higher price. Adding a sprinkler system that automatically turns on and off, more uniform lawn growth, and superb landscape curb appeal is a good investment. Sprinkler system allows a buyer to keep a lawn looking good without much work.
 Tip No.5: Landscaping Makeover
Landscaping is one of the top three investments that can bring the largest sales returns. Good landscaping can add 10-20 percent to a home’s value. This includes structural features such as lighting, fences, garden paths, fire pits, and ponds. Completely redoing a property by ripping it down to its studs and building it back up with a more modern design and materials can increase the value of a property.
 Tip No.6: Create Curb Appeal
Curb appeal doesn’t just keep you in love with your home. It can also increase the value of your property as much as 12%. Create a memorable first good impression, where buyers would remember and want their home to look good from the outside. A few strategically placed plants, a new mailbox, outdoor lights or shutters can make your property more inviting. Moreover, a grand entrance with a safe and attractive steel front door. Then, if your house needs the shade, consider an awning or overhang above the door.
 Moderate to Costly Tips
Average to high-cost upgrades or remodeling depends on the extent of the renovation done and the materials chosen. These types of updates have the potential to add significant value to your property:
 Tip No.1: Conversions
Before making your conversions, plan carefully and break it down in detail the cost. Conversion involves lofts and basements to garages, attics, and basements, you can create living space in almost any structure.  Some conversions will not repay what you put into them, so be very careful before making the decision.
 Tip No.2: Aged-people/Transient Boarder Room
Modern-day homeowners are making necessary improvements to their home now and those changes will benefit people of all ages, including senior-aged parents. Have an extra room ready for your aging parents, or even possibly you can make use of it for transient boarders, where you can benefit economically in order to pay your monthly bills. Room rentals are just alternative options for an added income.
 Tip No.3: Extra Buildings
Building an extension is a costly and labor-intensive project that requires architectural considerations as well as electrical consultation, heating, and cooling adjustments, and potential building and zoning permits. Studio-style or single bedroom apartments with small kitchenettes are among the more useful and sought-after building additions, along with detached garages. For sure, extra suites and new spaces can pay off in the long run.
 Tip No.4: Remodel the Kitchen
As per the survey of millennials, a “modern/updated kitchen” topped the list of ideal home features and the most important to more than a third of respondents. The captivation of a large, centralized, and high-tech kitchen holds a lot of effects over first-time homebuyers. This includes a more modern commercialized stainless steel and updated hardware, like modern kitchen faucets and a deep sink.
 Tip No.5: Decks
Family time and spending outdoors in your backyard are much more enjoyable when you have a beautiful, welcoming deck to relax or entertain guests on. A nice deck can make a convincing argument for many first-time homeowners who enjoy the idea of cooking on the grill. Moreover, a well-built wood deck that is looking a bit rough and weathered may only need minor renovation to bring it back to its former glory.
 Special Tip:
Before starting to renovate, make detailed estimates to find out how much the property will be worth after the renovations. After you have the figures for this new value, you need to deduct the price you paid for the home and what you are left with is the maximum price you should spend for the renovation and any soft costs such as holding costs, financing charges, and closing costs if the property will be pending vacant while renovations occur.
 Summary:
Many ideas do add value to your home by renovating and remodeling your property.By working on these projects, either an affordable and doable projects,or moderate to costly, you sure can enjoy the benefits, which improves your family’s quality of life.

Beautiful Biophilic Home With Open Concept Living
Located in Thevakkal village in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, India, The ‘House That Rains Light’ is a beautiful biophilic home designed by LIJO.RENY.architects. The 274 square metre (2950 square foot) property features sky-lit vertical volumes, landscape voids and strategic fenestration to promote cross ventilation in the hot climate. The open concept construction also creates a unique shared living experience, where family members can remain connected even when in different rooms and on different floors. Huge green walls dramatically wrap around the modern façade to form shaded pergolas over a roof terrace. Multiple courtyards bring nature inside of the home, effectively erasing the exterior boundary.
Created for a young couple with two children, the project called for a family oriented home that is fun and free from conventions.
The 209.87 square metre build transcends its footprint with a shaded front yard that serves as not only a parking area, but a sociable sitting area and a play area for the kids. The typical compound wall and gate are dissolved so that play can overflow onto the quiet road when more space is in order for friends and sports. With outside space limited, the garden is pushed to the vertical plane with climbing vegetation over towering frames, which also construct shade and privacy.
Inside the home, bright colours create a buzz against the neutral structure in the form of modern furniture and coordinated decor elements.
Courtyards spring up from beds situated all around the living space to create a multi spatial and sensory experience for the homeowners’ children to thrive in.
Striped floor tiles create an ongoing motif throughout the home. The tiles set an unusual and permanent colour zoning technique, as the rest of the furniture in the vicinity follows suit with colour coordinated finishes, trims and fabrics.
The family wanted their home to show individuality and character, without overcomplicating or encroaching upon their simple living ideals.
Even though the entire main floor is open plan, the skylit courtyards break apart the visual to create interesting nooks and pathways.
The yellow accent colour is left behind at the lounge area, whilst a bright red colourway takes over the dining area.
The striped floor tiles switch hue to match the modern dining set.
A green table centerpiece harmonises with the surrounding plant beds.
The one wall kitchen stretches out behind the dining area, leading toward a shaded utility. An elongated window stripes along the backsplash, bringing in the flip side of the façade’s vertical garden.
A home workspace tucks into one end of the kitchen run, where it benefits from dual aspect windows.
Glossy white wall cabinets melt away into the white walls of the space, whilst industrial grey units weight the base.
Sunlight and moonlight rain down from the three perforated skylights.
The interior atmosphere changes with the time of day, the weather and the season as the streaks of light vary in length and intensity.
Upstairs, the towering fronds that shoot up from the landscape pockets tickle two facing bedroom balconies.
There is also another open family space on the first floor, which leads to a bathroom on one side and a balcony on the other.
Just like in the main living space, striped floor tiles set the colour theme of each bedroom too.
A yellow bed set and yellow accent chair expand the cheerful room palette.
The exterior green walls grow right over the openings of the kids’ bedroom balconies, bringing the wonder of butterflies and birds with the seasonal flowers.
Tactile leaves, the flash of colorful wings and the sound of bird song make magical childhood memories.
On a practical level, the climbing plants provide effective screening from the road, and filter the air and searing sunlight.
To complete the primary colour wheel, we leave the red and yellow bedrooms upstairs to explore the blue bedroom back down on the main floor.
The ground floor blue bedroom connects to the main lounge area, but can be closed off when required.
Another skylit courtyard grows a pretty bedroom view.
Because the bedroom is attached to the main living space, it becomes an extension for play.
Windows were positioned to ensure cross ventilation throughout the year, with the seasonal shift of wind.
In each colour coded space, a series of circular photographic prints feature one colour matched disc.
Ceilings are left raw in reflection of the cool grey floors.
Mirrored wardrobes bounce natural light deep into the bedrooms.
A red accent chair adds a bright visual stop at the end of a tiled runner.
The same colourful modern chair design is used throughout with sculptural effect.
The vertical & landscape voids and the stairwell helps control the temperature of the house during the tropical summers of the south.
An industrial bathroom illustrates the family’s love of simplicity.
A shower door opens to the fresh air.
Up on top, the roof is utilised as added outdoor area. The huge green walls wrap around and cover one third the roof to form shaded pockets of terrace–perfect for a quiet siesta or a friendly barbecue.
Wisps of greenery peek through the skylights.
Ground floor plan with open concept lounge, kitchen diner area, bedroom, bathrooms and courtyards, plus exterior shaded porch.
First floor plan with two bedrooms, spacious family room and bathrooms.

51 Master Bathrooms With Images, Tips, And Accessories To Help You Design Yours
We see some pretty fabulous master bathroom designs on our endeavour to bring great new home designs to the masses, and feel it’s time to put them first (rather than at the end of pretty much every tour – that living room always has top billing no matter how showstopping the loo looks). So, we’ve corralled an extensive gallery of 51 master bathroom designs that feature creative layouts, stunning bathroom furniture designs, and some gorgeous bathroom accessories to throw in that final finesse. We’ve also added some hints and tips that will help you get on your way to creating your own magnificent master bathroom space.
Designer: Qusay Abubaker   Make a garden bathroom. You don’t even have to own a garden; a living wall can put any room in touch with nature. A skylight floods the one in this home with sunbeams…
Visualizer: Prosvirin Design   … Though focussed artificial lighting provides a dramatic effect too.
Designer: Andrey Avdeenko   A vertical garden can be fashioned anywhere in the room. They are especially useful for disguising an irregular shaped structure or support columns.
Visualizer: Giri Dwi Cahya   Put a bed of pebbles beneath the bathtub to connect the decor with a garden backdrop – whether it be a living wall, a bathroom courtyard, or a gorgeous view.
Visualizer: Alexander Barchan   You can use pebbles to easily and cheaply define a makeshift bathroom courtyard; simply plant a few pots in it. Putting the plants by the window is a good idea, so that they get plenty of natural sunlight to grow.
Visualizer: La Alegría Dhifaoui Samiha   Add a slice of interest with contrasting floor treatments and wall tiles. It’s not unusual to pick out more than one style of tile for your bathroom to define a shower floor or a raised platform, but why not push it beyond parallel lines? Cut tiles or boards on the diagonal to make a stand out space.
Visualizer: Alexandra Macevich   Open up a master bathroom to be part of the bedroom. The combined square footage will make a more impressive sized suite. Privacy curtains can be drawn across whenever required.
Visualizer: Andrey Korniychuk   Highlight those edges. LED strips have many, many applications, but none so popular right now as the perimeter lighting track. Light up every edge of raised floor, dropped ceiling, shower wall and vanity mirror.
Visualizer: Albert Mizuno   LED perimeter lighting can make huge volumes appear weightless, as if floating just ever so slightly above the ground.
Visualizer: Amr Abdeen   Add a little shimmer to your wet wall. The extra sheen will bestow a look of glamour on the whole room. Team with some marble accents to take the trend high-end.
Visualizer: Jenpol Sumatchaya   Screen the scene. Decorative screens allow tantalising glimpses of scenic views to filter through, whilst still maintaining a level of privacy. Match dark metal screens with concrete bathroom decor for a strong aesthetic.
Visualizer: Joana Santos Ferreira   Layered rugs aren’t only for living rooms. The bathroom can sometimes feel like a sterile place, with hard wooden flooring or cold tile underfoot. Throwing down a rug or two can make a world of difference – not just to the look of the room, but to the literal feel of the space, and even the echoey acoustics.
Visualizer: Liuba Kushnir   Hang a modern chandelier over the bathtub – or set your tub below a magnificent central fixture.
Visualizer: Patricia Urquiola   Love to spa together? Why not recreate the couples spa experience at home with a double bathtub installation.
Visualizer: Shahid Jamal   Build a neoclassical bathroom blend. Incorporate modern bathroom furniture designs with classical touches, like elegant chandeliers and mosaic masterpieces. Don’t forget to add beautiful ceiling coving, corbels and wainscot.
Visualizer: Stanislav Kaminskyi   Fashion an eclectic modern bathroom. Pull together a collection of statement pieces that are each beautiful in their own right, even if they’re not necessarily ‘matching’. Use the intermittent decor to pull the elements together – like this colourful rug that echoes one circular coral table, and the stripes of an accent chair.
Visualizer: Vic Nguyen   Another stunning eclectic vision.
Visualizer: Artem Shelipov   Cram in a faux courtyard. Does your master bathroom design have standing room only? Not to worry, the plants can share the shower cubicle with you. Voila! A glass courtyard.
Visualizer: Christopher Czerwinski   Don’t have the budget, time or inclination to box in all that pipework or ducting? Go for an industrial bathroom style and let it all hang out instead.
Visualizer: Philippe Starck   Make it rain! Imagine rolling out of the bed and under that rainfall showerhead – it would be quite a wake up. It’s handy having the closet standing right on the other side of the glass shower screen too, which would make it possible to choose an outfit for the day whilst still shampooing…
Visualizer: 91D Design   Another master bathroom with walk in closet. This time there’s a tub too.
Visualizer: Mohanad Al Homsi   One statement piece can change everything. The room would still look smart without a hammock bath, but not nearly so impressive.
Visualizer: Vladislava Torgonsky Vladislava Torgonsky   A combined wet area doesn’t have to mean an over shower bath. Many designs now put the bath and a separate shower unit side by side behind a single splash screen, or up on a platform together to make plumbing and drainage simpler.
Visualizer: Prosvirin Design   Fill up on feature walls. Sometimes bathroom wall decor can take a back seat to the main and essential working parts. However, accent walls and wall art make a bathroom feel part of the rest of the house. Look at ways in which to incorporate warm wood panelling, stone or brick effect feature walls, and eye-catching prints.
Visualizer: Naresh Mistry   Include substantial storage solutions. Bathrooms aren’t always big on cupboard space, but when it comes to bringing in all those fluffy folded towels, you’re going to wish you had somewhere roomy to stash them all.
Visualizer: Iqosa   Section off the toilet in a larger sized room. If you have the space to install a small room within a room then you might like to make the toilet completely private, but a partial partition wall can work well too.
Visualizer: Joana Santos Ferreira   If you only invest in one special piece for your bathroom, consider a designer accent chair. Since accent chairs can be be repurposed just about anywhere in the home, you can really get your money’s worth – even after the next bathroom makeover.
Designer: Designer   Visualizer: Natalia Pozdnyak   Side tables update a bathroom without making a permanent change. A set of white marble and jade green side tables accessorise this modern grey and white bathroom scheme.
Visualizer: J Lozgar   Follow the golden trend. Gold and rose gold accents are the perfect way to add luxe to a modern bathroom look.
Visualizer: Scaffold Group   Accessorise, accessorise, accessorise. Shiny bathroom pendant lighting, collections of decorative vases, multiple reed diffusers, a designer toilet seat, and colour coordinated fresh towels – this master bathroom has it all going on.
Visualizer: Bezmirno Architects   Let beautiful vessel sinks stand tall. Tall vessel basins look stunning set atop a low linear vanity unit.
Visualizer: Görkem Karakan   Stairway to bathing heaven. Make a production out of taking a bath, with a theatrical staircase lit and levelled with the side of the tub.
Visualizer: Kaminskyi   Large format bathroom tiles will make a room look more spacious.
Visualizer: Double Aye   Punctuate an all white bathroom scheme with dark accessories.
Visualizer: Joana Santos Ferreira   Looking for something different in vanity lighting? How about a bathroom floor lamp?
Visualizer: Lorenzo Pennati   A bathroom floor lamp would provide great reading light whilst soaking in the tub too.
Visualizer: STUDIO.O. organic design   Swing arm wall lamps provide repositional light at a vanity…
Visualizer: Spasm Designs   …. or how about a classic scissor lamp?
Designer: Haji Guliyev & Ulker Mirzaliyeva   Visualizer: Vusal Abbasov   Reflect on natural light. Bathing your face in the morning sun, as well as at the basin, feels uplifting. But where do we put the vanity mirror when positioning bathroom sinks in front of windows? Have the best of both worlds by installing a ceiling mounted or stem affixed design.
Visualizer: Omar Saad   Make art out of pipework.
Visualizer: Artgroup   Be inspired by the greats, like the owners of this Mondrian style bathroom.
Visualizer: Nejc Kilar   Keep it simple and serene with a minimalist scheme.
Visualizer: 365 Design   This minimalist bathroom shows how great design is achievable on a smaller scale and budget.
Visualizer: Oleg Kucher   Divide and conquer. Build a dividing wall to section off a large shower enclosure, then use the new wall space to position a beautiful bathtub in pride of place.
Visualizer: Bloomsbury Design   This dividing wall is positioned directly down the centre of the room so that the toilet and bidet can also be set behind it.
Visualizer: Thao Uyen   Black bathroom decor sets a moody scene, like a cool nightclub.
Visualizer: Ahmed H. Ibrahim   Create high contrast with black and white wall tiles, like this stunning white marble and black herringbone design.
Visualizer: M11 Design   Turn up the texture with a wood ribbed feature wall.
Visualizer: Christoph Mensak   Create a warm runner of wooden floor panels.
Visualizer: Black Box   Master bathrooms in warmer climates can be made to connect seamlessly with the outdoors…
Visualizer: Elena Maximova   … Bring garden elements inside the room to make it a completely natural transition; use indoor plants, stone elements, wood grain features and pebble flooring. Install wall to wall sliding doors and let the breeze blow through.
1. Automatic touch-free soap dispenser 2. Luxury toilet paper holder 3. Menu pedal trash bin 4. Modern faucet 5. Copper ventilated laundry basket 6. Bamboo vanity accessory set 7. Luxury chandelier 8. Golden plant stand 9. Golden glass bathroom sink

The Contemporary Cubic House | Tvakshati Architects <a href="https://www.savidevelopers.com">Savi Developers</a>
The Contemporary Cubic House | Tvakshati Architects
It’s a contemporary cubic house designed by II TVAKSHATI ARCHITECTS II amidst urban vicinity in Surat with timeless architecture and interiors. This cubic house is dominated with three boxes fit within each other very artistically, leaving the voids acting as positive see-through spaces supported by material pallet comprising of stone, wood, stone concrete and glass. The play of planes, solids, and voids is the most striking beauty of the villa making it very stylish and elegant in visual appeal due the apt material pallet defined. The cubicles are slided very tactfully over each other keeping space for skylights and open to skylight well. The exterior and interior sinks into each other to achieve the feel and character of the space. Designer being very trendy in its taste has explored its concept based on the raw earthy feel of traditional Indian designs fusing together with a contemporary and classic theme. It renders a soothing artistic effect to the entire interior setting giving a thematic touch to the designed architectural spaces. Its designed with an open living concept and most spacious spaces which have been kept very gentle and modern casting an enigmatic effect!!!!
In today’s urban life we seek a space for pondering and relaxing away from the chaos of everyday life. Airy, scenic, spacious and landscaped; seemed like unimaginable attributes for a residence on a tight, gloomy, 6,500 sq.fturban plot in the dense residential locales of Sarjan Society, Parle Point, Surat.
Less is more, while more is no good Architecture is a learned game, correct and magnificent of forms assembled in the light. The best way to predict the future is to create it. We produce architecture of a style which is easy to understand and enjoy, but difficult to forget.
The Vasant villa house was envisioned as a single unit, with a spacious garden, deck, and parking. The openness of the front garden balances the cubical mass and allows for extended gatherings and family events. The Front garden and rear side garden space are framed by the intricately cut stone jail and the arcade on the other side, which acts as multifunctional space, where the family spends quality time on pleasant mornings and evenings. The lawns connect one to the nature adding flavor to the everyday mundane life.
The internal planning is relatively simple yet modern which is perfectly accurate according to the Vastu of the home. It’s an open plan connecting living, dining, foyer, puja, garden, kitchen and bedroom areas with ease and comfort.
Foyer
Firstly when one enters the foyer, one will get mesmerized with the intricately designed ceiling and partition which acts as a screen defining the arrival to the foyer area. It is aptly designed with a sculpture niche adorned with meditating Buddha and playful ceiling with most eye-catching lights.
Contemporary Theme Based  Living room: With Open Living Concept
Further as one moves ahead one can see the lavish living room defined with the slit in the wall bringing the natural ray of north light and segregation between foyer. The living room is very spacious and grand with louvered window and full-sized door opening to the garden, adding the most enigmatic effect throughout the day. Living room resulted into a light-filled spacious abode which will please the functionally, aesthetically and emotionally.
On the other side lies the most elegant and stylish designed Puja, kitchen and dining area which is well connected to the rear side garden area overlooking the arches outside. The dramatic open soffit staircase inside compliments the play of light in the house all day creating a small world of fantasies.
Great designs are eliminating unnecessary details and giving the good feel to make the house, home for the people.  The designs are kept simple but significant which would not allow the viewer to get stuck in one place but will boost them to see all around with imaginations.
The most striking feature through these spaces is the presence of ample natural light brought via the OTS, which is both used and celebrated to give the home a warm and fresh feel. Apart from tempering the microclimate of the living spaces through its greenery, the OTS helps set up a passive ventilation system for the house, along with the stack ventilation shaft of the staircase, and Louvered windows. Skylights and windows allow natural daylight conserving energy. Finished staircase forms a lightwell, illuminating the living spaces through a skylight. As per the client’s taste, timber and timber-finishes are used throughout the home, especially in the while Italian flooring is done to bring the essence of earthy feel inside the house.
Nature Theme Based Bedroom: Luring Nature Within
In today’s modern world –“One has miles to go before he sleeps” which leaves no time for him to appreciate the beauty of nature. designer has envisioned to recreate a timeless small world within –   which heals all the stress via designing green wall along with rustic stone cladding opening to a large green carpeted balcony. The interior decor is unique in its own sense with a very subtle and soothing color scheme.
The bedroom balcony overlooks the garden below, forming a breezy sit out from the first floor. Bedrooms are provided with louvered and full sized sliding door cum windows  with private sit outs; a hierarchy of private, semi-private and family open spaces ensuring varying degrees of privacy to all inhabitants.
Traditional Theme Based  Bedroom:  With Royal Décor
The bedroom balcony overlooks the garden below, forming a breezy sit out from the first floor. Bedrooms are provided with louvered and full-sized sliding door cum windows with private sit outs; a hierarchy of private, semi-private and family open spaces ensuring varying degrees of privacy to all inhabitants.
Be it contemporary or classical, it is almost like a mental association with Royalty, the life and era of the maharajahs, palaces, castles and so on. Gujarati’s are known for their diverse cultural heritage and rich traditions. architect has very aptly envisioned a vibrant mix of reviving traditional features giving an insight to historic India and its phenomenal diversity via beautifully carved out architectural décor and interiors.  Even the curtains, large windows, and color scheme respond to the thematically planned bedroom very aptly.
Ethnic Theme Based Bedroom: Inspired From  Leaf Motif
Interiors inspired from the Indian motifs -classified into the natural category has been used as a core theme for the room which is reflected in curtains, bed sheet, laser cut jali and even on wall art piece. Interestingly, these ethnic patterns from India are gaining a huge amount of popularity worldwide.
Designer being very trendy in its taste has tried its interior concept based on it. The raw earthy feel of traditional Indian designs which predominantly include paisley leaves, flowers, and creepers design, geometrical shapes render a soothing artistic effect to the entire interior setting an enigmatic effect. The overall design had to be very gentle. Donned in wooden flooring on the right side acts as a youth full sitting space for the couple. This room has a line of full-length wardrobes with spotlights.
Geometrical Theme Based  Bedroom: Inspired From Patola
Patan is the place in Kathiawar district of Gujarat which is reputed to be the birthplace of Patola. It is the most colorful and beautiful saree of India. Patola is mostly used as wedding saree in Kathiawar and Gujarat. II ત્વક્ષતિ II has tried to reflect the  Indian Geometrical motifs from patola which include lines in various forms, such as vertical, horizontal, diagonal and curved via the backrest, curtains and bedsheets and wardrobe groves. Such Geometric designs with mirror act as an eclectic element for the viewer residing in the room.
Contemporary Japanese Seigaiha (Waves) Based  Bedroom :
A contemporary bedroom may sound cold and sterile, but the results are often incredibly inviting. Japanese symbols and patterns have become popular in the past few decades in Western design. The Seigaiha or wave is a pattern of layered concentric circles creating arches, symbolic of waves or water and representing surges of good luck. It can also signify power and resilience.
II ત્વક્ષતિ II with the right elements—including vibrant colors, soft textures, and warm wood furnishings—modern design has tried to feel right at home in a master suite or guest room. These tranquil retreats take advantage of natural light for a bright and airy feel and pare down furnishings to the essentials to create an uncluttered spot for relaxation.
Art Wall with Interlocking  Circles ….!!!  When Wall  Speaks Volumes
The circle is a universal symbol with extensive meaning. It represents the notions of totality, wholeness, unity,  original perfection, the Self, the infinite, eternity, timelessness, all cyclic movement, God (‘God is a circle whose center is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere’ ).
This Designed art wall will motivate, inspire, provoke thought…or make one feel something which words can’t describe.
Conclusion
The whole house is given a personalized touch, individually for each space, making it the best possible place to reside for life. Comfort and functionality is well taken care of by providing comfortable headboards, functional study desk, wooden leisure deck, a natural source of light in the bedroom and also in the bathroom, stone with green grass cladding over walls adds to the thematic stylization of each room making it simple yet unique. Of course, while timber and its finishes are predominant in the space, this look is made soothing through elegant and ethnic choices of fabrics in the curtains tapestry the wall claddings.
Architecture is an art we live in.
We believe the way we live, can be directed by architecture.
Architecture is one that excites you, clams you, makes you think to feel different and unique.
All in all, this contemporary cubic house, with its tranquil beauty and traditional appeal, emphasizes the importance of time-tested modern philosophies giving a sensitive approach toward achieving an environmentally effective design for today’s architectural.

Lessening Water Problems From Wind and Rainfall Tornados
Spring in numerous components of the nation is well known for thundercloud and hurricane activity. Recent weeks brought enormous rain, wind and also hailstorm tornados throughout components of the United States. These storms have proved devastating on numerous fronts, causing extensive residential or commercial property damages as a result of strong winds, heavy rainfalls, flooding and overflowing tornado drains.
