Dizzied by an accumulated pileup of busted norms, you might have missed a presidential executive order issued on March 20. It’s called, “Stopping Waste, Fraud, and Abuse by Eliminating Information Silos.” It basically gives the federal government the authority to consolidate all the unclassified materials from different government databases. Compared to eviscerating life-sustaining agencies in the name of fighting waste and fraud, it might seem like a relatively minor action. In any case, the order was overshadowed by Signalgate. But it’s worth a look.
At first glance, the order seems reasonable. Both noun and verb, the very word silo evokes waste. Isolating information in silos squanders the benefits of pooled data. When you silo knowledge, there’s a danger that decisions will be made with incomplete information. Sometimes expensive projects are needlessly duplicated, as teams are unaware that the same work is being done elsewhere in the enterprise. Business school lecturers feast on tales where corporate silos have led to disaster. If only the right hand knew what the left was doing!
More to the point, if you are going to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse, there’s a clear benefit to smashing silos. For instance, what if a real estate company told lenders and insurers that a property was worth a certain amount, but reported what were “clearly…fraudulent valuations,” according to a New York Supreme Court judge. If investigative reporters and prosecutors could pry those figures out of the silos, they might expose such skulduggery, even if the perpetrator wound up escaping consequences.
But before we declare war on silos, hold on. When it comes to sensitive personal data, especially data that’s held by the government, silos serve a purpose. One obvious reason: privacy. Certain kinds of information, like medical files and tax returns, are justifiably regarded as sacrosanct—too private to merge with other records. The law provides special protections that limit who can access that information. But this order could force agencies to hand it over to any federal official the president chooses.
Then there’s the Big Brother argument—privacy experts are justifiably concerned that the government could consolidate all the information about someone in a detailed dossier, which would itself be a privacy violation. “A foundational premise of privacy protection for any level of government is that data can only be collected for a specific, lawful, identifiable purpose and then used only for that lawful purpose, not treated as essentially a piggy bank of data that the federal government can come back to whenever it wants,” says John Davisson, senior counsel at the Electronic Privacy Information Center.
There are practical reasons for silos as well. Fulfilling its mission to extract tax revenue from all sources subject to taxes, the IRS provides a payment option for incomes derived from, well, crookery. The information is siloed from other government sources like the Department of Justice, which might love to go on fishing expeditions to guess who is raking in bucks without revealing where the loot came from. Likewise, those not in the country legally commonly pay their taxes, funneling billions of dollars to the feds, even though many of those immigrants can’t access services or collect social security. If the silo were busted open, forget about collecting those taxes. Another example: the census. By law, that information is siloed, because if it were not, people would be reluctant to cooperate and the whole effort might be compromised. (While tax and medical data is considered confidential, the order encourages agency heads to reexamine information access regulations.)
Want another reason? Spilling data out of silos and consolidating it into a centralized database provides an irresistible honeypot for hackers, thieves, and enemy states. The federal government doesn’t have a great record of protecting sensitive information of late.
Trump’s order does state that consolidation must be “consistent with applicable law.” On its face, the order seems at odds with the 1974 Privacy Act, which specifically limits what it calls “computer matching.” But the order also says that it supersedes any “regulation subject to direct Presidential rulemaking authority.” This president considers that a very broad category. Also, as evidenced by multiple court rulings, Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency has been less than meticulous in respecting current law. In more than one example, current agency officials have cited legal barriers to block DOGE’s access to information. As a result, they were placed on leave, replaced by those who were willing to fling open the silos. In addition, on March 25, Trump issued another executive order that dictated that the Treasury Department should have access to other government databases. As legal justification, it cited an obscure passage in the 1974 law that allowed federal computer matching in limited circumstances. Perhaps this loophole will be broadened to justify the massive consolidation envisioned in the silo executive order next.
Oh, and the March 20 order also gives the federal government “unfettered access to comprehensive data from all State programs that receive Federal funding, including, as appropriate, data generated by those programs but maintained in third-party databases.” That seems to mean that not only will the silos between federal and state data be compromised, but the government could get access to some information in private hands too.
While DOGE wasn’t mentioned in the March 20 executive order, getting access to personal information has been an obsession of the so-called agency since day one. The order that repurposed USDS and established DOGE mandated that all agency heads “ensure USDS has full and prompt access to all unclassified agency records, software systems, and IT systems.” The question was whether this need arose from a desire for genuine reform or something darker. Apparently US district judge Ellen Lipton Hollander holds the latter view. On the same day that the president signed the executive order on silos, she signed a temporary restraining order on DOGE’s attempt to get access to identifiable social security records. “The DOGE Team is essentially engaged in a fishing expedition at SSA in search of a fraud epidemic, based on little more than suspicion,” she wrote in her decision, concluding that DOGE was intruding into the personal affairs of millions of Americans without justification. Note that her order involved just a single agency—a mere fishing pole compared to the commercial seafood operation that could happen if social security records were consolidated with IRS data, unemployment information, military, VA, and countless others.
I’m not condemning efficiency when it comes to government operations, and I certainly don’t condone fraud and waste. Of course, the US government should do better. But DOGE isn’t operating as if efficiency were job one, even though its actual title contains the word. In covering tech companies, I often hear boasts that the process of upgrading an existing product was like “rebuilding a plane in mid-air.” But when the vehicle in question is carrying live passengers, every move must be done with extreme caution, because a mistake means catastrophe. Both President Trump and DOGE seem happy to fly the plane into a mountain, figuring they can pick up the pieces later.
Compared to some of the administration's actions involving pandemic responses, nuclear safety, and social security support, the March 20 executive order on information silos might seem like small beer. But if this order is followed aggressively, we could lose the accuracy of our databases, a good bit of our revenues, and above all, much of our privacy. We’re going to miss those silos.

Senkaimon Travel Procedures
Tumblr media
"There are many benefits to being a marine biologist."
Even though 99.99% of interdimensional travel is baked into normal Gotei procedures that shinigami use every single day, I feel like the Gotei has probably made it difficult for no other reason than it's not anyone's job to make it not difficult.
Like, it'd be nice if you could receive your Living World Assignment and then, at 7AM on launch day, show up at a senkaimon and go through it. Cake! (Or--well, you know what I mean, this being Soul Society.)
But I feel like this line from my work’s website about there being "many benefits to using a travel management system" exists because our previous travel management system was so bad it felt like it should be regulated by the state as a form of gambling. I see no reason why the Gotei's version would NOT be like this. So:
You cannot, in fact, simply show up and walk through a senkaimon, on the date the Gotei itself told you you would need to do so. You need to go to the physical Travel Management Office, which is run by like two dudes from the Kidou Corps.
You will give them your deployment summons, which they will cross-reference with the copy they may or may not have received. (You need to time your trip to the Travel Management Office such that you have enough time to make your arrangements, but the mail also has enough time to make it through the entire Seireitei postal system.)
Despite the fact that this paperwork is handled entirely analog, the next part of this process involves a giant mainframe like the ones they have at the 12th. It prints data matrices that only these two Travel Management Office Kidou Corps guys can translate into dates, times, and--most importantly--prices.
Yes, you have to pay to use the Senkaimon. Well, not you personally. Your Division does. But you will at some point have to submit your receipts to your finance officer along with your other qualified expenses and it's a whole thing.
Also you had to submit a budget for your own mission that the Gotei is telling you to go on, but you had to base those prices on Death.Net's info, which is not the same info as these Travel Management Guys have.
By the time they've translated and you've selected, the mainframe prints out another matrix. Cue more translating, and more selecting, because the senkaimon time/date you've chosen is now a completely different price, well above what was originally printed. It's also at a different time, and a different day... (+/- 2-17 hours).
Expect to go through this several times, choosing time/date/price packages completely at random because you know that by the time they come back for second confirmation they'll be different. This is the gambling part of your trip to the Travel Management Office (you set aside the whole afternoon, right? You told your 10th Seat where you were going?).
The constantly shifting data is because despite being the "refined" way to travel to the Living World and back, senkaimon travel is still fairly complex, and the ability to travel (or how much energy it takes, hence the cost) is dependent upon... who knows. Solar flares. Whimsy. The stoichiometry of souls. How many people are on duty at the Kidou Corps. Obama. Bitcoin.
Speak of "and back"!!! You need to arrange that, too! If you miss your date, imagine doing all of this. But via denreishinki, instead of in person. Imagine.
Those fancy trips where it seems like captains/VCs just jump through a senkaimon? It's because instead of arranging a particular "flight" they just bought out every single opportunity within a block. This is hideously, hideously expensive. But: 1) Sometimes it's subsidized by the Central 46, if the circumstance is dire enough (but it's a reimbursement, not an advance. So, fill out that paperwork when you get back, if you don't die!). 2) This can be paid for with personal funds if it's in excess of the division budget. What else are they gonna do with all that money, right?
Even this doesn't mean there will be an instantly available senkaimon portal to avail oneself of, so sometimes after spending 7 million kan to buy out a senkaimon block you still have to wait a bit behind the doors in that little receiving room space. Yeah.
It's possible to have someone else go to the Travel Management Office and make your arrangements for you, if you have better things to be doing. But a lot of Captains/VCs actually still go themselves, either for security clearance reasons (you can't outsource your travel plans if you're on a top-secret mission lmao), or because they're private and don't want people handling their business. This means if you're the two guys who work at the Office, it's a pretty cushy gig if you're into meeting celebrities (or what passes for them in this place).
The only downside is that they're almost universally in a rush and fucking angry that they're at the Travel Management Office.
As they say, never meet your heroes!

Found: first actively forming galaxy as lightweight as young Milky Way
For the first time, the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope has detected and ‘weighed’ a galaxy that not only existed around 600 million years after the Big Bang, but also has a mass that is similar to what our Milky Way galaxy’s mass might have been at the same stage of development. Other galaxies Webb has detected at this period in the history of the Universe are significantly more massive. Nicknamed the Firefly Sparkle, this galaxy is gleaming with star clusters — 10 in all — each of which researchers examined in great detail.
“I didn’t think it would be possible to resolve a galaxy that existed so early in the Universe into so many distinct components, let alone find that its mass is similar to our own galaxy’s when it was in the process of forming,” said Lamiya Mowla, co-lead author of the paper and an assistant professor at Wellesley College in Massachusetts. “There is so much going on inside this tiny galaxy, including so many different phases of star formation.
Webb was able to image the galaxy in sufficient detail for two reasons. One is a benefit of the cosmos: a massive foreground galaxy cluster radically enhanced the distant galaxy’s appearance through a natural effect known as gravitational lensing. And when combined with the telescope’s specialisation in high-resolution imaging of infrared light, Webb delivered unprecedented new data about the galaxy’s contents.
“Without the benefit of this gravitational lens, we would not be able to resolve this galaxy,” said Kartheik Iyer, co-lead author and NASA Hubble Fellow at Columbia University in New York. “We knew to expect it based on current physics, but it’s surprising that we actually saw it.”
Mowla, who spotted the galaxy in Webb’s image, was drawn to its gleaming star clusters, because objects that sparkle typically indicate they are extremely clumpy and complicated. Since the galaxy looks like a ‘sparkle’ or swarm of fireflies on a warm summer night, they named it the Firefly Sparkle galaxy.
Reconstructing the galaxy’s appearance
The research team modelled what the galaxy might have looked like if its image weren’t stretched by gravitational lensing and discovered that it resembled an elongated raindrop. Suspended within it are two star clusters toward the top and eight toward the bottom. “Our reconstruction shows that clumps of actively forming stars are surrounded by diffuse light from other unresolved stars,” said Iyer. “This galaxy is literally in the process of assembling.”
Webb’s data show the Firefly Sparkle galaxy is on the smaller side, falling into the category of a low-mass galaxy. Billions of years will pass before it builds its full heft and a distinct shape. “Most of the other galaxies Webb has shown us aren’t magnified or stretched, and we are not able to see their ‘building blocks’ separately. With Firefly Sparkle, we are witnessing a galaxy being assembled brick by brick,” Mowla said.
Stretched out and shining, ready for close analysis
Since the image of the galaxy is warped into a long arc, the researchers easily picked out 10 distinct star clusters, which are emitting the bulk of the galaxy’s light. They are represented here in shades of pink, purple, and blue. Those colours in Webb’s images and its supporting spectra confirmed that star formation didn’t happen all at once in this galaxy, but was staggered in time.
“This galaxy has a diverse population of star clusters, and it is remarkable that we can see them separately at such an early age of the Universe,” said Chris Willott of the National Research Council Canada, a co-author and the observation programme’s principal investigator. “Each clump of stars is undergoing a different phase of formation or evolution.”
The galaxy’s projected shape shows that its stars haven’t settled into a central bulge or a thin, flattened disc, another piece of evidence that the galaxy is still forming.
‘Glowing’ companions
Researchers can’t predict how this disorganised galaxy will build up and take shape over billions of years, but there are two galaxies that the team confirmed are ‘hanging out’ within a tight perimeter and may influence how it builds mass over billions of years.
Firefly Sparkle is only 6500 light-years away from its first companion, and its second companion is separated by 42 000 light-years. For context, the fully formed Milky Way is about 100 000 light-years across — all three would fit inside it. Not only are its companions very close, the researchers also think that they are orbiting one another.
Each time one galaxy passes another, gas condenses and cools, allowing new stars to form in clumps, adding to the galaxies’ masses. “It has long been predicted that galaxies in the early Universe form through successive interactions and mergers with other tinier galaxies,” said Yoshihisa Asada, a co-author and doctoral student at Kyoto University in Japan. “We might be witnessing this process in action.”
“This is just the first of many such galaxies JWST will discover, as we are only starting to use these cosmic microscopes”, added team member Maruša Bradač of the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. “Just like microscopes let us see pollen grains from plants, the incredible resolution of Webb and the magnifying power of gravitational lensing let us see the small pieces inside galaxies. Our team is now analysing all early galaxies, and the results are all pointing in the same direction: we have yet to learn much more about how those early galaxies formed.”
The team’s research relied on data from Webb’s CAnadian NIRISS Unbiased Cluster Survey, which include near-infrared images from NIRCam (Near-InfraRed Camera) and spectra from the microshutter array aboard NIRSpec (Near-Infrared Spectrograph). The CANUCS data intentionally covered a field that NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope imaged as part of its Cluster Lensing And Supernova survey with Hubble programme.
This work was published on 12 December 2024 in the journal Nature.
More information
Webb is the largest, most powerful telescope ever launched into space. Under an international collaboration agreement, ESA provided the telescope’s launch service, using the Ariane 5 launch vehicle. Working with partners, ESA was responsible for the development and qualification of Ariane 5 adaptations for the Webb mission and for the procurement of the launch service by Arianespace. ESA also provided the workhorse spectrograph NIRSpec and 50% of the mid-infrared instrument MIRI, which was designed and built by a consortium of nationally funded European Institutes (The MIRI European Consortium) in partnership with JPL and the University of Arizona.

The largest bright white oval is a supergiant elliptical galaxy that is the dominant member of this galaxy cluster. The galaxy cluster acts like a lens, magnifying and distorting the light from objects that lie well behind it, an effect known as gravitational lensing that has big research benefits. Astronomers can study lensed galaxies in detail, like the Firefly Sparkle galaxy.
This 2023 image is from the James Webb Space Telescope’s NIRCam (Near-InfraRed Camera). Researchers used Webb to survey the same field that the Hubble Space Telescope imaged in 2010. Thanks to its specialisation in high-resolution near-infrared imagery, Webb was able to show researchers many more galaxies in far more detail.

CENTRE IMAGE: For the first time, astronomers have identified a still-forming galaxy that weighs about the same as our Milky Way if we could wind back the clock to see our galaxy as it developed. The newly identified galaxy, the Firefly Sparkle, is in the process of assembling and forming stars, and existed about 600 million years after the Big Bang.
The image of the galaxy is stretched and warped by a natural effect known as gravitational lensing, which allowed researchers to glean far more information about its contents. (In some areas of Webb’s image, the galaxy is magnified over 40 times.)
While it took shape, the galaxy gleamed with star clusters in a range of infrared colours, which are scientifically meaningful. They indicate that the stars formed at different periods, not all at once.
Since the galaxy image is stretched into a long line in Webb’s observations, researchers were able to identify 10 distinct star clusters and study them individually, along with the cocoon of diffuse light from the additional, unresolved stars surrounding them. That’s not always possible for distant galaxies that aren’t lensed. Instead, in many cases researchers can only draw conclusions that apply to an entire galaxy. “Most of the other galaxies Webb has shown us aren’t magnified or stretched and we are not able to see the ‘building blocks’ separately. With Firefly Sparkle, we are witnessing a galaxy being assembled brick by brick,” explains astronomer Lamiya Mowla.
There are two companion galaxies ‘hovering’ close by, which may ultimately affect how this galaxy forms and builds mass over billions of years. Firefly Sparkle is only about 6500 light-years away from its first companion, and 42 000 light-years from its second companion. Let’s compare these figures to objects that are closer to home: the Sun is about 26 000 light-years from the centre of our Milky Way galaxy, and the Milky Way is about 100 000 light-years across. Not only are Firefly Sparkle’s companions very close, the researchers also suspect that they are orbiting one another.

There are 60 arcminutes in a degree and 60 arcseconds in an arcminute. (The full Moon has an angular diameter of about 30 arcminutes.) The actual size of an object that covers one arcsecond on the sky depends on its distance from the telescope.

Operatives from Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) are building a master database at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that could track and surveil undocumented immigrants, two sources with direct knowledge tell WIRED.
DOGE is knitting together immigration databases from across DHS and uploading data from outside agencies including the Social Security Administration (SSA), as well as voting records, sources say. This, experts tell WIRED, could create a system that could later be searched to identify and surveil immigrants.
The scale at which DOGE is seeking to interconnect data, including sensitive biometric data, has never been done before, raising alarms with experts who fear it may lead to disastrous privacy violations for citizens, certified foreign workers, and undocumented immigrants.
A United States Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS) data lake, or centralized repository, existed at DHS prior to DOGE that included data related to immigration cases, like requests for benefits, supporting evidence in immigration cases, and whether an application has been received and is pending, approved, or denied. Since at least mid-March, however, DOGE has been uploading mass amounts of data to this preexisting USCIS data lake, including data from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), SSA, and voting data from Pennsylvania and Florida, two DHS sources with direct knowledge tell WIRED.
“They are trying to amass a huge amount of data,” a senior DHS official tells WIRED. “It has nothing to do with finding fraud or wasteful spending … They are already cross-referencing immigration with SSA and IRS as well as voter data.”
Since president Donald Trump’s return to the White House earlier this year, WIRED and other outlets have reported extensively on DOGE’s attempts to gain unprecedented access to government data, but until recently little has been publicly known about the purpose of such requests or how they would be processed. Reporting from The New York Times and The Washington Post has made clear that one aim is to cross-reference datasets and leverage access to sensitive SSA systems to effectively cut immigrants off from participating in the economy, which the administration hopes would force them to leave the county. The scope of DOGE’s efforts to support the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown appear to be far broader than this, though. Among other things, it seems to involve centralizing immigrant-related data from across the government to surveil, geolocate, and track targeted immigrants in near real time.

Web3 & Decentralized E-Commerce: What It Means for D2C Brands
The e-commerce landscape is evolving, and Web3 is at the forefront of this transformation. As decentralized technologies redefine how businesses operate, Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) brands must prepare for a future where transactions, ownership, and customer relationships are no longer controlled by centralized platforms. But what does this shift mean for the world of online retail?
Understanding Web3 & Decentralized E-Commerce
Web3 refers to the next phase of the internet—powered by blockchain, smart contracts, and decentralized networks. Unlike traditional e-commerce, which relies on intermediaries like marketplaces and payment processors, decentralized e-commerce eliminates middlemen, giving brands direct control over their operations, data, and revenue streams.
How Web3 is Reshaping D2C Brands
Ownership & Control: Web3 empowers brands to own their customer relationships without depending on platforms like Amazon or Shopify.
Decentralized Payments: Cryptocurrency and blockchain-based transactions reduce dependency on banks and lower payment processing fees.
Smart Contracts for Automation: Agreements between buyers and sellers can be self-executing, reducing fraud and ensuring seamless transactions.
Enhanced Data Privacy: Customers have greater control over their data, fostering trust between brands and consumers.
Tokenized Loyalty Programs: Brands can use NFTs and tokens to create exclusive membership benefits, driving deeper engagement and repeat purchases.
Challenges of Web3 in E-Commerce
Adoption Barriers: Many consumers and businesses are still unfamiliar with blockchain and decentralized systems.
Regulatory Uncertainty: Governments worldwide are still developing frameworks to regulate cryptocurrencies and decentralized transactions.
User Experience: While Web3 offers transparency, its technical complexity may create friction for non-tech-savvy consumers.
The Future of D2C in a Web3 World
Decentralized Marketplaces: Platforms like OpenSea and Rarible are paving the way for decentralized product selling.
Metaverse Shopping: Virtual storefronts could redefine the online shopping experience, allowing customers to interact with products in digital spaces.
Community-Led Growth: Web3 enables brands to build loyal communities through decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), where customers have a say in brand decisions.
Seamless Global Transactions: Cryptocurrency adoption will allow brands to expand globally without currency conversion hassles.
Is Your Brand Ready for Web3?
While Web3 is still in its early stages, D2C brands that adapt now will gain a competitive edge. Whether through tokenized rewards, decentralized payment systems, or blockchain-backed supply chains, the shift toward decentralized e-commerce is inevitable. The question is: Will your brand lead the change or struggle to catch up?

Excerpt from this story from Canary Media:
As long-distance transmission line capacity emerges as a bottleneck for Illinois’ clean energy transition, state lawmakers and advocates are drafting legislation to establish state incentives for power line projects.
One proposal under consideration would allow independent transmission developers to access subsidies through the state’s Renewable Energy Credit (RECs) program, the same mechanism that has fueled the state’s solar boom.
“Merchant transmission developers are essentially building a road — generators pay to put their electricity on that road and send it to customers,” said James Gignac, Midwest senior policy manager for the Union of Concerned Scientists, a member of the coalition working with legislators on an energy bill building on 2017’s Climate & Equitable Jobs Act, or CEJA.
The Illinois legislation being prepared for this spring’s session would create another source of revenue for such projects, lowering the cost burden on wind and solar developers looking for a more direct route to power customers. Unlike projects funded by utility ratepayers, merchant lines do not need to go through the lengthy planning and financing process overseen by regional grid operators such as MISO and PJM.
“These [high voltage, direct current] lines can serve a different purpose,” Gignac said. “It’s an overlay or additional feature of the transmission system. They can provide important benefits that supplement the [regional transmission organization] plan.”
CEJA mandates that almost all of the state’s fossil fuel generation cease by 2045. Especially with the boom in data centers, some are worried Illinois won’t be able to meet its energy needs with renewables and nuclear power if coal and gas plants close.
“Transmission is a huge part of the equation, it will be important in helping us take inefficient coal and gas plants off-line, and it will help bring on extraordinary amounts of clean energy,” said Christine Nannicelli, Sierra Club Beyond Coal senior campaign representative.
In December, MISO, which manages the grid for most of Illinois and a large part of the central U.S. spanning from the Dakotas to the Gulf Coast, approved a batch of 24 long-distance transmission projects on top of 18 interregional transmission lines approved in 2022. But these lines will likely take a decade or more to build, given lengthy bureaucratic processes.
Merchant lines can be constructed much more quickly, as they do not need to be studied and deemed necessary through the regional transmission organization process. They just need to be interconnected to the regional grid system, as well as receive certain approvals in the states they pass through. Illinois advocates have also proposed that legislation designate merchant lines as public utilities, giving them an easier path to eminent domain powers.

oh yeah lemme tell you the different departments so you can place the koolkidz in them also note they’re more likely to see their own departments but there will be crossover every now and then (like they’ll see other departments every other week or something while their own is every day)
anyways I’ll give you their game descriptions lol
be prepared for lore
The Control Team monitors the employees and Abnormalities and plans the best course of action. They give immediate orders to other employees while watching the CCTV feeds. They tend to be quite bossy and assertive, making them unpopular with other teams.
The Information Team analyzes the Abnormalities, profiles them, and devises solutions to issues the Abnormalities may cause based on the data. They are in charge of collecting, analyzing, and archiving observation data and interview logs provided by the Welfare Team. The vast library of data is the basis for finding “solutions” to various problems encountered in the energy harvesting process; they often conduct experiments to determine the consistency and safety of the solution. All of the invaluable information could be gathered thanks to long-term observations and numerous sacrifices made by the team, not armchair theorizing as some suspect… is what they asked us to write here.
The Safety Team gives safety training to new employees and develops action plans for all kinds of potential emergencies that can occur in the company. They establish strategies for situations such as escaping Abnormalities, panicking employees and security breaches, as well as setting up safety guidelines for others to follow. They are notably meticulous and punctual
The Training team is in charge of composing and regulating company policies and various management procedures. They also run general-purpose training programs to help employees adapt well to their new departments.
The Central Command Team represents the Middle Layer of the facility. The upper and lower halves of Central Command take the role of the foundation for the facility, which allows expansion upwards and downwards. The department also functions as a bridge between the Upper and Lower Layers, making it a valuable strategic location
The disciplinary department's top tough team creates and punishes a variety of reasons, such as when an employee violates material rules, does not fulfill its obligations, neglects the job, damages the company enormously, and so on. This department has the best ability to control and sanction the situation. Whether it's a Abnormality or an employee
With the goal of preventing epidemics and secondary infection caused by Abnormalities, the Welfare Team puts preventative measures into action and works on programs that benefit the physical fitness and mental health of employees. In-house welfare is one of the highest values Lobotomy Corporation pursues; for the protection of our valuable resources… ah, no, I mean the lives of our employees
The record team department in which everything that occurs in the company is recorded. There are endless pages to be filled, but the last is always empty. The contracting and promotion of employees is decided by their records and assessments, so the employees always try to get on the good side of those who work in the Record Team; no one knows when [Record Deletion] will take place
The extraction department handles all physical material needed to maintain the company. They play a big role in the upkeep of everything by restoring collapsed facilities and extracting E.G.O. The arrangement, restoration, and extraction of Abnormalities are some of the duties that lie with this department as well. As such, its employees are always facing something from the Well, and moreover have an empty borehole within their hearts
hope this wasn’t too much of a lore dump have fun struggling I suppose ;-;
Nono it's okay, I think I got most of them
I just don't understand stuff well unless I'm really fixated on it and I'm really focused on Spooky Month and KoolKidz
You're good man👍

If you still hold any notion that Google Chrome’s “Incognito mode” is a good way to protect your privacy online, now’s a good time to stop.
Google has agreed to delete “billions of data records” the company collected while users browsed the web using Incognito mode, according to documents filed in federal court in San Francisco on Monday. The agreement, part of a settlement in a class action lawsuit filed in 2020, caps off years of disclosures about Google’s practices that shed light on how much data the tech giant siphons from its users—even when they’re in private-browsing mode.
Under the terms of the settlement, Google must further update the Incognito mode “splash page” that appears anytime you open an Incognito mode Chrome window after previously updating it in January. The Incognito splash page will explicitly state that Google collects data from third-party websites “regardless of which browsing or browser mode you use,” and stipulate that “third-party sites and apps that integrate our services may still share information with Google,” among other changes. Details about Google’s private-browsing data collection must also appear in the company’s privacy policy.
Additionally, some of the data that Google previously collected on Incognito users will be deleted. This includes “private-browsing data” that is “older than nine months” from the date that Google signed the term sheet of the settlement last December, as well as private-browsing data collected throughout December 2023. Certain documents in the case referring to Google's data collection methods remain sealed, however, making it difficult to assess how thorough the deletion process will be.
Google spokesperson Jose Castaneda says in a statement that the company “is happy to delete old technical data that was never associated with an individual and was never used for any form of personalization.” Castaneda also noted that the company will now pay “zero” dollars as part of the settlement after earlier facing a $5 billion penalty.
Other steps Google must take will include continuing to “block third-party cookies within Incognito mode for five years,” partially redacting IP addresses to prevent re-identification of anonymized user data, and removing certain header information that can currently be used to identify users with Incognito mode active.
The data-deletion portion of the settlement agreement follows preemptive changes to Google’s Incognito mode data collection and the ways it describes what Incognito mode does. For nearly four years, Google has been phasing out third-party cookies, which the company says it plans to completely block by the end of 2024. Google also updated Chrome’s Incognito mode “splash page” in January with weaker language to signify that using Incognito is not “private,” but merely “more private” than not using it.
The settlement's relief is strictly “injunctive,” meaning its central purpose is to put an end to Google activities that the plaintiffs claim are unlawful. The settlement does not rule out any future claims—The Wall Street Journal reports that the plaintiffs’ attorneys had filed at least 50 such lawsuits in California on Monday—though the plaintiffs note that monetary relief in privacy cases is far more difficult to obtain. The important thing, the plaintiffs’ lawyers argue, is effecting changes at Google now that will provide the greatest, immediate benefit to the largest number of users.
Critics of Incognito, a staple of the Chrome browser since 2008, say that, at best, the protections it offers fall flat in the face of the sophisticated commercial surveillance bearing down on most users today; at worst, they say, the feature fills people with a false sense of security, helping companies like Google passively monitor millions of users who've been duped into thinking they're browsing alone.

ASP Administrative Branch
Standing out as the shining jewel of democratic bureaucracy, the ASP Administrative Branch is truly a marvel.  Staffed by volunteer members hailing from each signatory, ASP Admin are the cogs and gears that help drive the interstellar prosperity and cooperation that followed the reconstruction years after the Third Pan-Galactic War.  ASP Admin staffers make up the many offices and ancillary support facilities in orbit around the Convocate Promenade.
The ASP Administrative Branch could easily be described as the more governmental of the three branches of the ASP.  Although the ASP doesn’t exist to act as a law making body, the distinction between them and the Convocate Promenade is often lost on the citizenry they serve.  While they certainly assist in the drafting and execution of those laws and regulations, there is little involvement by the Admin branch past that point.  Admin legal regularly has to cross reference the laws and regulations of all signatory systems to ensure that as few conflicts of interest or legal contradictions occur, marking members of Admin Legal for recruiters and headhunters of some of the most prestigious legal firms in the galaxy.
ASP Admin is also charged with the upkeep and maintenance of the Atheneum; the central database and knowledge center of the ASP.  As scientific and technological developments and breakthroughs occur throughout signatory systems of the ASP, the knowledge and data associated with them is transmitted and warehoused in the Atheneum.  Signatory systems have open access to this information; more than a few signatory systems have found themselves literally light years ahead of their current tech evolution in a matter of a few cycles thanks to the knowledge access at the Atheneum.
Although ASP admin staffers get assigned to work with other departments and are given other tasks during their time of service to the ASP, the fact is that the overwhelming majority of their work lies with either Admin Legal, or the Atheneum.  Also regularly forgotten about to most the citizenry, ASP Admin also ensures the smooth and seamless distribution of ASP financial assistance and stimulus programs, assisting with providing at-risk populations of signatory systems access to resources and aids that might benefit them, and works to ensure that any prospective new signatory systems have open and free access to begin the acclimation process to becoming a signatory to the Autonomy Accords.

Unlocking the Power of Data Warehousing: A Key to Smarter Decision-Making
In today's data-driven world, businesses need to make smarter, faster, and more informed decisions. But how can companies achieve this? One powerful tool that plays a crucial role in managing vast amounts of data is data warehousing. In this blog, we’ll explore what data warehousing is, its benefits, and how it can help organizations make better business decisions.
What is Data Warehousing?
At its core, data warehousing refers to the process of collecting, storing, and managing large volumes of data from different sources in a central repository. The data warehouse serves as a consolidated platform where all organizational data—whether from internal systems, third-party applications, or external sources—can be stored, processed, and analyzed.
A data warehouse is designed to support query and analysis operations, making it easier to generate business intelligence (BI) reports, perform complex data analysis, and derive insights for better decision-making. Data warehouses are typically used for historical data analysis, as they store data from multiple time periods to identify trends, patterns, and changes over time.
Key Components of a Data Warehouse
To understand the full functionality of a data warehouse, it's helpful to know its primary components:
Data Sources: These are the various systems and platforms where data is generated, such as transactional databases, CRM systems, or external data feeds.
ETL (Extract, Transform, Load): This is the process by which data is extracted from different sources, transformed into a consistent format, and loaded into the warehouse.
Data Warehouse Storage: The central repository where cleaned, structured data is stored. This can be in the form of a relational database or a cloud-based storage system, depending on the organization’s needs.
OLAP (Online Analytical Processing): This allows for complex querying and analysis, enabling users to create multidimensional data models, perform ad-hoc queries, and generate reports.
BI Tools and Dashboards: These tools provide the interfaces that enable users to interact with the data warehouse, such as through reports, dashboards, and data visualizations.
Benefits of Data Warehousing
Improved Decision-Making: With data stored in a single, organized location, businesses can make decisions based on accurate, up-to-date, and complete information. Real-time analytics and reporting capabilities ensure that business leaders can take swift action.
Consolidation of Data: Instead of sifting through multiple databases or systems, employees can access all relevant data from one location. This eliminates redundancy and reduces the complexity of managing data from various departments or sources.
Historical Analysis: Data warehouses typically store historical data, making it possible to analyze long-term trends and patterns. This helps businesses understand customer behavior, market fluctuations, and performance over time.
Better Reporting: By using BI tools integrated with the data warehouse, businesses can generate accurate reports on key metrics. This is crucial for monitoring performance, tracking KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and improving strategic planning.
Scalability: As businesses grow, so does the volume of data they collect. Data warehouses are designed to scale easily, handling increasing data loads without compromising performance.
Enhanced Data Quality: Through the ETL process, data is cleaned, transformed, and standardized. This means the data stored in the warehouse is of high quality—consistent, accurate, and free of errors.
Types of Data Warehouses
There are different types of data warehouses, depending on how they are set up and utilized:
Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW): An EDW is a central data repository for an entire organization, allowing access to data from all departments or business units.
Operational Data Store (ODS): This is a type of data warehouse that is used for storing real-time transactional data for short-term reporting. An ODS typically holds data that is updated frequently.
Data Mart: A data mart is a subset of a data warehouse focused on a specific department, business unit, or subject. For example, a marketing data mart might contain data relevant to marketing operations.
Cloud Data Warehouse: With the rise of cloud computing, cloud-based data warehouses like Google BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, and Snowflake have become increasingly popular. These platforms allow businesses to scale their data infrastructure without investing in physical hardware.
How Data Warehousing Drives Business Intelligence
The purpose of a data warehouse is not just to store data, but to enable businesses to extract valuable insights. By organizing and analyzing data, businesses can uncover trends, customer preferences, and operational inefficiencies. Some of the ways in which data warehousing supports business intelligence include:
Customer Segmentation: Companies can analyze data to segment customers based on behavior, demographics, or purchasing patterns, leading to better-targeted marketing efforts.
Predictive Analytics: By analyzing historical data, businesses can forecast trends and predict future outcomes, such as sales, inventory needs, and staffing levels.
Improved Operational Efficiency: With data-driven insights, businesses can streamline processes, optimize supply chains, and reduce costs. For example, identifying inventory shortages or surplus can help optimize stock levels.
Challenges in Data Warehousing
While the benefits of data warehousing are clear, there are some challenges to consider:
Complexity of Implementation: Setting up a data warehouse can be a complex and time-consuming process, requiring expertise in database management, ETL processes, and BI tools.
Data Integration: Integrating data from various sources with differing formats can be challenging, especially when dealing with legacy systems or unstructured data.
Cost: Building and maintaining a data warehouse can be expensive, particularly when managing large volumes of data. However, the investment is often worth it in terms of the business value generated.
Security: With the consolidation of sensitive data in one place, data security becomes critical. Organizations need robust security measures to prevent unauthorized access and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
The Future of Data Warehousing
The world of data warehousing is constantly evolving. With advancements in cloud technology, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, businesses are now able to handle larger datasets, perform more sophisticated analyses, and automate key processes.
As companies increasingly embrace the concept of a "data-driven culture," the need for powerful data warehousing solutions will continue to grow. The integration of AI-driven analytics, real-time data processing, and more intuitive BI tools will only further enhance the value of data warehouses in the years to come.
Conclusion
In today’s fast-paced, data-centric world, having access to accurate, high-quality data is crucial for making informed business decisions. A robust data warehousing solution enables businesses to consolidate, analyze, and extract valuable insights from their data, driving smarter decision-making across all departments. While building a data warehouse comes with challenges, the benefits—improved efficiency, better decision-making, and enhanced business intelligence—make it an essential tool for modern organizations.

Title: Data Warehousing: The Backbone of Data-Driven Decision Making
In today’s fast-paced business environment, the ability to make data-driven decisions quickly is paramount. However, to leverage data effectively, companies need more than just raw data. They need a centralized, structured system that allows them to store, manage, and analyze data seamlessly. This is where data warehousing comes into play.
Data warehousing has become the cornerstone of modern business intelligence (BI) systems, enabling organizations to unlock valuable insights from vast amounts of data. In this blog, we’ll explore what data warehousing is, why it’s important, and how it drives smarter decision-making.
What is Data Warehousing?
At its core, data warehousing refers to the process of collecting and storing data from various sources into a centralized system where it can be easily accessed and analyzed. Unlike traditional databases, which are optimized for transactional operations (i.e., data entry, updating), data warehouses are designed specifically for complex queries, reporting, and data analysis.
A data warehouse consolidates data from various sources—such as customer information systems, financial systems, and even external data feeds—into a single repository. The data is then structured and organized in a way that supports business intelligence (BI) tools, enabling organizations to generate reports, create dashboards, and gain actionable insights.
Key Components of a Data Warehouse
Data Sources: These are the different systems or applications that generate data. Examples include CRM systems, ERP systems, external APIs, and transactional databases.
ETL (Extract, Transform, Load): This is the process by which data is pulled from different sources (Extract), cleaned and converted into a usable format (Transform), and finally loaded into the data warehouse (Load).
Data Warehouse Storage: The actual repository where structured and organized data is stored. This could be in traditional relational databases or modern cloud-based storage platforms.
OLAP (Online Analytical Processing): OLAP tools enable users to run complex analytical queries on the data warehouse, creating reports, performing multidimensional analysis, and identifying trends.
Business Intelligence Tools: These tools are used to interact with the data warehouse, generate reports, visualize data, and help businesses make data-driven decisions.
Benefits of Data Warehousing
Improved Decision Making: By consolidating data into a single repository, decision-makers can access accurate, up-to-date information whenever they need it. This leads to more informed, faster decisions based on reliable data.
Data Consolidation: Instead of pulling data from multiple systems and trying to make sense of it, a data warehouse consolidates data from various sources into one place, eliminating the complexity of handling scattered information.
Historical Analysis: Data warehouses are typically designed to store large amounts of historical data. This allows businesses to analyze trends over time, providing valuable insights into long-term performance and market changes.
Increased Efficiency: With a data warehouse in place, organizations can automate their reporting and analytics processes. This means less time spent manually gathering data and more time focusing on analyzing it for actionable insights.
Better Reporting and Insights: By using data from a single, trusted source, businesses can produce consistent, accurate reports that reflect the true state of affairs. BI tools can transform raw data into meaningful visualizations, making it easier to understand complex trends.
Types of Data Warehouses
Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW): This is a centralized data warehouse that consolidates data across the entire organization. It’s used for comprehensive, organization-wide analysis and reporting.
Data Mart: A data mart is a subset of a data warehouse that focuses on specific business functions or departments. For example, a marketing data mart might contain only marketing-related data, making it easier for the marketing team to access relevant insights.
Operational Data Store (ODS): An ODS is a database that stores real-time data and is designed to support day-to-day operations. While a data warehouse is optimized for historical analysis, an ODS is used for operational reporting.
Cloud Data Warehouse: With the rise of cloud computing, cloud-based data warehouses like Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, and Snowflake have become popular. These solutions offer scalable, cost-effective, and flexible alternatives to traditional on-premises data warehouses.
How Data Warehousing Supports Business Intelligence
A data warehouse acts as the foundation for business intelligence (BI) systems. BI tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, and QlikView, connect directly to the data warehouse, enabling users to query the data and generate insightful reports and visualizations.
For example, an e-commerce company can use its data warehouse to analyze customer behavior, sales trends, and inventory performance. The insights gathered from this analysis can inform marketing campaigns, pricing strategies, and inventory management decisions.
Here are some ways data warehousing drives BI and decision-making:
Customer Insights: By analyzing customer purchase patterns, organizations can better segment their audience and personalize marketing efforts.
