I have opened a Chuffed campaign for Ahmed (@ilovelifetbh), who is the brother-in-law of Mahmoud Abu Hamam (@ma7moudgaza2; #149 on the vetted fundraiser spreadsheet). He isn't very experienced with social media, but he is trying everything he can to help his wife and two children survive in Gaza.
I have been in personal contact with Mahmoud for a long time; he is helping to support many of his family members, and has also helped me to distribute eSims in Gaza.
You can therefore be confident that this fundraiser was opened to benefit a real person who is really currently in Gaza, and that the money will actually get to them (@ma7moudgaza2, @moatazart, and @abualwanfamily can tell you that I have not stolen money from them).
Here is the fundraiser:
Thank you very much to everyone who shares and donates 🪻

for the time being this blog is dedicated to reblogging donation posts for people suffering from the ongoing genocides. if youd like an anagram, please send me (via the submission box) proof of either donation to a fundraiser of your choice, or an esim for gaza, along with the text you would like me to anagram, through dms or the submit box. any anagram requests without proof of a donation or esim purchase will be ignored.

Uncharismatic Fact of the Day
Most people get dizzy if they spin around, but whirligig beetles don't! This group of beetles is known for spinning in erratic circles on the surface of lakes and ponds, much like the whirling children's toys they're named after! Whirligig beetles spend almost their whole lives in the water, and as result have developed unique adaptations including two pairs of compound eyes-- one to look over the water's surface and another to look underwater.
Tumblr media
(Image: A whirligig beetle (family Gyrinidae) with an air bubble attached to its abdomen for breathing, by Jim Rathert)
If you send me proof that you’ve made a donation to UNRWA or another organization benefiting Palestinians– including esim donations– I’ll make art of any animal of your choosing.
As a bonus, enjoy this very relaxing video of whirligig beetles swimming on the water:

i've asked about this a few times now but not since before al-aqsa flood, so: what's the vibe on vpn services which have servers in israel? you can't realistically "boycott" them unless you boycott all big vpns, and i think the benefits of having a vpn outweigh the benefits of boycotting every single vpn service with israeli servers, but i do wonder if the israeli economy meaningfully benefits from people having servers in israel anyway. ig they'd be paying bills to israeli companies and paying for israeli internet? but like esims for gaza is also probably paying israeli telecom companies right? so it's not something that's completely verboten under bds?
if vpn services having israeli servers meaningfully benefits the israeli economy, what even is the viability of a campaign for them to divest? considering we'd be campaigning against every popular international vpn company when a lot of ppl in the bds movement probably don't even use vpns or care about them?
i guess that probably points to vpn companies not being a strategic target right? idk, it's just something that's been nagging me for years since i tried looking into a vpn service to buy that A. i trusted to not give my data to the government and B. didn't have servers in israel lol. i know there are also some vpn services that only have their vpn servers in one country that isnt israel, ig i might look into those if it starts bothering me too much, im just used to the vpn services that offer servers in dozens of countries

hey y'all! so I wanted to do another raffle but this time it's for a commission and I'd like each entry to be a donation towards your choice of a fundraiser benefiting Palestinians!
What you get:
if you win, you'll recieve a commission from me! the commission will be on an 11x14-inch wood panel that'll be ready to hang up! after you win we'll talk about what you'd like me to do and I'll get started! my only specification is that it needs to be Star Trek and it's got to be something I can do with what I have already unless you'd like to pay the cost for me to order something specific. I have a couple of hundred Star Trek magazines though, whatever you're thinking is probably doable if I dig enough!
How I do it:
I've got a cute little spin-the-wheel app! I'll put each entry on the wheel then record the first spin to post here. I'll do it a month from now (2/25/2024)
How to enter:
for every $10 you donate, you get an entry! you can get as many entries as you'd like to increase your odds. you can choose multiple fundraisers! you just need to message me with proof of your donations. I'm going to list some options but if there's somewhere or someone else you'd like to donate to, that's totally okay! my only guidelines are that your donation benefits Palestinians and it can't be a donation you made before this raffle.
Some donation options:
Palestine Children Relief Fund
eSims for Gaza
World Food Programme
Care For Gaza
Palestine Red Crescent Society
Medical Aid for Palestinians
thank you and good luck! 🇵🇸

Tumblr media
Hello everybody! Today, I come to you off-character to touch on such a heavy topic that is the ongoing genocide taking place in Palestine. For the past month, Gaza and the West Bank has been unrelentingly attacked by Israel in retaliation against a surprise attack by Hamas - an armed Palestian group, who was in fact partially funded by Israel in the 70s.
Currently, Gaza stands practically without resources such as fuel, water, food and medical supplies while bombings continue. The little that manages to pass through is thanks to the continuous work of organisations that help to pass on donations to the people inside.
As we witness such a strong wave of hate take over our society due to the escalation of actions of a powerful group of bigots way back in the 20s, it truly is painful to see how they have succeeded in dividing us to their own gains. The Jewish have suffered too much to now have to see a settler state commit the same crimes it was once inflicted upon them. Likewise, the Palestinians have been in forcefully stripped of everything they have, and now what’s being demanded of them is their families and their lives. Nobody deserves this.
Therefore, my goal here is to try and fundraise whatever little possible in benefit of Palestine. There are three ways I wish to help:
1) Donations to the UNRWA: The United Nations Agency Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East is one of the main sources of assistance for Palestinians as circa 717 000 people are currently sheltering in 149 UNRWA facilities. Most recently, one of their schools has been bombed in Jabalia, resulting in the 15 deaths and 70 injuries.
2) Donations to the Medical Aid for Palestinians: MAP have been instrumental in providing help to Palestine, managing to supply them with essential medication, medical supplies, hygiene kits and even mattresses and blankets. One of the main consequences of this siege is the eminent threat of a public health crisis with a possible spread of infectious diseases and it’s instrumental to Palestinians to have access to more supplies as soon as possible.
3) Donations to #ConnectingGaza: This is an initiative from writer Mirna El Helbawi to supply eSIMS to people. Connections often go dark in Palestine as Israel shuts them off prior to attacks, so Palestinians often rely on these eSIMS hosted abroad to reach their families, obtain help and coordinate the delivery of donations.
I’ve created a PayPal account for this purpose with the money being split equally between these three organisations. I have a small blog but my number of followers is non-negligible, and as every penny counts I could not ignore the possibility of being there for Palestine in the only way I could. Please, whatever you can give works just well, and if you don’t have anything to give you can still reblog this!
If you don’t trust an internet stranger, however, and you wish to donate directly to these charities, by all means do! In their websites they have instructions on how you can collaborate, this fundraiser is only here to make it even easier for you to help. I fully intend on updating you daily with how much has been raised and passing all I have directly to the organisations above. Whoever tries to con you guys with such a severe topic is going straight to megahell.
Here’s my PayPal: LINK

I need people on Tumblr to understand that a Palestinian (or Sudanese or Congolese or literally anyone requesting mutual aid) person using the same text in their posts as another Palestinian person when asking for aid is not necessarily a bot. There are these things called scripts, and these are often written by people with mastery of English for those without to plug their information into so that they have a lower chance of miscommunicating their needs. Because these people who write these scripts care about other human beings and want to help them get their needs met. You have GOT to stop going into the replies of people’s posts where they are literally begging for aid so that their families can stay alive and saying “oh this is probably a bot they sound suspiciously like x other blog.”
Also, understand that on gofundme, people who do not currently live in the affected region almost always start the campaign for people they know and love who are trapped in a location undergoing active genocide, because they have stable access to the internet and their loved ones don’t. Sometimes they provide introductory text on the gofundme page before putting their loved ones’ translated messages, but sometimes they don’t. Just because the location of the organizer is somewhere other than Gaza and the text of the fundraiser is from someone still in Gaza does not mean the campaign is fraudulent. DO NOT REPORT PEOPLE BASED ON THIS. DO NOT REPLY TO THEIR POSTS WARNING PEOPLE OFF AND BOASTING OF YOUR “CLEVER DETECTIVE WORK.” YOU ARE NOT AS CLEVER AS YOU BELIEVE.
You know what you can do instead? Actually talk to the person! All you have to do is assume the person you’re talking to is human and treat them with basic human decency. If you aren’t sure about someone’s fundraiser, go into their DMs and tell them you’re sorry for what’s happening to them! Say that your heart goes out to their families! Ask if they need an eSIM. Tell them that you’d like to know more about their situation because you want to make a post for them. It will become clear pretty fucking quickly whether they’re a bot or not. This has the triple benefit of a) making them feel like people give a shit about them b) helping their campaign reach a wider audience and c) teaching you to be less of a suspicious asshole who would rather ruin a real person’s only hope of FUCKING SURVIVAL on the off chance of being right on the internet.

Also quick fact about scams of this nature is that they're done with human trafficking. People are abducted and forced to run these scams for upwards of 15 hours a day, every day. So not only are they siphoning money from something like the World Kitchen that would've actually benefited people, but it goes to human traffickers.
Staff should really do something about it, but currently they're half assing a new round of censorship that targets 99.9% innocuous posts
staff be like SORRY, TOO BUSY BANNING BEING FAT! lmaoooo
yeah seeing people like mosabsdr getting over ten thousand dollars is disheartening because I know that could have gone to real people in a warzone who need help. people in a warzone who aren't spending 18hrs a day loading up blorbo pictures on people's blogs and burning thru those esims people donate to send them hello gullible souls 🕊️♥️ fucking nonstop for two months, going around blocks to make sure I receive the same message 4 times a day y'know.
on the record, I don't think gazan fundraisers are inherently scams. i do think the anonymous inbox assailing bastards are scams, possibly being as bad as this anon mentions, and definitely directing both attention and funds away from things that could genuinely help and invoking genuine ire at real fundraisers by association. one day something will actually be done about mosabsdr, and when that day comes, I will bake a dessert in celebration.
