Looks like Dionne did todays evening show in the reveal look because of the heat! Bet the other queens were jealous she got to take a layer off! And the LIWs in short sleeved tees too
Ha, I was just coming to write up a post! Love how quick y’all are!
Tumblr media
L-R: Alice Angliss as Maria, Emma Jemima as Maggie, Kelly Morris as Bessie, Caitlin Morgan as Joan. @/thekellymorris.
They recently switched to wearing shorts for the summer months, but to my knowledge this is the first time to my knowledge that they’ve worn plain t-shirts since opening on the West End. I have a more in depth post about their costumes here.

@/danielle.rosee_
For the matinee today Dionne Ward-Anderson wore her full costume. But for the evening she only wore it up until the reveal - only her shorts were back on after.

Once upon a time in the hidden heart of France a beautiful young princess lived in a beautiful castle.
Although she had everything her heart desired, the princess was selfish and unkind.
She taxed the village to fill her castle with the most beautiful objects and her party's with the most beautiful people.
And then one night an unexpected intruder arrived at the castle, seeking shelter from the bitter storm.
As a gift she offered the princess a single rose.
Repulsed by her haggard appearance the princess turned the woman away. But she warned her not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within.
When she dismissed her again the old woman's outward appearance melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress.
The princess begged for forgiveness but it was too late, for she had seen that there was no love in the princess' heart.
As punishment she transformed her into a hideous beast and placed a powerful spell on the castle and all who lived there.
As days bled into years the princess and her servants were forgotten by the world for the enchantress had erased all memories of them from the minds of the people they loved.
But the rose she offered was truly an enchanted rose. If the princess could learn to love another and earn their love in return by the time the last petal fell, the spell would be broken.
If not she would be doomed to remain a beast for all time.
As the years past she fell in despair and lost hope.
For who could ever learn to love a beast?
.....
Catherine fixed her dress as she walked out the door, her eyes slowly adjusting to the vastly different light outside.
She took in the still quiet streets, looking up at the town's clock tower, it'd only take about a minute for the quiet to change.
In an effort to fill the silence she started muttering to herself as she went down the steps.
"Little town, it's a quiet village every day like the one before."
Catherine smiled as she went, her gaze still fixed on the clock waiting for the bell to ring inside. "Little town full of little… people."
Her gaze traveled to the windows and laundry lines. "Waking up to say.."
"Bonjour!"
"Bonjour!"
"Bonjour!"
Catherine chuckled as she waved at the people she passed, the streets which were silent and empty now bustling with life in under a second. "There goes the baker with his tray like always. The same old bread and rolls to sell."
Despite her words, she bought a roll of bread and stuffed it into her bag. "Every morning just the same."
She went up to pet one of the horses, the horse attempting to eat the few crumbs on her hands as she smiled brightly. "Since the morning that we came. To this poor, provincial town."
"Good morning Cath!"
Catherine turned around and waved, moving closer to talk. "Good morning monsieur John, have you lost something again?" She asked, a small tease in her voice.
He nodded. "Yes i believe i have, the problem is i can't remember what." Catherine laughed, like every single day.
"Oh well, i'm sure it'll come to me." He said, grinning. Cathy nodded as she turned to wander off.
"Where are you off to?" He asked, getting Cathy to turn around and dig into her bag.
She got out a book, showing off its cover. "To return a book to Edward Burgh, it's about two lovers in Fair Verona."
The other shrugged. "Sounds boring." Catherine giggled, shaking her head as she continued on her journey.
Catherine caught small pieces of chatter as she wandered through the town's large streets.
"Bonjour, good day. How is your family?" Ah Thomas, always trying to woo a new lady.
"Bonjour, good day. How is your wife?" Catherine snickered at that, turning for just a second to see the look on the man's face.
"I need six eggs… that's too expensive!"
Catherine sighed as she continued. "There must be more than this provincial life."
The woman reached her destination, taking out her book and smiling at the familiar sound of the bell ringing, which signified her presence to the man dusting.
Edward smiled. "Ah if it isn't the only bookworm in town, where did you run off to this week?"
Catherine smiled and went to put her book back in place. "Two cities in northern Italy, i didn't want to come back." She turned to him with a bright grin. "So, have you got any new places to go?" She asked.
Edward sighed, shaking his head. "I'm afraid not, but you may reread any of the old ones if you'd like."
Cathy frowned for a second, before spotting one of her favorites and taking it happily. She gave the man a coin as she clutched the book to her chest. "Thank you, your library makes our small corner of the world feel big." She said as she walked out.
"Always a pleasure, bon voyage!"
Catherine smiled and waved. "Bye!"
She immediately opened the book and started reading as she wandered back home, catching a few people talking about her but she couldn't care that much.
She smiled as she reached the flower shops, just in time for her favorite part.
"Oh, isn't this amazing? It's my favorite part because.. you'll see.." She flipped another page. "Here's where she meets prince charming, but she won't discover that it's him till chapter three."
"Look at her, Bessie." Henry Tudor put down his monocular and gave it to the girl beside him. The two stood on a hill a bit away from the village, both on horseback.
"My future wife." He added as Bessie adjusted so she could see as well. "Catherine is the most beautiful girl in the village, that makes her the best."
Bessie pushed down her offense at the comment and gave the man his monocular back. "But she's so well read and you're so.." She bit back the word 'not'. "Athletically inclined."
Henry grinned. "I know, Catherine can be as argumentative as she is beautiful."
"Exactly! Who needs her when you've got us?" Bessie said rather enthusiastically.
"Yes, but ever since the war i've felt i've been missing something. She's the only girl that gives me that sense of.." Henry stopped, trying to find the right words to describe it.
Bessie searched through her mind for a second in an attempt to aid. "Je ne sais quoi?"
"I don't know what that means."
Bessie froze in a moment of confusion before following alongside the man into the village.
"Right from the moment when i met her, saw her. I said 'she's gorgeous!' and i fell." Henry started. Bessie raised a brow as she turned to the three women staring at them walking by.
"Here in town there's only she, who is beautiful as me, so i'm making plans to woo and marry Catherine."
The two dismounted, a few people immediately rushing to their aid with their horses.
The three women quickly ran out of their small boutique to gush over the man, which Bessie had to resist the urge to gag at.
"Oh there he goes, isn't he dreamy? Monsieur Henry! Oh, he's so cute! Be still my heart, I'm hardly breathing!"
Henry spared them a single glance.
"He's such a tall, dark, strong and handsome brute!"
And with that Henry's horse stepped a little too hard in a puddle of mud, sending splashes of it onto the three.
Henry walked away from them, While Bessie quickly rushed over to them. "Never gonna happen ladies." She whispered before she followed the older man.
Catherine still walked through the market while reading, though minding to greet anyone who greeted her. There was still a lot of chatter around her, in fact it was kind of hard to get through the swarm of people.
She closed her book with a sigh as she reached the fountain where she took her chance and tossed a coin in. "There must be more than this provincial life!"
"Just watch, I'm going to make Cath my wife!"
Catherine continued reading again as she walked, now noticing most of the chatter was about her.
"Good morning Catherine!" And as if on cue the many people behind her continued with their day and normal conversations.
She gave a polite smile to the man and closed her book to take part in the inevitable conversation.
"Lovely book you have there." He said, a little hesitant.
Her smile brightened immediately bringing it closer to Henry's view. "Have you read it?"
Henry stopped for a second. "Well, no. But i've read.. books." He handed her the flowers he'd gotten in an attempt to change the topic. "Here, for your dinner table." He said.
Catherine hesitated, but put her book away and took the flowers with a small smile.
"Shall i join you this evening?"
Catherine's smile dropped. "Sorry, not this evening." She said as she slowly backed away.
Henry raised a brow. "Busy?"
Catherine grimaced as she turned around to head for her house. "Not exactly." She said before leaving completely.
Bessie approached, whistling. "Giving up yet?"
Henry hummed. "No, Bessie. It's the ones who play hard to get that are always the sweetest prey." He said.
Bessie sighed, groaning softly.
"That's what makes Catherine so appealing. She hasn't made a fool of herself trying to gain my favor. What would you call that?"
"Dignity?"
"Outrageously attractive, isn't it?"
Catherine let out a sigh of relief as she closed the door behind her, immediate relaxation hitting her as she untensed.
A quiet humming filled her ears, accompanied by the sound of a music box. Catherine smiled softly, wandering to the source of the sound.
She found her mother, humming to herself as she messed around with a music box, one she'd personally crafted to depict her family.
Maud grabbed a tool before she started to sing softly. "How does a moment last forever, how can a story never end?"
Catherine's eyes wandered to a portrait mounted on the wall, one of her as a child with her father. Clearly, she wasn't the only one.
"It is love we must hold on to, never easy but we try." Maud turned back to her work, smiling at the moment it portrayed. "Sometimes our happiness is captured, somehow a time and place stand still. Love lives on inside our hearts, and always will."
Maud looked up, jumping back slightly when she saw her daughter. "Oh! Cath."
Catherine smiled as she came closer.
"Oh, could you hand me a…" Maud stopped to think of the tools name for a moment, while Catherine chuckled and got what she guessed was needed out.
"Oh, thank you." Maud said, getting a giggle out of Catherine as she handed the tool.
"Oh could you get me a.."
Catherine hummed as she searched again before showing what she thought Maud had needed.
Maud smiled but shook her head.
"Oh wait, yeah that is.. what i need. "Thank you, love." Maud said, smiling sheepishly. Catherine laughed softly.
She hummed in thought as she watched her mother work.
"Mama, do you think i'm odd?" She asked quietly, maybe the chatter had gotten more to her then she'd initially thought. Maud raised a brow.
"Odd? My daughter? Odd? Where did you get that idea?" Maud asked, a hand on Catherine's knee in comfort.
"I don't know. People talk." Catherine shrugged. Maud huffed.
"This is a small village you know, small minded as well. But small also means safe."
Before Catherine could add anything, Maud continued. "Even back in Paris i knew a boy like you. He was so.. ahead of his time. So different. They all mocked him, until the day they all found themselves imitating him."
Catherine listened intently, taking her mothers hand in her own. "Could you tell me more about him?"
Maud nodded softly. "Your father was…. Fearless."
Catherine smiled, squeezing her mothers hand.
Maud looked her up and down for a second before getting her own smile. "Fearless."
She took her hand back in order to close up her music box and put it away. "So.. what can i bring you from the market?"
Catherine hummed. "A rose." She responded. "Like the one in the painting."
Maud laughed. "You ask for that every year."
Catherine chuckled and pressed a kiss to her mothers cheek. "And every year you bring me one."
Maud returned the kiss before she continued. "And i shall bring you another one. You have my word."
Catherine followed her mother outside after an extensive routine to check if she had everything she needed.
Maud mounted the family's mare, Catherine going up to give it a treat in the form of an apple as she did.
"Bye, Mama." She exclaimed as her mother rode off, Maud immediately waving back.
"I'll see you tomorrow!"
Catherine smiled as she watched her mother ride away. The moment she lost sight of her she turned and got back into the house.
A pile of laundry awaited her inside. Right yeah she still had to do that.
Catherine examined all the supplies in the room.
Or… maybe.

He stepped off the plane in Arkansas, still wearing his tailored suit and polished shoes. His hair was perfectly styled, and his cologne hinted at his preppy lifestyle. But as the days of his vacation passed, something began to change.
The first night, he found himself in a local bar, drawn by the live country music. He ordered a beer—cheap and cold—and it tasted surprisingly good. By the third round, he was on the dance floor, moving awkwardly at first but soon matching the rhythm of the locals. His suit jacket was off, tie loosened, and shirt untucked.
The next morning, he woke up with a hangover and a new friend, a local named Hank. Hank took him fishing that day. At first, he fumbled with the gear, but by the end of the afternoon, he had caught a couple of bass. He was hooked, not just on the fishing but on the simplicity of it all. His phone, once glued to his hand, was left in the car.
Days turned into weeks. He bought a pair of jeans, a flannel shirt, and cowboy boots. His preppy wardrobe was pushed to the back of the closet in his rented cabin. He started chewing tobacco, the can always in his back pocket. His hair grew longer and wilder, his clean shave replaced by a scruffy beard.
Tumblr media
He found himself at a mudding event, tearing through the dirt in a borrowed pickup truck. The thrill of it sent adrenaline rushing through him. The city life, with its deadlines and pressures, seemed a distant memory. His days were now filled with fishing, hunting, and drinking with the locals. He even joined a local shooting club, becoming adept with a rifle.
The preppy accent disappeared, replaced by a thick Southern drawl. His polished manners gave way to a more rough-and-tumble attitude. He spat tobacco juice into cans with precision, laughed louder, and cursed freely. He felt more alive, more himself than he ever had in the city.
Months passed, and he bought a small house on the outskirts of town. His sedan was sold, replaced by a beat-up pickup truck he affectionately called "Ol' Bessie." He spent his weekends at bonfires, drinking moonshine and listening to Hank strum his guitar.
One night, as he lay in bed, he tried to recall his old life. The office, the meetings, the sophisticated parties—everything seemed so far away, almost like a dream. Faces and names blurred, and he couldn't remember the last time he had thought about them. The transformation was complete; he was now a redneck, through and through, his preppy self lost to the backwoods of Arkansas.

for once I’m not asking for angst 🤞 what kind of music would the modern au characters like? Like genres and bands :)
completely biased because i listen exclusively to musicals and late 00s teenage angst black parade is forever BUT
arthur: country music. including white girl country-pop music. can be caught doing little shuffle steps as he discreetly tries to dance along to a song stuck in his head while mumbling the lyrics under his breath. has main character moments smoking outside at night listening to need you now by lady a.
lenny: really into remixes. likes the extra pep it puts in his step, will accidentally walk to the beat and look like a dork. surprising amount of rock. but anything that's super lyrical, songs that tell a story, he will add to his playlist. duets what you own from rent with sean on karaoke nights.
sean: could not name a single band or genre he listens to because it's just anything with a high enough bpm to make his brain buzz. honorable mention to the cranberries and flogging molly but will do a fully choreographed routine to jailhouse rock without a single drink in his system.
hosea+bessie: any old timey easy listening ballads, occasional swing. hosea can't sing to save his life bless him but will still sing the really cheesy romantic lines to bessie as they slow dance in the living room after a few glasses of wine they're so in love please. anything that would be a first dance song at a wedding they have in their playlist
dutch: opera and orchestra forever. exact same music he listened to at camp will go on about kids these days and the hippity hop they dare call music. it takes him exactly 3 seconds after being introduced to cds and digital downloads to become a vinyl purist even complains about record players over gramophone.
annabelle+susan: annabelle is probably the most adapted to modern era she will listen to anything radio popular and susan is the same way inclined thanks to her job at at the local pub. but they both particularly enjoy bonnie tyler, kate bush and a sneaky bit of abba. think mamma mia is a cinematic masterpiece.
molly: mitski. boygenius. phoebe bridgers. aurora. any indie female lead who sings about broken hearts/betrayal/angry break up songs. listens to a suspicious amount of queer artists too.
kieran: the definition of 'i'll just be here listening to my tunes' only for the speakers to immediately cut to screamo. occasionally they can hear the bass through his headphones and gently remind him to turn it down to protect his hearing. despite this he will always get the mlp theme song stuck in arthur's head at the worst times.
javier: disgusted that disco was dead by the time he timewarped. just wants to boogie to that 70s funky beats. definitely has a playlist dedicated to john marston that is just any song with a reference to wolves. thinks he's hilarious. is the reason john can identity hungry like the wolf within two seconds of it starting (he walks out) (javier learned it on guitar. and both in english and spanish)
jack+isaac: mcr, panic, fallout boy. they will forever be on that angsty teenage bullshit. isaac may have designed them fabulous killjoy ocs and jack proceeded to write a 100k word self-insert fanfic about them. and they have matching mcr lyric tattoos. and mutually agree the kids from yesterday was actually written about them. play that g note and they both collapse with sorrow.

Roots Magic Sextet - Long Old Road - they’ve added two members for this new set of spiritual jazz, one of several great March releases from Clean Feed
Since their appearance at the 2021 edition of the Jazz em Agosto festival Roots Magic confirmed the new sextet line-up featuring veteran multi reeds player Eugenio Colombo and vibes specialist Francesco Lo Cascio. "Long Old Road'' is the group's fourth Clean Feed release and for the first time the track list includes a higher number of original compositions as counterpoint to the usual selection of reworked tunes from the early blues/free jazz repertoire. Two of the original compositions come as dedications in spirit to Muhal Richard Abrams and Abdul Wadud while others include literary quotes from writers and activists such as Toni Morrison, Benjamin Zephanian and Z-Z.Packer. The album opens with the soulful beat of a Kahil el Zabar piece and develops through an extremely varied program including vibrant grooves, ecstatic free jazz explosions and overtly poetic zones; among these: a meditative, abstract rendition of Bessie Smith's classic "Long Old Road" and a closing triumphant version of Cal Massey's "Things have got to change". Needless to add that this expanded line up offers a wider sound palette full of new colors and timbres, all ingredients that enrich the already solid Roots Magic concept. Alberto Popolla clarinets, electric bass, banjo Errico De Fabritiis alto and baritone saxophones Eugenio Colombo flutes, soprano saxophone Francesco Lo Cascio vibraphone, percussion Gianfranco Tedeschi double bass Fabrizio Spera drums, percussion, zither All music by Popolla, Colombo, De Fabritiis, Lo Cascio, Tedeschi, Spera (SIAE) except where indicated

Fisherman's Log: 8/23/2023
All rested up nice and early today (comparatively), so it's time to fish! I already played a little before typing this up, since I was waiting for my Totino's Party Pizza to finish cooking. So let's get right into it!
📋 Info Board - Catch 9 fish Reward: +1 gem - Catch 7 x Plastic Bottle Reward: +525 coins - Catch 2 x Muskie Reward: +2 gems
Notably, the specific Plastic Bottle it wants from me is the one from the Great Lakes, so that's our base of operations for today. As of writing this, I've completed "catch 9 fish", and I'm working on the other two. I've gotten some nice gains, with a 2-star Lake Trout and a 3-star Brook Trout to add to the tank, among others that I must not have felt were significant enough to write down. I was having a hell of a time finding my daily NPC, though, until I saw some shady fucker standing on the shore and went up to talk to him. This is Agent S.; he doesn't give you literally anything, and apparently nobody knows what his deal is so everyone just ignores him??? Despite not giving me a quest, he appears to have taken up my slot for the day.
Right now, I'm in Muskellunge Struggle Tweets hell. I had something on my line that I could've sworn was one, but my pole snapped as I was dragging it up to the boat, so I'll never know. I did get a 3-star Alewife, which I weirdly didn't have in the Fish Tank yet. This means the only things I'm missing are a Goldfish, Bessie, and that damn Muskie. A bass fishing tournament came up during that visit home, but... the entry fee is 500 coins, and with me saving up for Alaska and other unlocks, I can't really spare that when the lowest prize tier gives back half as much.
I seriously caught a Lake Sturgeon before even having seen a Muskie yet! After being led to believe that that bitch only shows up at night! No, no, no, update: three Lake Sturgeons! What the hell is happening? This cannot continue. New plan: I'm getting a garbage grabber rod and farming trash until Temporary Luck procs. This is insane.
Update from just before nightfall: I give up on this damn Muskie. I used two Rare Bait and I got Lake Trout both times. Fuck this noise!! I was able to get a little closer to the Plastic Bottle goal, but then my rod broke and I hit Temporary Luck again so I decided I was going to get a Carbon Rod and go back to Costa Rica to try for the Black Marlin again.
And I did it! I caught one!
But um. J...just one question.
Tumblr media
What's with the human teeth?
Ignoring that evil, evil, evil face, I'm happy enough with this to close the app for the night. My Luck (mechanic) hasn't run out yet, but I'm feeling yucky and making myself play this is making it worse so I'm going to draw instead. As a parting gift, enjoy these two player names that really tickled me:

Nick & Emre encounter Mik & Jupiter in the Labyrinth.
Thanks Gigi for writing both Emre & Jupiter (together), and importantly special guest Bessie.
Note: Assume anything without a bolded name is Mik
“Oh boy, okay -oooh! You’re close.  Okay, yeah - ” Jupiter said, caught between not wanting Mik to get upset now, but not wanting to make him do anything he’d deeply regret later. He was so close, millimeters away and closing in for a kiss.  He was warm and obviously attentive, and if this was any other situation, Jupiter might’ve actually gone for it (or dissolved into awkward giggles and ruined the mood).
Fortunately, she was saved a moral-dilemma, when the branches shook, and the birds and insects fell silent.  A chill ran down her spine; five years in the Labyrinth meant she picked up on even the smallest signal.  Listen to the Labyrinth, and survive.  Ignore it, and you were toast.
She grabbed Mik, about to tell him they needed to run - but she didn’t get that chance.
Admittedly Mik wasn’t the Labyrinth’s, and apparently the jungle had opened right up to him except Nick fought through the vines to reveal a scene he couldn’t have concocted by himself. If Emre wasn’t far behind Nick never would’ve known. He’d forced his way through the dense bush to witness Jupiter and Mik all cosy up together. “Mik…” He wouldn’t have been bothered by it, they’d always operated on an open policy, but given the agonising he’d done over Mik. It hit different. “Interrupting your jungle party?” He blurted, without putting much thought or consideration into his words.
Miss Jupiter hesitated, pulling back. He stayed in close, just in case she needed the moment to breathe, to decide if she really wanted this. He was arrogant enough to think that she did, that she just needed to talk herself into this...
Except something came crashing through the trees, a small something. A tiny little white guy, twigs sticking out of his hair. He looked upset, maybe he was supposed to be working with Miss Jupiter? Was he with Miss Jupiter?
Something about him was familiar, but trying to figure out why was like trying to catch the mist that pooled out of your mouth on a cool morning. And then his attention was grabbed by the next thing the tiny guy said. "There's a jungle party?" he asked, slipping into a wide, easy smile. His eyes focused somewhere further into the jungle, hearing a steady rumbling bass line. And then he saw it, some rave lights in the distance, fluorescent green and orange and pink. "I think they're playing Sandstorm, come on," he said, grabbing Miss Jupiter's hand. "I've got VIP tickets."
It was Nick. It was Nick!!! Oh sweet jesus...it was Nick.  "Oh my god - Nick, I - thank god you're -"  Jupiter tried to say, but she was flush and heated with embarrassment (and with the winning hypnotic charms of one damn amnesiac playa) so she just ended up stammering like a fool who sounded very guilty.   A part of her did point out that of all reactions considered, Nick's was fairly chill. Maybe it was the keep calm and carry on Britishness or something.  If she saw some skank making moves on her man (Kirk, of course), she would be be all claws, teeth, and kicks.  But of course Jupiter wasn't aware of Mik and Nick's relationship arrangements; all she felt was both relief and guilt.
Mik swept up her hand to lead her towards Sandstorm, and Jupiter squeaked.  "Oh Nick - he doesn't remember who he is," Jupiter whispered, as she followed along to keep up the ruse for poor Mik's sake. "Sun madness! Come with -”
But then it felt like Jupiter heard noise too - not a jungle party, but certainly something heavy and rhythmic.  Before she could even process, a huge beast - no!  One of the farm water buffalo! - cam trotting out of a path that opened up through its trampling.  Behind, with a switch to direct the buffalo, was that wiry Englishman criminal dude who was in charge of the farm.
"Oi oi yoy yoy - cow stop," Emre called out, a hand on the cow's rump to pat it hard.  He grinned at Nick. "Found you, mate.  Found cow too.  And - you found Mik... with a girl, then?”
"Excuse you,” Jupiter shored herself up. "I'm a full grownass woman, not a girl."
Nick brushed a hand through his hair but instead of pulling out the debris from his squeeze through the Labyrinth, he got his fingers caught instead. So much for making himself presentable but apparently it didn’t matter. Mik was apparently too preoccupied, with Jupiter of all people. He wouldn’t have ever clocked it not until she let him in on the secret they were carrying away together. Sun madness. Nick stared between them as they both prepared to make a swift exit. “Hold up– -”
He could hear something, but it was hard to pinpoint what, until the cow barged on through the newest path. “Oh great, I thought we lost you.” We would’ve been he and Mik, if Mik wasn’t looking totally oblivious to his existence right now. Nick eased up to Mik only half-aware that people with sun madness needed to be dealt with gently. He rubbed Mik’s arm. “Hey babe…you feeling okay?” This was not how he’d planned their reunion. Surrounded on all sides by onlookers with Mik practically in Jupiter’s arms.
“Mik it’s me. It’s all good we’re gonna get you back now, yeah?”
The beat got closer and closer, except it wasn't a rave beat at all. He gasped in surprise as a big cow with huge horns crossed their path, lead by a guy whacking its back with a thin branch. His surprise faded into a grin of delight as he stepped towards the stopped cow, who blinked steadily at them.
"Hey, nice cow!" he said enthusiastically, grinning to the guy behind it. "Can I pet it?" he asked, already stepping forward to give it a soft pet on the nose.
Except there was a tugging at his arm, the little guy. Asking if he felt okay, saying that they were going to go back. There was a look on the little guy's face, such intense concern and hope... He felt a little guilty from that look, as if he should be doing something different, if he should feel something from the way he was called babe. "But... there's a cow here," he earnestly said to the little guy, as if that explained everything. "I haven't seen one up close before. They smell pretty bad. Do you have any apples?"
Emre's grin turned lopsided, as Mik enthused so cheerfully about the cow, so delighted and sweet. This...was not how Emre had imagined sun-madness.  Maybe it was dark of him, but he always imagined it like a drug addiction relapse, or some unfortunate mental state full of paranoia and delusion and, inevitably, violence.
But Mik was a bubbling font of joy, which in a few seconds changed up Emre's perspective, made it wider and more encompassing.  'Madness' could mean literally anything, he realized, nodding to give Mik permission to pet the cow, which Mik was doing already.  Cow, to her credit, was a good and passive beast.  Mik was asking Nick for apples, and so Emre leaned in closer to Jupiter.  "You know the way back?" Emre asked quietly - and when Jupiter turned, she could see a path with lanterns like the one Emre held.  Libby's lanterns on the bridge, in the distance.  "Can you take cow?"
"I guess.  But...Mik," Jupiter said, worried about the sweet sun-mad man.  The English criminal dude was co-signed by Libby, and her husband, and that Seamus guy too, though. Maybe he was better suited to help Mik.  She took a hold of the switch, as Emre murmured some more instructions her way. Then, Jupiter turned to Mik with a sweet smile. "Hey baby!  Okay, I'mma take the buffalo back to the, uh, the resort petting zoo!  You can follow me with these - um - with my coworkers here, if you like?  Come on cow.  Really, they gotta give you a better name than cow.  Maybe 'Bessie' at least."
“Yeah I don’t have any apples big guy.” Nick squeezed Mik’s arm but that was about as much as he could get out of him. He was practically gone already prefixed with petting the cow. Nick dropped back, it was just the sun madness, Mik was still in there somewhere. Right? “Jupiter…” He said, dropping his voice low enough for just them, “thanks y’know, for finding him. Keeping him safe.” Nick’s gaze flickered back over to Mik who looked lost and more than a little delirious. He’d heard of the sun madness but Nick had never dealt with it up close and personal. Certainly not to the point of someone being wiped out with no memories.
Nick taking a cue from Jupiter leant in to coaxing Mik away from the cow. “Yeah, we’re uh…going to let you visit the petting zoo later. You fancy going and getting a daiquiri first? Something fruity and sweet?” Could he reach out to him? Would that be too much? Before Nick gingerly stepped forward into Nick’s circled he part hissed, part whispered to Emre. “Do you know what to do for sun madness? Tomas ever given you anything?”
He didn't see why Miss Jupiter would have to go alone to the resort petting zoo, why he couldn't go along with her. Sure the tiny guy and the wiry guy seemed fine, but he wanted to ask important questions about the cow. Like was it sick, was that why it wasn't white and black? Or if there were apples at the resort he could feed her later...
But Miss Jupiter waved goodbye and swatted the cow away, and he was left with... these guys. Who offered to get him a drink, he was feeling awful thirsty. Half-way through agreeing, he watched as the tiny guy whispered something to the wiry guy. His heart panged in sudden anxiety, no no no no he didn't trust them. Why were they whispering right in front of him? He stepped back, and his shoulder hit a branch and flared up with pain. When did his shoulder hurt? Was he roofied, was that why they wanted him to have more drinks?
"I'm not going with you," he declared, backing up slowly. Back into the jungle, yes... yes it was safe in there, cool and dark. Why would he ever want to leave?
Jupiter felt so bad leaving Mik but wasn't she leaving him in the right hands?  His man and...okay maybe not that other guy, but.  With the literal cow in the room, Bessie had to be looked after as well. Mik would be fine, she worried, as she led the ambling beast down the bridge, relieved to be out of the Labyrinth. Emre let Nick take the Mik-lead, but he was watching Mik keenly.
Unfortunately, Emre realized too late that maybe Jupiter and cow (and not Nick) were the key to luring Mik to safety; especially when Mik's cheerfulness dropped, replaced by an ominous wariness.  Emre knew that look.  Trepidation that things were going to go sideways for Mik.  Two against one; that was that look.
"We've got to get him in the sun," Emre told Nick.  "That's all I know.  He needs sun-expos - whoa whoa whoa!  Where you going, bruv?"  Emre said, swiftly flanking Mik when he backed away so hard, it seemed he hit an injury.  "You harmed?  You've got to get that looked after, it could get worse mate."
To say he was unaffected by Mik looking at him as if he were an annoyance, or someone to fear, would’ve been one hell of a lie. Nick wavered and was taken aback when it was Emre that stepped up first. All to prevent Mik wondering deeper into the Labyrinth. He nodded mutely. What was it that Jupiter had been saying? Something about a resort, wasn’t it. Was this what they were supposed to do for the sun deprived? Coax them out with lies until they could bask in the sun. It wasn’t the way he wanted this to go. “Hey…easy, easy Mik, don’t you remember me?”
Nick put on his brightest smile the sort he’d used to negotiate friendly banter for better cuts. He stepped in a little closer and reached for Mik’s better hand. “Babe not here to hurt you, I promise. Found you now, right? Just gotta bring you home. C’mon you’ll feel better once you’ve had something to drink. Maybe something to eat? What you fancying?” Please, Nick pleaded to himself, don’t make this difficult.
If there was one thing he didn't like, it was how quickly the wiry guy came to his side, made some sort of point about getting his shoulder looked after. There was something about the way he acted that turned his stomach... He stepped away, the pain from his shoulder radiating down his arm, and circling his wrist. He looked down in horror as a cut seemingly manifested there, raw and red, as if someone had tried to cut his hand clean off...
And then the little guy stepped forward, asking if he remembered him. "I don't know you!" he snapped, clutching his hand protectively to his wrist. A smell, a memory flooded his mind, burning flesh, a panicked scream. What the hell would these people do to him? "Just... just leave me alone," he said, wheeling backwards further into the jungle.
Nick's appeal didn't work. Nick was supposed to work, but the sun-madness was too much for Mik, it seemed.  The poor bastard had been in the Labyrinth for too long, wandering in the dark. And now - scared, hostile, ready to bolt in fear. He pedaled deeper into the Labyrinth, quietly alarming Emre internally.  They'd just found him alive and relatively well, and now they could lose Mik forever? No. Unacceptable.
So Emre reacted by instinct alone: subdue and overcome.  He nipped close enough to make contact, and struck with a compact, expert swiftness.  Emre's intent:  first, to strike Mik's wounded shoulder and distract him with the pain. Then, a swift crack to the head, to knock Mik out, or at least knock him to his knees.  Woozy enough for Emre and Nick to haul Mik out into the sunlight again.
I don’t know you. Burned right through him as if Mik himself was emanating heat. Nick was too stunned to speak almost entirely caught up in the horror of Mik forgetting him after all these years when Mik screamed. “Mik!” It was too late, he’d back pedalled deeper into the jungle like a hotshot. He lurched into action after him but not quick enough. Emre got there first. Nick shortly after to witness him striking Mik in the shoulder. “The fuc– -” The panic was immediate. He’d thought when all was said and done, once Emre had gotten his stupid fucking cow he’d leave. But apparently no, it wasn’t enough, he had to ruin this too.
Nick barrelled forwards to shove Emre to the side. “Get the fuck off of him!” It didn’t matter he was too late. Nick dropped down to his knees to hold up Mik’s drooping head. “Mik, babe,” he uttered, the panic draining fast for abject horror. “Fuck. That wasn’t fucking necessary, the fuck you’d do that for?” Nick hissed up at Emre. It was too much. They could’ve gotten him out without having to resort to Emre’s baseline of violence.
He didn't want to go with them, but it didn't seem like he had a choice. The wiry guy snapped forward like a cobra and hit him in the shoulder. And before he could protect himself further, something cracked against his skull and everything faded to blissful black. He could almost hear some voices, like trying to listen to a conversation while under water at the pool.
Nick reached for Mik, and Emre fell back - but just to round to Mik's other side. Mik was still blinking and breathing, deeply disoriented but maybe not completely KO.  That was good. It meant they could drag him along instead of carrying him; Mik was a big boy after all, and Nick seemed mostly show-muscles instead of work-muscles.
"We've got to get him out to the beach.  To the sun,"  Emre said, reaching down and scooping one of Mik's arms over his shoulder.  He motioned to Nick to do the same on the other side.  "Quick about it, mate."  If Mik was still semi-conscious, his motor skills might kick in and drag his feet in drowsy steps.  "If bruv wakes up, and we're still in here..."  Emre let the warning drip like a leaky faucet.  Nick could fill in the rest.
Nick could feel Mik sag in his hands like an impossible weight into sinking sand. “Right…” Nick uttered. Hating how it was Emre that was apparently on the ball. Nick scuttled to shift underneath Mik’s other arm. “Just be careful with him alright.” He snapped, as a means to concede defeat that this had to happen, but he wasn’t happy with it.
He heaved, and in the end it really was just dragging Mik through the jungle until they made it far enough that the lanterns relit the rest of their way. Nick could feel the sweat pooling at his back from doing his fair share in getting Mik, the lump of a weight that he was, out of the jungle. Away from the Labyrinth and importantly towards the beachy sunlight.
The comforting, soothing blackness soon started to become claustrophobic, cloying and close, musty like leaf litter. He started to groan, his shoulder aching as something pulled it over and over again, lurching forward. Pulling him? Why would that be happening? "What..." he muttered, trying to stop everything from shifting around him, his movements slow and sluggish.
"Nearly there," Emre grunted, feeling himself icing over.  The only reason that would happen at this moment, was because it felt like Mik was getting warm.  That was good, that was a good sign.  It might burn him and Nick but they'd heal (alhamdulillah, being a waterbaby).  But they also had to move fast, because Mik was already beginning to squirm.
They managed to drag Mik across the bridge, and the moment sunlight hit them, Emre released Mik into Nick's arms, pulling his backpack around his shoulders, to rustle around in there.  "Lean him against the plane.  He'll need water...or might be you'll need water,"  Emre said, taking a glug himself before he offered the waterskin to Nick.  At this point, Emre had no clue what would happen next.  He affected a casual stance, but his gaze was narrowed on Mik, for any sudden moves.
Nick dropped back down to his knees. It was evident now that Mik was burning up hotter than he had in the jungle. Nick could scarcely bare to kneel next to him. He shirked out Mik’s arm gently putting both his arms at his sides as he eased Mik against the plane. Everywhere they touched Nick could feel the red hot scald of touching an iron at boiling point.
He took the waterskin but dribbled a little water into Mik’s mouth first. Exhausted from exertion Nick collapsed back into the sand, drawing his knees up as he finally took a small sip of the water himself. He wanted more, but Mik needed it more than him. “Mik…” He whispered. “Can you hear me?” Nick dared to touch the inside of his wrist, still disgustingly hot, but there was a pulse still.
The first thing he noticed was how cold he felt, right down deep in his core. He started to shiver hard, until he was pressed up against something hard and slippery and warm. The warmth felt good, an ooey gooey caramel warmth that spread from his head to his toes. The second thing that came back was pain, a persistent, aching pain to his shoulder, and the feeling of a tight lump forming at the back of his head. He groaned and his eyes cracked open, unused to the harsh, welcoming light of day.
He wasn't alone. Someone was calling to Mik, to him. Mik blinked and focused on the person in front of him, tousled brown hair, cheekbones to die for. "Hey..." Mik said, struggling through the sludge that fuzzed his thoughts to place a name, but grounded by the calm and happiness that loosened the tension in his shoulders at seeing this person... Except he couldn't remember his name. The broad strokes were all there but the detail was missing. "What happened?"
He turned his head to the side, realising that this little reunion wasn't just between the two of them. Except this person brought no warmth. An ice cold shiver went down Mik's back as a flash of memory returned to him. His sneering smile proudly admitting his atrocities, and then a quick punch to Mik's shoulder in the jungle, the lump to the back of his head. "What the... What did you do to me?" If there was a reason his head felt like cotton buds, for why he was struggling to remember names and where he'd last been, it was bound to be Emre's fault.
"Bundle him - we've got to get him warmed," Emre noted, when Mik started to shiver.  That instruction wasn't due to Emre's experience with sun-madness, of which he'd only heard about anecdotally.  But he did know shock; and blankets (and tea) always seemed to be a solution.  Besides, given how much Madi and Iyaz always complained about the cold despite being layered in jumpers, it seemed to make sense.
Emre dashed off to hunt for garms or blankets; he found a discarded if slightly dirty wool coat. It would have to do.  By the time he returned, though, Mik was dozily eyeing his approach with suspicion in his voice and accusation in his tone.
Emre slowed, stepped forward, and lobbed the coat to Nick.  "Never you mind, mate," Emre said to Mik, then looked at Nick. "Warm him. Check his shoulder. D'you know what to look for?"
Nick didn’t leap away straight away, the little croak of a hello from Mik had given him a dash of hope. But he didn’t say much more than that, and he was still shivering like mad. Nick rummaged through the remaining salvage there wasn’t much left that hadn’t already been stripped, but he did find the tattered remains of a blanket. Looked a little like one of those airplane ones but he wasn’t paying much attention to the detail of it. Nick brought it back and just about caught the coat Emre tossed at him.
Yeah, he didn’t like the idea of Emre touching Mik, no, he didn’t like the way Emre was bossing him about as if he was in charge either. Nick’s snapped from being on the verge of cussing him out, back to Mik. “Babe we had to get you out of the damn jungle…” Nick spoke quietly, laying the remains of the blanket and then tucking it all in with the coat. Which at least gave Mik a layer between him and that filthy thing.
“Do you remember anything? Do you remember your name?” He asked, coming around to Mik’s bad side so he could crouch and peel away enough of the layer he’d just tenderly laid on him to look at his shoulder. It wasn’t dislocated? Or at least it didn’t look like it. Nick glanced over his shoulder back at the tiger-like shadow that was circling them. “I don’t know what the hell to look for, can’t you get your damn brother?”
Mik didn't appreciate Emre telling him not to worry about what he did to him. Emre was the closest thing Mik knew to a monster, he'd gloated about being a torturer for Chrissakes, and now he was bundling up Mik in sweaters and blankets. To say that Mik's eyes bulged was an understatement, especially as... the other guy defended Emre's actions. (For fucks sake, why could he remember Emre's name, but not... his?)
"Are you seriously defending him?" Mik hissed to him, trying to wriggle out of the more intensive coddling attempts, while also clutching the blankets to his chest as the shaking only worsened. "How do you know he wasn't behind... this...?"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I remember my name. Mik," he said dryly, swallowing back the fear that he hadn't remembered his name. That... this guy had just said it, and it felt right, so he'd accepted that Mik was his name. Shit, he couldn't remember his own name, but he knew that the guy standing over them both was named Emre, and that he was a fucking asshole.
Mik swatted away babe's probes at his shoulder, feeling it himself. "Not dislocated," he muttered, confirmed by some fuzzy memory that smelt of fresh cut grass and mud, menthol muscle rub and strapping tape. "So we don't need you," he glanced up at Emre, rolling his shoulder.
Despite the confusion, the pair of them managed to unite on one matter: telling Emre to piss off.  That was a good sign, Emre knew, sardonic as it was. Mik was out of the Labyrinth, Nick was here, and now the two of them could sort out the rest.  "Right," Emre said, and jogged away to find Iyaz, tell him where to find the two reunited lovebirds.
“I’m not defending him.” Nick uttered. Not liking this new attitude that Mik had sprung up. He really didn’t remember him yet? But he could recall that Emre was bad news? This stunk like shit. Nick sat back in the sand, at the very least Mik seemed to say we when telling Emre to piss off. Which he did. Thank god. Nick stared at Mik, not sure what to think, what to feel in the absence of the big reunion that he’d been daydreaming about. “You really don’t remember me, do you?”
Because the answer was self evident. “Nick…? We’ve been fucking for what like…ten years now?” If that wasn’t romantic enough Nick held up the ring that was still about his neck on a chain. “You gave this to me.” After being distraught over his absence for weeks. Fighting the fucking Labyrinth for him. This was the ultimate disappointment. To be totally forgotten.
"Hey, hey, hey, I-I remember you," Mik reassured him, even as he struggled to iron out his memories. Mik reached out for his hand only to hesitate, guided by instinct he couldn't place.
Nick. Yes of course his name was Nick. They were Mik and Nick. Except Nick wasn't happy about Mik needing to be prompted. Mik dragged a hand over his face, a little surprised to feel how filled out his beard was. "Look, I'm... I'm still trying to figure out what's just happened... I... I don't..." Mik swallowed his words, frustrated with how far out of the loop he was in that moment. And now Nick was about to throw a wobbly because Mik was a little slow to remember his name.
"Okay, listen right," Mik turned to Nick, slowly holding onto his hand. "I know you, yeah?" Mik looked deep into Nick's eyes, feeling that was true. He knew Nick, he knew him better than he knew himself. He just had to remember.
“You were in the jungle.” Nick said flatly. Ignoring Mik’s attempts to smooth things over. He didn’t want pity affection, not when Mik’s gaze was still hollow. Nick half-knew he needed to have patience that Mik had only just been drenched in sun and that memories would come back in time. “We don’t really know what happened to you in there but you went missing in the floods…” Nick chewed the inside of his cheek, how much did he tell him? “I went looking for you but you’d just…disappeared.”
Eventually he just said it. “You’ve been gone for weeks.” Letting the words hang in the air between them before he spoke again. “I actually don’t know why Jupiter was in the jungle but she’d found you?” Nick decided it was best for now to omit that he and Emre had worked together to find Mik. Given Mik’s immediate recall of him.
“Don’t know what happened to your shoulder…” Nick said honestly, because that was a sliver of truth. “Do you remember anything that happened in there?” He didn’t want to delve back into Mik not remembering him, and not knowing them. So decidedly Nick settled on objective facts that he could lean into with little inflection. "You sure you don't want someone to look at your shoulder?"
Mik's smile drooped as Nick brushed off his valiant attempts at reassuring him, doing anything to staunch the hurt that bled through Nick's eyes. Now his warm hazel eyes iced over, clinical and rational.
Mik took the information as well as could be expected. He had been in the jungle, the jungle which surrounded them now, riotous with noise. Mik nodded, though his eyebrows quirked as Nick talked about him getting lost in the floods. (The floods?) Mik mused on that point, smacking his dry lips together. "I was... scared of water?" Mik offered Nick, his only confirmation that what Nick had said was true. That he'd been gone for weeks.
Weeks? That sounded.... Fantastical. Especially given the fact that Mik could remember practically none of it. His most recent memories felt more like a dream, like if he didn't explain them they'd be gone forever. "Miss Jupiter... She..." Mik closed his eyes and focused. "She owns the cow?" And somehow that worked into Mik offering to take her dancing? "Has it really been weeks?'
He shrugged with his good shoulder at Nick's question to of what happened to his shoulder, how much he remembered. "It... It doesn't feel like * weeks,"* he nervously chuckled. Because he could barely remember the last few minutes. His shoulder was fine for now, so he waved off Nick's suggestion to get it looked at.
“Well…ever since the island water has been like your arch nemesis but no you weren’t scared of water.” It was always Mik who’d be suggesting absurd and highly ridiculous ideas. Cliff jumping came foremost to his mind. Every year they’d been on holiday Mik would find something new and senseless to do. Nick pulled his legs up into his chest and hooked his chin onto his knees. “No the cow is Tomas’ which…guess while he’s fucked off makes the cow Emre’s? The island’s? Let’s just say the islands for now.”
“Probably because you’ve been trapped in the Labyrinth, s’like a maze isn’t it? Don’t know how long you’ve been there for or where you’ve been…” Nick drew a finger through the sand half-wishing that he hadn’t wasted all the vodka. He could do with some right now. Something to soothe the ache. In an ideal world he’d get away from Mik and this plunging weight of loneliness. Rebuke any idea that Nick was attached to him by severing the line that tied them together. But no, he stayed put where he was and stared through Mik. He didn’t want to get caught up in those dark eyes not when they lacked the usual warmth.
Nick still said it anyway. “I guess I’ll leave you to it then.” He thumbed the ring that he’d been wearing around his neck. Half-tempted to yank it off like they did in the movies but frankly, he knew the truth, he knew he didn’t want to let go. “Unless…” Nick exhaled through his nose, standing up to look down at Mik, as if preparing himself for the worst. “You want to come home?”
Mik opened his mouth to clarify, that he'd been scared of water in the jungle, but it felt like a moot point. Was he still scared of water? Now that was another question entirely. He still felt disconnected from who he was supposed to be, like he'd put on a stranger's clothes. Mik sighed and let Nick's explanation of the cow wash over him. He felt like he'd been taken to church again and dropped off with his mother's friends, who all took turns to tell him what he used to do as a baby, and then gossip about people he tangentially knew.
Nick called the jungle a Labyrinth, and Mik only supposed it was right. The word was familiar though, tied to memories that acted as more like fuzzy shapes than clear pictures. He nodded in agreement with Nick. Poor guy looked heartbroken and Mik only wished he knew what to say to make it all better. He should know what to do, that was what was so frustrating. Instead he was just sat there, basking in the sunlight, memories settling like silt in his mind.
His inaction was obviously not the right answer, Nick about to leave him here. Mik startled, scared at the thought of being left behind, but Nick's conscience caught up with him. He thumbed the ring, the one Mik had given him, and extended out the offer to Mik. The offer to come home.
Home, what did that mean to Mik? It should have made him feel warm and safe, content. And Mik knew that was how he should feel, but the word was just a word to him still. He wished he could feel it, he wished he could remember giving Nick the ring. "I mean... If it's okay with you," Mik said lamely, slowly pushing himself up, first to leaning, and then to standing.  "I'll come home," he tried to say it with as much feeling as possible, sending it off with an easy, toothy smile that his face naturally slipped into.

Ellie Wyman takeover Q&A (long post)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
@/six_musical_fans on Instagram, 9 July 2022
Here’s some of the other questions that she and the cast answered:
Q: Was this your first time trying out for Six, or have you auditioned before? Ellie: So, this was actually my first ever time auditioning for Six. Um, I was in New York and I got submitted by my agent, sent in a video, and then we had four callbacks. And then I booked it!
Q: How did you find out about Six? Ellie: I first heard about Six, um... a friend of mine actually sent me Heart of Stone from the soundtrack, and was like, "This is a really cool song, like you should sing this song," and I was like, "Oh! It is a cool song!" so I started listening to the soundtrack and loved it. Um, I loved the show, obviously, as we all do... [laughs] and then I actually got to see it at London on the West End in 2020. It was like during the pandemic and they reopened for a couple of weeks and I just happened to be there, so I saw it! Ellie: I'm here with Julia (Agra)! She's our Maggie on the guitar! Where are you from? Julia: I'm from Argentina! Ellie: Wow! How did you hear about Six? Julia: My agent told me about it and then I was like, "oh my god".
Q: Favourite part of the show? Ellie: My favourite part of the show is after my song when Boleyn comes up to me and says... Casey Esbin: ...A severed head.
Q: If you were a swing, which roles would you cover? Ellie: If I were a swing for Six the Musical, I'd wanna cover Aragon for sure. Probably Seymour. And Parr. Those would by my top three. What about you, Casey? Casey: Oh man. If I was a swing, I'd probably wanna cover Cleves. 'Cause she's such a baddie. I would still do Bobo, 'cause I love her. And... maybe Howie? Both: Ooooh!
Ellie: Everyone, this is Bia (D'Ávila)! She's Maria on the drums! Bia, where are you from? Bia: I'm from Brazil! Ellie: That's so cool! Bia, if you could be any queen, who do you think you'd be? Bia: I'd love to be Cleves!
Ellie: Hey everybody! I'm here with Jungsoo (Lee). Jungsoo, who do you play in Six? Jungsoo: Hi! I'm Bessie on the bass! Ellie: Where are you from? Jungsoo: I'm from Korea - South Korea! Ellie: So cool! Jungsoo, if you could be any queen, who do you think you'd be? Jungsoo: I'll be a good Cleve! Although, my inner self is sometimes Parr.
Ellie: I'm here with Kayla (McSorley)! (...) Kayla, do you have a favourite costume? Kayla: Okay, so I like Parr because of the pants... I like Cleves because it's just like [shiny sound effects] and it's most, like, free... but the Boleyn skirt! You can pop that skirt and it's so fun to dance in! A little booty popping; I love it. Ellie: Yeah it's a good one. I think I'd wanna wear Aragon's costume 'cause it's SPIKY [zooms in camera].

Fallout: Ohio pt2
There are Jackalopes everwhere. No one knows where they keep coming from, but they’re at least good to eat.
There is a religion specific to the midwest called the Corn Gatherers. They congregate around large corn fields, where they swear their God wanders from cornfield to cornfield. This does explain why sometimes there seems to be something in there...
Other than crows there’s a large population of pigeons and wild doves. They’re surprisingly smart, and people have started using the pigeons as messenger birds again.
The most common dogs you’ll see appear to be labradors, golden retrievers, and german shepards, but mainly mutts of those breeds.
For water animals there are bass, perch, rainbow trout and bluegill sunfish. Be careful where you fish though, some are sickly or irradiated.
Nuka-cola is popular, but there seems to be another brand that was just as popular. It’s rare though, almost like... it was run into the ground by another company.
You might also find Sunset Sarsaparilla, but it’s VERY rare.
There aren’t many supermutants in Ohio, and only one behemoth.
You’ll find her near Lake Erie. She’s called Bessie.
Don’t let the name fool you.
Mirelurks are all around the waterways and lakes, but no kings or queens have been reported.

“What Is the Blues?” BBC Bitesize, www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zkbh2v4#:~:text=The%20origins%20and%20birth%20of%20the%20blues&text=Although%20the%20blues%20evolved%20in. [Accessed 8 Apr. 2024.]
evolved in the southern states of america in the late 19th century
musical influences from africa, because african enslavary brought new music when transported to north american colonies: spiritual and work songs
spiritual songs would be sung in church and work songs in the plantations. these combined with african rhythms would form the foundations of the blues
work songs would be call and response in time with the task at hand
when this combined with the folk music in america from the european settlers, this would produce a new style of music
country blues was the first version, usually a solo singer with a guitar or piano and sometimes a harmonica or drums
majority of blues musiccians are descendents from africa who were brought to america during the slave trade
country blues musicians include: lead belly, blind lemon jefferson, robert johnson
early blues:
the delta blues first recorded in 1920s and originated in missisippi in the delta (this place was full of poverty and plantation workers were living in harsh conditions)
traditional songs handed down my word of mouth, lyrics often changed.
this style is very rhythmic with strong vocals and powerful lyrics
blues music is characterised by sad melodies
bessie smith and robert johnson made the blues popular in 1920s.
by 1940s/1950s the style had developed into rhythm and blues (rnb) and was introducing new instruments like electric guitar and bass
social changes:
in early 20th centrury large numbers of people started moving to industrial cities.
after the civil war and emancipation of enslaved people, the blues spread along side the people who played it, who moved up north to places like chicago where the blues became hugely popular
new styles of blues emerged, like city blues and urban blues.
city blues was popular in black clubs and bars.
some blues styles were influenced by jazz music and had amplified bands
city blues musicians include: elmore james, howlin' wolf, t-bone walker, b.b. king
blues guitarist t-bone walker pioneered the rock guitar sound and technique
by the 1960s bl;ues had spread beyond america, to uk and western europe, eric clapton and stan webb
features of blues songs
4 beats in a bar
built on the 12 bar blues form
use 3 four-bar phrases
blues lyrics:
raw and full of emotion, dwelling on love and lonliness
about injustice and hopelssness with the longing for a better life
use slang and double meanings
passed on from musican to musician through oral tradition
impact:
the blues have impacted almost every popular musical style
the simplicity of the 12 bar structure has given artists to express within a frame work that can be interpreted in many different ways
This has helped me to get a better understanding of blues music which i need if i am to successfully relate to the Belgium&Blues bar as well as to create successful branding for them.
There are already some connections i am making between beer branding and blues music, like the features of blues songs having '4 bars' which has links to both music and a 'beer bar'.
I want to look at how visuals for blues music have evolved over time to support this research in the hope it will lead me to some visuals
