One of the earliest examples of Leo’s “I’ll do my own thing to accomplish our goal without discussing it with my team first” is in episode one. It’s super, super quick, and ultimately inconsequential, but it subtly sets up a great precedent that I think is very interesting.
When the boys need to grab the medallion from Splinter without Splinter noticing, Raph, Mikey, and Donnie huddle together with Raph taking the lead in trying to devise a plan to get the mystic device. Meanwhile, Leo slinks away and grabs the device by clocking the situation (by knowing his father well enough to predict his actions - something he does with each family member multiple times in the series) and making a move on his own.
It works out perfectly fine, and is ultimately the best move, and it’s honestly okay that he didn’t consult everyone for something so small when it’s such a non issue to get it, but it nicely sets up how this tends to go in the series, including how it goes in the movie.
To be honest episode one is actually really good at setting up a lot of things for each character in the long run, this is just one example that caught my attention, as small and unassuming as it is.

im sorry if this comes off weird. in your post about how tumblr doesnt celebrate women, a true post, you said "even the women here are men" but also said "not in a trans misogynistic way", which is a fair save but... thats not really worded inclusively at all. because it did look like you called all non-trans women trans people "men that are women" 😭 if you fixed that already im so sorry that tumblr doesnt update that across reblogs. I know it was a mispeak, no worries. just pointing it out. hopefully not to exhaustion here.
i apologize if it wasn’t worded inclusively enough! i love trans women and they are included in the point of the post (women being ignored in favor of cishet men) a) i said “even the women you TALK about here are men” I was very much referring to fandom spaces. b) i do think it’s a little strange that my post has to be worded for inclusivity? like. i would hope people would have enough brain cells to rub together to know that. the guy that goes by any pronouns and repeatedly has made many posts about loving trans women would not be talking about them.
there is not really an inclusive way to say “misogyny is so ingrained in queer/leftist spaces that the only time they talk about women anymore they are talking about men.” because no matter how i say it, someone isn’t going to be happy with that. even if i specifically say cishet they will accuse me of being transphobic towards their blorbos (cishet men) it is an easy bypass. to accuse someone of being a terf for simply.... pointing out that it’s weird the only woman people talk about is. gerard way.
also sometimes.... inclusivity is the problem. like im not trying to be mean but the reading comp/immediate jump to bad faith reading problem on this site is TERRIBLE. you really read me saying what was essentially shorthand for “this doesn’t apply to transfemmes, trans misogyny is another conversation that goes hand and hand with this one” and send me an ask about how i (person under trans flag, surrounded by trans women) didn’t address this issue nicely enough and might as well have said all trans women are men? very sorry to say that says more about how you view trans women than anything else. like. what is genuinely more important to you? i genuinely think i might be better off talking to walls at this point.

… still thinking about how Iris suggesting an annulment is really lovely in theory, but is actually completely not applicable to this situation. why does this show insist on forcing me to suspend logic and/or all legal knowledge I posses??

See life is great because learning new things is wonderful and fantastic and I love it but life sucks because trying to engage with any instructional material regardless of format is like trying to hike 1000 miles uphill in the snow

My caseload is nearly full up and at this point more than half are seeing me specifically for autism/adhd related care, and I am on deck for consultation with 2 other providers who are working with clients whose schedules were incompatible with mine and my god sometimes it really does suddenly occur to me that I have become the primary therapist for autism related care throughout a solid 1/4 of the state because it's literally either me or the local hospital affiliates.
My clients are thriving and I have never been happier than while gradually moving with them through healing.

so!!! ten birthday. any thoughts?
very fine and normal thanks for asking!!!
no but for real though, i've been waiting for the full version of this song since APRIL; he used it as a special leader stage for gdc! that version is much shorter obvs and way more of an 'nct' song, plus i think bada may have made a new choreography for the full song. to be honest a lot of my thoughts are most just AAAAAAAAAA, which is fine bc there isn't much of a deep overarching theme and i don't think that there needs to be one either. obvs i'd love to see ten tackle something on the level of taemin or kai conceptually but i think there's a really special and underrated skill in fully embodying a performance regardless of its thematic depth, because it's hard. i talked about this with chaeyeon's solo but if you don't have something to ground your performance in it becomes very easy to be unmoored, and you can lose the thread of what you're trying to portray very quickly. something that i think ten does better than pretty much every other kpop dancer is that he is profoundly excellent at embodying feeling. you can give him a basic concept with a key visual and he makes you believe that he is that concept. and he does seem to base a lot of his creative decisions on embodying feelings, he's done several interviews recently and one that stuck out to me was that he said he's had birthday on the docket since pmn, but because he was feeling a specific way for pmn, he kept it on the backburner until his next cb. working down to your theme from such broad emotional strokes is a very difficult way of working, but it allows a lot of loose creative freedom that i think suits him very well.
obvs i gotta talk about the styling too. there's some really beautiful design choices happening here, most notably to me is the use of negative space and detailing! the main costume (the transparent shirt with the carpet pants) both draws attention to his torso and arms, while also provided fringe and loose dangling bits to accentuate the movement. most of the styling actually has these two elements, which gives a very strong unity of silhouette even though there are some pretty different types of clothing happening. one tiny weird detail that i don't know if anyone other than me noticed, but with the carpet pants and the patchwork ones from the vogue 8pm concert, because there's so many layers of fabric built up around the waist, you can see in specific moments what the pants actually stay still while his waist moves inside them. not an effect that i think was intentional by the designers, but a great effect nonetheless.

Honestly the only remake I'd gladly pay money to see right now would be Twilight. The whole thing. Twist: ALL of it directed by Catherine Hardwicke. Soundtrack is 95% Muse with Iron & Wine thrown in for sappy moments. Casting? Honestly? Kristen Stewart has to come back as Bella, nobody else works for her lmao. Everyone else? Shuffle. There's a permanent blue filter and cloud cover. The camera angles are tight and disorienting the entire time. Jacob is played by someone who can maybe actually act and animate his expressions without scrunching up his face like he's shitting?
