નામની કન્યાઓ આપી કે જેના વડે યજ્ઞકર્મનો વિસ્તાર કરવામાં આવે છે. એ પ્રમાણે તે શ્રેષ્ઠ બ્રાહ્મણોનો વિવાહ કરી કર્દમે પત્નીઓ સહિત તેઓને સંતુષ્ટ કર્યા. બ્રહ્મદેવના ગયા પછી કર્દમે તેમની આજ્ઞા પ્રમાણે પોતાની પુત્રીઓ મરીચિ આદિ પ્રજાપતિઓને પરણાવી હતી.

સરસ્વતી નદી ઉપરના કર્દમ ઋષિના આશ્રમ‌ આવેલ છે.

પરબ્રહ્મ કપિલ ભગવાન પોતે અંશ વડે સત્ત્વગુણનો આશ્રય કરી સાંખ્યશાસ્ત્રનો ઉપદેશ કરવા અવતર્યા હતા.
