SONG OF THE WEEK “All in One Night” by Kris Ryder a.k.a. 1955 — lethifold migration paper, Lyall is approached by phoenix, Hope willingly comes to wales, they start working together and become friends

1957 — they fall in love

1958 — garwain dies, lyall joins the wizengamot

1959 — hope gets pregnant in June

1960 — remus is born in March — not able to put Lyall down as his legal father so they give him his last name bc they want him to know he’s loved and wanted ('we were stupid to do it, but it meant so much at the time')

1965 — riddle catches onto lyall’s research, tells him to stop, sics greyback on remus when he doesn’t as a warning

1966 — research continues, lyall disappears, hope is spirited away to phoenix, remus is sold (presumed dead)

Billy Lyall, early Bay City Roller and member of Pilot was born 26th March 1953.

Born in Edinburgh, Lyall was a keyboard player, vocalist and occasional flautist with Pilot, and an early member of the Bay City Rollers. He was keyboard player for Dollar between 1978 & 1982, and also contributed to The Alan Parsons Project with fellow Pilot members. He left Pilot in early 1976 and released a solo album, Solo Casting later that year. He later played keyboards for Sheena Easton’s band.

Billy Lyall died of aids related causes in 1989, aged 36.

I’ve chosen the song Magic by Pilot, written by Lyall and David Paton. According to Paton it was inspired by the sunrise on Blackford Hill, Edinburgh. Paton also stated that at the time, his wife said she’d “never seen a daybreak,” which also inspired the song. Magic is still played around the world and has been used in many TV adverts, I reckon Paton must still be getting loads for the royalties on it. The song was a worldwide hit, reaching on 11 here at home, but got number 1 in Canada and was top 5 on the US Billboard hot 100.

i wanted to share some old TTS-related arts that were actually very formative for my original characters (because I felt mildly nostalgic, and don't hate all my old stuff right now)

The other half of that Hubert piece was--you guessed it!--actually Caspar (which I was too embarrassed to share at the time-- kinda still am, but my like for the composition outweighs that atm). I am very tempted to redo this one, and try some show-style rendering, just for kicks

I wanted this Cass-Cas nickname mixup peppered throughout their Road Trip saga, in both casual or perilous contexts. Because the best jokes are the most ill-timed ones. right?

For TTS Lyall, Ben Platt is a fairly certain voice claim. Which led to this short scene idea wherein he pointedly sings Billy Joel's 'Vienna' at Varian (the lyrics fit, I think). He's definitely the sort to boldly serenade a friend in such a way, and the concept scratches my 'if my characters were in a musical' brain itch

i lowkey shipped these two, and that might have been because I originally built up Caspar's character so specifically to compliment her traits and sometimes challenge her approach to things. their military backgrounds were their biggest bonding point, and there were Cass-Cas-Sass-offs which I enjoyed more than I ought to have

TTS Hugo turned into a reindeer. felt much better, only I don't know how he'd have handled Corona's sunny climates. would he have been okay?? :( also lookit how baby Lyall's face is, I'm love him

8. Cosmic Love - Florence + the Machine

Really any ship that could become dark. Obviously the first to come to mind is Karina Lantsov and her relationship with Mal, Alina and Aleksander bc Aleksander would LOVE to drag all three into the darkness with him. But also some of my AUs for Eleanor Winters, especially the ones involving Lycan!Chris and alive Wesker (which totally does not turn into Eleanor x Chris x Wesker bc what am I if not predictable). For OCs themselves, likely Ashley Williams and Octavis Octavius. In TLoU P2, Ashley kinda goes off the rails at Joel's death (though I go back and forth between killing him and not). And Octavius, there's the whole anti-heroine Madame Octopus thing.

18. Meet Me in the Woods - Lord Huron

ELEANOR. In fact, I should double check if I've added this to her playlist yet. The lyrics just scream the aftermath of House of the Rising Sun/All Things End. Goes with Ethan to figure what wtf is going on with Mia, gets (unknowingly) killed and turned into a B.O.W, goes through hell, meets and eventually falls in love with Chris only to get betrayed bc of Mother Miranda bullshit... should probably change this to be her them song tbh.

28. Ain't No Grave - Crooked Still

This is on my Ashley Williams playlist and fits her perfectly, because nothing will keep her from her loved ones (Ellie and later Joel). She grew up doing all sorts of questionable things just for Ellie; she's even willing for a good chunk of the journey to throw Joel to infected or groups if it'll buy Ellie time to escape and live.

38. Setting Sun - Lord Huron

Funny, as much as I adore this song, it's hard to apply it to an OC or ship without diving into massive AU territory. The Darkling I can see being like this, but Karina is a Malarklina ship so kinda not at the same time since he considers all three his? Same thing could apply to an AU involving Eleanor x Chris x Wesker or Lyall x Diana or even Luke x Jana. Pretty much add unhinged possessive behavior in a dark au to an oc or ship and you get this song, haha.

Romantically, Eleanor x Chris. Platonically... a lot. Eleanor & Ethan, Ashley & Ellie & Joel, Nelda & Eragon and Nelda & Murtagh.

My Star Wars OCs. And DBH OCs. And havent introduced her yet but my Hunger Games OC, Ada Steelberg. Rebels and resistance in some way? Yeah, this song is for them.

68. Pompeii- Bastille

Eleanor Winters, Sidney and Donna Riley-Weathers, Maureen Prescott, Nelda (to a lesser extent when you factor in events from Murtagh). 'Does it almost feel like nothings changed at all?' And for all of them, in some way, that's true. Eleanor gets dragged back into facing off B.O.W.s in Romania; Sidney, Donna and Maureen all deal with Ghostface and being legacies of og Woodsboro survivors (and as the child of Sidney and Billy in Maureen's case). It's heavily hinted at in Murtagh that there's shaping up to be a new big bad that might have been behind Galbatorix and whatnot in Murtagh, so Nelda is going from one war to another, basically.

Even though it's on my Eleanor playlist, it could also fit Ashley, because of the lengths she's willing to go for the few people she cares about.

88. Gasoline - Halsey

Too many, tbh. Obviously it's added to my Eleanor Winters and Ashley Williams playlists but it also applies to my DBH OCs Fred and Christi bc of the lyrics 'I think there's a flaw in my code' bc you know, they become deviants and all.

98. In Dreams - Ben Howard

I have no idea. Mind immediately goes to Eleanor but also not quite because she does get a happy-ish ending with Chris even though she does lose Ethan. In a way it also kinda reminds me of Ashley. 'I may be troubled but I'm gracious in defeat'; she's okay with who she becomes and what she has to do for Ellie and later Joel. Idk this was honestly hard.

One way of organizing the outfits that take their cognomens from one or more members' names can be into the form of a musical project. A great example of this is The Alan Parsons Project whose moniker tells us enough, i.e. this should be seen as an endeavour lead by Mr. Parsons who looks for other people to join him, yet in the end he calls all the shots. Sure, things changed throughout the group's opus, but their debut, Tales Of Mystery And Imagination, followed this scheme. The disc's concept was Parsons' retelling of Edgar Allan Poe's stories and I am shocked not many progressive rockers decided to do something like this, because Poe's narratives fit the idiom quite well. Moreover, you can also hear the mastery of studio, which has been Parsons' strong suit.

The Longmuir brothers stayed with the band. Original singer Nobby Clark was replaced by Les McKeown in 1974, Billy Lyall and David Paton formed the musically respected chart hit band Pilot.

Happy 74th birthday Scottish musician David Paton

Paton was s member of Pilot, the band that had a smash hit in the 1970s with “Magic.”

Born 29th October 1949 in Edinburgh, he grew up in the south-eastern suburb of Gilmerton where he attended Inch Primary then Liberton High School where is art teacher was Roy Williamson of the Corries.

His first band was called The Beachcombers and they signed a recording contract in 1968 with CBS Records. The band were hugely popular in Scotland in the 60s, introduced the young Paton to the city’s live music circuit, venues like the Palais de Danse, Top Storey, The International on Princess Street, The Gonk Club and The Gamp

They changed their name for The Boots and released a couple of singles with little success, the band split because of money problems in 1970. He then replaced a guitarist in the Bay City Rollers, for a short period of time but never recorded with them. After leaving them in October 1970, he became a member of another band called Fresh, which changed their name for Chrystian and published a single, "Nursery Lane", in 1971.While still playing with the band, he took a job as a musician in Tiffanys, an Edinburgh nightclub where he met Ian Bairnson and they formed Pilot.

The band compromised, Paton with Ian Bairnson, Billy Lyall, and Stuart Tosh, Pilot literally made magic with their commercial single of the same title. “Magic,” (written by Paton and Lyall, produced by Alan Parsons) this skyrocketed the Scottish group to international star status. The band struck gold again with Paton’s “January.” More albums and singles followed. By 1977, only Paton and Bairnson were left from the original foursome, and they recorded Pilot's final album (the aptly titled Two's a Crowd) with session musicians, eventually Paton and Bairnson went there separate ways and Pilot folded.

After Pilot, Paton steadily built an impressive body of work, collaborating with The Alan Parsons Project, The Pretenders, Paul McCartney and Kate Bush, among others. In the last decade, Paton has toured the world in his own right and released his own music, including one album containing the first recording of January.

David Paton is still making music, his last album , The Traveler was released last year, I have however chosen to highlight Fragments, a collection of traditional Scottish songs and two of his own compositions, one of which I picked. Have a listen it's a cracking Scottish song, and check Youtbe for his versions of Scots' Wa Hae, Jock O'Hazeldean and The Bonnie Blue Bonnets among others.

“I think that’s the last of it” Sirius says, closing the front door, carrying a Target bag full of hangers. The entryway was already full of boxes and even more littered the bedroom next to Regulus.

“Thank you guys for letting me stay with you, it’s just until I can afford an apartment up here” Billie says leaning over the banister.

“It’s no rush Bumble B, Regulus is excited to make someone else living here. He apparently needs someone other than his brother and his boyfriend in the house.” Sirius assures as he places the bag among the rest of her stuff. “And I am excited to have my partner in crime back in the same time zone as me” Remus adds, swinging his arm around his sister.

“Billie are you sure you want to do this, there is still time to enroll into the spring semester. I talked to the admissions director at-“

“Mom, please! We’ve talked about this, it’s my life, I’m 18 now, it’s my decision.”

This had been the argument for months now. At the same time the mailbox started filling up with acceptance letters, some even coming with nice financial aid packages; Marlene had offered Billie the job. The lions were looking to reach a younger audience, so they needed a younger staff. They needed someone on the social media team who could navigate Tiktok, who understood the emoji keyboard as well as the regular one, and could use yeet in a sentence without sounding ridiculous . Honestly any gen z they could arm with an Ipad and a Lion Pride email account could do the job, but Marlene insisted that she saw something special in “Little Loopette”

Hope was fighting this battle alone. Lyall thought it was a great opportunity for some “real world experience,” and Julian just thought it was cool that both his siblings would be working for the Gryffindor Lions. So now they were sending their newly 18, only daughter up to the big city to live with her older brother, instead of to some nice instate public college, like Hope had envisioned.

“Are you guys sure you don’t want to stay in town for dinner?” Remus asks, trying to change the topic before two stubborn and headstrong Lupin women could start yet another heated debate.

“We really shouldn’t, it’s a long road back to Wisconsin and Jules has school on Monday.” Lyall responds clearly on board with his son’s idea .

Julian turns away from where he was definitely badgering Sirius for every detail of his life. “You will call, won’t you B”

“Every night if you want buddy” She said, wrapping her little brother in a bear hug.

“Well...maybe not every night” Julian says squirming out of his sister's grip, causing everyone to burst into a fit of laughter.

“I’m going to miss you” Billie says finally letting Julian go. “I’m going to miss all of you” She adds with a particularly soft look to her mother.

“We’ll miss you so much baby, but you are in good hands” Hope assures, placing a soft kiss on her daughter���s head. “You are 18 now but you are still my little girl. So if your brother, or anyone else for that matter gives you shit call me”
