Blackadder II / Rowan Atkinson as Edmund, Lord Blackadder

Even though this is "just" a very funny comedy show, costume designer Annie Hardinge really gave it her all. The costumes are better and more authentic-looking than some seen in serious costume dramas. Lord Blackadder dresses all in black with touches of silver and red, which not only fits his personality but was very fashionable at the time. The snake-and-dagger design on his sleeves is really beautiful and intricate, as is the ornamentation on the cape. And he's got a proper ruff!

Note: The picture with Baldrick is actually from Blackadder's Christmas Carol, but it seems to be either the same costume or an identical one.

And I really wish there were a Peter Lorre one because - hey, have you read my Blackadder II/Peter Lorre OC story yet? 😁😁

For real, to have Peter in various lego forms (young, old, in-between) so I could build him a house and theatre and supper club would be awesome.

I could try customizing on the minifigs.me site but if something were already out there that actually looked like Peter...

Sometimes, it's easy to forget that Hugh Laurie who's famous for his role as Dr. Gregory House in the show, "House" has had other roles as well.

He's not a newbie actor.

Far from it.

In fact, he's been acting since 1981.

He was also a member of the cast of "Blackadder", a comedy series from the United Kingdom that aired for ten years in the 1980s, the first episode airing on June 15, 1983 and the last episode airing on November 2, 1989.

HL first appeared in the last two episodes of "Blackadder II", first in "Beer" as Simon Partridge, AKA "Farters Parters" and "Mr. Ostrich", a drunk aristocrat and then "Chains" as the evil German Prince Ludwig the Indestructible.

To date, he's also the only actor in the whole Blackadder series to have played two completely different characters in one series.

He later joined "Blackadder the Third" as a member of the main cast, playing Prince George the Regent and even appeared in "Blackadder Goes Forth" as Lieutenant George.

In fact, HL has been in every single series of Blackadder except for The Black Adder which is the first series of Blackadder and Blackadder: The Cavalier Years.

Actual hot take:

Blackadder IV is carried by the end. Don't get me wrong, it's great, but *it's no Blackadder II". It has the highest heights, but not the consistent magnificence of II, or honestly even III. II>III/IV>I, IMO.
