The Gettysburg Address it wasn’t.

Seventy-seven years ago, on June 5, 1947, Secretary of State George C. Marshall, who had been a five-star general in World War II, gave a commencement speech at Harvard University.

“The truth of the matter is that Europe's requirements for the next three or four years of foreign food and other essential products—principally from America—are so much greater than her present ability to pay that she must have substantial additional help or face economic, social, and political deterioration of a very grave character,” he said. “It is logical that the United States should do whatever it is able to do to assist in the return of normal economic health in the world, without which there can be no political stability and no assured peace. Our policy is directed not against any country or doctrine but against hunger, poverty, desperation and chaos. Its purpose should be the revival of a working economy in the world so as to permit the emergence of political and social conditions in which free institutions can exist.”

In his short speech, Marshall outlined the principles of what came to be known as the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe in the wake of the devastation of World War II. The speech challenged European governments to work together to make a plan for recovery and suggested that the U.S. would provide the money. European countries did so, forming the Organization for European Economic Co-operation (OEEC) in 1948. From 1948 to 1952, the U.S. would donate about $17 billion to European countries to rebuild, promote economic cooperation, and modernize economies. By the end of the four-year program, economic output in each of the countries participating in the Marshall Plan had increased by at least 35%.

This investment helped to avoid another depression like the one that had hit the world in the 1930s, enabling Europe to afford goods from the U.S. and keeping low the tariff walls that had helped to choke trade in the crisis years of that decade. Marshall later recalled that his primary motivation was economic recovery, that he had been shocked by the devastation he saw in Europe and felt that “[i]f Europe was to be salvaged, economic aid was essential.”

But there was more to the Marshall Plan than money.

“Marshall was acutely aware that this was a plan to stabilize Western Europe politically because the administration was worried about the impact of communism, especially on labor unions,” historian Charles Maier told Colleen Walsh of the Harvard Gazette in 2017. “In effect, it was a plan designed to keep Western Europe safely in the liberal Western camp.” It worked. American investment in Europe helped to turn European nations away from communism as well as the nationalism that had fed World War II, creating a cooperative and stable Europe.

The Marshall Plan also helped Europe and the U.S. to articulate a powerful set of shared values. The U.S. invited not just Europe but also the Soviet Union to participate in the plan, but Soviet leaders refused, recognizing that accepting such aid would weaken the idea that communism was a superior form of government and give the U.S. influence. They blocked satellite countries from participating, as well. Forcing the USSR either to join Europe or to divide the allies of World War II put Soviet leaders in a difficult position and at a psychological disadvantage.

With a clear ideological line dividing the USSR and Europe, Europeans, Americans, and their allies coalesced around a concept of government based on equality before the law, secularism, civil rights, economic and political freedom, and a market economy: the tenets of liberal democracy. As Otto Zausmer, who had worked for the U.S. Office of War Information to swing Americans behind the war, put it in 1955: “America’s gift to the world is not money, but the Democratic idea, democracy.”

In the years after the Marshall Plan, European countries expanded their cooperative organizations. The OEEC became the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in 1961 and still operates with 37 member countries that account for three fifths of world trade. And the U.S. abandoned its prewar isolationism to engage with the rest of the world. The Marshall Plan helped to create a liberal international order, based on the rule of law, that lasted for decades.

In his commencement speech on June 5, 1947, Marshall apologized that “I’ve been forced by the necessities of the case to enter into rather technical discussions.” But on the ten-year anniversary of the speech, the Norwegian foreign minister had a longer perspective, saying: “[T]his initiative taken by Marshall and by the American Government marked the beginning of a new epoch in western Europe, an epoch of wider, and above all more binding, cooperation between the countries than ever before.”

Not bad for an eleven-minute speech.

lol the F-35 has cost over 2 trillion dollars and is only now reaching "full-rate production" 20 years in, and on top of that it requires software and hardware upgrades requiring another 2 trillion dollars.

Hardware and software delays—specifically those associated with Technology Refresh 3 (TR-3)—are another factor driving delays and hindering the program's progress in completing the Block 4 modernization. TR-3 is a $1.8-billion suite of hardware and software upgrades that are critical to the Block 4 modernization effort. TR-3 suppliers have faced setbacks including supply chain issues and software issues. The program and contractor are resolving these issues.

Latest F-35s Will Go Directly Into Storage Until Upgrade Woes Ironed Out

The Pentagon plans to stop deliveries of its latest F-35s until developmental glitches with its Technology Refresh 3 hardware are ironed out.

The Pentagon’s latest plan for the F-35 stealth fighter includes putting a stop on deliveries this summer while it holds out for production jets with the required Technology Refresh 3, or TR-3 hardware to support a range of future improvements.

The much-delayed TR-3 upgrade is critical to supporting the Block 4 modernization for the Joint Strike Fighter. However, it seems that past woes with concurrency — the combined development and production process in which F-35s are manufactured before all features have been completely tested or vetted — are driving this approach. It remains to be seen what kind of impact it could have on the timeline for the stealth jet, which is the Department of Defense’s most expensive weapon system ever.

Next month, the Pentagon plans to stop accepting some newly built F-35s as they come off the production line at Lockheed Martin’s Fort Worth facility in Texas, in a development first reported by Breaking Defense. The reason given is the immaturity of the TR-3 hardware. Instead of being delivered to their units, “dozens” of the jets will be stored, temporarily, at Fort Worth. It could take until spring 2024 before issues with TR-3 are ironed out and the jets can finally be handed over.

The first production jets with TR-3 began to take shape in February and these airframes are expected to be completed before the end of July.

The F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) confirmed to Defense News that the TR-3 delays mean that newly built fighters will be stored in the meantime.

“Starting later this summer, F-35 aircraft coming off the production line with TR-3 hardware will not be accepted until relevant combat capability is validated in accordance with our users’ expectations,” JPO spokesman Russ Goemaere said. “The JPO and Lockheed Martin will ensure these aircraft are safely and securely stored until [acceptance] occurs.”

While TR-3-equipped F-35s will go into temporary storage, those with the previous TR-2 hardware will continue to be delivered as normal.

Unclear at this point is how many F-35s will be affected.

Defense News reports that Lockheed says it’s too early to say how many F-35s might have to be stored, and the company didn’t comment on the original plan for TR-3 production numbers this year. In total, however, including TR-2 and TR-3 configurations, Lockheed was planning to deliver around 150 F-35s in 2023.

Lockheed on Monday said that it has so far delivered more than 45 F-35s this year, with about 50 more TR-2 F-35s now under construction.

As we have discussed in the past, TR-3 is intended to significantly enhance the F-35’s core processor, memory unit, and associated avionics. With these changes, the jet will be better able to support the multiple new capabilities planned under the upcoming Block 4 modernization program, which will include a brand-new radar. The first F-35 with TR-3 upgrades installed — a specially instrumented flight test aircraft — took to the air for its maiden flight on January 6 this year, at Edwards Air Force Base, California.

TR-3 was already delayed, having been planned to be delivered starting in April this year. Under current plans, the U.S. military will only start to receive new F-35s with TR-3 once all development testing is completed.

Once TR-3 is proven, then the F-35 will be ready to undergo Block 4 modernization. Among others, Block 4 will allow the jets to carry a larger variety of precision weapons, will greatly enhance its electronic warfare capability, and provide better target recognition.

In the best-case scenario, TR-3 could be declared ready in December of this year, although it could take until April 2024 — 12 months later than previously expected.

Last year, the Government Accountability Office reported that challenges in the development of TR-3 increased the cost of the overall Block 4 modernization effort by $330 million in 2021 and contributed to program delays. In its announcement of the first flight test sortie with TR-3 in January, the JPO said, “The TR-3 program has overcome technical complexity challenges with hardware and software and is now on track to deliver capability.”

Earlier this year, F-35 program executive officer Lt. Gen. Michael Schmidt told the House Armed Services subcommittee on tactical air and land forces that the development of TR-3’s hardware was lagging behind, with a knock-on effect on the production schedule. Although Lt. Gen. Schmidt said there had been improvements made, including to reliability, software integration remained a problem.

While a pause on F-35 deliveries may make sense in the long run, in terms of the Pentagon receiving jets that have “relevant combat capability,” it hardly comes as good news for a program that has already seen two production stops in the space of a year.

Last September, F-35 deliveries were placed on hold after officials learned that a component contained materials produced by China, something you can read more about here. The component, a magnet used in F-35 turbomachine pumps, “does not transmit information or harm the integrity of the aircraft and there are no performance, quality, safety, or security risks associated with this issue,” the JPO said in a statement at the time. After a security review, deliveries resumed in October.

Then, last December, deliveries came to a halt after pre-delivery acceptance flights were paused. This was in response to a December 15 accident at Fort Worth involving a pre-delivery F-35B, later found to be the result of an engine vibration problem. Deliveries resumed again after a fix was introduced.

Now, as it stands, it’s unclear how many F-35s will be affected by the latest pause in deliveries. In the best-case scenario, based on Lockheed’s estimation that TR-3 testing could be complete in December this year, that will leave a portion of the jets in storage for at least around five months.

In the more pessimistic scenario, based on the JPO’s expectation that TR-3 might not be ready until next April, then some of the stealth jets will be stored for around nine months.

Either way, it’s a a major setback based on the previous plans of having TR-3-equipped jets delivered to the customer in April 2023.

There could also be further setbacks head.

In March this year, senior U.S. military officials discussed the F135 engine’s limitations while outlining a plan to pursue an Engine Core Upgrade (ECU) effort before members of a subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee.

The U.S. military sees planned engine upgrades for all the variants of the F-35 as critical since the Pratt & Whitney F135 turbofans that power all of the aircraft have been “under spec since the beginning,” according to the JPO. This means the engines are routinely operated at higher-than-expected temperatures, leading to an increased maintenance and logistics burden, and reducing the F-35’s overall readiness rates.

The Engine Core Upgrade is of particular relevance for TR-3 and Block 4, as well. Both these efforts demand additional electrical power and have increased cooling needs, something that the ECU is intended to address via its power and thermal management system (PTMS) improvements.

In a report last month on the F-35’s cost growth and engine modernization, the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) stated that “The program assessed some engine and cooling improvement options, but it has not fully defined the requirements for how much future cooling the aircraft will need.” The report added that the Pentagon “hasn’t taken some important steps, such as fully assessing the costs and technical risks of the different [engine and cooling system] options.”

The GAO recommended that “Congress should consider directing the F-35 program to manage the engine modernization as a separate program. GAO added this matter for Congress because [the Department of Defense] has not committed to a separate engine program consistent with GAO’s recommendation.”

Most recently, it emerged that the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps may all end up choosing different cooling upgrades for their F-35s after a plan emerged under which they would draft their own requirements. That would inevitably drive up costs and likely increase the potential for further delays.

So, while the status of the Engine Core Upgrade is critical for the F-35 in general, delays with it could have a very significant impact on the already delayed TR-3 program, as well as the Block 4 modernization that, in turn, relies upon it.

Ultimately, ensuring the F-35 has an engine that fulfills performance parameters, especially when demands for electronic power and cooling are growing, could even end up being a bigger issue than the latest delivery pause, due to come into effect this summer.

In einem Beitrag bezeichnet Deutsche-Bank-Finanzanalyst Scott Deuschle Chinas schnelle Fortschritte als einen ernsten „Weckruf“ für die Luftwaffe der USA.

Für die Deutsche Bank geben die Bilder des neuen chinesischen Kampfjets Anlass zur Sorge, denn sie verdeutlichten die Untätigkeit der U.S. Air Force, deren Kampfjet-Flotte im Vergleich zur neuen chinesischen Variante regelrecht veraltet daherkommt. Die Kampfjets, über die das amerikanische Militär im Einsatz verfügt, sind die F-35 und die F-22 der fünften Generation von Lockheed Martin. Die F-16 – mit denen die USA auch die Ukraine ausgerüstet haben – gehören der vierten Generation von Kampfflugzeugen an.

Kampfjets der sechsten Generation werden in der Lage sein, mithilfe von Künstlicher Intelligenz in einem Verbund mit Drohnenschwärmen anzugreifen. Die Jets sollen ohne Piloten fliegen, im Weltraum zum Einsatz kommen und mit Hyperschallraketen bestückt werden können. Mit einer einsatzreifen Entwicklung wird allerdings erst ab 2030 gerechnet. Die Präsentation des neuen chinesischen Kampfjets könnte auch die Planspiele führender Militärstrategen infrage stellen. In der jüngeren Vergangenheit wurde angenommen, dass kostengünstige Drohnen im Zentrum der Verteidigungspolitik stehen würden. Amerikas Drohnenkrieg in Afghanistan und zuletzt der Ukrainekrieg haben diese Entwicklung verdeutlicht. Die Deutsche Bank geht davon aus, dass die chinesische „Enthüllung dieser Debatte ein Ende setzt“. Drohnen werden für die künftigen Kriegsziele der Großmächte nicht ausreichen. „Generell möchten wir auch anmerken, dass kostengünstige Drohnen im Allgemeinen nur deshalb kostengünstig sind, weil sie keine modernen Düsentriebwerke haben, und ein Flugzeug ohne moderne Düsentriebwerke ist ein Flugzeug, das in Bezug auf Flugreichweite oder Langstrecken-Sensorkapazität nicht viel bietet“, heißt es in der Deutsche-Bank-Analyse. „Und ein Flugzeug ohne diese Art von Fähigkeiten wird unserer Ansicht nach im Pazifik wahrscheinlich nicht sehr effektiv sein. Um es klar zu sagen: Wir sind davon überzeugt, dass kostengünstige Drohnen eine Rolle spielen können, aber unserer Ansicht nach wird es eher eine ergänzende Rolle sein und nicht eine, die den Status quo völlig ersetzt.“ Ebenso hat der Befehlshaber des amerikanischen Indopazifik-Kommandos, Samuel Paparo, kürzlich darauf hingewiesen, dass Drohnen für die Luftüberlegenheit in der Region ungeeignet seien. „Der Pazifik ist ein umkämpfter Raum, der sich über etwa 8000 mal 8000 Meilen Ozean erstreckt, und eine Drohne im Taschenformat, die eine Stunde lang in der Luft bleiben kann, reicht da nicht aus“, sagte Paparo Mitte November auf einer Veranstaltung der Brookings Institution. Denn „einer der Gründe für erhöhte Verteidigungsausgaben während des Kalten Krieges war die Vorstellung, dass zwischen den USA und der Sowjetunion eine ‚Bomberlücke‘ und später eine ‚Raketenlücke‘ bestand“, heißt es in der Deutsche-Bank-Analyse. „Diese wahrgenommenen Fähigkeitsdefizite wurden damals als Rechtfertigung für erhöhte Verteidigungsausgaben herangezogen. Wir glauben, dass diese Enthüllung im Kongress zu größerer Besorgnis führen könnte, dass das US-Militär zurückfällt, was wiederum zu einer verstärkten Unterstützung des Kongresses für erhöhte Verteidigungsausgaben führen könnte.“ Die Deutsche Bank hat die Aktie von Lockheed Martin auf ein Kursziel von 523 US-Dollar statt 611 US-Dollar herabgestuft. „Chinas Bemühungen zur Modernisierung von Kampfflugzeugen“ sind der Grund für die Entscheidung.

The ‘dreaded swimsuit season’ is coming up, and that means people are going to be obsessing about food and exercise and losing calories. First of all, I’m not a medical professional nor a nutritionist nor a physical therapist etc, so definitely consult with the appropriate personnel...but I cannot stress strongly enough, you must consult with non-fatphobic medical personnel.

Fatphobia kills people of all bodyweights, and this blog does not support fatphobia, especially medical fatphobia.

Now, with that said...if you want to be healthy, there are plenty of non-fatphobic things you can do about it. And the biggest things you need to know about how to go about it are: understanding your metabolism, understanding how muscles can affect your metabolism, and understanding how diet (foods, not fatphobia industry) can affect your metabolism.

Given all the fat-shaming bullshit thrown about in the so-called “Health Industry,” it sounds counterintuitive, but you actually need to eat more in order to lose weight. You need to teach your body that it’s not in starvation mode anymore, that it has plenty of calories and nutrients...and just start moving more. Not necessarily exercising more, but moving more.

2,000-2,500 calories a day is the range for a “normal” body-weight-and-size person. However, the more exercise you do, the more muscles you have, or simply the bigger a person you are (the more cells you have), the more calories you need. Unless you’re seriously short & skinny, a 1,500 calorie meal is a starvation meal, and that will put your body into “OMFG SAVE ALL THE CALORIES AS FAT!!” mode.

Literally, a toddler’s caloric needs are 1,100, and they range from 20-35 pounds. You’re several times that much. This doesn’t mean that if you weigh 175 pounds that you need to eat at least 5 times as many calories, however! In truth, you only need about double that, because a toddler’s metabolism is geared toward growing, whereas an adult’s metabolism is geared toward maintaining.

The best way to understand this is to realize your metabolism can be divided into 4 categories.

Your Resting Metabolic Rate is simply the amount of calories needed to keep you breathing, your blood pumping, your organs functioning. That’s 60%-75% of your caloric intake. You have your Thermic Effect of Food, which is another 10%, literally the energy it takes to chew and swallow and digest food & drinks, and then to excrete the leftover bathroom waste. The remaining two types of calorie burning are Non-Exercise Activity Thermogensis, and Activity Thermogenesis. Of those lattermost two, your body actually burns more of the Non-Exercise calories than the Active Exercise calories...and it is designed to burn more when simply moving.

Literally, just moving a bit more than you usually do in a typical day will burn calories effectively. Move around the house on every commercial break, stand up and sit down more often, change your position more frequently, raise and lower your arms, gently swing or kick your legs...just move more. When they say 30 minutes of (gentle) exercise a day, this is exactly what they are talking about. You don’t need weights, you don’t need machinery, you don’t need a gym membership. Just move. It’ll be a gradual process, but so long as you’re eating foods with plenty of fiber as well as other food types, you’ll feel full and won’t feel starved.

Now, if you want to burn calories even faster through vigorous exercise, you can do that, too...but again you need to use your metabolism. Make sure you’re not starving, because your body will go into a panic attack thinking you’re not only starving but are being chased by bears and will need plenty of fat to survive while you’re unable to gather food, etc because zomg you’re being chased by bears!!1! (Truly, the metabolism is a primitive/primal minded thing based upon hundreds of thousands of years of hunter-gatherer lifestyles, and does not comprehend modern life at all.)

And then, what do you do to burn more calories? You build muscles. Muscles burn a lot of calories. Not just through using said muscles in excercise, but muscles will burn through calories even while simply resting. The more muscles you have, the more calories your body will burn.

How do you build muscles? Well, there are two types of muscles, which while it sounds cannibalistic, we’ll call white meat and dark meat, because it’s the easiest mnemonic to remember. White meat (think breast meat on a chicken) is designed for strong but brief actions...and men have more white meat muscles than females, though obviously they have both kinds. That brief sprint towards a prey animal, the thrust of a spear into its body, aaaand done.

Dark meat muscles are meant for lower-strength repetitive actions. Walking around reaching up or stooping down or digging while gathering plants, with no need to rush and plenty of opportunities to rest. Chasing after young children. Weaving baskets, scraping and tanning hides into furs and leathers, cooking...these are tasks that require little to moderate amounts of strength, but most important, repeated movements. Women tend to have more dark meat muscles than men, though obviously they have both kinds.

(The reasons why wild ducks, partridges, grouse, etc, all have dark meat breast muscles is because they use those muscles to fly long distances. Chickens evolved from jungle-floor hunt-and-peck birds that mostly flew only short distances to get away from predators by flying up to the nearest tree branches, so they literally just needed a burst of strong energy over a short period of time, hence white meat muscles.)

Which type is better? Both, ideally, because they are useful in a variety of different ways. Which is better for burning calories? Ideally both, but it doesn’t really matter. All you need to do is build muscles.

As for how to do that...you know how you feel when you exercise until you are sore? That’s what you need to do. This is where weights and machines and treadmills do come in handy, but still aren’t necessary, since you can lift and lower objects around your home, and get exercise bands or surgical tubing for resistance training, and go for longer walks, etc.

The object is to (gently!) push your body to the point where your muscles are sore. You can do this by lifting weights for a few repetitions near your limit (use a spotter & practice safe lifting skills!!), which is a white meat muscle activity, or you can use lesser weights or resistance machinery (surgical tubing counts), but just do it more, which is dark meat muscle activity.

You can also do the “step down” method of weight training or resistance training, by starting near your limit, going until your muscles burn, then resting a few minutes while gently shaking out, massaging, or relaxing the muscles in question to help move the lactic acid out of your muscle tissues, along with hydrating. Then you “step down” the amount of weight (say by 20%-30%) and doing another set of reps (repetition movements) until again it’s a struggle, then another few minutes of rest, hydration, etc, before stepping down again, doing some reps...and then again when it’s at the lightest you can for as long as you can, then rest that muscle group.

Regardless of which way you weight/resistance train, take a full 48 hours off. Or as close to 48 as you manage--weight train 3 times a week, and then take up to 72 hours (three days) off so your body can fully recover. You can still exercise, but do not use weights or resistance machinery/rubber bands, etc.

Let your muscles use that 48 hours to heal, and eat more protein sources to help your body build more muscle strength, along with a variety of nutrients to get the right kinds of micronutrients. Again, I must emphasize: Do not starve your body. It will go into fat-storage mode and will only barely repair your muscles, nevermind build them bigger.

The goal is to build more muscle tissue. if you are hungrier than usual, eat more. Your body will tell you what it needs if you listen, and there are plenty of charts out there with “if you are craving X,Y, or Z, then try eating healthier foods A,B,C, D, E, or F!” and they’re actually not inaccurate...but it is okay to have the “less healthy” foods in moderation, same as in everything you eat.

But seriously, up your protein intake, which is what your body needs to build bigger muscles. The average (again, your needs may be more) person needs about 4 ounces (115 grams) of protein per meal, so you can shoot for more than that. And get your proteins from a variety of sources. Humans can manufacture a good number of amino acids (the building blocks of proteins), but we cannot synthesize 9 of them, the “9 essential amino acids.”

These 9 essential amino acids are: histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine. Foods that contain all nine essential acids are called complete proteins. These include eggs, fish, beef, pork, poultry, and whole sources of soy (tofu, edamame, tempeh, and miso).

While plant proteins have lower essential amino acid contents when compared to animal proteins, they will also have different ratios of the various amio acids compared to most animal-based proteins. This is something that vegetarians and vegans need to keep in mind.

Some plant-based foods can be combined together to complement and/or supplement. “Rice & beans” is one such combination. Basically, you combine a grain (in this case rice) with a pulse (legumes, like beans, or peas, etc). Here in America, in Mexican restaurants, a serving of refried beans and Spanish rice (seasoned with tomatoes & spices) is often automatically included as a side for most dishes. This provides a great deal of carbohydrates, but it also provides a more or less “complete protein” set of those essential amino acids.

Corn, beans, and squash plants do the same thing, providing a complete protein when combined together, as well as plenty of carbs. These three plant types are the “Three Sisters” of indigenous North Americans. They are best when planted together, the corn providing a trellis for the beans to grow upon, the squashes spreading out across the field to smother competing weeds, and together they feed people reasonably well.

However, they are still more carb-heavy than protein-heavy, which means vegetarians need to rely upon other sources such as nuts, plus eggs, dairy, and/or fish (if pisco-lacto-ovarian vegetarians). Vegans in particular need to be extra careful. Yes, peanuts have a lot of proteins compared to their carbs, same with almonds, etc, so definitely add nuts to your diets! But just be aware that you’re going to need to be a lot more conscious of your protein types & sources--and make sure to get a variety of sources--if you’re trying to build muscles while on a vegetarian or especially on a vegan diet. A purely plant-based diet will not have nearly as balanced a set of amino acids as what animal-inclusive diets can contain.

If you’re lacto-ovarian, this is made easier because milk, cheese, and eggs are wonderful foods with a lot of nutritional value. If you eat fish as well, even better, full proteins in fish as well as in egg whites, etc...but that brings me to another caveat, because you should probably eat the egg yolks as well as the egg whites.

Do not skip out on fats. Unless you have a genuine doctor-ordered medical reason, do not cut all fats out of your diet. Your brain needs fats in order to function. And just as with amino acids in various protein sources, there are different types of fats as well that our bodies need in different amounts for different reasons. This isn’t to say you should chow down on the equivalent of a full stick of butter (1/2 cup, 65 grams) with each meal (unless you’re camping outdoors in winter in the far north or a mountain, because then you need fat in your diet for your body to literally burn to help keep you warm).

It’s just that you don’t want to go completely fat free...because if you do, your metabolism will go into panic mode in its primitive/primal-minded way, “ZOMG IT’S LATE WINTER/EARLY SPRING AND NOTHING HAS ANY FATS IN IT WE’RE ALL GONNA STAAAAAARRRVEEE!!” Your metabolism will start turning carbs and even proteins into fats in an effort to ensure your brain (along with other vital organs) will have enough fats to keep functioning. So go ahead and put some butter on your toast. Even better, put some nutbutter on your toast, since sunflower butter, peanut butter, almond butter, all those things have proteins and fats as well as carbs.

Also, your body actually does need cholesterol to function, but only in smaller amounts than you’d think. HOWEVER, if it doesn’t get enough of the right types of cholesterol through diet, your body will make its own cholesterol, and will make more than you need, out of carbohydrates. (Yeah, this one was a shocker to me when I learned about it, and the answer blew my mind. Seriously, our body will make up to 10x as much cholesterol as we need if we don’t eat it, so it’s best if we do eat it.)

So how much does an average person need to consume of these critical cholesterols that it absolutely needs? ...About 1-2 egg yolks a day (or comparable alternative sources; vegans, do some research on alternatives, or just accept that your body may try to overproduce certain cholesterols if it’s feeling nutrition-starved). Seriously. Just that much is enough. (Again, your needs may vary based on your body size, metabolic rate, and/or environment.)

So. Put it all together, and you have: 1. Eat a variety of foods in sufficient quantities and qualities (fats and proteins included) to ensure your body stays healthy; 2. exercise just enough to push your muscles into feeling sore; 3. Rest 48 hours while eating a bit more protein to help your body repair and build bigger muscles; 4. Lather-rinse-repeat... and you’ll eventually get bigger muscles that burn more calories simply by existing, as well as whenever you use them to move just a bit more than you normally would.

Dark meat muscles burn more calories when at rest because they’re designed that way, because they’re small effort but frequent use with multiple short rests, lots of blood flowing through them, and thus are more metabolically “charged” than white meat muscles. However, white meat muscles tend to be the largest muscles, and thus while not designed to burn calories as efficiently while at rest compared to dark meat muscles...they actually end up burning about the same through sheer volume.

Work on improving your muscles, move a bit more every day, eat more conscientously but not through the heavily warped fearmongering lens of the Diet Industry’s blather and/or tactics, and you will be healthy enough to go to the beach and enjoy it. Not because you’ll have lost weight, but because you will be healthier. (Fun fact: muscles are denser and heavier than fat, so you could literally lose inches while gaining pounds from your body burning the fat with its now increased muscle mass.)

And yes, you can weigh 260 pounds and still be healthier than someone who weighs 160.

In other words, if you have a body, and you go to the beach with it, you now have a beach body.

You’ll just be less likely to get out of breath while swimming or building sand castles or playing volleyball or whatever if you’ve upped your exercise levels between now and then.

Also: CONTINUE TO WEAR A MASK IN PUBLIC.

Get one that matches your swimwear, or makes you feel silly & fun. Even if everyone started wearing their masks (not going to happen, but one can dream), it will to take us all of 2021 to quell the pandemic...and because people won’t be wearing their masks, keep wearing that mask. Yes, even if you have had all your shots. Because people aren’t wearing masks, the virus is able to spread, and when it spreads, there’s always a chance it will mutate, and cause new strains of infections...which it already has. So wear your damn mask.

America, The E.U. & The Tribulations to Come

In August 2017, a solar eclipse passed over America. The eclipse went from coast to coast, West to East. It was the first total solar eclipse seen only in the U.S. since the nation’s founding in 1776. In 2024, another solar eclipse will cross America from coast to coast, this time East to West. The path of the eclipse’s final image is a giant X over the United States.

The annual Bastille Day celebration in Paris, France, this year was prophetic. Not very talked about either. The ten Kings of the EU military cooperation were present, along with their own militaries. This wasn’t about celebrating France; it was about showcasing a joint military pact created last year by France and Germany.

When Jerusalem is surrounded in the final days leading to Armageddon, it seems only God can help the Jewish people. Towards the end, just prior to His coming, could the U.S. be crippled, leaving the Jews to call on God? Jesus said that the Jews would not see His face again until they learned to cry out to Him.

“For I say unto you, you shall not see me again, till you shall say, Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.”

The Jewish people have shed many tears over the last 2,000 years. They’ve been ridiculed, mocked and slaughtered by the millions. Yet, they still have not cried out to the Lord, the only one who can save them.

When Jesus was here, he was despised, ridiculed, mocked and ultimately slaughtered by the very people He came to save. Their scorn for Him was returned to them.

As He was being led away like a lamb to the slaughter, there were a few mourners who were crying for Him. He turned to them and said “Do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children” (Luke 23:28).

The children of that generation of Jews saw the destruction of their temple, slaughter of their friends and family, captivity, and for 2,000 years they roamed without a home of their own. They were despised, mocked and ultimately slaughtered by the millions under the Nazi regime of Adolph Hitler.

Currently, there is not a UN permanent member nation that can veto and make decisions for the ONE BILLION Muslims on earth.

With Brexit, the UK’s departure from the EU will leave a massive hole, financially and militarily, as the EU is the UK’s largest trading partner. Turkey is ready and waiting to step in; this is what they’ve been waiting on for decades. They have a legitimate cause, too. Europe has millions of Muslims living in numerous countries. They have no voice. Recep Tayip Erdogan wants to be that voice.

Erdogan is already a hero in Gaza and the West Bank to the Palestinian people. He is celebrated and prayed for by them. There are Turkish flags over the entrances to the Temple Mount. During Friday prayer it is not unusual to see Turkish flags and signs bearing Erdogan’s picture.

After Brexit, the EU will forge new trade deals, possibly with nations the U.S. is sanctioning. They will become extremely powerful militarily, with a two hundred-million-man army. Even the U.S., which is the greatest nation in the history of the world, can’t withstand that. Israel certainly can’t withstand that, which makes the people finally cry out, and The Lord hears them!

The ten nations in the EU have been chosen. Emmanuel Macron called for ten nations to stand up and defend the EU militarily. The ten nations that came forward are: France and Germany of course, Finland, Belgium, Britain, Denmark, Estonia, the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal.

Revelation 17:12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.”

BUT Brexit is about to finally happen, so why would Britain remain in the EU’s military alliance? They won’t.

“After this I looked, and there was another, like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a bird. The beast also had four heads, and dominion was given to it.”

The leopard with feathers represents the Franco-German alliance. The four heads represent Germany’s attempts at world domination or four Reich’s (German for Empire). We witnessed the first attempt under the Holy Roman Empire, the second under Otto Van Bismarck, and the third head was under Adolph Hitler. The fourth head will be under the control of the Antichrist.

The European Union is controlled by Germany and France. The history between the two nations dates back to Charlemagne the great, the first Holy Roman Emperor. Everything we see happening today ties in, bringing us to the final moments before Christ’s return.

Germany will return to her Assyrian roots and become the killing machine they have been throughout history. Germany has started the last two world wars and will undoubtedly help start the third.

“The ten horns are ten kings who shall arise from this kingdom. And another shall rise after them; He shall be different from the first ones, And shall subdue three kings.”

With Britain leaving, this gives Turkey the opportunity they have been waiting for. It would also give Erdogan an incredible amount of power. It’s been two decades since the EU named Turkey as a candidate for membership, and Erdogan is determined to make it happen. In the past, Erdogan has claimed that the EU needs Turkey more than Turkey needs the EU. With Brexit on the horizon, he may be right.

Turkey is already a much-needed ally on key issues such as immigration into Europe, security, and even the economy. The only thing that has really prevented them from joining were the differences on sharia laws and what it means to be a “Democratic nation.”

With many European nations becoming socialist, is there really that much of a difference now? What difference does it make if the thought police are in Turkey controlling what you say about Islam, or if they are in Germany and France controlling what you say about Islam?

The U.S. and Turkey have had a strained relationship over the last two years; this is in part due to President Trump blocking the F-35 deal. NATO has become almost obsolete, and when it falls apart, Turkey will be looking for a new club to join.

“He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, And shall intend to change times and law.”

No other group of people, both religiously and politically, speaks pompous and disgusting words towards Jesus Christ more than Muslims. In fact, blasphemy against Him is engraved on their mosques. It is sung out in their call to prayer. It’s written on arm bands, flags and headbands.

The Islamic call to prayer is heard in tens of thousands of mosques across the world everyday, and each time it’s heard over those loudspeakers, blasphemy is committed.

“Allah is the Greatest! (4 times)

I bear witness that there is no other god but Allah. (2 times)

I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. (2 times)

Rush to prayer. (2 times)

Rush to success. (2 times)

Allah is the Greatest! (2 times)

There is no god but Allah.”

Sharia law demands that an unbeliever be enslaved or killed. Muslims have perfected the art of beheading.

“And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands.”

The beast is a socialist, globalist system that has engulfed Europe over the last several decades. President Trump withdrew us from this system, which angered many across the world. This explains the birth of the United States being described by Daniel, but her notable absence in Revelation. The U.S. is not a part of the Antichrist beast.

“And suddenly another beast, a second, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. And they said thus to it: ‘Arise, devour much flesh!’”

The bear represents Russia. Through communism, millions have been murdered. The three ribs seem to represent three smaller nations that Russia will conquer in the last days before Christ’s return. The Ukraine is certainly one possible nation or rib.

Daniel 7:17 “These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which SHALL arise out of the earth.”

Daniel’s vision must be describing modern nations because he specifically said that the lion, bear, and leopard “shall arise.” Daniel explained Nebuchadnezzar’s dreams while living in Babylon. The first beast mentioned cannot be ancient Babylon for one simple reason. It had already risen. Daniel was in Babylon at the height of its rule. He also described Nebuchadnezzar’s Babylonian kingdom as being the head of gold.

Daniel 2:39-40 “He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all—you are this head of gold. But after you shall arise another kingdom inferior to yours; then another, a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over all the earth. And the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron, inasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and shatters everything; and like iron that crushes, that kingdom will break in pieces and crush all the others.”

Later, in Daniel 7, he interprets another dream from Nebuchadnezzar. This time he is speaking of future nations.

“The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings. I watched till its wings were plucked off; and it was lifted up from the earth and made to stand on two feet like a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.”

The United States, or the Eagle, won her independence from Britain in 1776. Uncle Sam stood up with a man’s heart.

The same nations in Daniel 7 are again mentioned in Revelation 13. This time, the nations described in Daniel 7 are now ONE beast or super nation under the Antichrist.

Remember what Jesus said. THIS IS A SPIRITUAL WORLD. There are spirits leading these nations and people. Dark sprits that rule this world. This is why they are in direct opposition of anything good, or decent and moral. We are all being spiritually led. As Christians, we are led by the Holy Spirit.

“Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay.”

If Turkey joined the EU, they will in fact be divided from the rest of Europe. Muslims are not suddenly going to adhere to European law or pledge their loyalty to a single nation. But a super nation with tens of millions of Muslims as citizens? That’s something else altogether. This fourth kingdom, led by France and Germany, will be as strong as iron, but its weakness will be the millions of Muslims wanting separate, sharia-compliant laws.

The division also includes Great Britain. The differences are political, economic and cultural. These differences are found not just between Muslims and Europeans, but between Europeans themselves. This is where the clay or weakness and division comes in. These nations are aligned and powerful but still separate, which gives it weakness.

Boris Johnson has a “zero cares given” attitude on BREXIT. He requested approval from Queen Elizabeth to suspend Parliament, and her stamp of approval was given. This shutdown inside Parliament is an unprecedented move to ensure no derailment of the October 31 deadline he gave. It’s the first time Parliament has shut down in 400 years.

When the armies of the world begin to surround Jerusalem, the Bible says that Britain, the United States and Saudi Arabia question their motives. Have they come to rob Israel of her wealth and possessions?

Ezekiel 38:13 “Sheba, Dedan, the merchants of Tarshish, and all their young lions will say to you, ‘Have you come to take plunder? Have you gathered your army to take booty, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to take great plunder?’”

Without Brexit, Britain and America couldn’t possibly be allied in the future because Britain would still be aligned with the E.U.

Brexit hasn’t been carried out yet because the globalists in power do not want to leave the E.U. The British people voted to leave the European Union; yet, their ELECTED officials have ignored them. Theresa May did everything in her power to make a mess of leaving, and it appeared Brexit may not ever happen. Until Boris Johnson became Prime Minister – Britain’s Donald Trump, of sorts. Although there is only one President Donald J. Trump.

“Then the saints shall be given into his hand, For a time and times and half a time.”

Will President Trump’s second term in office be during the first part of the seven-year peace deal? The final three and a half years is going to be a time of great tribulation. Is it possible that the United States has been removed as a superpower in order to usher that terrible time in?

“I was watching; and the same horn was making war against the saints, and prevailing against them, until the Ancient of Days came.”

In 2024, when the eclipse crosses the U.S. again, the epicenter of the eclipse crosses over the same exact spot as it did in 2017. The Kentucky/Tennessee border region. What’s interesting is there’s a dangerous fault line right where the giant X crosses over. This fault line caused the greatest earthquake in our history. The New Madrid fault line has the potential to completely disrupt and cripple the U.S.

In November 2008, FEMA warned that a serious earthquake in the New Madrid Seismic Zone could have severe economic damages due to severe infrastructure damage across multiple states. A strong enough quake will affect water, food and medicine from reaching those who need it for possibly weeks, if not months.

Catastrophic damage would be felt in Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ohio, Texas, and Tennessee.

A 7.0 magnitude quake along the fault line would put this country at a standstill. It would result in thousands of casualties, with many more in the days that follow, due to the large populations and lack of emergency supplies.

FEMA also said Memphis, Tennessee, would have upwards of 4,000 casualties alone. Unlike cities on the West coast, buildings and infrastructure in middle America aren’t made to withstand strong earthquakes. Not only that, but with millions of people affected, our financial markets would crash.

The last time this fault line caused a major earthquake was December 16, 1811, when an estimated 8.0 quake struck Arkansas with a large 7.4 aftershock a few hours later. A third 7.8 earthquake was felt on January 23, 1812. Then a 4th in the series of quakes hit just a few weeks later on February 7th. This was estimated at an 8.8.

After the fourth and largest quake, the land was no longer recognizable by survivors. Brand new lakes and ridges were formed, and the Mississippi River flowed backwards for hours. Church bells in Philadelphia rang out, and the ground cracked in Washington, DC.

In 1811-12, middle America was not as populated as it is now, which lessened the death toll.

In 2016, James Wilkinson, director of the Central US Earthquake Consortium (CUSEC), said, “The thing that, to me, makes the river scary is how much industry we have along it: there’s power plants, there’s chemical plants, there’s ports. And the river might change course altogether… We’ve had earthquakes, we’ve had damage, but nothing like what we’ve seen in other parts of the world… So the clock’s ticking.”

These Midwest earthquakes are the longest lasting with the most damage in world history, and the strongest in American history. Something else remarkable happened in March of 1811 and ended in December of that year too. A bright comet had appeared in the skies. It was visible for 260 days in the United States and Europe, and was nicknamed the “Napoleon Comet.” It preceded the war of 1812, which once again saw the U.S. at war with Britain in a desperate fight to defend her sovereignty. This has been called America’s second war for independence.

These two American Eclipses intersect in middle America, and right over the New Madrid Fault line.

What will become of Jerusalem in the upcoming peace deal? The end result is tens of thousands of Palestinians overrunning her and slaughtering the Jewish people, and the U.S. will be powerless to stop it. The Psalm 83 war describes all of the surrounding peoples and nations that attack the Temple and the Jewish people. They are modern-day Palestinians. I believe it will be this war where Jerusalem comes under the control of the Antichrist.

With the U.S. reeling from a massive earthquake, the EU would become the most powerful union of nations in the world. Politically and economically. Perhaps they will offer to help the U.S., for a price. How many in today’s generation could survive if they had to fend for themselves? Not many. They would gladly offer anything, even betraying their nation for a hot shower and food.

I believe the U.S. will be around to protect Israel for the next few years, but I also believe something must happen to America in order for the Israelis to feel all that can help them is God.

These prophecies were written 2,500 years ago, and we see them being fulfilled before our eyes.

The lawlessness we see around us now is nothing compared to what will occur when a catastrophic event that affects the entire country happens.

This earthquake would split the United States right down the middle. We are already divided spiritually and politically; could you imagine having to defend your home in a time of lawlessness? If you’re not prepared, then it’s time to get prepared. I’d rather be safe than sorry. I’m not saying this earthquake is going to happen, but it’s awful coincidental in this last generation not to take notice of signs that appear in the sun, moon and stars. He warned us of earthquakes and also hurricanes.

Luke 21:25 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring.”

Matthew 24:7 “And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.”

Things are move quickly; His return is near. He is not coming back smiling; He’s coming back full of wrath. All of these things we are seeing right now are only the beginning!

Jesus does not rule Jerusalem yet; He doesn’t even rule this world. This is Satan’s domain. Why do you think God instructs us not to be part of the world? Because our enemy runs it! Look around you; is this from God? Is drag queen story hour from God? Are abortions from God? Is the socialist, globalist beast from God? No!

The third temple is closer than ever to being built. It will be this generation that builds it, and President Trump could make it happen, inadvertently bringing the Antichrist front and center.

Zechariah 6:15 “Even those from afar shall come and build the temple of the Lord. Then you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. And this shall come to pass if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God.”

Jewish Rabbis are eagerly awaiting the time when they can prepare the red heifer for sacrifice. This red heifer is needed in order to build the third temple because the ashes from the heifer are what cleansed Israel from her sins in ancient times. Jesus was without blemish, as no fault was found in Him; His blood is what cleanses us from our sin. The heifer had to be sacrificed outside of the camp just as Jesus was sacrificed outside of Jerusalem.

The Jewish people haven’t learned to cry out for the Lord yet, and they will not see Him until they do. Unfortunately, it’s going to take another Holocaust more brutal than the first for them to do so. BUT He is faithful, and hears them. The red heifer can’t forgive them of their sins; only Jesus Christ can. His blood has already been shed, no heifers needed.

“Yet even now,’ declares the Lord, ‘return to Me with all your heart, and with fasting, weeping and mourning; and rend your heart and not your garments.’ Now return to the Lord your God for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness and relenting of evil” (Joel 2:12-13).

F-35A fighter officially certified to launch the B61-12 nuclear bomb

The F-35A Lightning II poacher has been officially certified to carry and launch the B61-12 gravitational thermonuclear bomb.

The certification was achieved on October 12, 2023, surpassing the original date of January 2024. This certification applies exclusively to the F-35A model and does not cover the F-35B and F-35C variants, which are designed for short takeoff and vertical landing and aircraft carrier launch, respectively.

According to a report on the Breaking Defense website, a spokesman for the F-35 Joint Program Office confirmed the milestone, highlighting a significant advance in the aircraft's capabilities. However, the details regarding the deployment of F-35A jets in Europe remain undisclosed, since the U.S. Air Force has not yet answered the questions on the subject.

The B61-12 represents the latest update of the B61 series of nuclear bombs, which was first put into service in 1968. The first updated pump production unit was completed in November 2021. This version is intended to replace three older variants of B61 ammunition, specifically the B61-3, B61-4 and B61-7 models, as part of the modernization efforts.

A USAF spokesman additionally told the Breaking Defense website that “the B61-12 is compatible with any DCA [dual-capacity aircraft] certified F-35” and that the set of fighters upgrades collectively known as Block 4 is not a requirement to use the weapon.

The F-15E was previously the first American fighter compatible with the B61-12. Three other groups of fighters - F-16A/Bs, F-16C/Ds and the PA-200 Tornado used by some NATO countries - are also allowed to carry nuclear weapons.

The U.S. Air Force also operates the B-2, a long-range stealth bomber with nuclear capability that began operational use of the B61-12 in December 2023. It is also advancing rapidly with the production of its successor, the B-21 Raider, which first flew last November. In addition, the service previously operated F-117 Nighthawk jets capable of launching B61 nuclear weapons. But the F-117 was never really a fighter, despite the 'F' in its designation, because it could only drop bombs and had no air-to-air capacity.

In addition, although the U.S. Air Force has long operated conventional F-15E and F-16 fighters with the necessary "N wiring" to employ nuclear weapons, the F-35A is the first poacher equipped as such.

Unlike the F-22 Raptor, the oldest U.S. Air Force, oriented to air-to-air combat, the F-35A always intended to assume the tactical nuclear attack capability of the F-16 fighters it was supposed to replace. However, the implementation of this capability - with the wiring and data links needed to use the advanced features of the new B61-12 nuclear gravity bomb - has been associated with an extensive (and highly expensive) upgrade program known as Block 4.

The certification award means that the development and testing of the capacity of the B61-12 are finally completed and considered satisfactory after "more than 10 years of intense effort", according to Goemaere.

Dual-capacity aircraft serve as another deterrent, along with the traditional nuclear triad of bombers, submarines and ICBMs launched on the ground, and are seen by European nations as a key part of preventing Russian aggression. The nuclear capacity of the Joint Strike Fighter arises at a critical moment for NATO, in the middle of the war in Ukraine and the Russian nuclear saber, in particular.
