#Blocking bots mostly

Ok thats it anon is off. I am getting up to 10 messages some days with the exact same copy pasted text begging for money and I am SICK of it.

This is what I mean by excessive bot follows btw I think I’ve gone up by like. Minimum 800 (probably more to 1k) bc of these accounts and I haaaate it, there’s just no way to keep on top of it with tumblrs report tools rn 💀

If anyone else is having this much of an influx please lmk!!!! The occasional bot follow is normal for here it’s just This amount is insane

Dear new followers,

Change your avatar, put anything in your title! Did you know that when lurking here, you can just hit the reblog (two arrows) button to keep a copy of the post/art on your blog and turn your blog in a scrapbook of stuff you liked? It works a lot better than just liking a post and makes people who post stuff happy! (you can also search your blog to see those posts again later that way!)

And if you made a side blog to be active on instead, know that your main blog is the visible one in follow and like notifications, so make sure to check that too!

i keep getting these really annoying bots (particularly on art posts but not always) where they just comment a link to a youtube video. every time it'll be the most random ai slop youve ever seen on a channel clearly too small for any kind of monetisation. they're never anything harmful beyond being ai generated and they clearly arent made by someone who was trying to say something either. just bots for the sake of bots.

for all i know this could be something more sinister, although the only theory i really have is that they're scraping posts + art for training ai models

2 blogs that i think are these bots:

these two have the same pfp and link to the same video, but ive had other blogs with different pfps and different links (cant find them rn). some have no posts at all. some have a few posts. some have loads. most are reblogs, but sometimes they post their youtube links. i have no idea what's going on so if anyone knows, do keep me informed

btw: their pfp is ai generated too, it looks fine from afar but when you see it up close it has that weird, melt-y texture that indicates its ai

also this channel isnt too small to monetise actually, i must have misremembered, however i have seen other channels that are

y'know how sometimes you'll come across a fuckn WILD comment or response on a post, usually either 1) a very short and inflammatory statement OR 2) a very long bigoted rant

And then you go to their blog and it's just them angrily reblogging shit and arguing with people in the notes or in ping-pong reblog chains?

Instead of giving them your time and energy, remember that in 2024 nearly half of all web traffic was non-human, about a whole third of traffic was specifically malicious bots, and that this year we're likely to pass the tipping point where more than half of all internet activity is non-human. All that IN ADDITION to rampant malicious/bad-faith HUMAN trolls which are even sometimes much harder to identify.

ngl character ai is really boring

on one hand, yeah it's ai and it's steals from existing writing and ouuugh ai is bad we all know this but i do see a lotta people even from creative spheres talk about it positively a lot — which i'm not tryna get on a high horse about, mind you. i really liked it at first too

but it's like...so;; boring? everything misses that human aspect, or there are small subtleties it doesn't understand or whatever. sometimes it's funny for trolling, but for characters and world-building and roleplays, imo, it's soooo boringggg. it says the same things half the time and obviously doesn't know where to go. nothing's ever interesting. it really does feel like junk. which it is. but like. how did it get so popular. i don't get how most my friends are still so extremely attached to it
