Amy Jade Winehouse (14 September 1983 – 23 July 2011) was a singer and songwriter. Winehouse’s distinctive baritone and expressive vocals allowed her to seamlessly mix several genres: Soul, R&B, and Jazz. She released only two albums with critical success in the UK and was nominated for a Mercury Prize. She won 5 Grammy Awards and numerous other awards over her tragically short career. I remember the crazy buzz around her when she started gaining notoriety. She collaborated with artists like legendary singer Tony Bennett, rapper Nas, and others. Unfortunately, her addictions got the best of her, ending her life. Her talented career had a fantastic voice and a love and respect for performing music. It’s sad to see her go so early in her life.
