Personal Space (two Bradshaws like it now)
Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw x Reader
Summary: A sequel in which you love your personal space. Unfortunately, Bradley also loves your personal space. Even more so now you’ve had a baby, apparently.
Can be read as a part 2, but doesn’t have to be. Read Personal Space here
Tumblr media
You really didn’t know when it all happened, when you and Bradley became a thing. At first he was just an annoying crew member you couldn’t shake off your tail. Then he was your wingman. Then you got accidentally placed into marriage accommodation and the two of you played it off so you could get better housing. Then you actually bought a house. And then somewhere along the way you got married.
“Where shall we have the wedding?” Bradley asked and you raised a brow “register office” you shrug “what you don’t want a wedding?” He asks, hand on his chest as he feigns offence. “You do?” You ask and he nods vigorously. You huff. “Fine” “so shall we do it on the beach?” He asks “okay” you just go along with it, hardly even entertaining the idea at all.
“So? What do you think?” Nat asks as she makes you pivot in a white gown “I think I look like a roll of toilet paper” you said, crossing your arms “maybe it’s just not the dress for you?” She reasons and you shake your head “just not really into the whole idea of this wedding. I kinda thought we’d just sign papers and get on with it” you said “well you picked Bradshaw, he’s a drama queen at the best of times” she says and you him in agreement; your consultant leading you back to the fitting rooms “let’s try another”.
You’d left with a sleeved dress; hating the idea of having a low cut dress, and begging Nat to just let you leave. Sure, you loved the dress - but you loved the idea of getting out of that suffocating shop more.
“Hey honey” Bradley had said, hearing you walk into the house and set your keys on the kitchen counter. “Hi” you reply shortly, moving to fill your cup with water from the sink. “How was your day?” He asked, moving to rest his head on your shoulder and holding you from behind. “Good. Bought a wedding dress” you say simply “you did what?!”
Then on your wedding day, you’d stared at yourself in the mirror far too long. “You look gorgeous” Penny whispers, squeezing your shoulders comfortingly “I look like a fucking pin up doll” you huff, not necessarily believing yourself - just not used to being such a central perspective of attention. “Wow” your dad says, walking into the room “you look gorgeous” he whispers “is there an echo in here?” You mumble, but smile at him “thank you” you say, wiping the tears from under his eyes. “C’mon, Bradley’s nearly about to come get you himself”
You showed up to the beach-front wedding right on time, completely dead against the idea of being in any way, shape, or form late. Your father gave you away, Bradley in floods of tears at the end of the isle by the time you’d gotten there. “You look incredible” he whispers, lips quivering as he stares at you “shut up you’re going to make me cry.” You grumble, but smile. “It’s okay to cry.” He says, as the ceremony begins. “You may now kiss your bride” and Bradley dipped you and kissed you sweetly, drowning out the cheers of those around you. “I love you, Bradshaw.” You say, smally, “I love you more, sweetheart” he says and kisses your forehead “you’re crying” he points out “shut up”
And then you looked at the two lines on the pregnancy test two years later. You hummed “okay” and looked at yourself in the mirror, knowing nothing else other than the fact that you had to tell Bradley right that second. You marched downstairs, where he was sat playing with some keys on the piano you’d bought him last Christmas, stopping next to him. “Hey baby, y’alright?” He asked, and you just held out the stick to him. “What’s this?” He asks, taking it from you and looking over it once. “You serious?” He asked, looking at you; smile growing from ear to ear “you’re pregnant?” He almost whispers “unless the other four lied.” you say and he jumps up and pulls you into his arms, kissing all over your face until you shouted at him to stop.
He knelt down and looked at your stomach, kissing it gently then moving to put his ear against it “uh huh” he hummed “Bradley what are you-” “shush I’m talking to em” he says and you stand, unimpressed, but let him nonetheless. “Oh yeah baby, I’m excited to meet you too” he coos “yeah, yeah, I’m your dad” and you audibly giggle. He looks up at you, eyes wide “you done?” You ask and he nods “yeah little one was done talking” he smiles, and hugs you close again. “I need to get the baby clothes out of the attic” he mumbles, kissing your temple “the what?” You ask “I bought them when we started renting the house!” He says, dragging you excitedly up the stairs “but we own the house, Brad” you him “no, no, the one we had during the mission!” He says and you gasp internally, realising how long the two of you had been together without even noticing it.
“Hey dad” you say, as you and Bradley head into the hangar he and you owned “hey honey, hey Brad” your dad greets, wiping the oil from his hands to come over and talk to the two of you. He kissed your forehead and hugged you, then your husband before walking back over to the aircraft he was working on. “Thought you needed a new picture for your pinboard” you hum “oh? I just added the wedding photo!” He says, excitedly, showing you the filled gap. “Okay, guess you don’t want the sonogram of your grandchild.” You say, turning to head out before Bradley hurriedly grabbed you and turned you back into the situation, pulling the strip of photos from his breast pocket. Your dad stood with his jaw wide open “you’re-” he breathes “you’re really pregnant?” He asks as his eyes well with tears “well I wouldn’t lie-” you say but he just pulls you into a big bear hug, pinning Baby Bradshaw’s picture onto his board.
You head to go look at the part of the engine your dad couldn’t quite fix while Bradley held back with Maverick. He turns to him and shakes his hand “your dad would’ve been so proud.” He says, smiling at Bradley “I know you are.” Rooster smiles, wordlessly being pulled into a hug with his father-in-law.
Then one evening you were sat up in bed, Bradley sound asleep beside you as you look down at the barely visible bump. Bradley had sort of a sixth sense, somehow knowing you weren’t asleep beside him. “Hey, baby what’s up?” He croaks, immediately moving to sit up with you when he sees his senses were correct. “I don’t know what I’m supposed to do, Bradley.” You say, staring ahead at the wall “what do you mean?” He asks, wrapping an arm around your shoulder. “I mean I’m a fighter pilot, I was raised by a single father, I never had that maternal instinct, what am I doing?” You whisper, and when Bradley managed to finally pull your face towards him you were crying “oh sweetheart” he hums, pulling you into him gently “you’re gonna be the best momma ever, and the fact that you worry proves that. I love you, okay?” He comforts “I know. I love you too.”
You were stubborn the whole pregnancy. You thought it was ridiculous that people just stopped when they were pregnant, and Bradley was trailing you trying anything to get you to just relax. “Hen, please!” He begs as you head out for your morning run “I’m three months pregnant, Bradley. I’m not incompetent.” You snap, as he begrudgingly pulls on his running shoes and follows you out the door. He pulled you back anytime you went quicker than a 10 minute mile “Bradley, if you slow me down one more time I’m going to pull your arm out of your socket” you snap and he holds his hands up “message received.”
Then one day, at around the sixth month mark you walked into the house and slammed the door so hard it rattled. “What’s up?” Bradley asked, as you practically threw your stuff on the floor. “They’re putting me on the desk.” You grumble, anger evident in your eyes while his soften “oh baby we knew that was gonna happen” he soothes, rubbing your arm reassuringly “no! No we didn’t! I was perfectly fine hiding the bump, but no!” You huff “I’m Bradley Bradshaw and all of California has to know my wife’s pregnant!” You imitate him but he just smirks “oh I’m so sorry that everyone needs to know you’re taken and carrying my baby” he says, smugly. “Don’t you smile at me Bradley-” you wag an accusatory finger at him, but he heaves you over his shoulder, and towards the stairs “c’mon, let’s help you blow off some steam” he reasons “y’know it’s possible to get pregnant while pregnant, right?” You ask and he cheers “woohoo! Two for one deal, sounds great!” He says and you can’t help but smile.
Then came your maternity leave, Bradley picked you up in his bronco. You were quick to head outside, and he kinda hated how well you hid the bump. “I’m done.” You huff, settling into the seat beside him “if that bitch from accounting asks me one more time if I want her herbal teas I’m going to knock her teeth out” you complain and Bradley chuckles “well, just me, you and Baby Bradshaw now” he says and you hum in agreement.
But when you approached your street, you rolled straight past your house and straight to the Hard Deck ‘congratulations on your baby’ banners plastered all over “welcome to our baby shower!” Bradley grins as you pull up “is this really necessary? They aren’t even here yet.” You tell him and he shrugs “thought it might take your mind off maternity leave” you smile at him “thanks, Brad”
And at one point in the evening, you sat Natasha and Bob down separately. “Hey Phoenix, can we borrow you?” Brad asked, pulling her away from her conversation “yeah of course guys!” You took a seat at a table and Bradley forced you to elevate your feet against your will. “What’s up?” She asks “how’d you like to be godmother to little Bradshaw?” Her eyes lit up when Bradley asked and she leant over the table to hug the two of you “oh I’d love too!” She announces, excitedly.
Then you head over to Bob, but Phoenix holds Rooster back “they have a special connection, let her do this”. You sit on the stool next to Bob and he offers you some peanuts which you refuse, and you stay sat in silence for a minute. “Bob can I ask you something?” You ask, as he pulls your calves up to rest in his lap “of course, hen” he says, brushing some crumbs off his top “what’s up?” “Well, the job we’re in isn’t an old job” you say and he laughs and agrees “it’s also dangerous” you say, and again - he nods. “So if anything happens to me and Brad, can you be there for little Bradshaw?” His eyes widen and start to swell with tears “will you be our godfather?” You ask and he nods, moving to miss your cheek “of course I will, hen. I’d be honoured.”
Bradley and you had started putting together your hospital bag at the 8 month mark. You were both premature so had a bit of superstition, especially with only being a few weeks off of the 40 mark. You’d placed the bag by the front door, along with a baby carrier in the middle seat of his Bronco.
It was week 38 when you were both putting together the crib beside your bed, two spare bedrooms and still you only wanted your baby beside you. “Okay all done, baby” your husband said “okay. My water broke three minutes ago” you say as calmly as he had, he nods, then whips his head back round “your water broke?” He asks and looks down, and indeed, your water had broken “oh my god your water broke?!” He announced, picking you up bridal style and carrying you out to the bronco, picking the hospital bag up on the way. “Ready to have a baby?” He asks, giddily. “Am I supposed to be?” You ask and he shakes his head with a smile “no”
You were dead silent during birth and it scared the shit out of Bradley. “Do you want an epidural, honey? They’ve offered-” “no.” “Can I get you more ice?” “No.” And he tried everything, even when it was time to push. You held his hand and your mouth was zipped shut. “Is she supposed to be this quiet?” He asked the doctor who just looked at him nonchalantly “it’s normal, all mothers react differently to birth” he said. “I’m a fighter pilot Bradley. I’ve had worse.” You grit. “Breathe baby” he tells you “I think you need to.” You say “stop being dramatic” you say as you push again “honey-” “either shut up or get out.” You tell him and he glues his mouth shut, at least until the baby comes.
Bradley cuts the chord and they hand you your baby, and your eyes widen as you stare at the baby on your chest “welcome to the world Nick Bradshaw” you coo at the baby and Bradley raised his brows “Nick?” He asks, voice cracking “what? Got a problem with that? You and your stupid dick” you grumble and Bradley laughs and shakes his head, kissing your forehead.
“Hey mom, shall we take baby so you can get some rest?” The nurse asked, leaning to take Nick from your arms “excuse me?” You asked, pulling your baby closer. “So you can sleep?” She suggests “I’ve carried him for nine months and now he’s here you’re taking him away?” You ask “well, some mothers like to sleep” “I can sleep when I’m dead.” You deadpan, and she realised that Nick wouldn’t have been pried from your hands even if you were dead, so she left you all alone.
“Taking you away from mommy? Who does she think she is?” You whisper to baby Nick. “Welcome back to the world, Bradshaw.” You say and Bradley can only smile and hold the two of you close.
You’re going to be just fine in this mommy role.

Rooster had no idea what he was walking into. The last time he talked to you was this afternoon, when you asked if he was planning to go out with the team tonight. When he responded with ‘Maybe, why?’  you sent him a photo of you in his favorite black lingerie set and one of his Hawaiian shirts. He had a hard time focusing the rest of the day. As he turns his key in the door he is met with the smell of his favorite dinner that you made. He walked into the kitchen and saw that you were still wearing everything from the photo but you had put pants on much to his dismay. “Why hello, Mrs. Bradshaw,” he said, kissing your shoulder. “To what do I owe this special occasion?” he said, spinning you around to face him.
“Im ovulating so I thought ” is all you got out before he threw you over his shoulder. He quickly looked at the stove and oven to ensure it was not on. He’d made that mistake before and never again. “Bradley '' you said as you wiggled in his arms.
“You’d better stop moving, you're lucky you're ovulating because you’ve been a brat.” he said with a smack to your ass. You let out a moan, that only encourages him to do it again. He throws you on the bed and begins to strip you of all of your clothes. “Do you understand how hard it was to focus at work because of your little stunt?” he said while you rid him of his clothes. “God I am the luckiest man alive to have you naked in my bed” he said kissing down your body.
“Don’t tease Bradley” you whined squirming in his hold. He flips you over and smacks your ass. As you moan he starts playing with your clit, preparing you for him. As he slides in you are met with the pleasure and burning sensation that he always brings. As you moan he kisses the shell of your ear.
“Ahh Y/n you’re always so tight, it’s like you were made for me.” he starts thrusting harder, grabs your hair, and pulls you up to his chest. As he plays with your clit you begin to climax
“Oh god, I’m” you start to feel the burning need to cum. “Bradley” you whimper out.
“Let go, baby, I’ve got you” he said thrusting into you. He works you through your orgasm, you can tell he is getting closer.
He is absolutely feral, he flips you over. Now you are in missionary with both of your legs on his shoulder.
“Im going to cum so deep in you,” he grunts while becoming erratic and fucking you so hard.
“Oh god, Bradley I’m going to cum” you say seeing stars. He cums with a loud moan, falling onto you and kissing you passionately. He pulls out and goes to get washrags. When he gets back he collects his seeds and pushes it back into you as you moan from the stimulation.
“Can’t let anything go to waste” he said with a smirk. He kisses you and lay’s down. He grabs and cuddles you.
“I can’t wait till I’m pregnant, then I can just wobble around,” you said in a sleepy voice.
“Me neither, I can’t wait to see you waddle. You’re going to be the cutest pregnant woman around”
“I won’t waddle, that’s for penguins. Im going to wobble” you said cuddling into him. He rolled his eyes and kissed your head before you both fell into a deep sleep.

If your requests are still open can you write one with Miles Teller where the reader is in the military (you can decide which branch) and she helps him get ready for his role as Bradley “ROOSTER” Bradshaw and also helps on set. Then while filming that’s when the reader finds out she’s pregnant and enlists in the casts help in telling Miles.
Baby Teller • miles teller
Tumblr media
I hope I’ve done you’re amazing request justice. After the mention of incorporating the idea of protective Miles from @nickie-amore that isn’t on the request I just had to give it a go and include it, it is short and brief though so I hope that is still okay! At first it scared me that I wouldn’t be able to write for this request but I really enjoyed this. I will disclaimer that I have no US Military knowledge what so ever so I’ve done some research for this in terms of rank and the roles in the different armed forces so I left the detailing very vague. I can’t speak for all the great service women out there so I’m sorry if my portrayal is incorrect. I apologise if it doesn’t replicate your vision for your request in the way I have executed it. Also I should say that there are some time skips of when everything takes place so I’ll separate them and hope that it’s clear enough.

Warnings: not a lot of Miles until towards the end, fluff
Miles Teller x fem!reader
Word count: 2.5k
After we had found out the great news that Miles was going to be in the sequel film of Top Gun everything changed. I was so happy for him, I knew this role meant a lot to him and I also knew he wanted to do it for me. As a woman in the US military I was sadly use to the odd derogatory terms that were thrown at me, times have certainly changed enough to allow me to do the role I do, just as good (if not better than) my fellow skilled aircraft specialists but it doesn’t mean they choose to accept me. Because of the countless times I have wondered if I was good enough and if I actually should have my rank in the Air Force working as an Airforce Mechanic specialising in maintaining and repairing the planes having to prove myself wasn’t always easy and no one knows that better than Miles. He’s been my biggest supporter and helped me make the choice to enlist in the first place all those years ago before we had even started dating and were just friends.
The whole reason why he auditioned for the role of Rooster, as far as I was aware and could only speak for myself, is because he wanted to understand my life, the life my dad and grandfather led before me and the whole reason why I joined the US Air Force. Before I became a Teller, I was a(n) (Y/L/N) and it certainly showed in the path I chose to take.
Even though I’m not a part of the Navy, I know a hell of a lot about planes and the mechanics behind them. What I didn’t expect was for him to want me to be there every step of the way of filming, him wanting to do it all justice and as realistic as possible was his reasoning for having me behind the scenes and no one disagreed with that. There was even mention of including my name in the closing credits (how crazy is that?!). So that’s what I did, whenever he or any of the other cast or crew asked any questions I answered them as best as I could with my knowledge that 9 times out of 10 came in handy.
I loved getting to know everyone, they became another family like how I was with my brothers and sisters in my regiment were and what was even more lovely was that they all included me in it as well.
As filming got underway all of Miles’ focus went on his performance of getting into his role and I was giving as much advice as I could as well as enjoying seeing my husband at work in his element being so tirelessly busy so it came as a shock to me after I found out that what I thought was a little stomach bug going around set was something much more permanent, well at least for the next 9 months or so. I can’t deny it must have been the moustache, it should be a crime to look that good with one.
Tumblr media
“Hey that’s the fourth time in an hour you’ve been going to the bathroom. Are you okay (Y/N)?” Monica ever the observer asks me after I come back from the toilets for the fourth time in an hour like she so correctly pointed out. Me and Monica had formed such a great bond, don’t get me wrong we all had, but maybe it’s because I see myself in the role that she’s playing as Phoenix so much, being one of the women in essentially a “man’s world”, she was doing it justice and letting us have the recognition we deserved. It’s hard and draining at times but the job as a whole is also so rewarding and I couldn’t see myself giving it up. I wouldn’t change it for the world, the good and bad times because that’s shaped me for who I am now and there’s no time dwelling on past situations when the future is right ahead of us.
I look into her brown eyes before checking that the surrounding area is clear, when I’m happy that no one is in close range to hear us I reply. “I found out yesterday morning that I’m pregnant, roughly six weeks along so still early days.”
I watch as her eyes widen and I cover her mouth with my hand before she can utter a word but I hear a slight catch in her throat sound out slightly. “You’re the only person I’ve told. Miles doesn’t know yet, to be honest I don’t know how to tell him. Even though we’ve been together for a long time we’ve only been married over a year and I know there are some future projects he wants to be involved with. I know he’s going to be happy, so happy, but I understand he’s focused on filming right now and it means so much to him I don’t want the news to mess with his head frame for filming so please don’t tell him, I’m not ready ye-“ I’m caught off guard as Monica reciprocates my actions from seconds before seizing my rambling with the palm of her hand and making me drop mine in shock.
Her eyebrows furrow as I see her process my words over in her mind. “When are you going to tell him then?”
She looks at me anticipating my reply, I stare back the silence growing awkward, I look down at the palm still covering my mouth. “Oh yeah, sorry about that.” She chuckles and I roll my eyes good heartedly before joining in with her laughter.
“Well I was thinking of probably telling him on the last day of filming, I was hoping you and the boys would help me.” I try and pull my best puppy dog eyes which seems to work quite well on her. I knew they would, they always catch Miles out and haven’t failed me yet.
“Say no more, I’m sure they’ll be thrilled to help.”
Ever since then me and Monica and the boys have been catching up and spending as much time revising the plan as possible to tell Miles during their time when they’re not needed onscreen. Miles has been none the wiser which has helped the plan commence even better than I could have asked for.
As the days have drawn closer to the impending anticipated end date of filming and my bump continuing to grow and being kept hidden by lots of loose fitting attire I also grew more nervous as every day passed. Even though Miles, as far as I was aware, had no clue about the plan I couldn’t say the same about my newfound distance I was putting between the two of us unintentionally of course. Because the bump was more prominent now I was more inclined to shy away from his touch which was the hardest thing to do when all I wanted was to cuddle up close and share the good news but it had to be done for the sake of the unveiling that wouldn’t be long now.
Tumblr media
“Y/N have you seen my Hawaiian shirt? I can’t find it anywhere.”
“Which one? There’s many of them.”
“The cream and kinda green one, I wore it during the bar scene. I need it for filming because we’re reshooting it tomorrow.”
He doesn’t but we’ve had everyone pretend that they’re going to be reshooting a scene when in actual fact it’s going to be the grand reveal and filming was completely finished which he didn’t know just yet.
I’m no seamstress by any means so one of the lovely costume designers actually used a template and replicated his Hawaiian shirt using the actual one he wears walking into the bar (the one he is currently looking for) but making it a smaller scale and it honestly turned out so cute. I couldn’t wait to see his reaction, and I didn’t have to wait too long now.
Tumblr media
The time was finally here, after I sent him off in search of a shirt I knew he wouldn’t be able to find I went the meet with the cast. I find them in the bar, cameras placed hidden in plain sight but only if you knew where to look. I wanted to capture this moment forever and Tom managed to pull some stings for it to happen. Not only was my name going to be in the credits but this video was going to play at the very end too, my nerves were increased to the max because I knew this could only be done in one take and there was no places for screw ups.
I’d asked Glen to send a message to Miles to ask him to join us for “filming” so he should be here any second.
“Hey everyone.” He says when he walks through the door, his face set in confusion as he does a double take at seeing all of the cast sat at the tables and bar stools around one side of the bar.
I clear my throat before standing up so he can see me more easily. His face lights up as he begins to head in my direction and I meet him half way, feeling everyone’s eyes on us as I prepare to tell him the news. I leave my hands behind my back so he can’t see the neatly wrapped package I have clenched in my fists.
“What’s going on sweetheart. Is everything okay (Y/N)?” The worry is easy to hear in his voice and he reaches his left hand up and holds my cheek, I lean into his touch hoping it’ll help me find some strength.
I breath in deeply and let out a loud sigh that comes out sounding shaky. “I’ve asked you and everyone here because there’s something I need to tell you. First I would like to say thank you to everyone for helping me make this happen, now that it’s suddenly here and we’ve come to an end of an incredible movie that I know people of all ages are going to love. Friends have been made for life and
He opens the present, pulling out the Hawaiian shirt and revealing the small rooster soft toy that has a tag around one of its foot that reads ‘Baby Teller’. I notice the moment he figures it out, my throat catching and unshed tears begin brewing in my eyes.
“Really?” The biggest smile stretches over his face.
I nod, calming my nerves down. “Yes, really.”
“So there wasn’t going to be any filming today?”
“No baby, we just said that to get you here.”
He begins to laugh, nearly manically, sounding relieved.
He must see the confusion on my face because he explains. “I was worried you were going to ask for a divorce. I thought I’d made a terrible mistake of asking you to help, that I was asking too much of you and not seeing you on and off set enough. You had me really worried sweetheart, please don’t do that again okay? I don’t think I could take it.” He says, pulling me in close. The feel of his warm, strong arms encasing me makes me feel protected and fortunate of having such an understanding and loving man in my life. I know our baby is going to be the luckiest little bean in the world.
“Never again baby I promise, I’m sorry for worrying you but I’m so happy the plan worked out perfectly.”
“Yeah, me too.” He pulls away and cups my cheeks in his hands, stroking my skin softly and staring deeply into my eyes locking me in place and unable to look away even though that’s the last thing I could want to do. He leans down and connects our lips in a soft caress that progressively gets more heated and I hear clapping and cheering surrounding us but doesn’t deter us at all.
Glen and Lewis begin singing the chorus to Great Balls of Fire, roping everybody else in, gradually getting louder. We break apart laughing and turn to everyone with their arms in the air. This wasn’t part of the plan but I’m glad it’s been included. I couldn’t wait to replay the video and watch this whole moment back and for everyone else to see it too.
Tumblr media
After filming finished, the interviews and premiere’s began. I went to as many as I could during the early stages of pregnancy and even when my bump became more pronounced in the dresses I wore I tried to go to as many as I could before I had to stay home and not travel as my due date neared in the coming weeks.
Miles has been amazing all the way throughout and has gone to every appointment he could when he wasn’t stuck in doing interviews. I knew those times were hard for him but I made sure to relay everything that was said to me straight after.
I didn’t prepare myself for how protective Miles would become. After getting to the end of every month hinting at the arrival of the baby it became clear he didn’t want to leave my side.
At first I found it sweet and endearing but after so many months of this mother hen clucking around me it did become irritating rather quickly. I tried to say nothing in moments when the protectiveness hit its maximum limit because I know it’s just nerves and excitement all wrapped into one for our first child.
All of the premieres I did manage to go to when the camera men and interviewers were near they always asked to see baby bump and every time our photos were taken Miles was right by my side a hand on my back and the other protecting my bump rubbing it softly.
There was one photo that was my favourite of them all. We were having our photo taken, in that exact position and the baby kicked at the perfect moment, the image capturing him looking down at the bump with a toothy grin and me staring lovingly at him. A definite highlight of mine
Tumblr media
“So what have you named him?”
We look at each other before turning our attention back to the phone screen, lots of faces staring back at us on FaceTime. “We’ve decided to call him Bradley.”
The answering chatter and cheer becomes a big jumble of noise that I can’t tell who’s saying what.
“That’s so sweet.”
“Such a good choice.”
“Oh I love it!”
“Bradley Teller? Has a good ring to it.”
“Glen is a much better choice but Bradley will do. It’s second best at most.”
We all laugh at Glen’s comment, he would ask me constantly if Glen was in the running of baby names after I chose to find out the baby’s sex.
We all stay silent after Bradley makes a noise of discontent after disturbing his peaceful sleep and hold our breathes until he lets out a little sigh before settling back down again against Miles’ bare chest beside me. Everyone coo’s upon hearing the soft sound out of his little mouth.
For me baby Teller was always going to be called one name and one name only.
Bradley Alexander Teller.

A/N: I wasn’t going to include a middle name at first but then I thought Miles’ middle name would be perfect. I hope you all enjoyed it. Please let me know. Z❤️

Rooster eases himself out of bed as quietly as possible. It is still pitch-black outside, so he does his best to navigate through the dimly lit room without running into anything. Once he makes it to the bathroom door, he slips inside and flips on the light.
He starts stripping down and is just about to step into the shower when his phone buzzes. Glancing at it, he curses under his breath. Another schedule change means there’s no time for a shower before he has to leave. So, he quickly pulls on his uniform and runs his comb through his sleep-tousled hair.
As he stares into the mirror, the man gazing back at him seems so much calmer and more composed than he feels inside. It is an ability he has mastered after years of practice. Because he knows he can’t walk out of this room with the terror and anxiety he is feeling about this mission etched on his face. He would never do that to you.
As he opens the door, he catches sight of the bed as it is bathed in the glow from the bathroom light. You are laying on your stomach, hair splayed across your pillow and over part of your face. One arm is stretched out onto his side of the bed, fingers clutching at the sheets as even in sleep you are searching for him.
Walking over to your side of the bed, he leans over and places a gentle kiss on your temple causing you to stir softly. Without opening your eyes, you mumble, “Mmm. What time is it?”
Rooster brushes the hair off your face as he whispers, “It’s only 4:30. Go back to sleep, baby.”
You nod slightly and roll onto your back. The movement causes your thin nightshirt to ride up, revealing the slight bump of your stomach. At only three months along, most people would probably not notice the slight swell in your midsection, but to Rooster, who knows your body inside and out, it stands out immediately. He knows that it is his child in there, a child that if things went wrong on the mission, he would never get to meet.
He had always been unsure about having kids. Knowing the dangers associated with his job, he wasn’t sure if he wanted to risk leaving a kid without a father like he was. Yet, the moment you had called and told him, all the doubts, all the fears instantly melted away and he was left wondering how he could have ever imagined his life without a child of his own. One that he created with you.
The two of you had been high school sweethearts, married right after graduation, and you had been with him through every major moment in his life and there was no one else he could picture having by his side for this one. However, this mission he was leaving for is more dangerous than anything he had ever flown before. And there was a good chance he wouldn’t be making it back.
Rooster thinks about his confrontation with Maverick just after Phoenix and Bob’s accident. He had thrown it in the older man’s face that Maverick didn’t have a wife or child to mourn him if something happened to him. And as much as he was referring to his dad’s death at that moment, in his head, he also meant it as what would happen to you and the baby if he didn’t come back from this mission. At least he still has photos and vague, fuzzy memories of time with his dad. But if Rooster was killed tomorrow, his child wouldn’t even have that.
That realization brings Rooster to his knees beside the bed. The idea that his child would never get to hear his voice, see his smile, feel his love….. Somehow this possibility had never crossed his mind until now. Slowly, he climbs onto the bed and rests one hand on your stomach, spreading his large fingers across your bare skin. He rests it there for a minute, silently trying to express all the things he wanted his child to know, especially how much he loved him or her.
Bending down, he lightly brushes his lips across the tender skin of your stomach, causing you to giggle softly. Lazily, you push at his head as you playfully whine, “Bradley, stop! Your mustache is tickling me and I’m trying to sleep.”
“Sorry about that. Is this better?” He slides up your body until he is able to press his lips against yours.
You hum softly against his mouth. “Yes, much better.”
He deepens the kiss, knowing he doesn’t have time but also knowing that just like his child, he needs you to know how much he loves you.
After a moment, you grab his arm and try to drag him further into the bed, but he reluctantly resists as he pries himself from your grasp and sits up. Seeing how his loving expression has slipped into something more somber, you sit up, suddenly awake. “What’s wrong?”
Rooster sighed. “Phoenix just texted me. They moved up our check-in time. She’s on her way right now to pick me up.”
The sorrow on your face shatters Rooster’s heart. “But… we were supposed to have the whole morning! I got those cinnamon rolls you like from the bakery for your farewell breakfast!”
He cups your face as you lean into his touch. “I know. I’m sorry, baby. But I have to go. Phoenix will be here any minute to pick me up.”
He runs his other hand gently across your stomach and you sigh. “You didn’t tell them, did you? Any of them, not even Phoenix.”
Rooster shakes his head. “If I did, they’d have found some excuse to not let me go.”
“And that’s such a bad thing?” you ask with a doleful scoff.
“Baby, you know I have to do this. It’s my job and I’m one of the only people who can do it.”
You tilt your head so it leans further into his caress. “I know. That’s why I’m not asking you not to go. I’m just asking you to come back.” You place one hand softly on your stomach. “I can’t do this alone. We need you.”
Rooster chuckles. “No, you don’t. Not really. You’re going to be an amazing mother, with or without me.”
“Oh, I know I’m going to be amazing. Don’t worry about that,” you tease before becoming more serious once again. “But don’t make me prove I can do this alone. That wasn’t a challenge. I need us to do this together.”
“I’m going to try my absolute best……. but I want you to keep this.” Rooster slips off his wedding ring and holds it out to you.
You stare at it in horror, tears springing to your eyes. “No, Bradley, no. I know what that means and I’m not taking that.”
He moves his hand closer to you, urging you to take it. “If something goes wrong, they may not be able to get it back to you and I want you to have it. Please.”
You began to shake your head forcefully. “Don’t ask me to keep that. You’ve never asked me to keep it before. You’re going to come home, and you’ll be wearing it when you do.”
“Baby, it was my dad’s, and if something goes wrong….. I want our kid to have it. I want you to be able to give it to them one day.”
Your lip begins to tremble as you stare at the ring. Then slowly, you reach out and take it from him. “Don’t you dare make me do that, Bradley Bradshaw. Don’t you dare…. This is going back on your finger in a few days, then it’s never coming off again. Do you hear me?”
He nods before gathering you into his arms. You cling tightly to him and bury your face into his chest as he leans over and rests his head on top of yours. The two of you remain silently wrapped in each other’s embrace, both trying not to think about the meaning behind what just happened.
Suddenly, Rooster’s phone buzzes. Glancing at it, he sighs. “Phoenix is here. I have to go.”
He places a long, lingering kiss on the top of your head before carefully extracting himself from your grasp. As he stands, he runs his hand softly over your stomach one final time. Then he walks over to the bedroom door. But just as his hand wraps around the door handle, he hears you whisper from the bed. “I could call Maverick you know. The second I tell him the truth, about the baby, he would ground you.”
Rooster sighs as he rests his head on the doorframe. “I know. But I also know you love me too much to do that. You understand what this mission means to me.”
“Apparently more than we mean to you.”
Rooster whirled around, his face shifting quickly between a dozen different emotions. “You know that isn’t true!”
You nod softly with your head down, but Rooster can still see the tears beginning to stream down your face. “You’re right. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it. I just….”
Another buzz of Rooster’s phone cuts you off. He quickly mutes it. “Sorry. Go on.”
But you shake your head as you purse your lips. “No, you need to go. You can’t keep them waiting.”
“Baby…”
He takes a step closer to you, but you hold up your hands, halting him. “Go, Rooster. You have a job to do, so do it and come home. Come home to us.”
Rooster. If you have resorted to calling him that, then there is nothing left to say. He nods and turns back to the door. As he opens it, he pauses for just a moment. Without turning around, he says, “I love you.”
There is a three-second pause that seems to stretch on for an eternity before you whisper, “I love you, too.”
And with that, Rooster walks out the door. As soon as it is closed, he hears you collapse onto the bed sobbing. But he can’t look back. If he does, he knows he will never leave. So instead, he places one foot in front of the other as he heads off into the unknown, hoping that one day soon, he will be walking back down into that room and into your arms once more.

LOST HOPE - PT 3.
Jake “hangman” Seresin x Reader
Summary: Jake arrived home from deployment. You finally told him the exciting news. You make an appointment to make sure everything is going okay. You and Jake both find out shocking news.
THREE days passed.
It was the longest three days of your life. No contact from Jake due to the mission being top secret was extremely hard on you, but it also gave you time to figure out a way to tell Jake that you were pregnant again.
Although you were still very sad and missed him, you wanted to surprise him when he got back from the mission.
You didn’t want anything humorous or over the top, something simple is what you were looking for. You found just that when you were scrolling through the internet. You found a onesie that had the words, “Miracles Happen.” And that’s when you added it to your cart and overnighted it with a pair of little grey shoes as well and a customized box that had Jake’s name on it.
When you received the onesie in the mail, you grabbed it from the front door with such excitement, you yelped. You hugged it to your chest, feeling the joy erupting within you. You couldn’t wait to tell Jake and see his expression.
When the day came around for Jake to arrive home, you made sure the house was spotless and made sure thar you looked nice as well. Curling your hair, applying some mascara and a little bit of foundation. You didn’t want Jake coming home to a dirty house after his exhausting trip, plus you wanted to look nice for him. It was always a nice surprise for him. Ultimately, you just wanted to make sure he came home and felt relaxed.
You did everything you can. Vacuumed the bedrooms, the living room, made the bed, fluffed the pillows, making sure candles were burning and smelled nice. Some would say that you went a little overboard, but nothing made you more excited than a clean home… and to have your husband back in your arms.
Once you finished, you grabbed the box and put the tissue paper that you had left over from Christmas in there, laying the onesies flat down and placing 4 pregnancy tests to the side of it and placed the little shoes on the other side. You smiled, feeling butterflies explode in your stomach. This was it, this was the moment you have been urgently waiting for and you couldn’t wait.
You shut your door and walked downstairs, you grabbed a cup of tea and went outside on the front porch, swinging on the chair. If your calculations were right, Jake would be home any minute now – and not even 5 minutes later, you heard Bradley’s bronco roll down the road.
A smiled formed on your face.
When Bradley pulled into the driveaway, he put the car in park and got out to help Jake grab his stuff. You watched as they gave each other a hug and did a handshake – not a formal one, one you would do if you were still in middle school, the fun one. You laughed, feeling happy that they were friends, finally. Bradley gave you a wave and sent one back.
You set you cup of tea down, biting down on your lip to try to hide the smile. You watched as Jake sprinted towards you, dropping his duffle back and stormed up the stairs. You jumped into his arms and wrapped your arms around his neck, pressing your foreheads together. You closed your eyes, just breathing in this moment.
“I missed you,” you stated, feeling tears prick at your eyes. “Thank you for coming home.”
Jake moved his hands up your back, pulling you into him. “Thank you for having faith in me.”
Both of you stayed in this position for a minute longer, hugging each other, embracing your bodies. You both finally went inside. You headed towards the kitchen to grab some more tea and Jake walked into the laundry room to set his bag bad. He walked back and scooped you back into his arms.
This is how the first few moments went when he arrived back home. Physical touch was much needed – for the both of you.
Both of your lips moved in perfect sync with each other.
You pulled back, first, just wanting to admire his face and his beautiful green eyes. You placed one hand on his cheek and gazed at him.
“Jake Seresin, I love you so much.”
“I love you so much.”
You embraced each other for a few more minutes and then pulled away to go do your own thing.
“I’m going to go shower,” Jake said, “then we have a party to get too.”
You furrowed her eyebrows together, “party?”
“Have to celebrate knocking out enemies out,” he smirked, “and gaining one more combat kill.
You leaned against the counter, bringing your hands to your cheek. You loved that Jake was the only one out of the whole unit with confirmed kills – it wasn’t that any of the other ones did, Jake’s were just confirmed, on the record. It was the one of them things you were most proud of. Your pilot, making the biggest name for himself.
“Go shower, Hangman,” you laughed. You remember the box and here come the butterflies again. “Oh, baby, you got something in the mail – I set it on the bed for you. Looks important, I would make sure you open it!”
You watched Jake give a thumbs up and climb up the stairs. You heart started pounding knowing what was about to happened. It was a good moment. You knew that everything was about to change – again. And you weren’t going to let anything ruin it this time. You were going to be careful, and you knew that tragedies were out of your control, but this is your miracle. Jake’s miracle. You’ll be damned if anything were to happen.
You knew it was only going to be minutes before he would be running down the stairs.
You pulled at your fingers, excitedly. You felt your heart jump with joy, and when you heard footsteps pounding down the stairs, you looked up and was greeted with Jake with a shocked expression, holding up the onesie. You smiled, tears, once again, forming in your eyes.
“Surprise.”
He set the onesie on the counter and came around the corner, placing a hand on your stomach, bending down, and pressing his lips against your skin. You laughed because it tickled. You placed a hand on his head, running your fingers through his soft hair. He looked up at you and smiled.
He brought himself up and placed each of his hands on the side of your face, pulling you into him. He gently brushed his lips against yours, and then all at once, crashed into you/ The passion in that kiss, the fire that grew between you both, it wasn’t just the loneliness that you both endured, it was the excitement. The excitement of Jake being home, the excitement of the pregnancy.
“You’re really pregnant?” he asked, pulling back.
“Yeah, I am.” You said, tears finally slipping out. “I don’t know how far, but I think it happened the night of the BBQ.”
He engulfed you into a hug. You felt a tear land on your shoulder. Jake was crying, crying happy tears.
“Our little miracle.”
You pulled him tighter, “our little miracle.”
***
You slipped into your favorite summer dress; it was a satin floral mini dress with a low-cut chest. You looked in the mirror, twirling from side to side and then stopping. You placed a hand on your stomach, just imagining a bigger belly and a healthy child growing. You smiled so hard; your cheeks started to hurt.
Jake came out of the closet, slipping on a white button up t-shirt with a pair of khakis and a pair of brown shoes. He came behind you, wrapping his arms around your chest and pulled you into him. He started to sway with you, pressing kisses on your head. You placed your hands on his arms.
“I hope it’s a boy.”
“I want a girl,” he whispered.
That shocked you. A girl? Huh? You never thought in a million years that he would want a girl. You always thought that he would have wanted a boy, you know, so that he could help teach him to play baseball and learn how to fly planes together and to do ‘boy’ things.
“A girl?”
“So, I can have two beautiful girls in my life to spoil,” he paused, “I can do that with a boy, sure, but I want two beautiful girls in my life to also cherish.”
You smiled, hiding your face behind his arms. He grabbed you hand and twirled you around, pulling you into him once more and started to dance with you. You moved closer into him, and you both danced for a few more minutes. It brought you back to your wedding night.
“I can’t wait until we can do this with our little one.”
“Just a matter of time, baby.”
You pulled back, slipping into your sandals and you both headed off towards the party.
***
When you arrived at the party, there were so many families and partners. Everyone cheered and was hugging everyone and congratulating them. Rooster caught sight of you guys and started to head towards you both.
He gave Jake a high five and then swooped you in for a hug.
“Did you tell him?”
You nodded you head, and Bradley went back over to Jake and gave him a hug.
“Y/N told me, congrats!”
“We’re so excited, thanks man!”
Jake and him fist bumped, and they both went to go grab beers while grabbing you a soda. You wished you could have one, but this was the one time where you didn’t really care much considering all the facts. You still couldn’t believe you were pregnant.
The night carried on with everyone playing games and everyone eating the delicious grilled food. Everyone was so excited that they all came home safely and had their loved ones back in their arms. You were especially excited. Both of you were.
You all ended the night sitting around the campfire and talking about summer plans now that the mission was over. Everyone decided to make plans to go on a camping trip in about 3 weeks and that included you and Jake. By the time the camping trip came around, you may be showing. You were showing when you lost the baby about 8 weeks ago but barely.
You and Jake headed home and spent the night making love again and enjoying each other’s presence.
“I am so happy you’re safe.”
“Me too. If it makes you feel any better, I wasn’t chosen. I was just a spare.”
You breathed a sigh of relief, hugging him closer to your body. Although, it wasn’t what Jake wanted, you were thankful that he wasn’t in the danger zone.
“I did get sent up to shoot down an enemy plane, but I didn’t go on the mission.”
“I’m just glad you’re safe, regardless. That’s why I didn’t tell you until you were back. I didn’t want you to worry about anything else.”
Jake hugged you and kissed your forehead, just sitting with each other and eventually falling asleep.
***
2 WEEKS LATER.
When you woke up the next day, you ended up making a phone call to an OBGYN and setting up an appointment to get everything checked out, due date, how far, etc.
The doctor called you and Jake back and you went to a room with an ultrasound. When you arrived, the doctor instructed you to lay down and pull your shirt up so that she could get a good look at the little bean growing inside.
“Let’s get see the little bean, shall we?”
You and Jake both shook your head and smiled. She poured some cool gel onto your stomach, and you shivered at how cold it was.
“It’s always a little cold, sorry about that,” she paused, placing the ultrasound wand on you stomach. You grabbed onto Jake’s hand and squeezed it until you heard the heartbeat echo through the room. “Sounds strong, looks right on track.”
“Oh, thank god.”
The doctor smiled and was pressing some buttons, assuming it was taking pictures. “Two strong heartbeats.”
“You can hear mine and the baby?” You questioned. “I didn’t know you could pick up mine.”
She furrowed her eyebrows together and smiled at you, “three heartbeats, including yours.”
You and Jake’s jaws dropped, and you looked at each other. You grabbed onto his hand and gave it a squeeze. His lips turned into smile, and he bent down, placing a kiss on your forehead. You both looked back at the doctor.
“Twins?”
“Twins.”

You hadn't spoken to your husband in more than three weeks. Not once since he left on a deployment of undetermined length. When you were on base, tucked away in your office or working on a project in the lab, it wasn't so bad. You could almost get lost in the idea of heading home to start dinner and find him working on a project. You could nearly pretend he'd be ready to wrap you up in his arms and ask about your day. But you knew better than to drift all the way into that daydream, because he wasn't there, and you didn't know when he would be back.
At least Tramp greeted you with excitement when you walked in each day, but you suspected that was partially because he knew you were about to feed him. Your friends kept you busy on the weekends, and Jake stopped by the Craftsman on occasion with Jeremiah when Cat needed a break. Today, he even made a comment about the multitude of pallets lined up on your driveway that prevented you from pulling all the way up to where you usually parked.
"When Rooster gets back, I'll give him a hand building that jungle gym," Jake drawled as you handed a cracker to Jeremiah. "We'll have it finished in a weekend, and then Jer can test it out."
You watched Jake kiss Cat's son on the cheek as you said, "He can teach the Nugget all about the slide and the swings when the time comes." Your belly felt a little tender as you ran your hand over your shirt, loving the feel of the bump beneath your fingers. You were nineteen weeks along, and when Bradley left, you'd still looked just bloated. Now you were starting to get round in all the places that made you excited for what was to come. And after so many weeks of non stop nausea and vomiting, you were happy you could finally eat.
Jake snorted. "You've taken to calling the baby a Nugget, too? Thought that was just your husband."
You rolled your eyes and flicked his arm. "Maybe I miss him, okay? Like a lot." Your voice shook even though you were trying for a teasing tone, and Jake's features softened. You quickly asked, "Are you two staying for dinner?"
Jeremiah was such a sweet toddler, and you were so lonely today, you were hoping Jake would say yes. But he kissed you on the cheek before he said, "Not tonight. I told Cat we'd be home by six."
You just nodded, once again afraid your voice might shake. You'd be fine; it wasn't like you needed someone with you all the time. It wasn't like you couldn't get through the night.
Once they were gone, you made yourself some dinner and ate it while you stood at the kitchen counter. Occasionally you dropped some bites for Tramp who snapped them up out of the air before anything ever hit the ground.
"Don't tell your dad that this is the reason you beg at the table," you muttered as he sat next to your foot and wagged his tail wildly. Even the veterinarian didn't know exactly how old he was, but he still seemed like a puppy sometimes. You could already picture him and the baby playing together.
Your gaze caught on the newest set of ultrasound photos which you had stacked up at the end of the kitchen counter. The appointment with Dr. Morris made you cry afterwards, because Bradley wasn't there to gush over the baby. You drove his Bronco that day, and you sat quietly trying to compose yourself while enveloped in his smell. He had some older ultrasound images tucked in the sun visor, and you wanted him to see the new ones so badly, you ached.
"I'm going to get ready for bed," you groaned at Tramp even though it was still early. You took a bath with the floating thermometer Bradley bought for you to use while pregnant. You drank a can of ginger ale instead of your preferred pink champagne, and you listened to one of the playlists he made for you.
When you were climbing in bed, you took the note he left you from your nightstand. It was folded into a paper airplane that looked exactly like his tattoo. He'd even written Baby Girl on it like always. Very carefully, you unfolded it and read the short message that you already had memorized, because it just meant something more in his handwriting.
I love both of you so much, sometimes I feel like I'm dreaming. Nothing could be this good. There's no way I get to return home to everything I ever wanted. I don't know when I'll be back, so I need you to take care of yourself and the Nugget until I can take over my duties again. I won't be gone a minute longer than I need to be.
You shut your light off before your tears could fall, and Tramp snuggled in next to you. When you thought about Bradley, you pictured him in his bunk. Maybe he was alone. Maybe he was with Reuben. Maybe he was rooming with a different officer. But it didn't matter, because you could easily imagine him practically spilling out of the narrow bed, one knee bent with the pink and blue notebook propped up while he wrote to the baby.
When your phone started ringing in the pitch darkness, you jumped, practically falling out of bed as you reached for your lamp and phone at the same time. It was a FaceTime call. It said restricted caller. You screeched his name, far too loud for your voice which has been resting just seconds ago. You shoved your glasses into place so you could see him, and shouted, "Bradley! Roo! Are you okay?"
"Hey, Baby Girl," he crooned, and his smiling face came into focus. You practically dropped your phone as he said, "I'm fine. Sorry it's so late."
You felt giddy laughter bubbling up inside you; the idea of your husband apologizing for calling and making your whole week was absurd. "No, no, no, this is perfect," you insisted. "This is great.
Bradley laughed and said, "I miss you so fucking much. Wish I was in bed right there with you."
"Me too," you replied. "It got chilly here tonight, and Tramp isn't as snuggly as you are." You missed his warmth and voice so much. It was almost Halloween, and the nights felt way too long.
His voice was just a whisper as he said, "Tell me about the Nugget."
Your smile felt overpowering. "Dr. Morris said the Nugget looked great when I was there two weeks ago."
"Two weeks ago," he groaned, rubbing his hands along his face. "Sweetheart... I already missed so much." When he looked at the screen again, you were out of bed and on the move. "Where are you going?"
You flipped on the hallway light and said, "To get the ultrasounds to show you. I left them on the kitchen counter."
You propped up your phone and held up one of the photos so he could see the baby. "There's my Nugget," he said, voice thick with emotion as you held up a second image. "Fucking cutest baby I've ever seen."
You couldn't help but laugh, feeling better than you had in weeks. "I liked this one the best. I think it looks like the baby is waving hello."
"Shit," he gasped. "You're right. I can't wait to wallpaper our bedroom with copies of these."
You pulled the ultrasound away and gasped, "You're probably not even joking."
"I'm definitely not even joking."
You leaned on the counter and got a little closer to your phone as you whispered, "Another week or so, and I can go in for an anatomy scan."
Now you felt guilty as he nodded with his lips pressed together. "You get to find out if the Nugget is a boy or a girl."
Tears stung your eyes. You could already imagine him holding the baby in his arms, loving him or her no matter what. "Yeah," you said with a nod. "But I don't really want to do that without you there too."
It took him a moment to respond. "I wish I could get home in time to hold your hand and find out in person. But you know I don't care one way or the other. The only nice thing is that we can start narrowing down baby names soon. I actually wrote down a few that I kind of like in the Nugget notebook earlier."
Your heart swelled. "I can't wait to read all of your notebook entries. And if you're not home for my next appointment, I'll be practically vibrating with anticipation until I get to tell you if it's a boy Nugget or a girl Nugget."
You wanted to show him how your belly looked more curvy now, but when you and he both parted your lips to speak, you heard someone shouting in the same room as him on the aircraft carrier. Now your husband wasn't looking at you at all.
"Bradshaw! It's time. Get into your flight suit."
"Yes, Sir," Bradley said before glancing back down.
"You have to go," you sobbed, unaware that you were actually crying until you heard yourself.
"I do," he said quickly. "Right now. Listen, I love you. More than anything. You and the baby both, okay? I love you."
"I love you, too," you sobbed as your lips trembled. "So much."
"I'll be home soon," he told you earnestly. "I love you."
Then you were standing alone in your kitchen at 4:48 in the morning with tears streaming down your face. The abrupt end to the call set your nerves on edge just seconds after you had been feeling so good. You gripped the edge of your kitchen counter; that wasn't a regular call to order, that was the start of his mission you just witnessed.
There was no chance of you falling asleep again, so you let yourself cry while Tramp put his head down on your bare foot and licked your ankle.
-------------------------------------
Halloween came, and you could barely manage to give out candy to the neighborhood kids. You'd had Bradley with you for the previous two Halloween nights in a row, and this year you didn't even want to buy a costume without him. You were exactly twenty weeks along, approximately halfway through your pregnancy, but it was hard to be excited even as groups of kids ran up and down the sidewalk.
You sat on your porch and dropped goodie bags into pillowcases and plastic pumpkins while Tramp barked inside the house. You commented on all of the cute costumes. You cried a little bit. Your emotions were all over the place as you tried to imagine what it might be like going out to collect candy a year from now with your baby in a tiny costume.
When the trick-or-treating ended, you went inside and opened a miniature sized Hershey bar for yourself, and then you almost screamed. The chocolate fell to the floor as you reached for your belly. Tramp looked between you and the fallen treat as you sank down onto your knees.
"Oh my God," you gasped, eyes squeezed shut tight. You could feel the baby moving. It was kind of a wild fluttering sensation. You rubbed your palm against your shirt a little more, and the slight movement felt like a response. Your baby was right there. "Hi, little Nugget." Then you felt something like a soft thump.
You wished more than anything that Bradley was here to witness it. He was going to absolutely freak out when he got home. Then the intrusive thoughts arrived. If he got home. It had been another week and a half since that FaceTime call where he got cut off by a commanding officer. If his mission was completed, he should have called you back by now. But at least you didn't have a fleet admiral dialing your number.
You didn't move for a long time, not until the baby seemed to get into a cozy position where the movement slowed down and then stopped. When Tramp started sniffing around the candy bar, you crawled over to it and picked it up before he could get any ideas.
Time was simultaneously at a standstill and also moving too fast. In four weeks, it would be Thanksgiving and your first wedding anniversary. You'd been holding off making plans with your parents, because you didn't know what to do. You were already overdue for your anatomy scan, dodging phone calls from Dr. Morris's office when they told you that you absolutely needed to come in for your checkup. They were starting to leave you lengthy messages about how they needed to complete the full scan to be sure there were no underlying issues.
As you walked to your bedroom, you promised yourself you'd call tomorrow and schedule an appointment. Bradley would miss finding out if the Nugget was a boy or girl, but at least you'd get to see all ten fingers and all ten toes for the first time. You could reveal the news to Bradley when you got to talk to him. You would go to your appointment, because he trusted you to take care of yourself and the baby the best that you could.
------------------------------
The cafeteria was packed when you walked in with your uniform shirt untucked and your pants unbuttoned. You finally caved and ordered a maternity uniform last week, and Bickel let you cry in his office about how ugly it was before he sent you back to the lab. It should be arriving any day, but for now, you were making do.
When Nat saw you, she was on her feet heading your way immediately. "Your belly looks bigger!" she gasped, pulling you toward the table where she was sitting with Bob and Maria. "When's Rooster coming home?"
You shrugged miserably. "You think I know? I just work here."
Her laughter made you smile for the first time all day. Your nausea was back a little bit, and you were too afraid to even try to eat anything until you got home later tonight. When Nat scooted her tray closer to the edge of the table to make room for you, she asked, "Where's your lunch?"
You didn't want to lie, but you really didn't want them to pressure you to eat right now. "I think I'll just take something back upstairs with me." As you slid onto the empty spot on the bench, you asked, "Do you know if anyone has heard from Payback?"
You were met with shaking heads which didn't help your mood at all. What the hell was going on with this mission? Your tongue felt too thick, and your saliva practically made you gag as Bob said, "I thought they would have been home by now. Five weeks is a long time for a special mission."
Maria elbowed him in the side, but it's not like he was saying anything you weren't already thinking. This sickening feeling had been inside you for days where you were convinced something went wrong. You just couldn't fathom why you hadn't received a call yet.
"I know," you muttered. "It's okay." But you weren't actually sure if it was or not. It has been months since you had a panic attack where you had to spend a few hours with Dr. Genevieve, but you could feel it building up now. Worrying about Bradley and yourself and the baby all at the same time was mentally and emotionally exhausting.
You pretended to pick up a sandwich before heading toward the elevators in the lobby, and you stopped to throw up in the bathroom before you made it back to your office. Your anatomy scan was scheduled for Friday, almost three weeks after they originally wanted you to come in. If you were still feeling this anxious, you'd block off part of your schedule next week to visit Dr. Genevieve again.
Somehow, even though the only thing on your mind was talking to Bradley, you were shocked when your phone woke you up just before midnight on Wednesday evening. This time you rocketed to your feet as you yanked your phone free from the charger. It wasn't a FaceTime call. It said RESTRICTED CALLER. You braced your hand on your nightstand in the dark, and when you answered, you knew immediately that it wasn't your husband on the other end of the call.
"Hello? I'm calling on behalf of Lieutenant Commander Bradley Bradshaw," came a male voice in response, and then he was asking you to confirm your personal information.
"What happened?" you gasped once he established that you really were the one and only person on Bradley's contact list. "What happened to him?"
There was a soft hum from the man, and you wanted to jump through the phone and strangle him for his lack of response. Then, as you finally managed to turn on your lamp, he said, "It looks like his flight just took off out of Hong Kong."
"Flight?" you gasped. "He's in the air?"
"Yes. A commercial flight into San Diego. He should arrive Friday morning, and I can give you the details now so someone can arrange for a ride for him."
You were baffled as to why Bradley didn't call you himself, but if he was on his way home, you didn't care. And you weren't going to arrange for a ride for him. You were going to pick him up yourself. When you grabbed a pen from your nightstand, the only paper you could find was the love note he left for you, so you started writing the flight number on your arm instead. Then you gasped and almost dropped the phone when you ended the call. There was the slightest chance he would be back in time!
---------------------------
Bradley was exhausted. He knew he could sleep for two days, no problem. He would land in San Diego and hope you were there to get him, then he'd ask you if the baby was a boy or a girl, then he'd take you home and make love to you before falling the fuck asleep. He really wanted to start building the jungle gym playset, but that was just going to have to wait for another day.
It was Friday, or at least that's what he thought, and he wasn't sure how busy you had been at work, because he hadn't spoken to you in weeks. Maybe Bickel let you take the morning off. If Bradley didn't get to see you in baggage claim like he always had before, he was going to be so annoyed that he was delayed weeks longer than he should have been. This mission turned into a three part nightmare on the high seas, and all he wanted was his wife and his Nugget.
When his flight landed, he was up and out of his seat, ready to go. Of course he ended up lifting down carryon bags for a few older passengers and one woman who had two kids with her. Of course he knelt down to help someone find their reading glasses. But all he wanted was for this line of people to move it off the aircraft so he could get into the terminal and call you.
When you answered on the second ring, shouting his name into the phone, he couldn't help but smile. "I just landed, Sweetheart. Does that mean you're here to get me?"
"Yes! I'm in baggage claim! Hurry up!"
His whole body thrummed with need as he picked up his pace at the confirmation that you were here for him. "I'm coming as fast as I can," he promised, squeezing between two groups of people walking way too slowly. He wanted to know if you took the day off. There were a hundred questions circling his brain, but the first one that he needed an answer to was, "How's my Nugget?"
He could hear the smile in your voice as you said, "Your little Nugget is thriving, Roo. But get over here and see for yourself!"
"Baby Girl," he laughed, jogging a little faster. "I'm coming."
"Hurry," you whined, and he needed to give you what you wanted.
He bypassed the crowded escalator and took the stairs as quickly as he could, skidding around a corner as he turned toward baggage claim. "Almost there," he panted into the phone. And then he saw you and groaned, "Fuck," loud enough that a few people shot him nasty looks. "Holy shit, Sweetheart."
Bradley ended the call as you glanced around, and he stumbled when you finally spotted him. You were wearing a new dress. It was a pretty shade of green, and it was snug, hugging all of your curves. Hugging your bump. You had a bump. You looked so obviously pregnant to him, he was ready to crawl on his hands and knees and beg at your feet.... for what, he wasn't sure. But that's what his brain was barking at him to do right now.
"Roo!" you called out, prancing toward him in that tight dress and your boat shoes, and literally nothing felt better than being with you. As soon as you were in his arms, he was home. "Bradley," you moaned against his lips as his hands found your sides. You felt different in the best possible way. The swell of your belly wasn't huge yet, but it was definitely there. He could feel it. His growing baby.
God, you were kissing him just right, fingers threading through his hair as you rubbed yourself against him. "Jesus," he groaned into your mouth, but you kissed it away as he ran his hands along as much of your middle as he could reach. He couldn't help it; when you eventually broke the kiss to take a breath, he dropped to his knees in front of you.
Your fingers were still in his hair as you looked down at him in surprise. "Roo?"
He was kissing along that green fabric and rubbing his nose against that perfect, little bump. He knew you were twenty-two weeks along, and he knew what that meant. "Please, tell me," he rasped, stroking you gently with his thumb. "Please, Sweetheart. Is it a girl or a boy?"
Your softly parted lips and smile had all of his focus as he waited to hear you tell him what he'd been dying to know. "Oh," you whispered, pushing your fingers through his hair, leaving him in anticipation as your fingertips glided down his cheek. "I don't know yet."
"You don't?" he asked, brow creased in concern. But you just kept smiling as his heart pounded. "You don't know?"
"Nope," you replied easily. "My appointment is in an hour."
Bradley rocketed to his feet. "Are you serious?" he whispered, his voice a little harsh. "I didn't miss it?"
You kissed him softly as he collected you back in his arms. "You didn't miss it, Roo. I postponed it as long as I could. You're just in time."
"Hell yes!" he whooped, pumping one fist in the air as you giggled. "You waited for Daddy," he said, smiling down at your belly as he slowly walked you backwards. "That's my Nugget." You were looking up at him with trusting eyes as he pushed you back against a pillar next to the baggage carousel. "You said we have an hour?"
"Yes."
"Good," he murmured before his lips found yours, and his hands continued their excited exploration of your new curves.

Can’t Help Falling In Love - Bradley Bradshaw x Reader
Tumblr media
summary: -> When your newborn daughter can't sleep one night, Bradley knows just what to do.
A/N: Here’s a little blurb I did for @ohtobeleah’s Galentine’s Day challenge 🩷 This song is one that I sang/sing to my own baby, so I felt really inspired to just write some wholesome fluff with Bradley as a new dad singing it to his baby, and his wife 🩷
pairing: Bradley Bradshaw x fem! reader
warnings/content: sickly sweet fluff with Bradley as a new dad and being romantic.
word count: 1k
Tumblr media
“Shall I stay, would it be a sin, if I can’t help falling in love with you?”
You padded down the hallway to where the sound of your husband’s soft, melodic voice was echoing from. You entered your infant daughter’s room and smiled softly as you saw Bradley cradling baby Sawyer in his arms, humming softly to her as he kissed her head. You stood in the doorway, leaning against the wooden frame as you looked on, Bradley none the wiser as you watched him comfort your baby.
“Take my hand, take my whole life too, for I can’t help falling in love with you.”
Bradley shut his eyes delicately as he held Sawyer’s tiny body close to his chest, continuing to hum the notes of his favorite Elvis song in a soft, hushed tone as he rocked back and forth in an effort to lull his sweet girl to sleep. Bradley turned towards the door and opened his eyes to see you. His expression softened, melting into a sweet, content smile, his amber coloured eyes gazing at you from behind his thick, dark eyelashes that you’d always been envious of.
“Hi honey, sorry, Sawyer didn’t wanna go down, was just tryin’ to sing her to sleep. My mom used to sing this to me when I was a kid, she always swore it worked. Guess my dad used to sing it too,” Bradley huffed a soft, melancholic sigh as he thought back to his own father and how he had so little to remember him by, having passed just a month after Bradley turned two.
“It was sweet, I love hearing you sing,” you murmured quietly as you cozied up to Bradley’s side, smiling softly while you pressed your lips against his cheek in a tender, loving kiss.
“I think Sawyer likes hearing me too, she settled right down while I was singing to her.”
“That’s because you’re soothing her. She loves you and loves the sound of your voice, feeling you hold her close, it makes her feel safe.”
“It does?”
“Mhmm, you bet it does.”
Bradley smiled proudly as he glanced over at you, still hugging Sawyer close to his bare chest. Stroking her back gently, he pressed his lips to her forehead once again, gently kissing her as she snored softly. His pajama pants hung low on his waist, his toned, tan skin dotted with freckles. He never slept with a t-shirt on to begin with, but the minute he read that letting a newborn sleep on your bare chest was beneficial to the baby, he started to forgo wearing one at home at all. He dove all in, head first, the moment he found out you were pregnant, determined to be the kind of father his dad would be proud of, the kind of father his dad would have been if he’d had a chance to do it for more than two years.
Baby and parenting books had begun appearing throughout your home shortly after you’d told him, multiplying slowly, one by one as they began to collect on the shelf, magazines about raising children suddenly coming in the form of subscriptions to your door on a monthly basis. Bradley had begun coming home from a day of training, spouting off new ideas for names, suggesting whatever he heard or came across that day. He was as involved as anyone could hope for, his determination to be someone who made you proud, made his baby proud, and would have made his parents proud serving as a driving force to motivate him. On one occasion, you came home from spending a day out in the city to find every piece of nursery furniture perfectly assembled, waiting for your direction as to where you wanted it placed. As nervous as Bradley was about making you proud, there was never a single doubt in your mind about it - he was meant to be an excellent father, just like he was meant to be an excellent pilot. It was just who he was.
Bradley gently laid Sawyer down to sleep in her crib, smiling down at her as she stirred for a second, holding his breath as he hoped she stayed sleeping. As she continued to snore softly, he exhaled, relieved she was still sound asleep. He wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling your body in close to his as you both watched Sawyer in complete awe, almost unable to believe something so small and sweet could have come from either of you.
“Now, Mrs. Bradshaw, we’ve forgotten something important about today,” he whispered softly, stroking your hair as he tucked it behind your ear, his touch delicate and gentle.
“Hmm?”
“Valentine’s Day. We forgot it. I didn’t even remember to bring flowers home for you.”
“We did? Are you sure?”
“Positive. February 14th.”
You stifled a laugh as you shook your head, smiling at Bradley as he showed you today’s date on his phone screen. He kissed your forehead gently, his lips hovering for a moment as he hummed.
“I’ll make it up to you.”
“There’s no need. Sawyer’s a pretty great Valentine’s Day gift.”
“She’s two months old, hun, I don’t think you having our baby counts as your gift.”
“Sure she does. You just gave her to me a little early.”
“More like you gave her to me. I didn’t do much.”
You extended your hand out to stroke Bradley’s cheek fondly, beaming as your eyes met his.
“You gave me her. Without you, I wouldn’t have Sawyer. And I wouldn’t have a loving, wonderful husband either. And, I wouldn’t get to hear you sing all the time.”
“Oh, you like the singing?” Bradley smirked, playfully whispering as he led you out of the room, pulling the door closed quietly behind you.
“I do, in fact.”
“Well then, honey—“ Bradley began before taking a breath and beginning to sing once more.
“Wise men say, ‘only fools rush in’, but I can’t help, falling in love with you.”

One Man’s Loss is Another Man’s Gain
Title: One Man’s Loss is Another Man’s Gain
Pairing: Jake Seresin x Wife Reader
Warnings: Language, Fluff, Bradley being put in his place, Protective Jake
Summary: When the best pilots in the navy get called back to Top Gun for a special detachment and it’s learned that Pete Maverick Mitchell is the instructor Bradley Bradshaw looks forward to seeing his old crush again so he can finally confess his feelings, Y/N Mitchell. Too bad Jake Seresin already swept her off her feet and made her Mrs. Seresin.
Requested: Yes!
Tumblr media
When you first heard about this special suicide mission it’s safe to say you were terrified for your husband and father. You and Jake had been married for around 3 years now and you’re currently 7 months pregnant with your first child. The idea of being left a widow killing you inside, but not as much as the chance of your son growing up without his father.
You and your father Pete Mitchell have a strong relationship, he was the only constant in your life for a long time after your mother abandoned you on his doorstep. Growing up you and your dad spent a lot of time with Carole and Bradley, Goose passed away 3 years before you were born and Carole and Pete sometimes joked that Goose sent you to them because he knew they needed you.
Carole was the only mother figure you ever had in your life and when she passed away when you were 16 it rocked your whole world, as far as you were concerned she helped raise you and you loved her like a daughter loves her mother.
Bradley. He was a different story, though you’re 6 years younger than him you two grew up as best friends. He was your first crush when you turned 13 and actually noticed how cute he was, but he was in college then and was always going out to parties with college girls, so you never saw him much. When you were 15 you finally realized how dumb your crush was, he was 21 and you were still basically a child playing softball and hanging out with your friends at the movies and the beach. For your own sanity you let the crush go and just focused on being happy to see him when he came home on breaks.
One day everything changed though. Bradley had written you off completely out of the blue, you tried getting in touch with him but your calls wouldn’t go through, you even tried the old fashioned way and sent him a few letters but never got a response. You tried asking your dad what happened but he refused to give you any details. As much as it hurt, you refused to let yourself feel bad and reach out over and over again when you got nothing in return. So you just stopped trying.
You went to college at UCLA where you played softball all four years and got your teaching degree in elementary education, you moved back home to North Beach where you got a job as a 1st grade teacher at Miramar Elementary School on base, thanks to a few strings pulled by your Uncle Ice to insure you’d be close to home.
You met Jake at the hard deck when you were 23 and he was 26, you had gone out to spend some time with Penny and your dad had just gotten back from a deployment so you all were celebrating. Jake had just graduated from Top Gun at the top of his class and came out with a few of his fellow graduates to celebrate. When you two locked eyes the attraction was instant.
Jake spent almost a month trying to get you to go out with him, you had heard of Jake Hangman Seresin’s reputation from your dad who heard it from Uncle Ice. So you wanted to play hard to get and make sure he actually wanted to be with you and not just get into your pants. He proved himself though when he took you out for a picnic on the beach followed up by a walk on the board walk with some ice cream.
You two dated for around 3 years before getting married, you had a small intimate ceremony with just your family and a few close friends. You two lived in a old fashioned farm house and turned it into your dream house, about a year into your marriage you adopted a golden retriever puppy from the pound named Lady and a tabby cat named Wendy and you two were fine with just being animal parents for a little while.
You spent these last 3 years of marriage building your family home. You and Jake decided to live permanently in San Diego regardless of his deployments. Jake worked as hard as he could for the Navy making a name for himself, while you worked just as hard at your teaching job welcoming kids into your class year after year who left feeling like your very own children. Maverick has his hangar around 20 minutes away from your house and you all have Sunday dinners every week without fail.
When you found out you were pregnant you were surprised but nonetheless thrilled, sure you two weren’t actively trying for a baby but you weren’t really doing anything to avoid pregnancy either. You immediately went to the doctor and got checked out learning that you were 8 weeks pregnant and left with a wide smile and some ultrasound pictures. When Maverick found out he was going to be a grandpa he just about passed out from excitement. But nothing beats Jake’s reaction when he found out he was going to be a father.
You had been anxiously waiting for Jake to get back from training, you found out about the pregnancy around a week ago and you were dying to tell your husband but wanted it to be memorable.
You brainstormed and then remembered the two things he loved almost as much as you. Your animals. You’ve seen other people use their animals as a pregnancy announcement and knew that this was the way to go.
You ordered Lady a thin sweater that read “Big Sister” and Wendy a collar that had baby booties on it since you knew better than to try to put your cat into a sweater, learning from past mistakes. You also found three of the cutest onesies at target, one read “my best friend’s have paws” the second one read “my daddy is a pilot” and the last one read “I love mommy and daddy”. You of course had to get all three, and you wanted to make a box to put them in so you got your pregnancy test and ultrasound picture and put it in the box on top of the folded onesies.
Jake is suppose to be home at 7 and it’s currently 6:50, you felt butterflies in your stomach as you sat on the couch with Wendy resting on the back of the couch near your shoulder and Lady laying across your lap asleep, with the box laying on the coffee table. You were excited but nervous about Jake’s reaction, you knew regardless he would be excited but you may have to scoop his unconscious form off the floor before the excitement hits him.
Before you could think much longer the door opened and both animals lifted their heads to look towards the door as Jake stepped inside. You quickly grabbed your phone and pressed record , wanting to get his reaction on video before urging Lady off your lap.
“Hey baby! How was your day?” You asked standing up
“It was something. I’m just glad to be home with my girls.” Jake smiled setting his bag down at the front door.
“We’re glad your home too. I have a surprise for you.” You smiled making Jake cock his brow
“What? It’s not my birthday, it’s not our anniversary, I didn’t get you anything.” Jake stressed making you chuckle
“This is for me too. Lady go see daddy!” You nudged Lady in Jake’s direction and the dog immediately stumbled towards Jake who squatted down with open arms while he was distracted by the dog you grabbed the box and held it patiently
“Lady girl! There’s my girl! What does mommy have you wearing? What is this?” Jake asked in a baby voice making you smile as he gripped the fabric to try and read it, Wendy had made her way over to the two and was rubbing her head against Jake’s leg purring. “Big Sister?”
You could see the gears in Jake’s head turning as he stared at the sweater before looking down at Wendy’s collar, his head snapped up towards you with wide glossy eyes.
“Baby? Is this what I think it is? Are you pregnant? Am I going to be a dad?” Jake asked slowly standing to his feet
“Open the box.” You smiled feeling tears burn in your eyes as you handed him the box. “Daddy.”
“Oh my god.” Jake mumbled as he looked at the contents of the box. “Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh baby!”
Jake carefully but quickly sat the box down on the ground before pulling you into his arms making you laugh tearfully as he spun you around.
“Oh my god! We’re having a baby! We’re having a baby! There is actually a baby inside of you right now!” Jake exclaimed cupping your face as your tears spilled over. “I love you so much. This is so perfect, I love you.”
“I love you too.” You smiled pulling him into a kiss
Jake has doted on you your whole pregnancy, he’s been to every doctor’s appointment, any craving you have he’s out the door to get it, any ache or pain he’s giving you a entire body massage, when your hormones are too much he holds you tight and litters your face with kisses, and pregnancy sex is out of this world.
You’d just hit your 7 month mark and felt like a whale, your ankles were swollen, your back always aches, your breasts are sore and tender, and you officially can’t stand or walk without supporting your bump because it feels like the weight of your bump is going to send you to the floor. You had recently just had a small gender reveal with your dad and some of Jake’s family and learned that you were having a little boy.
Jake has been busy training for the mission and your dad has been busy being the instructor for the mission, which has led to some long days and nights with Lady and Wendy as your company. You had heard from Jake’s nightly complaining that your estranged best friend Bradley Bradshaw is back for the mission and of course they’ve been butting heads, Jake is fiercely protective of you and after learning how hurt you were when Bradley tossed you to the side Jake made it his personal mission to be the biggest ass to him he could be.
Your dad had called you and told you about the fight between Jake and Bradley and how your name had been brought up, and that Jake bragged about how you were his. You smacked Jake on the head that night but quickly got over it when he brought up the idea of a hot bath and a back rub.
Today Penny had practically begged you to come see her, she was your favorite of all your dads conquests growing up and have always kept in touch she was more your mother than your actual mother. You hesitantly said yes, not really feeling like leaving the comfort of your bed but wanting to spend some time with her.
You took a shower and washed your hair and body, since your pregnancy makes you feel sweaty and disgusting at every moment a shower did you some good. You were feeling more energized after your shower so you even did your makeup routine and did a cute braid in your hair. You got dressed in a flowered blue sundress and some sandals and put your regular jewelry on, barley managing to get your wedding band on your swollen finger.
Since Penny loves Lady you decided to bring her with you, and Jake’s been training her since the beginning of your pregnancy to be your watch dog, a job that Lady takes very seriously. You got her in her harness and leash before grabbing your purse and keys and walking out to your white Rang Rover. You opened the passengers side door and patted the seat.
“Up Lady! Good girl!” You smiled giving her a treat and kissing the top of her head securing the leash to the seatbelt before closing the door and walking around to the drivers side.
You drove towards the hard deck with with windows down bobbing your head to your Taylor Swift playlist, the breeze blowing some of your flyaways into your lipgloss.
When you pulled into the hard deck you furrowed your brows when you saw both your dads bike and Jake’s truck in the parking lot. You got out of the car and walked around grabbing Lady’s leash and getting her out of the car before you two walked inside.
“Pen! Penny!” You called out seeing the bar empty
“Out here!” Penny called from the back deck
Lady jerked on the leash at Penny’s voice and you chuckled lightly before dropping the leash letting the energetic dog run out the back door.
“Lady!” Penny exclaimed as you walked outside seeing the golden retriever giving the woman some love. “Hey sweetheart, how you feelin?”
“Pregnant. Very pregnant.” You chuckled taking a seat beside her. “Whatcha doing out here?”
“Just taking in the view.” Penny smirked and you furrowed your brows before following her gaze to see the aviators on the beach playing football
“Oh. That’s why dad and Jake’s bike and truck are out front. I thought they snuck away to day drink.” You said making Penny chuckle
“Nope. They’ve been at it for about an hour. Jake’s already laid Rooster out twice.” Penny raised her brow and you chuckled
“That man. I told him not to be a dick, I swear he holds a grudge worse than any woman I’ve ever met.” You shook your head playing your hands on your swollen belly. “Your daddy’s a little bit of a drama Queen.”
Penny chuckled and turned her head back to the team of aviators and smiled when she saw them walking towards them.
“Looks like they’re heading this way.” Penny nudged your shoulder making you look up
Lady perked up when she first caught sight of Maverick, the dog stumbled in the sand towards him. Maverick smiled and crouched down allowing the dog to run into his embrace, licking his face in greeting.
“Lady girl! You’ve gotten so big in the last week, you just keep on growing.” Maverick smiled rubbing the dogs head
You got up with Penny’s help and walked onto the beach towards your dad, you saw Jake still down by the water with a few other pilots so you figured you’d make your way down to him.
“Hey dad.” You smiled as you walked over to him, Lady coming right back to your side
“Hey kiddo. How’s my grandson?” Maverick asked giving you a hug and kissing your forehead
“He’s being pretty lazy today, he hasn’t moved around much and when I pressed around to try to get him to move he just gave me one big kick basically telling me to shut up.” You chuckled rubbing your belly where your baby had just given you a kick, probably knowing you were talking about him
“It’s those Mitchell genes, he’s gonna be a stubborn one.” Maverick smiled gently patting your stomach
“God help us.” You shook your head. “How’s training going? I hope Jake isn’t being too much trouble.”
“It’s going. Jake’s being Jake. He’s definitely giving Bradley a hard time.” Maverick said
Jake was the one who put you back together, when you met you had some serious trust issues and were battling some depression as well. Even before you finally agreed to date him, Jake was always protective of you and when you finally opened up and let him in he swore no one was ever going to hurt you again.
“He’s just protective, you know that.” You sighed and Maverick nodded
“I know. I’m glad he looks out for you.” Maverick said looking slightly over your shoulder making you smirk
“You know, she still loves you.” You said making him snap his gaze back to you
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Maverick shook his head and you chuckled
“She’s been like my mother my whole life. I wish you’d make it official.” You said kissing his cheek before making your way towards Jake
“Y/N?” A voice asked from behind you making you pause, you knew that voice it’s one you’d never be able to forget no matter how hard you tried
You slowly turned around and saw Bradley standing in front of you, he was wearing his dads old aviators and some cut off jean shorts without a shirt. He’s grown up since you saw him last, now sporting the mustache that looked so much like Goose’s.
“Bradley.” You nodded managing a small smile, you felt Lady settle herself right on your side nearly sitting on your foot in a protective position
“Look. I don’t want any trouble. I know I screwed up so bad, cutting you out of my life was one of the dumbest things I’ve ever done. I was just so mad about what had happened that I didn’t even think that you might not of known about it I just decided that you had just as much to do with it as Mav and that was the end of it. You didn’t deserve that, I know that now.” Bradley sighed sadly looking down at your bump that you were cradling
“You’re right. I didn’t deserve that. I loved you Bradley, I honestly thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with you. You were my best friend and I know you were going through a rough time losing Carole and then your papers. But I lost her too, she was the closest thing I had to a mom and I loved her so much. I was grieving and then I lost you too.” You paused to clear your throat. “I don’t know. Maybe if you had stuck around I never would’ve met Jake, and I wouldn’t trade him and our life together for the world. I don’t want to bring my son into the world with any hard feelings, I don’t want any grudges to be passed down to him. So, I am willing to try and move past this. You were family once Brad, I think that maybe we could be that again.”
Bradley cleared his throat and looked away before looking back towards you.
“I would really like that. I’m happy for you kid, as much as I hate to say it I’m glad that you have Jake and happy that you found someone who will love and take care of you. I will spend the rest of my life trying to make this right, I promise.” Bradley said and you nodded reaching down to pet Lady when she nudged your leg
“I think we can do that.” You smiled softly one that Bradley mirrored
“Congratulations. I remember how you always talked about being a mom.” Bradley said gesturing to your stomach
“Thank you. It’s a little boy.” You smiled adoringly down at your stomach
Before anything else could be said, a familiar presence was felt behind you before arms wrapped around your waist and gently cupped your stomach pulling you back into a warm firm chest.
“Everything good here?” Jake asked leaning down to kiss the spot right under your ear
“Everything’s fine.” You nodded towards Bradley who nodded in agreement
“Yeah. Uh, congrats on the baby.” Bradley told Jake who nodded
“Thanks.” Jake said before taking Lady’s leash from your hands. “Want to get some food?”
“Yes. I’m starving.” You said and Jake chuckled taking your hand into his
“Let’s go then, I’m sure Penny would make you that burger you love.” Jake said pulling you towards the hard deck
“I’ll see you around.” You told Bradley who nodded watching as you left with Jake’s arm now wrapped around your waist
Bradley watched Jake lean down to kiss your forehead gently as he led you and your dog back towards the hard deck where everyone else was standing around the back deck talking. He watched your smile as you talked to Phoenix and Bob and as you were introduced to everyone else. He smiled softly, he fully expected to be filled with jealousy when he saw you and Jake together.
But seeing how happy you were, your bright smile and sparkling eyes as you cling to Jake’s side. You deserve the world and if Jake can give it to you then that’s enough for him.

Newborn Days
Bradley Bradshaw x Reader
Moments with his wife and newborn son
Tumblr media
Bradley looks out through the window in front of him, sat upright in the bed, back against the headboard as he watches the sunrise. The two of you had booked a small cabin on the beach for a few weeks, just while you got your feet here in Miramar. Bradley’s grasp held you closer, he drew his eyes away from the growing horizon and down to where you were sat in his lap. Your head was dipped as you allowed your little baby boy to have his breakfast; eyes closed while he nursed gently on your swollen nipple. Bradley’s heart swelled with love as your tired eyes looked back at him, rocking gently to soothe your new son. He offered a small, loving smile as he leant to kiss your forehead.
He could get used to this.

warnings- mentions of pregnancy/being pregnant, vomit/throwing up, like one f bomb, established relationship, i dont think anything else
a/n- reader is a pilot lol. hope you all like it and send me any requests you wanna see!!!!
You were tired of vomit. Tired of the smell, tired of the nausea, and tired of the harsh sting it was leaving in the back of your throat. The past three days you had been pulled to consciousness by your uneasy stomach and ended up over the toilet as your alarm blared from the bedroom.
Bradley has had to leave for training extremely early this week and luckily has missed your ugly morning wake-up call. You’d been subtly avoiding his concerns at work; when you looked queasy after conditioning, when Jake’s body wash scent made you gag, and when you barely touched the coffee he brought you one morning. You played it off as a stomach bug, but your intuition was telling you something completely different.
Thankfully this week had been a zero flight week. You were terrified of flying if your suspicions were accurate, but you were also too scared to take the damn pregnancy test.
As you walked down the hall Friday afternoon, doing your best to avoid everyone, you made a pact with yourself that you would stop by the convenience store tonight. Bradley was staying late to help with new flight curriculum so you’d have the opportunity to do it alone.
Part of you wanted to share this moment with him, but your fear quickly overrode that. You and Bradley had been together for years at this point, ever since your first run at Top Gun. He’s mentioned kids a couple times, but never seriously. Deep down you knew he would accept this and be 100% in it, but your anxiety was on blast and your logical thoughts were nowhere to be found.
You were supposed to be heading to a group meeting, all Dagger Squad members present. Your nausea has been steady all day, and hasn't eased up since you puked your guts up first thing. It’s been miserable and your sweaty, pale complexion are a testament to that. You’re trying your best to take deep breaths as you walk through the humid hallway, but your stomach lurches anyway. You grip the wall nearest to you and clench your eyes shut.
Deep breaths. In and out. You wait for the pain to subside before you start walking again. You slowly enter the conference room, looking around. Last one here, great. You shoot a small smile in apology and head to the empty seat next to Bradley.
He gives you a quizzical look as Maverick begins a spiel about next week's itinerary.
“You okay?” He whispers, brown eyebrows pinched.
You inhale sharply and nod, reaching for his hand to squeeze in reassurance. He squeezes in return and tries his best to keep his attention on Mav, but your squirming is distracting. It’s too hot in this cramped office space. You swear you can feel each person’s body heat radiate off them, making your head spin.
Breaths. Deep freaking breaths. You’re trying to concentrate once again on your breathing as Phoenix asks a question, but everything is muffled and distant. You feel Bradley’s eyes seer into you and your jaw clenches unbearably tight.
This is not happening. You refuse. You’ve made it the whole week without getting sick at work, and you really don’t want your closest colleagues and friends to see you hurl in a tiny trash can. Bradley squeezes your hand tighter trying to grasp your attention, but you just stare ahead and will your body to stop.
Fuck. There’s definitely no stopping it. You shoot to your feet, pulling your hand from Bradley’s, drawing everyone’s attention. You briefly hear Mav ask if you’re alright and your hand quickly shoots to cover your mouth as you stumble to the trash can. Your stomach empties and you cough harshly, bent over the small container. You hear chairs screech and boots on the ground and soon feel a familiar hand slide up your back.
Bradley pulls your hair away from your face with his other hand and continues to rub your back, glancing around the room in concern. Phoenix and Bob shoot him sympathetic looks and Jake’s grimace is clear as day.
Mav makes his way over to you, cautiously, and shouts at Javy to get a medic. You raise your hand and wave at him, trying to refuse. You cough again, “I’m fine. I’m okay.”
“You just puked y/n.” Bradley states.
“I know, I know. I’m sorry- just I’m okay now.”
You slowly stand up and Bradley keeps his grip on you, moving you towards a seat. You glance up, cheeks flushing in embarrassment, and see the sympathetic looks sent your way. “Sorry,” You sigh.
Javy returns out of breath with the medic and you can’t help but roll your eyes. “Really, I’m fine.”
“Y/n I think you should go get checked out,” Maverick says, “Rooster, why don’t you go with her.” He nods his head towards the door and motions for you, Bradley, and the medic to leave the conference room.
Bradley keeps his grip on your elbow as you walk slowly toward the med bay. The medic is asking you basic questions that you are trying your best to answer as vaguely as possible. When you enter the med area you begrudgingly let the medic take your temperature and check your vitals.
“Everything looks okay. I’d just get some rest and head to urgent care if your symptoms get any worse.”
You’re grateful the medic didn’t mention pregnancy and you nod in appreciation as they exit the small exam area.
Bradley sighs and places his hands on his hips. “Let me take you home, honey. Get some sleep.”
You shake your head, “No Roo it’s okay, I promise. You have to stay late anyway.”
You’re avoiding his gaze as a lump forms in your throat. You’re not sure why you feel so emotional all of a sudden, but with barely any sleep and vomiting up everything you eat, you’re exhausted. You feel tears prick your waterline as Bradley steps closer to you.
He reaches up and cups your face. It wasn’t always like this. You and Rooster are both stubborn to an unhealthy degree, and when you two got off on the wrong foot all those years ago you never imagined this. He rubs his thumbs over your cheeks, examining you with his eyes.
“What’s going on? You’ve been off all week.” His voice is soft and it only makes you more emotional.
You close your eyes and feel the first tears escape down your face. “I think I’m pregnant.” You whisper.
You keep your eyes shut as you hear him inhale. He grips your face tighter, willing you to open your eyes. When you finally open them, he’s smiling.
“You’re pregnant?”
You shake your head, “I’m not sure yet. I haven’t taken a test yet, but I’ve been sick all week and I can’t remember when my last period was.” You sigh.
His smile only grows. Of course he would be excited. You’re not sure why you were convinced he would be pissed or upset. His reaction only makes you cry more and he tugs you closer into the warmth of his chest.
He presses a kiss to the top of your head and steps back, helping you off the exam bench. “Let's go home, yeah?” He asks.
You nod solemnly and thread your fingers through his, heading to the exit. Bradley lets Mav know you’re sick and he’s taking you home, planning to finish the flight course next week. He helps you into his Bronco and secures your seatbelt for you. He kisses you lightly before closing the door and heading around the car.
On the way back to your shared place he detours to the nearest convenience store and parks out front. Turning to you he says, “I’m gonna run in and grab a few tests. Do you want to come in?”
You shake your head and lean back against the seat letting it absorb your exhaustion. He’s quick inside and jogs back out to the car with a full bag.
“I didn’t know which one to get so I just grabbed a bunch.” He pulls a few out to show you and you laugh at his eagerness.
He smiles at you and places the bag in the back seat, squeezing your knee as he starts the car again.
He turns the radio on low as you watch your surroundings pass by. You don’t know how to feel about all this. Are you even ready to be a mom? You glance at Bradley and take in his tanned skin and light blush covering his nose and ears. He’d be a great dad, you already know it.
You try to shake off some of your anxiety as you head inside. Bradley pulls you close and squeezes your arm, sending you a reassuring smile. You exhale and turn to him, “Will you take it with me?”
“Of course.” He nods and rubs your arm gently.
You head towards the bathroom with the bag full of tests and Bradley fills a cup of water for you. You’re examining all the different tests when he enters and comes up behind you. He rests his head on your shoulder and reads the boxes with you.
You grab the test with the electronic Pregnant or Not Pregnant answer and a generic 2 line test as well. Bradley sits with you the whole time anxiously squeezing any part of you he can touch. You place the tests near the sink and set a timer on your phone.
You both sit in a comfortable yet tense silence. You can tell Bradley is more excited than you are but he’s doing his best to keep himself calm. The phone rings cutting off your anxious thoughts and you both stand together to look at the results.
You grab the line test first seeing two very visible solid lines. You quickly grab the other which coincides with a bold Pregnant flashing at you. You close your eyes and pass the test to Bradley, feeling the waterworks begin.
He gasps slightly and puts the test back on the counter. He laughs as he turns you to face him, “Hey, hey it’s okay. Everythings gonna be fine,” You can hear the smile in his voice as your tears fall faster.
“We’ll figure it out, okay? Hey, look at me.” He cups your face again, your eyes opening to meet his.
“We’re gonna figure it out.” His smile spreads, “We’re gonna be parents holy shit.” You laugh at his excitement and pull him into an embrace.
“We’re gonna be parents.” You mumble into his shirt.
The next morning you head to a local clinic just to get a medical test and see if everythings okay with the baby. You’re given the all clear and relative timeline of birth and growth and everything seems so surreal. Bradley is beyond excited and it’s starting to rub off on you. He spent the whole night reassuring you and brainstorming possible names.
The doctor did let you know that flying is off limits. You feel a bit sad at the loss of flying, but know Mav will keep you busy in other ways. You keep reminding yourself this as you head to his office Monday morning. Bradley and you are hand in hand, him excited to break the news. You knock and hear a muffled “Come in” on the other side. You exhale and squeeze Bradley’s hand as you push the door open.
“Hey y/n, Bradley.” He nods. “Feeling better?” He places the paperwork he was looking at down and looks between you both.
You glance to Bradley who quickly nods his head, urging you on. “About that.” You turn back to Mav’s confused expression continuing, “Um, Bradley and I actually have something to tell you.”
Pete remains silent, questioning you both.
“I’m, uh, not gonna be able to fly for a while.”
His brows furrow, mouth opening to object, but you beat him to it.
“I’m pregnant.”
His mouth drops in shock and Bradley laughs at his expression.
“I- I mean wow. Holy shit!” He laughs. He stands and rounds the desk pulling you into a tight hug and then Bradley. He shakes Rooster’s shoulders as he pulls away and his face is ecstatic.
“I’ll be damned,” He looks between you both again and shakes his head. You glance at Bradley and smile.
Bradley’s grin is contagious and he shouts, “We’re gonna be parents!”

Ignorance Is Kind
Seven months ago Bradley Bradshaw attended a barbecue hosted by Jake Seresin. Seven months ago Bradley met a girl at said barbecue. Seven months ago Bradley railed her.
And here she was at Jakes next barbecue, even months pregnant.

"Come to my barbecue," Jake Seresin insisted as he spoke to his little sister on the phone. "You owe him that much."
From the other end of the phone, he heard her release a sigh. "Jake, c'mon," she said. "Leave it alone. If I wanted him to know, I would have told him," she muttered.
"You know I don't like him either," Jake replied. "But he deserves to know. Plus, I want to see you."
She couldn't admit that Jake was right. And still, some small part of her wanted to resist. "Fine," she finally agreed. "But just because I wanna see you, too."
Jake let out a cheer, one that had his sister laughing. "Brilliant," he said. "I'll go and get the spare room ready for you!"
"Jakey," she said before he put the phone down. "Can you get some pickles and potato chips?"
"Of course I can," Jake replied. "Anything else?"
"Maybe some ice cream?"
Jake let out a laugh. "I'll see you tomorrow," he said and got him ready to run out to the store.
***
The last time Bradley 'Rooster' Bradshaw had gone to one of Jake Seresin's barbecue, things hadn't gone too well. Or they'd gone exceptionally well, depending on who you ask.
Bradley hadn't expected to meet a pretty girl at Jakes barbecue. He hadn't expected to bump into somebody as he walked away from the drinks cooler, a beer in his hand. His free hand settled on her waist as he steadied her.
"You okay?" Bradley asked her, stooping ever so slightly to look into her eyes.
She nodded her head and swallowed. "Yeah, uhm, yes. Yeah, I'm fine," she said and offered him a sweet smile. Bradley didn't think he had ever seen something so sweet.
He hadn't meant to spend the entire barbecue chatting up Jake Seresin's little sister. In his defense, he didn't realise that she was Jake's sister. He got her drinks when she ran out and brought over a selection of food from the barbecue.
The thing about Bradley was that he was irresistibly charming. She held herself back for most of the barbecue, waiting until Jake found himself distracted by some pretty thing that 'wanted to see the way he grilled'.
And as soon as Jake was distracted, she slipped into Roosters lap and wrapped her arms around his neck. "I'm staying at Jakes tonight," she muttered and she slowly moved in his lap.
Even as disappointment crossed his face, Bradley kept a tight grip on her waist. He shifted slightly and her eyes closed as she let out a whimper. "I think you should come up to my room with me," she whispered as she buried her face against his neck, kissing and nipping at his skin.
Bradley couldn't stop the shiver from running down his spine. "Who are you?" He asked through a breath.
The way she moved against him now, her hands running through his hair, Bradley had to get her inside. He didn't care about who she might have been to Jake in that moment, he just wanted to be sliding his cock through her folds and watch as her eyes rolled back.
She hopped off of his lap. The sun was setting and Jakes guests were still eating, but neither of them cared much. If anybody noticed them sneaking into the house, they didn't say anything.
She led Bradley up to the spare bedroom. He'd stayed in it a few times before, but that wasn't what he was thinking about as she pushed the door shut and popped her the button on her shorts.
Bradley salivated as she walked towards, hips swaying from side to side. She pushed him back onto the bed. Bradley could have resisted, but he allowed himself to fall back onto the bed. His hands touched her sides, drifted beneath her shirt as she climbed on top of him and attached her lips to his.
Bradley's hands cradled the back of her head, holding her close as moved her lips against his own. He'd let her lead, for now.
When her tongue began to explore her mouth, Bradley decided that he had had enough. He flipped her over, his thumbs brushing over her stomach as he pressed his lips to her own. She let out a whine from the back of her throat as his lips moved across her jaw and down to her neck. He sucked dark purple bruises into her skin, not caring for who would see them in the morning. She moaned out, nails against his back, not quite scratching the skin.
She pulled her shirt off and threw it to one side. Bradley immediately moved down her chest, lips against the supple flesh that wasn't covered by her bra. "Take it off," he commanded as he kissed down her stomach, making his way towards her shorts.
She did as he asked and unclasped her bra. The moment she pulled it away from her body, Bradley's lips were around her nipple, sucking as his hands pushed her shorts down her legs.
She whined and moaned, nails finally digging into his skin. Bradley couldn't stop his own moan as he released her nipple.
With her shorts pushed all the way down her legs, Bradley unbuttoned his shirt and dropped it to the floor. He got to his knees and gripped her thighs, dragging her to the end of the bed.
The first touch of his lips against her thigh had flames igniting through her body. She cried out, reaching for something to grab onto. But Bradley stopped her. He wrapped his fingers around her wrists as he lifted them above her head. "Keep them there, pretty girl," he said and kissed her again.
Bradley travelled back down to where she needed him. He nudged her legs apart with one hand, the other working to free his length from the confines of his jeans. He ran a single finger through her folds and a desperate whine left her lips. "Fuck!" She cried, hands coming back down.
But then Bradley pulled away completely. Desperate tears ran down her cheeks as she put her hands back above her head, just as he had told her to.
He pushed his finger through her folds, brushing over her clit. She jolted her body but Bradley kept going, pushing a single digit into her hole. "Please!" She cried, immediately rolling her hips against his hand.
"So fucking needy." He let out a low chuckle, finger completely still inside of her. "Humping my hand like a little slut." He withdrew his finger and pushed it back in, a second one accompanying it.
Bradley's thumb brushes against her hip as he used his other hand to stretch her out. She rode his fingers desperately, babbling incoherently. "Please, please, please," she cried, but Bradley could barely understand her.
"What do you need, pretty girl?"
"You!" She cried through a gasp. "I need you."
Her thighs were drenched when Bradley pulled his fingers out of her. He pushed down his jeans and climbed on top of her yet again.
Bradley reattached his lips to her own. Her hands were around his shoulders as she drew in quick breath. "Ready, pretty girl?" He asked and she nodded quickly, desperately.
She looked down, looking at what he was working with. Her lips drew in a gasp as she saw just how big he was.
Bradley pushed himself through her folds. It was slowly and gentle. Every time her breath hitched, Bradley kissed her. But the way he filled her, it was all consuming. She couldn't concentrate on anything other than the way his cock filled her.
He bottomed out with a grunt, his forehead against her own. "Fuck," she hissed, eyes squeezed shut. Nothing had ever made her feel like this, certainly not the other people she had slept with over the years. No, there was just him and nobody else. He was the only thought that entered her mind.
Slowly, he began rolling his hips. Her legs locked around his hips as he rocked his hips against her own. His cock pushed through her folds again and again, his pace building. "That's it, pretty girl," he grunted. "Feel so good."
Every nerve in her body was on fire. Her back arched from the bed, chest pressing against his own. The lines on his back that her nails were creating, Bradley couldn't wait to show them off.
His lips swallowed her moans, her desperate cries. She rolled her hips against his own as he hit every single spot inside of her.
"Fuck," she whispered as she pulled away. But Bradley swallowed it, his lips against her own.
Her walls clenched around him and Bradley squeezed his eyes shut, pulling away from her lips to press his forehead against her own. His breath came out in short puffs, grunts leaving his lips. "I'm gonna..."
But she couldn't even finish her sentence. Her legs tightened around his mid section, holding him close as she came around his cock. Bradley kept going. He pressed himself as close to her as he could get as his thrusts grew sloppy. "Shit," he hissed, her walls still squeezing him.
When Bradley came he slumped forward, his arms barely holding him up on top of her. His cum painted her walls and he kissed her one last time. Sweetly, deeply, slowly. It was nothing like the way he had just fucked her, nothing like the way he had sent pleasure crashing over her.
Bradley pulled out and laid on the bed beside her. His hand was resting on his chest as he stared at the ceiling above him. "That was... amazing," he said through gasps, turning his head towards her.
She sat up. On shaking legs she grabbed a shirt and a pair of pyjama shorts. "Where are you going?" Bradley asked as he watched her move towards the bedroom door.
"I'm gonna shower," she said and pulled the door open.
"Want me to come with you?"
She shook her head and Bradley felt himself deflate.
But that was seven months ago. He hadn't even gotten her name, but she was the best fuck he'd ever had. Bradley thought about her often. Whenever he picked someone up from The Hard Deck, he couldn't help but think of her.
When Jake invited him to another barbecue, seven months after he'd last seen pretty girl, as he had been calling her, Bradley jumped at the chance.
He was unable to stop himself from arriving to the barbecue early. The only one there before him was Bob. Bradley got himself a drink from the cooler and sat himself down as he waited for the rest of the guests to arrive.
Every time somebody walked through Jakes back door and out into his garden, Bradley couldn't stop himself from growing hopeful. It wasn't her. He started to think it would never be her.
He didn't know that she was in the spare bedroom, hand on her swollen stomach as she looked down at the barbecue bellow. She'd seen him the moment he walked in, moustache and hawaiian shirt the same as the day they'd met. She immediately remembered why she had found him attractive in the first place.
She had promised Jake she'd he at his barbecue, but something kept her in the spare room. Fucking pregnancy hormones. But she was craving potato chips. Potato chips that Jake had put outside.
Mustering all of her courage, she slipped on her shoes and made her way outside.
Nobody was looking at her, but she couldn't help feeling exposed as she stepped into the garden. Even in the sunshine she wore loose pants, a tank top hugging her seven month bump.
Bradley didn't notice her as he sipped his beer. He had long since given up looking for her. It seemed as though she wasn't coming.
But then she walked in front of him.
"Pretty girl!" Bradley said through a gasp as he stood up.
She completely froze up. "Shit," she squeaked and turned around. "Hi," she said, giving a small, awkward wave.
"Hey-"
But then Bradley spotted it. Well, how could he not? Her bump was huge; she looked ready to explode. "Wow," he said, swallowing nerves. "You look... different."
"Save it," she said and walked away, going to sit with Bob, Natasha and their potato chips. (She didn't know them any better than she knew Bradley, didn't even knew their names, but she needed to get away from him).
Bradley downed his beer. In two gulps it was gone. He placed it down onto the table behind him and strode over to Jake at the barbecue.
"Is it mine?"
"Huh?" Jake asked as he looked away from the barbecue. "What the fuck are you on about?"
Bradley's nostrils flared as he looked at her across the garden, watched her as she got acquainted with Bob and Natasha. "You know what the fuck I'm on about," he said. "Is the baby mine?"
Jake let out a dry laugh. "That baby is a Seresin and that's all that matters."
"So it's yours," Bradley said, his voice defeated.
Immediately Jake began to fake barf. He clutched his stomach as he pretended to throw up onto the grass. "Gross, Rooster. That's my fucking sister." He turned the sausages. "Yes, you're the babies father. Happy?"
No Bradley wasn't happy. He walked away from the barbecue, instead striding over to her. When Bob met his eyes, saw the fury in them, he stood up and pulled Natasha with him, leaving Bradley alone with the woman he had gotten pregnant.
"Jake is your brother," he said as he sat in the seat Bob once occupied. "You didn't tell me that."
"You didn't ask," she replied bitterly as she placed a potato chip between her teeth.
Bradley couldn't stop himself from staring at her bump. Fuck, she looked incredible. He swallowed the lump in his throat and forced himself to look in her eyes. "Jake said its mine."
"It's not an it," she spat. "He's a boy. And he's mine."
"But I am the father, right? Like, without my sperm you wouldn't have been able to get pregnant, right?" He challenged. It was taking everything he had to not let himself get frustrated.
She picked at her nails. "I suppose so," she mumbled and laid her hand against her bump.
"Were you never going to tell me?"
She sucked in a breath and looked up at the blue sky above her. "You were a one night stand, somebody who's name I didn't know," she said. "How was I supposed to find you? And, what was I supposed to say? 'Oh hey, remember that girl you slept with at Jakes barbecue? Well I'm pregnant. By the way, whats your name?'"
Bradley sucked in a breath. She wasn't right and, by the look on her face, she knew it. But there was nothing they could do to change it now. Instead, he held his hand out towards her. "My names Bradley," he said as she placed her hand in his. "What's yours?"

The Pregnancy Glow
Requested: yes
Summary: Rooster can’t help but admire his wife. It’s only a bonus that you’re pregnant.
Word count: 1.0k
Warnings: mentions of pregnancy.
Pairings: Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw x wife!reader
Tumblr media
The wind whipped quickly through your hair as loud laughs escaped you. You were in the passenger seat of your husband's Bronco, singing loudly with the music as he sped down the road. You two had decided to head down to the beach today, seeing as it was Rooster’s last day off before he was needed back at Top Gun. The rest of the aviators were going to meet you there later in the day, but you and Bradley went early to spend some time together on the beach.
Bradley watched you fondly with a large grin as you moved to change the song. Seconds later familiar chords filled the truck. Your eyes cut to Bradley, offering him a cheeky smile. You began singing quietly, waiting for the chorus where you knew your husband would join in. It soon came to the last line of the chorus and you were dying Bradley expectantly. He sighed dramatically before he began singing. “That’s right, I’ve got better things to do!” There was a giddy smile on your face when your husband looked back over at you. His hand found yours as he squeezed softly. The Terri Clark classic was one of you and your husband’s favourite songs. You had made sure to play it at least once whenever the two of you went out. The first time Bradley had ever heard the song you had used it to turn down a date, sending the lyrics to him. The pilot would never admit that he had to ask Phoenix what it meant. She still laughed about it today.
When the song finished a few minutes later Bradley was pulling into the parking lot. He pressed a kiss to the back of your hand as he hopped from the truck. Quickly rounding the front, he opened your door and helped you down. Your hands settled on your swollen belly as you pressed a kiss to his scruffy cheek. One of your favourite things about this time off was that he was able to grow out his beard. Although you had to admit, you couldn't wait for the return of the mustache.
Once Bradley grabbed your beach bags, he grasped your hand and began walking with you down to see the beach. Bradley led you to the spot where you usually set your belongings. After laying out your towels you slipped off your flip-flops and held your hand out for Bradley to grab. You offered him a small smile once he did.
The two of you began walking down the beach, hands swinging between you as your feet splashed in the water. Occasionally, Bradley’s eyes would dart over to you, running along your frame before they returned to the sand in front of him. The pilot couldn’t believe how lucky he was. The day that he officially got to call you his wife was the happiest day of his life, but he knew that the day his little girl is born will be a pretty close call. His eyes landed on your ever-growing bump as a large smile overtook his face.
You were seven months along, and needless to say, Bradley couldn’t wait until you gave birth. The gender reveal party had been over a month ago. You and your husband had trusted Jake and Natasha to plan the party. Since the day that Bradley found out that he was going to be a father to a baby girl, he was ecstatic to meet her. The hospital bag had been sitting by the door for the past two weeks. Just in case, as Bradley had put it.
You tugged on Bradley’s hand and pulled him more into the water. With a mischievous grin that you did your best to hide, you bent down slightly. Dipping your hand into the water, you turned from your husband and splashed him with the water. Once he had wiped all of the cold droplets off his face he was left gaping at you. You giggled quietly as Bradley fixed you with a playful glare. Next thing you knew water was flying at you, causing you to shriek and raise your hands to cover your face.
That was the beginning of a merciless water fight. By the end of it, you and your husband were laughing loudly as water dripped down the both of you. Bradley grabbed your hand gently with a soft smile and pulled you back onto the sand. The grainy substance was warm beneath your toes, sticking to the bottom of your wet feet as you walked back down the beach.
There was a small grin on your face as one of Bradley’s fingers began toying with your wedding rings. You squeezed his hand three times, receiving the same gesture in return a few seconds later. That was the gesture that you and Bradley had used since you first got engaged. Whenever one of you wanted to tell the other that they loved them, they simply had to squeeze their hand or even tap them three times to let them know. You usually used it when you were in crowded public spaces but you figured that now wasn’t the time to disturb the peace. The view from where you were standing really was beautiful.
A few minutes later you and Bradley arrived back at your towels. Your husband sat down in the sand first, grinning up at you before tugging on your hand. Slowly, you sat down in front of him, allowing Bradley to rest his hands on your bump. You relaxed back into his hold, your eyes fluttering shut as his fingers moved over your skin carefully.
Your husband gasped quietly when he felt the baby girl kick, grinning widely at the feeling. Humming as Bradley began rubbing his hand over your bump softly. You rested your head against his shoulder as you relaxed in the warmth of the sun. A few moments later you could hear your friends laughing in the parking lot. Your hand settled over Bradley’s on your belly as their voices grew closer.
A/n: Hope everyone enjoyed! Feel free to send in any requests.

It's Me, I'm The April fool
Funny Story Universe
Pairing: Jake Seresin x Mitchell!Reader, Platonic!Bradley Bradshaw x female!reader
TW:mentions of pregnancy, brief mention of breeding kink I think thats it
Summary: Bradley really needs to learn to mind his own business.
Word Count:2.1k
Tumblr media
"Well, fuck."
You and Jake stare down at the two pink lines in disbelief, thoughts coming and going at warp speed. Jake is borderline buzzing with happiness and excitement but waits to see your reaction before showing it.
He looks at the side of your face, trying to get a read on what you're feeling. Truth be told, you aren't sure. There's a mixture of glee and excitement, you know that much. You love Jake more than anything, and the idea of having a mini Seresin running around causes your heart to swell with love.
Overpowering all of that though, at the very forefront of your mind flashing in giant neon letters, is fear. Not fear of becoming a mother or of Jake running for the hills never to be seen again, but fear of your dad.
He specifically told you to be careful, yet here you are, staring parenthood in the face. It almost makes you laugh because you know exactly when you got pregnant. It happened the same night Mav found out and nearly had a heart attack just at the prospect of you dating Jake.
In your defense, you usually were careful. It's not your fault that your dad didn't learn his lesson about tempting you and Jake. It also doesn't help that Jake fucking Seresin has one massive breeding kink. You weren't exactly complaining at the time.
"Talk to me, baby. What's going on in that pretty head of yours?"
You're broken from your trance and turn to face your boyfriend.
"Dad is going to kill us."
Jake has the nerve to laugh, and you smack his arm with a scowl.
"It's not funny, Seresin!"
He manages to get his laughter under control, stifling tiny giggles as he tries to put on a serious face.
"He's not going to kill you. You're his only child and carrying his only grandchild. Me, on the other hand? Let's hope the only thing he finds worse than a grandchild out of wedlock is a bastard grandchild."
Jake can see you trying not to laugh at his antics, and his stomach flips when he manages to get a smile out of you.
"There's my pretty girl. We'll figure out Mav later, okay?"
You scoff and roll your eyes, settling back on the counter with your arms crossed.
"Yeah, because that worked out so well last time."
He pokes your sides and you almost hate how he manages to cheer you up even in the tensest situations. Almost.
"Well, now we know. I'll make sure to climb to a higher surface so he can't reach me." His face is completely deadpan, and you snort.
"You're fucking ridiculous."
Two weeks later, you've both fallen in love with the little bean, and you've had to physically drag Jake out of the baby section in every store you've set foot in.
You're just leaving the doctor's office, a small black and white sonogram tucked into Jake's back pocket. You're twelve weeks along, and Jake is riding a high only comparable to racing through the skies.
The two of you chat in the car on the way to the Hard Deck; you're supposed to meet the team for drinks. You are still figuring out how to get around that, seeing as no one knows about your little surprise.
"Do you think they'll have my eyes?" Jake asks, and love explodes in your chest.
"I hope so. Honestly, I think they'll be a carbon copy of you."
The thought makes his head swim, and he's consumed by images of a little blonde-haired boy or girl running around with his self-assured attitude. He knows they're going to be a handful, between his arrogance and your ability to charm anyone that looks your way. He can't wait.
You stroll into the bar, immediately sitting by the pool tables to watch a heated game between Rooster and Coyote. The next couple of hours is spent laughing and making bets on who will win.
It's not until Rooster orders a round of shots that you start to panic, and Jake can see the way your pupils widen as you try to think of an excuse. The tequila is set down in front of you, and you just stare at it.
Jake slams his back, and when he's sure no one is looking, he takes yours too. You give him a grateful smile and pray that this isn't a night of heavy drinking. If Jake is doing double, he's going to end up getting his stomach pumped.
Unbeknownst to you, Bradley does see the interaction and frowns but decides not to say anything. Maybe you're just not feeling well. He doesn't give it much more thought.
But then, when everyone is leaving and he's walking with you to Jake's truck, something happens. Jake drops something, and when he bends down to pick it up, he sees a little white square sticking out of his pocket.
He doesn't think twice as he plucks it out and looks at it, always too nosy for his own good.
You freeze when you see it in his hands, and Bradley's face is as white as a ghost. His eyes rake over the image for a solid minute as you and Jake watch, waiting for the impending explosion.
"What the fuck am I looking at?" Bradley whispers, and you gulp.
He peers down at you and takes in the way you're wringing your hands and shifting back and forth.
"Y/N, what the fuck am I looking at?"
His voice is almost too calm, and you think you broke him for a second. Jake glances between the two of you but remains silent. He's almost certain that if he dares to utter a single word right now, Bradley will be on him, and unlike Mav, he could do severe damage.
"Surprise?"
Bradley looks like he's about to faint and vaguely registers bile rising in his throat.
"No, nope. This is a prank, right? I know you're not dumb enough to get pregnant when Mav expressly told you not to. Maybe Hangman, but not my baby sister."
You chew on your lip, and Bradley has to fully walk away for a second before rounding back and halting in front of you.
"Are you fucking kidding me? Do you get off on pissing off Mav or something? You're going to be a single mom!"
He's practically yelling at this point, and you shush him harshly before yanking him closer to the truck, away from prying ears.
"No, I'm not, Bradley. Jake isn't going anywhere."
He gives you a bewildered look and throws his hands up in the air, doing a complete spin to try and process the new information.
"Maybe not by choice, but Mav is going to kill him! I don't mean get angry and yell. I mean full military service, casket in the ground kill him. He just told you three months ago not to get her pregnant out of wedlock."
He's facing Jake now, and you have to credit the blonde pilot for never wavering in the face of adversity.
"Well, I actually have a solution to that problem." He shrugs.
You and Bradley both look at him expectantly. If he has any ideas, you have yet to hear them.
"We could just elope."
Bradley barks out a disbelieving laugh, but you don't find the matter funny at all. Marry Jake? Usually, the thought of marrying a man you've been with for less than a year would send you sprinting in the opposite direction, but this isn't any man.
It's Jake, the man that makes you laugh when you're crying and always eats your mushrooms because you can't stand the texture. The man who was so over the moon at becoming a father that once he knew you were okay, fell to his knees and hasn't stopped talking to your non-existent belly since.
You're already attached to him for life, and the thought has crossed your mind. You don't hate it.
"Jake, don't marry me just because I got knocked up." You sigh, and he shakes his head.
"No, I've been thinking about this since that first night. Just seemed too crazy. It makes perfect sense, though, and Y/N Seresin has a nice ring to it.
You smile brightly at the sentiment and slowly nod your head.
"Okay, let's do it. Let's elope."
Bradley lets out a sound akin to a wounded animal, and you're suddenly reminded that he's there.
"This is the worst idea I've ever heard. Mav will think you're doing it out of obligation and try to stop it. You can't be serious."
You ponder for a few seconds, and Bradley can almost read your thoughts. He doesn't like the look on your face, the one you get right before you drag him into one of your harebrained schemes.
"So we won't tell him until after."
You say it as if it's the most simple thing in the world, and Bradley's knees almost give out. This is the worst deja vu he's ever had; how the fuck does he keep getting wrapped up in this shit?
"No, absolutely not. Last time you said that I aged ten years in six months. You're pregnant. You can't just hide this for months. How far along are you?"
You release an agitated sigh and lean up against Jake's hood.
"Twelve weeks."
Bradley's eyes widen, and you would almost feel bad if it didn't look so funny.
"Twelve wee- what did you get pregnant the night he told you not to?"
You know it's a rhetorical question but answer anyway.
"Yeah, actually. It's kind of funny when you think about it."
Bradley actually sits on the gravel this time, staring ahead into the abyss.
"It's actually not funny, and I wish I could think about literally anything else. Why am I always the one that has to keep a secret? I hate keeping secrets."
He's whining, and you stifle a laugh.
"Because you're always sticking your nose where it doesn't belong. You do this to yourself."
He shoots you a mean glare, and you nudge him with your knee.
"Cheer up. This means you get to be the witness."
His head snaps to look up at you, and his mouth falls open.
"Objection!"
Your eyebrows shoot up, and you choke on a laugh.
"You can't scream objection in a private conversation, Roos."
He leaps to his feet, and you adjust the angle of your head to stare up at him.
"Well, I just did. It's one thing to ask me to hide something like this. But you want me to witness your elopement and not tell anyone?"
Jake finally steps in and subtly nudges Bradley back a few inches; he's gotten a little too close for his liking.
"Well, you're the only one who knows. Besides, it should be someone important to us. We'll have the big wedding after all this is said and done."
Bradley stares him down for a second and ponders the idea.
"You think I'm important?"
Jake scoffs and throws his arm around your shoulder, pulling you into him.
"That's what you took away from that?"
Bradley nods, and Jake closes his eyes, already regretting his next words.
"If I say yes, then will you do it?"
You look on with amusement and give Bradley your best puppy dog eyes.
"Guess you'll have to find out."
Jake pinches the bridge of his nose and tilts his head back to look at the sky.
"Fine. Yes, you are important to both of us, and we would love it if you were the one to be there."
The words are almost like acid on his tongue, and he'll never forgive the grinning pilot for making him say it.
"Okay, I'll do it. But you have to tell Mav soon!" He points his finger at you, and you recoil.
"Don't point that thing at me, Bradshaw."
He lowers his hand, and you clap, giddy at the impending nuptials.
"Okay, we'll put it together and let you know. Right now, I want nothing more than to crawl into bed and sleep. This kid is sucking the life out of me."
Bradley snorts and tilts his head to the side.
"Yeah, I would imagine a Seresin will do that to you." He mutters, and you kick him in his knee.
"Ow!" He yelps, reaching down to grab the area while hopping on the opposite leg.
"Watch it. They're half Mitchell too, you know."
Bradley scowls when Jake coughs to cover a laugh, and you turn to hop in the truck. Jake opens the door before giving his friend a nod and driving you home. This should be very interesting.

Till Death?
Tumblr media
Summary: You and Rooster promised to love each other until death do you part. You just didn't think it would come so soon.
Next Part
Pairing: Rooster x Reader, Hangman x Reader
Warnings: Major Character Death, language, loss of a spouse, PTSD, light smut. 18+ Minors DNI
"It wasn't supposed to go like this," you thought as you watched them lower the casket into the ground.
Almost everyone around you was crying, but you weren't. You knew that the casket was just symbolic. It was an empty wooden box being buried in the earth because they'd never found your husband's body, even after almost two months of searching.
You weren't crying because you knew he wasn't dead. That's what you kept telling yourself. It was the last hope you had, and you needed to cling onto it, if not for yourself, for your unborn child.
You were pulled from your thoughts as Jake presented you with the flag from his casket. You tried to put in a brave face as Maverick held onto you. You and everyone around you were hurting.
You didn't miss the flash of guilt in Jake's eyes. He felt the most responsible for this.
Six weeks ago, the Dagger Squad decided to rent a both for the 4th of July. Jake, being the only member of the crew with a boating license, was driving when the storm came out of nowhere.
He tried his best to save it, but the ship wrecked in the rough waters. The last thing you remember is your husband putting a life vest on you before everything went black.
When you came to the hospital four days later, Maverick and Jake were there. The first thing you asked was if your baby was okay. The second was about your husband.
Neither of the men will forget just how heartbreaking it was hearing you wail his name when they told you he was missing.
They were both there the day the police showed up at your door step a month later telling you he had been declared legally deceased.
You wanted to argue with them, to scream, to cry, to be angry. But, you had to keep it together, the child you were carrying, your son need you.
So here you were, standing and staring at the headstone. You let a few tears slip as you traced the inscription:
Bradley Nicholas Bradshaw
1984- 2020
Loving Son, Husband, Father, and Friend
You had made sure that "Father" had been included because even though Rooster might not ever meet his son in this lifetime, in the four months of your pregnancy that he was there for, he made sure that your son knew he was loved.
In the weeks that followed, your parents would drive the forty-five minutes to check up on you almost every day. If they weren't there, one of Rooster's teammates was. All of them decided to make sure you and Baby Bradshaw were taken care of.
Most of the time, it was Jake or Maverick and Penny checking in on you. Maverick was the closest thing Rooster had to family left, and Jake felt like he owed you. He felt like he was the reason you were barely thirty-one years old and already a widow, a pregnant widow at that.
As time went on, the visits from your parents and even Maverick seemed to be less frequent. Once a week, maybe, but not Jake, he was there at least three times a week.
You tried to tell him it wasn't his fault, but you knew you'd never be able to convince him other wise.
Then, the day you were dreading came, the birth of your son should have been a joyous one, your family was there, your parents holding your hands through it all.
When the nurse laid Bradley Nicholas Bradshaw Jr. on your chest for the first time, you sobbed, a mix of happy and sad tears. You thanked God for your son but cursed him for taking your husband.
You decided to call him Nick. Maybe one day you could call him Bradley, but not right now. After his birth, you asked Jake to be his godfather. You told him that you and Rooster had talked about it when you first found out that you were expecting. Jake cried like a baby when you asked him, but happily accepted.
Three weeks later, Jake found a house for sale a block away from you and bought it. He claimed it was because he had been looking for his own place for a while, but you knew it was because he wanted to keep an eye on you.
Everyone helped you with Baby Nick. They took turns babysitting him if you needed a break. They also made sure you didn't show any signs of postpartum depression, especially after everything you had been through.
You fell in a routine after Nick's birth. Everyone supported you, but Jake seemed to be the most present. The two of you frequently ate dinner together, and there had been several times he'd fallen asleep on your couch instead of making the short walk back to his home.
Everything was going well until Nick was about six months old. You knew waking up today was going to be hard. Today was the one year anniversary of Rooster's "death," and when you rose this morning, it crossed your mind. For the first time, you cared to admit, you accepted that he was gone.
You quickly got yourself and Nick ready to head to the cemetery. You texted the squad to let them know what you were doing and to tell them you wanted to go alone. You knew all of them took the day off today, just in case.
You and Nick spent hours at Bradley's grave talking to him and visiting with him. You laughed and cried as you filled him in on everything he'd missed. Towards the end of your visit, you pulled up one of the stories Rooster had recorded on your iPad when he found out you were pregnant. He filmed them just in case he was deployed during the first year of Nick's life.
You thought he was ridiculous for doing so, but now you were grateful for them. You were thankful Nick would have them to know his father's voice and laugh.
The two of you sat in the grass listening to Rooster read a book about planes when he said it: "DaDa"
Your head snapped down at your son. You thought you were hearing things. But as if on cue, Nick reached out one of his chubby baby hands towards the screen and said it again while looking at Rooster. "DaDa," he cooed.
Your chest felt tight. Sobs threatened to bubble up out of you. You quickly scooped up Nick and your things and bolted to your car. Before driving home, you sent a text to Jake asking him to meet you at your house in fifteen.
Jake met you in your driveway. The second your car was in park, the tears came pouring out. He quickly grabbed Nick out of his car seat and helped you inside. He left you in the living room as he put Nick down for a nap in the nursery.
When he came back out to check on you, you were a whimpering mess.
He pulled you close to him, rocking you and whispering soothing words. "What happened, honey?" He asked you.
"Nick said his first word today. We were there in the cemetery, watching a video that Rooster had recorded, and Nick grabbed the screen and said,'DaDa'. He knew who he was." You sobbed out.
Jake wasn't sure what to say. He just held you until you stopped crying.
That evening, he ordered takeout for the two of you and made sure Nick was fed and changed and ready for bed. Once he put him down, you knew he'd be out for the rest of the night. Nick was a great sleeper.
When he came back into the living room, Jake noticed you had showered and changed onto some sleep clothes.
"Do you want to me leave?" He asked hesitantly.
"Can you stay, maybe just a little while longer?" You asked him.
"Of course." He said, coming to sit by you on the couch. You leaned against him as he slipped his arm around you.
"I'm sorry." You told him. "Sorry for what?" He asked you. "I'm sorry that I lost it today. I'm sure you had better thing to do than take care of me." You tell him.
"Honey, I took the day off just on case you and Nick needed me. You have nothing to be sorry for." Jake assured you.
"Some days are better than others, you know?" You say to him. He nods his head in agreement.
"Like some days, I swear I see him in the grocery store, or I smell his aftershave, or I hear him at the Hard Deck." You explain, sitting up to face Jake.
"And then some days, I lay down at night and realize I haven't thought about him all day. Some days, I think that I'm ready to move on and put myself back out there. I know I wouldn't be doing anything wrong if I did go on a date. I mean, I promised Rooster till death, I just never expected it to be so soon. And on days like that, I feel—I feel guilty. Like I've betrayed him." You finish telling him.
"You can't do that. You can't beat yourself up. Rooster wouldn't want you to wither away in this house. He'd want you to be happy." Jake says, taking your hands in his.
You don't know why, but your heart quickens in your chest.
"I know he would want me to be happy, but what if I can't love anyone again? What if no one ever loves me again? I mean, I'm a thirty-two year old widow with a baby. Who's going to want that?" You tell him.
"Sweetheart, don't be so hard on yourself." Jake says, cupping your face and wiping away a stray tear.
"Any guy would be lucky to date you. You're smart, hard working, beautiful, an amazing mother, and one of the strongest people I know." He tells you earnestly.
You meet his eyes and feel the emerald orbs looking deep into your soul. You can tell he is being truthful, his words sparking joy in your heart, but there's something else there, just behind his smile.
You aren't sure what possessed you to do it, but before either of you can process it, you're in Jake's lap, connecting your lips with his.
His arms wrap around you, one hand splayed across your lower back, the other griping at the base of your neck as you kiss him with fervor.
It's a hot, passionate mix of teeth and tongue.
You can feel him growing harder through the fabric of your sleep shorts and his pants as you grind down on him.
You reach for the hem of his shirt, and that's when his brain finally catches up with him and he pulls away.
"Honey—Honey stop." Jake says pushing you back slightly.
"What's wrong? You ask him, slightly out of breath.
"Honey, I don't want to take advantage of you while you're like this." He tells you, tucking a stray piece of hair being your ear.
"You aren't taking advantage of me." You tell him.
"Jake, please, I want this. I need you." You breathe out.
Before he can think about it too long, Jake's lips are back on yours, and he is picking you up to carry you to your bedroom.
You gasp as he lifts you, giving him a chance to slot his tongue in your mouth.
You're both nearly naked by the time you lays you on your bed. He takes his time with you. Bring you over the edge twice with his mouth and fingers before he even thinks about entering you.
"Honey, I don't have any protection." He says when you try to pull him on top of you.
"I'm on birth control. I have been since Nick was born." You tell him.
He looks back at you, laying on the bed, hair fanned out, body flush. You looked amazing.
Jake's mind was racing. Was he really about to sleep with his dead best friend's wife in the bed Rooster once slept in?
In the back of his mind, the angel on his shoulder told him it was wrong, but the sounds you made when he kissed you and touched you made it feel so right.
Before he could talk himself out of it, Jake slid into you slowly. He cared for you as he passionately made love to you.
He knew that tomorrow you would come to your senses and this would never happen again, so tonight he planned to enjoy every moment of it.
You came with a breathy gasp of his name, something he's sure would haunt his deepest fantasies for years to come.
After he helped clean the two of you up and began to gather his clothes. But you stopped him. "Stay." You muttered, and how could he not.
The next morning, he woke up in a panic, but you soothed him, stating that you didn't regret anything and he didn't either.
He searched your eyes for any indication that you didn't want this, didn't want him.
If he had any sense, he would have run out of there. But the way you were looking at him, he couldn't deny his attraction to you. If he had been stronger, he would have said how wrong this was, but Jake Seresin was a weak man.
He couldn't believe that he was considered dating his wingman's widow. He shouldn't have given in. Temptation always had consequences, but if it meant he could be with you, he was prepared for them, whatever they may be.
Then came the talks of where to go from here. You agreed that whatever you were should say between the two of you for now.
But after two months of being together, you finally told everyone. They were instantly supportive of your blossoming relationship, claiming Rooster would want you to be happy.
Things seemed to finally be looking up for you after so much darkness.
Soon, it was Nick's first birthday. Everyone was there to celebrate him, the house decked out in "TOP ONE" decorations.
You brought the airplane cake you had specially made out for him. Lighting the candle, everyone began to sing before you helped little Nick blow it out and make a wish.
Penny was taking pictures, and you were too distracted to notice that Jake had gotten down on one knee until he tapped your back.
Everyone gasped and smiled, waiting for your answer, but before you could say anything, you were interrupted by the voice of a ghost.
"Hangman, what the fuck is going on here?"
