Thoughts…

“No playtime until you’ve finished your homework” is a great way to train your brain to not be able to take breaks or feel guilty about taking breaks. You NEED to be able to take breaks, even (especially) in times when you’re incredibly overloaded on work. As one of my therapists said, you can’t hold your breath forever. Your brain needs many things in order to function properly and happy chemicals are one of those things. Once you find yourself in a situation where there is ALWAYS more stuff to be done (cough college and work life cough) you’ll end up working yourself into the ground because you’ll never ever be truly done with your work. And never giving yourself time for joy and rest is going to end poorly.

Like it’s supposed to be for (neurotypical) kids with a poor sense of priority and time to remember to do their homework first (which is like. A worksheet at most) and then spend the rest of the day playing. But I feel like I internalized it so deep (probably because of autism) that it became a Rule. And I had to actively learn to break that rule.

ik the popular interpretation is that lee is now possessed by the devil and will become the next longlegs, but idk i dont like that that much.

my view of it is that lee isnt possessed, but still in a very very bad situation.

she tried to kill rubys doll, but her gun doesnt fire. you hear the hollow clicks of the trigger as she tries to shoot it multiple times. its bleak, and a downer end that shes unable to save ruby completely, but she has agency even if its futile.

even if its just her pointer finger she has control over, even if its just the finger tip, even if it doesnt even matter, she pulled the trigger.

the devil stopped the bullets, but didnt stop lee from trying.
