can i get some spiders that DO have very strong venom? not because i want one to be mean to but because i think spiders are really cool!!
Spiders ARE really cool.
The Sydney funnel-web spider (Atrax robustus- found only near Sydney, Australia), and Brazilian wandering spiders (genus Phoneutria - found throughout Central and South America) are, as I understand it, considered the most deadly in the world.
But both of them only have something like 13-15 recorded deaths attributed to them from around the beginning of the 1900s until antivenoms were created for them in the 80s and 90s respectively, so it's not like they're out there killing people left and right.
By comparison and depending on the source, 0-1 deaths are attributed to the brown recluse in the United States. As for black widows, zero deaths have been reported since 1983, but it's hard to find reliable data from before that. Honestly it's hard to find reliable spider bite data at all because bites are often misattributed.
Either way, spiders in general are not nearly as deadly as people seem to think they are.
Let's admire a Sydney funnel-web spider!

Now, here’s a pet.  Unfortunately, the bite can also include extraordinary pain, increased pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and in some cases, death.

New game just dropped! Real or fake Brazil (or whatever country you're from, honestly). You hear something completely insane about Brazil and has to guess whether we're telling the truth or just messing with you, inspired by Forever realizing people from other countries might think it’s weird people here steal telephone cables to sell copper.
I'll start! It's a habit to blow on cups and tap my shoes upside down in case there are any spiders or scorpions inside, because some of the most common arachnids in Brazil are also some of the most venomous in the world and you don't want to find out one of them burrowed in your sneakers for the night by being stung

Supermarket shut down due to spider that can cause long, painful erections
Tumblr media
supermarket in Austria shuttered this week after a venomous Brazilian wandering spider was spotted wandering in the bananas, TMZ reported, citing fears that a bite from the deadly creature can cause long-lasting, painful erections.
The Penny market in Krems an der Donau — which is about 45 minutes west of Vienna, the nation’s capital — has reportedly been closed since Tuesday

Me, seeing a little spider that has precisely one of the traits that makes me truly afraid of them threat posing at me in the bathroom after watching a shit ton of videos from people with pet spiders on YouTube: Aw, okay, hon, you stay over there and we’ll be fine. Yeah, you are big and scary (little cutie). *thinking* wow, I’m not scared, watching all those videos must have helped.
Me, a week later lying down to go to bed and seeing the type of spider that sets off all my arachnophobia triggers crawling across my computer screen: *freaks the fuck out*
In conclusion, turns out immersing yourself in sweet videos of the types of spider you actually find kinda cute does not in fact cure you of your arachnophobia.
