Day 1 and 2: Acorns and Handheld
Thank you so much to @aaytaro-gt for giving the prompts for g/t inktober! Not sure how committed I’m gonna be this month, but I’ll sure as hell try my best lol
Another thank you to my beta Soldier Blade, you are a freaking lifesaver when it comes to editing <3.
================================
Acorns
“Whatcha doing?” Ostreatus turned to the human lounging on the couch, a book cast off the side of the cushion.  She watched him intently as he carved, curiosity burning in her expression. He raised a brow, setting down the acorn and blade.
“Carving” He said, looking down at his current project. Sylvia sat up and her eyes flicking to the small basket of acorns that he’d been working on. After a few months of watching him come and go, it still surprised her when the borrower would bring something strange back to work on. This week, it was acorn carving. Specifically, hollowing out the inside of an acorn.
“How come though? Do you use it as some sort of tiny basket or something?” Ostreatus stared at her, before snorting out a laugh. It was a rare occurrence, but it brought a smile to her face nonetheless. He walked to the edge of the table, the in-progress acorn in hand. Sylvia turned to face him fully, curiosity shining in her eyes.
“Unfortunately, the bottom is too curved to really work as a container, though I do like where your heads at,” He began, tapping the hollowed seed in thought before shaking his head. “No, these are for the colony. From what I recall about you humans, you have a celebration known as “Halloweens” or something, but we celebrate our own version of that!” He said, his body language becoming more and more animated as he spoke. “It's called “Helios Falls”, and descends from when our ancestors would celebrate the nightfall tonight.” He said, a smile creeping onto his face.
Sylvia hummed in thought, listening to the rambles of him as he spoke. Normally, he would be reserved, only coming to shelter when he would be injured or lonely. At least, she thought so. This sudden excitement was strange, but she found herself enjoying it more and more as he continued. “The acorns are for carving faces, similar to the pumpkins you use, for masks or decorations. The kids love it and it's one of my favorite parts of the celebration” He said, and Sylvia's smile only widened in response.
Ostreatus noticed this, and quickly quieted down, a blush darkening his copper skin. Slowly, he sat back down, continuing to carve the acorn. Though she was disappointed that he was no longer openly rambling, she understood his discomfort from being watched. Slowly, she turned back to the book she was reading prior, letting him finish his work in peace. The hours flew by as she became lost in the narrative.
It was only as the sunset streamed through the windows that she noticed him in his traveling gear, strapping the large skullcap mushroom to his messy black curls. The basket of acorns sat beside him, each seed hollowed out fully. Ostreatus turned to her, a small grin on his face.
“Leaving so soon?” Sylvia joked, a teasing smile on her face. He huffed, though the smile on his face showed his lack of anger. He grabbed one of the acorns from the basket, cradling it as if it were a porcelain figure. Slowly, he stepped forward, his cheeks slowly turning a deeper shade of pink. Sylvia became puzzled at the display, but walked over to the table nonetheless. Gingerly, Ostreatus presented the carved acorn, and she quietly gasped.
“Please be careful with it, I-I worked hard on it” He said quietly, his gaze fixated on the ground below. She could only nod in response, her voice escaping her as she studied the seed. It was the acorn from earlier. Her initials were front and center, yet she noticed a variety of flowers and bugs carved near them, all made with care. She slowly took the acorn from his grasp, noticing the little hole at the top so she could wear it. Never in her life had someone gone this far out of their way to make something this special. Carefully, she maneuvered the acorn from her hands onto the table before facing him again.
“You… you made this for me?” She whispered, her voice filled with awe and warmth. Ostreatus nodded, looking up through the mushroom hat he wore. She was touched and without thinking she scooped him into her hands and hugged him, yet the embrace was loving and warm, like a friend hugging you for the first time in years.
He froze, his heart spiking at the surprise onslaught of warmth permeating from her hands and chest. It was slightly overwhelming, yet he found himself relaxing into the touch that he rarely received. Unfortunately Sylvia noticed her mistake and tried to pull him away, but was met with the sight of him curled around her thumb, hugging it close. She smiled softly at him, with his strange mushroom hat covering his head and the leafy-green cloak that obscured most of his body, all messy from the odd position, but it warmed her heart at the open display of comfort.
Slowly, he uncurled, and just sat on her palm, a sheepish yet happy smile on his face. Sylvia set him down on the table, and he scurried off her hand onto the flat surface. Ostreatus righted himself, straightening his hat and cloak in an attempt of looking somewhat put-together, and she could only chuckle at the display.
“Well, I best be off at the colony before nightfall, I’ll see you again soon,” He said, walking to the open windowsill, stopping right at the edge of it before turning back to her. “Thank you, by the way, for listening… and the hug. It.. it means a lot.” He finished, a blush creeping onto his face as he turned back to the window. Sylvia didn’t get the chance to say anything else as he quickly attached his hook to the edge and leaping off like some kind of bird.
As the sun set in the distance, she once again noticed the small acorn sitting on her desk, and the smile grew on her face once more. If Sylvia started wearing a new acorn pendant shortly after, who could blame her?
================================
That’s all for now, have a great day/night ya’ll :]

Related festivals:
• Sukkot- is a Torah-commanded holiday celebrated for seven days, beginning on the 15th day of the month of Tishrei. It is one of the Three Pilgrimage Festivals (Hebrew: שלוש רגלים, shalosh regalim) on which those Israelites who could were commanded to make a pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem. In addition to its harvest roots, the holiday also holds spiritual importance with regard to its abandonment of materialism to focus on nationhood, spirituality, and hospitality, this principle underlying the construction of a temporary, almost nomadic, structure of a sukkah.
• Mid-Autumn festival- also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a traditional festival celebrated in Chinese culture. Similar holidays are celebrated by other cultures in East & Southeast Asia. It is one of the most important holidays in Chinese culture; its popularity is on par with that of Chinese New Year. The history of the Mid-Autumn Festival dates back over 3,000 years. The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunisolar lunisolar calendar with a full moon at night, corresponding to mid-September to early October of the Gregorian calendar. On this day, the Chinese believe that the Moon is at its brightest and fullest size, coinciding with harvest time in the middle of Autumn.
• Thanksgiving- This is a secular holiday which is similar to the cell of Mabon; A day to give thanks for the food & blessings of the previous year. The American Thanksgiving is the last Thursday of November while the Canadian Thanksgiving is celebrated in October
• Festival of Dionysus- There were several festivals that honored Dionysus, the God of wine. It was a time of fun, games, feasting & drinking wine.
Activities:
•Scatter offerings in a harvested fields, Offer libations to trees
• Decorate your home and/or altar space for fall
• Bake bread
• Perform a ritual to restore balance and harmony to your life
• Cleanse your home of negative energies
• Pick apples
• Have a dinner or feast with your family and/or friends
• Set intentions for the upcoming year
• Purge what is no longer serving you
•Take a walk in the woods
• Enjoy a pumpkin spice latte
• Donate to your local food bank
• Gather dried herbs, plants, seeds & pods
• Learn something new
• Make wine
• Brew an apple cinnamon simmer pot
• Create an outdoor Mabon altar
•Adorn burial sites with leaves, acorns, & pinecones to honor those who have passed over & visit their graves
Many cultures see the second harvest (after the first harvest Lammas) and equinox as a time for giving thanks. This time of year is when farmers know how well their summer crops did, and how well fed their animals have become. This determines whether you and your family would have enough food for the winter. That is why people used to give thanks around this time, thanks for their crops, and animals, and food.
The name Mabon comes from the Welsh God, who was the son of the Earth Mother Goddess. However, there is evidence that the name was adopted in the 1970s, and the holiday was not originally a Celtic celebration.
Some believe Night and day are of equal legth and the God's energy & strength are nearly gone . The Goddess begins to mourn the loss she knows is coming, but knows he will return when he reborn at Yule.

What do the trains in your humanization prefer to eat?
Hmmmm now that's a good question
Well humanoids can literally eat anything they want, heck even garbage if they wanted to. It really depends on the taste for them.
Some humanoids don't really eat, but each humanoid has to eat at least something to keep their "firebox" fuel up!
But I'll tell you guys some of their favorite foods.
hey! Why don't I give you their full names! Because why not and I just feel like it- ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thomas, ?????¿? : Grill cheese :] (he'll do anything to eat grilled cheese) but he's not a picky little guy he'll consume anything he wants, the "benefits" of having a rotten core is forever being hungry..... Also he likes oranges (Gordon gets them for him, because he knows how much Thomas likes them.)
Gordon Robert Gresley: He doesn't eat much, but when he does he eats a lot of fruits especially things like apples, plums, and raw pumpkins!
He hates very citrus fruits because of his very sensitive sense of smell, and the citrus really stings and overwhelms him a lot.
Henry William Gresley: Dandelions a lot of Dandelions..... And egg :]
James Laureano Rodríguez Sánchez : Eats whatever he feels like eating. Fun Fact: Don't leave any of your food or your leftovers alone with him, because he'll eat them and if you catch him eating your food he'll look like a shameful dog but keeps eating your food anyway.
Edward Brutus Roman: Tea (any) and Autumn Skullcaps he thinks have a unique taste... Probably because of the poison but oh well he knows anyways
Percy Kipper Goodman: Marshmallows, and this little guy will eat Marshmallows with EVERYTHING.... And I mean everything....
Emily Jay Heart: CHOCOLATE-
Diesel 10 (Dylan Leilani) : forgets to eat a lot of times, but Rosemary. He eats Rosemary's
Diesel Koa Leilani: Jamón, soda bread, and whatever he can eat-

325. Tracy Hickman - DL3: Dragons of Hope (1984)
Tumblr media
The third Dragonlance module is also a bit of a surprise if you are mainly familiar with the world through the novels. Although set during the events of Dragons of Autumn Twilight, the truth is that many of the events here are not adapted in that novel. In fact you would have to wait 23 years until 2007 for some of the events here to be adapted in novel form in Dragons of the Dwarven Depths.
Tumblr media
In this module you and your party of Dragonlance heroes are shepherding the refugees of Pax Tharkas which you liberated at the end of DL2 to a safe place where they can avoid the incoming dragon armies. You are also looking for weapons which might benefit you in the war and looking for the entrance to the Dwarven kingdom of Thorbardin.
Tumblr media
This leads you to Skullcap under which is the entrance to the lost Dwarven kingdom but also the lost tomb of Fistandantilus, legendary wizard of Krynn and a bit of a demilich by now. Another fun Dragonlance adventure, which is heavy on story and light on player freedom, so it might suit you and your player or not, depending on how much do you want your DnD game to be interactive fiction rather than a more loosey goosey affair.

✨September Sun✨
September brings us the Harvest Moon, sometimes referred to as the Wine Moon or the Singing Moon. This is the time of year when the last of the crops are being gathered from the fields and stored for the winter. There's a chill in the air, and the earth is slowly beginning its move towards dormancy as the sun pulls away from us. It is the season when we're celebrating Mabon, the autumn equinox.
Correspondences:
Colors: Use browns and greens, earth tones, to represent the changing colors of the fields and lands around you.
Gemstones: Citrine, chrysolite, peridot, bloodstone, and other reds, oranges, and yellows can symbolize the colorful leaves on the trees in your area.
Trees: Bay, larch, hawthorn, and oak are all associated with this time of year.
Gods: Demeter, Brighid, Freyja, and Vesta, as well as other deities of the harvest, are appropriate to honour in September. You can also work with gods connected to vegetation and vines.
Herbs: Do magick involving wheat, valerian, witch hazel, and skullcap, along with other sacred plants of the season.
Element: Earth is typically associated with this time of year.
🍁Sending September blessings from Mooncraftmagick to you and your loved ones. 🍁

Another mushroom, but this one he doesn't recognize. It's a little larger, with a flat orange-brown cap that kind of reminds him of a pancake. He gives this one a sniff as well, and...
Tumblr media
" Oh. Okay, yeah, that's poisonous. "
He's not sure exactly how poisonous, but it is definitely poisonous. He'd better get rid of this thing before someone accidentally eats it.

Amanita Phalliodes (Death cap)
Lepiota Brunneoincarnata (Deadly dapperling, what a fun name!)
Galerina Marginata (Autumn skullcap)

Each autumn, the Helsinki University Veterinary Hospital treats dogs that have consumed poisonous mushrooms.
Therefore, dog owners should seek veterinary advice as soon as possible if they see their pets ingesting a fungus they do not know is edible, according to Sanna Viitanen, head veterinarian at the hospital.
Viitanen further advised owners to pick up any parts of the mushroom, if found, to make it easier to identify the specimen and treat the pet.
Mushrooms poisonous for humans are poisonous for dogs as well. Additionally, the symptoms of poisoning in dogs and humans are similar.
Some mushrooms can be fatally poisonous to dogs. In Finland, these include the destroying angel, the death cap, the deadly webcap, the deadly skullcap and the brain mushroom in its raw form, according to a press release by Evidensia Veterinary Services.
Symptoms vary depending on the mushroom and its poison. For example, the destroying angel causes acute liver damage. Meanwhile, mushrooms belonging to the genus Inocybe can cause drooling, diarrhoea, nausea, as well as discharge from the eyes.
Poisoning symptoms can indicate a severe condition, which could lead to permanent damage.
As first aid for fungal poisoning, dogs can be given medicine to help induce vomiting, or given activated charcoal at home, Evidensia advised.
According to Mirja Kaimio, Veterinary Medical Expert at Evidensia, people should consult their pets' veterinarians for treatment advice. For example, when a dog exhibits signs of difficulty swallowing, nothing should be placed in its mouth, Kaimio added.
Top five mistakes newbies should avoid in Finnish forests

Hey! I love your blog so much, and I'm so happy that I found it (it's helped a lot)! I was wondering if you could do a list of flowers that mean (or fall into the category of/are similar to): Obsession, Obsessive love, 'til death do us part, I want your attention, I belong to you, you belong to me, etc., etc. Along with this, I'd also like to know what flowers are native to New Jersey (And also which ones bloom in the fall, if any?) Thank you, and have a lovely day!
That should be possible with some creativity given that obsession and bonding don’t exist as meanings themselves, but it leans well enough into the Victorian flower language to get something out of it still. Hope there’s something in here that works for your story.

My spouse @qu1nntus has been very kind to me over the years during a homebrew campaign called Demaria that my friends play every Saturday.
During the years I have gifted a commission of my character Mr. Whiskers and his wife Autumn Skullcap and just last night I was gift my own dice tray!
I’m going to miss looking forward to Saturday for this campaign and I hope what comes next is just as memorable.
Art is by Coksi_likes_shrimps and a link to their Instagram is attached to the post if you wanna check them out! I’ve gotten a few characters done by them over the years and they always turn out amazing.
