Mum preferred her noodles so we are back in Sembawang Shopping Centre to eat at XO Minced Meat Noodle (XO 肉脞麵). From the menu, she chose the S$5 bowl of Chicken Cutlet Noodle (炸鸡扒面) topped with a piece of crispy boneless chicken cutlet and thin yellow noodles tossed in savoury brown sauce.
I took the small portion (S$6) Scallop Minced Meat Noodle (鲜贝肉脞面) which comes with plenty of toppings from scallops, crispy dumpling, pork ball, fish ball, mushroom, fishcake slices, minced pork and lots of crunchy tempura bits. For my noodles, I picked the thin yellow noodles tossed in the same savoury brown sauce and with chilli paste added. Though it came with a bowl of soup, still I ordered a cup of teh siu dai or milk tea less sweet to complete the meal.

So I tried the brown sauce thing...
You remember how Cillian's character, John, in Intermission puts brown sauce in his tea and convinces the goons to try it and they like it? Well, I had actually never heard of brown sauce until I watched this film, but then lo-and-behold, shortly afterwards I am housesitting and I happen to find a bottle of this strange condiment in the cupboard of the house. I struggled so hard to make myself do it, but I didn't want to regret never taking the risk so I went ahead and tried it in my cup of tea. I can tell you, it is just as foul as you imagine! I had a tiny sip and threw the tea down the sink. What a misleading film XD.

Took a nap just now and had a dream where the newest viral tiktok dish people were making was called "Grandma's Grain".
This dish consisted of orzo pasta and brown rice mixed together in a brown sauce (like the sauce you'd find in lo mein). Some people put carrots, mushrooms, and tofu in it, but most people just did the pasta + rice in brown sauce.
One of my coworkers made a bunch of the dish for everyone to try at lunch, and I thought it tasted fairly well.
