Buddha’s hand citrons are growing in. Looks like I’ll get four this year, hopefully. I still don’t really know what to do with them.

Silent Pool Rare Citrus Gin
A #gin that showcases some unusual citrons from @SilentPoolGin #GinReview
Although I am more a fan of traditional London Dry, juniper forward gins than of contemporary style gins, the team at Silent Pool Distillers from Albury near Guildford do make a tasty spirit. I had tried and reviewed their signature gin many moons ago and I was intrigued to see what their Rare Citrus Gin, which Santa had very kindly given me, was like. One of the striking things about Silent…

Ok but Fa Ming, Lady Yin, and Mr. Chen's reactions to not only Tripitaka becoming a demon but his 'brothers' being two former Celestial Warriors, a Dragon Pronce, and most importantly, his eldest brother and the one to teach him how to be a demon being none other than the infamous and terrible Monkey King himself.
Prev.
Fa Ming: "But son, how have you've adapted so well to your new form? I've heard tales of most virtuous men going mad from their new forms." Tripitaka: "Well, it wasn't easy... I struggled greatly with my urges, as well as my new physiology. Not to mention being seen as a fellow demon by many of the beings I encountered! I owe Brother Wukong a great debt for teaching me how to adapt." Mr Chen, paling a bit: "Did... did you just say Wukong? As in... Sun Wukong!?" Tripitaka, confused: "Yes? He's been my companion and dear friend since I first began my Journey." Lady Yin, panicked: "Isn't he the infamous Monkey King demon that was supposed to be confined to beneath Buddha's hand?!" Tripitaka: "Well I uh... let him out. And Guanyin made him come along with me as a bodyguard. We've had our ups and downs - including the surrounding incident that led to me retaining this form - but we've both grown emotionally and spiritually within each other's presence." All Three Parents: (*look between each other and sigh contently*) Mr Chen: "If you say he is a dear friend of yours, we will treat him with the respect and kindness owed. Is he around?" Tripitaka, hesitating: "Yes, but I must warn that-" Zhu Bajie: (*casually busts on in tall-pig demon form, holding Wenhou like a football*) Zhu Bajie: "Master! Brother Wujing is claiming that the piglets can't eat oranges - is that true?" Sha Wujing, holding Boguang: "I'm telling you it's true! Felines cannot consume citrus!" Wukong, appears with Tangzi: "That's true for mortal cats, but the rules can be different for demonic big cats. Master still enjoys the occasional persimmon after all." Ao Lie, part-dragon form flying in: "So we can't have candied oranges for dessert?" All Three Parents: "..." ( 0_0) Lady Yin & Mr Chen: (*both faint*) Fa Ming, chuckling: "To think once upon a time you had difficulty making friends, Liu'er!" Macaque, popping in: "Someone say my name?"
Wukong jokingly refers to Tripitaka's parents (and grandmother) as his own family for centuries afterwards. Eventually all three parents would honestly address Wukong and the rest of the Pilgrims as Tripitaka's adoptive brothers. Though it was a little awkward/surprising when the parents saw such powerful figures running around playing with the grandchildren as if they themselves were kids.
All of them mourned the mortal Lady Yin and Mr Chen's passings when they came.
The family still keeps in touch with elder Fa Ming after all these centuries, though the Buddhist master has become creaky in his advanced age.

It's been a while since I last posted about my citrus trees. From left to right there's Red Finger Lime, Rosso Lemon, Red Ruby Clementine, Red Mexican Lemon, Meyer Lemon, Blood Orange, Buddha's Hand and Pink Finger Lime.
As much as I liked them in my apartment, they're doing a lot better outdoors and overwintering in the basement. Apart from the two Finger Limes, they're all producing, though they're behind this year, as it's been a pretty cold spring and they spent longer in the basement than I'd have liked. Also 3 of them desperately need bigger pots.
The other 3 citrus trees I have and are not pictured, a Kumquat, Green Finger Lime and Kaffir Lime are at my apartment. I didn't get the chance to move the Kumquat outdoors yet and the other two are full of red spider mites I'm trying to treat.

BUDDHA X MERMAID!READER (PART 2)

Warning: nothing bad just fluffy
FALLING IN LOVES WITH YOU
Some time has passed since that meeting, but still you managed to get a little closer, but there was distrust on your part, after all, what could be on his mind? You often just talked about empty topics, but it didn't bother you, as well as him. You often looked into his eyes and could look into them for a long time until he spoke again, you often heard the aroma of sweets that came from him, he was cloying, but perhaps with a hint of citrus, you also liked his hair, you thought it was soft but never dared to touch them (perhaps because of that unfortunate joke) but I really wanted everything, sometimes your thoughts were embarrassing, and sometimes it seemed to you that you were falling in love, even though you rejected this idea. He was interested in touching the horn and tail, although he may have already touched a wet fish, but still, you can't see a charming mermaid everywhere.
It was an ordinary sunny day, you were sitting and playing tic-tac-toe on the sand, he was sucking his lollipop, you were focused enough, and after three losses you were glad to win, "mmm.. Well, you did well" "Yes, I won," you said in a muffled voice, you returned the sand to its original position, and you wanted to play a few times, it was hotter than usual on land, and you felt like the sand was heated under your feet, "Heeeeeee."He drawled, "It's a little hot in here," he said, blowing himself with a stream of air created by the fact that he waved the edge of his T-shirt, "Yes, don't you want to swim? " You asked looking at the water "do you want to drag me into the water" You looked at him in amazement "if you don't want to say so" After finishing the phrase, you began to sink closer to the water and soon found yourself at some distance from the shore "Hey! Are you going to leave me?? "Yes, you dived. Two or three minutes of misunderstanding, he got into the water, "You didn't seem to want to," You said with a malicious grin, "Yes, you know-"You sprayed him with water with the tail "The water is not bad today, Right? "You said laughing."... " He plopped down on you, you started trying to swim away, but two hands grabbed you by the sides, you started waving your tail diligently and you moved, for a good 20 minutes you rolled him along the way throwing him on the corals "Leave me alone!! " You growled when you swam closer to the coastal zone, he let you go and started laughing "not funny! "Almost in a fit, you started furiously hitting him with your tail, he just put his hands up and continued to laugh, as a result, out of impotence, you stopped and lay down with your whole body on the sand. In the evening, you were sitting on the sand (near the water, of course), the sky was shimmering with a yellow-peach shade, you were looking at the sunset, it was very beautiful, you sometimes looked at him with your peripheral vision, in your humble opinion he looked very good, wet T-shirt, hair, everything went perfectly together and even that lollipop that he sucked. You have experienced this burning feeling for a long time, but were not sure how HE treats you "Look, these clouds look like cotton candy" "What? " You looked at him in amazement cotton candy.. You've never seen something like this, but it sounds delicious "dude, you've never tasted this.. "Then he thought, "after all, he wouldn't have lasted in the water," he said, I think I'll bring you to try one, he said with a smile, grunting in response, you already wanted to return to thinking, but suddenly you were grabbed and pulled by the Buddha. "Where are you going? " "What are you doing-" You were interrupted by the kiss of the above-mentioned man, he was passionate and deep, and his fangs dug into your tongue, he still pulled away leaving you gasping "The sky is really beautiful especially with the creature you love" He smiled, you were putsovye, and you definitely did not catch the essence said, after all, were engrossed in that kiss.

Their is a fruit called Buddha palm and I don't know if Wukong would love or hate it?
Tumblr media
Well anon first of all thank you for making me aware of such a cool plant! I've never heard of the Buddha's hand fruit before, but apparently this citrus doesn't contain any juice, pulp, fruit, or seeds. Except for the peel, it's just bitter pith all the way through! And yet it's for that reason that it can add a lovely flavor to dishes. It's apparently also a popular new year's gift in China, as it embodies good fortune.
So with all that in mind, I think when it comes to taste post-Journey Sun Wukong would probably not like it that much, but that's specifically because as a monkey he doesn't really like cooked foods, which is what the Buddha hand fruit seems to usually be used for as a zest. And as a simian who LOVES peaches his palette seems to run more towards the purely sweet and juicy rather than hyper-concentrated & sweet-sour flavors. As for the use of the fruit as a symbolic display piece, I think he would have bittersweet feelings about it due to remaining bitterness over the actual Buddha's palm trapping him for so long, but also for where that event eventually got him.
