Trailer for Bullet Train Explosion, Shinji Higuchi's latest. It's a remake of the 1975 Toei film The Bullet Train, itself the inspiration for Speed. Very visually evocative of Shin Godzilla, which the trailer naturally mentions.

I love how Bullet Train Explosion make the train crews (driver, conductor, planners, engineers) the heroes that save the passengers. The occupations that people overlook in everyday life because they're used to the trains running like clockwork.

She plays the manager of the JR East's Shinkansen Transporation Vehicle Department. While not frequently mentioned in the movie, the character's full name is Yukino Yamamoto.

While she plays a secondary character here, the whole movie is a thrill from beginning to end. I enjoyed it to the point of seeing it 3 times now lol

Didn't love the movie as much as I was hoping to love it but absolutely adored Train Operator Matsumoto (the cool lady in the gifs), General Commander Kasagi, the random electrician who helped them and the train engineers who appear towards the end and move a whole railway track in two hours.

This behind the scenes video promoting the new Netflix remake of "Bullet Train Explosion (Shinkansen Daibakuha)" has floated into my social media feeds in the last week. Even though much of the effects in regards to the Hayabusa shinkansen in the film are CGI, I'm impressed that Shinji Higuchi decided that some shots would work better as miniature effects. I was a bit iffy on this remake, but along with the other videos I've seen, they've convinced me to check it out.
