Decoding the Beauty : BB Cream vs. CC Cream - Which One Is Your Skin's Perfect Match?
Two products have gained significant popularity for their multitasking abilities - BB cream and CC cream. These two beauty essentials are often praised for their ability to streamline your beauty routine, offering a blend of skincare and makeup benefits. In this article, we will delve into the key differences between BB cream and CC cream, helping you make an informed decision on which one suits your skin's unique needs.
Tumblr media
Understanding BB Cream
BB cream, short for "blemish balm" or "beauty balm," was initially developed in Germany as a post-procedure cream to soothe and protect the skin. It later gained popularity in South Korea and eventually made its way into global beauty routines. BB cream is known for its versatility, combining skincare benefits with light coverage.
Key Features of BB Cream
Hydration and Moisture: BB creams typically contain hydrating ingredients like glycerin and hyaluronic acid, providing a moisture boost to the skin.
Light Coverage: Ideal for those seeking a natural look, BB creams offer light coverage to even out skin tone and conceal minor imperfections.
Sun Protection: Many BB creams come with SPF, providing added protection against harmful UV rays.
Understanding CC Cream
CC cream, or "color-correcting" cream, emerged as an evolution of BB cream with a specific focus on addressing skin tone issues. It is designed to target redness, sallowness, and other complexion concerns, making it an excellent choice for those with uneven skin tone.
Key Features of CC Cream
Color Correction: The primary function of CC cream is to correct discoloration and uneven skin tone. It often contains light-diffusing particles to create a more uniform complexion.
Skincare Benefits: Like BB cream, CC cream incorporates skincare ingredients, such as antioxidants and anti-aging components, catering to the specific needs of your skin.
Light to Medium Coverage: While CC cream provides coverage, it is generally lighter than traditional foundations, allowing for a more breathable feel.
BB Cream vs. CC Cream: Choosing the Right One for You
Skin Type
BB Cream: Ideal for those with normal to dry skin, as it provides hydration and a dewy finish.
CC Cream: Suitable for all skin types, with a focus on color correction for those with uneven skin tone.
Coverage
BB Cream: Offers light coverage, perfect for a no-makeup or minimal makeup look.
CC Cream: Provides slightly more coverage than BB cream, addressing specific color concerns.
Concerns Addressed
BB Cream: Focuses on general hydration, sun protection, and a natural finish.
CC Cream: Targets color correction, making it suitable for those with redness, dullness, or pigmentation issues.
Daily Use
BB Cream: Great for everyday use, especially when you want a quick and easy makeup routine.
CC Cream: Perfect for daily use, especially if you struggle with uneven skin tone and want a more polished appearance.
The choice ultimately comes down to your specific skincare needs and makeup preferences. Whether you opt for the hydrating and light coverage benefits of BB cream or the color-correcting properties of CC cream, both products offer a convenient way to enhance your natural beauty. Experiment with different formulations to discover which one aligns best with your skin, and enjoy the effortless blend of skincare and makeup that these multitasking wonders provide.

The Differences Between Foundation, BB Cream, and CC Cream
In the world of makeup and skincare, there are numerous products designed to create a flawless complexion. Among the most popular choices are foundation, BB cream, and CC cream. While they might all seem like similar products at first glance, each one serves a unique purpose and offers distinct benefits. In this blog, we will explore the key differences between these three makeup essentials, helping you make an informed decision about which one suits your needs best.
Foundation
Foundation is the cornerstone of any makeup routine. As the name suggests, it lays the foundation for your overall look, providing an even base to build upon. Available in various formulations, including liquid, cream, powder, and stick, foundation offers customizable coverage to suit different skin types and preferences.
Coverage: Foundation provides a range of coverage options, from sheer to full, effectively concealing blemishes, redness, and other imperfections. Foundation can use different makeup tool, like airbrush. This makeup tool has pressurized technology to enhance the atomization function. It is more easier to penetrate into the skin.
Texture: The texture of foundation can be tailored to your skin type, whether dry, oily, or combination, ensuring a smooth and natural finish.
Skin Benefits: While some foundations offer added skincare ingredients, their primary purpose is to enhance the appearance of the skin rather than providing extensive nourishment.
Tumblr media
BB Cream (Beauty Balm or Blemish Balm)
BB cream emerged as a game-changer in the beauty industry, combining makeup and skincare in a single product. Originally developed to soothe and protect the skin after cosmetic procedures, BB cream gained immense popularity for its multitasking properties.
Coverage: BB cream provides a light to medium coverage, ideal for a natural, dewy look. It evens out the skin tone while allowing a hint of your natural beauty to shine through.
Skincare Benefits: Unlike regular foundations, BB creams often contain added skincare ingredients like antioxidants, vitamins, and SPF, offering hydration, sun protection, and anti-aging benefits.
Texture: BB cream generally has a lightweight texture, making it comfortable for everyday wear and suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
CC Cream (Color Correcting Cream)
CC cream takes the concept of BB cream one step further, focusing on color correction to address specific skin concerns, such as redness, discoloration, or dullness.
Coverage: CC cream provides moderate to full coverage, effectively camouflaging redness, dark spots, and other complexion issues.
Color Correction: The unique formulation of CC cream contains pigments that help neutralize uneven skin tones and create a balanced canvas.
Skincare Benefits: Like BB cream, CC cream often includes skincare ingredients, providing nourishment and protection to the skin while addressing specific color concerns.
Conclusion
In summary, foundation, BB cream, and CC cream are all valuable additions to your makeup collection, each catering to different needs and preferences. If you seek a customizable coverage option and a smooth canvas for your makeup, foundation is the way to go. For a lightweight, natural look with added skincare benefits, BB cream is an excellent choice. Finally, if color correction is your primary concern, CC cream will help you achieve a balanced and radiant complexion.

An Incomplete Guide to Makeup featuring: The Face
So you walk into a Sephora for the first time and are, understandably, a bit lost. There are so many different brands and colors and tools, it’s all quite dizzying. I think, at its best, makeup can be a wonderful tool of artistry and self expression. I won’t get into makeup at its worst tho….
Anyway, I want to go over the basics in a way that hopefully makes sense to those who want to learn. I’m going break this into sections of face, eyebrows, eyes, and lips. And I want to preface this by saying that makeup has no rules! If you want to wear concealer as eyeshadow whomst am I to stop you? This is just a guide of how things are typically done. So let’s get started!
First things first: Skincare! I won’t pretend to be an expert in skincare, but your skin is important. Keep it moisturized with lotion/cream/gel and protected with sunscreen and please, please, please wash your makeup off before you go to bed! If you exfoliate, don’t do it everyday, no matter what Kylie Jenner says. (I can make a separate post for skincare if y'all want more detail.)
Things you typically wear on your face are primer, foundation, concealer, powder (setting and finishing), blush, bronzer, highlighter, and setting spray. You do not have to wear all of these things at once or, any at all if you don’t want to, but some people do. Just know that, unless you want it to move around your face, any liquid or cream product should be set with powder.
Primer
So you know how if you need to paint a wall, it needs a primer to help it stick to the wall and to protect the wall? Makeup primer works the same way. It protects the skin and helps the foundation stick (more on foundation later), can control oil, and can blur “imperfections” such as some texture and large pores. There are two main types: silicone based and water based. I’m told that matching the primer brand and foundation brand is good because the products are made to work together but I have never tested this myself. I’ve also been told that you should match silicone based primer and foundation and water based primer and foundation.
Silicone based primers: (If you see words ending in -cone,-methicone, or -siloxane in the first few ingredients then the primer is silicone-based). These have a smooth, kind of thick, texture and are good for blurring pores, fine lines, and texture.
Water based primers: (water is probably the first ingredients). These have a watery texture, are light, and are good for dry skin (1).
These are very Your Mileage May Vary on what works for you.
Foundation
If makeup primer is like paint primer, then foundation is the paint. It gives you a blank canvas to work with. This is your base. It evens skin tone and depending on the coverage, covers blemishes, redness, dark spots. Coverage can vary from BB/CC creams (basically sunscreen/lotion with some tint in it and also very difficult to find in darker shades) to super full cover up your past mistakes type coverage. Just like paint, it comes in a spectrum of matte (no shine) to gloss, called radiant or glow, which is all shine. What you want depends on preference and how oily your skin is. For example, if you have really dry skin, a super mattifying foundation might make your skin *too* dry.
This section primarily focuses on liquid, cream, and stick foundations as I don’t and have never worn powder foundation.
Next, we need to talk shades because the whole point of foundation is that it matches your skin. To find a good match you need to know your undertone, which can be a little complicated. Generally, when makeup says it’s “cool toned” they mean pink, reds, and blues. If they say “warm toned” they mean yellows, golds and peaches. Neutral lands somewhere in the middle. It’s not an exact science but this page may help you.
Shade ranges typically go, from lightest to darkest, Fair -> Light -> Medium -> Tan -> Dark -> Deep
Some drugstore* options with good shade ranges are: Maybelline, Nyx, Colourpop, L’Oreal Paris, Covergirl and E.L.F
Some higher end options with good shade ranges are: Nars, Too Faced, Estee Lauder, Fenty, Lancome, and MAC
Tools for foundation
You can use a brush or a sponge (or both!) to apply foundation. I like to apply with a brush and blend with a damp sponge, but that’s just personal preference. :)
Tumblr media
(Image: A picture of 5 different types of foundations brushes that are labeled, from left to right “flat/paddle brush.” “stippling/duo-fiber brush,” “flat-top kabuki brush,” “buffing brush,” and “round-top kabuki brush (good for powder foundation).” In between the buffing brush and round-top kabuki, there is a pink, tear drop shaped sponge.)
Drugstore: Morphe, E.L.F, NYX and Real Techniques
High end: Sigma Beauty, MAC, and Sephora Brand
I think I’ll do another post some other time about techniques with each but moving on!
Concealer
Think of concealer like heavy duty foundation. It is thicker and more full coverage than foundation and more for small areas than the full face. Just like foundation, it does vary in the amount of coverage. It can go above or under foundation. There are three ways to use concealer: Spot covering, color correcting, and highlighting and contouring.
Spot covering is what it sounds like, covering small spots that the foundation might not have covered. Typically done with the same color as the foundation.
Color correcting is taking a color and that isn’t your skin tone to “correct” some blemish or darkness. So brief rundown:
Tumblr media
Peach: Dark spots on light to medium skin tones Orange: Dark spots on tan to dark skin tones Red: Dark spots on deep skin tones Green: Persistent redness from acne Yellow: Mild redness Pink: Dark circles and overall dullness on light skin tones Purple: Dark circles and overall dullness on dark skin tones (2)
Highlighting and Contouring**
Popularized by Kim Kardashian. Highlighting is taking a color that is lighter than your skin tone and, well, using it to direct attention to certain parts of your face (or brighten up the under eye area). Common areas to highlight are under eye/above cheek bone/center forehead/chin/bridge of nose. Can also be used under an eyebrow to help shape it. Contouring is taking a color that is darker and cooler than your skin tone and using it to deepen/chisel your features or create the illusion of shadow. Common areas to contour are under the cheekbones, around perimeter of forehead, around the jawline, and the sides of the nose.
You can highlight and contour with foundation or powders, but it’s often done with concealer.
Drugstore: Maybelline, Colourpop, Milani, L’Oreal, NYX
High End: Nars, Too Faced, CoverFX, Makeup Forever
Can be applied with a sponge or a brush, like the few below. They tend to be smaller than foundation brushes because you use less concealer.
Tumblr media
(Image: 5 small brushes shown vertically) (3)
Powders
There are two main types of powders, setting powder and finishing powder.
Setting powder, which may be loose or pressed in a pan, prevents base makeup from moving and can prevent areas of the face from getting oily and breaking up makeup. Often done with translucent powder. Despite its name, MOST white translucent powders are not actually translucent on dark skin tones. It will appear as a grey cast, but you can get “translucent” powders in tan, beige, and yellow. It can be very hard to find good translucent powder.
Drugstore: Maybelline, Morphe
High End: Laura Mercier, Beauty Bakery, and Fenty Beauty
Finishing powder is what it sounds like. You put it on after all of your makeup is done to get it all nice and airbrushed looking. These are typically are loose powder and aren’t really used as much as setting powder. Sometimes finishing and setting powders are used interchangeably (4). At the end of the day it is just powder that goes on your face.
Drugstore: Colourpop, Maybelline, Morphe, NYX
High End: Sephora Brand, MAC, Ben Nye
Setting powder is typically applied with a sponge (damp or not) and pressed into the oiliest parts or parts you want to highlight, called baking.
Finishing powder is typically dusted over the face with a big fluffy brush like this one.
Tumblr media
(Image: A black makeup brush with a round, fluffy, white tip that is widest at its top) (5)
Blush!
This, along with lipstick, is probably one of the most well known aspects of makeup. Blush can be powder, cream, or liquid and is used to bring a bit of flush back to the cheeks (or nose for some people). Can be matte or sparkly. Not all blushes work for all people and this largely depends on skin tones. A light pink blush will look grey on me for example. And yes, blush can work on dark skin, it just depends on the color blush.
Drugstore blushes: Colourpop, NYX, Maybelline, Milani, and Morphe
High end blushes: Nars, Makeup Forever, Lancome, MAC and Bobbi Brown
Cream or liquid blush can be applied with fingers or a sponge. Powder blush is applied with a powder brush, which is also the brush above!
Bronzer
Many people confuse bronzing and contouring. The purpose of contouring is to make your face look more chiseled (or snatched as the kids say). Bronzing is to make you look a little more sun kissed and tan. It’s typically a powder (I have never seen a cream or liquid bronzer but I’m sure it exists) and can be matte or sparkly. It’s applied in about the same place as a contouring might be, but softer and more diffused.
Drugstore bronzers: NYX, Colourpop, Maybelline
High end bronzers: Anastasia Beverly Hills, Nars, Bobbi Brown
Applied with a fluffy powder brush or angle brush or short stipple brush.
Tumblr media
(Image, a black brush with a silver hilt and black bristles. The brush is flat on top and angled to the right) (6)
((Note: You can also do a powder contour with that type of brush!))
Highlighter
And here, the shiny champion.
I don’t know how to describe it other than it’s put on certain spots to make light reflect there. It can be liquid, cream, or powder. Some people want a nice subtle glow. Some people want to look like they’re trying to flag down a plane. It might be put on the cheekbone, under the brow bone, on the tip of the nose or down the nose bridge.
Here is an example of it in use:
Tumblr media
(Image, white woman with dark hair in makeup and wearing Stila Glitter and Glow Face Highlighter on her cheek bones, under the brown bone, on the bridge and tip of the nose, in the inner corner of the eye, and on the forehead)
I find that silvery/white highlighter tends to look washed out on dark skin, but there’s no hard and fast rule on what colors to use. You can go from more traditional colors like gold and silver or you can wear purple or green or blue highlighter. It’s all up to you!
Drugstore highlighters: Physicians Formula, Maybelline, NYX, Colourpop, and ELF
High end highlighters: Anastasia Beverly Hills, Stila, CoverFX, Hourglass, and Laura Geller
If it’s a liquid or cream it might be applied with fingers or a sponge. If it’s a powder, it can be applied with a tapered brush or fan brush like so
Tumblr media
(Image, two makeup brushes. One has a round tip that is wider in the middle and slimmer at the top. One has a tip that is shaped like a fan.) (7)
Setting spray
Last but not least! This is spray that helps melt your makeup into your skin/reduce the appearance of powder, and helps your makeup stay put. This is the last step for the face. All you do is just spray it all over your face.
Drugstore: Morphe, E.L.F., Colourpop
High end: Too Faced, Urban Decay, MAC
More parts to come! xx
*I know Colourpop and Morphe are not sold alongside drugstore products but the prices are comparable
**I can do a post on Highlighting and Contour techniques if anyone wants

A Smart Guide to Primers: What to Use and Why
Perfect base makeup often involves a consistent skin tone and smooth finish. Layered between your moisturiser and foundation, primer is designed to do this by ‘filling in’ your skin’s pores to reduce the build up of oil and to create a more even surface on which foundation can sit. Primers are also frequented for their ability to ‘lock’ foundation in place, so you’re less likely to experience transfer throughout the day. You’ll notice they can come with other perks, such as a tint to mask discolouration, illuminating particles for a lasting glow, and nutrients to simultaneously heal and protect the skin’s external and internal layers.
Carol Mackie, Senior Global Artist for MAC says that while all skin types will benefit from primer use, oilier skin types in particular “are more prone to make up wearing off more quickly so a primer will prolong the wear of foundation.” The same goes for hotter climates, where primers are key to ensuring your foundation won’t slide with sweat.
Tumblr media
TIP: Ensure sunscreen is applied underneath your primer and thoroughly absorbed – safety first!
Consider primer application prior to your foundation much like stretching ahead of a jog – skipping step one usually means problems for step two. Wearing a primer will allow your foundation to work to its full potential, however choosing any primer off the shelf could be remiss. When cooking, mixing oil with water simply doesn’t work. The liquids are different in build and remain separate even when spun together. The same principle can be seen for oil and water-based cosmetics. While hard to measure definitively, your safest bet is to marry like-for-like base products for the most even, long-lasting foundation finish.
TIP: Primer needn’t be applied across the whole face, says Mackie. For those with combination skin types, best apply primer along the oiliest areas of the face only, avoiding dry spots where primer isn’t necessary.
Make Up For Ever boasts a range of primers that can be layered, depending on your desired end result. The brand’s Makeup For Ever Step 1 Mattifying Primer is numbered one of eleven in this range, and is best worn alone as it doesn’t contain silicones. Instead, it contains silica that is a naturally occurring property that, like its synthetic sister silicone, is able to absorb moisture.
Other primer products that fit this bill include Too Faced’s Hangover Primer a lightweight primer that feels divine on the skin, MAC’s Prep + Prime Natural Radiance that contains illuminating vitamins E and C, and cruelty-free brand BECCA’s First Light Priming Filter. For a totally silicone and toxin-free option, try little-known brand Vapour Organic Beauty’s Status Soft Focus Skin Perfecting Primer, which is ideal for those keen on exploring an all-natural, water-based solution.
TIP: “Apply with a brush rather than your fingertips to avoid any natural oils in your fingers, and the brush will allow primer to glide on evenly!” Mackie suggests.
The same is often said for silicone-based products that act similarly to oils in that they are both stagnant. In other words, silicones and oils alike won’t penetrate the skin like water, but rather rest in our pores to create an even slate on which a foundation can sit and latch onto. These products work best for those with mature skin because such additives provide an exceptionally plump finish younger skins don’t need. Dimethicone, for example, is commonly used and acts as a conditioning solution for the skin, delivering a velvety, smooth finish while retaining water.
Tumblr media
For the perfect everyday primer which hydrates the skin, helps foundation glide on smoothly, and increases wear (and works with a variety of different foundation formulas) you can’t go past Marc Jacobs’ Beauty Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer. Its smooth, lightweight, water-based formula works for all skintypes and won’t aggravate sensitive skin.
Smashbox PhotoFinish Foundation Primer and BareMinerals’ Prime Time Original Foundation Primer are transparent gels that glide on and leave an invisible, powdery-matte veil. La Mer’s The Hydrating Illuminator does a beautiful job at delivering to its name. Work it overtime as a cream highlighter on top of your foundation, too. Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer is a fantastic all-rounder primer that truly doesn’t budge and will fill you with confidence on a night out of dancing, it’s especially great for ultra oily skin!
Sisley has an exceptional track record of delivering effective skin and makeup products. The verdict is no different when it comes to their Sisley Instant Correct Color Correcting Primer. As one of two shades available, Just Lavender offsets dull pale skin and red undertones, while simultaneously softening fine lines. For a fraction of the cost, Rimmel’s Insta CC Primers are also worth a try and like Sisley’s, its liquid is creamy and blendable, unlike the thick, pigmented colour-correctors we’ve trialed in the past.
Napoleon Perdis’ Auto Pilot Brightening Skin Primer, housed in a distinguishable pink tube, is also a decent all-rounder that soaks into skin leaving a dewy, hydrated playing field on which to apply your foundation of choice. We found it worked well under a variety of foundation types. If a two-in-one primer-foundation product excites you, have a go of Dermalogica’s Skinperfect Primer SPF 30. It’s been a beauty cabinet staple for years, and works wonders on minimal make-up days. You’ll reap the benefits of a broad-spectrum protectant, long-lasting tint, and airbrushed finish in one.
TIP: Post-application, allow your primer to sit and soak into the skin before adding your foundation; a good 60 seconds should do the trick.

If you would like an explanation of makeup
Here it is:
I think I’ll go in phases. According to how the things are applied. Obviously some people’s experiences may vary, based on how they apply these things or in what order, but, they are all fairly standard.
1. Priming
Many people wash and apply a moisturizer before they apply makeup. A primer is supposed to fill in pores and cause the makeup to adhere to the skin. I personally skip this step as I’ve never noticed a difference. Some people with oily skin will wear what is called a “mattefying” primer that inhibits oil production, so that the makeup doesn’t separate and slide off the face throughout the day. To me this is the only type of priming that makes sense, but obviously…I have very different skin.
2. Color Correction
This means applying a color to the problem areas of the face that will “cancel out” the colors you’re trying to conceal. For example, most people have dark blue circles beneath the eyes. This can be canceled out with a salmon pink tone applied directly to the affected area. Red blemishes are canceled with green tones. Purple bruises cancel with yellow. These come in several forms. There are tinted concealers, which adhere to the skin firmly and must be covered with care, cream products that are easily blended, and powders. So if you see what looks like a “palette” or set of eye shadows that are pink, yellow, pale blue, green, and purple, they are usually for color correction, and a thing in a tube that is one of these colors is usually a concealer.
I do most of my color correction with an airbrush machine, using eyeshadow pigments. I find I get a far more even tonality with this and the foundation I apply over top is far superior. However…again, I go to the Nth degree to look unbearably human. Most humans do not need to utilize this step at all, beyond correcting truly terrible under-eye pigmentation, or covering the odd blemish on an important day.
3. Foundation
Foundation is the step that evens out the skin and makes it look all one shade. It covers blemishes, birthmarks, pigmentation issues, and just general unevenness of tone. There are many types of foundation, and often the best way to figure out what will work is to know your skin type. But first let me give a bit of a list. There are tinted moisturizers, liquid foundations, mousse, creams, cushions, powders and all of them contain subcategories which achieve slightly different effects.
Tinted moisturizers like BB and CC cream are becoming more popular for common use and are essentially as they sound, containing many skin healthy medicines and additives also. Some even have finely milled pigments that catch the light to give the skin a healthy glow. Some people use these as primers and some as their foundation.
Liquid foundation is the most common and ranges from mattefying, or oil-controlling, to extremely moisturizing or “dewy”. They also range from “full coverage” to “light coverage”. A full coverage foundation is going to cover most everything and make the skin very even. Light coverage is going to allow some of the natural skin pigment to show through. Full coverage foundations are the ones that most often come along with the problem of “cakiness”. A foundation is considered “buildable” if it can be applied in layers that bring it from one level of coverage up to the next – “light to medium buildable coverage” for example.
Powder foundation is precisely as it sounds – a skin-colored powder that sits on top of the skin. I find it moves too easily, and therefore only use it if I am “touching up” which is to say, making certain my foundation remains matte or oil-free. Yes, I make facial oils.
4. Concealer
Concealers are typically either a liquid in a tube with an applicator or a cream in a pan applied with a brush. They are designed to match the foundation or go a bit lighter. they are applied to a problem area, given a minute to set a bit, then are blended into the foundation color with a sponge or brush. They, as the name suggests, conceal things, but they can also be used to brighten or highlight an area, particularly under the eye. One “bakes” this under-eye area by applying a setting powder over it in copious amounts, for several minutes, and then brushing free the excess.
5. Contour/Bronzer
Now we are getting a bit more complicated. These pigments are designed to shape the face using optical illusions. These products come, most commonly in powder or cream form. Bronzers tend to be in the more warm tan, red, or golden range and are applied around the face to simply warm it up and make it look as if you’ve gotten a bit of sun, while contour shades are meant to create shadows. It is possible to use them vice versa, but it depends on your coloring and the product itself. Powdered products apply simply to the face using a brush while cream products have to be more carefully blended in.
6. Highlighting
This goes in line with contouring in that, as contouring creates shadows, highlighting creates lift. Most commonly, you will see these in photographs along the cheekbones, bridge of nose, and brow bone. They tend to shimmer. In truth a highlighter can range from the sort of glow one gets from a gentle light source, to the absolute blinding quality of a blacklight. Highlighters come in all forms and colors, from powders, to mousses, to liquid drops, cream sticks, and on and on. They are almost always iridescent, and in shades that are neon or extremely pearlescent or pale. Some people like to look as though they might be made of ethereal plastic, and some prefer just a hint of sun.
Most of these products are applied atop the foundation and all the above steps, but some, like the drops, can be applied beforehand.
7. Blush
Blushes come in powder or cream forms. They are typically pink, though now we are seeing lovely pigmentations from corals, to salmon, to deep plum, to burgundy. Place in between the highlight and contour, they make a face that much more alive and lightly flushed.
8. Brows
Brows can be sculpted and reshaped, filled or drawn on with a number of products – Pencils, powders, pomades, waxes, gels, and tinted, mascara-like products. Powders, mascaras, and pencils are designed to fill in. Gel, wax, and pomade are designed to sculpt and hold. Clear gel is also used.
9. Eye shadows
These come in several forms – powder, cream, pencil, and liquid. These depend entirely on the look one wishes to achieve and many shades are layered over the eye in varying ways to change the shape of the eye, heighten certain aspects of the eye, like color, or to simply be fun or fashionable. Much depends on skill level and the desired effect, but commonly, one would want at least three shades: a “transition shade” for the “crease” or area sunken in between lid and brow. This shade should be the one in the “look” that is closest to your skin color in vibrancy or opacity. Then there is a darker shade to provide depth. This can go at the outer corner of the eye, in the crease, or along the lash line. And then typically, you’d want a lighter or more shimmering tone to go on the lid. Most “looks” however, contain at least five colors.
Powdered shades come in either “single pans” or “palettes” (palettes are usually a collection of colors meant to be used together to achieve different looks) Types of powders are: matte, pearl, shimmer, glitter, foiled. Matte shadows are simply the color in a flat pigment with no sheen to it. Pearl shadows tend to have that milky opalescent quality of the surface of a pearl. Shimmers have little light catching particles finely milled within and reflect the light. Foiled shades often look like liquid metal and have an unbroken shine to them. Glitters usually require a setting spray or glue to adhere and have larger glimmering particles that can be “chunky” or flake off.
Creams, liquids, and glitters are typically layered over top of traditional powder shades. Some are used like liners.
If you’re curious about eye shadows, what to buy and how to use them, watch tutorials on Youtube. It is simple and often helps with understanding new products for me. Many of the people giving these tutorials will also review products as well. Pay attention to terminology and learn the language same as any other.
Some shadows are discussed as being “pigmented” which means that when applied to the skin, their colors are opaque and vibrant. Some are described as “chalky” which means powdery and faint. Some are “creamy”, which means they apply like a liquid. Some are “blendable” which means they can be worked at until the pigmentation either fades or is worked into another color. “Hitting pan” means you have used the shade so often that you have reached the bottom of the metal container. “Depotting” is removing a single pan of shadow from a palette so that you can transport it separately.
10. Eye Liners
Eyeliners come in several forms: liquid, gel, pencil, gel pencil. Seems confusing, but isn’t. Liquid is applied using a fine tipped brush or a felt tip. gel is applied with a flat angled brush, pencil is a waxier substance in pencil form and honestly my least favorite to work with, and gel pencils are self-sharpening, smooth and softer. these come in all colors, though the traditional black and brown create the illusion of eyelashes where the real thing may be thin or non-existent.
11. Mascara
Mascaras come in a variety of colors and only one type. That typical wand-in-a-tube shape. Formulations vary and they all claim to do different things. Personally, I never really use them, as I only ever have on false lashes, but I do have one I like, and it is a rather smooth, creamy formula that applies easily and dries down swiftly, remaining water proof. When given the choice between water proof and not, humans should choose water proof, as this was an innovation worth the money. With normal mascara even the tiniest bit of moisture in the eye, along that lash line, turns you into racoons.
12. Lip Liners and Lipsticks
This is a horrible maze of meanings. Liner is fairly simple. Usually you want a liner that is either the same shade as the lipstick or slightly darker or of a slightly different, but blending hue.
Lipsticks come in countless forms. You have liquids - in tubes with little wands, tend to look just like the ones applied in the “customary way”. Liquid Mattes, which apply with a wand but dry to a velvet like, matte, unshiny finish. Sticks which range from shiny, to glossy, to matte. Glosses which are usually pigmented balms. Lip toppers which layer pigments in thin-textured drying liquids. And on and on. Some are supposed to dry and stay all day. Some are just like chapstick and wipe off if you smudge them.
Some other products you might like to use: Setting sprays which are made to cause the makeup to set in place. Translucent powders, which do much the same, but can also do things like “bake” and under-eye as discussed in the “concealer” portion. A good makeup remover – I find mycellar water to be the best, hands down.
Tools: Most people know about brushes and sponges. I will name a few that I view as being somewhat essential here.
The “beauty blender” sponge. BeautyBlender is a brand name and to me superior in softness and use, but there are other brands people swear by. The sponge is meant to be used wet. You wring it out beneath water and it swells, remaining a bit damp throughout. This makes it easier to blend foundations and concealers and cream products, as they do not dry out. The moisture also presses and stamps the product into the skin. If using a powder, the blender can pick up a great deal of powder at once.
Brushes I use vary, but I will give you a small list, each tailored to the task it does.
Fluffy Kabuki brush - this has densely packed fibers and is ideal for blending all facial powders or applying bronzers
Blush brush - usually looser in the way the bristles are put together allowing the product to disperse. This brush is also ideal for brushing off other powders.
Tapered fluffy brush - works well for highlighting or a bit more precision
Flat tapered concealer brush - again, helps with precision
Small angled blending brush - does wonders for blending out eye shadows
Flat, rounded shadow brush
Small tapered blending brush - works well to apply things in small areas like the inner corner of the eye or deep crease
Flat angled brush - ideal for brows, lining the eyes, etcetera.
Several tapered blending brushes
“Pencil” or narrow tapered brush - ideal for tiny details
Lip brush
Contouring brush - usually a thing edged brush or angled fluffy brush ideal for getting into the areas that need shadows.
I use an airbrush machine. These use a few drops of water-based foundations and pigments and coat the skin in layers like painting a car or house. I find them to be very good for many purposes, but I’m not sure I could or would want to do my eyes with them.
If you apply synthetic eyelashes, they must be done after the eyes are made up, usually as one of the final steps. One trims the lashes to size and then applies the glue, waiting to allow the glue to become tacky. then the lashes are applied and stuck in place using fingers or tweezers. The more flexible the “band” of the lash, the more easily it will fit into place. It is not the best idea to apply mascara to them, as they tend not to last as long. They can be re-worn in most cases.
This is any and everything you need to know about makeup. You should know that cosmetic brands will often either attempt to innovate (like MAC’s failure of an eyeliner that was in a rolling wheel form) or they will create “collections” around a theme, color story, personal collaboration, or trend. Most recently, everyone went mad for unicorns and everybody and their mother had a unicorn collection with stupid names, neon colors, too much shimmer for any one being to wear, and a plethora of failure products that now line clearance shelves. Some of the products were lovely, but most utter garbage.
Most cosmetic chain stores will allow you to see the materials and “swatch” or sample them. Do. Too many companies charge far too much.
I wonder if I’m forgetting anything.
I don’t think I am.

Where have all the flowers gone
Last time :
Thanatos: ...seriously I am not sure virginal goddess was the correct choice for Princess
Needing to focus on something else Thanatos set about catching up on leftover laundry from the weekend. Filling the washer he emptied his dryer carrying the overfull basket back to the living room to fold. Wanting additional distraction he turned on the tv only to remember it was the middle of the day and all that was on was talk show trash. Not really caring to try and find anything else he just left it on The Pheme show for background noise as he set about folding his laundry.
He was about twenty minutes into The Pheme show and totally engrossed in who the father could be of the nymph on screen. He was betting none of the above because the baby looked hella aquatic and neither her out the suitors were.
Thantos: If her great grand daddy was a cousin to the Kraken I am a flower nymph.
Of course as he said that Persephone had just walked in to room behind him and heard it. Walking around the couch she settled down on the other side of the laundry basket the second tub of ice cream freshly laid open and spoon stabbed in at the ready.
Persephone: Flower nymph huh, I can’t see it.
Thanatos had paused mid fold as Persephone had stepped around the couch. She was flushed and refreshed looking from the bath but that wasn’t an issue. The issue was the fact that she appeared to be in a oversized university sweatshirt and nothing else.
Thanatos: I could say the same thing with regards to your pants.
Persephone blinked looking down but then shrugged.
Persephone: They were all to long and loose on me to bother. Instead I borrowed some of your boxer briefs.
She lifted up the edge of the sweatshirt to show in fact she was wearing a black pair of his boxer briefs much to his mortification. When he had given her free reign of his clothing he had never expected that to include her snooping in his underwear drawer.
Thanatos went back to folding the laundry having no real argument against her logic. His underwear was at least a little more modest than hers would have been. Still out of context if someone was to see the picture they painted he would understand if a few eyebrows were raised.
Persephone: I borrowed your washer really quick. No use getting cleaned up just to get dressed in tear stained clothes. Once they are dry I will get changed and head back.
Thanatos was a tad surprised. He had!expected she might stay for a few more hours but it seemed she was decided.
Thanatos: Oh? Well, probably for the best. I am a horrid cook so avoiding dinner with me is a wise decision. Do you want me to mail out the pregnancy test from here? Figured it might be less risky that way.
Persephone picked at the edge of her sweatshirt nervously before responding. She knew the answer . She got herself into the mess so she needed to handle it like the adult she was.
Persephone: No, I will take care of it all myself. I have already placed enough on you already.
Reaching across the couch her hand rested on his knee giving it a squeeze.
Persephone: Seriously, thank you. I would have been a wreck without you.
Thanatos nods not feeling a your welcome would be appropriate at this point. He had hardly done anything. Time seemed to pass rather quickly though and in no time Persephone’s clothes were dry and she was changed back. He had offered to take her home but she had declined. In the end they had settled on him being allowed to call her a Charioteer.
Escorting her out of his townhouse he was surprised when she turned to face him and threw her arms around his middle in a sudden hug. He was shocked to say the least but on instinct he returned it in kind It was a small price to pay if it was what was needed.
Far enough away, the sound of a zoom lens and flash goes unnoticed as this embrace takes place . This was a money shot for sure! Thank Zeus for his source. A few more pictures like this and he would have a killer story to bring to his employer. Perhaps if he followed her he could get some good headshots for the story.
Pulling away slowly Persephone looked up at Thanatos and smiled.
Persephone: Thank you again CC. I will let you know when I know something.
Thanatos nodded letting his arms fall back to his side as she did the same and turned from him going down the stairs to the waiting vehicle.
Entering the vehicle she smiled politely and confirmed her address with the driver before sitting back to get lost in her own thoughts.
Leaving the curbside the driver glanced back at his passenger. Another looker, like his last fare, but this one he hoped was a little more sane. Maybe since it seemed she had just left her lovers and the parting seemed pleasant this would be a stress free uneventful fare. What were the chances of two crazy sexy broads back to back after all? With it nearing the evening rush hour the driver turned his full focus to the road before him paying no attention to the state of his passenger.
Had he have looked back their journey together may have ended before it had truly begun. Persephone’s eyes were focused on the pharmacy package in her lap the stark whiteness of it making it stand out like a sore thumb against her dark colored clothing. The items inside the bag weighed her down with worry and anxiety that was nearly suffocating. With the torrent of emotions and thoughts running through her mind Persephone failed to notice the havoc her powers were releasing around her. It started off mildly a crown of Red Columbine weaving around her hair but it quickly crept down spreading over the seat around her. Amongst the red and yellow flowers white Lillie begin to grow. The lanky leafy stalks shooting up around her in the backseat made the backseat look more akin to a jungle than a vehicles inside. Sometime later as they turned on her street a feeling of sadness begins to sweep over Persephone. Her thoughts settled on the innocence she had lost and in such an unenjoyable way. In reaction to her emotions the flowers around her begin to wilt and wither the white of the Lillie’s turning brown at the edges. Pulling up to the curb Persephone eyes saw a car waiting in the drive that brought her back to her senses immediately. Hestia was paying a visit just great. Looking about her she is momentarily shocked to see the cacophony of dying vegetation. Taking a moment to analyze the meanings her heart rate accelerated seeing the quickly decaying white Lillie’s. Virginity and purity but in this state they would serve as a scarlet letter should Hestia see them. Quickly getting out of the cab she leaned into the passenger side window glancing at his posted license placard ‘Stéphanos Hieron’ as she worked on getting the money out for the fare.
Persephone: Mr Hieron you have been a lovely driver. I am so sorry for the mess in the back so please take this money to cover my fare and any damages.
Persephone quickly handed over a sizable stack of money to the shocked Hieron before taking off like a flash towards the house not looking back.
Stéphanos was surprised to say the least the amount of money she had handed him would have covered her fare five times over but his brain quickly caught up to her words and he whipped around to see what the damages were. He was left momentarily gobsmacked at the decaying floral mess left in her absence. Putting the car back in gear he mutters to himself
Stéphanos: Nah that’s it I am done for the day. Two cray women in a row. That is a sign right there if I get a third one they will be writing an Iliad about me over here and nothing good ever happens to the little guy in those stories. Gonna take my losses , count my blessings and get my unlucky ass home to my old lady.
Persephone too was starting to suspect she was trapped in a story of sorts but hers seemed to be leaning more towards a suspense horror. After picking every trace of flowers she can find from her person she lets herself in clutching the pharmacy bag tightly closed as she walked into the living room seeing an angry Hestia waiting besides an anxious Artemis.
Persephone: H-Hi Hestia..

When I not at work and am going out for a fun dinner with friends, my favorite red is MAC matte Viva Glam 1. For a more vampy look, I use a Maybelline lipstick in Deep Cheery (420). I rarely wear the Maybelline because it looks a little too shiny and I prefer a matte look for a more dramatic night out.. I have always struggled to find makeup that works in my skin. I am pale with yellow undertones, and have the translucent skin, so everything I tried always oxidized and made me look like an Oompa Loompa. I finally went around Christmas to Sephora and had one of their makeup artists color match me. Season 1, often seen as fairly weak, does a great job of introducing and developing the characters. Note how 완주출장샵 much you learn about them and how their actions in season 1 can be felt through the rest of the show. Watch Buffy really decide to BE the Slayer, and you see her grow into a powerful leader over the course of the series.. As for Pokemon, you clearly are not familiar with the demographic that actually play Pokemon. It almost all adults (all genders). It less marketers and advertisers are trying to infantilise women with these types of imagery, and more that they using things they already love to sell other products. He spoke upon all subjects except the sciences, alleging in this respect the inveterate hatred he had borne to scholars from his childhood. He had not so noble an air as Athos, and the commencement of their intimacy often rendered him unjust toward that gentleman, whom he endeavored to eclipse by his splendid dress. But with his simple Musketeer's uniform and nothing but the manner in which he threw back his head and advanced his foot, Athos instantly took the place which was his due and consigned the ostentatious Porthos to the second rank. In case you want certain weapons to be a certain element come Forsaken, make sure to apply the elemental mod to them. Exception is EP shotgun and sniper. Those weapons will be solar. Applications were due the next day and even though I overnighted it I didn get in. I always assumed that BYU is a first come first serve kind of thing and they were filled up by the time I got my application in. I mean, I got crazy scholarships to the school I ended up going to and had crazy good letters of recommendation from the bishop and stake president (my dad and uncle).. I mostly regret foundations ive bought after letting sales assistants match my colours. I saved up to buy the hourglass vanish stick, went to the store with a rough idea of what colours I felt would contenders for my best. I asked the SA to try them on my jawline, then she said something like oh my god the one on the right is your perfect match! I can never tell in store lighting so I guessed 완주출장샵 she knew what she was talking about and agreed because it did sort of look like it could be a match?. What is CC Cream?"CC" stands for "color correcting" or "complexion correcting." CC Creams claim to do just that they offer the combined benefits of cutting edge skin care and flawless foundation coverage in one easy to use product. Many CC Creams have SPF (UV) sun protection, Antioxidants, Anti Aging or Collagen Building Ingredients, Skin Brightening Ingredients and oil control benefits. All CC Creams offer moisturizing benefits and some level of pigmentation.

What are the Benefits and Usage of a CC Cream?
CC cream is one of the most versatile cosmetic products available today. It can perform multiple functions like a moisturizer to sunscreen and foundation to day cream. However, the main property of CC creams is colour-correcting the skin. Hence, it is called ‘CC’ cream.
Our skin will have dark patches, uneven coloured areas, etc., which need to be concealed to provide a consistent and even tone. CC cream formulas are specially formulated to cover the discolouration and dark or red patches that affect the skin.
Sometimes, CC creams and BB creams are also called tinted moisturizers because they also provide hydration. However, most CC creams like Lakme 9 to 5 CC cream perform functions like sun protection, covering signs of ageing, and more. Hence, CC creams are preferred by many as they can perform a variety of functions along with giving a foundation-like finish.
However, CC creams are primarily used for colour-correcting processes.
Wondering, what is color correction?
As the name suggests, color correction is more about hiding the problem areas than matching the precise skin tone. So, mainly color correction involves neutralizing the uneven, dark or red areas on the skin. Due to the discolouration, the skin might look uneven and patchy. And, doing makeup on an uneven surface will not provide desired results and it doesn’t sit right on your face.
So, by using the right shade of CC cream, you can camouflage your discolouration and get a consistent skin tone. This will not only brighten your skin but also provides a neat canvas to apply makeup.
How to apply CC Cream?
This lightweight formula usually has a creamy consistency (which is more like a liquid foundation) and it can blend into the skin easily.
Here are the few important steps to follow when applying CC cream:
Wash your face with a face wash or a mild cleanser because CC cream should be applied to clean skin.
Moisturize your face properly. Even though CC creams have moisturizing properties, it is advisable to moisturize the face before applying the cream.
Take a small amount of CC cream on the back of your hand and apply small dots of the product all over your face using your finger.
Take a makeup sponge, beauty blender or makeup brush to blend the dotted product all over the face. You can also use your clean hands to blend the CC cream thoroughly.
If you still find discolouration in some areas then apply more product in those areas using the same process.
Advantages of using CC Cream
CC creams will be light on your skin and they provide a natural look. The formula is such that it blends easily with your skin tone. So, you need not worry about getting a cakey appearance.
It's a versatile product because it can multitask. Most CC creams come with SPF (sun protection, they have moisturizing properties which hydrate the skin, they colour-correct the blemishes and uneven surfaces, and also work like foundation.
CC creams also have anti-ageing properties which help in covering any signs of ageing such as fine lines, dark spots and wrinkles.
CC creams have moisturizing properties which make your skin look brighter and fresh.
CC creams also work as a good makeup base to create different makeup looks.
CC creams are a good alternative for foundations (which have a slightly heavy formula)

The definition you need with a formula that lasts beyond “I do.” Choose a waterproof eyebrow pencil with hydrating ingredients like jojoba oil, shea butter, and sodium hyaluronate to prevent dryness and flaking later on in the day.
Brush and lift your brows with a spoolie before defining your brows. Use short, light strokes with a waterproof eyebrow liner to line your brows and define your arches. Fill sparse and over-plucked areas slowly, building the formula gradually to mimic the look of actual brow hair.
Waterproof Eyeliner
After cultivating a wedding-perfect look with your neutral eye palette, line your upper lid with a waterproof eyeliner pencil to define your eyes and make your lashes look fuller. Choose a waterproof eyeliner to avoid smudging or fading throughout your wedding day.
You might not be a crier, but whether you shed a tear or not, dependable, waterproof formulas ensure that the beautiful work you did earlier lasts until you leave your reception. Test out an eyeliner before your wedding day to see if it holds up to the test of all-day wear.
Waterproof Eyelash Glue + Faux Lashes
Instead of using a waterproof mascara for your wedding day—which tends to dry lashes and flake—choose a set of faux lashes with a waterproof eyelash glue. This gives you the length and volume you dream of without the dryness or flakiness of a waterproof mascara. Faux lashes are also easy to apply and remove at the end of the day.
Apply the waterproof eyelash glue to the base of the faux lashes and wait 20-30 seconds, or until the glue is tacky. Place the faux lashes at the base of your lash line beginning at the inner corner of the eye and work outwards. Tap down gently and allow to dry for 30 seconds. Practice a few times before the big day to feel confident about your faux lash application skills.
Long-Lasting Lipstick
A wine-hued stain in autumn or a cherry red lip in summer is a bold yet classic look that’s perfect for bridal makeup. Choose a buildable, full coverage formula that is plush with pigmentation and nourishment. Look for a lipstick with a built-in primer for a creamy, line-smoothing application. Ingredients like sunflower seed oil and shea butter prevent drying, chapping, and cracking.
Ask a glamor-savvy friend (whose advice you trust) which shade of lipstick would fit best with your wedding colors and complete makeup look. Whether you go with a taupe rose tint or a rose shade of red, a long-lasting lipstick is a memorable addition to any bridal makeup style.
