"Belfast to Byzantium" (2022 - Rita Duffy) / "Freedom" (2023 - Anastasia Trusova)

BELFAST TO BYZANTIUM: The photo is mine, because I couldn't find any online, but I really need everyone to appreciate the fact that this is 123x184 cm (48x72 in) and the red is much more intense in real life. The painting itself has this beautiful and horrific quality to it. The ship is packed full of people, emulating cruise ships, the titanic, slave ships, refugee boats. It is this awful mass of humanity, and a chaotic Bosch-esc vomitting of so many fears and tensions of our world. 

It is a part of a tryptich, and I think this particular piece focuses much more on global warming, exploitation, and immigration. I feel like i can look at this piece for so long and i'm still seeing new things in it. It is something that makes you stand and stare for a solid few minutes. My personal favorite details are the people(souls?) in the smoke stacks, the way that the human form gets twisted and consumed to keep this terrible ship going. Similarly I think the hands in the water are fascinating, (again a titanic allusion), with a few swimmers, but most drowning. And that its the ship that these lightning esc veins are coming from, a ship that could save these drowning people, but instead seems to be hurting them more.

"Heels" (Serie de TV) 2º temporada

 "Heels" está protagonizada por Stephen Amell (Arrow) como Jack Spade, con Alexander Ludwig (Los Juegos del Hambre, Vikingos) interpretando a su hermano menor, Ace. Dan vida a dos hermanos en permanente conflicto.

Editor's Note: This analysis is part of the USC-Brookings Schaeffer Initiative for Health Policy, which is a partnership between Economic Studies at Brookings and the University of Southern California Schaeffer Center for Health Policy & Economics. The Initiative aims to inform the national health care debate with rigorous, evidence-based analysis leading to practical recommendations using the collaborative strengths of USC and Brookings.

Loren Adler, Erin Duffy, and Matthew Fiedler recently provided comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on CMS’ proposal to resume network adequacy reviews for qualified health plans offered in states that use the federal enrollment platform. Their letter urges CMS not to implement network adequacy standards related to emergency physicians because doing so would increase patient out-of-pocket costs and premiums without improving patient access.

In brief, they argue that while network adequacy standards often have a role to play in protecting patient access to care and limiting patients’ exposure to costly out-of-network care, that is unlikely to be the case in the context of emergency physician services because other federal laws—namely the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act and the No Surprises Act—already protect consumers in these ways. However, applying network adequacy standards in this context would have the potential to increase the prices that insurers pay for health care by increasing the leverage that large emergency physician staffing companies and group practices hold in their contract negotiations with insurers. These higher prices would ultimately translate into higher out-of-pocket costs as well as higher premiums.

a tl;dr history  //  

 ○ Balo’s home life growing up was far from perfect. Her father, Lance - is an abusive alcoholic, and while her mother tried her best to protect her children - she also covered things up without hesitation because she loves her husband. It wasn’t uncommon to see a Driskell in the ER with a lie and people willing to back up the story.

 ○ Balo was conceived during the time Lance and Cassandra were seperated the only time that her mother tried to leave. She’s completely unaware that she’s not Lance’s biological daughter (as is everyone else).

 ○ She’s been attending Luxor since freshman year, although she had to leave in the middle of her Junior year had to leave for a few months to attend extensive inpatient treatment. She came back in April, although she could not rejoin the cheerleading and gymnastic teams until her therapist confirmed she was doing well (so the start of her senior year) because of concerns about her well-being.
