anyway the tgcf extras had hua cheng carve a statue of himself and even his first attempt was a pretty decent likeness except in xie lian’s words, “slightly less handsome”. then he proceeded to carve 10,000 statues of himself at all stages of life which xie lian found perfectly acceptable, meaning he stopped seeing/depicting himself as ugly. it’s there in the book hua cheng doesn’t think he is ugly anymore that was 700 years ago can the fandom stop saying he hates himself now

Meta Question: Talk a bit about Gale's fashion choices!

Ah, Gale! Form, comfort, and with just the quietest hint of indulgence. Gale, as a wizard from Waterdeep, would, in my opinion, lean on simpler outfits. It is said that men from the City of Splendors take on a more humble and resigned ensemble with those of noble lineage wearing only small adornments (such as signet rings [which he does have]) to represent their House.

Gale, being such a noble from Waterdeep, follows this image as well. He sticks to simpler robes — usually in some shade of plum, though whites and blues with sillvery touches are not at all unfamiliar to his armoire — that belies the pricetag associated with them. Make no mistake, though understated in its appearance, the fabrics Gale chooses are always those of the utmost luxury. He wears linen and comforting wools, sometimes damask, and on special occasions, velvets with luxurious silks. Their lining is impeccable, sewn always by his most favored tailor some several blocks down from that house of his mother's. When journeying, he prefers non-restrictive robes, practical always as to not hinder his movements when he casts his spells. At rest, he will choose more often than not loose tops with fitted bottoms, most likely of a cashmere variety for ample comfort and, as he likes to think of it, that 'wearing a cloud' quality. (See: his camp clothes.)

In modern verses, one can expect a tasteful ensemble of buttoned blouses and dashing herringbone trousers joined by an always polished pair of oxfords, Louboutins, and whatever some such brand. At night, he'll whip out his silk pajamas to chase his dreams with. Overall, he likes comfortable choices of a more timeless and classic variety. Reserved, too! For Gale, showing less is more — and it makes the mind wander. Perhaps.
