how did you get your tv growing up? (if you had multiple houses or technologies, pick the one you most identify with your formative childhood tv experience)
op's formative tv experience was in a rural area with rabbit ears in the 90s, but before 18 i lived in a place with every one of these except satellite. rotary antenna is its own category because i will never forget the day when a friend's family put one in. the sheer power of turning that knob and seeing a wholeass giant roof antenna turning around and then you can pick up the x-files?? fucking religious experience.

Cellular and headphone device cords and fingers interlaced and tangled, feeding off electricty and bodily friction, a screen and back both shimmering twelve inch valleys, one concaved in thrust, coastal to a shallow sea of sweat streaming down its center, the other a flat depiction of the first, both bristling with static, the scene fed into a camera on the bed, intent of function pumping through wirework to a vcr threaded to fuck a television and projector through a utilitarian orgy of retrofit, the scene played ontop of itself across sheets warmed by throbbing cables, the machinations of appliances, desperate breath, and the varying viscosity of white and transparent fluids, the collective heat emulated by a powered monitor, its touchable surface a simulacrum.

Oh yeah I once got a program that’s a virtual audio cable, is that what you mean? It’s like a software whose whole purpose is being able to lie and say your computer audio is actually coming from a microphone
