(As I wrote one of the episodes, I should probably note that this design for Cresta/her uniform is in no way definitive canon. This is just how I picture her!)

My three moments of all time in tabletop:

Rasmus (my Rogue) and Mage, who dabbled a bit in alchemy, are sneaking behind an enemy to initiate a pincer attack, ideally by taking out the strongest enemy from the bunch in one fell swoop. Ras says to the Mage “You’re a novice alchemist, right? I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable about the periodic table as well, this is the element of SURPRISE”, with SURPRISE punctuating my rolling a 19 and evaporating that dude out of existence.

Behind the party’s back, I preserved the corpse of a nigh-invulnerable hero we killed sessions ago (by teleporting him a kilometer above ground level through convoluted means that would require their own post) and when we were faced with a critical emergency in which there was NO time to find an alternative route to a group of enemies in a fortified position, Rasmus pulled the corpse out of the party’s secret trapdoor, preserved in salt, chained the corpse to a greatshield, and had the Barbarian wield this super sacrilegious Hero’s Corpse Shield to push forward into their otherwise impregnable position, which-- 

--directly led to the creation of a cult in the battle’s aftermath due to people being super not ok with Rasmus having made a super blasphemous shield with a hero’s corpse, to which he explained that the devotion of the Solar Sect celebrates the bounty of heroism even past the expiration of life, and that in such way, everyone has potential to be a hero (in a land where this is culturally important). This was extra blasphemous but also extra appealing to a number of onlookers, who signed up with the Solar Sect, which was something I made up in the moment but ended up with ramification the likes of which the political and religious spheres of that land would never truly recover from, culminating in Rasmus having to fake his death sessions later because this Solar Sect shit was getting out of control to the detriment (and hilarity) of everyone, our allies included. The alternative to the improvised cult was getting super extra lynched, by the way.

(bonus track) Upon executing a major antagonist in our campaign, Rasmus said “you have committed the ultimate cardinal sin and the single most blasphemous act you could afford a fellow human and sapient being: You got personal” before shoving the magic pommel of a large combat dagger imbued with lightning into a neck wound and Mortal Kombat exploding their head in front of the antagonist’s loved one. What my party didn’t realize, half due to language barrier, half to this being a very online thing, is that this was in fact a reference to a copypasta.

St. Louis Cardinals at Cincinnati Reds 8/11/2010 Game 24

Having just moved to the Queen City and having not yet found a job, I decided the responsible thing to do was attend some afternoon baseball.

The game had an extra set of intrigue to it as the Cardinals and Reds were fighting for first place in the NL Central. Things had boiled over the night before with a bench clearing brawl that actually ended the career of former Reds catcher and Yadier Molina’s backup, Jason LaRue.

Adam Wainwright and Bronson Arroyo were on their best behavior. They were also on the top of their game through the first four innings, until things begin to fall apart in the fifth for Arroyo.

With two outs Jon Jay doubled and then Arroyo walked Albert Puljos (intentionally) and Matt Holliday to load the bases. Colby Rasmus gave the Cardinals all the offense they needed with a grand slam to open a 4-0 lead on the Reds.

St. Louis added to that lead in the seventh when Molina and future Red Skip Schumaker each singled home a run. When the top of the eighth rolled around, Arthur Rhodes took the mound for the Reds, only for the grounds crew to put the tarp on the field. After the delay resumed the Reds decided to pull a double switch. This marked not only my first rain delay (and many more to come), but also the first time I saw someone appear without doing anything.

The rain delay also ended the day for Wainwright and the Reds seized that opportunity to avoid being shutout. Joey Votto singled in one of Tuesday’s main participants in Tuesday’s brawl, Brandon Phillips.

That’s all the Reds could muster and they dropped their first of so many more games to come as a metro Cincinnati resident.

These players could get qualifying offers today

Teams have until 5 p.m. ET to extend their prospective free agents a qualifying offer -- a one-year contract worth $17.9 million (the amount is the mean salary of MLB's 125 highest-paid players).

Players who receive a qualifying offer have 10 days to accept or reject it. That deadline is Nov. 12, at 5 p.m. ET.

Players who receive a qualifying offer have 10 days to accept or reject it. That deadline is Nov. 12, at 5 p.m. ET.

The qualifying offer system has been in place since the 2012-13 offseason. In the six previous offseasons with this system in place, there have been 73 qualifying offers issued, and only five (Brett Anderson, Jeremy Hellickson, Neil Walker, Colby Rasmus and Matt Wieters) have accepted them.

The rules regarding Draft pick compensation for signing players who rejected QOs changed a bit with the implementation of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement prior to the 2017 season, and the penalties for signing such players are less strict. Below is a list of free agents who are considered candidates to receive a qualifying offer. Players who are traded during the season or who have received a qualifying offer before are not eligible to receive one. Some notable players who fit these categories are as follows:

Qualifying-offer rules explained Under the previous Collective Bargaining Agreement, if a team made a qualifying offer to a player and he signed elsewhere, it would get a supplemental first-round Draft pick (right after the end of the first round). That has all changed.

Under the new rules, if the team that loses the free agent is a revenue-sharing recipient, based on its revenues and market size, then the selection -- if and only if the lost player signs for at least $50 million -- will be awarded a pick between the first round and Competitive Balance Round A of the 2019 MLB Draft. If the player signs for less than $50 million, the compensation pick for those teams would come after Competitive Balance Round B, which follows the second round.

The following 16 teams currently qualify for these picks: A's, Braves, Brewers, D-backs, Indians, Mariners, Marlins, Orioles, Padres, Pirates, Rays, Reds, Rockies, Royals, Tigers and Twins.

If the team that loses the player does not receive revenue sharing and did not exceed the luxury-tax salary threshold the previous season, its compensatory pick will come after Competitive Balance Round B. The value of the player's contract doesn't matter in this case. The 12 clubs that fall into this category are the Angels, Astros, Blue Jays, Cardinals, Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, Mets, Phillies, Rangers, White Sox and Yankees.

If the team that loses the player went over the luxury-tax threshold, the compensation pick will be placed after the fourth round has been completed (as with the previous scenario, it doesn't matter how much the player signs for). The two clubs in this group are the Nationals and Red Sox.
